Okay so I fucked up with the original post as it wouldn’t let me edit it from drafts after putting a video in there, so I had to start from scratch. So this was the ask, thank you @practically-an-x-man !
Tumblr media
Oh wow this is quite a lot to get through! Alrighty let's get going.
Alexander Summers:
Tumblr media
First impression:
l'm just going to talk about movie Alex, because I have other thoughts on comic Alex. I knew Lucas Till from other things like Hannah Montana and the YBWM music video, and also because after the drama with Ezra Miller everyone wanted LT to play the new movie flash, so I remember recognising this face when I first watched FC and thinking "oh yeah he's cute", and I liked his whole broody demeanour, but like, that was it. He became an honorary fave just because I knew he was around the mansion when Peter would've been young, so he was in a lot of the 'Cherik raise Peter' fics.
Impression now:
Jamie will tell you that I always develop a love for the more 'obscure’ characters in media, the smaller amount of screen time, the more likely I am to become obsessed. And so when I went back to rewatch the movies I was just pulled in when it came to Alex. I thought he was so interesting with soooo much potential, his dark but almost juvenile demeanour was like a hook, and I loooove his relationship with Charles. It's also amazing to get to experience a movie you love with a new found appreciation for a certain character because you notice so many new things. Every acting choice LT made for this role l've picked up on now, not to sound dramatic but every little detail helps fuel how I see Alex as a character/person, which is someone with so much complexity and depth.
Favourite moment:
Pretty much all of his scenes in Apocalypse, except his death. Even though I prefer FC, I love seeing how much he's grown and how much he's improved just in general. It's so lovely. But also this one specific deleted scene from FC that gives me all the feels,
Idea for a story:
I have a lot of ideas for Alex in the works, they're mainly on hold just because I went to uni this past September so l've been taking a fanfiction writing/reading break. My current main fic that l'm working on (that Jamie will be happy about), is Alex meeting and bonding with six/seven year old Scott after Vietnam. You'll know because you've read my fic but I picture Alex's relationship to be very strained with his parents, but he's making an effort because he's like, 89% sure Scott's going to be a mutant and he doesn't want him to have to deal with the same reactions he got all by himself.
I also have ideas around an OC of mine but I don't tend to talk about my OCs very much.
Unpopular opinion:
Hmm. The Alex fandom is very small so I don't think there are many 'unpopular' opinions. If we circle back to comic Alex, l'm not really a big fan of any of his romantic relationships. I like the characters respectively, I just don't tend to like them together.
Also I just prefer Alex to Scott, which isn't unpopular but it'll piss Jamie juice off :)
Favourite relationship:
Love love love looooove his platonic mentor-student relationship with Charles.
Tumblr media
Favourite Headcanon:
Love the idea of Alex picking up on Charles’ British slang while living at the mansion between FC and DoFP. He wouldn’t say them in a British accent, but he’d say things like jacket potato, not baked potato (the second chapter of that fic will be dropping soon), and football instead of soccer, and I feel like Charles would really appreciate it because it would be something Raven used to do. Although I see her doing it in more of a teasing way compared to Alex, Alex is just adapting to his surroundings.
Hank McCoy:
Tumblr media
First impression:
I remember quite liking Hank when I first watched FC, I don’t think I had a huge opinion on him but I did enjoy his presence. I liked his bashful relationship with Raven and I think Nicholas Hoult played the character well. He was like in between Alex and then Cherik and Peter for me, I cared about his presence because he was often involved with my top three, but he wasn’t obscure enough for me to develop a proper obsession with.
Impression now:
Kind of the same to be honest, if anything I think I may have gone off him a little bit. Not because of anything huge, but the way he is with Raven in that one scene in FC irks me a little. I do understand his reasoning, as someone with a physical ‘deformity’, I’d do anything to fix it, but I’m also like dude don’t tell this girl she’s not naturally gorgeous-. But overall I do still like him, and I did like his ending in DP too. (Even though I don’t like DP.)
Favourite moment:
Either when he and Logan are fighting in the foyer in DoFP or just his involvement with the montage in FC. Him being like “am I still a bozo?” to Alex, like bro what do you think the obnoxious little blond is gonna say-.
Idea for a story:
I like the idea of potentially writing a small oneshot about Alex and Hank having a conversation, maybe just before Alex leaves for Vietnam. I feel like it’s the only time they’d ever have a vulnerably emotional moment together. Alex wouldn’t admit to Charles he’s worried about going, and Hank would’ve picked up on enough of Alex’s social behaviours to realise it.
Unpopular opinion:
Not sure if this is unpopular but I don’t really ship him endgame with Raven. I ship them as a midgame, but if she had lived in the new timeline I don’t think they would’ve lasted, I think they’re a classic case of right person, wrong time. They were at totally different stages of life.
Favourite relationship:
Love his annoying brotherly relationship with Alex, and his mentor relationship with Charles.
Favourite headcanon:
Sean was the one who got Hank to smoke his first joint, and Hank was so concerned about what it would do to his brain/mutation that he caved and told Charles, as if they aren’t all adults who can make their own informed decisions. I don’t like reducing characters to a caricature, but the idea of Hank shyly telling Charles he’s stoned and has some minor concerns is so funny to me.
Patricia Thornton:
Tumblr media
First impression:
In typical Summer fashion, Thornton wasn’t a favourite when I started MacGyver, that was solely Mac and Jack. I just thought she was pretty and badass, and I really enjoyed her banter with Jack. That was kind of all I thought on her.
Impression now:
I. Love. Her. Literally she is such an icon. I came to appreciate her pretty quickly because I binged a lot of MacGyver while I was recovering from my hip surgery, and then when I found out about the traitor storyline I was devastated. I love her snark, her facial expressions, how much of an amazing spy she actually was? I still love her relationship with Jack but I’ve also come to appreciate how she was with Mac and Riley. She wasn’t a helicopter boss/parent, but it’s so clear that beneath the sternness and consistent annoyance, she loved those brats so much.
Favourite moment:
During the Christmas episode, at the end, she’s talking to Mac by the Christmas tree and it’s a clear moment of how she wasn’t just the boss of this team, she was also a friend. She kisses Jack’s cheek, she lets Bozer touch her, she and Mac talk about Christmas gifts, I love it. (I also love her in the fourth episode of season one where she’s beating the shit out of people.
Idea for a story:
I want to write more of her and Mac, I like the idea of her going to see him in the hospital after the incident in S1E1, but he’s at a generic hospital in Italy, and when she and Jack arrive the doctors are like “are you guys family to the patient? 🤔” and they’re like “uh…”. And Jack is like “oh yeah, we’re his aunt and uncle, this is my wife” on a whim and Thornton looks at him like she’s going to take off her shoe and shove the heel up his nose.
Unpopular opinion:
She’s better than Matty. That’s ragingly unpopular but to me she just is, I prefer her dynamic with everyone compared Matty’s character to dynamic with them. And there’s no problem with Matty, I just haven’t warmed to her, like at all. I don’t find banter in her sternness, whereas with Thornton it was more of an exasperation.
Favourite relationship:
I love all of her relationships with the main team, Mac’s is probably my favourite, but I do love how she is with Riley, and Bozer. They’re like her exhausting children and she’s just DONE. And of course her love-hate relationship with Jack is top notch.
Favourite headcanon:
I’ve never talked about this before but I have this deep rooted lore idea that Thornton had a lung transplant as a child. There’s even more lore behind why but I won’t bore you with that, but anyways I have this hc that while on a mission with Jack when they’re first working together, he finds her immunosuppressants in her backpack, and because she hasn’t declared them to anyone on the team, except Oversight ofc, as nobody knows about her lungs, Jack’s first thought is “…she’s dealing drugs.” And confronts her about it, and she’s just like “😒”.
After that, only Jack knows about it, and I like to think that while she’s in prison, he goes to see her and even though he’s mad because he thinks she’s a traitor, he’s still like “they’re giving you your pills for your lungs right?”
Warren Worthington III:
Tumblr media
First impression:
I don’t really remember my first impression of Warren. I remember in TLS, when we see him trying to cut out his wings, my first thought was “WOAH IM UNCOMFY”, but overall I think for me he was just sort of…there?
Impression now:
I like him a lot more in TLS than I do in Apocalypse, in Apocalypse I find him a bit obnoxious, but I like the complexities of his situation in TLS, as much as I don’t like the movie itself. I think it’s really interesting to see his development throughout that movie considering he has such little screen time.
Favourite moment:
I do actually quite like the scene where he flies away from his father before he’s forced to have the mutation cure. Very powerful and I think the actor did a nice job.
Idea for a story:
I don’t have one off the top of my head but I like the idea of something to do with he and Alex talking, for my universe they both have somewhat ‘unsupportive’ parents, so that could be an interesting exploration.
Unpopular opinion:
I can’t say I have one because I don’t know the character well enough. Maybe that he kind of annoyed me in Apocalypse? Like I get why he was the way he was, I just didn’t feel emotionally connected to him. I wish they could’ve fleshed it out a little bit more.
Favourite relationship:
I have no idea.
Favourite headcanon:
Again, not really any idea cause I don’t know enough about him, but I’d love to hear a few of yours sometime.

