Made With Love [Neuvillette x reader]
Summary: Neuvillette has feelings for you, but doesn't know how to act on them. The Melusines try to help, but ultimately he wants to start and act on his own emotions.
A/N: Neuvilette in the last act of the archon quest made me sad :( // I need someone to say "Was that your first kiss in 500 years?" to Neuvi like Natasha to Steve.
Warnings: dialogue heavy, reader is shorter than Neuvi, reader is a baker
➽────────────❥
"Wait- Monsieur Neuvillette!"
A small voice called out. The Iudex was just about to go out for his weekly walk around the city, until a little Melusine stopped him. They were the ones who suggested he go out for some fresh air, since they sensed that he was still stirred from Fontaine's recent crisis along with handling his duties.
"Hm? What is it Sedene?" He asks, stopping in his steps so that she could catch up to him.
"Are you going to see (y/n)?" Sedene asks, putting her hand curiously to her lips. Straight to the point, the Iudex thinks. His breath gets caught in his throat for a split second, surprised at her words.
Despite being familiar with Melusines and their unique sixth sense, he feels like a deer caught in headlights when they suddenly mention you. Because they know about you- yet they never say the obvious thing directly.
The Melusines have noticed a change in his behaviour, and it started happening when he went out for his walks. One day the Chief Justice came back with a box of macarons, which was quite curious since he usually didn't eat sweets, and so he gave one to each Melusine he passed by. As time went on, more Melusines started noticing Neuvilette smiling... for seemingly no reason at all.
No reason except one that the Melusines instantly picked up on. In fact, you didn't exactly have to be a Melusine to recognize you and the Chief Justice's behaviour, both skirting around your feelings for each other. It didn't take them long to find out about you, and find your bakery from the thank you card in the box of macarons he bought. Monsieur Neuvillette in love... how exciting, they think.
However, with developing emotions comes confusion for the Iudex.
"Yes..." Neuvillette answers directly, yet a bit shyly, a bit surprised at his own forwardness with admitting it. Sedene gestures for him to bend down, to which he complies. She reaches up, and uses her hands to smooth out the top of his head.
"There we go, perfect!" she says cheerfully. Neuvillette realized what she was trying to do, and can't help but smile, though a little embarrassed. The Melusines have been trying to encourage him to act on his feelings, or at least make you realize that he is interested in you. Right now, Sedene was preening his hair, as if to get him ready for a date. He could only imagine the thought of that happening.
"Thank you Sedene, it is much appreciated. I'll be off now."
"You're welcome! Have a nice walk, Monsieur Neuvillette!" she calls out, waving cutely.
He should not be nervous since he was just walking to a bakery, is what he tells himself. However, the Iudex finds himself smoothing out his robes, suddenly thankful of Sedene's gesture with his hair. He takes a step inside the cute little shop as the bells dings.
"Welcome- oh! Good afternoon Monsieur Neuvillette!" Your cheery voice greets him warmly. He seemed a little spaced out to you, but you wait patiently for his response. You take the time to admire his features- You can't help but feel that he felt ethereal in a way. You had to admit he was quite handsome, with how beautiful his eyes were, and how tidy he kept his look.
"Good afternoon." You brush your hands on your apron and quickly walk towards him to have your weekly chats. "How was your week?"
"Busy." You say with a long sigh. "We've gotten so many orders lately, it's hard for me to keep up... Actually something interesting happened- I felt like my boss was about to fire me."
"What?" Neuvillette says in a surprised tone.
"No no! I was kidding! Well... kind of. I'm not sure." The truth about the bakery's rising sales was because of Neuvillette's constant visits. People are naturally shocked to see the Iudex doing things like this, which quickly lead to the Steambird catching this on the paper. You guessed the message was that if Neuvillette kept coming in, that meant the pastries were good.
However, your boss was suspicious thinking it was too good to be true. She noticed that Neuvillette would mostly direct his attention to you, which created the comical hypothesis that you were a criminal and the Iudex was onto you.
"She thinks I'm... going to try you?"
"Yes, it's kind of funny actually." You fish out a newspaper from last week, pointing to his picture photographed with headlines about him visiting the bakery. Neuvillette found it odd how he never seen this before. That, and how his hair looks from the back.
"My apologies, I didn't mean to-"
"Don't apologize! Like I said, I find it quite humorous. Besides, I'm happy that more people have enjoyed our baked goods." You quickly reply. He smiles, giving you the relief that he doesn't need to feel sorry. "How have you been, Monsieur Neuvillette?"
"I've been feeling a little troubled as of late..." Usually when you ask him how things are, he provides a neutral answer. But today he decides to let his feelings out a little. You want to ask him, but you're afraid of crossing that boundary, that it might be personal. You feel bad, after seeing his furrowed eyebrows and downcast eyes, seeing how he might be dealing with something difficult.
"I hope things turn out better, Monsieur Neuvillette. If you want, I'm always here to listen." He smiled, which you now realize is quite a rare but beautiful sight. Neuvillette always admired your kindness, and it compelled him to get closer to you. He was aware he is no good at small talk, or even regular casual conversations, but he is willing to get better at it.
"Thank you, (y/n). I'm afraid this is something I have to deal with on my own." You nod, as a way to affirm his statement, then go around your counter to decide to grab something.
"Did Aeval like the raspberry flavoured macaroons I tried making? I wish I could've seen her reaction in person, but I haven't taken the Aquabus lately."
"I'll be sure to ask her for you, though I'm sure she does. Many of the Melusines are fond of your pastries, ever since I brought them some." He remembers that day. Your smile was just as bright as it is today.
"I'm grateful." You say happily... though there's something else you want to mention. "Speaking of the Melusines, is that a gift from them?"
You point to the top of his head.
"Oh, my hair ribbon?" He says fiddling his hand through the back of his hair. However, you shake your head.
"The tiara."
"The tiara-..." Neuvillette moves his hand to the top of his head, where he feels the tiniest tiara. He could not see it, but from the textures he felt some small shells and rocks. The Iudex realizes this was probably what Sedene was doing with his hair. You giggle, catching on that even he is just discovering it. "I suppose it is. Sedene must have put it in my hair just before this."
Neuvillette deducts that the tiara must be something from Melusine tradition that they wear for special occasions or gatherings. You watch as Neuvillette gives a chuckle, probably at how cute the Melusines actions were. And you couldn't disagree.
"You know, the Melusines have been saying a lot of good things about you." You say, trying to lighten the mood.
"Is that so?"
"Yes, they keep telling me how kind and intelligent the Iudex is." Neuvillette nods. The Melusines are very kind to him, so-
"And how tall he is."
Oh.
"And handsome."
Well.
Neuvillette politely covers the lower half of his face with his hand to hide his expression. He gets flustered at the thought of the little Melusines flattering him to you, while knowing their intentions.
"I apologize, I think the Melusines-"
"It's alright! I know they mean well. Besides, it's not really a surprise to me..." You say the last part shyly, but it doesn't go unnoticed by him. In fact it's the part that is highlighted the most, and almost prompted him to blush furiously before you quickly said something else. "I like it, it suits you." you smile, gazing up at him.
"Thank you, (Y/n)." Is all Neuvillette is able to utter, after seeing your beaming smile.
"You're welcome! Take these, they're on the house! I hope it'll make your day better." You present him a small box of some assorted sweets. all different flavours and decorated with different fruits.
"You're too kind, but I couldn't possibly take these without paying you."
"Oh please I insist! They're made with love." you coo the last part as a way to try and convince him, to which Neuvillette finds himself getting flustered at. It's a common phrase, and yet he interprets a slightly different meaning from it.
In his eyes, he finds you attractive, yes- cute when you wipe your nose when he tells you that you have flour on it, radiant when you smile while giving macaroons to the Melusines. He's come to know more about you the more he talked to you, and how kind you were. And though his weekly walks in the city were to ease his mind, he couldn't imagine not seeing you as a part of his routine. You are the reason why he has this foreign feeling inside him- one that makes his heart beat faster when you accidentally brush fingertips with him, or give him a compliment.
"Made with love..." He whispers, mostly to himself. You get flustered when you hear him say those words, thinking he might have caught onto your feelings. You hold your breath to prepare yourself for what he might say. "I quite like that."
To your surprise, the Iudex reveals to you one of his rare subtle smiles as you bring the box to him. You can't help but agree with his statement, except you meant it for how handsome he looks when he does that along with how soft his eyes get. You hope to see it more.
"I keep baking things for the Melusines, though you never told me what kinds of things you like. What do you like, Monsieur Neuvillette?"
For a moment, Neuvillette stares at your lips, then back at your eyes that are looking so sweetly at him. He feels his heart beating faster...
"You..."
He almost says that word- that dangerous one word.
"Neuvillette..." you say so softly that it's almost a whisper. Oh, he's starting to adore how you say his name without formalities. He reaches his hand out briefly, then retracts it and clears his throat. He wants to ask you.
But...
"I apologize." He realizes he doesn't know what he's apologizing for. "I... am not really sure what kinds of things I like."
"Oh." you say a little confused. The Iudex feels a little embarrassed, but you always know exactly what to say. Your smile doesn't falter when he gives his strange answer. "Well, when you do know, tell me!"
"I will." He says, in a little more firm tone- more like a promise.
➽────────────❥
A few hours passed, and it was evening now. It started raining shortly after his recent interaction with you. As the hydro dragon himself says, he does not weep, he is just stirred. He went back to his office, but wasn't able to concentrate on his work. He mulled over the interaction he just had with you. He feels like his emotions are about to leap out of his chest, and they almost did in that moment. Neuvillette is still in the process of getting used to expressing himself. He didn't know what to do next.
He wanted to ask you to dinner or something else you may enjoy, but found himself being held back. He was afraid of making you uncomfortable, the fact that he was essential now responsible for all of Fontaine, and furthermore his true identity which you do not know of. The Iudex even considered writing a letter to the traveller and Paimon to ask them for help, but didn't want to trouble them.
"Neuvillette!" he hears a faint voice call out for him. "Monsieur Neuvillette!"
He turns back, recognizing that the voice was you. But he couldn't see you in the city that was slowly getting more grey... except an umbrella with legs.
"Monsieur Neuvillette- you don't have an umbrella, you're going to get soaked!" you say in concern for him.
He realizes he can't really see your face since the umbrella was covering you... it's quite adorable. It makes him smile for a brief moment. He reaches for the handle and raises it up so that it now covers the both of you. The Iudex's breath gets caught when his throat tightens, when you are revealed to him.
Through his eyes, he can see you telling him something- however, he is not focused on that. He can't help but admire how your eyes glimmer even in these grey skies. How even when he was drenched you are happy to see him.
His overflowing heart cannot stop him anymore, for his free hand reaches to softly cup your cheek, his body bending down to your height. You let out a small gasp and immediately stop talking. Your heart is beating furiously as well.
"May I?" Neuvillette asks you with the most delicate of whispers.
"Yes," you say, unable to contain your smile. "Of course, Neuvillette." Yours and Neuvillette's eyes close as you bring your hands under his damp jaw. He is the one who closes the gap between you two, and kisses you with fervour, while not forgetting to be gentle. His lips are soft, melding with yours perfectly. His hand still holds your cheek throughout with a featherlight touch.
You and Neuvillette are all butterflies when you look into each other's eyes, relishing in what just happened.
"I believe I know the answer to your question earlier." The Iudex says breathlessly. "You have captured my heart, (Y/n)."
"And you have captured mine." You reply lovingly. Though, after saying it out loud, it seems you both knew this is how you felt for a while now.
"If I may ask, would you like to accompany me to have dinner and see a play at the Opera Epiclese after?" Neuvillette finally gets the confidence to express what he wanted to ask you. And he's even happier when he already feels he knows your answer from how you're smiling.
"I'd love to." You say, wrapping your arms around him. He returns the gesture with his one free arm, with both of you basking in the moment for a while before you head to your destination.
"The rain seems to be stopping." You say, gazing up at the sky seeing less droplets fall. Your eyes curiously watch how the rain magically decided to stop.
"So it is..." He does the same, except his eyes quickly fall back to you with a sigh of relief.

