I've been thinking about their design for a while and finally, at class, it broke me to draw him (the paper rips when I colour T.T...)

Almost 10 years later and we still FEASTIN.

I remember when this page dropped on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, and Blackenloin/Goldenheart/Goldheart/w/e shippers all collectively lost our minds. Yes, Ballister and Ambrosius are very shippable from the get-go (their hand placement on p.13, Ambrosius on p.21 to Ballister "Are you trying to make me jealous" and his otherwise flirty dialogue, Ambrosius holding Ballister's hand at the bar on p.102, plus little hints and things by Nate on Nate's tumblr), but p.126 was an outright confirmation that it wasn't just angsty and close platonic stuff (with very clingy Ambrosius) that's fun to ship but not exactly canon in the text itself (like you can read it as "oh these two had something" from the get-go but it's not exactly explicit up until this point, and it's a different experience reading the completed comic all in one go versus reading it page by page over the course of a couple years as pages release). The Director's wording, Ambrosius' little blush. Ahh, these beans.

Hey! It's me again :)

I decided to make them bird versions because it would make it easier for me to look at the characters. I don’t know how many bird enjoyers are here, but if you are one of them, you can read a little more about the birds that I chose and why!

It was pretty easy with Ambrosius. I understood that he must be some kind of bird of prey and be associated with something noble. In my universes, the light (or "gold" if you will) birds are eagles, so yes, he's a Martial Eagle. But the gold edition, for obvious reasons.

Things are much more interesting with Ballister. We chose a Cinereous Vulture for him. These are wonderful birds, they cleanse the land of carrion and disease that might be spreading of the earth. But people still dislike them, associating them with corpses and death in general. But these birds do not kill anyone. I mean, even tits kill, guys-- So yes, it's Ballister ^^

I also already found a bird for Nimona. This is a fairly obvious option, but incredibly suitable- If there are those here who want to see more content with their bird versions, I'll show you them soon--

Nimona OC - Charlotte Swiftheart/Corova: Hearts of Gold

Hiiii! Not much to say tonight. I'm hoping for another good week (it's supposed to be warm and there's a fucking eclipse tomorrow, so those seem look good signs?)

Chapter 11: Chari is on Ao3! I finished it just in time! It just starts violent and bloody, and then it's pretty mild the rest of the time. Charlotte gets to beat people up and adopt street orphans, if you're interested. Working on chapter 12 and planning to have Nimona make her grand appearance in it. Woo!

i think Voidball would be flattered, considering most of their characterization is inspired by Megamind (and Nimona, to some extent) who would consider something like this a compliment

in fact, this sorta reminds me of that scene in Roxanne's apartment with all the hanging scraps of paper where she finally solves the big mystery... god i love Megamind its so good you should go watch it. why has this blog just become me telling you guys to go watch movies recently. what is wrong with me (its The Mucus)

I drew a Spider-Nimona AU, where Nimona is (chooses to be) a Spider-Person. She of course wasn't bitten by a spider or anything, just chose to do have and use those powers (though on occasion she is a radioactive spider). The VeNimona version is partly inspired by her Kaiju-esque form from the end

I still need to watch Across the Spider-Verse, and am looking forward to doing so, but the themes I know both films share led me to do this.

can you tell us more about cowboy au nimona? What are they doing, did ballister lose his arm the same way, what schemes do they get up to in towns they pass through, that sort of thing?

not sure exactly of how im adapting ballisters Inciting Incident but i know its going to be film-canon based (ie framed for the assasination of an important person) and ambrosius is definately still the source of the arm loss. potentially he was shot in the arm/shoulder and complications led to an amputation? maybe there was an explosion? but what i do know is that sometime after that he's on a days-long ride between two towns when something spooks his horse and it throws him and bolts. he tries to keep going on foot, eventually collapsing, and wakes up to find he's been joined by a very red horse. after determining that she seems to be tame he hops on her back, and she seems like a perfectly normal but stubborn horse until she gets fed up and tells him to sit still, she knows where she's going. he chalks this up to his dehydration initially. im actually not sure how long it takes for nimona to fully reveal herself.

im drawing somewhat from the graphic novels vibe here because ballister ends up doing a lot more illegal shit than in the film. starts out of necessity and esculates, with much encouragement from nimona. part of why im rotating this so hard in my head right now is their dynamic in this scenario. they're not just a good team, ballister is reliant on nimona for his survival. she's his transportation, she hunts food for him, she scouts, she's far too eager to get shot for him. she lugs around a heay saddle that she took it upon herself to steal for his safety. shes giving this guy everything she's got just to not be alone.

as for what they're doing - im not decided on what their primary goal is, but it comes with a side of stealing and evading the law - ie, ambrosius. im thinking hes either a sheriff or a bounty hunter but im leading towards something like the second, and making the insititute some kind of hired gaurd or bounty hunters association. hes after ballister, and at some point becomes the only person who knows for certain what's up with his horse.