Full Circle
Fandom:  The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Pairing:  Nicholas Scratch x Reader
Warnings:  None
Notes:  This is based on a song that’s become popular very recently, so you could try to determine what it is as you read, if you want. I’ll link the song at the end in case you didn’t figure it out, or to listen to the song if you’ve never heard it. ☺
Tumblr media
Being a hopeless romantic was practically a curse for a witch. Your kind wasn’t made for love. Lust, desire, sex – all of those things came easily for witches and warlocks. But love was a different matter entirely. You knew it was foolish to allow that particular emotion to creep into your heart, but all the mortal romance novels you’d read left you willing to be foolish.
A few months after engaging in a strictly sexual relationship with Nicholas Scratch, you confessed to him that you no longer wished to continue the affair unless he was willing to incorporate romance into the mix. He was hesitant at first, but didn’t want to lose the way your attention and affection made him feel important, valued, and cared for, so he complied. He took you on dates, bought you flowers every Tuesday, let you wear his jacket, cuddled together as you watched movies and read magical novels. He even wrote a poem for you, which he turned into a song with some assistance from the acoustic guitar he borrowed from the choir instructor. The dashing warlock swept you off your feet, and you had never been happier.
Then Sabrina Spellman came into the picture.
You truly had nothing against the plucky, young, promising witch. It was Nick who posed a problem. Ever since she arrived at the Academy, you felt him slipping away from you. He stopped buying you flowers. The dates became few and far between. He slowly took each of his jackets back. But all the while, he used that enthralling, silken voice of his to supply you with thinly-veiled lies of reassurance.
“There’s nothing between Sabrina and I, babe. And besides, she has a mortal boyfriend. Don’t worry your pretty little head about it, alright?”
It wasn’t long before his story changed.
“Being with you has been amazing, and you’ve opened my mind to the possibility of love for our kind. I love you so much, and I always will, but…. I won’t lie to you, there’s someone else. And I can’t, in good conscience, stay with you while having feelings for another person. That’s not fair to you. I’m sorry…. I’m so sorry.”
The contradiction of Nick’s lie of reassurance and his words as he crushed your heart never left your mind… nor did your love for him. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t shake how much your heart yearned for his touch, his kiss, his scent, his voice. It felt like a knife in the chest when you saw him and Sabrina together, shortly after the break up, and you weren’t the least bit surprised that she turned out to be the “someone else.” Nick constantly looked at her with more love and adoration than he’d ever shown you, and it never ceased to hurt.
Nevertheless, you did the only thing you could: you carried on. Ignored the pain. Shoved your unyielding love for him to the back of your mind. You continued your studies, and your dedication to the coven. You aided your cohorts, even Sabrina, in all of the coven’s efforts. Unfortunately, that included helping Nick become a flesh Acheron for Satan, then saving him, and watching from the sidelines as he struggled to cope with the lingering effects of being trapped in his own body with the Devil. Eventually, there came a time when the coven experienced a small dose of reprieve. Hecate became your new deity, the coven’s powers were restored, the Pagans had been driven out of Greendale, and all seemed to be right with the world. Drinking away your troubles, alone in your room with a hundred-year-old bottle of Scotch, had sounded like a fine way to spend a Monday evening – until Nick walked up to you, as you sat outside on the stairs of the Academy, enjoying the cool night air.
“Hey.”
One word. One, simple word was all he mustered up to say to you, despite the fact that it was your first private exchange since the break up. So, you merely echoed it.
“Hey.”
Nick just stood there, before joining you on the stairs, a few feet away from you. The two of you sat there in silence for several minutes before you became the first to speak again.
“Don’t you have some pretty blonde to be hanging out with right now? You know, the one who always made me doubt, yet you constantly assured me I had nothing to worry about?” you retorted, the liquor in your system acting as a conduit for your raw truth. You let out a dry, bitter laugh. “In all honesty, I suppose I can’t blame you for choosing her over me. She’s so much more powerful and skilled than I am. Now that I think about it, she’s the personification of everything I’m insecure about.”
Nick looked at you with sorrowful eyes, before looking away again, as if he couldn’t bear to look at you and see how much pain you were in, even after all this time.
“Sabrina and I broke up.”
The hot mess mixture of feelings that flooded you was practically dizzying. Admittedly, his statement initially filled you with hope. Perhaps this meant he’d give being with you another shot? This was immediately followed by anger – first toward yourself, for being so stupidly optimistic and naïve, then toward him. Did he come here to tell you that, assuming you’d forgive him and everything would go back to the way things were, as if you would be excited to be the consolation prize?
Too dazed by the dichotomy of your thoughts, you said nothing in response. He took your silence as an invitation to continue.
“Turns out, we were a lot less compatible than I originally thought. I thought she was the one. I was willing to die for her…” Nick mused, then trailed off before exhaling and continuing. “I didn’t die, but I did do something much worse – all for her. It didn’t matter in the end, though. We just weren’t meant for each other.”
“You have a lot of nerve to come to me thinking I give a single, solitary fuck about your feelings for her,” you snapped, and your eyes met for a moment then, but he averted his gaze. There was a poignant and tense silence before he spoke again.
“Can I ask you something?” Nick inquired, appearing extremely pensive. “Did you ever stop loving me?”
“No. Not for a second, despite my best efforts,” you replied honestly, and he smiled sadly at your quip as he looked down. “I know we weren’t perfect, but I’ve never felt this way about anyone. That’s why I can’t imagine how you were so okay when I was gone, after we’d broken up…. I guess you didn’t mean what you wrote in that song about me. Because you said ‘forever,’ now I spend every day alone and missing you.”
“I meant every word of that song,” Nick replied earnestly.
“Please don’t, Nick. Let’s just end this conversation here. I don’t even know why we’re discussing this,” you whispered, shaking your head and closing your eyes, as if that would somehow prevent his words from sinking in. You stood and took a couple steps toward the door of the Academy.
“Will you please just hear me out?”
“Why should I?” you yelled, turning to him with a blend of hurt and rage written all over your face, although the rage was what overcame your voice.
“Because I still fucking love you!” Nick shouted, his voice ripe with conviction. He exhaled loudly, then ran his hands over his face and leaned back on the staircase. “In that song, I wrote that I’d love you forever. And you may find it hard to believe, but I’ve never stopped loving you. I won’t deny that I loved Sabrina too, but I’ve realized with hindsight that it was a combination of infatuation and love – more so infatuation. But with you, it was only ever love. A deep, genuine, natural, true love.”
You found yourself somewhere between confused and shocked. What he said made no sense to you, because you’d spent this long believing that he hadn’t given you a second thought since getting with Sabrina. Yet here he was, pouring his heart out to you, and telling you that he still loves you.
Nick stood and took a couple steps toward you, now arm’s length away.
“I know I don’t deserve it, so I won’t fault you in the least if you say no, but…. Would you be willing to give me another chance?”
You looked at him then – really looked at him. You studied him thoroughly, and stared deep into those big, brown eyes of his, which held so much vulnerability, contrition, pain… and love.
“Don’t fuck it up this time, Scratch. I’ll take your life if you do. That’s a promise.”
The very next morning, a beautiful bouquet of blood red roses awaited you in the hallway outside your bedroom door.

He’s Trouble - Nicholas Scratch
Tumblr media
word count: 2239 warnings: swearing, mentions of sex, boys being shitty  summary: Nick might not be much of a fighter, but he wasn’t about to let some slob talk shit about his best girl
Nicholas Scratch was on his way to meet (y/n) in the courtyard, like they always did during their matching lunch periods.  They often would sit and chat about their days, sometimes a little gossip would come up, most of the time it was about witchcraft, and every once in a while it was about each of their sexual enevors.
Nicholas’ history, especially with the Weird Sisters, was no secret.  On the contrary, it was public knowledge.  Witches and warlocks who had never met him knew of his affiliation with the bedsheets of a decent handful of witches, and sometimes warlocks, it was that rumored about.
But it was never spoken of negatively.  He wasn’t pestered for it, no one ever called him names in any way other manner than teasing or congratulating.  And he was certainly never chastised for it.
(y/n), on the other hand, had her fair share of witches an warlocks under her belt, so to speak.  Not nearly as much as Nick, but a number she could count on both hands and proudly tell him off.  Rarely did she act on her desires, so often times when she did bed a witch or warlock, it was because they took action on theirs.
None of these things really came to mind for Nick, until he heard a familiar voice mention her name in a poor way.  And it all dawned on him at once.
“Why don’t you tell us every little thing you did to (y/n)?” Luke’s voice was just as polluted as his personality, and it made Nick prickle as he turned to see who he was talking to.  Sure enough, it was the most recent of (y/n’s) affairs, Julian.
“Man, I wish I could put to words the work I did on her, definitely my best one if I do say so myself,” Julian replied.  The group of boys hadn’t seen Nicholas standing their yet, and stupidly continued to speak of the incident from a few nights ago.  “She’s hot you know, once you get her in the mood.  Otherwise…” The warlocks began to laugh when Julian continued to suggest (y/n) was physically at her best when she was in the mood.
“So,” Another warlock, who Nick didn’t know th name of, spoke up.  “Is she dirty?” He asked, and if Nick’s blood wasn’t boiling before, it definitely was now.  He bit his cheek to keep from saying something he shouldn’t.  “I’ve been looking for a witch that’s down with being dirty”
“Oh, she is,” Julian smirked, and spoke in a sultry voice.  “You should’ve heard the way she begged-”
“Begged for what, Julian?” Nicholas made his presence known, and crossed his arms over his chest as he stared down the warlock in question.  “Because I know it wasn’t your dick, seeing it’s half the size of a teenage mortal’s”
Julian glared at him in response, walking up to him and staring him down angrily.
