SKETCHES
of Clara’s clothing. Will do school uniforms eventually
headcanon under the cut
Also, after the whole fighting-Ranrok thing (gotta happen in March, right? still snowy out), Clara is wounded via knife slash to her ankle, also twisted same ankle, got walloped by a troll, scratched up her legs something awful sliding on rocks, and then watched her favorite professor die. She’s in hysterics when Sharp and Prof. Onai are trying to corral her up to the hospital wing. She keeps trying to escape and go find the entrance to the mined tunnel.
Pls keep in mind, she’s 15, been awake for like 36 hours straight, and just lost someone important to her (again, so like, old memories of her sister dying are resurfacing). Obviously, she is a pillar of calm and collected sanity.
Additional Information: When the tremors with the Ancient Magic started, the Profs who did not go to help fight were herding students into the Great Hall, like when Sirius scratched up the Pink Lady’s portrait. So a not insignificant number the student body heard Clara’s screeches, snuck to the door and saw the floating cot with a body under a sheet, the haunted looks on the professors as they return.
Rumors circulate. As they do.
So two mornings later, when Sebastian has worked up the nerve to actually talk to Clara (he heard her parents were summoned in the middle of the night, also heard she lost her mind, that a dragon lived under the castle, castle was almost blown up, etc... who knows what’s true). So. He’s going to talk to her. Which he’s talked to loads of girls, and talked to Clara loads of times. Except that she’s refused to talk to him since the Uncle Solomon incident, and that’s why he’s nervous and trying to talk himself into seeing her.
Instead he Lurks (defintely lurking) outside the hospital wing, unsure if he wants to talk to her or not. He sticks his head into the door, half hoping she’s still sleeping and half-hoping she’ll see him and all that awkward guilt will vanish.
Sebastian is treated to a view of privacy curtains halfway down the wing. And through a little gap, he gets a glimpse of her lacing up her corset. Just for like, 1 total second.
5 minutes later, a bunch of second-years watch him sprint out of the castle and dive headfirst into the lake.
#hogwarts legacy#hogwarts legacy mc#clara white#sebastian sallow#he does end up going back up to the hospital wing before dinner#Clara is sitting in bed (in a NIGHTGOWN so he is thinking of going back into the lake and just asking the merpeople to drown him)#She is absolutely devouring a new book (sherlock holmes)#She's also all bruised up and her hair is in a braid instead of its usual twisty thing#Anyway so he loses any ounce of planning what he was going to say and simply goes 'Hello'#His brain = not working too many emotions that he doesnt want to think about like guilt and anxiety and#and something thats making his hands feel sweaty#Finally he sits in the chair next to her bed and asks if she's alright#corrects himself and says of course not shes in the hospital wing#says he wasnt sure if she'd want to see him#oh and he heard about Fig and is sorry about that#Sebastian realizes he's doing all the talking and shuts up#Clara is holding onto her book (her beloved whatever book she is currently reading is her beloved)#like her book is going to steady her#her voice is rough from screaming and whatnot but she thanks him for visiting#And then her parents enter the room and Sebastian wishes the chair would morph into a coffin so he could die then and there#But Clara finds her parents doting on him to be amusing enough to smile through her grief so he tolerates Lady White fussing over his robes#This time when he leaves the hospital wing he goes straight to the baths and puts it on ice cold#b/c he cant get Clara and her messy braided hair and the corset glimpse ouf of his mind but she's a FRIEND

Hi! Can you write morning sex with Brock Purdy? Just something soft and sweet
𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭 | brock purdy x fem!reader
requests
𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 | Brock had an amazing game the night before. The 49ers won by a long shot. Brock’s wife was cheering him on, he decides to show her how much he loved her for that.
𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 | smut, pre-established relationship, piv, lazy sex, unprotected sex, creampie, missionary, subtle breeding kink, soft!dom!Brock, sub!reader, swearing, aftercare
I have SEVEN brock purdy requests. I love y’all. Fun fact: it’s very hard to find Brock gifs. Pinterest is failing me.
Tumblr media
Brock had brought his team to yet another win. They won by a long shot, it was insane. Of course, he knew he had his own supporter up in the stadium. She was cheering him on. His wife, the reason he got this far in the first place.
The moment that they were reunited after the game, Y/N had her arms around her husband. She was congratulating him excessively. Brock held her close, his eyes barely able to stay open. He was more tired than usual and as much as he wanted to be able to take her out on a post-game date or something, he simply didn’t have the energy.
The couple headed back to their hotel and the moment Brock hit the bed, he had passed out. Although Y/N was used to their… traditions, she wouldn’t wake him just for that. Instead, she laid next to him and also drifted off to sleep.
The night seemed to go on forever, the hours seeming like days. Brock slept like a baby though. He was holding onto his wife and his head was on her chest. It was usually the opposite. Still, it was nice.
Once morning came, their alarm went off, waking them both. They had forgotten about the alarm clock and it had slipped their minds to turn it off the night before. Brock jolted awake and then nearly punched the alarm clock to turn it off. Y/N wheezed when Brock put his weight onto her.
“Oh- sorry, baby.” Brock mumbled and kissed her cheek. She simply hummed in response. Brock was basically laying on her still, but he had put more weight onto his arms so that he was holding himself up a bit.
“You were tired last night,” she whispered, “are you feeling any better?”
“Yeah, a lot. Sorry I was so tired, I feel guilty.” Brock frowned and leaned down to kiss her. She let him.
“Its ok, I’m just glad you got some rest.”
“Let me make it up to you, Y/N. Please?” He smiled as he kissed along her jaw. She couldn’t turn down her husband. She moaned a response, so he kept going. His hands went to her thighs, tapping them and getting her to spread them. She did.
Brock groaned as he ground his hips against hers. They looked at each other and then Brock continued nibbling on the sensitive skin of her neck. Y/N arched her back towards him. His fingers hooked around her pajama shorts and then tugged them down. He sat up to throw them aside along with his sweatpants. Their shirts went next.
Both Y/N and Brock were still exhausted, but not too exhausted for each other. Brock held onto her thighs for a moment as he was pushing his cock into her. Y/Ns head fell back in a soft moan. He eased himself inside her until his tip nudged her cervix and his balls pressed against her ass.
He could hardly hold himself up though. His muscles ached and everything in his body was sore. Her legs were over his shoulders as he leaned down and put his nose into the crook of her neck. They took a moment to just lay there together and adjust before Brock made slow rolls of his hips. Y/Ns hands ran down his back and then back up to tangle in his hair.
Brock’s grunts and Y/Ns moans were all that could be heard. There wasn’t much energy (or any at all) in their movements, but every small thrust or slow roll was full of love. His mind was completely fogged over and he couldn’t think of anything except for her. Y/N. His wife. The love of his life. That was it.
Neither of them could last too long, it was too early in the morning and neither had the energy to try and fight off their orgasms. Brock had one of his hands touching her waist and the other beside her head to keep himself stable.
Brock’s hand on her waist drifted to her stomach. It ran over the parts of her body which one day could carry his child. He let out a groan at that. She let out a sharp gasp when he thrusted a little bit harder than before. Brock muttered an apology against her skin, but he couldn’t stop himself.
He was greedy. He wanted as much of her as he could take and that she could give. His groans and grunts got louder and she was muffling her moans in his collarbone.
Her legs twitched and Brock realized she was close. His hand moved from her stomach to flick her clit. She whined and instinctively tried to move away, but she couldn’t. Brock made sure of it. He wanted to feel her cum around his cock.
She whimpered and cried his name as her orgasm hit. Brock put his head next to hers and she was basically moaning into his ear. He could only get in a few more thrusts before he realized he was also nearly at his climax.
“Fuck- come on, sweetheart.” He grunted and his thrusts got a bit more irregular. She gasped and her nails dug into his back. He was babbling into her ear at this point, begging for her to give him a baby. To give him a son to raise in his footsteps. His eyes were screwed shut and his thrusts managed to hit deeper and deeper until he came.
It seemed as if he came straight into her womb. He continued with shallow thrusts, still not a single thought in his mind. Y/N pushed lightly at his chest and he leaned back a bit to look at her.
“Hm?” He hummed.
“Are you gonna pull out?”
“Dont think so.” He responded blankly. “I cant let anything drip, can I?” He teased as he pulled her close and had them move a bit. He laid on his back, she laid on top of him. It was easier for them both that way.
They just laid together like that for a while in silence before Brock spoke up.
“Are you hungry?” He asked, murmuring into her hair. As much as he wanted to just lay there with her, he had to make sure that she was ok.
“No, I’m not too hungry right now.”
“I guess you are pretty full.” He gave her waist a squeeze. Y/N snorted at his stupid joke.
“You’re a goof.” Y/N giggled softly as she rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes. Brock wrapped his arms around her and sighed.
“All yours.”

HLC REACT TO MC HAVING AN OUT OF CHARACTER OUTBURST
Requested by: @ma1egamer
MC had a bad week. The worst week. An awful horrible week. But they still smiled. No one could know what was broiling just beneath the surface. They were the cool popular kid at Hogwarts, they had a reputation. If they just kept up appearances until the end of the day, they could go out after classes and fight a few dark wizards. That would help them de-stress.
They were lost in thought when someone accidentally ran into them, knocking their bag off their arm and causing it to spill its contents all over the floor. One of their ink bottles smashed, staining what was a lengthy essay they had just completed the night before for astronomy.
MC lost their carefully collected shit. "WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING!? IF ITS NOT ONE THING, ITS ANOTHER!! EVERY! SINGLE! DAY! But, if we didn't have bad weeks, the good weeks would be so amazing." It was like someone flipped a switch. MC was entirely calm again while using their wand to clean up their stuff.
The hall was dead silent. The whole crowd of students and faculty watched MC pack themselves up and walk away smiling.
