Really glad that the Duffs are supporting the strike cause it might actually help negotiations move along quicker and in better support of the writers. Netflix execs must be shaking sweating crying now that their big cash cow is delaying their production.

Friendly Sex - Chapter 5 - The Cafeteria
I have flashed my creative licence in this chapter and borrowed some dialogue from The Duffers Brothers, because let's face it we all fell in love with Eddie in the cafeteria and the woods scene, but I have slightly re-jigged the context. We also have a flashback. Here be smut and feelings.
Chapter warnings: (MDI) 18+ only, vaginal fingering, overstimulation, p in v sex, dirty talk, swearing, consensual use of the word slut again, mentions of drugs, spit as lube, slight pain during sex? I am terrible at warnings
"It's a promise "
Eddie's words were ringing in your ears as you selected your outfit for the day. Not that you were picking an outfit to catch Eddie's attention, just like you hadn't intentionally put on a lacy baby pink underwear set. It just so happened to compliment your outfit, an off the shoulder baby pink sweater, paired with a simple black skater skirt and your converse, cute and practical that’s all.
"Sprout, hurry up and get your butt in the car or you're going to be late!" Your Dad calls up as you finish applying your lipstick, it was a little beat up from Eddie's antics but still usable.
Taking the stairs two at a time, you grab your purse, jumping into the idling car on the drive.
"Little overdressed for school aren't you kiddo?" Your dad asks after a couple of minutes
"Uh - they're taking some random pictures of the seniors for the year book today." You reply absentmindedly, flicking down the vanity mirror rooting through your bag for your compact blush.
"Sprout, I may be old but I'm not dumb, are you dating?"
You pause in your search, you hated lying to your dad, but if you were being technical about it you weren't dating. Having casual sex with the local outcast, sure, but definitely not dating.
"No Dad," you laugh uncomfortably, "I'm not dating, there's no one I want to date, well apart from Steve." You add, checking over your appearance in the mirror one last time as he pulls into the school parking lot.
"Ok kiddo, I believe you." His tone said otherwise. "Am I picking you up after school?" He asks as you climb out.
You go to respond but the air is suddenly filled with the sound of heavy metal and the screech of tires, Eddie, you stare as he spins the van recklessly into a parking spot earning the glare of some jocks nearby.
'I do whatever I want to, to ya
I'll nail your ass to the sheets
A pelvic thrust and the sweat starts to sting ya
I fuck like a beast!'
"Sprout, you ever bring a boy like that home, I'll send you to live with your mother permanently." Your dad says watching Eddie in clear disapproval.
"Uh huh." You mutter weakly, holding onto the car door tightly as Eddie kills the engine.
"So am I picking you up?" He asks again.
"No- uh, I'm going to watch Rob's practice." You reply distractedly.
Eddie spots you from the other side of the car park, a shit eating grin spreading across his face sending a shock of arousal through your body. "Bye Dad." You say quickly, shutting the door and heading off in the opposite direction.
"Hey dingus!" Robin hails you from Steve's car which has just pulled up behind you, Dustin and Mike squeezing out from the back; Hellfire Club t-shirts emblazoning their chests like Eddie's little minions. How they all managed to guilt trip Steve into giving them a lift everyday you'd never know.
He raises his hand in greeting, a smile on his handsome face, you wave back your heart doing its usual sputter.
‘It’s going to be a long day.’ You think to yourself.
The cafeteria was a hive of activity and noise, Robin talking at the speed of a freight train as you grabbed your food trays, barely allowing you time to add in sympathetic noises.
“I mean, am I really that invisible?” She asks you desperately.
“Of course you’re not Rob, maybe she was just focusing on the class.” You offer supportively, heading to your usual lunch table.
“Focusing on the back of Dan’s head more like.” She grumbles, taking a vicious bite out of her slice of pizza.
“Didn’t you say she laughed at your David Bowie joke last week?” You ask, remembering how excited she had been.
“She was just being polite.” Robin mutters miserably you can tell it’s going to be an all-lunchtime funk, so you busy yourself with picking the orange segments out of your fruit cocktail.
“ …sodomy, suicide and even murder!” You glance up quickly hearing Eddie’s voice ring out from a couple of benches over, the usual gang laughing at his antics as he climbs up onto the table, talking loudly so it carries across the cafeteria.
“-but - as long as you’re into band, or science, or paaarties -” He sneers surveying the various cliques, before rounding on the jocks, “-or a game where you toss balls into laundry baskets!” He yells, making the whole cafeteria fall silent.
You see Jason Carver stand up, looking pissed. “You want something freak?!”
Eddie sticks his tongue out, making devil horns with his fingers, and you can’t hold back the laugh that escapes you, it draws his attention and he winks quickly; shaking your head with a smile as he jumps back down carrying on with his rant the words drowned out by the return of the usual noise.
“Since when did you find Eddie Munson so funny?” Robin asks you suddenly, you realise with a jolt that she’s been watching the entire exchange, you shrug nonchalantly.
“I don’t, it’s just, he's got a point.” You mutter, shoving some fruit into your mouth.
“Mm, fair,” she agrees with a nod “,but not about band though.” she adds quickly, which launches her into another frenetic monologue about band practice tonight and whether she can get Vicki to laugh properly this time.
You zone out completely, eyes on Eddie, who is staring intensely at you as he chews on a pretzel, you raise an eyebrow at him in a silent challenge, watching a grin creep across his face. Biting your lip coyly, you pick up a piece of syrupy fruit with your fingers, tongue laving at the sticky juice running down your hand; it’s a dangerous move so close to Robin, but it’s worth it to see his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallows hard, you smirk in satisfaction popping the grape into your mouth.
“I’m gonna get rid of this.” You say to Robin, picking up your tray.
“Yeah, I should get going, I've got “Mrs. Clickity Clackity next period, why didn’t I drop history when Tammy left?” She asks with a groan, handing you her own tray, swinging her bag over her shoulder.
“Because you’re a glutton for punishment. I’ll see you at 5.” You call as she walks away.
The tray station is just behind Eddie, you can feel his eyes tracking you as you move across the floor, swinging your hips a little, making sure to pick a low shelf knowing that it would give him a flash of your panties as you bent over. Feeling accomplished with all your teasing, you turn to leave only to walk straight into his chest.
“Oh! I’m sorry sweetheart, please excuse me, I didn’t see you there!” He chimes innocently, placing a hand on your hip to steady you.
“Whatever, Munson.” You say coldly, playing up to your supposed indifference towards him, you feel him quickly slip something into the waistband of your skirt with a pointed look, and then the exchange is over. You push past him, adding  “Just watch where you’re going next time, jerkoff.” for good measure, as he bows out of your way.
You wait until you’re back at your locker to read the tiny scrap of paper.
‘16:15, the picnic bench. E.’
The sky was overcast by the end of 8th period, a slight chill in the air making you regret wearing a skirt as you picked your way through the overgrown path to the picnic bench. Funnily enough it was at the bench where you and Eddie had your first proper encounter nearly 3 years ago, you were a clueless frightened sophomore looking for some weed to ease your panic attacks, making covert enquiries the same name had come up each time; Eddie Munson.
You had approached him tentatively in the corridor unsure how to go about it, tapping him gingerly on the shoulder as he shoved pristine looking textbooks into his locker, he jumped, turning quickly like he was about to punch you.
“Jeeeesus, where the hell did you sneak up from sweetheart?” He gasped, unclenching his fists.
“I-i’m sorry!” You squeaked, taking a step backwards.
“Hey, you’re fine, it was my fault.” He said soothingly.
This was a bad idea, you probably didn’t have enough money, or he’d just laugh at you, or worst of all you’d get caught by your dad.
“You ok?” He asked, reaching a hand out, but dropping it as you flinched slightly “You need something?” He pressed, emphasis on the word ‘something’.
You nodded sheepishly, eyes darting at the passing people in the hall.
“You know where the old picnic bench is in the woods behind the gymnasium?” He asked quietly.
You shook your head, biting your lip, cheeks burning. He sighed pulling a sheet of paper from his locker sketching a crude map for you to follow. “Meet me here after last period, we’ll get you sorted out.”
Eddie was sitting at the bench when you arrived, a battered tin box open on the table.
“Take a seat.” He offered, you perched lightly, legs jiggling with nervous energy. “There’s nothing to worry about, okay? No one ever comes out here. We’re safe, I promise” He said with a reassuring smile.
“Okay.” You replied quietly, watching with interest as he pulled out various baggies.
“So I'll do you a half ounce for, uh… 20. What do you say? It’s plenty of bang for your buck, should last a while.”
“A half?” You asked, feeling stupid, thinking you’d just be buying some pre-rolled joints.
“Wow, you really are green around the gills huh sweetheart?” He said with a small laugh, but it wasn’t unkind. “Look you can tell me to mind my own business, but, what do you need this stuff for anyways? I mean it’s not meth but a sweet little thing like you, you sure you wanna do drugs? He asked seriously.
“I - i, uh get these panic attacks, thought it might help.” You mumbled pulling on your sleeves nervously.
He nodded in understanding, expression softening.
“Ok well, seeing as it’s your first time and you’ve opted to score from me, an excellent choice by the way,” He said with a grin. “I'll do you a deal; twenty-five percent discount for the half, that’s fifteen bucks.”
“Yes, thank you.” You muttered with a small smile back. “If I give you $25, would you teach me how to make them - please?”
You had spent the next hour with Eddie, watching intently as he rolled joint after joint, telling you about the different kinds of weed, the best papers. Giving you a standing ovation when successfully made your own, even if it was overly fat and wonky, staying with you as you took your first hit with trembling fingers, rubbing your back when you choked on the unfamiliar smoke. You had left the clearing that day promising him to go slow on the supply, and to come back to him when you needed a restock, he would only take $15.
Unlike your first meeting, Eddie wasn’t already there waiting for you. You sit on the tabletop, legs swinging idly, leaning back on your elbows to stare up at the birds flitting to and fro.
You hear the snap of a branch and suddenly Eddie’s face is hovering above your own, standing between your legs, making you squeak in fright.
“Eddie, you fucking psycho!” You shout, trying to punch him but he grabs both your arms hauling you up against him.
“Ah, ah, play nicely sweetheart.” He coos, nipping at your left ear lobe.
“That was a real dick move, you know that?” You grumble still trying to tug your arms out of his grasp.
“You should pay more attention to your surroundings princess, there could be anyone out here. “ He smirks devilishly, so you simply glower at him.
“Aw, now don’t look at me like that baby, especially after that stunt you pulled in the cafeteria.” He warns, mouth descending on your neck.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You breathe out shakily, trying to stop yourself from pressing forward to chase him, as he pulls away with a disbelieving look on his face.
“Really? That little show and tell you did with the fruit cocktail and the tray, you’re lucky I didn't fuck you there and then.”
You gasp sharply, hips bucking unconsciously at the thought.
“Such a little slut.” He laughs in awe, capturing your lips in a heated kiss, finally releasing your arms, you immediately tangle your hands in his hair, while he moves to grope at your ass.
“Jesus, I've been thinking about this all day.” He groans, dragging you closer to the edge of the table to grind his pelvis against yours, hissing as you leave a trail of bites along the straining column of his throat. He picks you up suddenly, your legs automatically wrapping around his middle.
“Ed’s I swear to God if you drop me.” You say threateningly, clinging tightly to his shoulders, but he simply sits on one side of the bench, back to the table with you straddling his lap.
“Oh shut up you little brat.” He taunts, pulling on your hair slightly in order to slam your mouth back to his, free hand kneading the flesh of your ass under your skirt; rings sure to leave bruises.
You can’t help but rock your hips, tongues clashing, hands pinching, nails scratching. He breaks apart from you to pull your sweater over your head, eyes sparkling in delight at your lace covered breasts.
“This is a very pretty bra, baby.” He murmurs, placing a few open mouthed kisses to the pushed up mounds, “I think it matches your panties?” He asks with a smile, you nod wordlessly, feeling his hand go back under your skirt, exploring fingers trailing over the delicate fabric. “Did you put this on for me princess?”
“Yes.” You whine quietly, as he slips the fabric to one side, the chill air making your pussy clench.
“Such a good girl.” He praises, swiping a thick finger through your wetness before slipping into you with ease, making you shift up against him, head buried in his neck. He’s almost cradling you as he works his finger into your soaked cunt, placing kisses anywhere he can reach, murmuring encouragement until you shiver in his arms.
“You cold?” He mumbles, forehead pressed to yours, you nod gently which turns into a whine of protest as his finger slips from your tight heat. Shifting about awkwardly, he slides his jacket off, before helping you into it using the collar to bring you back to his warm lips. “Gotta look after my girl.”
Your heart skips a beat, my girl, keening softly against his mouth, you unbuckle his belt finding he’s gone commando today, his cock hard in your fist as you pump him slowly but firmly, the tip glistening with pre-cum. He lets out breathy little moans at your touch, before pulling your hand away, hurriedly extracting a condom from his jeans pocket, you play with your clit as he rolls the condom on; both of you staring at the other pupils blown wide.
“C’mere sweetheart.” He pleads softly, holding his cock up so you can sink down, you let out a pained hiss, the stretch at this angle stings, your pussy not used to the intrusion so soon after the last time.
“Ed’s, i-it’s, ah!” You whimper, nails digging into his back, tears springing in your eyes.
“Slow down baby, it’s ok, I've got you, you’re safe.” He lifts you back up slightly, spitting into his palm spreading some over his cock, the rest he rubs into your cunt, thumb circling your clit as he lets you lower yourself back down at your own pace.
“Oh!” You hiccup, there’s still a stretch but his ministrations on your clit cause pleasurable little sparks that shoot up your spine.
“That’s it sweetheart, nice and slow.” He encourages, his free hand stroking up and down your back, you move with a bit more purpose pulling him in for a needy kiss, as you take his cock fully.
“Oh good girl, shit.” He pants, feeling you seated completely, his spread legs trembling underneath you as he tries to hold back from thrusting straight away.
“‘M’ok now.” You say quietly, starting to ease yourself up and down, the spit and your own arousal from Eddie’s movements on your swollen clit helping you to glide.
“You sure baby?” He asks.
“Yes, Eddie, please move.” You whisper, and his restraint snaps, hips moving up to meet yours, using his strength to lift you by the ass bringing you back down on heavy thrusts, your arms braced behind you on his thighs. It’s intense, your lips staying connected by a thin trail of saliva, foreheads pressed together, swallowing each other's moans.
“Sweetheart, i’m - fuck - i’m not gonna last.” He chokes out, squeezing his eyes shut tight, teeth clenched in concentration.
“It’s ok Ed’s.” You say, sucking on his neck with a dreamy sigh. “You can cum.”
"FUCK!" He slams his fist into the wood of the bench, and it's one of the hottest things you've ever seen, his hips pulsing upwards drawing out his orgasm. You move to get off of him but he holds you steady, cock still seated inside you, circling your clit with intent.
"Come on baby, I wanna get you there too." He growls, biting your bottom lip, your body wound too tightly, hanging off the proverbial cliff, hands braced on his chest. "Give into it princess, my sweet little thing." Your eyes snap to his in recognition, harking back to your first meeting, and it takes you by surprise, tipping you over the edge, back arching into his touch as you cum.
You allow yourself to be held, Eddie’s arms smoothing over your thighs and lower back, you press your head into his collarbone and feel his heart racing.
“That was something else.” He sighs, moving a strand of hair behind your ear.
You smile breathlessly, checking your watch. “Shit, I gotta go, Robin’s got practice and I said I’d watch.” You say regretfully.
He nods in understanding, holding your gaze, fingers still tracing over your thighs, before you can stop yourself you kiss him, it’s slow, delicate and filled with a significance you weren’t ready to discuss. You catch yourself, feeling like you’ve just stepped over some invisible line, you practically jump off of him, stripping his jacket off in haste and throwing it to him.
“I’ll call you later.” You shout, jogging out of the clearing, pulling your jumper back on as you go, leaving Eddie half dressed and utterly bemused.