“Jealous much, Scratch? Or just come to protect your whore?”
It took everything Nick had not to punch him in the teeth right then and there, just for daring to call her that.  Luckily, he had more control than that, and smacked his lips before speaking.
“You really want to say shit like that when I’m the only one in this whole school that can hex your hair- and I mean all of your hair- to fall out permanently?”
“Are you really going to threaten me? Over a harmless boys talk?” Julian replied.
“Didn’t sound so harmless, the way you talked about (y/n) being just another one of your conquests,” Nick replied.  “I’d really watch the way you speak about her, if you want to keep your hair that is”
He began to walk away, satisfied with how he handled himself and threatened Julian.  He was ten minutes late for meeting (y/n) now, but it was worth it at least.
“Well when you finally get your turn with her, you’ll finally get to see how much of a dirty witch slut she is in the sheets! And other places” The group of warlocks begin to snicker, and Nick stopped in his tracks.
Screw control.
He spun around, dropping his bag to the ground as he grabbed Julian by the collar of his shirt, and punched him straight in the nose.  And before he could retaliate, he punched him again across the jaw.
The other boys seemed to gather in a circle around the two, no one else intervened, just watched the boys beat the daylights out of each other.  At one point, one of them lost balance, and when they tumbled to the ground, they continued their fighting.  Nick had never felt a rage like he did right now, and he wouldn’t be satisfied with himself until Julian looked like a bloody pulp.
The crowd around them only grew the longer they fought, resorting just to their fists rather than the usual hex fights that happened in the school.  This was a fight for physical dominance, not one to display witchcraft brilliance.
Julian began to laugh maniacally as Nick pushed him against the crowd, standing over top of him, with both hands on his collar to pin him down.  There was blood all over Julian’s face, and staining his teeth as he grinned through his laugh.
“You must really want to bone her if you’re gonna get your ass kicked for it”
Nick scowled, and leaned in closer to mutter, “If you so even think about her like that again, I’ll come back and kill you, do you understand me?” He muttered.  “And no one will ever know, or care, and no one will ever find you.  Not even your familiar, not even the Dark Lord himself will know of what I did to you”
With that, he slammed the warlock’s head back into the ground, a loud crack echoing throughout the corridor before Nick stood up, rubbed his throbbing jaw, grabbed his book bag, and walked off to the courtyard like he should have done fifteen minutes ago.
-
(y/n) was sat at the bottom of the stairs, where she usually waited for Nick, so they could go find a proper table to sit at for lunch and conversation.  There was only forty five minutes left of lunch, and she was starting to think Nick was standing her up, when his voice called from behind her.
“Sorry I’m late,” He said, making his way down the stairs.  She turned to smile and wave him off, only to see his face was a mess and he was limping a bit as he slowly walked to her.  “Ran into-”
“Nick!” (y/n) said in alarm as she got up and quickly came up to him, sitting them down in the middle of the empty staircase outside so he didn’t have to hurt himself more by coming down to her.  “Oh my Satan, what happened?” Her hands softly mapped out the bruises and blood on his face as he eyes scanned over the rest of his body for any more injuries.  “Is that blood? Where is this all coming from?” She asked, before her thumb brushed over the cut on his lip.
“No?” He answered with a small chuckle, and she glared at him momentarily before going back to checking him over.
“That’s not a question you’re supposed to answer with another question,” (y/n) scolded.  “What the Heaven happened, Nick?” She asked in a softer tone.
“It’s not that big of a deal, really, don’t worry about it” He said, but she didn’t care to hear it.
“Et hoc rubeum sanguinis flumen fluit agmine suus,” She murmured so the bleeding would at least stop, and fumbled in her coat pocket for her black handkerchief, usually kept for gathering herbs, to wipe away the excess blood on his skin.  “It is a big deal” She told him, keeping a hand under his chin so he’d stay still as she carefully dabbed at the cut on his bottom lip and around his mouth.  “Who was it?”
“No one” Nick answered, desperate to not have to explain himself, but she glared at him again.
“Am I going to have to truth hex it out of you?” She threatened quietly.
“That depends,” Nick mumbled as she made her way to blood dripping from his nose.  “Do you know the truth hex?”
When she was quiet, he smirked a little bit, and she sighed, setting down the handkerchief, but keeping her hands on his face.
“Why don’t you just tell me who you got in a fight with, why it happened, and then we’ll go eat lunch?” She suggested.  “It’s not that hard, just tell me who it was”
“I already said it really doesn’t matter, (y/n/n)” He hoped using her nickname, the one reserved only for him to use, would make her change her mind, but she frowned.
“Don’t try to be cute and just tell me the truth Nick, who did this, so I can hex their room to be full of spiders?”
“Julian” He mumbled, eyes downcast.  (y/n’s) brows crinkled, knowing that he was the warlock she’d recently hooked up with, but not knowing why Nick would pick a fight with him, or vice versa.  She lifted his face up so he’d look at her, and he licked his swollen lips before taking ina  shaky breath.  “He… he uh…”
“Nick, I’m not upset,” (y/n) told him, thumb stroking over a slight bruise under his eye.  “I just want to know what happened”
“I started the fight,” Nick admitted with a heavy exhale.  “But he was saying such nasty things that I-I couldn’t help myself, he had no right to say the things he did”
“Okay,” The witch nodded, although she was still confused by his story.  “But it obviously got very out of hand” She added, glancing over his features.  There was a slowly darkening bruise under his left eye, another on his right cheek, his nose wasn’t bleeding anymore thanks to her spell, and his lip was split open.  Not to mention a few small scattered bruises along his jaw.
“It… did…” Nick said slowly.  “And I confess that I was in the wrong for hitting first but I just… I couldn’t help it (y/n), it’s like I had no control.  He was saying terrible and dirty things about you and he was lying and I just lost it-”
“It was about me?” (y/n’s) voice cracked from how quietly she spoke, and Nick’s eyes widened a bit as he realized what he’d let slip out.  Her eyes glanced in between his, and his features fell slightly.
“Yes” He said quietly.  (y/n) frowned for a moment, the thumb that was caressing his cheek stalling for a moment as she thought about it.
Nick could be a bit of a deviant, and sometimes he was condescendingly rude, but he wasn’t a fighter, not a physical one at least.  He was smart enough to know that it got you nowhere except a suspension.  So why he would fight Julian after doing what all nasty boys did, she wasn’t sure.
“But (y/n) you should’ve heard him, it was awful, and revolting, and I couldn’t let him talk about you like that,” She blinked owlishly as she watched him explain himself, lips slightly parted in shock at the story.  “And I can tell you that he deserved it, and I would proudly do it again if he ever-”
“You fought him... for me?” She murmured, and Nick slowly nodded his head.
“Well, yeah” He answered, thinking it was obvious, and justified.
She leaned forward and caught his lips with hers gently, silencing him with a soft kiss, and careful not to apply too much pressure and hurt his busted lip.  Nick’s hand came up to cup the back of her head, fingers tangling in her hair as they kissed slowly, and perfectly.
When they pulled away, he ran his tongue over his bottom lip to relieve the pain that came from his smile.  She was still cradling his face in her hands as she smiled back at him sweetly.
“You didn’t have to do that” He told her, but she shook (y/n) head delicately.
“I wanted to,” She murmured.  “And next time you feel like fighting someone, just come talk to me about it, okay? We can hex them together or something instead” He chuckled at her suggestion and nodded.
“I’ll settle for that,” He agreed, his hand sliding out of her hair to cup her cheek.  “Can I uh… kiss you again?”
(y/n) nodded, a smile on her lips as he leaned in and kissed them, cautiously and sweetly, holding her close and praying he’d never have to listen to another warlock talk lowly of her again, because he might just have to resort to murder.
“Let’s skip the rest of the day,” She suggested, and he grinned as he agreed with her.  “We can go explore the mortal town for a while, get some medicine for your pain and some coffee for the stress you put me through”
Nick chuckled and nodded, and she helped him stand up on the steps.
“That sounds like a date to me, (y/l/n)”

The Mortal (Nicholas Scratch x Reader) part 1
Tumblr media
word count: ~4500
request: Nope, just wrote it for fun. Requests are still closed.
summary: The Weird Sisters are interested in playing games with some mortals, and they coerce Nick into joining them. But the girl they have chosen for him is more charming than he expected.
warning: I think one swear word, but that’s it for this part.
A.N. The lack of Nicholas Scratch content makes me sad, so I decided to create some of my own. This is going to be a bit of a series, I have parts 2 and 3 done already, I’ll get those up soon. I hope you guys like it.
part 1, part 2, part 3
Alright, enjoy :)
The bell above the door of the bookstore jingled, and in walked four strangers dressed in all black. It was early in the morning, and the shop was almost empty except for a small number of patrons near the back. Most of them looked up to acknowledge the newcomers, except for one tucked away in the back corner of the shop.
“Why are we here Nick?” Dorcas whined, leaning against Agatha. “It’s too early.”
“No one forced you to come Dorcas.” Nick rolled his eyes. “There’s a book here that I need for a spell I’m working on. I just have to find it, and then we can head home, and you can go back to sleep.”
She pouted and pursed her lips. “I didn’t say I wanted to go to sleep. I just meant, if we’re going to be spending our weekend interacting with the morals, we should be having fun, not coming to some silly bookstore.”
