PIGLIN BRAIDS

some of my personal lore/ideas for piglins!

hair is incredibly important in piglin culture, and you essentially display your life and who you are and your connections to others through your braids and jewelry

some more details/thoughts under the cut:

about a decade after philza and techno became friends, philza and techno were stuck in the nether when philza was injured (source of his bad leg) and they had to get help from a local bastion. they ended up befriending people and stayed there for about 150-200 years before they finally left, but every few hundred years they go back to spend a few decades there. they also go back specifically whenever philza and trixtin want to have children.

techno has 2 studs in his ear that philza doesn't--they're actually the earrings of his OLD/first sounder which doesn't exist anymore.

a lot of occupations are lumped together--philza's braid specifically means "builder", which refers to architects, artists, smiths, sculptors, and other professions of the same speed.

god/worship braids are meant to be knotted into your hair and stay there until your hair grows out and you have to redo the beads. each commonly recognized god has their own bead patterns, though eut'oob (i yoinked the name from a fic and i dont remember which one aaa if anyone in the notes remembers ill credit it) is a surface god and techno made up his own braid pattern for him because he isnt worshipped in the nether.

piglins have matesprit, moirail, and kismesis jewelry >:] iykyk. emduo are moirails cant change my mind. (techno had kismesis chains/jewelry for squid but that was a long time ago--squid died of old age)

word braiders are a highly valued part of piglin society. the reason it's a piercing and not a braid is because you have to be gifted a nose ring and be approved to get a piercing by another master word braider to show that you're qualified to call yourself one. you can't just put in a braid and call it a day.

wilbur grew up in a bastion till he was like 14/15 but he ended up chopping all of his hair off when he was a teen. techno is the one who gave him his nose ring when he was 17.

Thankfully they wont be hunted by krill following that event- Oxem got them to a safe place and he knows that he should steer clear of krill territory in the future <XD

I LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE SHOW- BUT, if you are asking me about just Arnold and Helga, hmm...

Well Helga's my favorite out of the two of them. I really like her and I justify her quite a lot, which my be wrong of me but I feel like she really deserves a chance,,,,

To begin with I love that her character despite being the "love interest" (or in this case the "love uninterest") meaning she helps to they show's dynamic with the purpose of being in love with Arnold- the show still gives her enough screen time for her to develop outside that dynamic. I consider that to be super rich taking in account the story was developed during the 90s. She has episodes entirely to herself (Just like Arnold, Gerald, Phoebe and Harold) were she struggles with rejection from her male and female classmates, deals with the idea of being ugly, feels scared with the idea of being gone and not missed, fear of death, and all her family episodes!

During the first season Helga was SUPER MEAN- LIKE unnecessarily MEAN. But I excuse her cause she was more childish (And they were probably still developing her) As the series progresses you can understand from where her anger develops, and you can also witness her doing acts of true kindness (With no credit at all) out of her true admiration for Arnold.

Arnold truly teaches her and inspires her to be a better person, despite having to deal with an alcoholic mom and real jerk of a dad (not to mention Olga the perfect sister). Being a neglected kid, A NINE YEAR OLD KID. THE EPISODE WHERE HER MOM WORKS AND JUST KICKS HER OUT, THAT EPISODE MAKES ME CRY EVERY TIME.

Helga is really mean, evil and careless. She really is, but who wouldn't be in such situation. She could either spend her days as a sad kid- but she chooses to fight it with angerness (Although sometimes we can see her sad with certain situations). And although her fixiation is bordering to a sick person (HAJAHS) she directs it into a good light. Fixiating on Arnold cause he's a good kid. He's kind, nice, helpful, etc. When Helga hurts someone, Her OWN brain tells her is wrong but in the shape of Arnold- someone who she deeply loves and hates to dissapoint and ends up doing the right thing.

IT'S STILL HELGA THE ONE WHO CHoOSES TO DO GOOD THO- Arnold it's only a great visual help.

DID YOU SEE HER ON THE POTION OF LOVE EPISODE- SHE LOOKED SO EMPTY WITHOUT ARNOLD. WITHOUT ARNOLD SHE CAN ONLY THINK ABOUT HER PROBLEMS- OR WHAT SHE DID TO AVOID THAT; NOT THINK ON ANYTHING AT ALL. AN EMPTY CHILD.