♡ 5:45PM — NEUVILLETTE
↳ note : for @sleepysnk and her down badism for him ♡
↳ song rec : my love mine all mine by mitski
Tumblr media
coming home after a long day in court is secretly neuvillette’s favourite time of day. no more loud yelling coming from prosecutors and defendants, and no more listening to furina’s childish attempts at making the trial a drama.
he gets to come home, home to you.
home where you already have two cups of tea waiting, the fireplace going, and blankets at the ready.
so when he walks through the front door of your quaint home, he already knows what to expect and he accepts that happily.
he shuffles off his dress shoes, unfastens his tie and link cuffs, and inches his way to the living room. and that’s when he sees you sitting on one end of blue chesterfield.
“hi.” you greet him, a blanket wrapped around your shoulders and a cup of earl grey in your hands. “i missed you, how was the trial today?”
“hello, my love.” he responds, heavy footsteps padding over to you then leaning to press a sweet kiss to your temple. “i missed you too, greatly. the trial was… good. it was just a petty theft.”
neuvillette sits beside you, pulling the blanket that’s wrapped around you to share it, his arm wrapping around you. you playfully pout and he chuckles lightly.
“you should drink your tea, before it gets cold”
“ah, yes, i should. thank you, love.”
his free arm reaches out to the chestnut coffee table, lithe fingers grabbing the porcelain handle of the cup.
though it was simple, the first step of his night routine was this and it was his favourite. the hushed tellings of how each other's day went and the warmth of a cup of tea to accompany the warmth that you bring to his heart.

╰─..✶. [ Synchronicity ]
Tumblr media
❒ pairing: neuvillette x fem!reader
❒ genre: romance! fluff!
❒ warnings: none
❒ wc: 2.3k
─❒ authors note: it was meant to be centered around neuvillette being the kind of partner to spontaneously grasp your hand, twirl you into his arms, and dip you 🥹. Only I failed. (same time line as Loves Embrace)
Tumblr media
Nothing delighted Neuvillete more than having you around him. In your moments of leisure, he admired you with awe, and at your most occupied, he observed your every move with hawk-like precision.
You were a captivating distraction, the very embodiment of the word, or perhaps it was simply because he was taken by love. Nonetheless, it changed nothing when your mere presence claimed his attention, and who was he to deny what rightfully belonged to you?
Neuvillette adored seeing you engrossed in your work just as much as adored seeing you unwind. Yet honestly, he couldn't deny the heightened admiration he felt when your hands were full, your feet pacing, and your thoughts racing. Being one to avoid delaying assignments and duties, even though it meant resisting the strong temptation to occasionally set them aside, your unwillingness to subject yourself to the stress of last-minute urgency led you to steer clear of completing them just days before the deadline. This resulted in you shouldering the weight of overthinking and excessive stress, presenting a side that Neuvillete witnessed more often than not recently.
Currently, you moved in and out of his office. Your hands are piled with a stack of papers one second and empty the next. Given the considerable amount of walking you've undertaken, he could almost envision your feet leaving burning holes into the flooring, and he found himself smiling at the undeniable charm it had seeing you this way.
He was meant to be occupied, though his work lay untouched for nearly an hour. The pen, originally poised to inscribe crucial signatures, was reduced to a playful trinket dancing between and around his fingers. As for his eyes, adorned with lengthy lashes and an intense gaze, designed to decipher words and traverse lengthy paragraphs, were diverted from their intended task, fixated instead on watching you.
The deep furrow of your eyebrows conveyed the presence of a multitude of thoughts racing through your mind, trying to recount all that had been done and all that still awaited attention. There were moments of abrupt pause when you would freeze midway, surveying your surroundings with a hint of confusion before swiftly returning to rummage through his desk drawers in search of whatever you needed.
It was an adorable sight, one that threatened to unravel Neuvillette's sanity. It melted him akin to snow yielding to the touch of the summer sun.
After a while, Neuvillette abandoned the attempt to fulfil his daily tasks, finding himself seated on the couch, his legs crossed, sipping from a cup of tea you so generously poured for him.
He was mildly disappointed when you chose to carry on with work rather than join him, and to some extent, he's experiencing what it must have been like for you during those moments when he was the one waltzing back and forth, entangled in the intricacies of court hearings. Performing a duty that demanded his complete focus, in a realm where his presence was marked by the dance of legal proceedings and the weight of judgment, a period he could not escape from; it dawns on him the unfortunate synchronicity of your lives— a constant alternation where one is busy while the other is available.
However, if he looks at it from a different angle, he's forced to acknowledge the depth of love that must prevail for your relationship to withstand such challenging circumstances.
How could he not revel in such news?
Indeed, he has made an effort to better fulfil his duties to you as he declared a few weeks back. He discovered a more adept approach to balancing his commitments to Fontaine and you, allocating his time and focus, and he's relatively satisfied with his efforts. Archons know the joy is palpable as you rejoice in having him home earlier, enveloped in your arms whenever the opportunity arises.
'Embrace.' It echoes in his heart and surges through his veins, a shiver tracing up his arms. He steals a glance at you, seeing your scrunched-up nose as you flip through a document. You're seated in his chair, by his desk, in his office, with his pen clip peeking out from your messy hair.
Neuvillette appreciates that your job does not demand your constant in-person attendance like his does; its flexibility, granting you the freedom to move and work at your discretion. He finds joy in having you near, even though you're engaged in actual work and not solely showering him with the attention he desires at the moment. The mere presence of you working nearby is sufficient. He has the luxury to gaze at you, savouring the sight of your beauty for as long as he pleases.
Over time, his fingers become restless, and his cup of tea, long finished, rests on its saucer, no longer a distraction for his hands. His eyes shift between you on his left and the focal point of his view. He sits up straighter and clears his throat, causing your head to lift, your gaze connects with his.
"Are you o─ Archons!" You exclaimed halfway, eyes widening with realization.
"What's the matter, my dear?" He feels compelled to ask, concern quickly rising as he anticipates the worst.
"I've just recalled something," You inform him, already hastily making your way to the door.
"Mhm," He hums, reassured upon hearing that nothing too dire has happened. Before he can utter much else, you've already left.
When you return, it is as if you've completely forgotten he had something to say. You walk in with a subtle sway in your hips and it amuses him that you remain blissfully unaware of just how much that, by itself, is irresistible.
As you pass the couch where he sits before you can move out of reach, he rises, covering the distance in one long, elegant stride, he gently but firmly grasps your hand. With a subtle motion of his wrist, Neuvillette has you twirling on your feet, a graceful spin reminiscent of a swan on water.
With seamless finesse, he draws you towards him in one fluid motion, raising your joined hands in the air as you fall against his chest. Securely enveloping you with his arm, he finally dips you, a moment of romantic flourish that leaves you breathless and in a state of disarray.
A surge of warmth floods your cheeks, the sensation more felt than seen as you blink once and then twice. Gradually, your shocked gaze meets his, captivated by his pearl-like orbs and the grin playing at the corners of his lips.
The sight above you weakens your knees, fortunate enough to be held tightly in his arms ensuring that even if they faltered, he would be there to catch you.
"Do I not relish witnessing my beloved fully engrossed in her duties" His voice echoes with a deeply rich tone, akin to honey sweetening the senses. His words are sincere and brimming with honesty, expressing his genuine enjoyment in witnessing you fulfil your responsibilities with such vigour.
"No, I-" You stammered in your feeble attempt to respond, tripping over your short and flustered breaths.
"Each instance I believe I cannot possibly deepen my affection for you, I find myself proven wrong." He chuckles, lifting you from your dipped stance and turning you to face him. He places his arm at your lower back and pulls you snugly against him, chest to chest.
"Merely weeks ago, it was you who demonstrated patience while eagerly anticipating my availability. Now, I find myself in awe, understanding the sentiments involved. To be aware that you belong to me, yet unable to capture your attention for more than a fleeting moment. To know your hand perfectly fits in mine, yet rarely being able to hold it at every moment. To understand that my home is shared with you, yet seldom feel your body against mine. Truly, it is a form of torment"
"Neuvillette," You murmur, sultry and dripping with tenderness.
'Say it again' Internally, he yearns, 'Say my name again'
"It's nothing for which you need to apologize," He reads your thoughts, shaking his head emphatically, a gleaming smile reassuring your conscience. "However, it is not a sin to take a breath, dear. Take a moment to replenish yourself, and then you may return to your duties"
Neuvillette gently leans down, planting a tender kiss on your forehead before unravelling his hold on you. His hand entwines with yours, and he lifts it to his face. Plush lips, as soft as the gentle stroke that traced over your hair, venture towards the pinned strand, subjecting your poor scalp to a tingling sensation. He places a kiss on the back of your hand just as your hair falls freely, standing on end.
A lighthearted chuckle escapes him as he gathers your hair the best he could, and redoes its updo, now in a much neater fashion.
"There" Your heart leaps as he completes his actions.
You stand with an air of innocence, your bottom lip slightly protruding, and wide, innocent doe eyes peering into his soul. You struggle to swiftly absorb the unfolding events, and Neuvillette complicates matters further with his following statement.
"Just so you know, my dear, my lap is entirely at your disposal for you to sit upon while you work"
With that, he separates himself from you entirely, striding up to his desk to resume the work he abandoned hours ago. He refrains from looking back, but he knows of your flushed and flustered state, and it leaves him content with the knowledge that he can effortlessly divert your mind with his affection, unknowingly helping you ease and forget your troubles.
"Well, then?" He arches an eyebrow expectantly.
You nibble on your bottom lip, dispelling the shyness and embarrassment and accepting his invitation.
"Hardly possible to concentrate on work when you're so close to me" You murmur under your breath, though he catches your words. He speculates that may have been the reason you've been avoiding him while working.
Neuvillette settles his chin atop your shoulder, you huff, "I was almost done"
"Mhm"
"Really!"
"Mhm"
"Neuvillette!!"
"I have yet to utter a word" He buries his nose in the curve of your neck. "You're free to resume your work at any time, provided you stay comfortably settled on my lap"
"I still need to review one last draft!" You exclaimed, slumping against his chest. "It's my last project for the year."
"I'm aware," He says.
"Tomorrow, I may not have the energy or inclination to do it, who can say..."
"Calm yourself" He soothes, "You have a full week to review it. You've been toiling diligently, exhausting yourself. Spend a moment with me, will you not? And if perchance, tomorrow comes, and you find yourself lacking the motivation to address it, know that I am more than willing to review it on your behalf, Dearest. You need only ask"
The office space fell into silence, devoid of even a pin drop. No gentle breeze whispers through the windows, nor does the sound of flowing water fill the air – a serene tranquility envelopes you.
Neuvillette's gloved hands cradled yours, the touch of leather against skin formed a gentle connection despite the barrier. Amid the playful intertwining of your fingers, the work he had set out to complete was once again abandoned, fading into the background along with his focus.
In that instance, he shed the mantle of Chief of Justice to Fontaine, simply a man sitting there with you nestled lovingly in his lap.
Despite your efforts to delve into at least half of your concluding assignment, your concentration wavered, ultimately leading to a decision to just surrender to the moment. This led to a transition from academic pursuits to the pleasures of shared intimacy.
Your heart pounded with unbridled intensity as you observed the graceful movements of Neuvillette's fingers intertwining with yours and cradling them tenderly. He repeatedly flexes and tightens his grip, seemingly grappling with the surreal presence of the moment.
Leaning your head back against his chest, both of you share soft breaths, his heartbeat creating a soothing rhythm that gently lulls you into a deeper sense of tranquillity.
Neuvillette entertains the notion that something might have been amiss as you extricate your hand from his grasp, briefly leaving him in a state of mild perplexity. But he remains silent, and observant, and then finds contentment when you take his right hand and peel away the glove to unveil a canvas of porcelain-like hands and slender fingers. You renew the connection his hand extended towards you moments earlier, this time it's a better harmonious encounter of bare skin against skin─ a perfect equilibrium.
You bestow a gentle kiss upon the inner part of his wrist, your thumb tracing the intricacy of veins lining his skin.
"We have a lifetime ahead to spend with each other, do we not?"
"I envision myself nowhere else but at your side" He answers.
"Then I hope to spend every chance we get, like this" You say.
"There is nothing I desire more, nothing I cherish more, nothing I yearn for more" He whispers into the curve of your neck, warm breath teasing, accompanied by the gentle ghosting of his lips and peppering kisses.
Each kiss conveys a longing for your touch, your voice, your smile, your presence. Regardless of the uncertainties that may unfold in your future, irrespective of the challenges you both encounter as partners or individuals and no matter the hardships stemming from your responsibilities and duties to others, as well as the mental or physical struggles that may attempt to separate you. Finding the smallest of opportunities and making the most of every second to embrace each other, nothing could part you.
Not the vast universe, a multitude of realities, alternate dimensions, nor the Celestial entities beyond his influence.