“Like I said, you didn’t need to come.”
Nick tuned out the whining of the Weird Sisters and turned his attention towards the shelves, searching for the book he needed. The bookshelves were not well organized, but finally he found the spot where the book should have been. Empty.
He bit back a groan. He needed the book to finish a divining spell for an assignment due on Monday, and if he couldn’t get his hands on it, it was going to make the rest of the day far less enjoyable.
Prudence was watching him with that look he didn’t like, the one that said she was reading the room around her and scheming about how to cause some chaos within it. She saw him looking and raised an eyebrow with a smirk. “Something wrong Nicky?”
He shook his head.
“Having trouble finding the book you’re looking for?” She asked sweetly.
“Yeah, it’s not here.”
“Would you like us to help you look for it?”
He sighed and raised an eyebrow. “What do you want in exchange?”
“Well, my sisters and I were talking, and we decided since we’re here, and since it’s been so long since we’ve had any fun, we’re going to find some mortals to play with tonight. You should join us.”
“Prudence, you know I don’t do stuff like that.”
“True,” she pursed her lips innocently, tapping one dark fingernail against her chin, “but can you really afford to fail this divining assignment?”
He couldn’t. He was the top student in his grade at the academy, and he needed to maintain that grade if he wanted to keep on track and one day become a high priest, or at least a high warlock. To do that he needed the book.
“Fine. If you get it for me I’ll join you guys tonight.”
She smiled sinisterly, ran her tongue over her bottom lip, and pointed across the room. “The book is over there.”
Nick followed her finger to the back corner of the room, where a teenage girl was curled up in an armchair. She was in a knitted sweater and a long floral skirt, which she had tucked her feet up into. On the armrest was an open notebook, which she was writing in, and in her lap was an open book. The book he needed.
He sighed. “How long have you known it was there?”
Prudence shrugged innocently. “I’m sure the mortal girl won’t mind letting you borrow it. And you can invite her to join us tonight too. It will be fun.”
-----/--/-----
(Y/n) was sitting in her favourite seat in the back of the bookstore, an old book on the theory of the night sky open in front of her. She needed it to help clarify a plot point in a creative writing project she was outlining. The problem was that since the book was so old, it was extremely difficult to decipher, making it a struggle to get the information she needed.
She was so intent on trying to decipher one particular footnote that she didn’t notice someone in front of her until that person cleared their throat. She jumped, so startled that her pencil fell out of her hand, and looked up to see a dark haired boy standing in front of her, eyebrows raised at her severe reaction.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” He picked up the pencil and handed it back to her.
“Don’t be. Thanks.” She took the pencil back. “Were you trying to get my attention for some reason?”
“Actually yes. I was wondering if I could borrow that book once you’re done with it.” He pointed to the book she had been working so hard at interpreting.
She nodded, even though she had been hoping to have access to it all day. The boy gave her a charming smile and then took a seat not far away, grabbing a book from one of the shelves and settling in to read.
(Y/n)’s relaxing Saturday of research and outlining had been ruined. She was all anxious now about not keeping the book too long since that other guy wanted it, and since she was stressed it made it harder to focus on the text and what she was trying to get from it. Within thirty minutes she was getting a headache and she was annoyed. When the boy closed his book and got up she was prepared to tell him that she had changed her mind and he couldn’t borrow the book anymore, but he walked past her and went up to the coffee bar.
He came back holding two mugs, and he put one of them down on the small table in front of her.
“Pumpkin spice tea,” he said in response to her raised eyebrows. He pointed to the other mug on the desk, which was empty. “I asked the barista what you were drinking. I figured since I’m stealing that book from you it was the least I could do to treat you to a drink.”
(Y/n)’s irritation faded, and she was left feeling stunned. She stammered a thank you, and moved to close the book and give it to him even though she wasn’t close to being done with it.
He shook his head. “No, no. Don’t rush. Take your time.”
“To be honest, I’m struggling to get through this.” She admitted. “It’ll probably be a long time before I finish with it. So if you need it you should probably just take it now.”
He crossed his arms and looked thoughtful for a second, and then he shrugged. “Why don’t I help? I’m pretty good with old books, and I’m not doing anything else. Might save us both some time.”
“Really?” Her eyebrows rose. “You want to help me do research?”
He nodded. “Is there any room for me on that couch?”
They spent the next two hours sitting side by side with the book balanced between them. It’s a little cramped on the couch, but Nick was friendly and charming and somehow it wasn’t too awkward. They ended up spending half the time just chatting idly, and she explained to him a little bit about what she was writing. She had found an old book about this crazy satanic cult in Greendale when the town was founded, and after reading it she came up with the idea for a novel that explored a society of dark witches.
When she mentioned that her research was for a spell in the book that she was trying to understand, Nick looked really impressed, but when she asked why he brushed it off.
He was right when he said he was good with old books, and he was able to decipher the book a lot more easily than she could have. He was able to figure out everything that had stumped her for the last couple of hours, and soon she was able to give him the book that he had been waiting so patiently for.
“Thank you for your help,” she said as she handed him the book. “And I’m sorry for it taking so long.”
“Not to worry.” He gave her a charming smile. “I’m sorry I have to steal the book from you. Maybe I could make it up to you?”
She raised her eyebrows.
“Some friends of mine are having a party tonight. You could come with me.”
Nick was charming. Extremely charming. And (y/n) couldn’t deny that he was attractive. But this was not the first time kids from the preppy boarding school came into Greendale, and (y/n) knew that anyone who was stupid enough to hang out with them ended up regretting it. The stories she had heard about kids who had gone out to party with them, only to wake up days later with bruises and no memory of what had happened, were more than enough of a warning.
She only felt a little bad when she turned him down. “I’m sorry, but I have plans for tonight.”
“Oh yeah? What are you up to?”
She explained that she and some friends were driving down to Sweetwater river for a party of their own, to have one last bonfire before they had to start studying for exams.
He didn’t seem to take the rejection too hard, giving her an understanding smile. “Any way you could swing by afterwards?” he asked.
She shook her head.
“Well, that’s a shame. I was looking forward to spending some more time with you. You seem cool.”
“Thanks.” She tried not to blush.
He gathered their mugs and brought them back up to the counter, and gave her a final friendly smile and a wave as he moved towards the door.
Hr stomach clenched, and she was already starting to regret the rejection. She sighed. “Wait.”
He turned to look at her, eyebrows raising. “Yeah?”
“I know you’ve got your party tonight, but if you wanted you could stop by the river for a bit. If you wanted.”
She could feel a flush rising in her face as she spoke, and she had to resist the urge to fidget nervously with the hem of her sweater.
Nick flashed her a grin and a wink. “Maybe I will.”
-----/--/-----
It was ten at night, and (y/n) and her friends had all gotten to Sweetwater river. Two of the boys had brought a bunch of wood, and (y/n) was getting the fire started, since none of the others knew how to do it. They were already drinking, and everyone was relaxing in the sand of the lakeshore, chatting before the night got too crazy.
“Hey,” her friend Dylan came and squatted next to her. “Want a beer?”
“Nope, I want a Sommersby, like I always drink when we go out. You know this dude.”
“True. How’s the fire going?”
“Good.” (Y/n) had the structure all set up, and she was now lighting the pieces of newspaper that she had tucked into the center, waiting for it to catch. “Hold my hand and pray with me.”
Dylan snorted, but he reached out and took her hand, and they both bowed their hands dramatically, waiting to see if the fire would catch. There was a faint whoosh, and then the logs caught, and darker smoke started rising.
“Yes!” They both shouted triumphantly, and the rest of the group cheered as the fire started to crackle and burn. It immediately got warmer.
(Y/n) and Dylan settled down in the sand, his arm draped around her shoulders. “So, when is the handsome boarding school boy gonna show up?”
“Nick?” (Y/n) felt her face flush, and she swatted at Dylan’s arm. “I shouldn’t have told you about that. He’s probably not going to come. We just hung out for a couple of hours at Cerberus’s, it was nothing.”
“But he invited you to a party, didn’t he? He probably thinks you’re hot.”
She rolled her eyes. “One of those crazy parties the preppies throw. Remember what happened to Dayton and Carl after they partied with some of the prep kids? Carl still has a tremor that he didn’t have before.”
Dylan rolled his eyes. “Okay yeah, they’re probably all freaks over there at that school, but still. You don’t need to date the guy, you can just hook up and have some fun before classes go to hell.”
“True, but--”
He elbowed her hard enough in the ribs to knock her sideways, forcing her to catch her weight on one of her arms. When she pushed herself back up, asking him what the fuck he was doing, he pointed to the road, where someone was walking towards them.
“Is that him?”
For a second she couldn’t tell, but then the firelight hit him, and she realized that it was. Dylan smacked her arm excitedly and practically dragged her to her feet, shoving her towards him. She swatted at his arm again, her face hot and red as she turned to Nick.
“Hey.” He smiled charmingly at the two of them.
“Hey.” (Y/n) tried to smile past the butterflies that had suddenly sprung up as soon as he flashed that dimple at her. “I wasn’t sure if you were going to show up.”
“I couldn’t stand up a pretty girl interested Sacasas’s theories on astrology and the night sky.” He winked. His attention turned to the bonfire, and the small crowd that was gathered around it. “This looks fun. What are you guys up to?”
“Getting drunk on the beach,” Dylan cut in, stepping forward and holding out a hand. “I’m Dylan by the way, nice to meet you.”