Thinking about a tanjiro x reader fanfic idea when I was listening to “Romance” by YOASABI. Maybe its just me but I really love the idea of communicating to the past like that shits got me so hyped and stuff.

So heres the idea :

- The reader lives in the modern world of japan and they are moving into a their great grandma’s old house after their apartment one got burned down for some unknown reason. Their new place is a nice, just ignore the fact that its in the countryside but thats ok the reader can make a living in this small town (im imagining a house like “the wolf children” if u watched the movie then its GREAT AAA). One thing that stands out in the place is a red painted mailbox. ‘Weird? Whats this doing here?’ They open the mailbox and then….

-Meanwhile we shift our focus to Tanjiro Kamado, who is training his best to train for the final selection. He wishes to join the demon corps in order to fight demons along with finding who killed his family and turned his sister into a demon. Its not easy, you know, training in the mountains by a guy who always wheres a mask. Not to mention his random encounters with a pink hair boy with a fox mask- yeah the world is not easy on Tanjiro. That is until one day, he found somethting strange. While wandering the mountain, he found a red painted mailbox. He was sure it wasn’t here before, he crosses this path everyday! In moment of curiousity, Tanjiro went to open it and…

so he brings it inside at the end of the day and shows it off to all the other ghouls, proudly strutting around the den with the net in his mouth and a smile on his face. then Copia pops by to check in on the ghouls and as soon as he hears the door open, Dew sprints towards it and stares at Copia with expectant eyes. the poor guy still doesnt quite understand the whole regression thing but when Rain steps in and is like "Dew's kitty and he wants to show you the apple he picked today" he remembers and is immediately like "oh that is such a beautiful apple, piccolo gattino" (pls tell me if that italian is wrong btw) and Dew starts chattering up a storm. he bumps his horns against his shoulder and rubs his cheek against him, purring so loudly, just so excited that Copia likes it.

he ends up falling asleep with it and the next day Mountain asks if he could add it to the crumble he's making with some of the apples they picked the day before. Dew lets him because "whatever its just an apple" and carries on with his day like normal. but as the crumble is being dished out after dinner he gets really sad. how is he going to know if he's eating his apple or not? he's starting to feel genuinely upset over this until Mountain places a seperate mini crumble in front of him and tells him that his apple was used to make that one and that it has more of the crumble on top because he knows he likes it more than the actual fruit part. Dew sits there and stares at it for a moment, not making any move to eat it even as Mountain dishes out his own crumble and sits back down. and even as Dew does start eating it, he's slow and he takes his time, not immediately inhaling it like he does with most food (an old habit from being a runt in the pit). Mountain's scared that he didn't enjoy it, or that the gesture was too much, until Dew stays behind after dinner anf gives him the biggest hug he can, whispering a small "thank you" into his chest.

Sanon back again, I have written 15kish words for Mihawk X Sora and I'm killing my friend with this too. I'm sorry.

You have to remember Zoro bathes canonically once a week, him and Luffy both, they reek. Mihawk absolutely hoses him down like a dog while Sora takes photos. It's necessary

Zoro also doesn't tell the other hats about Sora, he tries to talk to Sanji about her but Sanji has removed himself so far from the idea of claiming to be their son for everyone's safety that he shuts down every conversation. It's not something he wants to hide but if it gets out to the wrong people it's going to cause major issues. To him Mihawk Sanji is dead the way Vinsmoke Sanji is just because it's safe.

When Sanji's Alive poster comes out Mihawk and Sora rightfully freak out because that doesn't bode well. And when the Vinsmoke Sanji poster comes out, Sora is fuming like a woman on a war path. Mihawk has never been so turned on in his life. And after Wano and Egg Punk the Hats team up with the guild to take down Teach. It's been almost three years since Sanji has seen his parents and his poster says "Vinsmoke"? Boy is terrified he let his parents down.

Of course their arrival at Kari Baria is uneventful, Luffy, Zoro and Nami probably get sucked into meetings and Sanji is probably trying to use up ingredients going bad so he doesn't make it off ship until dinner where Sora is standing next to Luffy and Zoro, looking at him expectantly so he walks over and she cradles his face and he goes "Hi Mama." And yep, they're hugging and crying. Mihawk wanders over eventually and is like "a billion isn't bad but you can do better, fight me." That's how Sora and Mihawk learn to fly and set himself on fire because it's not like Mihawk is going to give him a lot warning, just enough.

