Name ask for Jacob, tweaked - why did you keep it Jacob? [ellie-e-marcovitz 😊]

Honestly? I hadn't even considered using any other first name for Carewyn's brother besides Jacob. (It wasn't until joining the community here that I even knew some players had other names for their "Jacobs!") I thought "Jacob Cromwell" had a nice ring to it, and honestly, even the meanings of the name (either "to follow," "to supplant," or "to overreach" in Hebrew) really seemed to paint an interesting picture for his character. Because Jacob Cromwell does overreach a lot -- he's so talented that that's bred arrogance, so he frequently gets over his head. He is also the type who could supplant others, again, because of that aforementioned magical talent: he was more than able to both dethrone Dueling Club champions and run academic circles around his classmates at school. And arguably most of all, Jacob is the type to follow after Carewyn and have her back in all circumstances. Plus it provided Lane Cromwell a really cute nickname to use for her son: "(her) little Blue Jay" or just "Jay!" (Blue Jays symbolize communication, curiosity and confidence, all of which really suit Jacob! If nothing else, the boy rarely shuts up!! 😂)

Evan is both Jacob's father's name and Jacob's middle name. It's also Hebrew and can mean either "God is gracious," "youth" or "born of yew." I honestly just picked it randomly because it sounded nice next to "Jacob," but it ended up making for a fun parallel between Carewyn and her Prefect Felix that they both had less-than-ideal fathers named Evan.

Cromwell, as touched on in Carewyn's post, means "crooked stream" -- and yeah, that definitely suits the messed-up likes of the Cromwell Clan.

..and no unfortunately Warden wasn't with Rook before Weisshaupt, but she'll definitely be very proud when told that Rook did punch the first warden🤣

kicking my feet.. in the were wyvern crow spite au.. does he allways look that way or is it a spite influence thing.. how does it play out with the rest of the dellamortes and veilguard seeing that ?

it was interesting to think how the quest (bloodbath) would work here. illario was caught off guard and didn't expect lucanis to turn into... this. so rook had to do something and quickly, because Illario didn't fight back well and his head was about to be chewed off. so rook stabbed the wyvern in the thigh and provoked it to attack him instead. he didn't run far - spite pinned him to a column and now wanted to bite his face off. rook tried to get through to spite and he almost succeeded, but illario came to his senses and stopped spite with his blood magic stuff. he said the same thing and left. fucker.

transformation scheme!! when spite is angry and wants to talk to rook, but lucanis has the strength to resist, he shifts into a humanoid crow-wyvern-like creature. they share the body and sometimes spite can do and say things, but basically everything is under lucanis' control. if luсanis has no strength to resist - a wyvern. if spite calms down, then feathers and everything else slowly disappears within half an hour or two. and when spite gets furious and lucanis can't resist it, he instantly turns into a full wyvern. the transformation is uhh unpleasant, with crunching bones and groans of pain, i won’t draw that. although... who knows. 🗿🗿🗿🗿🚬🚬 wyvern spite won't just turn back into lucanis. he either has to get bored (which is unlikely) and lucanis turns back into his usual self, or rook has to convince spite or bribe him with coffee beans - then it's quite possible.

i haven’t thought about other people’s reactions yet. but I don't think it will be positive. 💀💀💀✋ but rook genuinely wants to help lucanis and won't give up on him. cus he likesss himmmm

The amount of research and dedication is really amazing!! about ludovica's gf, do you mind if I come in with my vision as well? I think she'd be a really fluffy dog, maybe with curly hair. so my mind went to the portuguese water dog; but then i thought of two versions: long hair and short hair. so i drew both (tried my best to make her look like a lady and not a grandpa haha)

I doooooo her name is Saga and she's a nomad Worker Drone!

Saga travels light and only carries small or rare treasures like CPU chips, ammunition, rare metals, or information for trade. Her main weapon is a collapsible harpoon fitted with a small vial of DD acid; not effective against a DD but enough to keep other thief WDs away.

She stays a few days in a settlement before moving on to the next one. She's had a few close calls with DDs or bandits enough to learn to scramble her path, mask her trail effectively, and only travel alone.

The name ask for Ana, please?

Anastasia is Greek for "resurrection." I partially chose the name (as well as the nickname Ana's family uses for her, "Anya") as a reference to the famous Russian Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov, who was my very first historical hyper-fixation as a kid after seeing Don Bluth's Anastasia and wanting to learn about the real person and her family. The other reason has to do more with Ana's middle and last name, which we'll get to in a minute.

Marian is a Hebrew name with many meanings -- "rebellious," "beloved," "grace," and even "star of the sea." I actually partially chose the name as a reference to @cursebreakerfarrier's HPMA character Robin Isherwood (get it? Robin Hood and Maid Marian? LOL), who ended up being close friends with Ana. The other reason, though, again, has to do with Ana's last name (I promise, it'll all come together in a second!).

Read means "red," which is one of Ana's house colors, since she's a Gryffindor, but this name was actually chosen as a reference to the infamous female pirate Mary Read, who is one of my favorite figures from one of my favorite historical periods to study, the Golden Age of Piracy! In fact, Ana's whole name references both Mary and her similarly infamous "partner-in-crime" Anne Bonny -- "Anastasia Marian Read." As an icing on that cake, Ana's mother is even named Bonnie!