"there's no evidence that tommy and carol bullied anyone" so publicly humiliating nancy by spray painting nancy the slut wheeler on the hawk sign was just what. because steve implied that was their idea and they did it. you don't just go from never bullying anyone to doing some real diabolical shit like that so. sure steve never bullied anyone but you're reaching trying to extend that to tommy especially. don't forget how easily he got chummy with the racist the following season and joined in gleefully bullying steve
I'm not excusing the graffiti, but I don't think spray painting the slut graffiti as revenge because they (wrongly) thought Nancy cheated on Steve makes it bullying lmao. Bullying is repeated and targeted. One instance is not bullying. I also think "diabolical" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Like what they did was cruel, but diabolical? Graffiti and spreading rumors is like the most typical "get revenge on your/your friend's shitty ex" thing you could do, they just did it in public instead of like the school bathroom. Public shaming for cheating is SUCH a common trope, like do you know how often I see that "WELCOME HOME CHEATER" meme? I'm not saying that makes it right, because it doesn't! But it also doesn't make them evil?
Like I never said that Tommy and Carol are nice lol. They're asshole teenagers! That's canon! Steve calls them out on that and breaks ties with them because of it! But being a dick teenager does not make you a bully, all teenagers are dicks lol.
I also think interpreting Tommy's scenes with Billy as that is in bad faith personally. Homeboy is in like two scenes with Billy - one where Tommy is clearly trying to make Steve jealous, and the other where he is making fun of Steve for his gf once again supposedly cheating on him. The gf that Steve dumped his friends for, after she supposedly cheated on him the first time.
And yeah Billy is racist but y'all are acting like? Everyone in the show should automatically know that? How? The racist shit Billy says on screen is mainly to Max, and later in the show where he actually attacks Lucas. There's a good chance that Steve didn't even realize that Billy's attack on the kids was racially motivated until after the fact.
Considering that Billy literally doesn't interact with anyone but his coworkers and Karen in s3, and the fact that Tommy does not actually seem to like violence that much or at least seems to have a limit! Considering how he reacted to the fight in s1 (going from "hell yeah a fight to oh fuck shit is serious"), I don't think Tommy stayed friends with Billy after season 2 lmao. Like idk I did not get the impression that Billy had any friends in s3.
You're accusing me of reaching but saying stuff like "no one goes from never bullying anyone to something that diabolical" isn't? My whole point has always been that he may be a dick, but there's nothing to show him being anything other than a stereotypical class clown type douchebag lol. The Party's fucking bullies threatened them at knife point. Billy bashes a plate over Steve's head and tries to run the kids off the fucking road with his car. The Angela storyline was so extreme that it was unrealistic and is almost an universally hated part of the season. Tommy makes some mean comments, gives Barb a wet willy, and then rubs it in his ex best friend's face that someone has taken his place and that his gf is cheating on him. Like, the graffiti was bad and Nancy should've probably slapped all three of them not just Steve, but it was a petty and misguided revenge scheme, not bullying.
I think if Tommy was intended to be an actual bully the way fandom pretends he is, we would've seen more of it on screen. If Tommy and Carol were so cruel to the whole school, Robin and Eddie would've said something about it? But they don't! The Duffers are SO blatant about how they go about things, I think if they were truly meant to be bullies, they would've been way more obvious about it lmao.
Like, think what you want! If you wanna headcanon them as being an actual bullies, that's your prerogative. But it's not actually canon.