“Nicholas Scratch.” Nick smiled politely. He turned to look at (y/n), eyebrows raising. “Wanna introduce me to everyone else?”
(Y/n) nodded, and she led the way over to the campfire. She introduced all her friends and explained how they all knew each other, and then she asked Nick if he wanted a beer or anything. He said he had a family thing the next day so he wasn’t going to drink, and he had to get himself to that other party later so he had to be sober to drive. (Y/n) told him she wouldn’t drink either, in a show of solidarity.
“You don’t need to do that.” He laughed and shook his head. “I don’t want to stop you from having a good night.”
“You won’t.” She promised. “Bonfires are always fun, with or without alcohol.”
They ended up settling on the sand, chatting about nothing in particular. One of her friends started playing music through the speakers of their car, and some of them started dancing on the lakeshore. Nick raised his eyebrows at her, but she shook her head.
“I don’t dance.”
“You sure? You look like a dancer.”
She shook her head and tried to hide a smile, bumping his shoulder with hers. “You’re a bit of a flirt, aren’t you?”
“You’re just noticing now?” He raised his eyebrows in mock surprise. “I hate to tell you this, but I’ve been flirting with you all day.”
He shifted so he was facing her, and his gaze dropped down to her lips. Her stomach twisted.
“Want some food?” She asked, turning away and pushing to her feet. “I’m starving.”
“Uh, sure.”
“What do you want? A s’more? Spiderdog?”
Nick blinked at her in confusion.
“What?”
“I have no idea what either of those things are.”
“What?” Her mouth dropped open. “How do you not-- what?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know. I never went camping as a kid or anything, and I come from a pretty private community. What the hell is a s’more?”
(Y/n) shook her head and tried not to smile. She offered Nick her hand. “Alright, get up. I’m going to teach you how to make the perfect s’more.”
She grabbed two sticks which some of the guys had already sharpened and cleaned, and came back with the bag of marshmallows, and two hotdogs. Nick’s eyebrows widened, and she laughed and explained that the marshmallows were for him, and the hotdogs were for spiderdogs. She handed him a stick with a marshmallow on it and told him to hold it over the fire, and then she cut each end of the hotdogs into four pieces, and put both dogs onto her stick. When she turned around to hold them over the fire too, she saw that Nick’s marshmallow was on fire and melting off of the stick.
“Oh my god!” she tried not to laugh as she pulled the stick back, blowing on the marshmallow until the fire went out.
“Why are you laughing at me?” Nick asked, but he was laughing too. “Was I not supposed to burn it?”
She shook her head, still giggling. “No, not really.”
She pulled off the burnt shell of the marshmallow and popped it into her mouth. He raised his eyebrows, but she shook her head. She was going to offer him the warm middle of the marshmallow, but she decided that he was going to have to wait. She was going to make him the perfect s’more.
Nick got tasked with cooking the hotdogs, holding them over a spot where the fire had burned down to bright red coals, under strict instructions not to let them burn or catch fire. (Y/n) got to work toasting the marshmallow, spinning it slowly as it puffed up and turned a light golden brown. She explained to him what she was doing the entire time, as if she were cooking an extremely complex recipe, and he complied by asking a series of ridiculous questions. There was a near miss where they almost lost a spider leg, but Nick acted quickly and blew it out before it got too burnt.
Once the food was done (y/n) made the s’more, making Nick close his eyes so that he didn’t see the ingredients. Once she was done she held it up to his mouth and told him to take a bite.
“What is it?” He asked.
“Just try it. Trust me.”
He nodded, and took a bite of the s’more, ending up with melted marshmallow all over his bottom lip and the graham cracker falling apart.
“What the hell is that?” he asked, laughing and struggling to hold onto the collapsing s’more.
“Do you like it?”
“Yeah, it’s really good!” He shoved the rest of it into his mouth, and licked the melted marshmallow from his fingers. He still had some at the corner of his mouth, and (y/n) wasn’t able to hold back a giggle as she pointed it out.
“Where?” his tongue flicked out along his bottom lip. “Did I get it?”
She shook her head. “No, it’s just,” she gently tapped the corner of his mouth, and his tongue swiped out again.
“How about now?”
“Nope, still there.”
“Really?” his eyebrows rose, and he leaned closer to her. “Can you get it for me?”
“Uh, yeah.” She tried not to blush, and she reached up to wipe the marshmallow away. Once she got it she pulled away, but when she looked up from his mouth she realized how close their faces were. His eyes were really dark, but this close she could see that they were actually a really deep brown, not black.
“I, uh, I think I got it.” She said softly.
His voice was rough. “You sure?” His eyes flicked down to her lips, and then back up again.
She swallowed hard. “Uh, no, actually I think there’s still some…” She closed the distance between them and caught his mouth with hers.
He slid a hand into her hair, and he parted his lips, deepening the kiss from a light peck into something more. Her stomach flipped, and she shivered as his fingers tightened on her hair. (Y/n)’s tongue flicked out across his bottom lip, and he really did taste like marshmallows and chocolate. His other hand caught her hip and tugged her closer. She gasped against his mouth. The movement caused her to knock over the other stick with the spiderdogs, and it toppled into the fire, the food catching and burning. Neither of them noticed.
When they finally broke apart they were both smiling, and Nick laughed softly. “I was hoping you would do that.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah.” He slid his nose against hers.
“In that case, why didn’t you make a move?” She bit her lip and wiggled her eyebrows.
He raised his eyebrows in mock hurt. “Oh really? Is that how it’s gonna be?”
She shrugged. “Hey dude, it’s not my fault you didn’t make the first move, I was just--”
He growled playfully and pulled her into another kiss.
-----/--/-----
‘Nicholas Scratch, what is taking you so long?’
It was past midnight, the bonfire was burned down to embers, and everyone was snuggled up in a huddle against the cold. Relaxing music was playing through the speakers of one of the cars, and everyone was just talking.
Nick was sitting in the grass, Dylan pressed against his back, and (y/n) leaning into him with her head resting on his shoulder. Her blinks were slow and drowsy, and one hand drew lazy designs on his knee.
He hadn’t planned on staying this long. He had promised the Weird Sisters that he would meet them before the witching hour, and even though he didn’t like playing games with mortals, he had made a deal with them, and so he was going to keep his word. Prudence had chosen (y/n) to be his victim, and so he set his sights on her.
He had found her cute while they talked at the bookstore, and he had been genuinely interested when she explained that she was doing research for a book that seemed to be about the Church of Night, but when she turned down his invite to the party the only reason he pushed was because he knew he was expected to bring her to the sisters’ games. He had only come to the river because he knew that he could lure her away and teleport to the woods where the sisters were waiting.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t attractive, but it wasn’t until she was teasing him about not knowing what s’mores were that he realized he actually found her quite charming. And when he kissed her his stomach twisted in a way he wasn’t used to. He figured it was because she was a mortal, and he knew it was wrong.
He kept telling himself he was going to teleport them to the woods, but somehow the night wore on, and he and (y/n) continued to talk, and it just never happened. Now she was lying against him, tilting her head up to press a soft kiss to his jaw, and all he really wanted to do was stay here.
‘Nicky, where are you?’
The Weird Sisters were telepathic, but at a distance they could only project themselves into his mind, not read his thoughts.
‘I don’t think I’ll be able to make it, sorry girls.’
‘What?’ When the girls communicated telepathically they spoke in unison, but he could hear Dorcas’s voice above the others. ‘Why?’
He reached down to catch the fingers that were tracing a pattern on his leg, and tangled his fingers with hers, pressing a kiss to (y/n)’s wrist. ‘I struck out with the mortal girl and couldn’t get my hands on the book, so I have to work overtime on this diviner spell.’
‘But Nicky,’ that was Dorcas again, her voice a low whine. ‘You promised.’
‘Sorry girls. Maybe next time.’
The whining continued, but he muttered a quick spell and bit down on the inside of his cheek so blood filled his mouth, and their voices faded. He whispered another spell to protect himself from being summoned, and then he settled back, enjoying the smell of smoke and the sound of the water behind them.
“What was that?” (Y/n) mumbled softly, shifting against his shoulder.
“Nothing. Just talking to myself.” He reached a hand up into her thick hair and dragged his nails along her scalp. She sighed happily.
“Are you gonna head out soon? For your other party?”
He shook his head.
“Really?” She sat up to look at him.
“Yeah.” He nodded with a smile, and tugged her head towards him so he could press a soft kiss to her lips. “I’m enjoying being here with you.”
She smiled sleepily and rested her head back on his shoulder.
Nick didn’t have any plans beyond tonight, and in fact he was pretty sure after this he would never see this mortal girl again. He tucked her tighter against him. If this was to be his only night with this fascinating mortal, then he was going to enjoy every minute of it.
They ended up at the lake for a few more hours before they all piled into cars and drove home. (Y/n) was one of the designated drivers since she was sober, and Nick gave her a blessing to make sure that she was able to make it back to Greendale without falling asleep at the wheel.
“Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?” She asked. “I can drop you off at your school, it’s no problem.”
“No don’t worry about it, I have a friend who’s on their way to pick me up.”
She looked like she wanted to insist, but he said his friend was already on the road. Dylan leaned heavily on the wheel, the horn violently loud in the quiet night, and shouted for her to stop flirting and hurry up.
Her face flushed, and she bit her lip with a nervous smile. “I had fun tonight.”
