The Dragonborn does not speak at the council, for all the trouble she went to arranging it.
She sits in a straight-backed chair at the head of the table, her sword in its scabbard resting against the stone. (She was the only one permitted to carry a weapon into the assembly.) Lydia, her sharp-faced housecarl, is seated to her left.
It’s the Dragonborn’s council, for all intents and purposes – it may not have been her idea, but it was she who petitioned for it, persuading Arngeir and then the war-leaders and the dignitaries they dragged with them. It was for her sake alone (Dragonborn, Ysmir, legend come to life) that some agreed to attend at all.
But when the council finally begins, kings and warriors crowded around the long stone table, she is silent. An argument begins immediately, Ulfric objecting to Thalmor presence within the negotiations and Tullius objecting to his objection, and it splinters off into something thorny and onerous. It takes half an hour for discussion to begin properly – and then someone says something and they’re off again, everyone around the table coiled tight and wary, and the Dragonborn stares into the middle distance and offers no thoughts.
It doesn’t stop, the talk of trading holds like game pieces and demands that the armies’ leaders be compensated for massacres that never touched them. Arngeir tries to quiet them, and Esbern’s desperate passion riles them up, and when half of the room has leapt to its feet and voices echo off High Hrothgar’s sacred, watching stones, the Dragonborn finally speaks –
Which is to say, she claps her hands over her ears and spits a Word that rips the voices from their lips and the room is finally, mercifully silent.
Her housecarl, the only one who does not seem startled by this, places a hand on the back of her chair and says, “Thane?”
The Dragonborn uncurls, removes her hands from her head, lays them flat on the table.
“I don’t understand,” she says, slow, as though the words are weighed down. She isn’t looking into the middle distance; her eyes shift from face to face like she is trying to meet everyone’s gaze at once.
Galmar Stone-fist, standing by a chair to her right, claws at his fur-lined collar. “We have –”
“Let the Dragonborn speak,” Lydia interrupts, voice and eyes steely. Galmar’s face twists, but he falls silent.
The Dragonborn presses her hands into the stone tabletop.
“Do you believe,” she says, “that the dragons will leave your side alone?”
On the other side of the table, General Tullius raises a sceptical brow. He leans back into his chair. “If you have a point, then make it. We don’t have time for more nonsense.”
Her eyes snap to him. Lydia repeats, “Let her speak.”
The Dragonborn holds up a hand.
“Do you believe,” she enunciates carefully, “that the dragons care anything for your war? None of this matters.”
“On the contrary –”
“Alduin will tear your cities down,” she tells them. Her eyes are eerie dark as holes too deep to track, and even her housecarl is staring at her now. “Only I can stop it. Until you get out of my way, you are fighting over rubble.”
There is, again, silence. Arngeir is visibly thankful for the reprieve; High Hrothgar’s walls, unused as they are to such uproar, can once again, if briefly, know peace.
Ulfric stood up sometime in the yelling; he has not sat back down. He is leaning a little on the stone back of his chair as he says, “You called us here in hopes of a ceasefire, Dragonborn. Truces aren’t made of empty air. Terms have to be negotiated.”
The Dragonborn stares him down. Her palms remain flat on the table; her sword stays resting against her chair.
“But you aren’t negotiating with him,” she says, the words still heavy, still slow. “You’re negotiating terms with me.”
There is a pause. The watchful stones soak in the silence.
“With you,” the Legate replies.
The Dragonborn’s face is blank. “If you truce, I will fight Alduin.” She speaks the weighed-down words as though they are the most natural thing in the world. “If you don’t, I won’t. Your cities will fall as Helgen, and you will die afraid. Those are my terms.”
Lydia places a hand, palm up, on the table. The Dragonborn covers it with her own, mimicking the pose of the wrist, the splay of the fingers.
“Now,” the Dragonborn announces, her voice a laggard echo of Arngeir’s opening speech, “who would like to begin the negotiations?”
(There is no shouting during the rest of the peace council.)