Sora immediately adopts the rest of the hats while they watch the fight. She especially loves Luffy, Chopper and Nami, cuz who doesn't. She is seen carrying Chopper a lot, Zoro is getting jealous to the point he threatens to carry Sanji. They are both seen walking and chatting and carrying what is basically the others child. Nami's blackmail folder has increased triple.

Consider: not only does Mihawk hose him like a dog, but he also acts like a dog. He'll try and bite the water, maybe even growl. Mihawk puts the tream to shoot upwords and he jumps to catch the water.

Sanji being paranoid enough to not wanting to mention Mihawk is so canon to me :'(... but I love the motherly anger at seeing the name on the poster. She's a caring and protective mother, how dare they put that name, she feels as if they're giving the credit to someone else.

Omg reunion would be so sweet. I can see her petting Chopper and him going "It's not like I like being pet by you, you big dummy, don't think you can just flatter me like that" and then immediate after that laying in her lap again like a clingy cat.

someday I gotta write a piece on techno-orientalism aka cyberpunk aesthetics. because every time without fail if some AAA or equivalent media wants to depict an incidentally neon-lit capitalistic hellscape future, it ALWAYS comes with the racism. it ALWAYS comes with VAs railroaded into only doing awkward "non-native speaker" accents (and if said VAs are asian, they are immigrants who learned english young enough to have a more "natural" accent, so the accent they're made to do is even more awkward and inauthentic). ALWAYS the dialogue is written by people who have no idea what it's like to be an immigrant or non-native speaker, never incorporating any loanwords they might have picked up from their parents speaking a different language. never any pidgin grammar, never any spoken sense of identity. always a pale-skinned fetish doll from the setting's equivalents to tokyo, HK and coastal south china, MAYBE seoul or singapore. always a person who just speaks their ancestral language like it's nothing, seasons their dialogue with full sentences of shoehorned, surface-level buddhist phrases or whatever, to immediately be translated for the exotica factor. never a hint of any asian directors in the VA booth, in the writer's room, in concept art or in any place other than tiny footnotes in the credits roll. never any asians brought on to meaningfully incorporate asian cultures, practices, and people into the world and story.

always an asian name that's easily pronouncable to midwestern white teenage boys who have never seen an asian person face-to-face, names too common and generic to feel meaningful to the character and-or slapdash haphazardries that are conspicuously incongruent with asian naming traditions. always a culture just assimilated enough to not be "too weird" yet still unassimilated enough to be the exotic erotic. always a culture that's implicitly, inherently erotic, never just one of many sorts of people who just happen to exist.

I've actually been thinking a lot about Louis and his story lately! Though, since drawing is rather taxing on me atm I haven't gotten around to making him a character study post.. Like I did for Cuttlefish.. BUT!! I have still made some story bits for him anyways! :DD 👇👇

I had this idea that he used to be an ordinary flavored cookie of some kind. And he used to live on land as this washed up fisherman that was really down on his luck.. he had lost his job, his home, his arm.. he had no friends.. no family.. nothing. He was really lost and alone..

Its around that time he was somehow welcomed aboard Seafoam's ship. It was just Seafoam, Octo and Ellie at the time. Louis found great comfort and security with this crew. He had never felt more welcome and wanted in his life.. This environment started to break down Louis' anxieties and depression overtime. Slowly turning him into the more jolly and boisterous Louis the crew knows him as today.

But things would take a seemingly bad turn when a curse befell Louis. Turning him into this half cookie, half crab beast. Louis' body had changed significantly, the biggest change being his huge crab arm. Now, most cookies would consider this ghastly new form to be what its intended to be. A curse.. But Louis.. actually didn't mind the changes. In fact, he liked his new body. Quite a lot! And though his new crab arm did cause him quite a bit of aches and pains.. and also took away his ability to swim.. he honestly considered it an upgrade!