hurt/comfort
wc: 0.6 k
a/n: Fontaine brought me back from the dead and my new fictional bf saved me from the writing slump ive been in for months. So enjoy this hurt/comfort fic w Neuvillette. To be honest he may be a bit ooc but this is entirely self indulgent so it's fine.
Tumblr media
For a few days now it had been drizzling in Fontaine. Anyone who had attempted to step outside their home would find themselves to be rained on ever so lightly by the suppposed tears trieckling from the Hydro Dragon's heart. To some the scent of freshly fallen rain was comforting while others' mood had only been dampened by the uncooperative weather.
The Chief Justice of Fontaine was glancing at the rain outside from the window in his office. His view was ever so slighlty obscured by the tears slowly rolling down his cheeks. Hisbittersweet moment of peacefull silence was interupted by the creak of his office door opening as his concerned lover stepped through.
"Oh mon beau... What has gotten you so down?" They asked in a sombre tone adressing the judge. Despite not seeing his damp cheeks due to his turned back they were certain of the state their lover was in.
"I simply missed you is all." Neuvillette responded, attempting to dismiss his beloved's worries. Upon hearing his repsonse their concern for the man grew tenfold. They slowly approached him, moving to stand in front of him, offering his hadns a comforting squeeze.
"We both know thats not it Neuvi" they said hoping that the endearing nickname might help soothe him even a little. "You don't have to worry about burdening me with your thoughts. Please tell me what it is that truly saddens you so I can help." they continued.
Neuvillette hesitated to answer for a while, his expression betraying his inner turmoil. Eventually he decided to give in to his conflicting thoughts and confide in his love, after all he would trust them with anything. "The last trial I judged didn't qo quite as I expected it to…" he trailed off, still hesitating to look his partner in the eye. "A man had murdered his brother's wife in a jealous fit of rage. As the gruesome details of the case were revealed during the trial I couldn't help but think of what I'd do if something like this ever happened to you. I had previously thought I understood humans but I grow more and more unsure of that with every case. Its truly something to have to see people go against what I had previously thought to be human nature, becoming so overtaken by wrath that they do teh unspeakable." Neuvillette said sadly. "Cases like this make me realise that I now have something to loose to the unreliable nature of humanity. You. Im not used to that, so when the thought becomes apparent again I… I don't know what to do about it. So I end up overtaken by emotions I don't truly understand struggling to navigate my own thoughts and feelings." He finally declared dejectedly.
"Oh love… You worry far too much my dear. Now come here" They said as they moved to embrace Neuvillette. One hand was drawing patterns on his skin through the fabric of his clothes, the other softly carding through his hair as he wept silently into their shoulder all while maintaing their embrace. They'd lean down occasionally, leaving a kiss on his forehead or cheek soothing Neuvillette with affection.
The rain was letting up as Neuvillette calmed down, his thoughts regaining momentary stability. He lifted his face from his lover's damp shoulder hands moving to trace his jawline. Those hands moved up his soft skin, moving to wipe the remaining tears from the corners of his eyes. Now that the Chief Justice was no lpnger leaning down, standing at full height his lover would lean up, slightly raising on their tip tops to kiss the tear tracks adorning his pale cheeks.
The two remained in Neuvillette's office in a comfortable silence, preffering to let their actions do the talking instead of words, showering each other in affection, love shining brightly in both their eyes.

No one knew about the duke and the chief's relationship, and they'd like to keep it that way. It wasn't that it would be frowned upon but the two were unsure about how it would affect their current positions. Few Melusines knew about the relationship, and the traveller as well. No one outside of that little bubble would ever find out.
In Neuvillette’s office, the two stood embracing each other. It was one of the rare days where Wriothesley would visit Neuvillette, and he treasured those. Wriothesley could feel Neuvillette's heartbeat against his hand, the chief in Wriothesley’s eyes was the best thing to happen to him. After his childhood of misery, he finally found happiness.
Until a week later, photos all over the steambird appeared of the two's relationship. Taken by none other than the most famous reporter in Fontaine. Neuvillette had been so wrapped up in Wriothesley that he'd forgotten about the meeting he was supposed to have with Miss Charlotte. The two men were filled with so much anxiety it affected their jobs. How would people react now they were out? How would people view them? Would they still be looked up to as leaders or not?
A little while later, things still hadn't died down. It was all Fontaine, possibly all of Teyvat could talk about. Neuvillette and Wriothesley did try to deny these ‘accusations’ but it backfired as there was too much evidence. Rain began to pour down for the next week or so.
As darkness seeped through the sky, the black-haired man walked towards his boyfriend's place. Despite many reporters surrounding the house, he managed to sneak in unnoticed. He tracked trails of water and leaves through the house, he knew Neuvillette didn't mind but he still felt guilty. He placed his boots by the door and went to find Neuvillette. Walking through his house he felt empty, the Melusines were trying to control the crowd outside, and Neuvillette was most likely in his room.
“Neuvillette? Are you there?” No answer, so he tried again. “Neuvillette, love?”
The only noise that was made was random creeks here and there. Wriothesley went back to his search, he couldn't remember where Neuvillette's room was. It was quite a big house, just him and the Melusines, sometimes that could be quite lonely especially when few Melusines and just Neuvillette were here. Finally, Wriothesley found Neuvillette, he was curled up in a ball on the bed. His white hair spread out against his back, his robes were crinkled and his eyes were puffy and red.
“Neuvillette?”
His head shot up looking at his boyfriend.
“Wriothesley!” Neuvillette stood up very quickly and embraced Wriothesley tightly.
“Hey hey, you've been crying.” Wriothesley softened his eyes. “Is it because of what the steam bird said?”
Wriothesley could feel his shoulder becoming wet with tears. Neuvillette couldn't say anything without his voice breaking, so he just nodded.
“Why don't we lay down?”
Neuvillette could only nod.
The men walked over to the bed and embraced each other once more. Neuvillette was curled into a ball yet again and Wriothesley had his arms around him. If someone walked in and had no idea of the circumstances they would think it was cute. They weren't going to leave each other despite everything that had happened, they loved each other. But people just didn't know how to mind their own business. It's then that people get hurt.

— "Ah, wrong cup."
It's a warm morning, yet the shade of the light canopy of trees provides ample comfort. At your words, however, the amicable conversation halts. Gingerly, you place his cup back on its saucer, uttering a quiet apology. "Sorry, sorry..."
Ugh, a quiet moment with someone you'd been pining after for ages, and you likely just sabotaged any chance you had. Making someone uncomfortable is surely not a way to have someone fall head over heels for you. You cautiously glanced upwards, catching the sight of... something you didn't expect...!?
He hid in his hand, raised and flush against his face. It was rather insufficient in the whole "hiding" department, however, for you could still clearly see the fluster on his features and the red cast across the tips of his ears. Just above the cover of his fingers were his eyes, hurriedly averted from yours. His mouth was slightly ajar, but in the moments that passed, his lips moved to form whispers you couldn't quite catch.
You stood, frantic. Really, every one of your plans was going awry. "I'm sorry! I, I'll go get you a new cup-"
"He caught his hand in his before you could fully depart, clutching it tightly. His usually cool skin was warm. "N, No, I- It's fine..."
He watched your face brighten with relief as you sat back down, completely cheery again, and released a breath quietly.
Ah, how was he supposed to tell you that the mere sight of your lips touching where he had put his made his heart skip a beat?
— It simply wasn't fair.