Esbern, as they make their way through the Karhspire caverns to Sky Haven Temple in "Alduin's Wall": How long are you gonna let her do that?
Leara Rose-blade: She’ll figure it out eventually.

Esbern: Are you paying attention, Delphine? You might just learn something of your own history.
Allora (my LBD): She doesn't have the patience to listen.
Delphine: Excuse me? What did you just say?
Allora: See? No listening skills whatsoever.

Season Unending: Anara
Delphine: There's just one thing we need to talk about
Anara: We got nothing to talk about. Not now.
Delphine: We didn't come all this way just for you to shut us out.
Anara: May I remind you that you were not invited. You invited yourself. We are all tired from this stupid peace council. I need to go home.
Esbern: Look, Dragonborn this is very important.
Anara: I don't want to hear it. My job as the Dragonborn is to defeat Alduin. That means going to Sovngarde without my friends and family.
Delphine: Family?
Anara: Yeah. Family. I have 2 kids waiting for me and my wife back home. We haven't seen them for a while. Speaking off...Jarl Balgruuf?
Jarl Balgruuf: Yes?
Anara: I'll send you a letter when I'm on my way to Whiterun. If you don't mind, I'd like to see my children and be with my friends one last time.
Jarl Balgruuf: Of course. That gives us more time to prepare anyway. Cherish them while you can. You're going to need it... just in case.
Anara: Look, I'm going to Sovngarde with not knowing if I'll come back. I don't need another task until I come back. Do me a favor... leave me alone. You can tell me whatever task it is when I return
Esbern: Look I think-
Lucien: By the Divines, she said when she'll return! She just finished telling both sides to stop fighting! I mean, who has that kind of patience. I know I don't! I wanted her to shout them off High Hrothgar for crying out loud!
Lucifer: I agree. It took everything in my power not to attack Ulfric.
Xelzaz: Personally, it was Delphine. But Lucien is right. The fact that there was no blood bath was a win.
Delphine: Fine... you're right. Go. Be with your family. Just come back when you're done.
Anara: Love?
Remi: Yes dear?
Anara: Let's go home.
Inigo: Yes. I'd say we earned some rest.
Thogra: Hey! Anara?
Anara: Yes-ow!
Thogra: Don't talk nonsense. You'll crush that lizard. I know you will. If you need me. Call me and I'll be there.
Inigo: Don't forget the summoning spell!
Lucifer: Me too! I want to be there!
Thogra: With our strength and steel. Alduin will sure fall to our blades.

WIP Wednesday 💛
Wednesday again, and I'm on time this week!!!
More drawings of my Elder Scrolls OCs, because I haven't done any writing this week. Ivetta, Maewynne, and Aevra, who I believe are my last few Dragonborn on my list of characters to draw! I've just got a handful of OCs left to go in terms of sketches before I move on to neatening them up and adding colour....
As with previous times, more details about them under the read more!
Also been tagged by the lovely @thequeenofthewinter and @throughtrialbyfire since I posted 💛
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ivetta
A member of the Nightingales and Guild Master of the Thieves Guild, Ivetta thrives in the shadows. Even her identity as Dragonborn is shrouded in mystery, with only a select few in Skyrim knowing purely down to coincidence or necessity. A stark difference to her upbringing in the high society of Solitude.
The entire reason that she no longer finds herself in those circles is purely because she hated what was demanded of her. Sure, she knew how to maintain a business ledger and had sat in on a handful of deals and witnessed agreements being made during her youth, but she was always more interested in seeing what happened behind the scenes. Seeing who greased the palms of who, watching as septims were exchanged behind the scenes, and witnessed the employees who had a bone to pick selling goods under the table at their employer's expense. It always intrigued her. It irritated her parents to no end, in particular when it involved business dealings to do with her family... even more so when it involved her uncovering their plans to try and marry her off so that she was out of the way, out of Solitude.
Ivetta decided to take herself out of the way without any strings attached, but not after setting things in motion to make her family's business crumble beneath their feet - finances in ruin, ledgers which didn't add up, and alerting guards to some very illegal practices. She ensured that she couldn't be implicated by relocating over the border before it could come to fruition, into Cyrodiil, and only returning to Skyrim when she caught wind of her family's business collapsing.