Where before he had a missing arm and was completely useless in combat.. now he had this huge intimidating claw in its place! With his new found strength and power, he was a force to be reckoned with! Not only that, but he didn't see his new body as ugly, he thought he looked AWESOME! So he also got a major confidence boost too!

In present day, Louis is a confident, sociable, and all around happy person. And he gives all the credit to Seafoam and his crew for his new found zest for life! :}} ✨🦀💖✨

Anyways-- thank you for taking interest in Louis! :DD rn drawing is rather challenging for me, but I hope to draw him again someday soon! Maybe I can go back and make him his own character study post like I wanted to! 👀👀

As for that Undyne and Papyrus post.. The story behind it is, that Papyrus is from a different timeline. And in his original timeline.. Undyne is dead.. Now, this other Undyne knows that her Papyrus, the "real" Papyrus, is somewhere else in the underground. So this Papyrus is an imposter. She questions this imposter. "Who are you, and why do you look like Papyrus?" She waits for this imposter to answer.. But Papyrus has no words.. since his Undyne died, he hasn't heard her voice in a very long time... he's too shocked to speak..

I DO have a YouTube channel, and I was intending to make animations for it... but I lost my drive. Animations get stolen A LOT. And Animations take a ton of time to make. I was discouraged.. why would I spend so much time on something, if its more likely to be stolen?

Though I have been thinking about making sketch animatic memes... maybe once my health improves I could try to make one-

As for Ludwig and Morton, unfortunately they don't have a lot of story built yet.. but I'm working on it! <:D

Ludwig is intended to be the eldest sibling, and heir to the throne. He's the "Prince of the Koopas". That post shows Ludwig seeming nervous.. and unsure. I'm experimenting with Ludwig taking his role as heir very seriously.. but its stressful. He feels like he's under a lot of pressure and has a loooot of responsibility to look forward to..

Though I'm kind'a going back on that a bit. The canon Ludwig seems pompous and a bit arrogant. Maybe I should keep some of that but in a positive way? I imagine that Bowser wouldn't force Ludwig to do this if he didn't want to. And I imagine that Kamek would have done very well to prepare Ludwig for his future kingly-hood.

What I mean by this is. I think a more.. confident, and level headed version of Ludwig would be appropriate. Rather than a pompous snob or a nervous wreck. He could be a young prince with a lot of wit and discipline. A price that is bound to make a fine king. 👑

For Morton I'm afraid there's even less story built for him 😭💔💔 Right now the main thing I'm experimenting with is Morton having some form of melanism. (Its a mutation where animals are born with excess pigment in their skin. Making their fur/hair/skin very dark/black when it otherwise would not have been.)

I could experiment with Morton not liking this aspect of himself..? Maybe it makes him feel out of place or insecure..? Though I doubt any of the individuals around him would have judged him or treated him differently at all for it.. even his siblings.

Well, I'm thinking that even if he is close to Bowser in size, Bowser's got him beat by his fire breathing ability XDD And King/Big Koopa's overall could just be a tougher species-

As for the Super Stars, they have about the same status as the 1-Up Mushrooms. They are this extremely rare Power up that seems to only show up when its needed.

I've been experimenting with the toad people worshiping 1-Ups and the Delfino people worshiping Super Stars. These bizarre and wonderous powerups that are strongly tied to the prophecy and what not. They're also related to how Peach and Daisy became royalty..

Its a lot of complicated word spaghetti atm but the point I'm getting at- is that there is definitely more than one! And they are so powerful and so.. seemingly sentient, that they are seen as almost.. like.. these holy beings that bring about future events.

I haven't rambled about all that biz yet becuase I cant find proper words to figure out what I'm even thinking <XD Gonna need some more time on that one!--

And yes yes yes! The Commander is still around, and AWWW!! Is he really?? :DD That's so sweet! Thank you so much!! :}} I haven't thought much about what role he's played in raising the Koopalings, though I really should. While he isn't there to actually help raise them, he's always been around as they've grown up. Whether it be following Kamek around or doing some kind of work around the palace.

When it comes to Bowser returning injured.. I wonder. part of me thinks that he wouldn't return right away, so maybe his injury wasn't seen by the Commander. But the news of his defeat would certainly be bone chilling. Commander would be more tense around the palace. And probably extends his night watches a bit longer in an attempt to better protect the Koopalings..