A Glimpse of Us
Steve Harrington x Reader
Warnings: severe angst? Blood, tears, I can’t give too much away
Summary: when you’re trying to save the world, not everyone walks away unscathed
A/N: I would literally sacrifice myself for Steve Harrington, y’all do not understand. If the duffers kill my boy I will be raising hell.
Tumblr media
Steve didn’t want to be here.
Hell, if he was being honest he knew no one wanted to be here. It wasn’t exactly an event that people got excited over. If anything it was one that people dreaded.
He can sense Dustin shift on his feet besides him, every once and while giving him a slide glance as well. He knows Dustin wants to say something, try anything to comfort Steve—but the kid remains silent.
And internally he thanks him for it.
Robins here too. It’s the first time Steve sees her quiet for such a long period of time. He knows she’s trying to process too.
Everyone is.
Despite the fresh spring air and the bursts of color sprouting from the flower beds and tree branches, Steve feels like he’s drowning in a sea of black— but he doesn’t try to paddle or reach for the surface. He allows it to settle around him.
Usually he would play notice to the soft chatter of voices around him, but today he doesn’t. Instead he lets his brain block it all out.
The only thing Steve is focusing on is the large portrait set against the stand several feet away, the base of it overflowing with lilies and daisies and hydrangeas.
God was there a massive amount of hydrangeas.
Then again they always were your favorite.
As he stood there he could see you beaming back at him from the framed photograph, completely unaware that your life like so many of those before you, was drawing to a close.
Despite everything that had happened in the past four years, Steve thought he would be immune to being caught off guard and surprised. . . Yet here he was. It had been two weeks and yet he still couldn’t wrap his head and heart around the fact that you were gone and not coming back.
He would have to walk back into work Monday morning with Robin and act like everything was normal even thought it wasn’t. You wouldn’t be stocking the shelves from all the Sunday evening movie returns or stealing his milk duds. All you would be is a headline article and a picture in the Hawkins Post.
He takes a painful glance at the headstone a few feet away, only to move his eyes back to his shoes. Your life could never be marked by a gravestone, something so cold and immobile. Perhaps a tree with a wind-chime in the branches could do you more justice, or a simple song sung into the wind. What lied in the ground is only flesh and blood, and that was never what you were.
You were so much more than that.
You were sunsets and big smiles. You were rose colored sunglasses and hand written birthday cards. You were pressed Pennie’s and never remembering to set your alarm. You were warm summer nights and loud contagious laughter.
You were. . . You.
And Steve loved every bit, he was just to late to realize it. And when he did he was ready, he was so ready to tell you—
And then you slipped through his fingers like grains of sand.
And now he was here.
Watching as your casket was lowered into the ground The fact that he would forever be six feet apart from you settled heavy over him.
Six feet never felt so far until now.
Feeling a hand squeeze his shoulder, he lifts his head- eyes till stuck to the casket. “Hmm?”
“Dustin and I will meet you at the Y/L/Ns. Take your time though.” Robins voice was gentle and soft as she gave him one more squeeze and departed his side along with Dustin.
Sticking his hands into his suit pocket, he squeezed a fist around the piece of paper tucked inside- trying everything int his power to ground himself to reality before he slipped back into that nightmare of a memory.
*. *. *. *. *. *.
“You son of a bitch!” You yelled, giving Steve a firm shove as you inhaled deeply, slightly out of breath.
“Me?! You were the one that just went running headfirst into danger!”
“Only because you were in danger to begin with!” You jammed a finger into his chest. “Could you not make me worry for five damn minutes Harrington?”
If someone told you a week ago that you would be standing in the middle of some back road outside Hawkins in the middle of the night right after climbing out of a nasty ass hell gate you would have emmediatly nodded and gone and raided your parents liquor cabinet—-
Yet here you were, covered in dirt, blood, and god knows what else.
A few yards away lay the damn portal, glowing a henious red and smelling like literal sewage. Things had gone sideways on your return trip to the upside down, leaving you and Steve spectated from the rest of the group and running for your life as those stupid bats flooded across the landscape.
Luckily Dustin had figured out earlier that a portal opened up every time Vecna took another victim, which had you and Steve aiming for the one were Fred had died.
It was a whole other miracle that no one in Hawkins had stumbled across the gate that was smack dab in the middle of a road.
Taking in a shuttered breath, you stumbled slightly back. With the adreline in your body starting to wear off you were beginning to feel all the aches and pains of the last two hours.
Grabbing at your side you winced, god did that hurt.
Seeing the change expression, Steve’s face shifted. “Y/N?”
And then like a switch being flicked, your knees buckled and Steve was rushing forward to catch you before you slammed into the pavement.
“Y/N!”
“Must be more tired than I originally thought.” You breathed, allowing Steve to lower you gently to the ground, unaware that you had now soaked Steve’s hands in deep crimson, making his face fall all the more.
“Oh god.”
“What is it? What’s wrong?” Looking up at Steve you felt your own face fall and then you saw his eyes directed at his shaking palms, thick red blood coating his fingers from where he had caught you.
So maybe one of those bats had gotten you way worse than you originally thought.
The pain wasn’t the worst part though. No, it was the look of sheer panic on Steve’s face.
Steve. The boy you’d been friends with since first grade, who used to share his snacks with you at recess and ride bikes with you. The Boy who pulled pranks on you and would push you into his pool when you were kids.
The boy you fell in love with a few years back but never had the courage to tell.
“We Uh, shit- we gotta get you to a hospital. He breathed, running bloody hands through sweat drenched hair.
“Steve let’s think rationally here. My side is literally ripped open, the hospital is on the other side of town and we have no way of getting there.”
He was silent for a moment and then his eyes widened and he was scrambling across the pavement. Then there was the distinct hiss of static and Steve playing with the dials of the walk-in talkie the two of you had.
“Dustin?! Come in Dustin!” The panic was so heavy in Steve’s voice it made you slightly wince. You didn’t like seeing him like this.
Within another moment he was back at you side, peeking off his shirt as he tried to staunch the flow of blood coming from your abdomen. The walk-in crackled to life besides him.
“Steve?! Thank god, we thought we had lost you guys! What the hell happened?!” Dustins voice breaking through the heavy breathing coming from your friend.
“Dustin! I’ll fill you in later, but I need you to grab Max and get down here to Dawson Road as fast as you can?”
“What’s going o-“
“Nows not the time Henderson! I left my keys on Eddie’s counter, have Max drive-“
“Wait now you want Max to drive?”
“We don’t really have another choice! Just get your asses down here! We need help!” At this point Steve was practically screaming into the walkie, the pain in his voice only getting stronger.
“Copy that. We’re on our way.”
With a heavy sigh Steve tossed town the walkie yet again, before returning all his attention to you. With one hand pressed firmly against your abdomen and the other gripping your hand tightly, he tried to fight back the nausea stirring in his belly.
You looked so fragile in this moment, your eyelids drooping as you weakly held his hand. Your pulse growing weaker by the minute as he kept one of his fingers pressed to your wrist. Despite how dark it was outside he could still see the blood on both of your sets of hands. Real blood was nothing like movie blood, just as real death was nothing like movie death. There is no amount of horror that can prepare a person for seeing the life ebb from another, the hopelessness.
“Hey talk to me Y/N, you gotta stay awake.”
Humming a response you brought your eyes up to look at Steve, “how bout just a little nap?”
“Nope, nope-“ he shook his head, still trying to keep the fear from bubbling up. “Come on, stay with me.” Steve paused, trying to think of anything to keep you talking and awake. “Hey, tell me about one of your favorite memories.
“Memories?”
“Yeah, there’s gotta be one. You’ve lived a pretty exciting life.” He mused, giving your hand another squeeze as he moved to brush a stray hair away from your face.
You answer came quick, so quick in fact it caught Steve off guard. “Probably that time we sat in that empty parking lot of that gas station off I-20 and ate shitty gas station snacks.”
“Wait really? You could have gone with anything and you went with that?” He cracked a smile at you, fortunately getting a weak one in return.
“Yeah, cause that’s when I realized I had fallen in love with my best friend.” You voice was so quiet but the words so loud.
It was enough to stun Steve Harrington into complete silence.
“Wait, you—“
“Since junior year.”
“Why- why didn’t you ever say anything?” He breathed, trying to ignore the war raging between the fear of losing you and the euphoria you saying you loved him.
“Monsters we’re taking over Hawkins, and I didn’t want to ruin our friendship.”
“Oh well that’s kind of lame.” He tried joking, only to fail miserably due to how you shot him a glare.
“What about you?”
“What about me?”
“What’s your favorite memory?”
Falling silent yet again, Steve squeezed your hand even tighter. “The night after Starcourt,” he slowly admitted, “when we sat in your living room and ate that pint of cherry jubilee. Despite everything that had just happened you still managed to find a way to smile and crack jokes. That’s when I realized I had loved you way longer than I thought I had.” He paused, glancing down at his hand in embrassment. “Sorry, that shit was cheesy as hell.”
“I’ve known you since first grade. I’m used to it.” You mused weakly, finding it increasingly harder to keep your eyes open.
You knew they weren’t gonna get here in time. But you stayed silent.
Letting out another rattled breath, you casted your eyes towards the night sky. It least you were here and not in the Upside Down. Here there were stars, a whole canopy of them just beyond your reach.
“Y/N?”
The sound of your name brought your eyes back to Steve, his big brown irises locking onto your own.
“It’s not such a bad way to go.” You admitted, giving him a weak and tired smile, “at least I’m here with you.”
“And you said, I’m cheesy?” He smiled, before feeling his face slowly drop. He could feel you slipping, even though he had been trying his damndest to ignore it.
In that moment you knew you were saying goodbye but neither of you want to admit it. Because of you said it out loud it was real. Steve locked his eyes onto yours and brought you into his chest, each of you bathed in your blood. Steve felt his face crack into the look he had seen at the hospital several times before, that point of no return, when love is torn apart. Your hair tumbled over your face and so he swept it back, feeling the coldness of your skin, before gently leaning down and placing a delicate kiss to your lips. You smiled so briefly before your breathing became a noisy rattle...
And then you were gone.
Just like that. One minute you were looking up a Steve with that famous Y/N smile, and the next—
That's how Dustin and Max found the two of you. You departed, Steve sitting in a pool of cold blood, hugging your body as if you were still in there somewhere.
You never figured you would die at eighteen. But then again you never figured you’d fall in love with your best friend either.
*. *. *. *. *. *. *. *.
Once the last person had trickled out of the cemetery, Steve found the courage to fish the small paper out of his pocket. Your parents had asked him if he would write a euology for your funeral, and he did. . . He just didn’t read it, not to everyone.
These words were for you.
Only you.
He unfolded it with shaky hands, doing his best to smooth out the creases in the wrinkled paper.
“I’m not very good at writing sentimental shit so your gonna have to bear with me.” He breathed, glancing over at your portrait once more.
“Your parents told me I should do this, that it might help with your passing. . . But I don’t think anything could help with that. I mean, shit- how the hell Am I supposed to go back to a normal life when your not in it. You’ve been in my life since we were kids. You are my normal.
I think I was in love with you for way longer than I realized. I can’t really pin point when it started. All I know is that all of a sudden I was in the middle of it. If I’m begin honest you were the only thing keeping me sane for a long time in this godforsaken town. But then you introduced me to Robin and all three of us became friends. . . And nothings been the same since.”
Each word that left his tongue felt like a weight being lifted off his shoulders. He should have said these things to you in person, but hey- he was a coward so this was as good as it was going to get.
“I know your dead. I mean, I know it in my head, but it doesn’t seem real. I still feel like your here, with me somehow, like one night you’ll be sneaking into family video after close, back from sneaking out after curfew to tell me and Robin about some solo adventure you went on.
I wish you could tell me where you are now. I mean, like I said, I know your gone, but I think there must be something in a person that can’t just disappear.
I guess that’s my formal invitation for you to haunt my ass until the end of time.
I know your out there. Somewhere. Just give me a sign when you can.
In the meantime don’t worry about me. Vecnas gone, and I’m not alone. Robin and Dustin are still looking out for me.
I’m grateful that I got to grow up with you as my best friend, and for all that you showed me.
Yours Forever,
Steve
The End.

One fundamental writing flaw with S4 is that it simply holds the viewers hand too much and overexplains things. Which is total normal for an early draft of a written project! In early drafts you tend to overwrite and give information that isn't needed simply because you're putting all of the pieces together in your head at the same time you're putting them into the story. The Duffers clearly had more time to revise S1 than they did S4, and it shows in the sloppy writing and too long runtime.
Take, for example, S1E08: The Upside Down in comparison to S4E06: The Dive and S4E07: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab. Specifically, take the scenes paralleling Steve going back into the house to save Nancy and Jonathan in comparison to Nancy, Robin, and Eddie going into the Upside Down to save Steve.
To be clear, I think this was a fantastic parallel made by the Duffers (Steve is being mauled by bats when a bat is what he used to save Nancy and Jonathan. It's clever, if a little on the nose). They're very good at paralleling previous events and calling back to their own plot points. In general, as the show has gone on, I think they're much better at over-arching ideas and thematic parallels than they are at crafting individual scenes, but that's a different post.
S1E08: The Upside Down is very snappy when it comes to Steve going back into the house. He runs outside. He fumbles with his keys. And then he turns back to the house and:
Tumblr media
There's no dialogue here. We don't need anything more than this shot to know that Steve is going to go back into the house. Joe Keery's acting and prior setup do all of the heavy lifting here. The last we saw of Steve before he came to the Byers' to apologize to Jonathan is him arguing with Tommy H and Carol, which ends with Tommy H telling Steve to "run away like [he] always [does]." Steve has to go back into the house. The narrative tells us as much. This single shot tells us that it isn't up for debate. It isn't even really a choice. Steve is going back into the house.
And it's not a surprise when less than a minute later Steve saves Nancy and Jonathan . We don't need to actually see him run back towards the house, or pick up the bat. He doesn't need to say anything to announce his presence. The scene doesn't need to halt to dramatically reveal that Steve came back.
S4E06: The Dive and S4E07: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab have the same general premise of characters making a choice to put themselves in danger to save someone else. Unlike the scene in S1, this scene is overdramatic, played with an edge of comedy, and it gives us too much information.
Steve is dragged underwater and then--we get about almost a minute worth of clips showing Nancy, Robin, and Eddie all jumping into the water. And it's all filled with characters yelling about what just happened, and quippy dialogue ("She said wait!" "Yeah, I heard her." "She's in charge!" "Are you kidding me? I made that shit up." / "[indistinct swearing] This is so stupid!") as each character dramatically dives into the lake one by one.
We don't need this information. We already know that Nancy and Robin are going to jump into the lake. We know that Eddie is going to jump into the lake because they put him on the boat in the first place, and if he was really a coward he would have stayed on shore with the kids.
It's Chekhov's gun logic in both scenes. Steve is told to "run away like [he] always [does]" and we, the audience, know he won't run away despite being given the chance. Eddie gets on the boat to go towards the potential danger and we, the audience, know he isn't going to be the only one that doesn't jump into the water to save Steve. We don't need to be explicitly told this. This is almost a minute worth of scenes that we don't need. We don't need to see Nancy, Robin, and Eddie jumping into the lake, just like we didn't need to see Steve run back into the house and pick up the bat.
What's even more pointless to me is the dramatic entrance the Nancy, Robin, and Eddie make upon saving Steve:
Tumblr media
One of the bats it hit and goes flying, and then the camera does a slow pan up Nancy, with Robin and Eddie standing behind her just waiting for the directing cue for them to do something, but first Nancy needs to drop a one liner ("Hey there."). I was going to try and gif Steve coming back to save Jonathan and Nancy for a comparison to this shot, but I couldn't. Because when Steve goes back into the house it's fast paced, there's no pointless dramatic pauses, and the scene is simply too chaotic to actually clip anything halfway decent. And that's good! That's how you make an action scene have weight and realism (and yes, you do need a degree of realism in shows, even if those shows are about sci-fi monsters).
And the problem with S4 is that every single scene is like this. The writing holds your hand through every shot. The directing is lacking. Every scene feels like it's 30 seconds to a minute too long. And the show feels like it's trying to be a Marvel movie, rather than Stranger Things.