Of course, when she returned, she got caught up in that Imperial ambush...
With time, she found herself in Riften, following her encounter with Brynjolf when seeking Esbern, and enjoying the thrill of carrying out his little scheme. She then joined the Thieves Guild, and gradually found herself the Guild Master and Nightingale after unveiling Mercer Frey's treachery.
Unfortunately, she finds herself in the line of sight of the Black-Briar family... Hemming Black-Briar, in particular. And he knows exactly who she was and is.
Maewynne
Maewynne is the Listener of the Dark Brotherhood and the Dragonborn... though to the population of Skyrim, the Dragonborn is an imposing Nord warrior who wants to live in solitude (not the city) thanks to little whispers which she left in the right ears - not a Bosmer with personal space issues brought on through her clashes with the Penitus Oculatus following her attempts on the Emperor's life.
At one point, after the Dark Brotherhood have properly re-established themselves in Dawnstar after their near-eradication, she finds herself... bored. Far too many contracts over petty squabbles, and hardly anything interesting. So when she gets approached by somebody with a proposal not to kill, but to set a chain of events into motion to bring about the downfall of somebody who had been a thorn in her side and a threat to one of the Brotherhood's closest associates, the Thieves Guild... who was she to say no?
Aevra
For most of her life, Aevra had been loyal. Loyal to her Empire, loyal to Skyrim, loyal to her duties as a soldier. She never gave anything less than her best, even when she was tired, bruised, and bloody. Her family had served since the Oblivion Crisis, and it made her proud to fight for the Empire. She fought through the Great War, and continued to serve the Empire ever since. She never found herself in the highest of ranks though, instead preferring being active and on the ground.
But one day, that changed. She participated in the ambush to capture Ulfric Stormcloak - a man she still vividly remembered fighting alongside back in the past, knowing full well that he would not remember her for she was little more than one of many new soldiers at the time. During the night, after having stopped on their way to the border, she was responsible for getting some more firewood... and as she did so, she caught sight of somebody in the trees. An elf - specifically an Altmer. Before she could call for them to come out of hiding... she found herself seeing little more than red.
When the redness faded away, she was horrified to find herself being apprehended by her fellow soldiers. Blood coated her hands, bodies were scattered around, and the axe she had been using to chop wood was discarded on the ground some distance away, clearly having been used as a weapon. She knew that she had been under the influence of a spell, but her allies saw only one thing - she was attacking them. A traitor. There were even whispers that she was a Stormcloak in disguise, even as she protested and tried to explain herself as she was arrested and taken to join the other prisoners set for the executioner's block.
Being saved from death by Alduin was something that she didn't know whether to consider a blessing or a curse, but she knew that she needed to prove her innocence when she caught sight of Hadvar, one of her fellow soldiers, about to return to Solitude after their escape from Helgen.
Even as she found herself in the spotlight after learning that she was the Dragonborn, no matter what she said or did, she was unable to persuade the Empire that she was innocent of murdering several fellow soldiers, and that it had no doubt been part of a Thalmor machination. She feared being arrested that much, she had to get Lydia to carry out tasks in Imperial-held lands in Skyrim on her behalf (unless it was a dragon attack, in which case she would try to get herself out of there as soon as it was handled).
There were those who heard her out though, who believed in her innocence, thanks to somebody who did remember her from the Great War. But when those people were Stormcloaks, people she had seen as the enemy... she finds herself in a dilemma.

ooh for the ask game I’d love to know Forbidden and/or Honeyside. OC(s) of your choice!
!! thank u!!