On the last note, Yes! I do plan to redesign him once again XD or at least update him a little- Though drawing is very challenging for me atm.. so that'll have to wait a while!.. <XDD

As for your questions! <XD --I've been thinking more about Tuna's character over the past few days and this got me thinking even more! :D

I imagined that when Tuna started out he was a real brat. Not super great to be around. He had some bottled up stuff for sure and was real rebellious and resistant to authority figures. Nobody was really willing to deal with his crap and always pushed back, which just made him more bratty.. for a while Seafoam wasn't sure what he was gonna do with this kid..

But then he reached some kind of middle ground with Ellie.

I have several ideas in mind for how this could go.. but I'll ramble about this one first- XDD

Ellie has thick skin and could tolerate the snarky remarks he made. She also didn't push back, even through she very easily could have. She knows that this kid has some serious inner battles and he doesn't need her snapping back at him.

And like some of the things you mentioned, it started out with Tuna just bumming around in the kitchen. Since Ellie could tolerate him she never kicked him out. Making the kitchen kind'a like a space where he could.. "get away" from the rest of the crew, in a sense..

Ellie was the first person to crack that outer shell of his. Providing him a consistent source of comfort, with her food and the quiet kitchen.

After some time the snarky remarks or comments would slow down.. over time he just resorts to standing around and watching her cook. Getting closer and closer.. eventually asking questions. "What are ye makin..?" "..what's that do..?" She would always reply genuinely. And as gently as she could considering her usual monotone voice <XD

Eventually it turns into "..where'd you learn to cook?" "..how long have you known Octo..?" "..do you trust Cuttlefish.?"

She could say kind things about the crew which gets Tuna to lighten up around them. "Octo seems mean but actually he's just blah blah blah..." Next time he interacts with Octo he's less tense. "Seafoam is genuinely as kind as he seems. If ye can trust anyone, its him." He starts listening to Seafoam more..

These interactions would continue to develop more and more. I don't know if he'd ever be able to help her cook anything- considering how strict she is about it <XDD But although I have several more ideas for this, I like this idea of Ellie really softening him up over time..

I have an epic tale that is my day yesterday. I think it would be good for me to write it all out as if someone was going to read it, but in a place where it will be lost as soon as I post it. Tumblr is the perfect black hole for this space shot.

I should provide context, but it would only make the story longer and I just don’t have the energy. Okay, maybe a little.

Friday my dad, who is 78, said he’d gotten a voicemail, his oncologist wanted to see him for a checkup at noon Monday. Bad weather was in the forecast for Monday morning, but weathermen are notoriously unreliable so I just said something about if it’s icy you’ll have to reschedule. He was like, of course, and we went about our lives.

Today is Monday and I woke up to a world covered in a good quarter inch of ice. Nothing awful, we didn’t lose power, just enough to make the dog not want to go outside to do her business. (I made her go outside against her wishes, for which I was glared at while she crouched and pooped, but it wasn’t in the house.)

It crossed my mind to check in with dad, but no one would go out in this weather, right? Yeah, you see where this is going.

I got a text around noon. Dad had skidded into a ditch and couldn’t get the car out. Help. I ground my teeth a little, but managed to refrain from texting questions about what the hell he was doing in his car on a day like today. That wouldn’t be helpful, especially after he said it had really scared him. So okay. I glance out the window and my little Fiat is encased in ice. Dad never really fit comfortably in it anyhow. I call my oldest son who just moved to town from Washington state after mustering out of the Navy. He says his 4WD truck is in the garage and he’ll come pick me up.

Oh, I forgot. I have to go because I’m the one with the AAA (thanks @l82theparty) and I’ll need to show them my card before they’ll pull him out of the ditch.

Hey, it would be smart to call AAA now and get the ball rolling since there are probably a shit ton of people in ditches today. So I call dad for a more specific location so I can tell AAA where to find him. He says his GPS just keeps giving him the street number, which is one I don’t recognize. Can he give me a cross street? No. Can he give me a landmark? The route between his house and the doctor’s office is pretty easy to recognize, we’ve done it a thousand times for two rounds of chemo and one round of radiation. No landmarks, just this street number. Okay, we’ll try sharing his location. Nope, that is way too technologically advanced. On the up side it killed time until my son showed up in his truck to collect me.