— "Wait, let me try..."
Word had gotten around of a new drink, supposedly "the best in all of teyvat"... naturally, that called for a timely visit. It didn't exactly matter who you went with, though who were you fooling, it did, and he'd been the first one that came to mind when you were drafting a letter. Now, he stood by your side, leisurely swinging his arms while he walked and smiling smugly.
The reason? The moment you reached into your pocket to fish out your wallet to pay the fee for two drinks, you'd found your pockets empty, and that's where he had swooped in, graciously handing over his mora instead. The moment the two of you exited the vicinity of the drink stall, however, he somehow materialized your wallet once more and placed it in your hands with a cat-like grin. That little... you'd be sure to treat him to a meal sometime soon, a favor like that couldn't just be gone unpaid.
...That, and it was a convenient excuse to spend another outing with him.
"Hey, you got the limited edition flavor? C'mon, give me just a sip..." You beamed when he handed said drink down towards you, taking a sip from his straw — until you realized just what you'd done, of course.
It wasn't like it was something dire, not by any means. You were rather the romantic, and the fact that... well, hadn't the two of you just kissed indirectly?
You didn't voice your thoughts, only meekly retreated after handing the bottle back to him, growing even more flustered when your fingers brushed against his in the process. He seemed to hear them, however, and a smirk made its way onto his lips.
"Oh, don't tell me you were aiming for an indirect kiss all along?"
"W- No!" Ugh, that twinkle in his eyes was dangerous. It's easy to see that he doesn't believe you in the slightest. Yet, before you can dispense another rebuttal, he reaches a hand up to your hair and makes a mess of it.
— "Aha, who knew you were so sly~"

𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓 — alhaitham, XIAO, albedo, diluc, neuvillette
— "Is something wrong?"
Well, not exactly "wrong", per se. Instead, there was definitely something wrong with you in particular.
The situation started off like any other would. You found the man in his usual place, and greeted him with a smile, to which he nodded in response. He was a busy person, so you'd decided to take the initiative and make him a boxed lunch, only planning to give it to him and then let him carry on with whatever tasks he needed to complete — only... hey, wasn't it too out of character of him to ask you to feed him??
He glanced up at you, his head subconsciously tilting to the side. Just with that simple movement, a figurative arrow struck your heart. "If it's too much trouble, nevermind-"
You awkwardly coughed into your fist, trying to disperse any awfully hopeful thoughts of "hey, isn't this so romantic!?" in your head — yearning for him was one thing, but projecting your imagination of him would be another entirely. "No, it's fine- I was just caught off guard, is all..." At this point, you were more so convincing yourself than him. You dipped your head in a nod to yourself. Of course, he was so swamped with duties that he couldn't spare the time to feed himself, that was the case, wasn't it?
"Here, open wide..." You took a portion of the food and lifted it up to his lips, and he ate it agreeably. Hamster. He's like a hamster, a thought you really shouldn't be having considering how his disposition was, but seeing him swiftly chewing the portion in his cheeks... you cleared your throat, only to flinch with a start upon realizing he'd taken the utensils from you. Now, he held some of the lunch up to you, gesturing it to your mouth.
"Eh, but this is for you-" You declined, yet the insistence in his gaze only grew.
"You brought it for me, so you should have some as well."
"Well... alright," not willing to bother with an argument you were not likely to win, you ate what he hovered before you gratefully, trying to ignore the way he was staring at you as you ate.
W, Wait, hold on, isn't that the same cutlery he used-
"Your face is red. Did you choke? Here, let me-"
"No, it's just that- we, just now- ah, it's nothing."
— "Mhm."

weeping dragon
Tumblr media
pairing: neuvillette x fem!reader
summary: neuvillette thinks he isn’t deserving of your love.
content: cliche !!!, reader trapped in his house bc of rain, lil antsy but happy ending
wc: 800
a/n: mm hii!! first fic here! I hope you enjoy it I kind of wrote it in twenty minutes and I’m just publishing it without beta reading bc (we die like men) I’m just too in love with neuv and I want to share it with the world lolol
Tumblr media
Neuvillette couldn’t bring himself to even think about making a move.
He kept many secrets, and every time he faced your bright smile he would remember it was not his place to disturb your peace. After all, how could a young woman like you endure the dangerous claws of a dragon?
You had stopped by his house to discuss the latest trial and his emotions got the best of him, causing a rain to start pouring.
A storm was approaching; lighting was seen through the window and low thunders could be heard. Neuvillette plagued himself under his breath, hoping there would be a day where he could better control his feelings.
“Here,” he said as he handed you the cup of tea. You watched the lighting curiously, “I do not think the storm will pass for a few hours. You should stay. For the night, I mean.”
You took the cup of tea and averted your eyes from the window to Neuvillette’s face. You studied him with caution, as if it was the first time you ever saw the man — even though you worked together for many months.
“Are you okay?” you asked, ignoring completely his offer.
The words got stuck in his throat and, for a few seconds, he really thought he wouldn’t answer. The man sipped on his tea, his mind racing while trying to figure out why you would ask that all of the sudden. “May I ask why are you asking me such a question?”
It was a small gesture, but he saw it all the same; the way you flexed your hand. There was something you wanted to grab?
Something you wanted to hold?
“They say… It rains when the Hydro Dragon weeps. Yeah, that's what they say,” you murmured and once again looked out the window. To the storm. “The Hydro Dragon. That would be you, right?”
Neuvillette almost choked on his tea, every part of his body malfunctioning and leaving him with only one thing for sure: in his entire existence, this was the first time he was left completely and utterly speechless.
Your warm and comforting eyes turned to him, and you grabbed his cup of tea to put it alongside yours on the coffee table. “Neuvillette,” you spoke his name as if it was a piece of poetry you were yet to learn — eager to do so, “Talk to me.”
And then— your hands, so small and fragile if compared to his, touched him. Your fingers traced his, and you embraced his hand between yours. He could feel the warmth of your skin contrasting against his cold one, pulling him closer, closer, closer.
“When did you figure it out?” was the first thing he said, scared it may be recent. If so, there still is time for you to run, for you to escape. To turn your back and never see him again. It’s probably the best for you, he knows, but this little selfish part in him can’t stand the thought of seeing you gone.
“A month ago or so, it doesn't matter,” you’re quick to cut the subject. “I didn't mention it because I knew you didn't want me to. I’m just worried, that's all.”
Worried.
She is worried.
The realization clicks in Neuvillette’s mind, for the first time in so long acknowledging that maybe, just maybe, he was too, deserving of someone’s concern and care.
“You are saying it does not matter,” he repeats as if to confirm what he just heard.
I pushed you because I cared about you. I pushed you because you made me feel good and comfortable. I pushed you because I thought my true self would frighten you.
Yet, you’re here. And you’re telling me it doesn’t matter.
“It doesn’t. Never did,” you frown. “I just wanna know, no— I need to know why it is raining, Neuvillette. Why would you weep? I’m here with you, talk to me.”
Without giving it a second thought, Neuvillette’s right hand finds your lower back and in a split second you're pressed against his chest, the tightest hug you have ever been given. He’s much taller than you, and you can feel perfectly as he inhales your scent and hugs you tightly.
“Neuv—”
“I thought I had to restrain myself from you. I thought I was no good,” he finally speaks his mind, distancing himself enough for you to see his face; the weeping Dragon. Oh, the melancholy in his eyes.
The eyes of someone who almost lost something precious.
“Neuvillette,” you whispered. “There’s nothing better for me than you.”
And it was true; so you pulled on his hair just enough to have him connecting your lips, a sigh of relief escaping him as if there was nothing in this world he had anticipated more.