Forbidden: If you could choose to betray any Guild Dark Brotherhood style, which would you choose and how? Idk if it counts but I think it would be the Blades for me. Especially with a playthrough more dedicated to the main story it feels very natural to do Delphine's quests and help her rebuild the Blades - plus Sky Haven Temple is such a sick location!! If my character were to destroy the faction, I don't think it would be intentional. The Dragonborn wouldn't join them or help rebuild their ranks with nefarious plans. Delphine and Esbern are quite good at making the player and LDB feel like their goals align 110%. For me it wouldn't be until Delphine demands the death of Paarthurnax. Being told to kill the dragon who has taught them so much would likely dissolve any type of friendship they've formed with the Blades. Their refusal to speak to the Dragonborn or cooperate with them in any way until they meet this demand would probably build over time, changing from frustration into rage until their blade drew not for Paarthurnax but those attempting to control the Last Dragonborn. At least it would be a conclusion to the story, instead of an unfinished quest that lingers in my log.
Honeyside: Which house did you buy/build first? Is is still your first choice? Feel like Breezehome is everyone's first house lol. I don't really have any strong feelings for it these days, Whiterun is more of a necessary pit stop to me. Saryn does end up living in Honeyside after the events of the Thieves Guild questline. It's probably my favorite home from the base game - i love the layout, especially the back porch that allows you to move from Riften to the rest of Skyrim so seamlessly. I love a big body of water, and the eternal autumn vibes of the Rift seem like the perfect spot to sit on a chilly morning and sip a hot beverage. Vyrth will most likely end up building a home instead of purchasing, I think it'll be Lakeview Manor. There's something so peaceful about the location of this home, having the thick forests to one side and a view of the lake to the North. You just know the air is crisp as hell out there.

Asfkghjkl please please give the deets on Baldur (only if you wanna)
uhmmm sure i can hopefully it will be what u want
>uses he/him pronouns and mostly masculine terms so i guess i'd put him closer to the boy side of nb?? gender is hard i think if you asked him he'd say "i'm a guy??? i think??? i guess???? something like that. definitely not a woman"
>uses primarily one handed weapons. knows a bit of archery and also good with a shield. id apologize for giving so many of my skyrim ocs archery if archery wasnt such a useful fucking skill
>for his bg i didn't actually think it thru LMAO he is just on the streets most of his childhood so he learned to steal. this gets ppl to treat him like shit from an early age bc no one wants a scrappy thief running around your home or business potentially stealing from you
>very good looking. other characters are transphobic abt his appearance now but fuck them i love my pretty boys and will make pretty boy ocs until i die probably.
>has faced a lot of SA both pre and post transition and is pretty traumatized and thats mentioned a lot in the story early on esp disassociation from trauma so it might be triggering. i self projected a Little too hard. he learns to fight to defend himself and refuses to die
>obv not every single character was a horrible transphobe but baldur also like to keep to himself due to being burned before and theres also a lot of casual transphobia. he's a smaller guy rather than the typical buff nord warrior (a significant portion of that comes from malnutrition growing up though)
>he makes it all the way to sovngarde actually despite how frankly ill prepared he was
>like i need to stress even with the "blades" backing him and him doing active recruitment for them and getting them to higher numbers than the game allows (for more realism) he isn't taken seriously by most people and was super unprepared. they sent him to get the dragon stone and fight the dragon at the tower bc they were kinda just hoping he'd die. even the blades didn't rly take him seriously except for delphine and esbern and delphine wasn't happy this was their 'hero'. he was kinda scrawny due to not eating properly and not trained well enough. despite this he was a pretty terrifying warrior
>alduin acknowledges this and thinks if he treats THIS dragonborn like a dragon he shouldnt get a miraak situation this time. he gave miraak too much freedom as a priest as far as he is concerned. keep the dragonborn on a tight leash with proper discipline and rewards and he'll hopefully have a good champion on his hands instead.