SINCLAIR RESIDENCE
Adrenaline pumps through my veins as I run down Maple. Nancy is close beside me and once my house comes into view, we slow down to a light jog and eventually to a stop. I bend over placing my hands on my knees gasping for air. My legs ache and my chest burns from overexertion. Nancy and I linger on my front lawn until we can catch our breaths to speak.
“What—” I cough into my arm. “What was that?” I wheeze.
“I don’t know.” Nancy pants. She stands up, holding her side.
“Do you think—” I draw a sharp breath blinking back tears. I can’t bring myself to finish the sentence.
Nancy doesn’t respond. Both of us think the same thing. Something happened to Barb. Something bad. Her car still at the same spot we left it last night. She wasn’t at school today and there was something or someone in Steve’s backyard.
“We need to tell our parents.” Nancy says, her face flush with pink. I nod my head in agreement. Our parents will know what to do. “Meet at my house in twenty, okay?” Her voice sounds thick with emotion.
“Y-yes,” I croak. A tear falls down my face.
Nancy’s chin trembles as she wraps her arms around me. I choke on a sob, holding her tight in my arms. We stand there for a moment, crying in each other’s arms and in that moment, what happened last night at Steve’s party doesn’t matter anymore. Any anger or resent I had in my heart disappears. What matters is Barb and that we need to find her.
I approach my door with heavy feet and unlock it. My body feels like it has been drained of everything in it. I feel like a hollow cavern, floating around. I close the door behind me and walk towards the kitchen. I don’t see anything around me. I don’t hear anything. I just feel exhausted.
“Mom!” I shout, my chest feels tight. “Mom!”
Mom comes rushing down the stairs with Erica trailing behind. Her face is etched with worry and fear. Erica lingers by the stairs watching me carefully. I hold my chest in my hands, feeling my tears trickle down my face.
“Diana! Honey, what’s wrong?”
“S-something happened to Barb.” I whimper. “Something bad happened to her!”
“What do you mean something happened to her? Didn’t she sleep over at Nancy’s?”
I look up at the ceiling. I forgot. How could something bad happen to Barb if she was with us the whole time. I open my mouth to speak but the words don’t come. I hiccup, choking on a sob. This is what I get for lying to her. I drop my bag on the floor and hold my head in my hands. I can’t stop crying at how my life has turned upside down in the span of 24-hours.
“Diana?” Mom says, her voice thick with worry. I smell her expensive perfume before I feel her arms wrap around me. “What happened last night?”
I lift my head from my hands, looking up at her. Nancy and I had a plan. I needed to stick to the plan. “We have to go to Mrs. Wheeler’s house.” I say, taking a step back. “Right, now.”
“Diana, what’s going on?”
I don’t answer, marching to the front door. I hear Mom’s footsteps behind me. “Diana!”
I turn around, eyes fresh with tears. Mom is standing in front of me, eyes darting back and forth, waiting for an answer. Erica is close behind watching me with a glint of fear in hers.
“We can’t find her, Mom.” I whimper. “We can’t find Barb.”
WHEELER RESIDENCE
Thirty-five minutes later and me, Mom, Mrs. Wheeler, Nancy and Mr. and Mrs. Holland are sitting in the sitting room. Mrs. Wheeler set Erica in the living room with snacks and the television making sure she was far away from the commotion, but close enough to keep an eye one. Nancy and I are sitting beside each other. Neither of us look at the adults. I’m bouncing my leg up and down trying to calm my nerves. I feel like pacing back and forth. Going for a run. Just anything to keep from having a mental breakdown. I expect Mrs. Wheeler and Mom to be angry with us, but they aren’t. Only concerned. As they should be when Nancy and I walk into our respective households crying. Still I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.
“Tell us what happened from the very beginning.” Mrs. Wheeler says, calmly.
I feel like I have been asked to take the stand. Thankfully, it’s Nancy who responds.
“Barb, Diana and I were invited to a party last night.” She says, looking at her hands. I quickly glance at Mom. Her expression is neutral.
“Who’s party?”
Nancy doesn’t answer right away.
“Is it Steve’s?” Mrs. Wheeler asks.
“Yes.” Nancy mumbles. “I told Barb and Diana to lie and say we were going to Will’s assembly on the field. Instead, Barb drove us to Steve’s house across town.” Nancy looks up at Mrs. Wheeler and swallows. “We were all hanging out at his house and then…” she looks at me to speak.
“I wanted to go home.” I finish.
“I didn’t.” Nancy adds.
“I asked Barb if she wanted to come with me, but she decided to stay with Nancy.”
“You walked home from across town.” Mom voiced. I can hear the shock in her tone. “In the middle of the night.”
I look at her, biting my lip. I want to tell her about Eddie driving me home, but what then I would be caught in another lie. “Well—”
The front door opens and slams shut. All of us turn to the door. Mike is halfway across the foyer when Mrs. Wheeler calls out his name rushing to him. Mike stops and turns to face us. Tears glisten on his cheeks and more run down his face. I stand up, feeling my stomach drop to my feet and share a worried glance at Nancy. Mike’s face puckers as he fights to hold everything in, but as soon as Mrs. Wheeler hugs him, he lets go.
“What happened, honey?” I hear Mrs. Wheeler say between Mike’s sobs.
“W-Will.” It’s all Mike is able to say before he breaks down.
I stumble back, losing my footing for a brief moment, my body rocked by the sheer force of the unexpected revelation. I stagger out of the sitting room to the front door, yanking it open.
“Diana!” I hear Mom shout, but I don’t turn around, my feet guiding me back home.
I can’t hear anything but the violent whooshing of wind hitting my face as I run down the street. Tears leak from my eyes, trickling into my hairline. My heart is pounding so hard I feel like it’ll burst out of my chest. I run. I keep running until I see my lawn. From the other side of the street, I see a small flash of light. His legs are pushing against the pedals of his bike.
“Lucas!” I shout. My throat burns. “Lucas!”
Lucas climbs off his bike dropping it in the middle of our lawn. He runs, slamming his body into mine. All the air rushes out my lungs but I don’t care. I wrap my arms around my brother holding him tight. I hear his sobs. I feel his shudders. Lucas clings to me like if he let’s go, I’ll disappear too. I don’t say anything. I just hold him letting my tears fall silently. I don’t know how long it takes for Mom to pull into the driveway or how Lucas and I got back inside the house. All I know is, we need each other more than anything.

Falling for the Freak - Eddie Munson Fix-It Fic Chapter 20
First off hi! I’m back! It’s been a good few days. I had some seriously good gossip sessions with my sister in-law this weekend and I feel like weights have been lifted from my shoulders. We talked so much about all the things and I even got to talk to my brother about things we had never talked about and I felt like I got to release stresses that I have been holding on to by myself for a long time. In short I feel much better than I have.
Also, here’s another thing that’s occurred to me. We’re technically in stuff that happens in vol. 2 at this point in the fic. I’m thinking, in order to keep writing this, I want to kind of wrap all that up and act like Vecna didn’t split Hawkins into a billion pieces and stuff so I’m currently working on how I want to do that. I’m thinking basically, and since this is a fix-it fic, that thing big sad won’t happen to Max or our favorite town freak (duh). And we’ll just act like things got wrapped up and our power couple can just go on living their best lives - like going to prom and seeing Eddie graduate. That’s the general vibe I’m going for in these next few chapters, how exactly I’m gonna do all that I have no clue! :D
I hope you enjoy this chapter!
CHAPTER SUMMARY: The reader, Eddie, and the gang head out to load up on weapons in order to return to the Upside Down. First of course, they must find a new mode of transportation. (I’m sure you know where this is going...)
DISCLAIMERS/WARNINGS: Obviously as we’ve said before, not all of this plot is original content - the events that happen in ST4 belong to the Duffer Brothers and all creators who helped develop this new season. I’m just adjusting them to my likings. Also, language, some fluff/angst boardering on smut. No penetrative sex but definitely some heavy petting. We’re gonna say 18+ just because.
Chapter 20
Eddie and I had woken up the next morning when Nancy poked me in the shoulder. If it hadn’t been for the distraught look on her face, I would’ve had half a mind to be annoyed with her for waking me up from some seriously needed sleep. However, Nancy clearly was still in shock and processing her run in with Vecna. I sat up and helped her to her seat in one of the arm chairs across from the couch. I made sure Eddie was awake and then got the others out of their rooms. Soon we were all in the living room of Max’s trailer and Nancy was explaining what she had seen when Vecna paid her a visit.
“He showed me things that haven’t happened yet,” She began. “The most awful things...dark clouds spreading over the town, fires, bodies, and-,” she stopped to take a breath before she continued. “Monsters, so many monsters, it was an army and they were invading our town. I saw my family-” she stopped at that and wiped the tears from her eyes.
I sat on the floor next to her and held her hands as she talked. She was trembling.
“But none of that’s real,” Steve said. “Vecna’s just getting in your head, scaring you. None of that stuff has happened,”
“Not yet,” Nancy whispered. “There’s more though. There were gates, four of them, spreading over the town, connecting to each other,”
“Vecna’s calling card is four chimes of a clock.” Max said. “Four chimes, four gates,”
“So if each time he kills, he opens up a gate...” I started.
Lucas realized where my mind was headed. “Four kills, four gates,”
“Patrick was his third,” Eddie said.
“That’s only one more,” I said and I felt Nancy squeeze my hand tighter.
“Jesus Christ,” Eddie said, holding his face in his hands.
“Try them again,” Steve said, turning to Max.
“Try who again?” I asked.
“The others in California,” Robin said. “We’ve tried calling them a million times but they haven’t answered,”
Max stood at the phone for a moment and then hung up, frustrated. “We’re still getting a busy signal,”
“Are you always getting a buys signal?” I asked and Max nodded.
“It’s Joyce’s telemarketer job, it ties up their entire phoneline,” Dustin said.
“For three days?” Max replied. “It isn’t Joyce, something is wrong,”
“This has to be connected to us,” Nancy said. “There’s no such thing as a coincidence. Not for us. I’m sure they’re connected. We have to go back into the Upside Down and finish this,”
---
Nancy’s plan was met with multiple reactions - mostly negative. We may not have been outnumbered, but we were unprepared. We couldn’t predict the amount of monsters or the kind of monsters Vecna would turn against us once we went back. We also didn’t have the artiliary that we would need to take him out. Most of all, we didn’t know when, where or who he would strike against for his fourth and final attack. That is, until Max spoke up.
“We know who he’ll go after,” Max said. “And we can control when it happens if I stop listening to Kate Bush,”
“No,” Lucas protested. “You’re not doing this. You’re not sacrificing yourself,”
“Who says anything about sacrifice?” Max asked. “The goal is to stop him from killing his final victim correct? So we’ll stop him before he gets me. I’m cursed anyway, so let me do this. Then we can at least predict something about his next attack,”
They exchanged a glance and seemed to reach an agreement with each other. Then it was Steve’s turn to speak up. “Ok, that’s great and all but that doesn’t solve our weapons problem. No offense Nance, but I don’t think the guns in your bedroom are going to do much good,”
“I might have a solution to that problem,” Eddie said standing up. He found a phonebook and laid it on the table for us to see. “Look here,” he said, tapping on an ad that had a Rambo-looking cartoon man shooting a gun on the front. “It’s huge, this place, I went there once, and they have anything that we might need for uh, you know, killing things. If we avoid main roads we could probably get out there no problem,”
“We can’t bike out there though,” Dustin chimed in. “It would take all day,”
“Oh we won’t be biking,” Eddie said with a devious look on his face.
---
Eddie led us through the trailer parking carrying a duffle bag and wearing a Michael Myers mask until we reached a Winnebago. There was a couple sitting outside in lawn chairs and watching tv. I held on to Eddie’s hand tightly as he pulled me around to the other side of the vehicle. He searched along the side until he found a window. He pulled on it and it slid open. Eddie tossed his duffle bag inside and then turned to me.
“Ok up you go,” he said. He cupped his hands together and I stepped into them. Eddie hoisted me up until I could pull myself through the window. Once I was in he quickly followed and yanked the Halloween mask off. “God that was suffocating,”
As Eddie rushed to the front seat of the Winnebago, I helped the others climb in through the window. After everyone was inside, I went up front to check on Eddie. Steve joined me until we were standing behind Eddie as he fiddled with the wires in the front of the car. I watched as he worked, clipping wires and pulling away their plastic wrappings. He seemed a little too skilled in the craft of hotwiring a car, but I enjoyed watching his fingers work.
“How did you learn to do this?” Steve asked.
“Oh well you know, while the other dads were out there playing ball with their boys, my dad was teaching me how to hot wire,” Eddie said. “I’ve always sworn I wouldn’t end up like my old man, but here we are, wanted for murder and soon enough, grand theft auto,”
Robin appeared behind me. “Eddie, no offense, but I don’t know how I feel about you driving this thing,”
“Oh I’m just starting this sucker,” Eddie said. (Author’s note - I had to include this line because Joe fucking improvised it and it’s literal gold - end of note). “Harrington’s got her,” then he leaned in closer to Steve “don’t ya big boy?” he asked.
Steve had just enough time to give Eddie a questionable look before the Winnebago sparked to life. Suddenly there was yelling from outside and the couple from the lawn chairs were running towards the door. Luckily Eddie had locked before he began hotwiring the car. Eddie jumped out of the driver’s seat and Steve replaced him. Eddie grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the back of the van. I was vaguely aware that “Around the Bend” by Creedence Clearwater was blaring through the Winnebago and that Eddie felt compelled to headbang to it, but mostly I was consumed with the stress of trying to get out of the trailer park.
It was a bumpy ride, but Steve got us out of there and on to the road without being stopped. And with that, we were on our way to The War Zone.
---
When we arrived, the place was crawling with Hawkins locals looking for a way to protect themselves from all the horrific things that had been happening. We came up with a plan before we were parked. Eddie and I would stay in the Winnebago, out of sight while the others went into the store and stocked up on Vecna killing weapons.
“Be safe in there,” I said to Nancy as she got out of her seat.
“Be safe in here,” she replied.
I watched as the other filed out with her. We made sure every curtain was closed and all the windows were latched. I sat in the back of the Winnebago as Eddie locked the last window. He then suddenly burst through the curtain that separated the back cabin from the rest of the vehicle. Eddie leaned in the doorway acting like he was deep in thought.
“Hmm,” he started. “We’re in a Winnebago, all alone, and we have at least twenty minutes to kill. Gosh, what are we to do?”
I looked up at him from my place on the back seat. He had that devious look back in his eye. Then Eddie was on me - his hands were pressed into the back of the car’s couch on either side of my shoulders. He held himself up as he leaned down to kiss me all over my face.
I giggled and pulled away. “Is now really the time?” I asked.
“Babe, the world is ending,” Eddie said. “This might be the only time,”
“It won’t end if we stop it,” I smiled, playing devil’s advocate. I wanted him and he knew it. I just wanted to see how strung out I could make him.
“Babe,” Eddie moaned, “I almost died last night,”
“You’re pulling the I almost died card on me right now?” I laughed. “You are desperate,”
“Fine,” he said. “I am, but it’s only because you are the most gorgeous creature that has ever walked this planet,”
I paused. “Do you really mean that?” I asked.
“I would never lie to you about how fucking beautiful I think you are,” Eddie said.
“How are you real?” I gigled, pulling him down into a kiss.
Eddie melted into me. He wrapped his arms around me and picked me up. He sat down and set me on his lap, my legs falling on either side of his hips. I held his face in my hands as he slipped his fingers up my shirt.
“I’m having a weird sense of deja vu right now,” I said with a smile.
“Gee, I wonder when you may have experienced this before,” Eddie said sarcastically.
He pulled me tight against him as I moved my hips back and forth over his lap. I could feel him getting hard underneath me and my stomach was filling with butterflies. I kissed him again and again, letting him open my mouth with his. I felt the heat of his tongue against mine and then the sting of his teeth biting my lower lip. I groaned at the feeling and wondered why we hadn’t tried kissing like this sooner in our relationship.
Eddie’s mouth strayed from mine to begin trailing down to my neck. It felt like my skin was lighting on fire as his mouth moved across it. My fingers dug into his shoulders as he pulled the collar of my shirt away and nipped at the soft skin of my neck.
His hands slipped from my back to my waist where he gave me a soft squeeze. They then moved up to my breasts. He hovered over the cups of my bra for a moment and then pulled at them to further uncover my body.
“Eddie,” I gasped. “I have to tell you something,”
“What is it?” he asked, his mouth still working on my neck.
“Watching you hotwire this thing was a major turn on,” I said, feeling the blood rush to my cheeks as I said it.
Eddie pulled away and looked up at me. “Really?”
“Yeah,” I said. “I don’t know why, maybe it was because of your hands. I’m not sure. It was just like...really sexy,”
Eddie’s pupils dialated a little and he grinned. He tiled his head up and began to kiss me again. His fingers squeezed and pinched my nipples until they were sore. I was a breathless, moaning mess when we first heard the voices getting closer to the car.
“Shit,” Eddie muttered. “Shit, my pants,”
The door to the Winnebago was opening as I crawled off Eddie’s lap. I peaked through the curtain and saw Steve hurrying back into the driver’s seat. The others found their seats and Robin closed the door behind them.
“Where’s Eddie?” She asked.
“In the back,” I said.
Robin must’ve noticed my flustered state because she stopped and looked more closely at me. “Is everything ok?” she asked.
“Yeah,” I said. “Everything’s fine.”
“What did you guys do while we were gone?” Robin asked, a little smirk showing up on her lips.
“We talked,” I said.
“You talked?” she asked.
“Gross,” Steve muttered from up front.
Robin’s smirk grew. “Yeah sure, you talked,” she laughed as she sat down.
I couldn’t help but giggle. The whole thing was ridiculous. Was I really supposed to be embarrassed about getting caught making out with my boyfriend when the world was about to end?

