Who is the Unbortimer anon

Some of this info is now outdated because some new information came out. Specifically @bandom-simmer played a bigger part than we originally thought and a lot more shit happened showing pete isn’t that great a person. I’d advise you not to interact with pete.

There’s been a recent thing on Simblr where people are receiving asks about “Unbortimer” which is the ship name of Unborn Baby Broke and Mortimer Goth. But who is this person? Well me and some discord friends might have found out who it is.

At first I thought it was @bandom-simmer who created this ship in the first place, but it wasn’t Wentz as Pete had gotten Pete’s own asks. Pete sent only some asks to two people, some actually being Ripp related (my recent posts, not all of them though) but not to the entirety of Simblr. The ship has become sort of a meme in the discord server of its origins, which is the Lazy Duchess Server (which I’m banned from now but that’s a different story.) Basically the story is UBB (who was an adult now) was supposed to be paired with Alexander but had high chemistry with Mortimer (who had been staying alive from a custom age span.) And Alexander was gay and better with Daniel Pleasant apparently. It’s a pairing I find extremely weird but it’s not my game and also not as bad as if UBB was actually still a fetus lol. And in the end it’s The Sims.

Someone also thought it was me lol (It isn’t, I only post obsessively about Ripp Grunt as you can see by my Tumblr, and also if you know me on Discord.) Also I apologise if I looked like I was involved in some way 😭 (I was unfortunately blocked by someone.) I haven’t sent any asks.

So who was it? Neither me nor the discord people in the small server we were in had any idea.

The tea started brewing when I got messaged by this account though.

This account belonged to no one on the discord server and I started to highly suspect this was the person behind Unbortimer asks because they made this.

This account sent me a bunch of messages including some selfies and this one (which looks like the kind of thing you get on Simsecret) which had me really confused.

These are all screenshots from servers i’m in or was in so I thought must be from someone in there 😭 But when I asked in announcements, still no one knew lol.

Then this appeared in another server (specifically the Lazy Duchess Server, the one where Unbortimer was founded) before being quickly deleted and the sender being removed. Also claiming that the Unbortimer server is theirs (it’s not, it was created by @bandom-simmer ) From there we could piece clues together.

We looked through the invites for the same code and they matched up here.

Charlytical was questioned and apparently she had sent an invite to a friend. The selfies I was sent also matched her. This friend then confirmed through texts they were the serial Unbortimer asker.

So that’s the Unbortimer person figured out now right? Well maybe not quite, cause apparently there’s multiple people sending asks and they aren’t all down to this person

So I guess that’s the story of the great Unbortimer asks scandal. We know who you are (or at least one of you if there’s multiple) but apparently nothing will stop you from still flooding my inbox with Unbortimer asks.

I'm going through some of my old emo bandom rpf fics from Wattpad that I had written around 2014/15 to 2016/17, mostly Kellic, to potentially post up (and backdate) onto my Ao3 account under a different pseud from my main one, and good god I forgot how bad some of these were.... And when I say bad, I mean bad writing wise, since most of the ideas were okayish, and mostly with the many one-shots I had written.... Doesn't help that they're all in first person.

...I also found a few short one-shots from years ago that I never had the balls to actually post up onto my Wattpad that were for fucking Jono and Ben?? (who I suspect that the majority of people not from New Zealand will have no clue who these two twats are)

ryan ross iceberg (tier 2)

the young veins:

this is the band that ryan and jon started after they split from panic! it included a few other members, and often times ryan’s good friends z berg and alex greenwald (of phantom planet), who will be mentioned more later on. they only released one album in 2010, called take a vacation! they played some live shows, but at the end of that same year, they went on an indefinite hiatus. HOWEVER, they made an official instagram account and have been active this year!! it’s likely that it's because there will be vinyl repress (further supported by a comment jon left on their only post) but it’s super cool nonetheless [i].

this is a personal aside, but i honestly like this band more than anything panic! released post split, with the exception of new perspective and the calendar. like god this was such a good fucking band.

dottie, elwood, and hobo:

these were all ryan’s dogs.

hobo was the dog he got in 2006. however, when he and keltie (we will discuss her soon) broke up, she took her with her [ii].

dottie was a dog he got circa 2015.

elwood is the dog he got in 2017.

i’m not sure if ryan still has dottie and elwood since he has pretty much disappeared from the internet.