“Me too,” Nick said honestly. It had been a fun, normal night, hanging out with drunk normal teenagers who talked about their small mortal problems and had parties that didn’t involve summoning demons or dangerous magic. He almost wished he could do things like this more often.
She looked like she wanted to say something, but then she thought better of it, and took a step closer. She pushed up onto her tiptoes, her hands on his shoulders, and kissed him, soft and gentle. His body moved on its own, his arms wrapping around her waist, and he tugged her closer. He sighed against her mouth.
The kiss was short and sweet, and when she pulled away they were both breathless. She kissed him again, quick, and then stepped out of his arms.
“I’ll see you around Nick.” She smiled.
Nick waited until the cars were out of sight before he teleported back to the academy, his lips still tingling from that last short kiss.

SMITTEN  ღ CHAPTER TWO
< chapter one
The academy had students from all over the world, and familiars were not permitted. Familiars were also goblins that took the form of animals to best help their witch masters. My mother's was a husky named Wolf. Classes like Herbalism and Latin can be curriculum majors, and students can choose what they wanted to study. Classes like Conjuring could only be taken once the Academy's general requirements were met.
That was information hurdled at me by my mother as she checked my bags to make sure I didn't forget anything.
The exterior of the school was Gehenna Station, and my mother accompanied me so she could introduce me to Father Blackwood.
"Also, my darling," she said before we entered. "If you happen to meet someone by the last name of Spellman, do try make friends. It was because of a Spellman that your father and I were allowed to be wed."
I was confused by the statement. She never really talked about the comings about of their marriage. I knew that witches and mortal were supposed to be separated, but the main part about witch life that my mother still spoke about would be her slang and her life at the academy.
We walked through the doors, and she looked around with a fond smile on her face.
"The academy was built according to the principles of sacred geometry," she said. "Each room is a perfectly proportioned pentagon that locks with the one next to it. No one knows how many pentagons there are, exactly, some say an infinite number."
We made it to a room where there was a statue of what my mother had shown me to be the Dark Lord, and two little children statues, a girl and a boy, looking up at him.
We entered Faustus Blackwood's office. He was the headmaster as well as the High Priest.
"Welcome to the Academy of Unseen Arts, Miss Hart, Mrs. Hart," he greeted my mother and I. "It's nice to see you here, being a full-time student after your signing of the Book of the Beast."
He handed me a paper, and said, "I've prepared your schedule. I hope they are to your liking."
I tried not to laugh with the way he pronounced "schedule", but he raised an eyebrow in question anyways, having noticed my amusement. He dismissed it while I looked over the classes.
I thought they were all appropriate, basic level classes for a witch who rarely even used her magic in her sixteen years of living. Of course, some incantations here and there, helping Archie and the gang solve the mysteries of Riverdale without them noticing what I was doing. I think that might also be a reason my mother sent me away, she thought I was too reckless, and that I would get the Riverdale and Greendale witches exposed.
"All is good?" he asked after a moment.
"All is perfect," I said.
He looked at his pocket watch and said, "Good. Mrs. Hart, if you would excuse your daughter and I, I'll take her to class and give her a tour."
"As long as the previous decision we discussed is still the same?" she asked, and I looked at her confused, but she gave me a 'don't ask' expression, so I didn't.
"Of course, anything for you, Esme," Faustus nodded to my mother. "If only the other child could be so willing the way yours is."
Again, confused.
My mother nodded, and she hugged me. She put her hands around my face and said, "Do have a good time here, darling. I had some of my best memories at this Academy. Welcome to the Path of Night, my dear. We're just a town over if you need some lovin', but do try to make some friends here first."
━━━━━━━ღ━━━━━━━
At lunch, I went back to my new bedroom. I didn't have a roommate, which made me happy enough, and I was yet to make any friends. Most people in my classes didn't pay any attention to me, which I was glad about. I thought that I would draw eyes because of the whole "half-breed" thing, but no one's even mentioned it.
I thought it was probably best to start unpacking as soon as possible. I opened my suitcase and there it was, the thing Archie asked me to take with me before I left: his varsity jacket with an R on the front to represent Riverdale High. He gave me it as a way to have him close, even though technically he was. The academy was in Greendale.
There was a knock, and I shouted a "come in" on reflex, as if I was back home and my father was behind the door. The door opened and the person leaned against the archway. I furrowed my eyebrows when I realized it was a boy with a slightly tanned complexion, dark brown hair side swept and a little wavy at the front, dressed in all black except for his white collar. If I wasn't so entranced with the randomness of him, maybe I would've noticed the fact that he had a baby face or the mole on his neck. Maybe.
"Hi," he said.
"Um, hi," I replied, standing up from my bed with the jacket in my hand. "Come in?"
He looked at the jacket, and I set it down. He took slow steps towards me, holding two trays of food.
"I saw that you came straight here, we have choir together," he said. "So I thought I'd grab you lunch, and I asked Father Blackwood which dorm you were in, sorry if this is creepy."
He hadn't even told me his name yet, and he was here bringing me food. I guess I didn't go as unnoticed as I thought.
"Thanks," I said, trailing off at the end because I didn't know his name, taking the tray from him and setting it on my bed next to the jacket.
"Nicholas, Nick, Scratch," he said, using his free hand to shake mine.
"Annalise, Annali, Hart," I said, shaking his with a smile.
"Anna-lee," he said, nodding as he overly pronounced it. "That's a cute nickname for a cute girl."
"Ah, he's a flirt," I said, sitting down on my bed and putting the tray in my lap. "And that's probably why he's here."
"No, no," he said, sitting down next to me. "I'm here because you're new here, and I don't like it when people are lonely in a place full of people."
"Ah, a flirt and a sweetheart," I said, patting his head.
"Normally, I'd be offended that I was just patted like a dog," he said, but then he nodded with an approving pout. "But I think it's adorable coming from you."
"Shut it, Scratch, that's enough charm for one day," I told him, laughing.
I didn't think much of his words, assuming that flirtatiousness was just one of his personality traits. It fit him, too, because he had a very mysterious aura and a flirty smile.
I think this one would make a great friend.
He motioned to the jacket with his head. "Riverdale High?"
"You know it?" I asked.
"I've heard about it. I've done some research on the mortal schools, Riverdale, Baxter, just for fun, I guess. I don't really leave the academy often, but it's interesting seeing what the mortals do for fun," he shrugged as I started to eat whatever food this academy served.
Definitely going home soon for home cooked meals.
"Did you do sports over there?" he asked.
"My best friend, Archie, he's a football player," I replied.
"Are you smitten for him?" he asked.
I laughed. "Who says smitten anymore?"
"Don't avoid the question."
I shook my head, and said, "No. Not for Archie Andrews."
"For anyone?"
"Nah."
Curious as to why no one's made half-breed comments about me, I asked slowly, "Have you heard about any half-witches, half-mortals?"
He nodded, and I thought he was going to say me, but instead, he said, "Sabrina Spellman? Everyone's heard of her. The daughter of the best conjurer ever, the great Edward Spellman, who chose his love of a mortal over being High Priest, which in my opinion, was really cute even though I don't understand the concept of actually loving. Witches don't really fall in love, so I don't know what any of that felt like. Sabrina doesn't go here, none of us have met her. She doesn't have her dark baptism until Halloween because that's when she turns 16."
Spellman? I wondered, thinking of when I heard the last name. I recalled when my mom told me to befriend anyone named Spellman because it was because of a Spellman, whom I am assuming is this Edward guy, that led to my parents being allowed to be together.
So, there was another half-witch, and her name was Sabrina. How come it was that everyone knew about her, but no one knew about me?

"There is no death for witches. Only transformation."
UPDATE: I know that in the Riverdale crossover episode it turns out that nick was the one who sacrificed himself to bring Sabrina back but I still think that Zelda had something to do with it

Tumblr media
You and Nick had gotten off to a particularly rocky start. Anyone who knew you knew that you could hold on to a grudge. When you had first met Nick, you had to admit that he was dashing, and you may have developed the tiniest crush on him. I mean, come on, you were a witch after all! But all those admiring thoughts flew out of your head as soon as he had opened his mouth. He was probably the most arrogant and cocky bastard you had the misfortune of meeting. He hadn’t said anything to you, but the way he spoke with the others, you just knew. This was just your first day at the Academy of Unseen Arts, but everyone already knew you. It was quite inevitable, after all, you were Sabrina’s best friend and she was pretty popular here, even if it wasn’t for the right reasons. Sabrina didn’t have this class with you, but you knew you would see her later. Meanwhile, all you could do was marvel at Nick and his big head.
As if sensing that you were staring at him, he turned around and looked at you. He cocked an eyebrow, “See something you like, Y/L/N?”
“Nothing worth seeing here, Scratch.”
You knew you were treading dangerous waters, but you couldn’t help yourself. Both of you maintained eye contact with each other, as though you were under a spell, and suddenly the moment was broken by the entrance of Lady Blackwood.
“Now students, I expect that you all have memorized the lyrics of the song?”
“Good.” She exclaimed as all the students nodded.  “Miss Y/L/N, please sing the first verse.”
You could feel everyone's eyes turn towards you and you decided that it was better to die than being in the limelight. You could see the weird sisters looking at you. They looked like predators, just waiting to hound on the unassuming prey. But what really irritated you, was the way Scratch was smirking at you. Like he knew that he knew that you would fail. This ignited a fire inside you and you decided right then and there, that no matter what, you would never let that asshole have the satisfaction of seeing you fail.