STRANGER THINGS 4 SPOILER!
Max in Season 4
Many people are worried for the character of Max after the scene in the trailer in which she is being chased and one in which she's levitating. The new monopoly cards explain why. I got the screenshots of the cards from @michael.ish on TikTok and again, here's a heavy spoiler warning this content is NOT in the trailer! This post talks a lot about death so if that's something you don't want to hear at the moment then you might want to skip this one.
Tumblr media
Spoilers begin here! In one scene in the trailer, Max was levitating. Not only was this abnormal because Max can't fly but also because Billy's grave had changed. This is because Max is in a trance in this scene. Firstly, the monopoly cards confirm that trances will be one of Vecna's powers in this season.
Tumblr media
But what will her trance consist of? Her trance will likely include her being forced to relive the death of Billy and the events of Hawkins Lab as stated on one of the monopoly cards. I also believe the scene of her being chased to her own levitating body will be part of the trance, namely her trying to escape the dream world. This fits in with the last card which says you 'think you're going through a portal' which it looks like Max is about to do in the shot of her being chased. The clock could also easily be part of her trance which explains why she's in the same outfit in all of these scenes and why the halls are so empty. Either that, or the clock is a calling card of sorts to signal that Vecna has began to corrupt you/your world. She goes into this dream in the cemetery. It will take place in the episode Dear Billy as people have traced the promo photo files of her to episode 4 (which is Dear Billy). I believe the scene of her levitating could also take place in the real world because Vecna could lift her up in the dream world and it would appear to everyone else that she was levitating.
Tumblr media
The Duffer Brothers told us season 4 has Nightmare on Elm Street influences, a movie in which if the characters are killed in their dreams, they also die in real life. They even went so far as to cast the actor of Freddy Krueger as Victor Creel which is fitting. This means that if Max doesn't snap out of her trance she will die. The boardgame confirms this.
Tumblr media
I still have hope though due to the shot of the crew cradling someone who I think is Max. However, whether they are helping a distressed Max who has escaped a trance or holding the body of a sleeping or maybe even dead Max is up for debate. The fact it takes place in the cemetery links it to the earlier cards as well. The game uses cassette tapes to get you out of trances so I wonder if Max's cassette player she's always seen with could save her.
Tumblr media
So overall, Max is in danger! Will she survive this trance? We'll just have to wait and see.

Will Byers is Gay: The Evidence So Far
With the release of Stranger Things 3, there has been a lot of discussion kicked up about the character of Will Byers and his sexuality (or lack thereof). I've seen a lot of takes about what "it's not my fault you don't like girls" was intended to mean, many of which seem to take it in isolation, so I wanted to make a post putting it into what I think is its proper context; not an isolated incident, but the latest carriage in veritable train of queer themed language and imagery that has followed Will Byers since episode one of season one, and before that. You ready? Alright, let's go.
Season Zero: the Montauk Files
Before Stranger Things became Stranger Things, it was called Montauk. Like many would-be show makers, the Duffer Bros put together a "show bible" describing the premise, setting, tone, and characters of the show they intended to make. Like many shows, a lot of these ideas changed or were lost on their way to the screen, but it's always worth looking into their original concepts. Here is their description of Will Byers in the Montauk show bible:
Tumblr media
Obviously, the major whammy there is in the first line "sexual identity issues." But there are some other interesting notes, like his "colorful clothes" that you might want to keep a lookout for on your next rewatch. Now, onto...
Season 1
The thing to pay attention to regarding Will in season 1 is in the language used to refer to him when he is not present (which he isn't for most of the season).
Episode 1: the subject of bullying comes up right away in the conversation between Joyce and Hopper. "The kids, they're mean. They laugh at him, laugh at his clothes, call him names." "What's wrong with his clothes?" "I don't know!" This harkens back to the Montauk show bible, but it's arguable, since it's never made clear what about his clothes draws ire.
She also mentions that he is "sensitive," "not like most," and that his dad said he was "queer" and called him a "fag." Hopper asks "is he?" to which she replies "He's missing is what he is!"
Episode 3: Troy says he's not missing, he's dead. "Probably killed by some other queer."
Episode 4: Troy, again "Will's in fairyland, flying around with all the other little fairies, all happy and gay."
Sensitive, queer, fag, fairy, and gay are all used to describe Will in season 1, but perhaps more notable is the fact that they aren't used to describe anyone else. If the show were truly period accurate, let's be real; the whole party would've been called queers on a pretty regular basis, because "queer" doubled as a generic insult back then. But in season 1, these words are only ever used in relation to Will, with one exception; in episode 6, Steve says to Will's brother, "I used to think you were queer." So it's not even an active accusation in that moment; it's used in the negative.
Hell, Troy walked up to Lucas mockingly proposing to Mike and proclaiming his love for him, and he still didn't call them queers. That language is reserved for Will.
Now granted, most of these are used as insults by characters who don't like Will, but still; as a writer, if you want your audience to remember something, repetition is an excellent way to embed it in their minds. There's a reason for the specificity of language surrounding Will, and a reason that language keeps coming up over and over and over again.
Season 2
Season 2 retires much of the homophobic language used to insult Will, replacing it with "Zombie Boy." The only homophobic language used in season 2 is the word "faggot," used by Billy's father to refer to Billy, who expresses a clear interest in women (and an arguable interest in one particular man, but that's the subject of another post).
Still, there is an arguable bit of queer theming in Will's conversation with Jonathan regarding the benefits of being a "freak" and how normal people never accomplish anything. Jonathan even invokes bisexual icon David Bowie to make Will feel better about his "freakishness."
The clearest piece of queer theming for Will in season 2 comes in episode 8, in this beautiful speech from Joyce to Possessed Will:
"When you turned eight, I gave you that huge box of crayons, do you remember that? It was 120 colors. And all your friends got you Star Wars toys, but all you wanted to do was draw with all your new colors. And you drew this big spaceship, but it wasn't from a movie. It was YOUR spaceship; a RAINBOW Ship, that's what you called it. And you, you must have used every color in the box. I took that with me to Melvald's, and I put it up. I told everyone who came in, 'My son drew this.' And you were so embarrassed, but I was so proud. I was so, so proud."
This is one of the most powerful memories of her son that Joyce has, an image so strong and distinct that she uses it to invoke his true identity against the monster that is slowly subsuming him. She notes very specifically that it's not something he copied, but something that came entirely from Will himself, an image that she felt represented him so perfectly that she took it with her to work and proudly touted it as his to everyone she knew. The Rainbow Ship is Joyce's picture of her son's very heart, and surely I don't need to explain to you how powerful a piece of queer imagery the rainbow is.
Some subtextual stuff; in episode 9, when the girl asks Will to dance, he stammers "I... I don't..." and only goes to dance with her when Mike literally pushes him towards her.
During the final montage, the scene cuts to different characters in time with appropriate lines from the song: "every move you make" cuts to Mike and El (as he is teaching her to dance), "every vow you break" cuts to Nancy dancing with Dustin (as she technically cheated on Steve with Jonathan), "I'll be watching you" cuts to Lucas dancing with Max (as she has playfully called him 'stalker' all season). What line cuts to Will? "Every smile you fake," specifically on the word fake, while Will dances with a girl wearing this expression:
Tumblr media
That is not a real smile, that is not a comfortable boy, and that is not an accident; Noah Schnapp is one of the best actors in the entire show, and of the young boys, he is the one the Duffers trust most to do dramatic heavy lifting.
Do you want it to be a little more explicit? Okay, here is that scene in the script:
Tumblr media
I mean, that pretty much speaks for itself. It's less explicit in the actual show, but it's still there, you know?
Season 3
And now, the biggest and most explicit thing to date; The Scene. I mean, you could discuss the obvious subtext in the simple fact that Will is the only male main character who has yet to find a girlfriend or express any interest in girls whatsoever, but that pales in comparison to The Scene.
The setup for The Scene is pretty simple; after declaring "a day free of girls" in order to get his friends to run the D&D campaign he's probably spent a significant amount of time creating, his friends have blown him off to continue bemoaning their girl troubles, so Will has decided to leave. Mike, realizing too late that he has genuinely upset his friend, chases after him to try and get him to come back.
A back-and-forth argument ensues, where Will accuses Mike of ruining the party and abandoning his friends in favor of girls, and Mike, in the heat of the moment, responds with "It's not my fault you don't like girls!" After which, everything stops. There is a full second of silence, and a close up on Noah Schnapp's face so you can take in his reaction.
Tumblr media
There is a lot to unpack here. Now, acting is up to interpretation to a degree, but to me, that expression conveys two primary emotions; shock, and betrayal. That face says "how could you?" Because here's the thing; regardless of what Mike does or doesn't know about Will's sexuality, Mike knows for a fact that Will has been called a queer all his life by everyone from his school bullies to his own fucking dirtbag father. By invoking even the specter of that, Mike has crossed a fucking line, and he knows it. And we know he knows it, because he immediately backtracks and tries to mitigate the damage. But it's too late. The damage has been done.
I also think there is a tinge of fear in that image. Just a moment of soul raking panic that pretty much every closeted queer person knows intimately. It's very brief. But I think it's there, if you look.
This scene sends Will into an emotional tailspin that culminates in him tearing down the literal last bastion of his childhood in a fit of sorrow and rage. His innocence has been destroyed. He cannot regain what he has lost, and he can never go back to the way things were before. This is the emotional climax of his arc for season three. It's a powerful one-- shame it comes in the third of eight episodes, but that's neither here nor there.
And that's pretty much it for now. Any one of these things taken in isolation could be very easily dismissed, but here's the thing; they aren't isolated incidents. They are part of a clear and consistent pattern, one that goes all the way back to the show's inception, before even one minute of footage was filmed. And this pattern points to one very obvious conclusion; the Duffer Brothers have always intended, and continue to intend, for Will Byers to be gay.
Now, for the obvious question; why haven't they made it explicit yet?
The answer is as unfortunate as it is obvious; I don't know.
It's entirely possible that there is some external force that the Duffers have to answer to that is preventing them from actively pursuing this particular storyline. This happens all the time in Hollywood, and it could be anything from Netflix to Noah Schnapp's parents to Noah Schnapp himself just being uncomfortable with it. Many are the creators who dream Big Gay Dreams only to run into the horrors of our Forced Hetero Reality. If the Duffers ultimately submit to these pressures, I hope you won't be too hard on them. This shit is harder than you think to get to the screen sometimes.
But it's also possible that they just aren't ready for it yet. That they have been saving this for a future storyline, that they just want their characters (and the actors) to get a little older before they pursue this particular storyline explicitly, but they've been busily laying groundwork for it so that anyone paying attention will know it's coming.
I don't know. Only time will tell for sure.
For now, I can tell you this; I see a great deal of evidence that the Duffers still intend for Will to be gay, and precisely zero that they have changed their minds.
I hope that holds true.