z berg:

this is one of ryan’s exes and his bestie. they dated around 2009/2010. they still hang out today and he’s made appearances at these events she does called proms. she gives us the majority of ryan content that we’ve gotten in the past few years.

he featured on one of her songs, “the bad list,” and she featured of the young veins cover of “nothing matters but you.” she will come up more in other entries as well, which is why i'm not going super in depth here.

throam:

whew.

this is a ryden fic – probably the most iconic after the milk fic – called the heart rate of a mouse, written by anna green. it was originally posted on livejournal, and it’s LONG, coming in at 3 volumes and over 500k words.

the plot summary is that in the 1970s, ryan is the lead singer/guitarist of a famous band called the followers, and brendon is a roadie on their tour. brendon is openly gay, and ryan and brendon start hooking up, even though ryan is “straight.” from there, the series becomes 3 volumes of angst and pining. of course, there’s so much more that happens, but i won’t say too much for the sake of spoilers.

despite it being a ryden fic, it’s incredibly well written (if you’re able to get past the explicit smut), so i do recommend reading it at least once in your life. i’m gonna keep it 100, i’ve read this series at least 10 times with a yearly reread and have physical copies of it.

anna also wrote some ficlets to go along with it, such as one from brendon’s pov and just some extra stuff that didn’t end up in the final cut. she also wrote a lot of other iconic fics (all of which i also recommend), like the black rose season, how a resurrection really feels, posing in a ballroom, miguel sanchez’s grand slam of love, amongst many, many others. sadly, she purged her entire livejournal account, so you would have to turn to internet archives to read anything other than throam [iii].

unfortunately, this fic also reached the icon status that the milk fic did so multiple people from the bandom sphere know about it and have acknowledged it. for example, keltie, ryan’s ex-girlfriend, has read it and mentioned it on twitter multiple times (embarrassing for her but whatever) [iv]. jon tweeted about it once [v]. also, i swear that vicky t from cobra starship mentioned it (i wanna say it was on instagram, but i could be wrong); however, i can’t find the comment she made anymore.

jac and keltie:

these are two of ryan’s exes from the panic! days.

jac vanek was a scene queen in the early 2000s, and they dated from november 2005 until feburary 2006 [vi]. it was a pretty cringey teenage relationship that was overly (grossly) chronicled on livejournal, and if you’re interested to read more, there will be a link in a later tier.

an interesting tidbit is that while ryan was dating jac, brendon was dating another scene queen named audrey kitching, which will also come up later in this iceberg.

keltie knight (née colleen) and ryan started their relationship in august 2006 after meeting at the vmas, where panic! was performing and keltie was a backup dancer (she was a rockette). he was 19 and she was 24, which may not seem like a big deal, but it definitely played into some power dynamics in their relationship. for example, in keltie’s book, she says she often had pay ryan's bills for him. also in her book, she stated that he didn't take their relationship seriously, leading him to propose to her and asking her to move in (maybe he wasn't taking it as seriously as you because he was barely in his 20s keltie just a thought). they broke up in 2009 right before the split. we’ll touch on that again later. there is honestly so much more that i could say about this relationship/keltie, but some of it will be covered in this iceberg and the rest will be linked along with the jac info.

sun and moon:

another ryden entry. this refers to a theory about ryan and brendon about which one is considered the moon, and the other is the sun; it’s based on their personalities, like who embodies which more. polar opposites and all that. when ryden was still relevant, who is the moon vs who is the sun was a hotly debated topic (ryan is the moon, while brendon is the sun is the only correct answer).

this also loosely tied into some lyrics from panic and their solo music. for example, when the day met the night is often referenced in relation to this theory, although this song is definitely about keltie [vii]. also, in 2014 ryan wrote lonely moonlight, which also could refer back to this theory and kind of calls back to the lyrics in when the day met the night [viii]. however, this song is most likely about keltie too, if not another past relationship (not brendon).

dead end kids club:

this is a band/touring project that ryan was part of, including z berg, dan keyes, and the band palm springsteen. it was first announced in july, 2019. later that same year, they went on tour, hitting 8 cities for fall balls. this was referred to as the “1st annual” but….[ix]

in 2020, they released a song called lonesome town that featured a lot of videos from fans [x]. also that year, palm springsteen was accused of assault, which dekc posted a couple of statements about on twitter, here and here, stating that they had been removed from the project “a long time ago” [xi]. they pretty much disbanded after that and haven’t been active since october 2020.