Taking a deep breath and steadying your nerves, you started singing-
“It's time we put our love behind you
The illusion has been just a dream
The valley of death and I'll find you
Now is when on a sunshine beam
So bring all the young perfection
For there us shall surely be
No clothing, tears, or hunger
You can see, you can see, you can be”
You gave yourself to music and the notes. You were so engrossed in your singing that you didn’t notice that Nick was staring at you.
~
Nick was enthralled. Your voice had captured his soul and he felt...light, as though he was floating in the air. If he hadn’t known any better, he would have thought that you were a siren, lulling unsuspecting victims into your trap. Nick, would never admit this, but when he had felt someone staring at him, he had totally expected it would either be one of the weird sisters or some guy who didn’t like him. He never expected that he would be looking at you. He was rendered speechless by you. It was not your beauty that captured his eyes, but the way you carried yourself. Your eyes looked as though they could drown someone in its depths. Your stance declared that you would not kneel to anyone and your lips looked like they could kill with just words. He was unnerved by what you made him feel, and in an effort to seem cool he opened his damned mouth and released a string of words.
“See something you like, Y/L/N?”
He cursed himself as soon as the words left his mouth. There was no way that that was playing it off cool.
“Nothing worth seeing here, Scratch.”
Ah! He should have expected this. She had a mouth on her. This just made her seem more interesting. He was unable to take his eyes off her and their eyes met, as though in a match to see who would emerge victoriously. Before a conclusion could be reached, they were interrupted by Lady Blackwood. She asked Y/L/N to sing the first verse.
This is going to be interesting. He thought to himself. He couldn’t help but smirk. She looked like a deer caught in headlights. Guess the confidence was just in her posture.
Suddenly, she threw a look at him, and then, it was as though another spirit had entered her body. She gathered herself and prepared to sing. She looked captivating as hell and he could only stare at her. He imagined he looked quite ridiculous then. He felt ridiculous. But it was impossible to rip his eyes away from her. She demanded attention, even if she didn’t want it. And then, she began singing.
~
You held your breath as soon as you finished the song. It felt that if you took even a single breath then everything would come crashing down on you. However, Lady Blackwood had no such trepidation.
“Oh my! That was rather...well done.”
You finally allowed yourself to sigh in relief and looked around you. Your eyes caught Nick’s, but you diverted them as soon as they met and in doing so you missed the soft, admiring smile which graced his face.
Fortunately, the rest of the class passed without an incident, and you were practically sagging with relief as you made your way to the Cafeteria where Sabrina was waiting for you.
“Y/N/N!” She exclaimed as she waved you over. “Survived your first day I see?”
“Hardly. Most of the classes went fine, but Singing was horrible!”
‘Lady Blackwood? She made you sing too?”
“Yeah, by myself too! As if my crippling anxiety and awkwardness weren’t apparent enough.
Sabrina let out a laugh and just shrugged as if to say, School can be the worst. You gladly agreed with that.
You both continued to talk about your day but were then interrupted by Nick.
“Nick!” Sabrina happily exclaimed as you made a face upon his entrance.
“Hey ‘brina.”
“Y/L/N.” he acknowledged you with a nod
“Scratch.” You replied coldly.
Sabrina finally caught up on the tension between you. Too scared to address it, she continued to talk as though nothing had occurred. However, you were too busy staring daggers at Scratch to even listen to what she was saying. From the looks of it, Nick wasn’t paying attention to her too.
Sabrina finally gave up and decided to address the elephant in the room.
“I gather you have both met before?”
“It would be hard to forget that meeting” You replied from with a grimace.
 Nick just ignored her question.
“I see you are just as pleasant as ever Y/L/N.”
“Couldn’t find any other table which could accommodate your big head, could you Scratch?” You casually replied as you turned away from him.
“You know, you should come with a warning label. So that people know that you are just as snarky as you are pretty.”
There was a beat of silence. Sabrina looked like she couldn’t breathe, while Nick looked horrified when he realized what he had just spoken. You, on the other hand, were downright gleeful at this opportunity.
“You think I am pretty, lover boy?” You smirked.
“No, I just think you are pretty dumb.” He retorts in the most flustered and juvenile manner.
You can't help the smirk which was growing on your face. You felt evil and you liked that.
“Are you sure, lover boy? The only one dumb around here would be you. I did beat you in singing today!” You sniggered.
Pfft, please! That was just singing. You are nowhere near as capable as I am and you never will be.
The way he said that angered you. How dare he insinuate that you were not as capable as him.
While these thoughts raced through your mind, Nick just stared at you in awe. He knew that he was getting on your nerves, but it excited him. The way your eyes flashed, how your expressions changed just as swiftly as the conversation. If you had been any other person, he would have asked you out immediately. But you weren’t any other person, and he liked that about you. What he couldn’t seem to figure out though, was why you were so angry and annoyed with him. He hadn’t done anything when he had first met you. Sure, he had said a couple of things now, but you had been aggravated with him long before that. He knew he would never be able to get close to you the way he wanted. To get you flushed for him. To make you scream his name in pleasure and to make you hot for him. But he knew that you would never allow that. At least, not yet. So for now, he had to be content in just seeing you flush out of pure rage, to hear you scream his name from frustration and get hot and bothered by him.
His thoughts were interrupted when you stood up and slammed your hand on the counter. Fortunately, it wasn’t loud enough for the other students to take notice. However, you couldn’t care less even if the entire world could hear your proclamation.
“I warn you Scratch, you will be begging for mercy before the year is through and you will regret ever saying that I wasn’t as capable as you.”
“I assure you, darling, I won't be the one begging.”
If looks could kill, Nicholas Scratch would have been one very dead man.
“Dream on, lover boy.”
“Is your drama going to have an intermission soon, darling?” Nick teased.
You just gave him an evil smile,
Oh lover boy, the curtains haven’t even risen yet.
~
You had meant every word you had said to Nick that day and you were adamant to prove that to him. You studied hard and practised every spell you could get your hands on, even the ones which weren’t in the syllabus. You were the youngest in the school, and Nick had been there for such a long time. You would be damned if you couldn’t beat him.
Nick knew that you had been perfectly serious and had no intention of losing without a fair fight. He also started studying and revising.
There was an undeniable shift in the air between the both of you. There was palpable tension and everyone could feel it. The competition between you just continued to grow and everyone was roped into it. Sabrina was shocked to see you so serious, but you were her best friend and she supported you. She became your study partner and you both tackled studies together.
You and Nick spent most of your time in the library studying, Sabrina had other things to deal with, and you didn’t force her to join you. However, you would have preferred it, especially since lover boy had decided to torture you more by sitting next to you in the library. You never conversed with him, even if he tried to.
One such day, you were doing your work in the library when you were interrupted by Nick.
“Your solution is wrong.”
“Funny. I don’t remember asking for your help.” you snarked back.
“Come on Y/L/N, wouldn’t it be just easier if we tried to get along?”
“No, and you shouldn’t even be here.”
“Why not,” he asked
“Because I don’t want you here.”
Nick gave a sigh of resignation and just left the library. He really liked Y/N, and so he couldn’t bear to see her working herself to death.
You felt a twinge of guilt as you watched him leave. Maybe you had been too harsh, but you couldn’t help it. You had to pass. Failing wasn’t an option
The next day, you went to class with a determined stance. You would prove it to him. Your hand shot up in the air to answer before the teacher had even finished asking the question.
Yes, Miss Y/L/N?
You confidently gave the correct answer and turned back to throw a victorious smile to Nick. But you were surprised to see that he had never raised his hand. Maybe he didn’t know the answer, you mused.
However, when the rest of the day passed in a similar fashion you knew that he was doing this intentionally. With each passing hour, you grew more and more frustrated until you couldn’t hold it back anymore.
It confused you, you couldn’t understand why you were so frustrated by this. You should have been happy that he had given up, cause that meant that you had won. But, this felt empty and bad. That was when you realized that it wasn’t the competition you had been craving, but him and his company. The realization that you actually liked that fucker hit you like a bolt of lightning. You suddenly couldn’t breathe and had to lean against the wall to support yourself. How could you actually like him!? He had constantly made stupid remarks and his ego was so inflated that you actually wondered whether he would burst! But, even as you thought that, you started thinking about how he was nice with everyone around him. He helped the slower students and he was always courteous with everyone. Maybe you had been too quick to judge him. Sure, he got on your nerves and constantly rubbed off your wrong side, but he hadn’t been mean to you. You took a shuddering breath as you realized how wrong you had been. You groaned as you realized that you now owed him an apology, but only for being mean to him first.  You would never apologise for trying to best him because that was something he was responsible for. Your feelings for him was something you didn’t want to address yet. It would fuck up your already fucked up life.
As soon as the school ended you made your way towards the library and waited for Nick. When he started passing by the door you grabbed him by the collar and pulled him inside a secluded corner as you slammed the door shut.
The surprised expression on his face would have been rather comical, had you not been mad at him.
“What do you think you are doing!?” You practically growled at him.
“I honestly have no idea right now”
“Don’t play smart with me,” you snapped, “Why haven’t you been answering the questions?
“Because I don't care anymore!
Any thoughts you previously had about apologising to him flew out of your mind.
“What do you mean you don't care anymore?” You inhaled sharply, “You started this entire thing!”
