i am reading this paper about all the bombs and missiles and other weapons the USA govt gives to Israel, because I am trying to understand why we are doing this, and it makes me sick at heart—all this money and advanced technology, all poured into blowing human beings up. "When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail"—how could billions and billions of dollars worth of the tools of violence NOT result in violence?

I don't feel any closer to understanding what is happening in terms of how it connects to concrete reasons in people's heads. The connection between giving a government billions of dollars in weapons and that government solving all of its problems with extreme violence seems very clear though.

USA policies toward the rest of the world keep being like "Yeah, we want to promote peace, but, like, this group of people is SO uniquely threatening and unreceptive to normal propositions of peace that we HAVE to wage endless war against them and commit atrocities." First it was "Japan will never surrender so we HAVE to nuke civilians," then it was Communists, then it was Terrorists, but it's the same thing.

I don't remember the world before 9/11, but I can look at and listen to art and music from before 9/11, and it seems like something terrible happened in USA culture, where once there was a strong "anti-war" sentiment and understanding of what war does to people, but within my lifetime, it's like no one has the audacity to imagine a world where endless war isn't "necessary." In high school my class mates were talking about seeing videos online of ISIS sawing peoples heads off and that was basically all I knew about "what was happening in the Middle East."

Does anybody even think about why peace signs are part of the 60's "aesthetic?"

I don't have any conclusion here. Have we lost the power to imagine anything different?

I think my reply got eaten up by Tumblr on your golden sun post but I am loving it so much, I absolutely love how I don't care if I don't know which town to go to, I love how my strat has been for Isaac to cure after every battle (I just got water girl I forgot her name but I love her), I love how I don't know the most optimal strats for djinn, because it's been so fun swapping them with each character to see synergy.

I saw you say Isaac is ground, garet is fire, Ivan (? I think that's his name I feel he's a blorbo) is wind, and water girl is (obviously) water? Does that mean I stack each djinn of the same element on the characters?

I stopped myself from playing it this morning because I knew I would have lost track of time and missed my puzzle day with friends.

I feel like after I've experienced the 2 games I will want to consume any and all media connected to it.

I think the fact that Camelot made it so your lead protagonist is a essentially a paladin was super smart.

It makes it so Isaac has a multitude of capabilities and roles you can use him as throughout the games but ALSO showcases that he's a caring person that, while often forced to use his weapon to defend himself, he's equally capable of healing the harm done. It's thematic AND functional!

You do NOT need to give each party member a Djinn of the same type. In fact Golden Sun ENCOURAGES YOU to switch/swap and mix/match them with different elements to give your characters new skills and stats they otherwise wouldn't without.

As you get more Djinn you're able to rank up the classes for each character as they stand in Mono-Element types.

Case in point, Issac goes from Squire > Knight > Gallant > Lord > Slayer as you find more Venus/Earth Djinn.

BUT by adding different Djinn you can unlock Dual-Element classes for him like Dragoon by mixing 3 Mercury/Water Djinn and 3 Venus/Earth Djinn.

And there's a WHOLE BUNCH OF COMBOS! So experiment! And later on in the series you can do Tri-Element combo classes!

Build your characters how you want!

I'm glad you're enjoying it BUT ALSO when it comes to any and all media connected to it... you'll find yourself scraping the bottom of the barrel. Aside from a few little (not-really-canon) comic things, the only real Golden Sun content is just the three games.

I just finished Avici and I had to come over here to express how amazing it was. I'm usually not into romance fics but Sukuna/Reader stories usually get at least a second look from me because his canon character is just very hard to write a 'normal' romance for so any story seriously tackling that is worth trying imo, and I'm so glad I did!

The characterisation of Gojo and Sukuna are wonderful, you really delved deep into the darker side of these monstrously powerful sorcerers in the frankly grim world of jujutsu. I've seen a lot of fics make these two softer (especially Gojo) so your portrayal is like a splash of cold water on a hot day lol. I don't even particularly like Gojo honestly but stories that show his darker side kind of make me see his appeal, a little.

I gotta say normally I'm ambivalent towards smut and don't actively search for it, but it's such a core part of Avici that I feel it wouldn't really work as well without it. The flashbacks and slow reveal of what exactly the reader is and the twisted bond they have with Sukuna and later Gojo really add a sense of tension and like, dread? To the whole thing, which was lovely. I also read your director's cut bc I was so enthralled, I'm blown away by how much went into it!