livejournal:

iconic. livejournal (aka lj) was basically tumblr before tumblr existed. similarly, it could be used as a personal blog, a place to post rpf fic, an emo poetry hub, a photo album, etc. it’s on this iceberg because ryan was very prolific on livejournal, under the username i_amclandestine, and it’s essentially where panic! got its start. ryan made contact with pete wentz through lj, sending him the early demos, which lead to pete signing them and then cue domino effect to a taylor swift song.

anyway, ryan made many iconic posts on there, some of which will be addressed directly in this iceberg, but i will leave a link to an archive of his lj account for further viewing. he made his last post in june of 2006, but he deleted the account in july of that year after receiving a spam of hate. at the same time, brendon changed his (part_time_lovah) to friends only [xii].

ryan and spencer childhood besties:

ryan and spencer became friends when they were around 5 or so years old, which was always the saddest part of the 2009 split to me. ryan and spencer were in the og band before panic!, which will be discussed later.

in 2016, spencer’s wife tweeted that ryan and spencer were still friends. however, ryan did not attend spencer’s wedding, which could have been for a number of reasons, one of which we will also discuss more heavily later on [xiii]. of course, there is no way for us to know whether ryan wasn’t invited or if he just decided not to go.

mcr makes me dance:

in 2004, ryan went to the chemicalromance livejournal community and posted, “hey im ryan im new i live in las vegas my chemical romance makes me dance” and history was made [xiv]. this became a "meme" amongst panic! fans, and they started bringing signs with that phrase written on them for ryan told in pics. this has continued even in recent times.

this is another iconic piece of ryan ross fashion. he wore it a lot in 2004-2006 cause he’s a little fruity. like seriously, this hat had him in the biggest chokehold.

🦇 Hi everyone, I'm making this post to let the MCRmy know that Alex (@gwaypositivity) and her husband passed away earlier this month. She was also known as Shaila Rosario and Myren McZombie and had various blogs and usernames during her time in bandom. She did leave bandom a while back, but many appreciated her presence while she was here. I'm not aware of any GoFundMe accounts to help her family pay for her final expenses, but if one exists, I'll make a post about it.

hey y'all, more ethnography stuff!

hi everyone, once again I'm working on another facet of my project on tumblr fandoms and their populations over time! this time, I'm looking to do some "life history" accounts. in normal ethnography, this would be where I ask an informant about a specific period of their life such as childhood or adolescence in their culture. since this is not a normal ethnography, I was hoping to examine what people's fandom life histories have been like, ie - what fandoms you have been involved in over the years and how they interacted.

so if you want to participate, you can drop in the tags either some of the most important fandoms to you that you've been a part of them, or as many or few as you'd like. it would be awesome if you could put what period of your life you entered the fandoms too! in other words, this is like telling your (at least digital) life story through your fandom experiences.

here's my example of my fandom life story:

first was H*rry P*tter, but was too young for fandom - elementary school

this led me to Twilight which was the first time i made a fanfiction.net acc - 5th grade-ish

my first MAJOR fandom was Hunger Games, the movies were coming out, and I made a Tumblr and Pinterest for it lmao - 6th grade (-present tbh I never left) but yeah I remember reading on my kindle fire tablet either Hunger Games or thg fanfiction for HOURS everyday after school, I probably read at least 1,000 fics (I read small back then) that school year alone

Then I revisited HP, which inspired me to finished reading PJO (I never finished the first series in elementary school and at this point HOO was coming out, so I caught up and read the last few books) (also fun fact this was the only fandom i ever wrote fanfic for before I was ruin by my own self-criticism) - this was 7th grade-ish

Then I was emo... I was into bandom and dan and phil and other things I can't even remember honestly but fob/patd/mcr were my new big thing for the rest of middle school into hs

At this point, I officially threw myself into SPN - my irl friends were Superwholockers, but mostly on the Dr. Who/Sherlock side of things, so I had to become the representative in the friend group lmao - 9th grade

The next time I got DEEP into fandom was It/Loser's Club from Stephen King. the 2017 movie came out my sophomore year and that entire school year I stg I was eating sleeping breathing Loser's Club with a side of Stranger Things 2 to go with it.

