I am once again on my inhuman vash soapbox shouting into the void about how vash is a little critter posing as a dude. he does not naturally Human™ he just imitates the people around him to act human.

picking up their mannerisms and making them his own. turning himself not only into a patchwork of scars and metal, but also of the people he's met.

theyre lives are so fleeting and so beautiful, he works them into himself to let them live on. taking the art of their passions and experiences and mapping them onto himself.

after all, plants aren't individual. not really. they function as extensions of a whole. a hivemind not unlike the root systems of the Aspen groves that once dominated the landscapes of earth.massive and connected and immortal through their community, their likeness.

but humans are. they're single and fleeting and wonderfully individual. each of them unique from the others, no two alike. this gives them power, knowledge and passion and drive that a plant like vash could never imagine. but it also makes them tragically small specs on the sprawling plains of time. their lives burning hot and bright and fast like the fireworks rem showed him videos of as a child.

vash burns slowly. less of a firework and more like a stick of incense, leaving every where he walks bathed in a haze of power and smoke and destruction. cleansing and blessing the ground he walks on, the lives he touches.

vash can't make their lives longer and he's tried. pouring energy into their bodies as they lay dying at his feet in a desperate plead for them to stay please don't leave me. their body's are so much softer than his. weaker and unguarded. even their cells are soft and delicate, letting the energy he pours into them slip away like water over stone. he can't save them from themselves, but he can preserve their memory in himself.

if someone, say for instance a nosy old reporter, watched an angel like the good well meaning stalker they are, they might start to realize that vash repeats things. not obviously, not right away, but later.

a unique saying from a shopkeep a few towns back might roll off the stampedes tongue one day, and then again a week later.

or a specific quirk to his brow that looks just a little too much like that gangster from last months incredulous face at being put in a confession booth mid shootout.

sometimes if a well-meaning and slightly stalkerish old reporter kept a reallyyy close eye on a particularly sleepy or drunk outlaw, they might notice that with every drink his mimics get a little closer to copying in real time.

bottle green limps slamming down on counters in the same way that darker scarless forearms do 12 drinks in with their sleeves rolled up.

drunken giggles taking on the familiar snort of a younger newbie on a late night.

if a very attentive and only slightly tipsy stalker looked to the twiggy outlaw to their side, they might see him taking the same pose over the bartop as the stalker is wont to do.

Roberto is a reporter, and a little stalkerishness comes with the territory, and he thinks the mimicing is adorable.

With how I'm planning my fics, since Menelaus and Agamemnon spend some years at Tyndarius' palace, I kind of have them all be childhood friends in a way before Agamemnon and Menelaus take back their kingdom (Aga is around 19, Menelaus 15 when they leave. 5-6 years later they get married.) With how their marriages work out when talking about "Old times", Odysseus is the "odd one out" as he was the only one who didn't grow up alongside them. The poor guy is left out.

Golden Cicada + Canon I outright reject

Ooooo interesting choice anon! Especially since there's so little know about that guy in the first place lmao. As is with the creative license that is non-description I've seen people give Golden Cicada every form from a pretty regular looking human monk to a full-on man-sized cicada yaoguai, and there's nothing in the text to confirm or reject any one of these interpretations.

THAT SAID, given the hints of what Golden Cicada's incarnations went through before he became Tang Sanzang (probably getting devoured one after the other by Sha Wujing for starters), and given everything that our beloved weepy monk went through before he reached Enlightenment apparently as a way to make up for his past misdeeds, I guess my "rejection" of Golden Cicada canon isn't so much a rejection as it is an expansion of what him being "heedless" of Buddha would have actually been. Because just falling asleep during one of Buddha's lectures doesn't seem like something you would need nine lives and then 14+ years of trials to make up for; making the choice to ultimately reject Buddha's teachings so that you could perhaps be like a number of other figures in Xiyouji and live it up on Earth as a yaoguai warlord before meeting your untimely fate, however, does seem something that would throw you into the cycle of samsara for around ten more rounds before you got back to a state of Enlightenment lol.

Wood Warping and Flying Brooms

Back in the day before Air Control was a thing flutes had this little quirk where they would sound different depending on the weather and season. This is becuase in hotter weather the wood would warp changing the shape thus changing the sound. Now Metal flutes were also a thing as well but would also experience warping. This is why a lot of instruments require specific storage conditions.

So what if it applied to brooms?

What if during the summer you got longer, looser, and slippier, control(Such as most turns ending up with more drift) but faster speed while in colder weather maybe things got more tighter?

Maybe some broom brands look to counteract this with built in heating and freezing charms? But in turn maybe the wood chips and looses it's enchantments faster causing more flying issues.

Or how about some brooms try less of a spell solution and more enchantments; carving out the middle to carves small runes for more stabilizing enchantments that would belong inside houses, then sealing up the inside hoping that it'll keep shape from inside to out?

This might cause other issues such as weight and doesn't deal with warping on the outside which could affect shape thus doesn't maximize the efficiency.

You could counter act that by making the runes 3d through metal castings(Like letter magnets but for magic symbols) that are then put down in interlocking order to make only certain runes interact with each other in the desired way? But then you might have to worry about the runes themselves warping or again, the weight issues. Plus the upkeep of the inners could pose a challenge for far less experienced broom riders and owners.