SEBASTIAN SALLOW: "Welp, I feel sorry for any dark wizards or goblins that cross MC's path today." This included himself. He steered clear.
OMINIS GAUNT: "What happened? Why did they shout like that? Are they okay?" He needs context. He's worried.
ANNE SALLOW: She avoids eye contact with anyone in the crowd. She doesn't know what's going on, don't look at her.
IMELDA REYES: "What, in the actual fuck, was that?"
NATSAI ONAI: She marches after MC. They clearly aren't okay and she wants to know what's up.
GARRETH WEASLEY: MC's outburst made him drop a jar of pickled slugs. Now he was having a bad day too. The smell was awful.
LEANDER PREWETT: "They're cracking under the pressure. Sad."
AMIT THAKKAR: He has shrunk away from the noise. He doesn't deal with that kind of energy very well and removes himself from the situation.
EVERETT CLOPTON: "Merlin's beard, and here I thought Kogawa had a temper."
POPPY SWEETING: "Yeesh, I knew MC had fangs but I've never seen them take it out on a random student. I wonder what's bothering them."
ELEAZAR FIG: "Oh dear." He shuffles through the crowd and shepherds MC away. "What was that about? Are you alright? Please, don't lie to me."
MATILDA WEASLEY: She bristled at MC's volume. She could take house points for that, but instead ask MC to come to her office. She wants a word.
CHIYO KOGAWA: "Move along, everyone. You all have places to be." She shoos the crowd and stops MC from leaving. "Let's talk. My office."
AESOP SHARP: He gets it. As far as anyone is concerned, he saw nothing.
ABRAHAM RONEN: He's immediately by MC's side, helping them with their books. "Can you spare a moment to chat?" He wants them to be actually okay.
MIRABEL GARLICK: She walks quickly to catch up with MC and hands them a colorful bloom. "Here...it's Worry's Blight. It'll help you feel calm. You seem to need some more than me today."
MUDIWA ONAI: She invites MC up for tea. A special blend and good conversation is what they needed.
BAI HOWIN: Everyone has a bad day. There was no confrontation about the items dropped, so she let it go.
DINAH HECAT: "You shouldn't be shouting the halls, MC. However, instead of taking points, I have an assignment for you." She gave them a small price of paper with a location. "This is an ashwinder camp I heard wind of in the Three Broomsticks. It's a big one. Use this information as you may."
CUTHBERT BINNS: He just ghosted on out of there. He had a lecture to prep.
SATYAVATI SHAH: "No shouting in the halls. That's five points, MC." She didn't notice the vein fit to burst on MC's neck when they just smiled back at her.
PHINEAS NIGELLUS BLACK: "Children. Always whining about how hard life is. They know nothing of the real troubles life can throw at you."

Witcher Cat Fics
Tumblr media
Do you like cats and The Witcher? Then maybe you'll also like Witcher cat fics! (sorry, not Cat Witcher fics). Here is a little list of fics I found that feature cats, but it's certainly not complete. If you know of other Witcher fanfics where a cat plays an important role in the plot, please let me know so I can add it to the list.
Have fun with cats and Witchers!
(The order is totally random)
5 Times Someone Else Had To Watch The Damn Cat
Foltest, Ves, Geralt of Rivia, Iorveth, Silas of the Blue Stripes, G, 500 words:
Five times someone else had to watch Roche's cat.
It's the latest in a series of drabbles about Roche's cat: Kits Out for Temeria by Faetality, check it out, it's so funny!
The Sorceress' Challenge by Annaatemychocolate
Yennefer/Triss, F/F, 11,485 words:
“The Sorceress Yennefer has set a challenge: capture her black cat and retrieve the key around its neck before the end of the month, and you get your wish granted. That’s why everyone’s here.”
Triss’ eyebrows were now dangerously close to disappearing into her hairline. “You’re not serious.”
flowers in every room by SummerFrost
Geralt/Yennefer, Ciri, F/M, 5,077 words:
Hey, Mum! Sorry, I can't stay long, there's this—" Ciri tilts her head. "What's with the cat?"
"Fuck if I know," says Yen.
Aka: The one where Geralt gets turned into a cat and dumped on Yennefer's doorstep.
Here Kitty, Kitty by round_robin
Geralt & Jaskier, Gen, 1,671 words: “Cats don't like—you can't be serious.” Geralt said nothing and Jaskier gasped. “Of all the weird fucking things they did to you, that takes the cake.”
This got a small chuckle. “Oh yes? The heightened senses that bring headaches if I'm in a town too long, the poison tolerance that still hurts like I'm dying, but no, cats hissing at me is clearly the worst...”
Of Wolves and Cats by A_hopeful_disaster
Geralt &/ Jaskier, Gen, 1,353 words: Jaskier adopts a cat. Geralt isnt sure what to think.
The Mystical Divinity of Unashamed Felinity by Star_dancer54

Geralt /Jaskier, Cirilla, Yennefer , M/M, 16,861 words: Jaskier is a live-in cat sitter and Roach is the biggest and meanest cat he has ever met. Just what kind of owner does a cat like that have? (unfinished)
Ball of Purr by kentucka
Geralt, Gen, 1,211 words: A fluffy little thing (pun intended) in which Geralt gets to pet a cat.
Cat Got Your Tongue (But I’ve Got Your Heart) by WanderingDrui
Aiden/Lambert, Geralt/Jaskier, M/M, 31,093 words: After the mountain Jaskier throws caution to the winds and decides to use a secret he's kept his entire life to get back at Geralt. He expects a short and petty journey of revenge. Instead he makes new witcher friends, explores his past, and finds peace with who he is and what he wants in life. Meanwhile, Geralt hasn't heard anything about Jaskier since he sent him away and is growing worried.... (WIP)
Lovecats by Lula_Claims_The_Snakeskin_Jacket
Cahir/Yennefer, F/M, 16,404 words: Cahir and Yennefer acquire a stray cat. Or does the cat acquire them? As a witch, Yennefer vibes with cats well. Cahir is sceptical, as to his best knowledge cats are of no use on the battlefield. Obviously, some tensions are inevitable here. But this relationship will, yes, evolve.
powerful by mayoho
Rience, Gen, 100 words: Rience has always been drawn to power, even in the most unexpected places.

Hallo again!! I was the one who sent in a lot of those Riz in backpack headcanons! Here are some more.
Places Riz had woken up in because he fell asleep in someone’s backpack
- Zelda’s room, I’d like to imagine it’d just pan back and forth we between slowly getting closer to the back and Riz slowly unzipping, when he confusedly peeked his head out of the backpack, Zelda and him screamed out of utter surprise. Once the two of them calmed down, Zelda offered to call Gorgug to come pick up his backpack with Riz in it.
- Sam Nightingale’s car, very similar to the last one, Gorgug left his backpack at Zelda, and Sam was already gonna take the maidens out tonight. So they were just gonna drop the backpack off on the way, Riz wakes up to blasting pop music, pokes his head out to look up at Zelda. All the seven maidens really like Riz (he was the one started looking for them in the first place) and they offered to drop off the backpack and take him with him as a thank you.
- Backstage at a concert, he was passed out the whole time. He could faintly hear the sound of Fig welcoming people and introducing Gorgug, but he didn’t really recognize where he was until he heard the speakers blasting. When he poked his head out, security try to kick him out. Fig heard this, came back stage and fired the security guard for not recognizing one of her best friends. (There’s now a list of everyone that’s allowed backstage)
- Hell, Fig accidentally left her backpack in her domain, there was no cell service so he was kinda stuck there with Baby until it Fig came back. He didn’t enjoy a second of it, Baby kept trying to get Riz to kill him. Eventually when Fig found him she was freaking out because apparently no one knew where he was.
- Compass point’s library, Fig or Adaine left forgot Riz was in there. Ayda was going to promptly return the bag as soon as she was finished with whatever she was doing. Until she heard Riz groaned, she opened it and saw Riz sleeping with a bunch of Adaine’s books. She took a picture because she knew this was something that would be considered cute and put the backpack back down.
- On Baxter, Sandralynn, in a hurry, accidentally picking up Kristen’s back and flying off on Baxter, not know that Riz was in there. He woke up at least a hundred feet above ground and he scared the shit out of Baxter, almost sending them falling.
Zeldas room:
Riz woke up and he was... not where he was supposed to be, but he recognised the smell of Zeldas deodorant and soap so he figured he was probably in her house. This posed a bit of a problem because if he was in her house, Gorgug was probably there.... and they were dating..... and she was a satyr... who worshiped Faunus.... and her boyfriend was there.... and they probably thought they were alone.... The rogue covered his face, ears flicking as he tried to listen to what was going on outside the confines of the bag. Thanking all that was holy when he heard nothing gross and carefully unzipping the backpack to peak out. Quickly ducking back down when Zelda spotted him and screamed. Riz yelping when the bag was impacted by a textbook thrown at full force from the startled girl. "Ow! Fuck, sorry!" he waited a moment before peeking back out again, Zelda still looking a little startled but calming down when she finally recognised him. "Oh! Riz I'm sorry you frightened me." She put down the lamp she was about to throw next and crouched to inspect the goblin. Riz rubbing the side of his head from where the textbook had nailed him through the padding of the bag. "I didn't realise Gorgug forgot his bag. I'll get him to come get you."
--------------------
Really Gorgug? Again? At least it felt like he was in a moving car this time, so there was less of a chance of him seeing something he shouldn't. It also felt like someone had buckled the bag into the seat so there was a good chance they knew he was there.
The goblin shuffled around inside the bag, using his claws to try and find the end of the zipper. It wasn't needed though, someone on the outside was opening it for him so he popped his head out. Laughing and ducking back down as several different peoples hands tried to ruffle his hair all at once (he didn't duck away too quickly from Penny though, she had first friend head pat privileges).