I know I'm missing things but in general there was a through-line moving from media surrounding books, (probably because of the ya boom of the 2000s/2010s), to internet things like bandom and dnp, to tv shows and movies later. Interestingly, I probably never would have heard of the later fandoms I got involved in if I weren't online, so I basically came to Tumblr for fandom and then joined fandoms because Tumblr showed me them.

those are fighting words because i SWEAR i will finish it but Superficial. it deserves more attention because i still find the concept great i just haven’t felt drawn to it since i actually posted it unfortunately

what are your writing strengths?

i think i tend to keep things in character, or i try my best to, anyway. i think endings should pack a punch or hold some weight so i try to make everything i write have an ending i’m proud of even if i don’t like the project much overall. i think my humor is pretty good! a bit over the top in crack fics but i like it that way depending on the vibe i’m going for!

what are your writing weaknesses?

smut always feels SO awkward even though everyone says its fine i just haven’t gotten over the hump yet LOL. sometimes i feel myself losing velocity midway through and i hate that because i love when EVERY part of a story is interesting. also, internal dialogue when writing in third person / multiple points of view.

thoughts on dialogue in another language?

haven’t done it yet. kind of dread ever doing it. i think it’s great though!

favorite fic you've written?

can i talk about vent again. please. pretty please. i reread that one OFTEN because it blows my mind that i wrote it? it’s not fanfic-y and i love that about it (nothing wrong with that OBVIOUSLY i have no problem with ridiculous crack i just like how different it feels for me). semper fidelis remains a strong favorite because i love character studies & projecting 🩵 doors/ACM for lost because those made me feel like i was on fire when writing.

I also write fanfic for Green Day rpf, and Knight Rider (1982). And I have written for a bunch of different fandoms, including Prodigal Son, Big Wolf on Campus, Lost, Good Omens, Care Bears, Pirates of the Caribbean, Malcolm in the Middle, and Supernatural. But Top Gear / the Grand Tour is currently my main fandom when it comes to fanfic.

And please, please, comments are the highest motivator for me to continue working on my fics (granted they're not just telling me to update)! I may not reply to them, but I do read and appreciate every single one! So please, leave some comments if you read any of my fics! Length doesn't matter! Genuinely, if you want me to keep writing and posting my fics, the best thing you can do is to leave comments on them. Because honestly, lack of comments is definitely a massive demotivator to me. Because what's the point in posting, if no one is reading?

edit; as of March 2024, I'm no longer posting on Wattpad, so all my fics will now only be on Ao3. Insane that my mom ran the most popular patrick stump archival blog on tumblr + was a full time lawyer + was raising two mentally ill kids + doing culinary arts school + having a cookie business. I think its her autism i wont lie. But now its all catching up to her and she has no energy which would be the ehlers danlos fault this time.. tried to convince her to steal her old url back but on cohost so she made an account but couldnt immediately make side blogs but boy oh boy. she would be giving the fall out boy fandom what they want and more. Shes like i cant do it again i have no idea how i did it before im like ma! its called having boundaries. Shes like i cant do that when i have a special interest its called autism. Im like right but queue posts for once a day and find 30 pictures from a photo set and boom one months worth of posting fall out boy and you can conserve your energy. But she doesnt know how to do her special interests in moderation. Im honestly just glad she went and accepted a bunch of access to her mega archive folder thingy. But shes so mad she doesnt have access to like her actual archive bc the website she used go archive everything changed their subscription plans and she has so many photos it would be like a zillion dollars she doesnt have 😭 like bogus i remember photo storing websites were so free. Take me back to 2010 for real :T Anyway she used to get so mortified when i told my friends as a teen about her blog i actually told her coworker once and her coworker somehow RETAINED the url and went home and looked at her blog and she was so upset at me 😭😭 but now like she kinda doesnt give a fuck anymore bc fall out boy was her special interest for an entire decade and she’s over it. Obviously still a big big fan but not in bandom anymore. Her new special interest is a band i introduced her to when i was 13 and its kinda cringe so i dont talk about it but she also ran an archival blog for THIS band and i told my friend at a sleepover who liked this band about her blog and they fucking FOLLOWED HER and shit bricks and my mom was MORTIFIED. But anyway yeah she doesnt gaf now if i tell people she was this blog and i even posted a tiktok about it once and people started doing detective work that would make her autistic self so proud…. Bc thats what she was good at! sleuthing stalking detective work on the band. Pete wentz privately answered several of her asks on tumblr i’ll see if she can send me the asks and their responses. But yeah she doesnt care anymore. her original url was scrubbed by tumblr and shes very angry about it bc it was an original bandom url for patrick stump so shes like wtf ever i dont wanna touch this im so mad. Which SAAAAME. ive done that so many times. She started permitting access to people who requested it for one of her photo archive website thingies she left in her last post. But yeaaaahhh… she was patrick stump for halloween in like 2008 and she won the costume contest bc she had rhe coolest sideburns and looked so much like him. My first ever concert was a fall out boy concert in spring 2007 i was 6 turning 7 within the next few months lemme just say the music video for carpel tunnel of love played on the screen as they played the song and my brother and i was so traumatized. But then immediately they played this aint a scene after that and we were like HELL YEAAAAAAAAA. And my brother (5 at the time) and i knew every single song and sang along and my mom went look at everyone else no one else knows these songs. You guys are so cool. And we looked around and yeah no one was singing the songs and were sooo excited! Oh and theres that one time she recorded us singing keep it simple by cobra starship and THEY PUT IT ON THEIR MYSPACE PAGE AT THE TOP WE FLIPPED SHIT. i wish THAT video was still up. Shes also met fall out boy so many times and walked away from patrick stump while he was talking to her bc she didnt want to take up his time at a meet and greet. Omg. so many memories. I was literally raised in online bandom thats so insane. Maybe thats why im a homosexual