Right, okay, let’s talk about Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Oh boy, do I have a lot to unpack here. And, uh, content warning for discussion of rape and genocide.
Right, let’s start with my thoughts on the first one. Overall, I liked it a whole lot, but mostly I’m astounded that it got the go-ahead in the first place. I mean, a bizarre subversive take on Sleeping Beauty of all things that recasts Disney’s most iconic villain as a sort of anti-hero with a heavy feminist slant that had a blatantly unsubtle rape metaphor as its centerpiece? It should have been a trainwreck! Hell, it almost was a trainwreck, one that threatened to jump the tracks the entire runtime! It shouldn’t have worked, it almost didn’t work...but it still did.
Part of that was just how committed everyone involved was to its own mad premise. Say what you want about the idea, but it was ballsy as hell, and it totally went all in with...everything. I mean, you kind of have to just to make something like this work, as any kind of drawback or halfass would’ve caused the whole thing to come crashing down, so the only chance you’ve got is to point the whole endeavor straight at that brick wall and slam your foot down on the ignition. And it went in deep, recontextualizing King Steffen as a paranoid, manipulative, power-hungry madman; the three fairies as total dolts; Prince Philip, someone who might seem dull in comparison to later princes like Aladdin, Eric, or the Beast, but was still the most proactive prince Disney had at that point, as kind of a duffer whom Maleficent had to literally drag along on his own quest and who was understandably squeamish about kissing an unconscious girl against her will; Daival as a dashing sidekick; and completely flips the Maleficent/Aurora relationship on its head. That’s the sort of thing you see in those What If? fanfics that you tend to obsess over in highschool, and it comes packing all of the raw emotion of one of those fics, and because of that it pulls its own crazy premise off. Yes, it was flawed. Yes, there were things that didn’t work. But they almost don’t matter in light of just how impressive it was that they managed to pull something this audacious off.
And as for the rape metaphor...actually, scratch that. Let’s call a spade a spade, okay? It wasn’t a metaphor, that was straight up a rape. Maybe it wasn’t sexual, but what a lot of people forget is that rape isn’t about sex, it’s about power. It’s about dominating another person to take their power away so that the aggressor can feel powerful, and that’s how it was played, and they committed to showing it in all of its ugliness. I mean, holy shit that takes balls.
But the bulk of the reason why it worked was because of Angelina Jolie.
I mean, what an absolutely mesmerizing performance! The OG Maleficent was so memorable in part because everyone else in that movie kind of...wasn’t, but also because she was super cool and super badass and totally in love with being THAT BITCH! And Angelina Jolie absolutely owns that role.
I mean, she is Maleficent. She just took a DNA test, and I don’t need to tell you what the results are. She embodied all of that iconic character’s regal majesty, menace, cruelty, confidence, and knowing that she was the badass bitch to ever vamp about in a long black gown with a bitching pimp staff just ready to show up uninvited and wreak some unholy vengeance, and then some. There is no longer any need to wonder where your god is, because she is right there, and she is all out of mercy.
But then she goes and gives actual depth to a really awesome but still kind of one note character, from the young innocence before she was betrayed to genuinely bonding with young Aurora to her desperate heartbreak over being unable to break her own curse to actual fear when it seems that the mad king has finally got her to...well, the agony of betrayal when she wakes up and fully realizes what Steffen has done to her. That’s a wide range of emotions to have to portray in a character only known for being smirkingly evil or ragingly evil, but she goes in hard, and basically holds the whole haphazard production together through the sheer gravitational pull of her performance.
So when they announced a sequel, I was intrigued. In fact, I was hoping for another totally insane, probably a bad idea production that just goes HAM on whatever crazy topical stuff it wants to talk about with Angelina Jolie just owning everything she touches.
But what it turned out to be...
Sigh.
Okay.
Let’s do this.
All right, I won’t go into specific plot details until I reach the spoiler cut, because they’re not really important. What I want to get across is the first third of this movie, it really had me. It was good! It had everything I liked about the first one. Different situation, sure, but we had Maleficent being Maleficent and bouncing off other characters, both old and new, and it was good.
Then the second third rolled around, and things started to come apart. I mean, it didn’t totally lose me or anything, there was a lot of good stuff, we learn a lot of cool lore, there’s a kickass Zootopia-type place we visit with a whole bunch of biomes, and I was generally okay with how things were, assuming that they could stick the landing. But the big problem here was that there was a whole lot less of Maleficent. Oh, she was there, sure, but she wasn’t really...doing much, mostly just walking around while some other character explained exposition to her, to which she barely even reacts, so we’re left with Aurora and Philip and Michelle Pfieffer as the new evil queen to do all the heavy lifting. And they do an admirable job of it I suppose (though the lack of romantic chemistry between Aurora and Philip was really noticeable here), but this part was seriously missing Angelina Jolie’s overwhelming presence that the first movie had, so the seams started to show.
And then we get to the third act, and that’s where it all fell apart for me. So, I guess it’s spoiler time.
Long story short, the main plot is that Prince Philip’s mom is evil and is trying to arrange for the total genocide of all of Maleficent’s fairy subjects in the Moors so that the humans can take over. And she does this by first poisoning the king with the same curse Aurora was originally under and blaming it on Maleficent (okay, that works), have Maleficent sniped when she tries to flee with an iron bullet (makes sense), come up with a special iron/magic flower compound that is fatal to fairies (good so far), and luring the Moors inhabitants in with the promise of being wedding guests, locking them in the cathedral, and dousing them with this fairy killing dust. And just in case, she also has the entire castle barricaded and guarded with a whole bunch of fairy killing dust weapons and traps.
You know what? For an evil plot, she really worked out most of the contingencies, and it nearly succeeds, though the question must be asked of why the Moors inhabitants just stroll right in after their guardian just straight up disappears after doing the same thing. But anyway, she gets as far as actually locking up all the fairies and pelting them with the killer dust.
But then the castle is attacked. See, all through the second act, Maleficent is rescued by the rest of her people, the Dark Fae, and it turns out that they’ve slowly been forced by humans to retreat to a single sanctuary, but they’re ready to reclaim their homelands by force, and after seeing her people’s sacred burial grounds defiled and the Dark Fae that saved her assassinated by humans, Maleficent is feeling pretty okay with that. In fact, the warmonger Dark Fae that’s all for violence and who leads the attacks makes a point that Maleficent has powers that not even they possess and could be their secret weapon. I mean, just have her show up and be all Mistress of Evil. Makes sense, right?
Buuuuuuut, then they attack the humans and...just sort of leave her behind? Like, she just stays with the dying dude who sacrificed himself to save her and was the one espousing a peaceful solution, and no one bothers to try to get her to come along despite her having every reason to kick all sorts of ass? Like, they have the forest magic going for them, sure, but she’s packing that green fire of I WIN, YOU LOSE, and they just...don’t take her with them?
Huh?
And as predicted, the humans unleash all their killer dust bombs and killer dust missiles and just massacre the Dark Fae. We see several of them just get slaughtered on screen, and meanwhile we also watch the Moor fairies also getting massacred in what amounts to a fucking GAS CHAMBER, complete with several of them straight up dying on screen, including one of the three fairies! No, I’m being serious, they straight up kill the Blue Fairy!
But then Maleficent shows up fashionably late, green fires all the humans into submission, has her big faceoff with the queen, there’s a bunch of stuff with Aurora and Philip trying to get everyone to stop fighting, there’s a big fakeout GOTCHA with Maleficent dying to save Aurora but coming back because I guess she’s the Phoenix or something, then the queen gets captured and turned into a goat and everyone’s friends now so they all get together and let Aurora and Philip have their wedding because the power of love wins in the end!
...
wat.
Okay, so there is something to be said for the letting peace and understanding win out and refusing to continue the cycle of violence, but, um, wasn’t there, you know, A FUCKING GENOCIDE HAPPENING NOT TOO LONG AGO? And by not too long ago, I mean literally five minutes? We see Dark Fae and Moor fairies dying en mass! And they don’t come back! I mean, there’s a sly hint that the Blue Fairy lives on as a flower or something, but that’s not really elaborated on, and we literally see a whole bunch of people get massacred! But now we’re just going to have a wedding right over everyone’s conveniently bloodless corpses and everyone’s just fine with it? And the evil queen that arranged this whole slaughter gets humorously turned into a goat and everyone laughs at in, including the recovered king (because apparently to break the curse for good all you needed was to destroy the original spindle, so I guess so much for that touching retelling of True Love’s Kiss from the first movie! Totally unnecessary now!) who just says something like, “I’m sure Maleficent will turn her back...assuming we want her to.” And then he just makes a face as if the queen was just a nagging harpy that was hard to put up with and not a literally murderous despot who tried to assassinate you and bring your kingdom to total war by eradicating the neighbors you were trying so hard to work out a peace with!
No. Fuck that, no! That is bullshit! Choose a path and fucking commit! That’s what the first movie did! It decided it was going to sneak a fucking rape scene into a Disney movie that was to be seen by a lot of little girls, and it went all in, up to and including never blaming Maleficent for wanting to take vengeance and putting all of the blame on Steffen, so it worked! If you’re going to stick in a fucking genocide, then you better show the horrific aftereffects of that genocide, not a weaksauce power of love, everyone’s friends now ending! And make the despising of the queen actually mean something, not just a humorous slapstick humiliation!
Fucking hell, what were they thinking?