----------------
He must have been more tired than he realised, Riz thought, when he checked his watch and realised school had finished /hours/ ago. The rogue scrubbing his hands over his face as he tried to wake up the rest of the way as he listened to his surroundings to work out where he was.
He could make a fairly educated guess, given that he could hear Fig giving her usual pre-show introductions, that they were at The Black Pit. She still did little shows like this when she wasn't on tour and he vaguely remembered her mentioning there was one coming up. It was too far away for him to walk home so he'd have to wait around for them to finish which was fine. He enjoyed Figs shows as long as he didn't have to stand in the audience, he was too likely to get stepped on in big crowds.
Riz fished his glasses out of his breast pocket, putting on the light filtering lenses before unzipping the bag from the inside. Clambering out to stretch and check out his surroundings as the music started blaring from the stage. He could only just see Fig from here, The Black Pit wasn't big enough of a venue to have green-rooms for the performers meant she'd left her things in a pile with Gorgugs in the wings.
He crouched back down next to the bags after watching for a while, finding himself thirsty and rummaging through Gorgugs bag looking for the unopened bottle of water he knew was stashed in there. Riz wasn't trying to be stealthy so he wasn't surprised when one of the security staff noticed him, he /was/ surprised that they didn't seem to recognise him though.
"You theivin little rat! What the hell d'you think you're doing?" The orc in a 'security' emblazoned t-shirt stomped towards him, Riz giving him a confused look and standing up as they didn't seem intent on slowing their approach.
"Oh. Hi? I'm in Fig and Gorgugs par-" he didn't get to finish his sentence, the security officer swiping for him which the rogue tried to dodge. Riz didn't quite get far enough away though, the orc managing to grab him by the tail and yank him into the air in one smooth motion.
Riz wasn't quite sure exactly what happened next but he vaguely remembered screaming as his vision whited out from the pain. His tail was part of his spine, wasn't strong enough to support his weight and when he was yanked into the air he felt something /snap/.
The next moment he could form a coherent thought he was somehow back on his feet, gentle and familiar hands keeping him upright as healing magic dulled the pain to a distant ache. The music had stopped and the air now smelled of burning fabric so he could make an educated guess as to what happened. He couldn't see Gorgug anywhere, or the security orc, which probably didn't bode well for the staff member.
"You okay?" Fig let him go when he moved to stand up straighter from his pained hunch, the bard frowning and using her sleeve to wipe his face dry since the pain had made his eyes water. "Oh that fucker is /so/ fired once Gorgug finishes with him."
----------
"Why not? It'll be fun!" Baby cackled, Riz hissing like a feral cat and trying to kick him away as Baby scaled the bookshelf the rogue had perched himself on. The goblins foot landing with a squelch and making the Imp fall back to the floor with another peel of insane laughter. They really needed to work out how to get cell service down here.
-------------
Riz had been hanging out with them for a while but there was only so much girl talk he could handle before checking out of the situation. Plus, his head was killing him. Even he had to admit sometimes there was a limit on how long you could go without a nap and, rather than lying down in the open, had flopped down partially concealed inside the duffle bag Adaine had brought with her. Riz shuffling around the contents in order to use one of her textbooks as a pillow before passing out.
He'd apparently done TOO good of a job hiding himself though, because Fig and Adaine had completely forgotten about the bag when they left. He'd woken up back at Mordred hours later and only found out about the abandonment when he spotted a photo printed out and taped to Adaines mirror at their next sleepover.
-------------
Riz was usually fine with heights. What he was NOT fine with was SUDDEN UNEXPECTED HEIGHTS WHILE NOT FULLY AWAKE. There was a lot of screaming involved, and claws (not just his) and it took forever for his heart to stop trying to beat out of his chest once his feet were finally on the ground. Baxter got a lot of treats from the goblin over the following weeks in apology.

How Charming
Ominis x MC
Summary - I want more interaction between Ominis and MC damn it!! This has made me want to rewrite the Hogsmeade quest to which I’m already doing for Garreth so…throw Ominis in there too. Let Ominis get slapped around by a troll.
This is just pure Ominis in denial. I like to think the reason he’s distant is because he doesn’t know how to feel towards MC.
And I have plans to rewrite the Undercroft argument too so that’ll be fun.
Warnings: None just a rewrite, feel free to change Evelyn to MC or Y/N
Word Count - 1604
~
“Time for a proper Hogwarts Welcome”
Oh for heavens sake
Ominis heard the low chuckle from Sebastian as he took up his duelling position against the new girl.
He’d heard him sound like that before. He spoke to Imelda like it sometimes when he was feeling brave and every single time, Ominis cringed.
Usually, he didn’t care. The thought that perhaps he’d have been better off born deaf instead of blind passed through his mind but other than that, it’s just Sebastian being his usual irritatingly charming self.
But something about this duel made Ominis’ teeth itch.
The sounds of exertion from the two of them helped Ominis keep track of what was happening. His wand alerted him to their basics movements across the raised plinth. She was graceful. And deliberate. Impressive considering she’s never been around magic.
He listened to her cast Levioso confidently and accurate, not ten minutes after she had learned the spell even existed.
Remarkable.
“Good Form” Sebastian purred, and Ominis rolled his eyes.
Even in the middle of a duel.
“I know” she retorted, cockily and he heard Sebastian gasp at her brash behaviour.
Not nice is it, Sebastian
Ominis found himself rooting for her. He heard her effortlessly lift Sebastian off the ground for the fifth time, followed by a thud and the sound of air being forced from Sebastian’s lungs. Ominis chuckled.
Sebastian walked back over to Ominis with his tail between his legs.
“Did you see that?” Sebastian asked in a hushed voice as they stood at the back of the class
“Surprisingly Sebastian, I did not” Ominis waved a hand in front of his face. Merlin, how does your best friend forget you’re blind?
“You know what I mean! That was definitely not her first duel…” Sebastian spat as he stared daggers towards Evelyn “…and I thought she was so sweet in the Common Room”
“She is” Ominis answered far too quickly. He could feel Sebastian smirking beside him, but decided to ignore it “She survived a dragon attack on her way here, she must know something even if it’s just the basics”
Sebastian mumbled next to Ominis about how it would take more than basics to best him and how he almost certainly held back so as not to crush her spirit.
Ominis didn’t listen.
~
“If you want to get the most out of your time at Hogwarts you’re going to need to break the rules now and then” Sebastian had pulled Evelyn aside at the end of class to discuss something with her. She listen intently as he playfully jabbed at her abilities. “Whether it joining a secret duelling club or sneaking into The Restricted Section of the Library-“ he looked at her with a smug smile and a glint of mischief in his eye. “You just have to be clever enough not to get caught”
“And you’re clever enough?” She looked him up and down with an eyebrow raised “Thank you Sebastian I’ll keep that in mind”
“Good, I-“ Sebastian started before she spied Ominis leaving the classroom
“Sorry Sebastian, have to go. See you later” She bounced happily away towards the door.
“Look for Lucan Brattleby near the Clock Tower Entrance” Sebastian called to her as she waved back at him.
What was that about?
~
“Ominis!” Evelyn called out past the little sea of students filing out of the classroom. He stopped and turned towards her voice.
“Evelyn? Am I remembering correctly?” he asked as she skipped up to him.
“Yes, I was wondering if I could take you up on that offer of showing me around the castle. This charm doesn’t work as well as Fig thinks” she stared down at the field guide in her hands and watched as the tiny golden spark bounced from her pages and behind her, leading her back into The DADA Classroom.
“Of course. The lesson being cut short leaves me with some time before Charms”
“Oh you have Charms too? Ah, how charming……oh I understand Sebastian’s joke now!” She felt stupid as she recalled her earlier conversation in the Common Room. Ominis chuckled. He had a pompous laugh but it was sweet and endearing in its own way. She found herself smiling up at him as he laughed at her.
“I do” he smiled and took a step to the side gesturing for her to walk along side him. “Follow me”
“So…As you know, I am unfamiliar with a lot of the things in this world” Ominis could hear her fumbling with the cuffs of her robes as they walked together “Charms, Spells, Dragons…I don’t know what is normal and what isn’t…”
Where is she going with this?
“…And in the muggle world…” she said the word as though she was trying it on for the first time “…there are people whose eyes glaze over when they’re blind for a while so I guess I was-“
“Are you trying to ask me if I’m blind?” He says, his voice heavy with amusement
“Yes…in as tactful way as I possibly can” he could feel the awkward way she was walking and it made him chuckle.
“Yes I am blind” He tries to hold his tongue from making a smarmy remark. After all, she was trying so hard not to be rude about it, even though he knows it is obvious he is blind….But she’s right. Maybe these eyes were commonplace in the Wizarding World…they aren’t but she isn’t to know that “My wand helps me navigate around the castle”
“Fascinating” She says peeking at his wand. She had wandered why he took it out when they started walking. After all he was perfectly content in the Common Room. No wand in sight…She leaned in towards the blinking tip of the wand and he flinched “Oh I’m sorry…”
“Don’t worry.” Ominis could feel his face getting warm. The heat rising from his collar caused him to rub the back of his neck, willing the encroaching blush away. “Consider my wand an extension of myself. You just leant…very close to me.” He laughed again “It just startled me is all”
“I’m so sorry”
“Honestly, it’s okay. I’m just not used to people being so near to me”
Why is it so hot in here?
“Oh you’re going to just hate me then. I quite like being close to the people I like…” she gasped “Not like, but you’ve been kind to me so…”
He tried to listen to her babble on. It was endearing. But his mind kept wandering to the increasingly loud voices behind them.
“Look at them sauntering around like the King and Queen of Slytherin!”
“As if she didn’t have enough attention she’s leeching off of Gaunt now”
“Did you see her in Defence Against the Dark Arts? Thinks she’s all that cause Sallow went easy on her”
“Ominis?” Evelyns voice bought him back
“Hmm? I’m sorry I…couldn’t help but overhear some of the students they’re…perhaps it best I not say”
“Talking about me? I’m sort of used to it now. It’s all I could hear in the Common Room” her voice sounded so defeated. Her sadness hit him like a tidal wave.