>i made up some shit for this fic exclusively that is probably not lore friendly. which is dragon's CAN just make oaths they take seriously, but also alduin knows how to etch that oath onto their souls and claim them as his own. breaking the oath can have some dire consequences, but as a benefit you can get stronger and also be brought back from the dead by alduin because alduin is eternal and can't ever really die without seriously destroying time as we know it. normally its uncomfortable and dragons just put up with it but uhhhh baldur likes it a little Too Much
>did i mention this fic gets pretty bdsm? it kinda does. we have soul branding, soul sex i guess???, possessiveness, claiming, probably more im forgetting. alduin learns the joys of a very submissive and compliant sub i guess
>also added is like i said in another ask dragons in this au do just have sex. theyre pretty cautious, prideful creatures though. so usually there is some light combat/wrestling/debating over who is gonna bottom and 'submit'. dragons love dominating after all and who am i to take that from them. they'll do it to blow off steam reinforce hierarchy, for rewards, and also just for fun. dragons don't really need to reproduce and can choose if they get pregnant or not so it serves other functions socially for the most part
>in fact finding two dragons that ACTUALLY reproduce is weirder. they can in this fic but for the most part they don't. having kids with someone requires a level of trust and devotion that dragons seldom like to give up, but it does happen from time to time. those that do are usually mates for life and are pretty exclusive with one another. creation via reproduction is seen as inferior to just shaping the world however you want to (and THAT part is actually lore compliant with tes
>oh yeah and dragons are fucky with gender. they're literally dragons. demi gods to full on gods and cosmic forces of the natural world. what matters is if you're a drake or a jill (god i hate that term but its what we got) and that also informs your duties to time itself. theres drakes that lay eggs and jills with penises. also why dragons vary so much in appearance, they just pick how they wanna look. they don't give a shit. baldur having a vagina absolutely does not phase alduin, nor does his transition--its only right he change his body just as he changes the natural world with his thu'um, its his birthright by akatosh
>i know a lot of the above isnt abt baldur specifically but i hope it can inform you a lot on how his relationship with alduin goes and why it goes that way
>alduin names baldur his champion and doesn't hesitate to start taking care of him. he isn't aware mortals down in skyrim weren't treating him the best yet. he thought they should have been given he is their champion sent by the divines to defeat him according to prophecy yadda yadda so why wouldn't they treat him like a king and outfit him with the best gear they had at their disposal? but baldur well fed, well trained, and geared up is kinda Stupid OP, especially when backed by an army of fire breathing dragons and magic flinging undead. lol. this boy has no problems
>baldur starts conquering cities no problem. the wonders actually being well fed, geared up, and surrounded by colleagues that don't hate you can do
>alduin actually likes having sex with baldur just as much as baldur does with him. alduin theorizes it's because akatosh made baldur for him (to stop him, but same difference in the end), and the dragonborn is the most loyal of his followers so he doesn't really care
>the other dragons get jealous of it though. where is THEIR fun reward. why don't THEY get to fuck the champion. whatever alduin is being nice (by world eater standards) now so they can let it slide
>im actually thinking of alduin having baldur's armor designed after himself. walk up in armor that looks like the scales of akatosh's first born to show how much you belong to him. lol
>does alduin fuck him in a conquered city at one point? i can neither confirm nor deny.

sending you “self”, “mentor” and “future” for everybody… :)c
Self: How is your OC's relationship with themself? Does your OC like who they are? Is there anything about themself that they would change?
Jórunn likes herself well enough. She doesn't think herself perfect by any means but her less 'likable' characteristics have served her well and I don't think she has any desire to change them. That is until her journey as Dragonborn gets underway, and then I think there are a few things about herself she'd change if she could; she probably wishes she were braver, more resilient, less irritable (she hates how quickly she loses her temper sometimes, especially with Raydrin), and she'd choose to be an ordinary human in a heartbeat :(
Raydrin thinks lowly of himself; he has a lot of regrets and often feels as if he is failing to meet the expectations placed on him by his House and family. He wishes he were stronger, that he could take hardship in his stride, that he had more fight in him. These are qualities he really admires in Jórunn.
Mathyas pre-fic had a healthy relationship with himself but his self-image is absolutely shattered over the course of his joining the Brotherhood lmao. He realises what he's capable of when placed in the right circumstances and is repulsed by his inability to adhere to his own moral code. He wishes he were more selfless and honourable.
