I'm done! I'm finally done with my notes on the history of color theory. Just when I don't need them anymore since we're moving to the next module.
I had such a mental block over finishing this but I was finally able to move on from it.

how to stop being miserable while studying (from a guy in five ap’s who is suffering at the moment)
- MAKE EVERYTHING YOU DO INTO A CHECKLIST. EVERYTHING. i cannot stress how much less overwhelming it makes projects and assignments. divide each assignment into its own steps and make a checklist of each of them. extra dopamine every time you cross out a little box!! yaaay
- have something else to do while you study. i always found pomodoro timers insanely boring, so instead i’ve been logging onto roblox grow a garden and checking it every 20 minutes. more fun. just have something else running in the background, especially if you’re someone who works better with split attention.
- if you’re taking soul-sucking notes, PLEASE try color coding them after your favorite character. i’ve started using a teal pen on all my assignments and it genuinely helps my motivation and enjoyment.
- if you’re having an extra bad focus day, reward yourself for small stuff. every time you get a task done, eat a piece of candy. if it’s an extra, EXTRA bad focus day, try a smaller piece of candy or a chip for every question you get done. this works for me 90% of the time
- BRAG ABOUT IT. if you have socials you’re active on, BRAG ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE DOING. it definitely gave me an ego boost that helped me study more.
- offer to give people your notes/study tools. it feels good to help people!!! yay!! we are all friends here!!
- feel some sort of strong emotion towards it. i’ve heard a lot of people romanticizing studying, but i personally like to frame it as an act of spite and hatred. i am a warrior who will defeat this class. i am a GLADIATOR.
- can’t bring yourself to study, like you PHYSICALLY can’t because your motivation is so low you might as well be a rock? listen to videos or podcasts about your topic on repeat while you do something you enjoy. i know people on here hate stuff like that, active recall is everything blah blah, but if you can’t get out of bed you can at least do this. you might at least pick up one or two things.
- don’t do it the night before. get it done early if possible so that you can stop worrying about it!!
- pretend you are a mad scientist. or play pretend about it in some way. give yourself a little story to add some flavor.
- lastly: good luck!!! yaaaaay
#im not active on studyblr but i lurk occasionally#the problem is i see more aestheticized study motivation than actual help#this is for my nd folks out there who cant just sit down and do it 👍#studyblr#study motivation#academic validation#academic weapon#uhh

Self-Learning Troubles
I have for a long time had troubles with learning languages by myself. I was doing Duolingo courses for German and the way I was doing them probably contributed to how I was able to maximize my time learning and also maximize my recall afterwards. Back in 2019, I was doing a tech internship and when I would go on my lovely state-mandated breaks (oh how I miss them now that I've moved to a state that doesn't have them), I would take the time to do some German Duolingo lessons (this was before the re-tool to make it more like the CEFR scale, obviously, if that makes a difference; I don't believe it would but this is an aside just for your information; I have digressed, anyway...). Of course, my life has much less structure now than it did then (plus those breaks at work are now non-existence because different state laws so), so I don't think I'd be able to do something similar.
I have since tried to just be a sponge for the languages that I'm learning. Listening to music in the language, attempting to read things in the language, and continuing to say to myself that I'll make a goalpost of trying to take a certification exam for the language that I would then have to study for and eventually hope to pass. I've been looking at said exam for German for a while now, so you can guess how that has gone.
My ADHD and other relevant neurodivergencies make it difficult for me to learn things the normal way, and I don't think there's a way to replicate the way I learned ASL (where I would often watch interpreters and listen to what was being interpreted and attempt to pick up on signs; I have actually attempted to look into this, although the answers that I got were basically "you could try to do it, but I doubt you'll get good results out of it"). Another reason that would be difficult is that I took a class for ASL where we were only allowed to use ASL during lecture hours. That added on the pressure of being graded and since I graduated university two years ago, that definitely won't work.
Tbh I don't know why I decided to write this post. I'd love to be able to study languages daily and make some kind of routine where I could sit down (or probably more accurately, carve time out of my busy work schedule) and practice/learn the languages I'm learning at the time. I feel like I haven't found the right method for me. It's waiting out there somewhere, and I just have to find it. All of the conventional methods haven't worked for me as of yet, so I guess I keep searching.
This is a jumble of word salad, and if you'd like to add a proverbial salad dressing to help me out, feel free. Or don't; this is the free internet, and I have no say in what you do with it.

