hey if you're in the LA area and willing to schlep down to the natural history museum this weekend, my friend (you should check out her work here!) is vending at the bug fair and i'm helping out at her booth! it should be a really cool show! plus the natural history museum is always a good time just generally! my friend's booth is booth 22, african mammal hall if you're looking for some cool bug themed functional pottery (she makes a lot of planters and jewelry, as well as more decorative stuff and kitchenwares)

I almost didn’t make it to the Bug Fair because I made a quick last-minute trip to Atlanta for an impromptu sibling reunion, but I got home late Saturday night and managed to attend part of day 2 at the #bugfair !

It’s been a year since I’ve been able to volunteer at the museum but here are some blessed museum moments I hold onto:

Child who ran back to give the coyote pelt a hug

Having my description of the megamouth as a ‘big boy’ translated into French

Woman who was initially nervous around the arthropods calling me over because the beetle was doing something cute

Instagrammers who immediately had to share things

Mutually infodumping back and forth with young autistic kids and feeling like I’m looking at an old photograph

Little kids who were very excited and happy to be in the spider pavilion

People who were less excited but softened up at the sight of spiderlings

Staff being very excited about the new rats

A #SeabirdSaturday / #SeabirderSaturday that’s a little different…perusing the @pawsplett Charity Shop (as one does after just moving house), I decided to look into their books section (as a minimalist, something I RARELY do, especially in this age of most anything being available digitally). And boy, was I rewarded! How on earth I came across copies of popular ornithological books signed by THE Ralph W.