Cassathra's relationship with herself is mixed in the way that is true of most nineteen-year-olds. There's plenty she likes about herself but there's this underlying insecurity behind everything she says and does. If she could change anything about herself, I think she'd wish that she were less reckless and impulsive and that she'd think more about her actions before taking them.
i'll try n be shorter for these next ones LOL
Mentor: Does your OC have a mentor? Have they ever reached out to anyone for guidance or teaching, or been taken under someone's wing? How does your OC get along with their mentor?
Arngeir is the most obvious contender for Jórunn's mentor. They eventually get along, but their early relationship is strained by Jórunn's utter reluctance to face up to her destiny as Dragonborn. She finds Arngeir dull and overbearing; Arngeir finds her impertinent and difficult to work with. By the end of her first stay at High Hrothgar, however, they have come to respect each other and even enjoy each other's company :)
For Raydrin, I guess Delphine and Esbern would best fit this role? They've only just met Esbern in the fic so I won't get into that just yet, but as much as Raydrin and Delphine frustrate each other, I do think, like with Jórunn and Arngeir, they come to grudgingly respect each other; especially post-Diplomatic Immunity, when they begin to see more eye-to-eye.
Mathyas doesn't really have a mentor at present, but there are a couple of mentors he had as a child that will feature in the (nearly completed!) backstory wip :3 one of note is Kena Ranis, his swordfighting tutor. I'll leave things there to avoid spoilers
Cassathra's mentor currently is Tolfdir. They get on SO well -- Tolfdir absolutely adores each of the students in his tutorial group, he thinks they're all such charming and delightful young people, and Cassathra both respects Tolfdir's knowledge and wisdom and appreciates his kindness and his sense of humour. They're one of my favourite dynamics in the fic tbh <3
Future: Is there anyone your OC is looking forward to meeting or to seeing again? Who? What might that meeting or reunion look like?
Jórunn doesn't have anyone who immediately springs to mind; she cut ties with everyone she knew in Cyrodiil and doesn't have long to make acquaintances in Skyrim before she finds herself on the road with Raydrin. But she cares a lot about Sanjir and probably looks forward to whenever they'll next cross each others' paths <3
Raydrin and Cassathra are DESPERATELY looking forward to seeing each other again, especially Cassathra who spent most of her life looking to her big brother for guidance and comfort. Their reunion will be big and dramatic and full of lots of crying on both ends :')
Mathyas can only hope that he will one day see his mother again 🤧 if they ever do reunite, their meeting will be quiet and understated to the casual observer, but very much full of love and relief. I'm superrr enjoying his and Fedrasa's relationship in my current wip :)

Sun's Dawn - Does your OC have a love interest? What is their relationship like?
First Seed - Does your OC have any enemies or rivals? How did these rivalries start?
Frost Fall - Where is your OC's primary residence? What city is there favourite?
FOR WHATEVER OC OF YOUR CHOOSING :)))
Sun's Dawn
Kynadora’s love interest is Miraak. He and she are a slow burn, and most of their relationship can be defined as a tall, stoic, and strong warrior being brought to his knees by the gentleness he receives from the chronically tired but kind Kynadora.  That is after they get over the main story of the Dragonborn DLC. Baura’s love interest is Brynjolf. By the time we run into the Thieves Guild when Kynadora is tracking down Esbern, they are already together. They get together shortly after Baura returns with Karliah to the Guild, but before Baura, Brynjolf, and Karliah become Nightingales. Lasinia is part of what I will refer to as the Dawnguard Polycule. It includes her, Florentius Baenius, Gunmar, and Sorine Jurard. They all really just want to make each other happy and do so very well. It does however slightly confuse Isran.