“You shouldn’t be used to it” he put his hand on her shoulder, bringing them to a stop just outside the Charms classroom. His eyes were sympathetic as he stared down at her.
“Ah there you two are? You look like a right pair”Sebastian said, his voice appearing out of nowhere as he was lost in Evelyns turmoil. Ominis knows him well enough to hear the slight tint of jealousy in his voice.
“How so?” Ominis said his cheeks burning yet again.
This is abnormally warm weather for this time of year
“You’re both have an air of... austerity. No offence, Evelyn, but you did scare me in the Common Room earlier. Your face looked like thunder”
She giggled and Ominis twitched. His face twisted up into a stern frown as he gazed in Sebastians direction.
“You know, if you needed guidance to your next lesson you could have asked me. I know we’ve just had…a rather exhilarating fight but…I won’t hold it against you”
She was giggling again.
“Well Ominis had already offered to show me around earlier” she said and he felt her gravitate slightly towards him. His steely expression calmed to a coy smile.
“Did he now?” Sebastian said. “Well I shall extend you the same offer then. Speaking of, Professor Weasley has asked me to accompany you to Hogsmeade later.”
“Oh…that’s kind of you. She did mention about going with someone, I was going to ask-“
“Excellent. We’ll head out after class. Maybe some time in the afternoon?”
~
The students all filed into the classroom when Professor Ronen showed. As they took their seats, Evelyn was called away, leaving Ominis a short period of time to chastise Sebastian before class started.
“What are you doing?!” Ominis spat
“I can assure you I have no idea what you’re talking about” Sebastian said honestly.
“You…ugh…” Ominis realised at this point he was overreacting, but he’d already started his tirade. He couldn’t exactly explain why he was angry. Just that the moment Sebastian turned up, his mood had changed. “Smart little remarks in the duel, offering to show her around the Castle AND to Hogsmeade”
“I’m just being friendly” He said, sounding distinctly pleased with himself
“You know exactly what you’re doing”
“Why does it matter? I- Merlin’s Beard! Are you jealous?”
“Don’t be ridiculous” Ominis snapped, that blush rising from his collar again
“Godrics heart…I have never seen you jealous before”
“I am not jealous”
Oh gods, What if I am?

*~Insecure~* | S.S. x Gryffindor!MC
Tumblr media
I wrote this in my journal about a month ago, and I thought it was time to share it - I hope you enjoy it.
Warnings: *Not proofread* Angst with a fluffy ending, insecurities (on Sebastian’s side), ‘MC’ insert, fem!reader (she/her pronouns, referenced as girl), Gryffindor!MC (it’s for the plot), Leander slander (I’m sorry), mentions of food/not eating (hint at an ED, but can be taken a lot of other ways too), Imelda Reyes, Ominis x Anne, Ranrok doesn’t really exist as well as Rookwood, Professor Fig is alive, Anne is not cursed, Soloman is still alive - it’s a good little alternative universe.
Word Count: 4674
Sebastian stared at his reflection in the full length mirror in his dorm with a rather large frown. It was now finally the weekend, and he had made plans with MC for a Hogsmeade trip. But, at this point he nearly had forgotten as the time was irrelevant, not knowing how much has went by.
He couldn’t stop. Analyzing every one of his features. The way his nose was a little too flared, the way his cheek were slightly too chubby, and Merlin his freckles - his freckles were just... everywhere. And suddenly he thought - how can she look at me? Did she think all of these things when she stared at her for a moment too long for his liking?
He always squirmed under her gaze.
“Sebastian,” Ominis called out.
“Yes?” he sighed.
“What are you doing? MC’s been waiting outside like a sad puppy waiting for you.”
Two responses ran through his mind that would inevitably lead to different outcomes, he opted for the rather unfortunate one. “Tell her ‘I’m sorry, but I’m not feeling well’.”
“Not feeling well? But, last night you wouldn’t stop blabbering about how excited you were for this trip.”
“Must’ve come in the night - a bug, no doubt.”
Ominis seemed to look rather disappointment in Sebastian. “Alright then... I’ll see to it.” With that, he leaves.
When MC heard the news, her shoulders caved in a little, her body a slump as she sulked. “Oh...” she paused. “Did he say what he thinks it is?”
“A bug - I’m sure he’ll feel better late after some rest.” His words seemed rather forced as if he weren’t sure he believed them himself.
“Should I go check on him?”
Ominis shook his head. “Nest to leave it be. I’ll escort you.”
“And be you and Anne’s third wheel? I’m sorry, but I’ll have to pass.”
He scoffed, “Oh c’mon - we aren’t near the level you and Sebastian are on, and I have to deal with the two of you everyday.”
She sighed, “Fine.”
“I’ll go grab Anne.”
MC kicked at the ground in defeat.
“Ditched now, are we?”
She grimaced, looking up at the owner of the voice. Leander. “Oh, no - Sebastian is feeling under the weather.”
“Sounds like an excuse to me.”
MC bit her tongue - she cannot talk back to someone from her own house. She cannot. But, oh... did she want to.
“If I were dating you - I’d never dare to be away from you - even for a second. It makes it easier - us being in the same house, doesn’t it?” He dryly chuckled. “I mean a Gryffindor and a Slytherin?”
“I don’t believe in house compatibility, nor stereotypes, nor house supremacy.”
“Still, it doesn’t make sense. And you just had to pick the worst of them.”
MC was now fuming. “The worst?!” she scoffed. “I’m sorry, but for someone who as you’ve said before, thinks highly of me - you sure don’t trust my judgment.”
“I’m just thinking about what’s best for you, that’s all.”
“What’s best for me?! And let me guess, you think you’re what’s best for me?”
He shrugged. “Maybe.”
“Well, you’re wrong. And it’s not your choice. And for the record...” She groans in frustration. “Sebastian is more than a Slytherin, he’s a person, a good person, who’s respectful, and generous, and loyal - Ha! He’s a better excuse of a Gryffindor than you’ll ever be!” She straightens her corset. “Now, if you don’t mind - not that I’d care if you did - I’ll be on my way.” She turns around. Her body froze when in front of her stood Anne, Ominis... and Sebastian. All with equally shocked expressions.
Her eyes widened. “Sebastian!” She awkwardly played with her hair. “Ominis told me you’ve fallen ill.”
He stared at her for a moment before clearing his throat. “Yes - well - right - I’m feeling a little better now.” He attempted a casual smile.
“Oh! Are you - are you sure?” She walked up to him, concern written all over her. She pressed the back of her hand to his forehead. She frowned. “You don’t feel warm.” She cupped his face, and analyzed his eyes and features for any sign of sickness. “And you don’t look pale.”
That little voice in his head was going off the longer she took him in.
“Yes, well...” He removed her hands, and held them in his own. “Like I said - I’m feeling better.”
Her gaze held suspicion. “Very well, shall we be off.”
He nodded and linked arms. The couple fell beside Anne and Ominis as they began to walk to Hogsmeade.
“Why can’t we use floo powder?” Ominis asked.
Anne nudged his stomach with her elbow before looking toward MC with wide smile. “Can I just say what you did back there was brilliant!” Anne started. “Putting Leander in his place.”
MC glanced at Sebastian. “I only said the truth.”
Sebastian’s cheeks turned a light shade of pink.
When they got to Hogsmeade, Sebastian turned to Brooke.
“Where to first?”
MC gasped with excitement. “Oh! The sweets shop!”
He chuckled. “Lead the way.”
She grabbed his hand, wasting no time dragging him along to Honeydukes. When they got there she immediately went to the chocolates section.
“Oh ‘Bastian look!” He peered over her shoulder. “They have those bon bons you like so much.” She picked up a box. “I’ll get us a box to share.” She turned her head and pecked his cheek then ran off to go pay.
His eyes flickered around the shop, but when a laugh cuts through the air, his attention is immediately back on the girl laughing at something the owner of the shop had said.
“Thank you,” he heard her say to the worker.
Should he have paid for it? He thought for a brief moment.
“What were you laughing about?” he asked.
She waved it off. “Oh, something about me paying - but I said you weren’t feeling well this morning. So, I bought these - which is true.”
He should’ve bought them.
“Let me pay you back at least... how about with a... butterbeer?” He raised an eyebrow.
“How could I say no?” They linked arms again.
They walked out.
“Remember when I took you here on your first day? Still can’t believe Professor Weasley trusted me of all people to be your guide.”
She smiled at him. “What if I told you it technically wasn’t her decision?”
“Hm?” He tilted his head toward her.
She became flustered. “Well, it was either you or Natty and I might’ve chose you...”
“You never told me that,” he whispered.
It was quiet, and she could sense that Sebastian had something to say, but she beat him to it.
“If we flashback to earlier that day.- I beat you in that duel.”
He groaned, softly. “I’ll never live that down.” He laughed.
“We have a lot of interesting memories together,” she said.
“Oh?”
“Like you completely rejecting me.”
He looked at her in alarm. “I thought you were over that.”
“I am!”
He gave her a look of disbelief. “You know how horrible I still feel - ”
“Sebastian! I swear to Merlin it’s okay - it’s in the past - and I understand why you did it, so... no hard feelings.”
He grumbled. “You should hold a grudge.”
“Well, I don’t.” She intertwined their fingers. “Because I have you now, and that’s all that matters.”
Sebastian pulled away for a second to open the door to The Three Broomsticks. “After you, m’lady.”
She clicked her tongue. “Such a gentlemen.”
He smirked, following her in afterward. “I try to be,” he paused. “Why don’t you go pick out a table and I’ll get us drinks.”
“Okay!” She walked off.
His eyes caught her run into Anne and Ominis, sitting down with them.
“Mr. Sallow, a pleasure to see you here, what can I do for you?”