Hello. other students taking GCSEs
I was wondering if it would be helpful for anyone if I posted some in-depth notes? I'd explain the topic like it's a lesson, as this is helpful for my own revision and might help other people understand it
It'd mostly be for biology and chemistry, probably, as that's super fact-recollection based. Idk, I see a lot of aesthetic studyblr blogs and I've never seen anyone actually post explanations of subjects or original material here, links to resources being the closest thing
You could also send in requests as long as it's clear with everyone that I'm not a teacher, just a teenager on the internet, I have no qualifications. also I'll be using online resources, textbooks and stuff to find the information - if everyone responds to this with yeah no why would you do that, that's a horrible idea, then I'll probably post some other studying-related stuff here anyway, even if studyblr is kind of...deceased lol I think it'll help me with my own revision
ok uh. like/rb or something if you think that'd be helpful thx bye

LMAO GUESS WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM.
FUCKIN' GUESS.
I DIDN'T USE MY TIMERS!! WHICH MADE "A LITTLE BIT OF STUDYING/WORKING" INTO A CATASTROPHIC "NO STUDYING"
love having a weirdo brain :D
so! use the methods that help you study, folks! don't be like me!
studying just has been very, very hard. i'm trying so much and i'm trying a lot but it's just not happening.

First week of the new semester went well. Despite the photos, I might have been the only one on campus who dressed alt on the first week.
Also trying to figure out how I could get the energy to do more than one thing a day again. 3/5 of my subjects are lecture and notes heavy while the other two are output heavy.

hiya, making a notion/studyblr sideblog in the hopes that this will unlock more motivation for school 👍
hello i'm nico (he/him), 19yr old gay trans guy
second-year college student studying transportation planning/public policy + disability studies
sexy neurodivergent: autism. adhd. anxiety. apd. etc.
I've been using notion for more than 3 years now and it has turned into my main special interest
will be posting about my personal notion, the notion I manage for my neurodiversity school club, general notion stuff, and study stuff (with yapping throughout or whatever else I wanna talk about)
will like/follow from my main blog, @autistic-twink
not going to try hard to make stuff aesthetic. in my own opinion and experience, it's just a waste of time cause I'll get bored of it within the month lmao
terfs, nazis, zionists, bigots, exclusionists, etc. DNI. thanks!
more under the cut about my tags, stuff about my different notions, etc.
tag list:
#nico's notion - when i'm talking about my own personal notion that I use for everything outside of club stuff #nico's club notion - when I'm talking about the notion that I built/manage for the neurodivergent club at my university #nico's spin - when I'm talking about general notion stuff like new features, issues, tutorials, etc. #nico's studying - when I'm talking about my own studying for stuff or studying tips #nico's yapping - stuff that does not fall into the above categories or just because I feel like it #nico's notion reblogs - may reblog cool notion dashboards, tips, tutorials, etc
i will probably make a separate post on my club notion hub, because it is the loml. i started it in spring 2024 and in total estimate that I've spent ~40-45 hours on it (and I still continuously work on it). I do not exaggerate when I say that it is my special interest :)
i've changed my personal notion dashboard soooo many times now as I have gotten more comfortable with notion over the years, and I'm currently in the middle of finding something that works for me, so I'll be posting about that. I've got a few systems down so far (task databases + notion calendar ftw) but still working on it.
if you've read this far- congratulations. gold star (you should follow me, I want other nd mutuals)

I'm not at all sure if I count in the dni, but I want you to know I appreciate the blog. It's nice seeing other people value the actual learning more than the "aesthetic".
Keep doing what you're doing, it'll mean a lot to other neurodiverse and disabled kids to even just see a blog like this.
I checked out your blog and there's nothing creepy, so as far as I can see, you don't count in the DNI (The DNI is literally just people who shouldn't be around schools and bigots)
Thank you so much for the appreciation, because although the aesthetics can be motivating to look at, there's always the matter of *actually studying*, because I love a pretty set of notes as much as anyone else, and personally I learn easier from aesthetic notes because it keeps my brain focused, but studying doesn't start and end with gel pens. And a lot of the studyblr community is reposted Pinterest pics which, there is absolutely no benefit to, so why not make a space where people can actually benefit from.
Honestly, I was devastated to find out that most of the nd studyblrs hadn't posted in years, and each time that I find a disabled studyblr, I light up, because it's a reminder that even though my school thought it was a good idea to put one of the literal 3 people in the school with mobility issues in upstairs classes with no lift access because I'm the only one not in a wheelchair, I'm not alone in the bullshit. And it's not just "misery loves company" it's "here's some company and here's how to keep your blood vessels working during your Algebra test" which is always something that we're aiming for 🤣🤣🤣
Anyways, this is getting a bit rambly, but seeing this lit up my morning, it honestly means so much that my posts are actually helping people, because it was raised in my that anything that I can do to help someone else, even just a small bit, I should do, because there's enough struggle in the world, and I'm hardly going to end world hunger, but if I can make one person's day a little bit easier, then I've accomplished all that I need to. So thank you, I am smiling like an absolute idiot with how happy this has made me💙💙💙

hi!! i'm back after spending a long time focusing on my other blogs!
my url was nd-studying-writing-chaos, but i changed it to neurodivergent-studyblr.
i'm reworking a lot of the appearance of the blog, but i'm still a studyblr focused on neurodivergent students, hence the url!
a lot's been happening in my life lately, and i'm excited to see where things are going! hope you're all doing great, see you around!