If you're willing to weigh in, what do you personally imagine happens to the reader during the canon timeline?

answer is long and contains jjk manga spoilers. 

aaaaaaaaaa that makes me so happy!!! i started out with very little interest in gojo but sort of wrote myself into liking him lol working on avici made me realize how easy it is to draw comparisons between him and sukuna. the things i've come to like about him are mostly things that lend themselves well to angsty scenarios, characters who are messy like that are like catnip to me. as for how things would go for the reader, it’s mostly just more misery.

by the end of the shibuya arc, the reader is in the custody of kenjaku and uraume. as a result of the failed noh exorcism, they have a strong connection to gojo so they would’ve felt it when he was sealed. it would resemble what sukuna’s dormancy feels like, and i think it would leave them with some complicated feelings. maybe that would be enough for them to leave and start wandering in search of some other way to pass the time, or maybe they’d stay there waiting. either way, uraume finds and retrieves them. this would probably involve a fight. the reader by the end of avici isn’t the docile creature uraume remembers. sukuna probably had the foresight to warn them, since this is an outcome he anticipated and even wanted, but that wouldn’t make the reader any easier to deal with. they are, by design, the kind of curse that only someone like sukuna or gojo can safely handle. maybe kenjaku can help with the apprehension lol

for the most part, i don’t think the reader would be very active. they would stick with uraume and kenjaku because they know that’s where they need to be. they would be there to spectate the culling game, they would be there when sukuna reappears in a new host, and they would be there when gojo dies. that might be the thing that finally sets them off, since they were counting on gojo to win that fight. if we’re going into fully indulgent territory lol then the reader would be involved in the final battle against sukuna, however that turns out. that’s the natural conclusion of their arc and it would be poetic for him to die at not only the hands of the thing he created, but the collective remnants of the people he used and tortured in the past. and it would be fitting for the reader to follow him, as promised, into whatever kind of oblivion comes next for curses. 

i guess that’s a little bleak lol but that’s more or less how it was always going to be. there’s no end to this for the reader, they’re stuck with him for eternity because he made them that way. but maybe there’s some closure there at least.

sorry this is long I just have an influx of feelings cause your writing is so wonderful I'm just??? aaaaaAAAAA so, i was seeing people talk about Salyra, and being passive aggressive and whatnot, and this was before I played the latest chapter myself. Sure, the revelation would potentially hurt/confuse the MC, and it was a route I took last chapter. WIthout context, I guess reading the asks you were getting, I was mentally preparing to see how badly Salyra content would hurt me (cause I love angst, so not actually hurt me but in that punch you narrative heart of course by god I hope I am making sense) like, when i played at the start, i ended up wanting the MC and Ahlf have a good bond cause i could feel the struggle but also concern (or maybe I'm just to emotionally easy and just wanted peace in the family who knows lol) so it ended with a high relationship value between MC and Ahlf. But with Salyra, I still remember the first time I went through and got the revelation that she was not only alive but had a new family like??? I'M SORRY W H A T NOW???? Tho I did tell myself if there was a good reason for why she did what she did maaaaaybe I'd go with the reconciliation if there was one. It didn't go that way I still made MC not come to a conclusion. Mainly cause well... IDK like I said maybe I'm weak emotionally. While I don't forgive Salyra's reasons as to why she did what she did (the disappointment, like man I know she was trying to protect the MC but...), the emotions and desire to reconcile just made me feel like I cannot have it actually be on a 100% "I cannot forgive you" route. (also the slap that Ahlf just really didn't tell the MC about her letters like... why tho I thought I liked you by the end now I'm just >:C) (also really like that you can make it clear you are fine with Rana and Denzor, it's really just Salyra's actions that what really hurt)

You're completely free to feel the way you feel about Salyra. The game isn't about making peace with Salyra or forgiving her and you'll never be punished for having an antagonistic relationship with her, so if you go in wanting to reconcile but then doing the opposite, it's fine 😅 I tend to have more fun writing the aggressive responses with Salyra than the happy/forgiving responses.

Danzor and Rana, while part of Salyra's new family, aren't the same as Salyra and will not be nearly as pushy 😋

Yep, it's actually less people than I expected when I’ve joined the fandom but I'm glad Kou has some recognition and "fans" in the real world, although I totally understand why he can't be a highly acclaimed character.

5. How do you feel about it? 

I don’t care really, there was a time when I felt even more insecure about other ocs, but nowadays it doesn't really matter or affect me as long as no one messes with me. Also, I really must say that I love the creativity of the Muns!

6. Do you feel any negativity towards them? 

Nope.