Title: There is no love here.
Character(s): Neuvillette (Genshin Impact)
Summary: It was an arranged marriage between you and Neuvillette and you promised him the day before the wedding that you would not cause trouble for him nor be disloyal however you would also never love him. Warnings/tags: Yandere themes, fem!reader, arrange marriage, one-sided love, unrequited love, lil angsty, 2.6k words Part 2 here! But he didn't want to let go.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was your husband for a very long time, long before a child's grandfather was born into the world. Yet you and he never had that loving relationship that humans have between a husband and wife. He was too busy and lacked the emotional care you needed when you were given to him as a bride by your parents who thought this was for the best.
You age slowly compared to humans, you have the luxury to take your time as you watch humans try their best to live the most with what they have. It was a kind of beauty in your eyes, the determination in those of shorter life spans than yours. And it was a fear that your parents harvested in their hearts.
For they wanted you happy and satisfied as time slowly passed by. They didn't want you to face the pain of losing someone you loved so much all because you fell in love with someone who didn't have a long life span, that while you looked young and loveable your lover would become old and tired.
That was something that Neuvillette knew when your father worked right alongside him. Your father told him about you, and about his worries. All he wished was for you to be with someone who could care for you for as long as you lived.
It was Neuvillette who offered this arrangement something that delighted your parents. That you and he would marry and in return he would make sure that you would never have your needs and wants unfulfilled, instead as long as it was not impossible nor illegal in the eyes of the law you would have everything you want in your hands.
You were shocked when you heard you have been engaged to someone who you barely even know. You struggled but in the end, you relented when so much was stacked against you.
You asked Neuvillette the day before the wedding why he chose to marry you. Hopefully with a reason it could make it easier for you to love him but when you saw his face bare without emotions you knew it was not love.
You could not help but flinch when you heard his reason, the reasons why he chose to marry you all for the sake of your parents' worries. Loyal and trusted subordinates of his, he wanted to give them something, to rest their anxious minds when they had supported him many times in the past. You understood that it was never between you and him, you understood that there could be no love in this relationship.
Calmly you told him that you would marry him, that you would not cause trouble at the wedding in front of many nor would you trouble him after marriage. You told him that after the wedding you would never cheat on him nor would you even be disloyal. However, you also told him that you would never look at him as a lover. You would respect him for who he was but you would never love him.
Neuvillette was silent as he watched you leave through the doors after respectfully saying your goodbye and leaving his office.
The wedding had gone without a hitch, and the people clapped in congratulations. The man that they respected, Chief Justice Neuvillette, had finally gotten married. It was on the front covers of newspapers and articles for weeks. It was rowdy in the Court of Fontaine, many women cried their tears out that it wasn't them who walked down the wedding aisle while others talked about how beautiful the couple was together, or how the news said that the hydro archon had given them her blessings.
Yet while the city was bustling about the news of the newlywed couple, the house where the lived couple was silent as stone. Neuvillette had granted your request that you and he would have separate living quarters. Your own bed and your own room, your privacy away from the man you wed a mere few days ago. The honeymoon was decidedly skipped, as Neuvillette was a busy man too busy at court to even have time for something like that. It was preferable that way, you thought to yourself rarely did you have to meet him apart from breakfast and dinner.
Furina commented about it as she looked at Neuvillette but closed her mouth when he explained the reason that he could not rest when justice needed to be served. He didn't explain anything more than that for that was between you and him.
And it was like that for years, Neuvillette had given you everything you supposedly want. From luxuries and delicious food to dresses and pieces of jewelry and tickets to events and more. You always thanked him for his thoughts yet when you looked at his gift it was obvious in his eyes that this was not what you wanted nor did you ever think that this was something that he himself picked.
It was simply something he got, thinking that it was expected for a husband to shower his wife with presents whenever he got the chance.
Still, you wore the dresses and accessories and attended the VIP shows and exclusive events with the pass and tickets he gave you. You smiled when reporters and curious people approached you. When they asked about you and your relationship with Neuvillette you would coat the truth with syrup and sugar. It was still the truth that he got you the hat that you wore or the front-row seat ticket to that popular theater show but they need not need to know what it was like within the house, aside from the presents that he gave you, aside that you would rather prefer it that way when they comment of his lack romance as you go alone to such events without him by your side.
It was rare after all that more often than not whatever plans he made would be canceled due to his busy schedule.
You prefer to keep it this way, that you would be satisfied enough with this much already having thrown all fantasies and daydreams of this loving relationship ever since that day before the wedding. Neuvillette though... for him it was different.
He lacked an understanding of human emotions so these feelings within his chest as he looked at you slowly unknowingly creeped up to him seeping within his body as his veins absorbed these feelings. It wasn't a sudden realization nor a surprise bomb bursting in his chest. Neuvillette would say it was akin to something like an empty lake barren and dry suddenly had a small stream slowly start to fill it up again yet was never noticed.
You kept your promise that you made a long time ago, that you would never cheat on him, and that you would not cause trouble. You were respectful, as you sat beside him at the dining table eating quietly. If he had awkwardly tried to open up a conversation with you, you would take the reins for him and start a small conversation between the two of you. He was always left with regret after those conversations when it was quickly cut short due to an empty plate or when one side had plans or trials they had to attend to.
Sometimes you would visit his office, staying there for a while as you made him tea, also plating the sweets that you have bought before coming here, and then sitting quietly on a sofa in the office reading a book with your own plate of desserts and tea. He had become rather comfortable by your presence near him in those days, finding it sometimes much easier to concentrate when you were there. He was mildly disappointed when you would leave when a garde would come rushing in with something of an emergency or when an important matter needed to be discussed between him and someone else. He would watch you leave, your back facing him not once did he ever see you look back.
It hurt him more than he himself knew.
When did it start to feel like waves crashing in his stomach, a whirlpool that was pulling his organs and lungs? As he arrived home late only to see you waiting for him in the living room, sometimes reading or other hobbies that you had in your personal time. Looking up you heard the front door open and heavy steps, you greeted him casually with a yawn. The first time you did this surprised Neuvillette, as he asked you why you didn't go to sleep when it was so late at night. It was a half heart answer, stating that you were his wife asking if he ate. If he did eat then you would head to your room after asking him about his day and if he didn't, you would head to the kitchen making sure there was food on the table before leaving again.
Leaving him in the middle of the hallway or kitchen late at night alone. He wasn't sure if he would be better off if you didn't do this then maybe the feeling would feel as hollow, as lonely in his heart.
Sometimes he caught himself staring at the picture frame of you and him that was placed on his office table. It was something that many humans did and something he decided to follow. The smile on your face as you looked at the Kamera while holding his arm. You looked happy here most would say, yet Neuvillette could see how empty your eyes were.
The same eyes that he saw every day even after years flew nothing has changed at all, not once. They were empty, hollow, lacking that spark that he saw many couples have, that shine that many older married couples have toward each other. That love and affection that showed brightly in their eyes was empty in yours. Instead, you looked happier, more at peace, and relaxed when he wasn't there. The shine in your eyes brightened as you read an interesting book or found something that interested you.
He saw the yearning in your eyes as you watched others express their affections to one another, their plans and hopes that were made together in front of the fountain. Only for your eyes to dull again when he called out your name.
When did it start to drive him insane...
When did he start to have this frustrated feeling in his chest? Never once did you look at him with distaste or hatred. You always put an effort to follow him, his plans, and his beliefs. Conversation wise you were also patient with him, teaching him sometimes when he doesn't understand something. Not once did you or him ever fight the many years you were together, unlike the many trials he watched between angry lovers.
There was no love, no affection. Like you promised you told him that you would respect him you would also never love him. In front of others, you would link hands and arms with him, as was expected from most couples in the eyes of the public, especially when they were as mainstream as the two of you. But it was never more than that.
Neuvillette was curious as to what it was like when he saw the "lovey-dovey" couples, and what it would be like if you loved him like that. Some would wrap their arms around their love, some stealing kisses when they thought no one was looking. He would watch the husband's protective hold over his wife's waist, or how they would softly smile at each other when their eyes met.
But that wasn't meant for him.
You knew of his tears, the rain that fell from the sky. You were a being with a long life while younger than him you knew who he was. Those days when the dark clouds stayed in the sky a little longer than usual you become more caring as you stayed by his side speaking finally when he spoke. Sometimes you wouldn't ask him what was the matter instead changing the topic to something more light-hearted, to keep his mind off it sometimes you would ask him which were most of the time few.
But in the end, after a while… you would always leave him. Problem solved, for the most part it was true yet Neuvillette wished you would stay a little longer.
He watched you, as you spoke and he could not help but wonder if it was only him who started to love you. Neuvillette thought that maybe after all this time maybe, just maybe there would be something, he had heard of how some people could develop feelings towards someone they once disliked after seeing them often.
Yet when he looked at your eyes there was kindness, but rather than love, there was pity, a sense of responsibility.
He must have been a fool to think that.
He must be insane to become like this, as the rain continued to fall from the sky he stared at his home where he saw you by the window. The curtains were closed but he could see the silhouette of your figure looking down at a book as you drank your tea. From here, you looked peaceful, from here he could see that you were satisfied with what you had.
However, he was not.
His heart was shaken, as silent words whispered in his ears in his mind. That you would never love him, that the only reason why you were here was because you were forced to. You didn't choose to be with him but instead chose to accept the fact that you were forced to marry him. Neuvillette felt as if the floor could crumble any moment, that any moment whatever you and he had would crumble into nothing. That one day you could fall in love with another man, and look at him with not only respect but love and adoration that he never had.
It made his heart bitter and hurt as anxiety consumed him. He didn't want you to leave. He didn't want you to leave his side. He ignored your surprised look when he held your hand tightly when you looked away from him in your walk. For a moment you looked away from the front and looked at the couples and people that he unconsciously tightened his grip on your arm. For a moment you thought you saw his face hurt, as anxiety swirled in his eyes.
He loved you so much. He loved you so much that he was scared.
As you sleep so peacefully in your bed, deep in your slumber you didn't hear the sound of steps that walked towards your bed. Sharp blue eyes that you once called beautiful, much to his surprise in the past, looked at your sleeping frame as his fingers pushed the strands of hair that covered your face.
Neuvillete watched you sleep, in your world that didn't have him in it. He wished that he could follow you, he desperately wished that he was within your beautiful eyes. That you would love him just as much as he loved you. He didn't want you to leave him, even if you wanted he didn't think he would be able to let you go. It would be impossible to let you go unless you wanted the world to rain till the whole of Fontaine to become nothing more than a lifeless sea.
Neuvillette could not let you go, even when guilt would be the one who kills him he would never let you go.