Sebastian looked at Sirona with a small smile.” Hello, Sirona, pleasure to see you as well - can I get two butterbeers?” He glanced at MC. “And a pumpkin pasty - please.”
MC’s laugh spiraled through the room. It made his stomach flutter and his heart speed up a little. He could get drunk off of the sound.
“I don’t mean to pry, but are you two still courting?” Sirona asked.
“We are,” he said, proudly. He couldn’t take his eyes off his two favorite girls giggling and smiling as if it were the best day of their life.
“Glad to see it, you two are lucky to have each other. Since the day you came into here the day of that troll attack...” She clicked her tongue a few times. “I know love when I see it - you pick up on one or two things in this business.” She smiled, warmly, setting down the drinks and the pasty.
He smiled back at her, setting down a handful of galleons. “Feels like only yesterday, honestly.” He started to juggle their order in his hands. “Thank you, Sirona.”
“Any time.” Her voiced dragged in his ears as he walked away. But, he could hear the small chuckle escape her and he could only imagine her shaking her head.
He managed to get over to the table where Ominis, Anne, and MC were sitting at without causing an accident.
“Ugh - I wish you were in Slytherin sometimes, we could have so much fun together in the common rooms.”
“Not to mention she does look good in green.” Sebastian winked, setting down her drink down in front of her. “I also got you a little extra something.” He set down the pasty.
Her eyes lit up. “Oh, Sebastian, you shouldn’t have!”
“I have a debt to pay off, you know,” he said, jokingly.
“At this rate you’d still owe her a thousand pasties and a thousand butterbeers,” Ominis commented.
“Make it two thousand,” Anne added.
Sebastian laughed, awkwardly. “Thank you for that guys,” he said through his teeth.
MC rolled her eyes, playfully. “You don’t owe me anything, Seb. I am perfectly satisfied with just having you.”
And there goes his cheeks again. Heating up into a blush.
Ominis made a noise of disgust. “A perfectly good appetite gone.”
“Oh shush - ” Anne gently nudged him. “I think it’s cute.”
Sebastian sits down next to MC. She was digging into her pasty, moaning and groaning in delight of the flavor.
Ominis shook his head. “You could at least have the decency to do that away from civilization.”
MC froze in embarrassment, looking sheepish. “Sorry!” She ripped a piece off, holding it out for Sebastian.
He delightfully took the offer. His brain short-circuited when her finger brushed his bottom lip. He taunted her by mimicking her, dramatically. “Oh - OH - that is good!”
Anne giggled.
“You know what? I agree with Ominis,” MC said with mocked bitterness. “This is getting too far, and my appetite is gone.”
“No, no!” Sebastian swallowed with a hearty laugh. “What have you eaten today?”
She looked at him, reluctantly. “A pumpkin pasty...”
His look got serious. “MC...”
“M’sorry, okay? I was worried about you when you didn’t show for breakfast.”
He grumbled under his breath and stood up abruptly. “Let me get you some real food.”
She grabbed his hand. “Seb, it’s okay - this is plenty.”
He shook his head, brushing her off, and storming off to the counter.
Anne meets MC’s pout. “It’s only because he cares.”
“I know,” MC replied. “I shouldn’t known, wouldn’t kept my mouth shut,” she paused. “I’m not even that hungry.” As if on cue, her stomach growled. Her expression faltered. “I just - he shouldn’t need to worry about me to the point where he needs to prove himself to me - I love him - a little too much if you ask me.”
Anne grabbed her hand. “Then maybe it’s time to remind him of that.”
MC nodded. “You’re right, it’s just hard.”
Ominis tilted his head. “How so?”
“you know I don’t believe in the whole house system, but others do - I mean if we were wearing our robes right now people would look at us like we were crazy, red in a sea of green. Remember last time I attempted to go into the Slytherin common room?” Anne winced at the memory. “Yeah, exactly - I can’t get him truly alone.”
“There’s the undercroft - ”
“What about the Room of Requirement?” Ominis suggested.
MC perked up. “This would be a time of need.” She thought hard about it. “Thank you, Ominis.”
A plate clamored down in front of her.
“Shepherds pie - you told me you were craving it the other day,” Sebastian said, taking his seat again. (Have any of you tried the shepherds pie at Universal? I remember it being so good.)
MC turned to face him. She leaned in and pressed her lips up against his, gently. He made a noise of surprise, but regained composure almost immediately and kissed her back. He closed his eyes and indulged in the lingering pumpkin and spice flavor on her lips.
She pulled away. “Thank you,” she whispered. She turned away to dig into her food.
Anne and Sebastian gave each other knowing looks.
Sebastian breathes out, “I should get you shepherds pie more often...” He licked his lips, and glanced at her lovingly.
He noticed her picking at it a few times and she only got halfway through it before saying she was full.
Sebastian’s eyebrows furrowed. “Are you sure?”
She nodded. “Yes.”
“Want to take the rest of it to go, at least?”
“Would it make you feel better if I did?”
“Yes, definitely.”
“Then I’ll take the rest of it!”
He smiled. “I’ll go grab you a box for it.” He leaves.
MC’s curiosity grew, thinking back to earlier this morning. “I wonder what made him feel ill this morning - he seems perfectly healthy.”
“It’s Sebastian - could’ve been anything,” Ominis noted.
She shrugged. “I guess you’re right.”
He comes back with a box. “Here you go, darling.”
“Thank you.”
She scoops the rest of her food into the box.
“Shall we head back?” Sebastian asks.
“Sure!” MC stands. “Joining us?” she inquired toward Anne and Ominis.
Anne looked toward Ominis for an answer. He sits there quietly, until.the silence alarms him. “Oh! Why do I have to decide that?”
Anne sighs, “We’ll catch up with you later.”
MC is about to respond, but Sebastian gets to it first.
“Suit yourselves.” He places a hand on the small of her back. “We’ll be on our way.”
They walk out, hands now intertwined. Sebastian holding her food in his other hand.
“That was fun,” she said as they begin their walk back to the castle.
“It was...”
“I’m glad you were able to come - it wouldn’t have been near as fun without you. How are you feeling by the way?”
He glanced at her. “I feel fine.”
“What do you think it was?”
He shook his head with a small shrug. “No idea.”
“Hm...”
“Don’t worry about it, ‘kay?” he paused. “So... about this morning - ”
“What about it?”
“You know what I’m talking about.”
Her posture straightened with pride. “He had no right to speak that way - about you, our relationship... it wasn’t right.”
“So... you meant everything?”
“Everything,” she breathed out.
A calm silence filled the air. No tension, no worries - just peace within each other’s presence.
“So, I was thinking...” she started.
“Oh?”
She continued, “I was thinking - maybe - you’d want to sneak off to the Room of Requirement with me tonight?”
He began to choke, violently coughing as his face turned red.
She grew flustered as well. “Oh bloody Hell - not like that!” she scolded, reading his mind. “I just - we rarely get time alone.”
He looked around. “We’re alone right now.”
“No, I mean, really alone. No distractions, no - ” A lady frantically ran by, clutching her chest, crying. “That.” She cleared her throat. “Just me and you.”
“Well, what about the Undercroft? Or we can sneak into the restricted section of the library? Or - ”
She groaned. “Why are you arguing with me about trying to get us some alone time?”
“I’m not arguing!” he corrected.
“You’re just being stubborn.”
“Not true...”
“Listen, just forget I said anything.” She shook her head and kept her eyes trained forward.
“No, no, let’s talk this out - so, you’re wanting some one-on-one time - I get it, but why today?” he paused. “You haven’t talked about this before.”
She sighed. “Didn’t think it was a crime - wanting to spend time with my partner.”
“Darling, that’s not - ” He inhales, sharply. “You know more than anyone how much I love being with you and spending time with you - I’m just a little curious is all - why you’re being so prominent about it now of all days.”
“Like I said - just forget it... please.”
He nodded. He linked their arms to pull her closer to him. He tilted his head ever-so-slightly toward her. “I’d love to sneak off to the Room of Requirement with you tonight,” he whispered in her ear.
She let out a soft smile, meeting his doe-eyes once. “Okay,” she whispered back.
He returned a breathtaking smile. “Perfect.”
The castle was growing bigger the closer they got.
“Big game coming up.”
She smiled. “Gryffindor against Slytherin - who are you rooting for?”
“Gotta support my house - but you know I’m always secretly rooting for you.”
“Oh!” she gasped, raising her eyebrows. “What would your people have to say about that? You’ve gone soft.”
“My people?!” He looked offended. “And I have not gone soft - if we were sentenced to duel right now, don’t think you’d get away easily.”
“I’ll hold you to that.” She pulled away when they got to the doors. “This is where I part.” She grabbed her leftover food from his hands.
He frowned. “I’ll see you later then.”
“Yes! I’ll meet you outside your common room at - let’s say - twelve?”
He nodded. “Till then.”
MC leaves. When she rounded the corner, disappearing, Imelda walks up to Sebastian.
“Surprised to see you two still at it.”
Sebastian looked at her, confused. “What do you mean?”
“A Gryffindor and a Slytherin? Sounds like a doomed relationship to me.”
“Doomed? well... you’re wrong.”
“Just give it time. Those Gryffindors - they always have to prove they’re better than us. Soon enough - you’ll be nothing more than a competition and if I learnt anything over my time being here at Hogwarts - it’s that Slytherins always have a way of losing.”