7. Do you like seeing their oc(s) interact with your man/woman? 

It depends, I must admit that there are a lot of good characters even outside the ship with Kou. But since I consider myself a fan of well-constructed and readable stories, I wouldn't be able to couple MY tastes with all the ocs that are paired with him. However, my opinion should not be limiting or a hindrance for writers to do as they please, so I don't wish to offend anyone with this.

8. Do you feel competitive against them?

No. I consider their relationship as multiple universes.

9. Confident, or pessimistic? 

It depends.

10. Would you like more to get to know about your ship, or would you rather it being lowkey? 

A mix of both.

I like the ship and I wish I could bring more content from them more often, but I would like it to be understood that they are not the main couple of my story, they are actually quite secondary, and for that reason I would love to introduce the rest of my cast, but strangely I only have inspiration for KouRisu.

11. Do you follow any of those people (them whom ship themselves with your fictional lover) 

Yes, and fortunately we’re mutuals. <3

12. Are you friends with them? 

"Friends" is a strong word for me, but if I could define my relationship with them, it would be something a little less than that but a lot more than acquaintances/mutuals. I appreciate them and am fond of them but unfortunately, I have not been able to get close enough in and out of character.

13. What do you think about the 'stans' ? 

Honestly, I'm not interested in Kou’s “fandom” outside of artistic or literary, so I haven't interacted with them much. I only associate with roleplayers or artists, so I can't really have a strong opinion on this.

14. Are you worried about plagiarism or copying of your oc(s) by others? 

I don't think anyone would dare, I'm very perceptive about small details. And if it were to happen, I would expect cooperation and understanding in order to come to a reasonable conclusion.

i Really like ougi stay its like tailor made for my tastes probably because i made it

but originally ougi stay was supposed to be like 3k, and a short lead in to another fic where i was gonna think very seriously about their character and give them actual character development and write an actual (at least somewhat meaty) plot

basically thats this wip. ive got so many ideas for it and ugh. i really really wanna do it right. in my own honest opinion, although im not sure how much of it got across, i think ougi stay did a good job illustrating ougis character as well as like, their personal hangups, and i want to bring those to more of a resolution bc im not happy with nisioisin for shunting them to the back of the toy box

some of the ideas i have are like so like 🥺:') to me... i hope to get that across and make it good, and if im really lucky convey that same feeling that i feel when i think about it...

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN BRASIL RIGHT NOW:

So, as some of you may have noticed, today (2/10) was elections day here in Brasil. Things are really tense and scary here, at least for myself. Right now, our president, unfortunately, is Jair Bolsonaro, a man who has openly said he supports torture and our dictature, is also openly misogynist, queerphobic, the first thing he did when he became president was putting an end to the ministery of culture, he openly made fun of the pandemic, being able to help the people in need during covid's peak and decided not to, saying things like "it's just a little flu, people need to stop being so dramatic about it", made advertisement of a medecine not approved by doctors which his supporters started taking like water, never properly wore a mask and promoted marches during the lockdown, oh, and also spread fake news about vaccines, wich made a lot of people refuse to take them, among many many maaaany other things (I'm so tired rn, it's 02:59am here, if you guys want to, I can get the sources and post here but tomorrow.). Today we had the chance to take him out of our lives, but this is Brasil, no one takes anything seriously and we always find a nee way to surprise people.

I didn't want to sleep until the votes apuration reached 100% but I'll be waking up super early tomorrow so yeah, I must sleep. Anyways, the vote apuration is currently on 99,99% (it's been for the last hour btw) but those ate the results so far.

In conclusion, I am legitmately terrified. Lula was our best shot to take him out, so everyone who didn't want Bozo voted for him, and we were really hopefull we could get him elected on the first turn, but now we'll have to have a second one where we choose either Lula or Bolsonaro. The choice is obvious to me, but as you guys can see, most people prefer to elect a genocidal man than a socialist.

I don't really know what I wanted to achieve with this post, but I just thought it was important to let everybody now what is happening here. We are comparing this to our period of dictature, bc a lot of people here still deny the fact we had one or say it was the best time of their lives and that, quoting my grandma "the history books are wrong".

I once had to research the kinds of tortures that were made by the army during the dictature for school and it still haunts me to this day.