“Pouting won’t get you out of this.”
“I’m not—” You paused, gritting your teeth as his shoulder pressed uncomfortably into your stomach. In retribution, you did your best to drive your knee into his chest, to let him know he was hurting you without admitting that you were even more fragile than he’d assumed, but if he cared about your attempts at resistance, if he so much as noticed that you’d moved at all, Wriothesley didn’t waver. “I’m not pouting, I’m trying to get away from my fucking stalker and his—” Another fit of thrashing. This time, Wriothesley was kind enough to tighten his hold on your legs. “—fucking dog. Why is that so hard for you two to get that through your heads?”
He hummed, drumming his fingers against your thigh. “Might be how often call us… what was it, again? A stalker and a dog?”
You scowled, crossing your arms. From your current position, slung over his shoulder, the remnants of one of his rope snares still wrapped around your left ankle, you could only see the thin footpath he was following and the dense forest that laid beyond it. The tree canopy was too thick to let you see the sky (something you mourned and Neuvillette adored, considering his fondness for early evening walks), but rays of golden sunlight still managed to pierce the endless sprawl of branches and leaves, marking the first signs of dusk. Neuvillette had still been asleep when you slipped through the door Wriothesley had forgotten to lock when he left for his daily hunting trip, but he’d be waking up soon; you could already imagine him rising from his canopied bed, picture the diluted shock he’d wear as he stepped into your bedroom for his first meal of the night only to find it empty. You weren’t surprised Wriothesley was so eager to get you home. Neuvillette was stoic at the worst of times, but the thought of letting his pet blood-bag get away was one of the few things that could get a reaction out of him.
Not that Wriothesley was much better. He was more level-headed, sure, more likely to let you wear something aside from ivory nightgowns and untangle you from Neuvillette’s arms when his hunger left him in a blood-thirsty daze, but that never stopped him from taking Neuvillette’s side when you found yourself in another petty argument, from standing in the doorway with a smile and a dreamy look in his eyes as Neuvillette fastened a lace collar around your neck, a collar just a touch too small to cover the twin puncture marks at the base of your throat and just a touch too similar to the steel choker that sat at the base of Wriothesley’s throat more often than not. He might’ve been human, something as mortal and as delicate as you were, but he was still a monster. He’d be crushed under Neuvillette’s heel a thousand times before he ever considered showing you mercy.
The shadow of their mansion was coming into view, now – the lonely building just as dark and just as intimidating as it’d been the first time Wriothesley lured inside. It stretched on as far as the eye could see in either direction and towered above you like some awful, looming thing; thick curtains constantly drawn over its many windows and every surface of its exterior constantly covered in a thick layer of creeping ivy. The rotting boards of the front porch groaned under his weight as he approached the front door, and you braced yourself as he cursed under his breath, patting down the pockets of his heavy flannel. You weren’t sure why they bothered keeping the door locked at all – aside from what it took to keep you trapped inside, at least. Neuvillette was the most dangerous thing for the next hundred miles, and Wriothesley was a close second.
The inside of the mansion was just as ominous; any light from the outside world captured and suffocated before it could penetrate Neuvillette’s endless abyss. You squirmed, hoping Wriothesley would at least let you cross the threshold on your own, but he wasn’t so kind, only responding to your silent plea with a playful squeeze to your calf as he made his way past the entryway and down an unlit hall, passing several torn paintings and overturned tables before finally shrugging open the door to Neuvillette’s study. A bottle of red wine sat open and half-drained on his mahogany desk, a small fire smoldering in the stone hearth he only rarely used. Neuvillette sat beside it, dressed in a simple black robe, his eyes blearily focused on the low-burning flames. He looked concerned, but his apprehension faded as Wriothesley carried you into his line of sigh, disappearing completely as you were hauled off of Wriothesley’s shoulder and dropped into Neuvillette’s lap. One of his hands found its way to your waist, its twin cupping your cheek, tilting your head back and allowing him to press a lingering kiss into the top of your head. “Beloved,” he muttered, practically breathing out his pet name for you before turning to Wriothesley. “Thank you, duke. I’m sorry you’ve had to inconvenience yourself for the sake of what should be my responsibility again.”
With a groan, Wriothesley fell onto the foot of the fireplace, shrugging off his coat. Where Neuvillette chose to hide his bloodlust behind a thick veil of unwavering niceties and delicate elegance, Wriothesley leaned into his brutality; broad muscle straining at the confines of his black undershirt, scruff cropping up faster than he could clear it away, his hair an untamable mess of black and grey and his clothes caked in an ever constant layer of mud and wear (save for his metal choker, of course, which was always polished to conspicuous shine). His eyes lit up when he heard Neuvillette ask after him, posture straightening like that of a soldier called to attention. You’d been too generous when you called him a dog. He was a mutt, too mindlessly obedient to ever question his master’s orders. “How many centuries has it been since you’ve had a reason to call me that?”
“It should be four this year.” Another kiss, this one to the corner of your jaw. You could feel the points of his fangs, still tucked behind his lips but no less dangerous for their momentary concealment. “Don’t you have something to say to him, as well?”
It took a moment to register he was talking to you, another to recognize the hypocrisy of what he was asking you. Your pressed frown fell into an open-mouthed balk. “Absolutely not.” And then, when Neuvillette held strong, “You can’t expect me to thank him for keeping me trapped here—”
“Silence.” He didn’t raise his voice, didn’t bear his fangs or dig his pointed nails into your thigh – he didn’t have to. All it took was that tone. Assertive, but not quite forceful. Lulling, but no softer than the wood and stone of his hellish mansion. Immediately, you shut your mouth. Neuvillette closed his eyes, letting out a raspy sigh before taking you by the hips and turning you in his lap, so that you faced outward rather than into his chest. That was enough to earn Wriothesley’s full attention, perking up as you were perched on the edge of Neuvillette’s lap. “Why don’t we try that again. Do you have anything to say to Wriothesley?”
You glared pointedly at the floor. “Thank you. For bringing me back?”
“And?”
“And...” This was the part you hated the most. If there’d been an alternative – a dungeon they could’ve thrown you into, a brand they could sear into your skin – you would’ve embraced it with open arms. But, that was the worst part about dealing with an captor. He had all the time in the world to make you bask in your own humiliation, and he never seemed to tire of the pasttime. “And, thank you for making sure I didn’t get hurt in the forest.”
As if there was anything out there that could’ve hurt you more than they did. Still, it seemed to appease Neuvillette, who let out an approving hum as he turned to Wriothesley. “What do you think? Be honest, this time. No lesson was ever taught with a gentle hand.”
He took a long moment to look over you, another to wet his lips. Wordlessly, dependent on the pure desperation in your eyes, you begged him not to listen to Neuvillette, to take your side just this once, but your improvised attempts at telepathic communication proved unsuccessful. “It could’ve been more genuine,” he admitted, with a slight shrug. “Didn’t have much nice to say on the way back, either.”
“Is that so?” His fingertips drummed against your side. “Why don’t you join us?”
Wriothesley didn’t hesitate, practically stumbling over himself as he crawled to Neuvillette’s feet. He came to rest on his knees, hand braced against the rug between his thighs and his cheek only a hair’s width from Neuvillette’s leg, as if waiting for permission to press against him. He always looked at his most relaxed there, on the floor, patiently waiting for an order from his master. It was hard to tell whether it was a skill learned through time, or if subservience was just in his nature.
His obedience was rewarded with a breathy chuckle, a hand run through his unruly hair. Wriothesley was more lax with himself than he usually was, letting his eyes fall shut as he melted into Neuvillette’s touch. “Since your tongue is so uncooperative today,” Neuvillette started, leaning forward just far enough to rest his chin on your shoulder. “How do you think you can show our dear helper how grateful you are?”
A bolt of cold dread shot down your spine. You moved to stand, to get away, but Neuvillette’s arm wrapped tight around your midriff, keeping you pinned against him despite your resistance. “Neuvi’,” you mumbled, squirming against him. “Please, Neuvi’, I don’t want to—”
“Now you’re going to play nice?” His hand fell to your knee, drawing your legs apart. Wriothesley filled the space before you could clench them shut again, his mouth immediately latching onto the inside of your thigh, his dull teeth burying themselves in the plush of your exposed skin. You cursed under your breath, trying to shake him off, but he held tight, fists curling around your ankles to keep you spread and exposed as Neuvillette watched on, his grin pressing into the crook of your throat. “That’s a little cruel, beloved. Can’t you see how excited he is?”
You could. There was a glassy sheen over his half-lidded eyes, a hunch to his posture that meant he was too distracted with you to care about how he held himself. You’d slipped out in a rush, eager to get as far as you could before Neuvillette woke up. In your haste, you hadn’t bothered to change out of the simple, silken frock you were wearing; a choice you only came to regret as Neuvillette dragged the tattered hem to your waist, as Wriothesley’s attention drifted from your thighs to your panties, the lacey fabric torn away with little more than a curl of his fingers and a throaty growl. That, more than anything, caught you off-guard. It wasn’t a threat, but it was more hostile than anything he’d ever directed towards you before. It wasn’t a sound someone like him, someone like you, should’ve been capable of making.
Neuvillette must’ve felt the way you stiffened against him. He pressed an open-mouthed kiss into the curve of your throat, just a touch too close to the vein he preferred to drink from, then another into the dip of your shoulder. “Surely, you must’ve noticed how scarce Wriothesley makes himself around this time of the month.” He paused, laughing airily. “He’d already be safely locked away in the cellar, if you hadn’t made him run out and fetch you. I suppose it must’ve slipped his mind while he was looking for you.”
“I don’t—” A tongue, broader than it should’ve been, hotter than it should’ve been, ran over your slit. “But, he’s supposed to be—”
“Human?” You refused to look at him, refused to acknowledge what he was doing to you, but you could feel his teeth ghosting over your skin, their usually dull tips beginning to sharpen into something more pointed, more animalistic. His tongue slipped into your entrance, thick enough to stretch you open with little more than its curling tip, and Neuvillette’s focus fell to your clit, left neglected by Wriothesley’s unwavering concentration on lapping up as much of your (humiliatingly, quickly accumulating) slick as he could. His thumb toyed with the sensitive bundle of nerves as he went on. “He is rather young, as far as immortal beings are concerned. He made an adorable puppy, back when creatures of the night were free to roam as they pleased, but he’s matured since his days of village razing and cattle slaughtering. I think you’ll find he’s learned how to keep his fangs to himself.” Wriothesley nipped gently at the junction of your thigh. You winced and Neuvillette added, “More or less.”
You could only bring yourself to half-listen to what he was saying. Wriothesley was growing more wild by the second, his formerly languid movements now hasty and agitated, little groans and growls joining the wet, disgusting sounds quickly filling the study. You felt claws that hadn’t been there a moment ago dig into your ankles, his already impressive build taking on bulk that would’ve been possible for anything natural, anything human. It wasn’t enough to just look away, anymore – you shut your eyes completely, bowing your head and curling into yourself as Wriothesley ate you out like a man— no, not a man, a beast starved. The cool marble of Neuvillette’s chest was almost a comfort when compared to the raw heat of Wriothesley’s mouth. It might’ve been more soothing, had he not been taking so much joy in your suffering.
“He’s always been prone to getting carried away. I used to have to fetch him at dawn – he could never seem to make it home before the moon set and he was left bare and unconscious in the vineyard of some poor nobleman.” He pulled back, letting Wriothesley’s cold nose grind against your clit in his place. You weren’t free from his touch for very long, though. The array of ribbons that kept the bodice of your frock drawn tight were undone, the neckline loosened and allowed to fall to your shoulders. “I’ve always preferred a more direct approach. The occasional drunkard taken off the street and drained was always enough to keep me sated.” He paused, cupped the curves of your chest. “Until I came across you, of course.”
You felt his fangs scrape over your neck, but he didn’t have time to bite down before you lurched forward, the sporadic movements of Wriothesley’s tongue bringing you to a sudden, unsteady climax. It was abrupt enough, violent enough to make tears swell in the corners of your eyes, to steal a ragged gasp from your lungs despite your attempts to swallow back any pathetic sound your weak-willed body might’ve wanted to make. For the first time, you couldn’t stop yourself from looking at him, letting your gaze fall onto the black-furred, oversized thing between your legs. He was unrecognizable, black fur and a wolf-like muzzle swallowing any familiar trait you might’ve latched onto. Pointed ears laid flat against his scalp, a grey-tipped tail brushed over the floor lazily behind him as he moved to keep going, to milk every last drop out of you, but Neuvillette reached down and took him by the metal collar now pressing flush against his throat. There was a low, drawn-out whine as he was dragged up and away from your pussy, but Neuvillette’s cruelty was limited to you.
“We spent hours talking about what to do with you, when he first brought you home.” He spoke absent-mindedly, muttering against your throat as he guided Wriothesley onto his knees. Even at only a fraction of his full height, he was tall enough to loom over you, to replace your limited world with a towering shadow of black fur and white teeth. He was panting, his chin glistening with slick and drool, what was left of his tattered clothes torn away in a few aggerated swipes of his claws. You’d been wrong, again – not every part of him was unfamiliar. His eyes were still there, the grey clouded and his pupils blown out but still undeniably his. Still fixed entirely on you.
“I thought he should turn you as soon as possible, but he protested, claimed the transformation would be too much for you.” He bowed his head, his lips ghosting over the shell of your ear. “Between you and I, there might be a chance he’s hoping I’ll give in first. He does his best to hide it, but he tends to sulk whenever I choose to feed from you. I think he’s hoping we might both have to rely on him.”
Clawed hands curled around the arms of his chair, the wood creaking under Wriothesley’s weight. For the first time, you let your eyes drift lower, let yourself take in the massive, pulsing cock standing erect against his lower stomach. It looked too big; like a prop, made to only vaguely resemble the real thing. It looked like it could tear you in half.
“Then again, he might’ve grown fond of the idea of adding another wolf to his pack,” Neuvillette added, as you went limp against him. “We’ll have to see how human you feel when the sun rises.”
It was an awkward position, Wriothesley too tall and Neuvillette too unyielding. He kept one arm wrapped tightly around your midriff as his other hand drifted into the limited space between your body and Wriothesley’s, his pale hand curling around Wriothesley’s thick shaft and carefully lining it up with your dripping cunt. Wriothesley bucked into the stimulation, his body lurching forward and his head nuzzling into the dip of your shoulder. You felt his breath, warm and humid, fan over your chest, then the rough reverberation of his voice against your skin. “Mate.” It was more of a groan than anything, one long breath that seemed to escape from some unseen vault. It was his voice, but there was something underneath it, too – something more guttural than you would ever want on top of you. “Mine.”
“Ours,” Neuvillette corrected, tightening his hold and drawing you close. You couldn’t see him, but you could feel it, pressing against your throat as his fangs reclaimed lost territory. “Our precious, misguided little pet.”
Wriothesley thrust into you as Neuvillette drove his teeth into your skin, both men piercing you simultaneously. Too stunned to scream, you could only silently wonder who would end you first.