If I live with my mother and my father is buying me a car will his insurance cover me?
My parents are divorced and my mother has custody of me. My mom's boyfriend bought my older brother's car. So my dad said he'll buy mine. Will his insurance cover me since I live with my mother? Or will I have to pay the insurance to my dad and pay insurance to my mom since I live with her? So basically I would be paying them both for insurance according to my mother. The car will be in my dad's name.

Car insurance question....?
A stray dog ran out in front of my car causing me some damage. My insurance adjuster writes his own estimate so he told me what the insurance would pay minus my deductible. He said the check would be sent to me, that I can have anyone I want to fix it and to shop around. Does that mean if I can find someone to do it for less I can keep the extra to help me toward my deductible????? even though I need to tell them who is doing it before the check is sent to me. (the check will have both names on it) My friend says if I can get it done for less that agreement is between me and who I chose so any extra is mine?????? I don't want to do anything wrong but I also don't want to give money away that I don't have to.""

What should I do about Car Insurance in New Jersey?
I live in NJ. I am 19 years old. I have had some problems in the past with my license. I have hit 2 Deer, had 2 2-Car Accidents, and have 3 Speeding Tickets. There was a period of 90 in which my license was suspended for these violations. I have been clean for a year now. Allstate has jacked my premium this year from $6K to $8K for 6 months. I wanted to change insurances. I tried to get Geico and Esurance but they won't insure me, even with my granddad on the policy as a primary. Esurance was going to cover me on Sunday along with my granddad, but today I called to give them my credit card # and someone different from the person I originally talked to on Sunday said that they cannot insure me. I have been without Insurance for a week now b/c I thought I was going to be with Esurance. What should I do now? How bad is it that I have been without insurance for 5 days? Should I go back to Allstate? Another thing I was thinking was dropping my insurance all together.""

How much would motorcycle insurance be for a 19 year old in Florida?
I'm 19 years old living in Toronto Ontario Canada. I've been riding street bikes since 16 years old and have obtained my M class license. (Ontario's full motorcycle license) My dad is moving the Family back to our hometown of Jacksonville Florida and was curious as to insurance prices since there is no way in hell a 19 year old boy from Toronto can afford a premium on a 600cc sport bike. I currently have a premium on a ninja 250R around 2000$ a year and a secondary driver policy on my dads R6 around 1100$. since my bike here in Canada goes by KMPH i would need to sell it and save myself the hassle of transferring all the info. Last month my car was run into in a parking lot while I was shopping. No question who was at fault. We exchanged information and I contacted their insurance company. Their insurance agreed to pay for all repairs and the rental. However, they did wouldn't pay for the insurance on the rental, claiming it is my responsibility. I only have liability, so the additional insurance cost $8.99 per day, in the end I had to pay $360. I know the ''villain! Will'' arguments are annoying af for many reasons, first of all it being unfit for Will's characterization and the fans's refusal to see him in a hero role... but are we really gonna act like that wasn't the intention on the writers? Because I think they wanted to further some sort of a plotline like that for Will in S5 via Vecna. Not saying he is going to become an evil guy to take revenge on the town or because he's been mistreated by the others, but I think they wanted the audience to think that way to an extent... and to further some sort of a 'situation' between Vecna and Will. Again, I don't think the audience is in the right or anything because I agree that Will is not gonna be evil, I think the way the narrative was portrayed intentionally was made that way to further a certain narrative for S5 imho. Like, I don't think it was just a coincidence that people started demanding Will to team up with Vecna to take revenge after vol2. It happened because the writers were aiming to get a certain reaction and expectation from the audience.
Did they, though?
And tbf to you anon I don’t know if it’s clear what their intentions are with Will from the show alone, hero! Will and villain! Will alike. From where I am villain! Will takes only came about after it was confirmed by the Duffers that Will would be the focus of season five, and for me that’s also when I began theorizing about his bigger role in the show. I do have some evidence from the show to jumpstart this idea although without that confirmation from the writers it would be very easy to assume that Will would be relegated to Vecna-radar-side-character while all of the heavy narrative lifting would be given to El again.
And tbh I think that the Duffs wanted to put out a statement saying that Will was the focus for s5 as marketing but also as a way to cover their asses for how Will was treated in season 4. They know that confirming their first actual gay character to be gay in a season where he is pushed into a romantic side plot where it appears on the surface to be used as a platform for the main hetero couple to stand on looks very bad, so they wanted to get ahead of some of the criticism by saying “Hey! Don’t worry because he’s going to be the focus of season 5!” And I get it because I know that this is a set up to lead to byler happy ending and they definitely want the audience to be on Will’s side, and they have to wait several years in order for the audience to see the full picture, although admittedly there was probably a better way to go about doing this.
I think that not expecting Will to be a hero is a pitfall of the writers but at the same time I don’t think that there is much in the show to suggest that Will would go evil. Yes the connection to Vecna is clear, and I expect that relationship to be fleshed out next season, although Will doesn’t have a vengeful mindset, and there isn’t any character trait of his to suggest that he would turn evil. If Will is possessed again (which they likely won’t do since it’s repetitive) then it’s not really him being the evil one, he’s just a puppet for the actual evil guy.
I think that people’s minds go to villain Will because, well, they don’t really know what to expect from a Will-lead season. Will can’t be the proverbial hero or “chosen one” because that’s El’s title, and like I said from my original post I can’t really blame the audience for thinking this. So I don’t know if villain! Will is really an actual intention from the writers or another example of a writing pitfall mixed with ignorance from certain audience members.

I once got a meme saying ” If you think you have made bad choices in life, remember there were 13 publishers who rejected the manuscript for Harry Potter.”
13 publishers rejected the Harry Potter series before JK Rowling landed a deal with Bloomsbury. Approximately 15 networks also, rejected Stranger thing before it landed a Netflix deal. Lets just take this moment to consider, the last time people in positions of power rejected art because the protagonists were children, or the heroes were nerds and underdogs, they lost on Harry Potter. And now Stranger Things.
|Spoiler Alert|
There’s no better way to say it. If you thought the first season was crazy, this one will blow you away. Let me just say this. Stranger things 2, is a thing of pure beauty. It’s bigger, better, weirder and more amazing than any of us imagined.  And so much better than season 1.
The Duffer brothers know how to play their cards right. From casting Winona Ryder to discovering Millie Bobby Brown to making all of us nerds look good, they have built a solid foundation in the first season. The second season, build upon the story and oh, the way they build it up! Also can you believe how grown up the kids look, suddenly?
Tumblr media
It’s rare for a TV series to come out of the gate as self-assured and as well-received as Stranger Things did, and even rarer for it to be able to maintain that into a second season. But somehow, The Duffer Brothers have again managed to wield their particular alchemy and create a follow-up worthy of the hype created by its predecessor.
Building the story arc much better and much stronger than it was in the first season, this time, the story is much comfortable with letting all the characters explore their own lives and their own pursuits.
Let’s begin with the Music. Oh my god. The soundtrack for the second season is so integral to the storytelling. The makes have used songs and music to emotionally manipulate us. There are moments where you are on the edge of your seat, biting your nails or just sitting aghast as to what just happened. And that was just the music.
We finally have Will as the center of the story this season. Noah Schnapp is a revelation. After being barely more than a prop last year, he does a ton of heavy-lifting here. Some truly horrifying things happen to Will this season, and Schnapp takes a huge step forward with his performance, just like Bobby Brown did last year with Eleven.
Mike who was the lead last season is on more of a back seat. He talks to Eleven every day over the walkie-talkie, counting off how many days it’s been since he last saw her. He’s bitter over losing her and misses her more than the other boys do. One of the things I wish they would have done was give Mike more to do. He spends a lot of his time at Will’s side, and although he makes some important discoveries here and there throughout the season, he’s far from playing the central role he had in season 1, which is unfortunate given Finn Wolfhard’s amazing acting chops. There are definitely some emotional peaks for Mike, but he’s in the background far too often.
The emotional quotient has certainly gone up with the second season. The kids have aged, they have gone through an ordeal most 11 year old don’t think of. They are not only grown up but also matured. A Harry Potter parellel again. You see these kids grow up. Every character shares a bond with will make your heart melt; Will and Jonathan, Hopper and Eleven, Mike and Eleven, Lucas and Max, Dustin with Dárt and the most unexpected of them all, Steve and Dustin. In addition to finding five kid actors who can nail every emotional beat, the show’s taken cast members who are just chameleons aging into their parts like it is the easiest thing they have done; effortless.
Is there a better cast role than David Harbor as Hopper? Every single expression and movement he makes has weight to it. The scenes with him and Eleven are so heartbreaking and emotionally charged. Those two play off each other better than anyone could have hoped.
Also can we talk about just how awesome Steve was in this season? He and Dustin are a pair I never thought would happen but What A Team. Also, he finally revealed the secret to his superb hair.
I can’t help but draw parallels to Harry Potter’s leglimency and the connection between Will and the Shadow Monster. The monster can read through Will. It goes all the way from spying to a hint of exorcism. Will’s character goes through so much horror in this season but its Joyce who shines brighter than before. Very early on we know it’s not only Will who’s going through what can be called PTSD. Everyone is paranoid. Joyce, all the more so. She won’t let WIll out of her sight. She needs him in front of her eyes to know she’s safe and as usual, she does that with all the tact and grace of an over-concerned parent. She is the badass mother who will not sit quiet and let anything hurt her children. And if needed she wont hesitate to kill.
Many would disagree here but I personally loved the seventh episode. An arc from the Hawkins storyline, this episode has none of the original cast. Eleven spent all her life looking for a home, first trying to understand what home was and then looking for a place to call home. Let’s just say, its absolutely beautiful to see how she goals all around, follows all the hints and clues,  listens to anyone who would help on what their take on a home was. She tried them all. But the beauty lies in how after all that she chooses to come back again to realise home is exactly where she was.
The arc is an a whole new insight into Eleven’s character development. It was a risk and Im so glad they took it. But more importantly, the Duffers know when to bring their many splintered storylines and characters back together. The season’s final two episodes are a long process of reweaving everything that’s been frayed, and when the season’s coda (which takes place during a Christmas season that seems to exist in the middle of summer) unfurls at a school dance, there’s a distinct sense of time having passed, lessons having been learned, and kids growing up.
That scene where Joyce, Jonathan and Mike all recount intimate stories with Will to break through the Smoke Monster’s hold on him? Perfection. Mike and Eleven’s reunion was beautiful and the “Should I Stay or Should I Go” montage is a standout sequence. Watch Will’s family perform a space heater-assisted exorcism on him and tell me you don’t get the heebie-jeebies (people still use that term, right?). Watch our heroes split up into three teams to beat back the Upside Down and tell me you don’t think that’s just plain cool.
This season is way more fast paced than the previous one. While the makers hit the ground running, they are very careful not to go too fast and leave a stone unturned. They know what got them here: strong characters and detailed storytelling. By the end of the season, all the storylines converge in a realistic and satisfying way. The new characters make sense, and and and THEY GOT ONE OF THE ORIGINAL GOONIES! The writing is stronger than season one as well. While there are plenty of 80’s references and callbacks, they are all natural and welcome.
What wouldn’t I give to live in a time when Dolly Parton and Duran Duran were the in thing!
Stranger Things 2 lives up to the hype. It delivers, in spades. There are moments of pure enthrallment. It never gets stale. It’s never boring. Trust me when I say you’ll binge it, it will keep you on your toes, it will keep you waiting, excited, it will make you laugh and cry and fall in love and just like that, when it’s over, it will also make you hate yourself for binging it.
One last thing.
They really don’t like characters whose names begin with B do they?

THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF THE WORLD
Slowly the door opened again and out there came a figure as tall and straight as the girl's but not so slender. It carried no light but light seemed to come from it. As it came nearer, Lucy saw that it was like an old man. His silver beard came down to his bare feet in front and his saver hair hung down to his heels behind and his robe appeared to be made from the fleece of silver sheep. He looked so mild and grave that once more all the travellers rose to their feet and stood in silence. But the old man came on without speaking to the travellers and stood on the other side of the table opposite to his daughter. Then both of them held up their arms before them and turned to face the east. In that position the began to sing. I wish I could write down the song, but one who was present could remember it. Lucy said afterwards that it was high, almost shrill, but very beautiful, cold kind of song, an early morning kind of song. And they sang, the grey clouds lifted from the eastern sky a the white patches 'grew bigger and bigger till it was white, and the sea began to shine like silver. And long afterwards (but those two sang all the time) the east began to turn red and at last, unclouded, the sun came up out the sea and its long level ray shot down the length of the table on the gold and silver sand on the Stone Knife. Once or twice before, the Narnians had wondered whether the sun at its rising did not look bigger in these seas than it had looked at home. This time they we certain. There was no mistaking it. And the brightness its ray on the dew and on the table was far beyond an. morning brightness they had ever seen. And as Edmu said afterwards, "Though lots of things happened on that trip which sound more exciting, that moment was really the most exciting." For now they knew that they had truly come to the beginning of the End of the World. Then something seemed to be flying at them out of the very centre of the rising sun: but of course one couldn't look steadily in that direction to make sure. But presently the air became full of voices - voices which took up same song that the Lady and her Father were singing, but in far wilder tones and in a language which no one knew And soon after that the owners of these voices could be seen. They were birds, large and white, and they came hundreds and thousands and alighted on everything; the grass, and the pavement, on the table, on your shoulders, your hands, and your head, till it looked as heavy snow had fallen. For, like snow, they not only make everything white but blurred and blunted all shapes. But Lucy, looking out from between the wings of the birds that covered her, saw one bird fly to the Old Man with something in its beak that looked like a little fruit, unless it was a little live coal, which it might have been, for it was too bright to look at. And the bird laid it in the Old Man's mouth. Then the birds stopped their singing and appeared to be very busy about the table. When they rose from it again everything on the table that could be eaten or drunk had disappeared. These birds rose from their meal in their thousands and hundreds and carried away all the things that could not be eaten or drunk, such as bones, rinds, and shells, and took their flight back to the rising sun. But now, because they were not singing, the whir of their wings seemed to set the whole air a-tremble. And there was the table pecked clean and empty, and the three old Lords of Narnia still fast asleep. Now at last the Old Man turned to the travellers and bade them welcome. "Sir," said Caspian, "will you tell us how to undo the enchantment which holds these three Narnian Lords asleep." "I will gladly tell you that, my son," said the Old Man. "To break this enchantment you must sail to the World's End, or as near as you can come to it, and you must come back having left at least one of your company behind." "And what must happen to that one?" asked Reepicheep. "He must go on into the utter east and never return into the world." "That is my heart's desire," said Reepicheep. "And are we near the World's End now, Sir?" asked Caspian. "Have you any knowledge of the seas and lands further east than this?" "I saw them long ago," said the Old Man, "but it was from a great height. I cannot tell you such things as sailor need to know." "Do you mean you were flying in the air?" Eustace blurted out. "I was a long way above the air, my son," replied the Old Man. "I am Ramandu. But I see that you stare at on another and have not heard this name. And no wonder, for the days when I was a star had ceased long before any of you knew this world, and all the constellations have changed." "Golly," said Edmund under his breath. "He's a retired star." "Aren't you a star any longer?" asked Lucy. "I am a star at rest, my daughter," answered Ramandu "When I set for the last time, decrepit and old beyond all that you can reckon, I was carried to this island. I am not so old now as I was then. Every morning a bird brings me a fire-berry from the valleys in the Sun, and each fire-berry takes away a little of my age. And when I have become as young as the child that was born yesterday, then I shall take my rising again (for we are at earth's eastern rim) and once more tread the great dance." "In our world," said Eustace, "a star is a huge ball of flaming gas." "Even in your world, my son, that is not what a star is but only what it is made of. And in this world you ave already met a star, for I think you have been with Coriakin." "Is he a retired star, too?" said Lucy. "Well, not quite the same," said Ramandu. "It was not quite as a rest than he was set to govern the Duffers. You might call it a punishment. He might have shone for thousands of years more in the southern winter sky if all had gone well." "What did he do, Sir?" asked Caspian. "My son," said Ramandu, "it is not for you, a son of Adam, to know what faults a star can commit. But come, we waste time in such talk. Are you yet resolved? Will you sail further east and come again, leaving one to return no more, and so break the enchantment? Or will you sail westward?" "Surely, Sire," said Reepicheep, "there is no question about that? It is very plainly part of our quest to rescue these three lords from enchantment." "I think the same, Reepicheep," replied Caspian. "And even if it were not so, it would break my heart not to go as near the World's End as the Dawn Treader will take us. But I am thinking of the crew. They signed on to seek the seven lords, not to reach the rim of the Earth. If we sail east from here we sail to find the edge, the utter east. And not one knows how far it is. They're brave fellows, but I set signs that some of them are weary of the voyage and long to have our prow pointing to Narnia again. I don't think should take them further without their knowledge an consent. And then there's the poor Lord Rhoop. He's broken man." "My son," said the star, "it would be no use, even though you wished it, to sail for the World's End with men unwilling or men deceived. That is not how great unenchantments are achieved. They must know where they go and why. But who is this broken man you speak of?" Caspian told Ramandu the story of Rhoop. "I can give him what he needs most," said Ramandu. "I this island there is sleep without stint or measure, and sleep in which no faintest footfall of a dream was ever heard. Let him sit beside these other three and drink oblivion till you return." "Oh, do let's do that, Caspian," said Lucy. "I'm sure its just what he would love." At that moment they were interrupted by the sound of many feet and voices: Drinian and the rest of the ship company were approaching. They halted in surprise whey they saw Ramandu and his daughter; and then, because these were obviously great people, every man uncovered his head. Some sailors eyed the empty dishes and flagons on the table with regret. "My lord," said the King to Drinian, "pray send two men back to the Dawn Treader with a message to the Lord Rhoop. Tell him that the last of his old shipmates are here asleep - a sleep without dreams - and that he can share it." When this had been done, Caspian told the rest to sit down and laid the whole situation before them. When he had finished there was a long silence and some whispering until presently the Master Bowman got to his feet, and said: "What some of us have been wanting to ask for a long time, your Majesty, is how we're ever to get home when we do turn, whether we turn here or somewhere else. It's been west and north-west winds all the way, barring an occasional calm. And if that doesn't change, I'd like to know what hopes we have of seeing Narnia again. There's not much chance of supplies lasting while we row all that way. "That's landsman's talk," said Drinian. "There's always a prevailing west wind in these seas all through the late summer, and it always changes after the New Year. We'll have plenty of wind for sailing westward; more than we shall like from all accounts." "That's true, Master," said an old sailor who was a Galmian by birth. "You get some ugly weather rolling up from the east in January and February. And by your leave, Sire, if I was in command of this ship I'd say to winter here and begin the voyage home in March." "What'd you eat while you were wintering here?" asked Eustace. "This table," said Ramandu, "will be filled with a king's feast every day at sunset." "Now you're talking!" said several sailors. "Your Majesties and gentlemen and ladies all," said Rynelf, "there's just one thing I want to say. There's not one of us chaps as was pressed on this journey. We're volunteers. And there's some here chat are looking very hard at that table and thinking about king's feasts who were talking very loud about adventures on the day we sailed from Cair Paravel, and swearing they wouldn't come home till we'd found the end of the world. And there were some standing on the quay who would have given all they had to come with us. It was thought a finer thing then to have a cabin-boy's berth on the Dawn Treader than to wear a knight's belt. I don't know if you get the hang of what I'm saying. But what I mean is that I think chaps who set out like us will look as silly as - as those Dufflepuds - if we come home and say we got to the beginning of the world's end and hadn't the heart to go further." Some of the sailors cheered at this but some said that that was all very well. "This isn't going to be much fun," whispered Edmund to Caspian. "What are we to do if half those fellows hang back?" "Wait," Caspian whispered back. "I've still a card to play." "Aren't you going to say anything, Reep?" whispered Lucy. "No. Why should your Majesty expect it?" answered Reepicheep in a voice that most people heard. "My owns plans are made. While I can, I sail east in the Dawn Treader. When she fails me, I paddle east in my coracle. When she sinks, I shall swim east with my four paws. And when I can swim no longer, if I have not reached Aslan's country, or shot over the edge of the world in some vast cataract, I shall sink with my nose to the sunrise and Peepiceek will be head of the talking mice in Narnia." "Hear, hear," said a sailor, "I'll say the same, barring the bit about the coracle, which wouldn't bear me." He added in a lower voice, "I'm not going to be outdone by a mouse." At this point Caspian jumped to his feet. "Friends," he said, "I think you have not quite understood our purpose. You talk as if we had come to you with our hat in our hand, begging for shipmates. It isn't like that at all. We and our royal brother and sister and their kinsman and Sir Reepicheep, the good knight, and the Lord Drinian have an errand to the world's edge. It is our pleasure to choose from among such of you as are willing those whom we deem worthy of so high an enterprise. We have not said that any can come for the asking. That is why we shall now command the Lord Drinian and Master Rhince to consider carefully what men among you are the hardest in battle, the most skilled seamen, the purest in blood, the most loyal to our person, and the cleanest of life and manners; and to give their names to us in a schedule." He paused and went on in a quicker voice, "Aslan's mane!" he exclaimed. "Do you think that the privilege of seeing the last things is to be bought for a song? Why, every man that comes with us shall bequeath the title of Dawn Treader to all his descendants, and when we land at Cair Paravel on the homeward voyage he shall have either gold or land enough to make him rich all his life. Now - scatter over the island, all of you. In half an hour's time I shall receive the names that Lord Drinian brings me." There was rather a sheepish silence and then the crew made their bows and moved away, one in this direction and one in that, but mostly in little knots or bunches, talking. "And now for the Lord Rhoop," said Caspian. But turning to the head of the table he saw that Rhoop was already there. He had arrived, silent and unnoticed, while the discussion was going on, and was seated beside the Lord Argoz. The daughter of Ramandu stood beside him as if she had just helped him into his chair; Ramandu stood behind him and laid both his hands on Rhoop's grey head. Even in daylight a faint silver light came from the hands of the star. There was a smile on Rhoop's haggard face. He held out one of his hands to Lucy and the other to Caspian. For a moment it looked as if he were going to say something. Then his smile brightened as if he were feeling) some delicious sensation, a long sigh of contentment came from his lips, his head fell forward, and he slept. "Poor Rhoop," said Lucy. "I am glad. He must have had terrible times." ' "Don't let's even think of it," said Eustace. Meanwhile Caspian's speech, helped perhaps by some magic of the island, was having just the effect he intended. A good many who had been anxious enough to get out of the voyage felt quite differently about being left out of it. And of course whenever any one sailor announced that he had made up his mind to ask for permission to sail, the ones who hadn't said this felt that they were getting fewer and more uncomfortable. So that before the half-hour was nearly over several people were positively "sucking up" to Drinian and Rhince (at least that was what they called it at my school) to get a good report. And soon there were only three left who didn't want to go, and those three were trying very hard to persuade others to stay with them. And very shortly after that there was only one left. And in they end he began to be afraid of being left behind all on his own and changed his mind. At the end of the half-hour they all came trooping back to Aslan's Table and stood at one end while Drinian and Rhince went and sat down with Caspian and made their report; and Caspian accepted all the man but that one who'd had changed his mind at the last moment. His name was Pittencream and he stayed on the Island of the Star all the time the others were away looking for the World's End, and he very much wished he had gone with them. He wasn't the sort of man who could enjoy talking to Ramandu and Ramandu's daughter (nor they to him), and it rained a good deal, and though there was a wonderful feast on the Table every night, he didn't very much enjoy it. He said it gave him the creeps sitting there alone (and in the rain as likely as not) with those four Lords asleep at the end of the Table. And when the others returned he felt so out of things that he deserted on the voyage home at the Lone Islands, and went and lived in Calormen, where he told wonderful stories about his adventures at the End of the World, until at last he came to believe them himself. So you may say, in a sense, that he lived happily ever after. But he could never bear mice. That night they all ate and drank together at the great table between the pillars where the feast was magically renewed: and next morning the Dawn Treader set sail once more just when the great birds had come and gone again. "Lady," said Caspian, "I hope to speak with you again when I have broken the enchantments." And Ramandu's daughter looked at him and smiled.