Some more questions with dad on the phone and we’re still no closer to understanding where he is. So I plug the street into the map just to get an idea and that’s when things begin to go sideways. This street shows up outside of town. Way outside of town. It’s between towns so that I can’t even tell you which little town it’s close to because it’s really just not. We follow the bouncing ball down the highway, past the casino on the outskirts of town, past the toll road, out to a place we’ve never heard of. It took us an hour to get this far, for the record.

I’ve decided my GPS has screwed us so I call dad again, confident we’re going to have to go back into town and comb the streets between the cancer center and dad’s house. But I ask him about the landscape he’s in, and he’s confirming everything sounds right. We drive up and down scary hills covered in ice, then some twisting roads also covered in ice, and Dad is on the phone saying that totally sounds right. To my son’s credit the truck only slipped on these roads a couple of times while he gritted his teeth and complained that he should have put something heavy in the truck bed.

We pass a dead end sign, and Dad doesn’t remember seeing one of those. I’m starting to believe we’re fucked. We pass another sign that says no outlet, and dad doesn’t remember it. My son gives me a look, and I shrug. Then we hit a patch of road that is a skating rink and the kid manages to slide himself onto a patch of grass as we both stare at my father’s car at the bottom of this icy hill in the middle of fucking nowhere. At least we found him, right?

Son and I slip and slide on foot down to the car where dad is fine, he’s got the heater on and the radio, just feels foolish and can’t get out because there’s a tree against the driver’s door. Because, dear reader who has made it this far, he’s not in a ditch. He skidded onto the side of the road where the land drops off into a ravine that was maybe 50 feet deep? I can’t say for sure because when I looked at his front tire and how close it was to the drop off it looked more like the Grand Canyon to me.

Okay dad, we’re not going to touch the car. You’re safe, don’t jostle yourself too much, I’m calling 911 for the first time in my life.

(Why is he in BFE? Oh, sorry, that’s Butt Fucking Egypt if you’re from around here. And I still don’t have an answer for that one.)

Meanwhile I look at the icy incline behind us and tell my son no tow truck is ever going to make it down that hill. A nice young Wagoner County Sheriff’s deputy shows up and his answer is to call a wrecker. I mention that no tow truck is ever going to make it down that hill and he gives me a look so I carefully inched my way back up the hill to sit in my son’s truck and wait.

About 20 minutes later it started to rain. About 30 minutes later it’s raining hard. Still raining hard another half hour or so later when the tow truck arrives on the scene.

Would you believe the tow truck driver said his boss won’t let him take his truck down that hill? He says he wouldn’t leave a person down there though (damn human of him) and the deputy, my son, and the tow truck driver trek down to Save Dad.

I watch from the top of the hill because they don’t need any women down there spouting truths and whatnot and getting in the way. I watch them pop the trunk and get my dad’s walker out. I’m standing in the pouring (so cold) rain watching through a layer of fog that has developed as shadowy figures hunch around the two open doors on the passenger side, I’m assuming they’re figuring out how to get dad out of the car on this side.

I can’t see, so I move over and step into a puddle of ice cold water. It’s not really integral to the story, except I was expecting to be pulling dad out of a suburban drainage ditch so I wore the wrong shoes. My nylon running shoes and my wonderful thick warm socks sucked up that icy water and held it like a lover. It was like the opposite of napalm; instead of fire sticking to my body it was ice cold water.

Meanwhile the boys have come far enough up the hill I can see they have dad sitting on the little bench on the walker and my son is walking backwards pulling it while the deputy and tow truck driver are each pushing a handlebar. My son falls down once, then gets up again. I’m not sure how, but they all manage to get back up that hill and get dad in the truck. It doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things but now I know exactly how much cold rain is required to saturate my rain resistant coat.

The story ends with my son managing to get the truck turned around and safely off of the ice sheet it was resting on. We’re all home and dry and safe and warm. My girl cooked me dinner and made me a hot toddy and snuggled me in warm clothes and an electric blanket. Dad’s car has probably depleted its battery by now because we were all three sitting in the truck when my son asked if he should try to walk back down and turn off the hazard lights. We left it.