First Seed
I’ve already answered this ask for Kynadora, which should be under the ask meme tag. Baura, as part of the Thieves Guild, has a main enemy in the City Guards of Skyrim. Much of the time however if Kynadora or Lasinia (upon their reunions) have enemies they are counted among Baura’s. Them and anyone else who dares to cross her guild. So the Thalmor are part of the list of her enemies twice for what happened to Kynadora and Etienne. The Silver-Bloods of Markarth are also people she tends to anger or rob if possible due to the events of the Forsworn Conspiracy, though she chose to kill Madanach and escape alone. As a follower of Meridia, Lasinia has a distaste for anything undead. Which is what drew her to the Dawnguard originally. She is less likely to go out of her way to fight against her sister and Kynadora’s enemies, but that doesn’t mean that she makes their jobs easier for them either. Harkon’s court is her primary enemy throughout the game, but she does have an interesting rivalry with Janus Hassildor. He is on her “no-kill list”, but that doesn’t mean that they get along at the best of times. She does however respect him for what he has done with his vampirism, especially in comparison to other undead.
Frost Fall
Kynadora owns a lot of properties throughout Skyrim. Her favorites have to be Riftweald Manor, a gift from Baura and the Guild for when she is in Riften, and Myrwatch which I have slightly moved the location of. It is closer to the true middle point between the Throat of the World, Solitude, and Windhelm and makes traveling, especially in the post-game much easier. Her favorite cities are Riften and Solitude but she does quite enjoy spending time in Helgen once she is done with rebuilding it. Windhelm and Whiterun would be higher on the list, but she isn’t as able to escape certain titles and responsibilities as she can in the other three. Baura loves Riften, where she owns two houses. She owns Honeyside as well as Shadowfoot Sanctum. The Sanctum is more of a residence for her to use when she needs to lay low in Riften for a bit longer. Honeyside has her true heart. She is also a Thane of Riften. Lasinia spends much of her time in Fort Dawnguard, but her favorite city is actually Morthal. She owns Windstad Manor there and is a Thane.

Fic Friday
Welcome to another chapter of my chaotic WIP brainchild.
Pairing: Dahlia Wintersnow (OC Dragonborn)/Ulfric Stormcloak
Warnings: Canon-typical violence, explicit content, minor references to past non-con, minor character death
Rating: E (Minors DNI with the explicit content)
Current word count: 183,232
Chapter 35
Snippet:
“You brought a dragon? Are you trying to get us all killed? What the f—”
“Delphine, we are going to need all the help we can get if there is a group of dragons. It would stand to reason that bringing our own dragon would be helpful. Even you cannot deny the logic of that.”
Delphine huffs.
“At least tell me that you have the Dragonborn with you.” The Grandmaster says, looking her up in down as if unimpressed.
“No. It’s just myself and Odahviing.” Lydia replies.
“So, the Dragonborn herself is too busy to grace us with her all-important presence, and she sent you.” Delphine states with a dissatisfied sneer on her face.
And to think she left Windhelm and Narile behind for this—woman.
Deep breaths, Lydia. The sooner you can figure out where Esbern is and retrieve him, the sooner you can leave and go back home.
“Dahlia laments—”
“Does she really? Or is she off ignoring her duty again. What is she doing that is so important that she can’t drag her ass out here herself?”
“I am here now, and I am willing to help you. That is what matters. If you only wish to complain and waste my time, I will go back home.” Lydia tells her, starting to lose her patience.
“No offense, housecarl. But you are just that, a housecarl. You are no match for a dragon let alone several of them at one time. You may have helped the Dragonborn stab a few of them with that sword at your hip, but you can’t finish the job. Where is she?”
Delphine really is testing her patience.
“I already told you that she is unable to be here! She has other things to do.” Lydia takes in another deep breath.
“Like play house with Ulfric. She cannot ignore that this is her job, and this is her duty. She needs to eliminate the dragon menace and that includes—”
“Dahlia does not need to do anything!” Lydia yells, finally losing her temper with the unbearable woman and marching her way up to her. “She is her own person and not beholden to what you think she should do. She has her own life and her own destiny. She is following it. I am here now. So, do you want my help or not? Because I will not allow you to continue talking shit about Dahlia when all she has done is help you and your little organization which does—I am not even sure what.”
She looms over Delphine using her height to her advantage, staring down at her with ice in her gaze. One more wrong word from her, and she will forget what Dahlia told her about playing nice with the Blade and slap her straight across the face.