His eyes narrowed as Imelda walked away. Deep down he knew none of what she said was true, but still - his mind wandered. Was their relationship really doomed? And had it been from the start? He thought back to the beginning, but can’t seem to find solid evidence. Sure, they would bicker at each other from time-to-time - but even then he was down bad for her that it came off more like bantering. But, then he broke her heart. Now that was something he’d rather not think about right now (It’s a long story.) He found his mind wandering over MC’s biggest belief. That a house doesn’t determine someone’s path. And a house shouldn’t determine how you see people, it shouldn’t affect anything... it’s wrong. It’s like judging someone based off looks, color, size, sexual orientation, the list goes on... And if Sebastian was being honest with himself - he slowly realized that maybe she was right. ‘Cause Merlin... she wasn’t just a Gryffindor - in this case she was also a Ravenclaw, a Hufflepuff - and Hell - even a Slytherin. And maybe that’s where he felt so small. Because in his mind - he was only a Slytherin - and he loathed the thought of what everyone assumed was his dark path in the future that he truly didn’t want. But, he felt it. He’s scared that it really is true and he’ll lose MC, Ominis, and Anne for good one day. The thought made him sick.
Does he know when to stop? He worried he doesn’t.
“There you are,” she breathed. “You’re late, thought you accidentally fell asleep or something.”
Had he really been stuck in his head for so long? “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay.” She took his hand. “Let’s go.”
She guided him through the dark, empty halls of the school. Up the stairs and down some, then back up again. (Don’t get me started on that “Off on another adventure” lady.) Then there it was. She looked around before opening the door, and signaling to him to come in.
“I’m surprised,” she started. “That was surprisingly easy.”
“I’m not complaining,” he said.
Suddenly a door appeared.
She looked over at it, curiously. “Interesting...” She walked over and opened it. “Wow...”
“Find something?” He walked up to her and peeked over her shoulder.
A room, dim-lit by a roaring fireplace. A sofa, displaying pillows and blankets. She ventured further in.
“Now this is something.” She felt so warm and cozy in the atmosphere the room created for them.
He followed her in. “And this place just conjured this?”
“It creates what you need.” She sat down on the sofa. “I brought the chocolates by the way,” she said, pulling them out of her bag and setting them on the coffee table in front of her.
He sat down beside her. This caused her to avert her gaze to his face, staring at him with such a passionate intensity, one adorned by pure love.
He shifted in his spot. And there he was, back standing in front of his mirror, staring at his reflection. “What are you doing?” he blurted.
She was taken aback. “Admiring you.”
The urge to scoff bubbled in his throat. “Is that it?”
She frowned. “Is everything alright, Sebastian?”
He couldn’t help it, the words were on the tip of his tongue, it was no use attempting to hold them back. “Are we a doomed relationship?”
Oh.... how he wished he didn’t look at her. His heart sunk at the sight of hurt on her features. Immersed in sadness. He knew in that moment, this expression will haunt him in his nightmares once again - the same expression she shared with him all that time ago when he rejected her.
“What?” she whispered. “Is that what you believe?”
“Imelda said - ”
“Imelda?!” She grew frustrated. “You’re taking her opinions into consideration now?”
“Yes!” he paused, his shoulders caved in. “No...” He looked down at his shaking hands. “I don’t know! Maybe they’re right... Imelda, Leander - I mean, a Gryffindor and a Slytherin?”
“Bloody Hell!” she groaned. “Are you hearing yourself right now? Agreeing with Leander of all people! What’s gotten into you?”
“Nothing! I’m just saying - ”
“What?! What are you possibly trying to say?” She got up and paced around. “Because, it sounds like you’re trying to break up with me - ” She sighed. “You’ve been distant and I don’t.know why, but I know this isn’t you, so please...” She stopped and knelt down in front of him. “Talk to me.”
It was as if the dam broke and all came pouring out. Tears ran down his face while she was quick to engulf his into her arms, taking a place close next to him. He cried into her shoulder.
“I’m sorry!” he hiccuped.
“Shhh - it’s okay...” She rubbed his back, soothingly.
He pulled away. “No, it isn’t - I just - I’ve been feeling so insecure lately, and.everyone is getting into my head.”
“What do you mean insecure?”
He sighed, avoiding her worried expression. “You’re.- you’re so good. You’re kind and loyal and smart and talents and so open-minded, and you see the world so... differently, so beautifully. While I’m just... me.”
“I’m not quite following.”
He laughed, humorlessly. “Don’t you see?! I’m - I’m not right for you. I’m not good... I’m flawed and ugly and I’m so confused on how you can simply just look at me half the time.” He covered his face with his hands. “Because every time I look in the mirror I can’t stand what I see.”
Her heart ached, and her own tears were running now her face. “Oh, Sebastian... When I look at you - “ She sighed. “Merlin, words don’t describe it. Sebastian - you’re beautiful - inside and out...”
He shook his head. He felt her soft hands grip his wrists, gently pulling his hands away. His eyes met hers.
She gazed, longingly into his blood-shot eyes. Its brown color seemed much more prominent as they were entirely a shade darker, nearly black. But, there was still that rush of sweet honey that swirled around his iris’. “You are beautiful,” she repeated. “Yes, you have flaws, but so does everyone else in the world - you don’t know how many times I’ve - ” She cuts herself off. “The point is - we all have out insecurities, we all have our imperfections, but it’s those that makes us individuals.” She frowned a little deeper when his expression didn’t change. “Tell me,” she blurted.
“What?” he croaked.
“Tell me what you don’t like.”
“MC - no - ”
“At least one thing, one thing that you wish you could change.”
Reluctantly, he gave in with defeat. “My nose...”
She gasped, scandalized. “What?! This cute little button nose that I could kiss all day long?” She pecked the tip.of his nose. “Wish I could steal it, honestly.” Her bore into his. “What else?”
He was too enchanted by her to even realize he continued. “My cheeks - they’re too chubby.”
“Nonsense - ” She cupped his face. “To be honest I’m not into crazy cheekbones and jawlines. Yours is a perfect balance and I love them because I can do this!” She littered his cheeks his kisses, he almost let out a giggle but managed to hold back
He released a breath, that came out dreamily. “My freckles -  ” he blurted whilst she was in the midst of cutely assaulting his cheeks. “They’re just - mmm - ” His eyes closed.
Her lips pressed to his in a longing kiss before moved them down, in more of a drag to kiss along his jaw, tracing the outline of his face with her lips, she went up to his temple, then to his forehead - at this point he was dizzy and breathless.
“I would spend eternity counting every one, creating constellations that only I’d ever have the pleasure of knowing about...” she paused. “Sebastian Sallow, I am in love with you, every part of you  that most of the time I don’t know what to do.”
“Don’t stop.”
“Hm?”
“Don’t ever stop being in love with me.”
She gazed at him in awe. “Never,” she whispered.
“I’m sorry for making you think I wanted to break up with you, it’s just - ”
She stopped him. “Hey, I understand, it’s easier for people to get into our heads when we’re in a vulnerable state. But, please just promise me the next time you feel like this you’ll come talk to me.”
He nodded, hastily. “I promise.”
“Good.”
His eyes glanced over at the chocolates. She caught it and widely smiled. She grabbed the box and leaned into Sebastian’s side. As they cozied up together, they found themselves enjoying the presence of each other along with the warmth of the fire. They both listened carefully to each other’s breathing, melting together into the sofa in a state of pure bliss and relaxation.
She took a chocolate out of the box and held it up for him. “Open up.”
He gladly did, taking the thing whole. “We should do this more often,” he said with a mouthful of chocolate.
They laid down slightly, getting more and more comfortable with each minute passing.
She plopped a chocolate into her mouth. “I could get used to this.”
And there is was. Sebastian’s mind went down a new path for his future, one where him and MC lived together far away in a little cottage. Her in his arms all the time, getting to wake up next to her every morning, feeding each other sweets after supper by the fire. Maybe even a family... Whatever or wherever, he knew one thing - he wanted her to be there.
“Yeah...” he breathed. “I could get used to this too.”
If you’d like to be apart of my Sebastian Sallow taglist let me know!

Hi! Just saw your reblog and I'm so interested in your thoughts on Fig and Kipperlilly being similar, and was wondering if you'd share?
Yes! i am always down to talk about my two favorite fantasy high characters but before we get into it, some assumptions I have made about FHJY that aren't explicit in the text but I won't necessarily be justifying here:
(under the cut)
Kipperlilly was in some form or another manipulated by porter
Kipperlilly truly cared about Lucy, and to a lesser extent the rest of her party
The biggest and most obvious similarity between the two is the anger they feel. When we first see Fig she's a deeply angry kid. She hates her mom for hiding the truth of her parentage and for wrecking their family the way she did. And while she forgives Gilear much faster than Sandra Lynn, she also starts off incredibly angry at him.
Her anger is very justified, and it's centered around the ways the adults in her life mistreated her. Sandra Lynn by hiding the fundamental truth of who she is from her for so long, and Gilear by, before the start of the series, saying that she isn't a Faeth anymore.
Our introduction to Fig is her taking that anger out on both Sandra Lynn and Gilear, and she does almost immediately see the error of her treating at least Gilear the way she does.
Brennan: You see a little tear forms in his eye and you see he says, Gilear: I know that I said some hurtful things when I first found out. Fig: Yeah, you said, “You're no longer a Faeth,” and guess what, I'm not. I'm just Fig now. Gilear: Fig, I'm sitting here with beans on my shirt. Fig: I know, I saw you ate one on the ride here. Gilear: I was hungry, all right? I've put on some weight. You ever heard of a fat elf? You ever heard of it? I've never seen a fat elf in my life and I'm here with a bad comb over and beans on my shirt. Fig: Okay, fine. Gilear: And I'm reaching out to you. Fig: I'm sorry, Gilear, I'm sorry that I got angry at you. You're just some random man, I shouldn't be mean to you.
But for almost the entire season, Fig does not forgive Sandra Lynn. She's still so angry with her that she struggles to see Sandra Lynn as a complex person right up until episode 15 "Family Fires", is unsure as to whether or not Sandra Lynn is a good person worthy of saving:
Emily: Because I am undecided on my mom. Because at first, I felt like I, oh maybe she's a good person, but now I maybe feel like she's part of this ruby plot. Brennan: Go ahead and give me an insight check. Emily: (rolls) 14. (emotional acoustic guitar music) Brennan: (sighs) Your mom has never lived up to the standard you put on her of making your life good and perfect. She never was able to protect you from all harm and suffering in the world. And maybe that's not fair. And she's probably just a person, and those photos make it look like-- Emily: She's a complex person. She's allowed to be. Brennan: Yup.