I was feeling nostalgic and paid a visit to the fandom tags back from the early 2010s and half of the accounts are deactivated, some haven’t posted in years… I even saw some of my gif sets of bands and TV shows from 12 years ago still floating around…

I miss fandom from back then.

I miss eagerly waiting for gifs from an award show.

I miss talking about my favorite band members or collectively lose our shit over the new AHS season, or seeing my mutuals thirst over the Supernatural dudes.

Bandom was completely bananas too - the shipping, the infighting, the fanfics, the addictions… Overanalyzing album lyrics and interviews.

Can you believe that some of the best graphic design work was done by horny teenagers back in the 2010s?

God. Not to be A Boomer about it but now we have chronically online teens on Twitter that can’t take a fucking joke and no Photoshop skills whatsoever.

oh my god, you and me are the same, anon 🥲 amen to allll that, i’m old enough to remember and long for those glory days. i used to run a blog on here (around 2011 - 2015) and made my fair share of graphics and gifs, and i got so much inspiration from the talented folks who were involved in various fandoms. i’m glad i can provide a bit of nostalgia here, for those times we miss. it’s as if a large number of people are now too sensitive and miserable to enjoy even a scrap of happiness online and it bums me out when i think about that all too brief time that things just weren’t that serious.

hi muffin! I know you aren’t too crazy abt pda esp anon pda but I’m a little shy. I wanted to say I started following you my freshman year of college deep in my transformers phase + I’m finally graduating. I don’t rly keep up w tf anymore (that may change when the new movie comes out lmao) but during the time you were definitely a source of happiness of mine. I always looked forward to checking your blog everyday + seeing the updates. I just wanna say thank u for getting me through that transitional period in my life. your writing would always uplift me when I had a bad day of class or I got a bad grade or I misinterpreted a social cue.

I’m going to be a middle grades ELA teacher and a lot o( my philosophy of teaching revolves around reminding my students that their writing has capacity to change lives + that it should be meaningful even if it seems silly to them… so I’m making it an effort to genuinely thank all of the writing blogs that changed my life and helped get me through my early college years.

thank you for everything you do. it’s hard to put your work out into the world and I genuinely appreciate that you do + want you to know that your writing (yes even if it was nsfw) really made an impact on me + gave me a reason to get up everyday.

hey uhhhhhh this legitimately made me tear up. Like, this is just a silly little blog of writing that I do for fun and so it always blows me away when people tell me that it meant something to them or that it helped them get though tough times even if it was just a way to distract them from bigger problems happening in their lives and I’m just so touched.

Like, I see a lot of really petty infighting stuff in fandoms where people callout others for literally just not getting along with each other and trying to make it out like the other person is toxic for it and that’s a big part of why I don’t actually interact with a lot of people or join any discords or anything. But I don’t need to either because, like, this is the reason I post all my goofy and nasty fandom shit online for other people to see. Because what’s cringe or dumb for one person is gonna make another person smile or laugh. And that’s kind of what fanfiction is about. It’s to put your work out there and hope someone else has as fun reading it as you had writing it.

So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for telling me this and thank you for enjoying this silly little blog. It means so much to me. And I think it’s so awesome that you are going to try and inspire kids to write. I know I was around that age when I started writing and sometimes the push you need is just having someone encouraging you and telling you that you can.
