To tell you the truth, I used to consider it a disgrace to be found ignorant by other people. But now, I find that I am not ashamed of knowing less than others.

Okay so I got this headcanon about Natsume Sōseki.
So we all know that he has the ability to transform into a cat right?
Specifically this cat.
Tumblr media
Well if you know some things about cat genetics you might have an idea where this is going. Natsume transforms into a calico cat.
For a cat to have the fur colors brown AND black the cat needs to have TWO X chromosomes.
This means that his cat form is either female or one of the few calico male cats which have an extra pair of chromosomes that explains their color.
The odds of that are 1 in 3000.
In the book ‘I am a cat’ which his ability is based on the side character who is a calico cat is also female by the way.
So if we just assumed that his cat form is female we could by extension assume that he might be afab.
Which brings me to my point TRANSMASC NATSUME.
Thank you for listening to my random headcanon based on my random knowledge about cat genetics.

So I’ve done a lot of reading this year, and since I supported so many zines, I’ve also had a lot of bookmarks to choose from, so I’ve alternated by book and even tried to tie in when possible. When reading a book set in Victorian England, I used one from a Great Ace Attorney Chronicles zine, because it was the same time period. When reading The Martian, I used one of Apollo because his best friend was an astronaut and to honor the Apollo space program. All that said… I’d like to thank everyone at @turnabout-cinema for setting me up perfectly for my last book of the year.

Reading the Sōseki novel Sanshirō, a Japanese classic from 1907, and the protagonist (young man about to start university) helps a woman he meets on the train find a hotel, but the hotel employees assume they're together and give them one room and he's too shy to correct them 😭 Can't believe the "there was only one bed!" fanfic trope is this old lmao

Had to read "Kokoro" by Natsume Sōseki for my Japanese Lit exam. The whole time I was thinking about Gojō as Sensei, and Getō as K... it hurt.