I'm fucking terrified of the second turn. Things are getting more and more expensive here. There are reports of people raiding garbage trucks to look for food bc they're hungry. I am lucky to be privileged and I can still buy food, but for how long? I don't really wanna find out what four more years with him as president will do to us, but I'm scared. I'm scared to go out in the streets, and to openly say my opinions on the matter. There are also reports of people being murdered on the streets bc they were wearing stickers of leftists candidates.

starting with ava because she’s my dearest. her hero alias is sundrian (the root origin of ‘sunder’, as in ‘torn asunder’. take that as you will). she’s an advanced telekinetic and a potential omega-level mutant. she was briefly studied by xavier to explore the extent of her powers, but they never reached a conclusion because ava left the school. additionally and bouncing off her telekinesis, she has radar detection and temporary telekinetic enhancements. she can ‘fly’, but it’s more like just telekinetically lifting herself as opposed to actual flight.

next up, mar. she’s s.h.i.e.l.d’s only successful supersoldier, but that’s only because peggy shut down the experiment and mar managed to convince her to let mar continue with it. mar had an untreatable tumour which pushed her towards the experiment. she’s got all the classic supersoldier enhancements in strength, agility, etc. she was given the alias ‘liberty’ by s.h.i.e.l.d since she was supposed to fill a captain-america-shaped hole, but she later goes by maverick.

third from the intro post, ilena! she’s the daughter of hecate and has always been deeply entrenched in the mystic world. imagine her surprise when she has very little classically witchcraftian power. her abilities instead lean to hecate’s other factors: fear illusion, canine transformation, moonlight empowerment, ghost-speaking, levitation, minor umbrakinesis, teleportation via summoning. she doesn’t have a classic hero name since she doesn’t consider herself a hero, instead she has a few aliases due to her infamy, including but not limited to: the moonstone, the queen of the crossroads, hecatechild.

first of the new babes, sasha esau. her alias is arcane. she’s a sorceress a la wong/doctor strange/etc and has been studying at kamar taj for a while since her heart transplant surgery. as such, she’s got all their mystic powers: eldritch magic; tao mandalas, astral projection, telekinesis, enchantment, conjuration. also her sling ring is a big part of her plot.

finally, leta, miss letty baby. leta shivers aka doctor shivers, who constantly cringes over the ‘villiany’-ness of her title. she’s a s.h.i.e.l.d doctor who also works closely with helen cho. most are unsuspecting of her and assume she’s simply human; but that may not be the case. i haven’t decided if she’s a low-ranking mutant or psychic or a little bit mystic herself, but she is clairaudient. she can hear things from the past and future and sometimes has difficulty knowing which she’s hearing. you can imagine how bad of a time she has in wakanda while the thanos battle is going on, that up-coming snap ringing in her ears.

I've been debating making this because this is definitely not what my blog is known for and I was worried that people wouldn't want to see it, but with the amount of shit im seeing on twitter it's compelled me to make this because I'm so frustrated.

I feel like I could make 100 posts about 'Cancel Culture' and it wouldn't be enough, so I'm just going to focus on what caused me to write this tonight - the Tommy situation. *Warning for a VERY long post below*

To be clear, Tommy has been in 'hot water' on twitter for the past couple weeks, roughly starting with the KSI collaboration where he made a joke about dream stans.

Last week, when the SBI 'exposing account' got made and twitter hyped it up, someone made a Tommy account and made a thread of things he needed to be '''educated''' on: https://twitter.com/idktommyinnit/status/1379158964148002821?s=20

I'll let you read it for yourself (and come to your own conclusion) but to me.... half of this stuff does not require a twitter thread? Breaking it down accusation by accusation:

1) 'The Mexican accent' - the clips show he is clearly only doing it when copying big Q (who famously exaggerates his own accent) and there is zero malicious intent (Big Q is also IN the 3 clips mentioned in the thread, and obviously didn't tell Tommy it was offensive). There's debates in the comments from people who think it is offensive and people who don't, so I'm not trying to pick a side. To avoid accidentally offending anyone, maybe it is best for him to stop, but the way twitter acts as if he was purposefully doing this to offend people is just not true.

2- 'Making a slave joke' - Even saying that feels wrong, because it suggests Tommy is doing something awful. Instead, they are referring to the 'bit' that Tommy, Techno, Tubbo and Ant were involved in, when Tommy and Techno took Tubbo and Ant as their slave. People are taking this vod and using it to accuse Tommy of being insensitive to Black people, but I think people are just assuming the worst. Slavery existed long before the transatlantic slave trade and still exists today. This is a role-play server - Tommy 'forced' Ant to work for him and used the word slave, which to me is exactly what was happening? People 'murder' others on the SMP, people 'kidnap' on the SMP, people are 'terrorists' on the SMP, and all happen without issue. To add, Ant is a WHITE man. Tommy taking a WHITE man as a slave is not something uber problematic.