So anger, and in particular the ways it can make someone lash out, is something that Fig is intimately aware of, something that she has had to fight to control herself. The difference is that the adults in her life helped her, they supported her. Gilear, Sandra Lynn, and Gorthalax all gave her the space she needed to be angry but also helped her move past that.
Kipperlilly didn't have that. To our knowledge she only had Jawbone, someone who only knew her through Aguefort and evidently did not know how to help her in the ways she needed.
There's also the matter of Porter who, in the third episode "After the Afterlife" singles Fig out when she audits barbarian class:
Porter: Let's see what everyone else in the class, [players laugh] what do other people, what do other people kind of think? Like young lady, what do you think about rage? Fig: What do I think about rage? Porter: What do you think about it? Fig: [sighs] Well, I kind of think it's inevitable, 'cause, I mean, like, people really let you down left and right. Porter: Yeah! Fig: So you're always gonna feel rage. It's just a matter of whether or not you use it productively or just whether or not you control it or it controls you. Brennan: A small tear forms in the corner of his eye. Porter: That's exactly right. That is exactly right. That is amazing.
He sees something in her. Porter sees the rage within her, and he encourages it. But more than that, Fig's perspective that "you control [rage] or it controls you" highlights another contrast between Fig and Kipperlilly. Fig learns to control her rage, while Kipperlilly literally gives control up to the shatterstar. But they still have that same rage, just on the opposite ends of expressing it.
We also know that Fig cares deeply about her friends, and that prior to the start of the series, her former friends abandoned her when she started to grow horns. She was alone when she came to Aguefort. She was isolated from her peers and from her family. She found the Bad Kids, and she is utterly devoted to her friends. She'll do anything for them.
But Kipperlilly? Brennan said in an interview with Caitlin Tyrrell that the Rat Grinders didn't know each other before forming the party. We don't know how the party formed really, but we know that she picked out the name the High 5 Heroes.
I think the High-Five Heroes part of it is sweet, but there's actually something even a little bit sinister to it to me, of being like, "We're the High-Five Heroes." And you're like, "You've pitched a name; we all just met. We don't have anything going yet." ( source )
He calls it sinister that she insisted on the name, but I can't see it as anything other than said. It speaks to me of a kid so desperate for friendship that she's willing to force inside jokes for just a hint of that. She doesn't want to be alone, and Fig might've put up a better act, but she didn't want to be alone at the start of Freshman Year either.
The difference is who they found. Fig got the Bad Kids, people who love and care about her. She had support from her friends and from her family. Kipperlilly was emotionally in a very similar state as Fig but with none of that support, and even had people who either couldn't support her (Jawbone) or wanted to encourage this isolation and rage (Porter).
Kipperlilly is Fig if the first day of school went different, if she ended up with people who didn't understand her like the Bad Kids did and if she couldn't get the support she needed from the adults in her life.

🚨SPOILERS FOR FANTASY HIGH JUNIOR YEAR EPISODE 7🚨
Dimension20 "Fantasy High Junior Year"
Episode 7 "Stress Tested"
Timestamp: 1:01:58
Video Length: 5min.
Fig talks to Zara about continuing Warlock classes + Impromptu Field Trip to the Bottomless Pit (‣Pt. 1 | Pt. 2)
Brennan: "I think if you wanted to talk to any of the teachers, you feel cool to talk-"
Emily: "I definitely wanna go to the Warlock."
Brennan: "Cool. I think, like, that night after the Twilight Ceremony is when Warlock class is anyway. So like 30 minutes later you're skateboarding into school and Zara says,"
Zara: "Ah, Miss Faeth, it is good to see you."
Fig: "Hi."
Zara: "Listen, I think I checked the roster. There's some paperwork that needs to go through. What- and I don't want to harsh your vibe."
Fig: "Right, right."
Zara: "What class on paper are you in?"
Fig: "I'm just sort of an off paper kinda person." 😂🤣💀
Zara: "Right, so you're trespassing?"
Fig: "Yeah." 😂😂
Zara: "Okay." 💀💀
Fig: "Okay, here's the deal. I think I like your class, and so I would like to keep coming."
Zara: "All right."
Fig: "So if there's a matter of paperwork, I'm willing to dot some i's and cross some t's."
Zara: "Perfect, I think this is a very wise decision. You are in Bard classes, I believe. But as long as you get permission from your Bard teacher."
Brennan: "You see she produces a contract, and a little thing of flame and it's an MCAT. She signs her name allowing you to multiclass into her class. She hands it to you and says,"
Zara: "The power of the Warlock is the power of the agreement, which is the power of the relationship. Where do you wish to draw your power from? And where do you feel that you are drawing it from now?"
Fig: "I am an archdevil of rebellion 'cause my dad was an archdevil of rebellion. Now he actually coaches-"
Zara: "Your dad is Gorthalax?"
Fig: "Yeah, Gorthalax is my dad."
Zara: "All right. Students, impromptu field trip!"
Brennan: *screaming* "And a burning sigil appears on the ground and you see a portal opens up, and you are looking at the Bottomless Pit. And you see Baby goes,"
Baby: "Oh, Mistress!"
Fig: "Hey, Wretchrot. Can we have a field trip?"
Baby: "Ah, yes! Everyone has to lick me!" 😂😂
Fig: "Well, he's the boss!"
Zara: "Is he the boss?"
Fig: "He is the boss I work for."
Zara: "Demon, no- Er, Devil" *hand motions* *magical surge* *abjures Wretchrot*
Baby: "Ah! She's killing me!" *flies away*
Brennan: "And all these Warlock students sort of, like, gingerly step through this flaming portal and you see yourself back in the Bottomless Pit. You see there's a bunch of harried-looking little spine devils and barbed devils going like,"
Devil: *grunting* "Mistress." *rubbing hands together*
Fig: "I had this actually other crazy idea. Sorry, I'm so all over the place. I was thinking we could set up a recording studio."
Devil: "A recording studio."
Fig: "Are you guys good sound technicians?"
Devil: "Hold on one second."
Brennan: "They open a pair of double doors. It is a sort of grand cathedral-esque waiting room with almost like city hall style pews. It is crammed with souls. It is just crammed with damned souls being like,"
Damned soul: "Oh, thank God."
Brennan: "And you see they come in and all the devils go,"
The devils: "We've been waiting to hear from you for some time. We're not sure how to process these. These are all edge cases and, sort of, we need a ruling on a lot of them."
Fig: "Ruling. Okay, blanket ruling: I condemn you all to rock!"
One guy way in the back: "Nooooo!"
Brennan: "And a bunch of other people start looking around and talking. And you see this one guy who's got like-"
Fig: "If you're here it's 'cause something ****** up happened in your life. Work it out in a ******* guitar, process through some nasty distorted amp. I want you to blow out the ******* electricity in here!"
Baby: *re-manifests* "Ha ha, you heard mistress. You must turn this room into the bangingest sound studio that the Nine Hells have ever seeeeen. And then lick meeee!" 😂😂
Fig: "You guys actually don't have to do that last part. Yeah."
The one guy way in the back: "Nooooo!"
Fig: "You can. You can."
Brennan: "And you see that all of these damned souls begin to toil in the burning heat. Then sort of start constructing, like, booths. So you see that one of the barbed devils goes- with a nasty cat of nine tails is like,"
Barbed devil: "Get foam!" *whip cracking*
Fig: "No, no, no. We can't do that."
Emily: "Can I take his little nine of cat tails and give him a guitar?"
Barbed devil: *starts playing a guitar*
Ally: "He's a noodler! Oh no, he's a noodler!"
Barbed devil: *weeping* "The music feels so good!" *keeps playing guitar*
Fig: "Okay. Yeah."

Bloodstatus
Tumblr media
Description: Ominis and you are talking about your family. Ominis x f!reader
Warnings: none
You sat in the undercroft, exhausted after exercising some spells usually you would go to the Room of Requirement, but since DADA would start in like an hour, you thought practicing near by would give you more time before the class starts.
You heard foot steps approaching, "Sebastian? Are you in there?". A familiar voice asked. Hence only three people would enter this room, you knew it was Ominis. "Hello Ominis, I'm afraid he is not.", you greeted him with a smile, he couldn't see it but your tone gave him a welcoming feeling. "What a shame I wanted to talk with him, but since you are here, I could also ask you as well.", he declared. Wondering what he want, you wait as he asked you, "Why is it that you and Sebastian seemed to avoid each other? Usually you two stick together all the time. Did something happened between the two of you?" "Oh", you said, with a saddening voice, "well we had an argument about Goblins, but I rather would not talk about it, if it is ok to you Ominis." - "Well sure, I'm sorry that I had ask you." hearing you being uncomfortable, Ominis tried to change the subject, "I've always wondered what your parents are be like."
"Pardon me?", you didn't expect that turn of the conversation, you went silent for a moment with a concerned expression, as you remembered how it was grewing up in your household. "I only know my family and they are rather unpleasant, I've never had a chance to meet different parents and how they would be like. I only imagined it, hearing of your fast success with every charm and potion making, I assume your parents would be quite proud of such a talented witch like you.", Ominis explained himself.
"Actually it is quite the opposite, Ominis. Almost as your parents but on the other side of the coin.", you told him, with a doubtfull face. "Really, are they also having a pureblood obsession or anything like that?", he dig even more for answers from you.