“I didn’t know that you were going to make yourself crazy over this!”
Why do you care whether I make myself crazy over this? You started it and you are going to finish it!
Nick just pinched the bridge of his nose and exhaled, “I am not doing this Y/N.”
“Why did you start this then?”
“Because I didn’t know how else to get you to talk to me!” He finally shouted.
A queer silence descended between the both of you. He looked at you as though waiting to see your reaction. That was when you noticed how close you were standing to each other. Your bodies were practically touching, and your breaths were intermingling. You couldn’t stop your eyes from drifting to his lips. You lashes fluttered as you looked back up to him, only to see that he was staring at your lips too. You couldn’t hold back anymore. You rose on your tiptoes and kissed him. For a moment he didn’t kiss you back, and you felt like your hopes were drowning. Maybe he didn’t like you that way. But then, you felt his lips move against yours. Your hands weaved through his hair and his encircled your waist. You jumped off the ground and wrapped your legs around his waist, ankles crossed to support yourself. Your mouth never left his as he turned around and you felt your back hit the wall. It didn’t hurt you, but you just held him more tightly. Your tongues clashed and you could taste him on your mouth. His lips then left your mouth even though you didn’t want it to and he placed kisses on your neck. You both were heaving from breathlessness, but you didn’t let that deter you. You placed kisses on his cheek and felt his hands travelling up and down your waist ever so slightly brushing against the underside of your breasts. You threw your head back in pleasure as you felt him getting bolder and travelling further down your neck. His hands brushed against the sleeve of your top, but before he could push it down, the door flew open and you both parted as though struck by lightning. You turned around to see Sabrina staring at you with wide eyes.
“What the fuck happened here?”
You tried to control your breathing, and you could see that Nick was doing that too. Thoughts raced through your mind as you tried to explain the situation.
Did he regret it? Did you overstep any boundaries? You had practically attacked him and did not even give him a chance to say. With every such thought, you were getting more and more horrified. Your feelings must have been written all over your face, and Nick easily read them, however, he thought that you were horrified at the thought of having kissed him. He felt as though someone had ripped his heart from his chest. In a quiet voice, he answered Sabrina’s question,
“Nothing.”
Nothing. That word broke your heart. Nothing. That’s what you meant to him. Nothing. That’s what had happened between you two. Nothing. That’s what would ever happen between you two. That word conveyed more than enough about what you meant to him.
“I need to go.” You said, as your voice broke over the last two words.
You rushed out before anyone could see the tears streaming down your face. You could hear Sabrina following you out, asking you to stop. But you didn’t stop until you reached your home, where you finally broke down in the arms of your best friend
Nick watched in devastation as you rushed off. He thought that when you had kissed him, it was because you had actually felt something for him. But upon seeing your reaction when Sabrina stumble upon the both of you, he knew that it was pointless. With a sigh of resignation, he started making his way out of the room. Before he could do so, however, he was stopped by a hand on his chest.
Well, well, well. Looks what the cat dragged in. Heard you and Y/N finally decided to fuck the life out of each other.
“You have the rest of your life to be a jerk, Agatha, why don’t you take the day off?”
“Ooh. Snarky! I like that.” Agatha exclaimed as she fingered the collar of his shirt. “Why don’t you forget about her and let me show you a good time?”
Nick’s patience was thinning fast. He grabbed her hands off his body. “I don't have time for this Agatha.”
“Fine,” she said as she smiled evilly. But don’t come running back to me or my sisters when that bitch leaves you.”
She turned around and left the room, leaving Nick alone to ponder about everything that had just conspired.
~
“What happened Y/N?”
“I kissed him”
There was a beat of silence.
“And he kissed me back.”
More silence.
“Say something.” You pleaded as you looked at Sabrina. You both were sitting on her bed. You didn’t want to be in your house with your snoopy siblings, so you had begged Sabrina to have this conversation at her home. Sabrina was naturally dying to know what had happened so she readily agreed.
Finally, she spoke, “I thought you hated him.”
“I thought so too.” You sniffled, “but I guess I got so caught up in the stupid competition that I didn't even realize when my feelings for him started changing. But it doesn’t even matter now. He doesn’t like me back the way I do. I was nothing to him.”
Sabrina felt helpless as she looked at you.
“You should forget about him. You deserve someone who actually likes and doesn't just use you as a pastime. You deserve more Y/N”
You knew that what Sabrina was saying was correct but you couldn’t forget about Nick so easily. You needed some time alone.
“You’re right,” you said as you stood up from the bed. “I do deserve more, I just need som-some time ’brina. I’ll see you tomorrow, kay?”
Sabrina just nodded as she watched you leave.
Back in your home, you took a bath trying to forget about everything that had happened today. You scrubbed your body as though trying to forget about how he had touched you. How his hands had roamed on your body. How his kisses felt on your skin. The way he had kissed you, the way it felt when you touched him. Needless to say, the bath hadn’t helped at all. You came out of the bathroom more frustrated than ever and as you crossed your room something caught your eye. You turned around and saw your reflection in the full-length mirror. It wasn’t your nakedness that made you feel vulnerable, but the marks that had been left on your body. Love marks, you realized. Your neck was peppered with his love marks and it just served to make you sadder. Your fingers brushed against the marks and you thought that you could still feel the way he had touched and kissed you. You were startled out of your daze when you heard someone say your name.
“Y/N”
You were shocked to find Nick staring at you and for a moment you were frozen. It was only when you noticed him averting his eyes, did you remember you were naked. Gasping, you quickly wrapped your towel around your body and stared at him
“Nick! What-how are you here?”
“Well, I am not really here. I’m astral projecting”
“Praise Satan! You can’t just do that. I was naked when you came into my room!”
“I did enjoy the view though.” He joked, trying to lighten the mood.
You felt your blood boil. He had no right to do that. To joke as though you were the best of friends, as though nothing had happened.
“Stop!” you practically screamed, “You, you can't just do that!”
“Sorry, I was just trying to-”
“I know what you were trying to do.” you cut him off before you could finish. “But I mean nothing to you. You don’t get to kiss me and touch me and then just leave.”
“You were the one who left.” He retorted
“Only because you said it meant nothing to you.”
“I didn’t mean that! Sabrina just startled me with her entrance and I said the first thing that came to my mind.”
“Go away, Nick”
Nick inhaled sharply when he heard his name on your lips for the first time.
“Why do you care so much about what I said”
“Does it matter?” You said resignedly “Why are you here?”
“To tell you that I don’t want to leave this time.
You froze, worried that if you moved then whatever trance this was, would break.
“I want to go out with you. I want to kiss you and touch you. And I don’t want all that while we are hiding in the darkest corner of the library.”
You could hardly breathe. He wanted the same things that you did. If this was some kind of cruel trick then you would kill whoever was responsible. As you were thinking about that you realized that he had stopped speaking, waiting for your response
“Y/N, please, say something.”
Do you really want that? you said breathlessly like you couldn’t believe it.
“All of it. And all of you.” He smiled as he continued, “From the moment I met you, I was enchanted by you. Everything you did, captivated me. I wanted to talk to you but I was rendered speechless and somehow the first things that came from my mouth, were insults. Then, I guess you hated me and I knew that you would never talk to me. So, I tried to irritate you and mock you. I never meant to start this stupid competition but it was worth it if it meant that you would at least look at me, so I went along with it. Today, when you kissed me, I was afraid that if I stopped you would leave me. And then you did leave me. But I don’t want to leave now, not unless you want me to.”
His entire monologue felt like a breath of fresh air. You felt like you could finally breathe again. As soon as he finished, he looked at you with hopeful eyes.
A small smile graced your face, “I owe you an apology too. I judged you way too harshly, even before I knew you. During the entire competition, my only goal was to make you lose, but I couldn’t help but see how kind you were to everyone else. How intelligent you were and how much fun I had whenever we were competing. Every time I was away from you, I was craving for your snarky remarks and when you laughed that stupid laugh of yours whenever I said something even marginally funny. I don’t want to leave, nor do I want you to leave”.
You were smiling so much that it hurt, but it was all worth it to listen to his laugh as you talked. There was a moment of silence when you finished speaking.
“Do you really want all that?” He asked as if he still couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“I do,” you confirmed. “I wish I could touch you right now.”
“Me too. Would-would you mind coming out to the academy right now?” He asked in an unsure tone, afraid that you would say no.
Your smile grew, even though you thought that wasn’t possible.
“Race you to the tree on the boundary?”
‘You’re on!’
Nick vanished, and you gave a disbelieving sigh, still only partially convinced that all this was a real. You quickly grabbed and wore the clothes you had laid out, and rushed from the back door towards the academy.
You hadn’t expected that you would reach the tree before him and therefore you weren’t surprised when you saw him waiting there for you. As if sensing that you were approaching, he turned around and his face broke into a smile. You rushed towards him and threw yourself on him, hugging him with all your might.
“I was half-convinced that I was dreaming.” You confessed to him.
“Dream of me a lot, do you?” He asked you in a teasing tone.
You laughed and pulled back from the hug, and instead leaned in, joining your foreheads. “I’m glad you are still the same cocky bastard.”
He smiled at your teasing and grabbed your hand, weaving his fingers through yours.
“I like the way your hand fits in mine.” He said bashfully.
You smiled and leaned in to kiss him, “You know...I can kiss better than you, lover boy...!”
You felt him silently laugh against your lips, “We’ll just see about that, darling.”