3- 'His reply to Techno's 'murder is bad' tweet'. - I get people saying that Techno's initial tweet was insensitive, but saying Tommy's agreement to this from almost over a year ago is something notable and worth addressing is just super nitpicky and is clearly only in there to pad out the thread. It also makes me wonder what other CC's interacted with it and if THEY should be cancelled too (according to twitter).

4 - 'The saying slurs' tweet / jokes about 'whats the worst word you know' - This one I can kinda see how people might not like it. However, it's clearly a 'poke' at his friends, making them seem like bad people. To me, its in the same vein as 'Tubbo is a Tory' or when Tubbo shoots back that 'Tommy is a Nigel Farage fan'. They're obviously not, but its making fun of your friends by saying they are, and mockingly making them out out to be bad people.

5- 'Covid jokes' - People are taking jokes he made about him 'having covid' and saying he shouldn't joke about this, even going as far to linking it to asian hate crimes. I don't even know how to explain that that this is just? not a 'cancellable offence'? I'm sorry but if I hear anyone in my family coughing I make a little joke that 'they better not have covid' and I know other people do. I have someone in my family who is extremely vulnerable to Covid and if they caught it, would quite literally die, but I can understand that jokes like these are harmless. The whole internet had a running joke that we were in a 'panoramic' or 'Panera' or 'insert any word that sounds like pandemic.

This thread got a lot of attention and anything he tweeted afterwards was spammed with the link and there were so many people upset that he hadn't addressed it. I saw so many people say how 'upset' and 'disappointed' they were in him.

I get it, it looks bad. But for context (which the tweet doesn't give), the reply was only up for less than a minute. It was obvious to me, even BEFORE Tommy addressed it in his stream (clip here: https://twitter.com/cowrpse/status/1380640046202593283?s=20 ) that it was a mistake. In the clip, he clearly acknowledges his mistake and seems embarrassed. To me, this situation should just be laid to rest because a mistake does not need this much attention, but twitter disagrees.

In case it wasn't obvious by now, the tide is turning against Tommy and people are less willing to ignore genuine mistakes and assume the worst.

Today, during his birthday stream people were clearly already waiting for him to mess up. Around half way through, he started saying 'finna' out of context and Tubbo joined in. This led to tons of tweets telling him he was misusing AAVE, and while there were plenty of people willing to be patient and educate, there were also people seeing this as an example of him being a 'bad person' and someone who should be 'without a platform'. I think people forget that not everyone has the same internet upbringing as they do. In general, I think its noted that the misuse of AAVE is something that has just recently been brought to attention. I learned about it through tiktok and stan twitter, and I don't think it's unimaginable that a British 17 year old boy (who is not active on either) has never heard of 'African American Vernacular English'.

Just for a fuller picture, today has also brought about another 'criticism' that I just had to address.

1) 'Tommy made a KKK joke' - Like the 'slavery' point, saying this is extremely misleading. It makes people think the worst. Here's the clip: https://twitter.com/ghostburz/status/1380673589612011522?s=20

Here, Tommy and Tubbo are both joking about Tubbo's 'bit' of naming his alt streams 'aaaaaaaaaa', 'bbbbbbb', 'cccccc', etc and how it would've been bad if it was 'kkkkkkkk' (for obvious reasons). That is literally it. It is a less than 20 second clip. Acknowledging that people woulda thought about the 'KKK' is not him 'not understanding Black issues', its a throwaway joke about the obvious.

I've basically already covered everything in this document, but I wanted to mention how extremely 'guilt trippy' the whole thing is. I struggled to come up with the perfect word for the situation, and I am open to hearing other peoples opinion, but as I have mentioned none of these things Tommy has been accused of were done with malicious intent, and some I believe don't even need addressed at all.

Are extremely emotional words for a 17-year-old boy to hear on his birthday, for stuff that I believe has been taken out of context and blown out of proportion.

I really feel bad for him, because such a large proportion of twitter (which ofc is the loudest side of the fanbase) is angry at him and is demanding (as the document says) ''either a stream or twitter thread/twitlonger to addressing this' and 'a long and serious apology instead of a short statement pre-stream'.

We all know how twitter works, and unless his apology is perfect (which to me means apologising for stuff that he should't have to, as explained in the thread), twitter will continue with this weird hyper focus on everything he does, and it's not going to end well.

Twitter's mentality of 'putting everything this person has done that could ever be considered problematic' into one neat little thread is so unhelpful and counter intuitive. I got overwhelmed reading some of the stuff people were saying about him, I can't imagine how he feels.

I feel like I have more to say but at risk of writing an essay longer than my actual work I have to do, I'm going to end here.