Neuvillette NSFW headcanons !
 `🐟` . ִ ֗  MDNI ! - Mentions of riding, crying, no protection (?) , Breeding kink
Tumblr media
- This man- He’s such a mess whenever he’s with you. If he’s going to have intimate time, it’s gonna be with someone he deeply cares about.
- Holds your hands when doing it, loves missionary since he can see your face and emotions. Gets turned on by how you react to his touch. Loves hugging you and holding you gently when needed all the time.
- He doesn’t fuck, he makes love.
- Sometimes he can get sinful ideas, ideas that he gets embarrassed by since they’re not the brightest. He imagines you riding him in the court- he’s doesn’t know why but he gets turned on by how you can be dominant against him. Being put in his place even though he hasn’t done anything to piss you off makes him go crazy.
- About you being dominant against him, he likes the idea of you two doing it in a public area. He doesn’t understand why you make him think of such things, he never did until he met you.
- Give him that top, he loves it. Your hands being everywhere on his legs and balls.
- He would rather much use protection but…who cares not like you’re gonna get pregnant- and if you do he’s fine with it, he’s already a father to the melusine! (Headcanoning that he’s a girl dad!)
- Isn’t too extreme about Oral, but he’ll do it to get off steam when he’s pissed from his job. Brace for it *salutes*
- Likes missionary, cowgirl, spooning- anything where he can hold your hips if you’ll allow him too.
- A whining mess, he is also very emotional so crying is something he does when he comes. Sorry! He can’t control it!

Neuvillette has cried over you.
The man feels unworthy of you. Of your eyes, ones that look at him with such unadulterated adoration; of your smile, one that never falls when with him, one that rivals the sun and stars in all their shining glory; of your presence, a presence that serves as a balm to his frayed nerves and weary bones after another long, gruelling, dull trial; and of your touch, one that always brushes back his hair with pure tenderness, one that cradles his cheek lovingly as he lets the dam break and tears fall forth.
Whenever the self-deprecation settles in, whenever the sun’s rays are blinded by the clouds gathering, preparing to pour forth its dismal tears, you are always there to kiss his cheek and murmur soft words of reassurance, to make him understand his worth. That always makes his heart tear open a little bit more—not for it bleed out and its beats slow to a halt, but for his sheer love for you to surge forth like the seas’ waves as a storm sweeps its waters up high, to crash down heavily, enveloping you within its clasp.
He has cried over how much you adore him, and he has wept over the fear—that overwhelming, all-consuming and unrelenting fear—of you leaving him. If the Chief Justice’s spirits are always dashed when you leave only temporarily, how will he manage the pain of your permanent departure, one that is inevitable?
Neuvillette curses his immortality. He laments over a human’s short lifespan, one that lasts for barely a century. Eighty years seems like a millenia to a mortal person, but it is a mere blink for a being such as himself.
He is only left with the moments he has now—moments he must cherish and lock away deep within his heart while he can; steel himself for the preordained—for that is all he is left with.
One day, he will hold your hand for the final time—and that will be the final time he ever lets someone hold his hand.

neuvillette x male reader for soulmates au😞😞 enemies to lover trop to omg there both rivals but slowly fall inlove with each other😭
Tumblr media
neuvillette x nb/male reader (soulmate au)
note: ermm ignore how long it took, i forgot to check inbox, also i didn’t go too much into enemies more like haters to lovers lol (this is a long drabble bc i couldn’t think of any main prompts, enjoy it bc it really is long oops)
ooc neuv , suggestive , also they don’t really go in a order so yeah
fem dni
Tumblr media
before finding out your soulmates (d1 haters frfr)
⋆ you and neuvillette seemed to argue over every little thing. if you breathed in his direction he’d mumble something under his breath, causing an argument.
⋆ everyone thought you both were dating, every single time you both even come close to each other theres some awkward sexual tension
⋆ he criticized every little thing you did, if said something a little wrong, he’d make fun of you, always having to run his mouth
⋆ now you personally didn’t really believe in soulmates because of how hard it is to find yours, to find your soulmate you have to actually touch them; not a touch as in accidentally graze but like an intimate type, a hug, etc.
⋆ if you are a attorney, you always would always drag on the case longer than it needs to be just to argue a little longer (you also did it to spend more time with him but, i won’t tell anyone your secret)
⋆ neuvillette and you had some weird type of rivalry, you guys knew each other for a while, every single time you felt as neuvillette liked someone you ended up taking them from him and he did the same to you.
⋆ at the same time, he didn’t honestly know how to feel about you, your personality was so different from his. he tried his best to stay away from you but, clearly it didn’t work.
⋆ his hatred for you was also contributed because of your friends, the people you hang around, the not so liked people in fontaine.
⋆ he felt as you were a competition for him at the same time; you were a little too good at your job (whatever you want it to be), now it may not necessarily be at his level but you were too good for his liking.
⋆ his emotions and feelings are all over the place. he couldn’t decide if he hated you, didn’t care, or was jealous.
⋆ neuvillette always looked at you, even if it was a look of hatred, love, admiration, anything. he always had some type of eye on you, he felt some time of connection with you.
⋆ if you ever got in trouble, he took the blame for it, which was odd as he wouldn’t really care if you were someone else.
⋆ fontaine was raining really bad, that day happened to be the day you got injured.
⋆ you had just got back from sumeru which isn’t the safest place, your injuries weren’t thatttt bad but, they weren’t the prettiest.
⋆ once you got a little healed and we’re allowed to leave, you saw him. he wasn’t doing anything important just looking at the melusine.
⋆ you walked up to him to annoy and tease him, most people were conflicted if you were enemies or lovers.
⋆ you weren’t expecting his reaction though, instead of arguing with you, he hugged you. you were frozen for a moment but eventually hugged him back, which is how you found out you were soulmates.
Tumblr media
once you find out you’re soulmates ;
⋆ he always has some part of him touching you, even if it’s his pinkie, he needs the comfort of you.
⋆ soulmates share a mark with each other, you both have (design of your choice idk), every single time you get intimate with him, he always kisses and loves on it.
⋆ he loves praising you, if you win a court case or do something really good in your job, expect a night full of praise.
⋆ you both didn’t announce your relationship with anyone though, you both give sly comments every chance you get.
⋆ neuvillette loves you though, your the only person who gets him to act the way he does.
⋆ he’s always had a soft spot for you, before you were soulmates and when you were hating on each other every chance you both had.
⋆ once you both got into a huge argument, it was raining hard, you felt bad because he’s your bf/hubby
⋆ when you walked into his office and saw him crying you didn’t know what to do. he never got better with his emotions and expressing them with you.
⋆ “baby, i’m sorry, you were right i was wrong, okay?” you said to him while walking up to his desk. all he did was look at you and wipe his tears, not giving you a response.
⋆ he truly was the prettiest crier you’ve ever met, it was kind of a turn on, but keep your mind out the gutters your bf is cryin!
⋆ you both cuddle a lot, after you argue. he never liked having serious arguments with you though, it brought him some type of sadness.
⋆ just overall, he’s an lovin boyfriend (and hopefully husband), he’s the best soulmate you could’ve ever asked for!
⋆ ps; he still doesn’t like your friends (lyney)

‘Till I Met You
I never knew what love was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
neuvillette x gn.reader
genre: angst (sorry if it’s bad, it’s my first time to write full on angst huhu 🥲)
Tumblr media
Monsieur Neuvillette, The Chief Justice, The face of all the court of Fontaine.
Had no idea how to love.
Yes, he’s seen a copious amount of romantically involved couples in Fontaine every single day, but he rarely had the opportunity to participate in such humane activities.
For Neuvillette, all he knew how to love was the game of the court. His life, His purpose, to serve and bring justice to his fine nation.
But soon, Neuvillette would learn how to love,
With someone the court did not want him to have.
You. A subordinate of The Knave.
It was completely against his moral, to be loving someone on the other side, but his heart had been hammering in his chest ever since he’s laid his eyes on you.
He and you, you and him. Is all he could think about. Thinking about the what if’s, what if, you truly both loved each other? what if, you were both willing to leave your monotonous lives, just to love each other? what if, it would all be worth it?
Private. That is what your and Neuvillette’s relationship was bound upon. The privacy you both treasured, behind closed doors where status meant noting behind them. Where you could be your true selves behind them, not having a care what all the others would say.
Slow-burn. You both wanted to take your time. Don’t rush it, you’ve got all the time in the world, how blind you both were, blinded by the eyes of love.
Neuvillette now understands, why he never made an effort to have a relationship with mortals.
How could you do this? How could you betray him?
He’s given you all the love he could, was it not enough? Was it all going to slow for you? Did you want something more? Was he not enough for you? He would never know.
“Thank you, Neuvillette, for the 2 months, 5 days, 6 hours, and 47 minutes you’ve allowed me to love you.”
It rains. Rains continuously. For 2 months, 5 days, 6 hours, and 47 minutes.
That is how long he allowed himself to mourn, at the loss of you.
His greatest, and only love.
How different would it have been, if he never let you go?
This is what he contemplates, while sitting at the very top of his throne, judging the very person he’s been aching for.