Some perhaps look at flutes for a solution, ending up with a glass handle broom? A cool design for the more fancy acrobatic type. This however could cause many problems, as sitting on heated glass or crystal in the summer is Not Great.

Well you could always put the crystal or glass as the base of the broom and then added wooden "furniture" for better writing.

But if you play Quidditch then this becomes a hazard. Instead of snapping due to hitting a blunder the broom would shatter. The shards could get caught in the wounds and while magical healing can fix up the wounds themselves the removal of shards is not part of standard healing. You better hope the following 'Accio Glass Shards' doesn't cause so many cuts that you're dead before the healing spells and potions can be given to you and work their magic.

Maybe that's what the different brands fight over, why some have preferences to certain kinds of brooms, why some might be cheaper than others outside of some just being "Newer Brooms".

Brook mostly listens to like classical music (he finds it relaxing) but sometimes he'll listen to stuff like mother mother and queen (also the Beatles for some reason) but it's not often at all

Franky DEFINITELY likes stray kids. Don't ask me why, he just does.

And now luffy...my dear luffy. He would listen to meme songs un-ironically, like 'never gonna give you up', the rock, SpongeBob music, etc. Like this man is fishing with this shit playing and he has a straight face. That or it's just to most ear grinding shit you've ever heard. (Also I think he would like 5 seconds of summer sometimes)

as mentioned in the first post in this "series", he isn't completely accustomed to this affection yet; i.e., he's still in the "trying his best" stage of reciprocating and showing his appreciation for you

that basically means that sometimes he'll still squirm if you try to cling to him, pretty much, but that's the only real noticeable stutter in his efforts to make sure that you know he loves you too

complimenting him now results in him trying to one-up you and responding with his own compliment, which essentially ends up with the two of you getting into "compliment battles" of sorts

he'll roll his eyes at pet names, though; not in a particularly irritated way, mind you, but more in a flustered, "oh, you!" kind of way

buying/giving you stuff, though, is where he really excels.. he sees anything he thinks you might like or that he thinks would accurately convey his love for you, he'll immediately obtain it somehow

a lot of the stuff he gets you is stolen, but considering everything else that he does on a regular basis, it's probably not something that concerns you all too much

cool edgy supernatural creature headcanon inspired by the request I'm currently working on:

supernatural creatures bleed red blood, just like humans...

but if injured by some part of another supernatural creature's body, they also bleed the essence of their soul

with exception to Reapers, who just bleed blood, except they can take more of a beating than humans and so they often bleed much more than a human would

but demons and angels? oh yeah

if a demon scratches an angel with their nails, in addition to blood, the angel will also bleed heavenly essence in the form of bright (traditionally white, but it varies among types of angels; a fallen angel's essence is often violet or indigo) light

if an angel bites a demon with their teeth, in addition to blood, the demon will also bleed hellish essence in the form of a dark miasma (typically black, but variations include red or violet, sometimes deep gold like ichor, though that's most often reserved for demons who've earned some form of redemption)

if an angel or demon were to injure a Reaper with their body enough to spill blood, they wouldn't get any unique 'essence' because, well, Reapers are 'neither here nor there' when it comes to heaven or hell

it depends on the individual, but these essences can also have varying effects on humans and other supernatural creatures

an angel's blood light can heal OR it can blind the eyes

a demon's blood shade can protect OR it can burn flesh

most people, angels and demons included, prefer to fight with weapons as it offers more control of one's strength (and it looks cool)

but if supernatural creatures ever want to make a POINT, the use their nails or teeth to rip open another's skin to bleed out what makes that being THEM.

what does your character consider “Pokemon Mastery” to be?

Red has a complicated relationship with the term, for him he really doesn't think it exists in the same way most other people believe it does.

For him the closest the definition comes to, is when a person successfully forms a long-lasting bond with their team in any capacity. He doesn't put any stock in the term having anything to do with battling capability, he considers coordinators and rangers to be just as capable of 'Pokemon Mastery' as any other trainer across the world.

When you have a team or a partner pokemon, that you're willing to give your all for and they're willing to do the same for you, that's Pokemon Mastery to him.

It's mostly because of the "Hyacinths in full bloom" as WOW that's PRETTY. (part of where "Pretty boy conman" comes from)

It gets frizzy a lot and he'll often just shove it into his Pileus. (Thick curly hair needs a LOT of care. It's literally because of the "divinity" in him that it's not a constant mess) Man is kind of like Merida with curls (not color though!)

It's long too and it's where some of his brain is >:D he's like Samson where if you cut it, he loses his power. He get stupid :P

To ME, it's basically THIS but longer, and sometimes gets "poofier" depending on stuff like weater, bedhead, hathair, HELMET hair, etc. (Or straight up like Wolfy's new Art except more red/brown as I basically SCREAMED "That's it!!! It's a mane of HAIR!!! LONG AND CURLY!!!! lksdjf lkdsj " )

I think it's kind of funny/ironic for his hair to be a "mane" despite the fact that he's never described like a lion in the Iliad (from what I remember) while the other men were. He's the one that has a literal lion's mane but he's never compared to one because...personality. He's described as one in Odyssey but still!!! It's IRONY!!!! >:D Plus it's Penelope's favorite fidget/stim and Baby Telemachus' favorite thing to yank >:D