“Neuvillette, come on!” You called out to him, while trailed closely behind.
“I'm coming love.”
You dragged him along grabbing his hand, while you ran through the crowds and crowds of people. The night markets were popular event from your hometown, and many travelers and traders came from all throughout Tevyat. Neuvillette wasn’t the type of person to go out very much, but you had begged and begged. People seemed surprised to see him out of the courtroom, but he paid them no mind
So many stalls, so little time. Halloween decorations lined almost every stall and many vendors were selling halloween related things. One especially caught your eye. A ghost mug, its mouth formed an O shape while its eyes were open wide like it had just seen one of its own kind.
“Neuvillette Look look!”
“What is it, honey.” He locked eyes with the ghost mug, “Oh that's a bit cute.”
“It is!”
You decided to buy the mug, only because of how adorable it looked. Now you could drink your beverages happily. While walking from stall to stall you discovered a shop selling things like bookmarks and stickers. Some had designs with mushrooms and flowers while others had birds and stars.
Neuvillette noticed you eyeing some of the products but you walked away after a few minutes. Maybe you didn’t like them, but you seemed to love them. So he decided to get you one. After you both went home exhausted from all the food and walking around. You were both sat on the couch, you snuggled up close him.
“Hey love?”
“Mmm?” You were almost sleep when he was asking you, “What is it?”
“I bought you this..”
“Oh Neuvi! Thank you I love it!”
The thing he bought you was a sky blue keychain with a lovely Fontaine bird on it. The bird was surrounded by your favourite flower.

⤷ shh!! secret relationships with the fontaine men ₊˚ෆ
Tumblr media
— Lyney will keep the secret well, of course. He’s a jack of all trades, and a little bit of misconception is nothing taxing for someone who can trick the eye with just a simple swipe of his hands.
…Though, his personality often brings much more to deal with behind the scenes. His every action is designed as a ruse, trying to draw any and every reaction from you - whether it be making you irritated as can be or practically burning from his smooth words. He’ll at the red on your face with a light smirk gracing his lips. “Embarrassed, now, are we? Mhm, best wipe it off your face though, lest anyone find out~”
Dealing with the magician was a headache. A delightful one, but painful nonetheless. He has a habit of saying whatever he wants, and it doesn’t help that he’s so good at it too. His tongue can twist poems out of thin air, or pickup lines at the drop of a hat. The number of times Lynette had glanced over at you with a concerned gaze was far more than you could count, and it would be only a matter of time before another carefully crafted sentence sent the entire mirage into collapse. The two of you had only decided to keep your relationship private in the first place due to work affairs. It’d just make things more frustrating if people were aware of the connection. In earlier weeks, you had tried to confront the man about the entire predicament, but he had only laughed it off with a shrug of his shoulders and a jesting beam.
“Oh, don’t tell me that the words I tell you every day still make you so flustered? Archons, you really are a hopeless romantic, aren’t you? Although, for you, I suppose I’m no different…”
When Freminet had eventually voiced his worries, gently holding your hands and saying, “A-Are you okay? Your face is really red, are you sick? Should I walk y-you home?”, there was no other choice but to shake your head, cover your flushed cheeks as best you could with a hand, and tell a blatant lie that there was nothing out of the ordinary.
There most certainly was, and it was the cat-like man who stood off to the side, a sly smirk on his face and one of his eyes closed in a wink. Not helping, Lyney.
When would the day come for you to be the one to make him flustered? Perhaps it was sooner than you thought, on his opening night for the new season. You weren’t sure if he had expected to see you in the crowd, but as he was performing his wonderous tricks, eyes sweeping over the hundreds present, his shimmering lilac eyes locked onto yours. His professional smile stretched a little wider, and as he pulled a dove out of his hat with a flourish of his arms, beamed. The astonished look on your face was something he’d be sure not to forget.
As soon as the lights dim onstage, he hurries off of it, giving Lynette a quick farewell and combing back his unruly hair with his fingers. He spots you standing by the exit, holding… a bouquet of roses in your arms? They were a beautiful sight, yet paled in comparison to how ethereal you looked in the moment, the spotlights afar illuminating your face with a glow and your eyes sparkling with delight. This always happens when the two of you are alone - he’ll switch from verbal affection to physical, and this time is no exception. He sweeps you into his arms, slotting his lips against yours as he pulls you into a deep kiss that leaves you breathless and red. However, this time, the blush dusting your cheeks is not only on your face but his, as he takes the flowers in his arms with a bright smile.
“For me, love? Come now, I can’t possibly keep how good we are together from everyone else, can I?” ₊˚ෆ

— Neuvillette is… an interesting case. For starters, he’s baffled at the concept of keeping the relationship a secret. Elaborate that you don’t want to ruin his reputation as a perfect, just, and stone-cold judge, and he’ll oblige… reluctantly. He still doesn’t understand - just why can’t he show you how much he loves you in public?
For now, he’ll have to chalk it up as more human affairs that he’s deemed too complicated to figure out. Ground rules have been laid out - no mentioning the relationship, no telling anyone either… not even the melusines, which was a fair case, since they’d be sure to spread the news faster than wildfire. The mortal realm is far more puzzling than it seems, he concludes somberly. An unfamiliar world that was arduous to coexist in. It’ll be alright, though, as long as he can intertwine his fingers with yours and look into your eyes and-
“N- Sir Neuvillette… not here!” You chide quietly, slowly withdrawing your hand from his. His face falls into an instant, brows furrowing. He’ll bite his tongue, for your sake, and remain silent, yet his fingers twitch. Archons, his hands feel so much better when they’re in yours. The man watches with dejected eyes as you whip your head around anxiously, before gesturing for Neuvillette to bend down. He complies, and matches himself to your height, yet immediately pauses any motion as soon as he feels your lips brush against his forehead. You brush a stray lock of his behind his reddened ears, a grin curving on your lips.
“Don’t be too disappointed, okay? I don’t want it to rain on my way back home~” You beam slyly as you lean away, witnessing Neuvillette’s expression undergo several stages - downcast, shocked, flustered… and then a small smile graces his expression.
“I’ll see you when I get home. Don’t wait up for me. The case might run late.” Neuvillette chuckles to himself, straightening his posture as he softly pinches your cheek, laughing at the way you begin to pout. It’s something the melusines told him to do, and he’s glad he listened - your face is soft, and he has to hold himself back from kissing you. He can hear people around the corner, their voices growing closer. “Get home safe.”
“Love?” Whenever the dragon enters home, he’ll call you by the name he’s unable to call you anywhere else - something he loathes with a burning sensation in his chest. “Are you…” His voice fades as he sees you curled up on the couch, eyes closed and chest slowly rising and falling with every breath. Had you tried to stay up for him? Cute. He takes you in his arms and brings you to the bedroom, carefully arranging the pillows and blankets around your sleeping form. You stir in your state, lids slowly fluttering open as you stare at the man above you with drowsy eyes.
“Neuvi?” The use of his nickname makes his heart flutter. It’s utterly incomparable to what you call him at work, “Sir Neuvillette.” Too rigid. You giggle at the sight of him, still half-asleep, and cup his face in your hands. “Welcome home… did I fall asleep? Ah, I’m sorry, I guess I was too tired…?”
The smile on his face won’t leave.
Yes, moments like these allowed him to continue this strange human practice.
He places his hands on yours, reveling in your warmth.
“Sleep, love.” ₊˚ෆ

— Wriothesley’s used to being professional. If he wasn’t, his work would be a lifetime more demanding than it was at the moment - although, perhaps even that’d be easier than keeping himself away from you until watchful eyes are no longer present.
He’s touchy whenever he’s with you. He likes leaning into your figure, even if you’re shorter than him, just to take in the way you embrace him back, but he loves the feeling of your fingers with his even more. It makes him feel… giddy, light, like he could drift away with the slightest breeze.
And that’s an issue. In order for you to remain safe, he’ll have to stay hushed about you being his lover. He’s made enemies, that much is natural. Of course, he’ll comply with your wishes to keep the relationship private. You could tell him to eat dirt and he’d do just that. Things like that are second nature now. Before, he had no trouble lasting weeks, or months in the Fortress of Meropide at once. After all, there was no driving incentive to head back to the city of Fontaine other than greeting the melusines, dropping off official papers, or, his guilty pleasure, ordering bags upon bags of tea from the mainland, so that he’d have more than enough to drink at the fortress. Now that you were here, however, how could he possibly stay away longer than a few days? If your hands in his were what made him float away, your smile brought him back, with a racing heart in his chest and a smile spread across his features. He’d give the world to see your smile, since it was his world. A single laugh from you would cause the background to fade to white, and rouse his heart and face into a flustered mess.
The prisoners notice a difference. Of course, they don’t know who this mysterious person the duke is seeing, but all they know is that they’re certainly working wonders. On miraculous, wondrous days, they'll even catch a glimpse of a smile on his face while he’s sitting at his desk, sifting through paperwork. As time passes, the news only grows more widespread, eventually reaching the ears of the ludex himself. It’s true, there is an apparent change - one that he captures on the duke’s more frequent visits to land. For a while, fables and tales of Wriothelsey’s mysterious lover spread throughout the city from ear to ear in hushed, excited whispers.
He’ll tease you about it, of course, but he’s really just rather intrigued. Has he really changed that much after meeting you? He doesn’t think so, but he wouldn’t put it past himself. “Darling, darling…” He repeats your petname when you don’t immediately react. “Darling, c’mon…” He can feel the pout creeping on his lips.
“Impatient, are we, Wrio?” You sigh as you turn away from your work, and his icy eyes light up in an instant. You stroke your hand through his hair gently, carding your fingers through the soft, dark strands, and you can see the way Wriothelsey simply melts under your touch. “You’ve been seeking me quite often these days, haven’t you?”
Maybe he has changed. Staring up at you with half-lidded eyes and a smile playing on his lips, feeling his ears warm, perhaps that conjecture has been solidified as the truth.
“Is it so wrong to wish for you, darling?”