"No. They are muggles.", you confessed. "Muggles, really?", he frowned, "such a powerful witch, which is a muggleborn? Hilarious thinking of it." "Again pardon me, Ominis? I thought blood status didn't matter to you at all.", you replied. "Sorry, it came out wrong. I didn't mean to insult you, just the thought of it. I'm sure that you are the most capable witch of all time, knowing that you are indeed muggleborn is a punch right in the stomach for every pureblood fanatic. It is actually funny, thinking of it like that.", he reassured you.
"Putting it like that does sound a bit funny. But you wanted to know what it is like with my family. And I can guarantee you it is nothing at all like you would expect. See, as muggles they never knew that such a wonderful place like hogwarts even exist. Despite they aren't believing in such things, if they would be confronted with it, they would be confused. They would say it is the devils work. So you can imagine when I got my first letter, I didn't got the chance to open it myself. In fact the first three letters got thrown away, they thought that someone is playing pranks on our family or maybe that some sort of satanic cult tries to lure their daughter away from home. One time I got lucky enough to read one letter, wondering what Hogwarts was and the list of things I would need to buy. But when they found the letter in my room, they punished me and sent me to a monastery to live there for years. Until one time Professor Fig approached me. I was first hesitant, since the cult thing could have been real. But Fig asked me if I never encountered some sort of happnings which could have not be explained with rational thinking. My parents are faithful in god, so of course everything that's happened could be explained by it was gods way of showing his love. But I never felt that way. And also Fig was right, I've made things appear, it always seemed when I cried the sky always cried with me. So one time I snugged out of the monastery, to meet Professor Fig, he disapparated with me to diagon ally, to proof me that it was real that it wasn't a cult."
You went silent about your thoughts how the things between you and your parents have had ended. "Wow, I certainly couldn't imagine that, but I've heard muggles would be narrow minded if it includes some sort of magic. I'm sorry, that your parents are pleasant as mine", Ominis said putting a hand on your shoulder to comfort you. "Well it wasn't the end of it, I was doubting on telling my parents the truth. Part of me would loved to share those news with them, but deep down I knew the truth is, if I would have ever tell them about that wizarding world with all seriousness, they would have try to exorcist me or drag me to an asylum, I'm pretty sure of it. But I didn't want to go, leaving them heartbroken without any trace of my disappearance. So I've left a letter, that I want to take the path for my future in my own hands and that I will leave them, as long as I need to.", with tears in your eyes and some melancholy you told everything Ominis have wanted to know.
"Thank you, Y/N. For trusting me and to share your history with me. I'm truly sorry, about you feeling alone , as I do and having a family you can not return to. I promise you, that I will always be there for you." he assured you, with a soft smile. Feeling warmth in your chest, you thanked him, "Thank you Ominis for your kind words, I'm always thinking to visit them some day, not sure about if I will ever be willing to tell them the truth, even if lying is a sin. I think honesty will only do harm, I don't want to lose them entirely. Knowing that you will be there for me really makes the loneliness inside of me disappear. Maybe it is true that family doesn't end in blood." - "And it doesn't start there either.", he finished your sentence, while being closer to your face. You saw his lips and glared at his wonderful blue eyes not leaving them.
"Is it ok if I?", he asked hesitant. "I would love to, Ominis", allowing him, he moved his face closer until his nose peaked at your cheek, trying not to mess up he slowly tried to find your face with his hand. You assisted him by putting your hand over his to guide him to your chin. As he softly searched with his tumb for your lips, he blushed feeling your soft underlip. He always imagined it to feel like that. He lean in, pressing his lips gentle at yours. If there was a heaven, he surely was there now. Knowing that you trust him, makes him feel so close to you, that he wanted to feel it also on the outside. Letting him in to your vulnerability, gave him the confidence to be your guard, your safe haven.
He promised to himself, that he will never leave your side. Ominis ended the kiss with a smile. Taking a deep breath, you went in for a hug, pressing yourself thight to him. You wanted to be at him as near as possible. He brushed with his hand over your silky hair, he smelled at them, he went crazy for your scent. He could always tell your presence, because of it.
"Ominis, I think the class will start soon.", you've realized, not wanting to leave that comfort you're just feeling. "We should go, and continue exploring each other later. Shall we?", he took out his wand to guide himself to move out of the undercroft, holding your hand to accompany him. Your head was a mess, exploding by figuring out what he just meant with exploring each other later.
As you joined the class you two shared one desk, a Sebastian, sitting at the desk on the corner behind you, looked confused by his best friend holding hands with you. But you didn't even capture his expression, your eyes, head and thoughts were all one and only about Ominis. Hecat started the class, but all you could think was what he meant by exploring each other later.

Ok, I just found your wonderful blog and can't help myself, I have to ask for a request TwT One of my too many ideas would be: HLC's reaction - professors included - to Mc's Excuse after MC was really mean in an argument. I have an almost-Slytherin-but-then-Hufflepuff-MC, so...xD If you would like to do that - pls feel free to make it as fluffy or serious as you like - it would make me "Happy as Fig"....yes, thank you a lot! <3
A/N: I feel this one on a personal level. Let's make it soft with MC saying sorry
HLC REACT TO MC APOLOGIZING AFTER A HEATED ARGUMENT
MC: They know there's no real excuse for what they said. They could give their reasons, prescriptive and feelings at the time of the argument but they can't un-say what left their mouth. They almost wished they knew how to use the memory charm. Then they might not be standing there awkwardly awaiting the judgment from their friends and professors.
SEBASTIAN SALLOW: He sighs. "If we haven't been through what we have up to this point, I wouldn't accept your apology. But...we've both said things we regret. No point in dwelling." He smiles and offers the seat next to him for them to join him for study. When they sit down, he whispers out the side of his mouth. "Now, if you want me to forget, on top of forgiving you, you'll help me with my most recent relic discovery."
OMINIS GAUNT: He's been rigidly silent since the argument. MC almost walks away before he finally speaks. "I'm tired, MC. I'm tired of people hurting me. While I understand that words are difficult when emotions run high, please, don't say things you don't mean." His entire world is transcribed in sound, so people's words mean more to him than most. MC's apology better be sincere if they hope to keep him as a friend.
ANNE SALLOW: MC's apology leaves a bitter taste in her mouth, no matter how sincere they are. She's heard these types of "I'm sorry" speeches from Sebastian and her uncle before. Do they really expect her to forget everything just because they feel bad? "I'll accept your apology, on the condition that you don't speak to me like that going forward. If a conversation becomes too heated, I think at best if we take a break and let cooler heads prevail."
IMELDA REYES: "Oh, you're sorry? Go boil your head." She practically spits at them as she returns to what she's doing. She doesn't forgive easily. She's burned too many bridges in her life to care about one more. At least, that's what she keeps trying to tell herself. What MC had said really hurt and she hates the fact that they have that sort of effect on her.
NATSAI ONAI: "I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have let my pride escalate things the way they did. Maybe then we wouldn't be in this position. It is big of you to apologize first. Thank you, my friend." She opens her arms for a hug. If MC isn't a hugger, she just gives them a smile.
GARRETH WEASLEY: He won't admit it to them, but he had screwed up more than one brew from accidentally crying into it. What they said really hurt and now that they were apologizing, he was struggling to keep it together. "No, I'm not- *sniff* crying. I got batwing fumes in my eyes. I....I just want us to be friends again, okay?"
LEANDER PREWETT: He didn't have much self esteem before he met MC, and now that his worst fears were confirmed by them berating him because he disagreed with them, he felt worse than ever. Hearing them apologize to him felt surreal. No one ever apologized to him. Somehow, he was always in the wrong. He feels more vulnerable than ever. "So...does this mean you don't hate me?"
AMIT THAKKAR: He stubbornly holds on to his frustration with MC. He KNOWS he's in the right. They were being unreasonable and resorted to insults out of egotistical retaliation. They surprise him when they come back. "I'll admit, I didn't think I'd see you again for a while. It takes a lot for someone to swallow their pride and admit they were wrong. Thank you, for apologizing."
EVERETT CLOPTON: He thought that was it. MC didn't want to be his friend anymore. He couldn't look them in the eye, even when they needed to tell him something important. He's stuck in his own head until he hears them say the words "I'm sorry." He snaps out of it and stares wide eyed at them. "Really? You mean it? This isn't...you're not messing with me, are you?" He needs some reassurance, but afterwards he'll forgive it easily.
POPPY SWEETING: "Well look who came crawling back." Her eyes are full of malice. This won't be an easy apology. As soft spoken as she is, her heart is hardened to people who've wronged her. It's her defense mechanism. MC will have to do more than say, they'll have to prove it.
~~~
MC's got a lot of gall to think arguing with their professors was a good idea.
ELEAZAR FIG: He knows them better than anyone else in the school. They'd come around, they just needed space. He hadn't punished them for what they said. He smiles warmly when they come back and puts a hand on their shoulder. "It takes a lot of courage to admit you're wrong. Thank you, for showing how much you've grown and matured. I know plenty of adults who wouldn't do what you've just done. They would double down, if anything else. I'm proud of you."
MATILDA WEASLEY: She had taken SO many house points. No one argues with the deputy headmistress and gets away with it unscathed. "It isn't to me you should apologize. I'm sure your housemates aren't too pleased to hear that they are now in dead last because of you. Better get to work earning those back."
CHIYO KOGAWA: "Nothing like manual labor to bring out the regret of one's actions." She had them organizing and repairing the quidditch supplies without magic. "Thank you for apologizing, now get back to it. The quidditch season may have been canceled this year, but it needs to be ready for the next."
AESOP SHARP: He gives them an indeterminate reply to their apology, but, deep down, he's impressed. While they had certainly gone too far with their argument, they apologized for making it personal. He can relate to being so passionate about something that you're willing to defend it, tooth and nail. That didn't stop him from taking house points and giving them detention. They were stuck organizing and counting the alchemy supplies.
ABRAHAM RONEN: He hadn't taken house points or given detention. While what they said was certainly disrespectful, he did not believe that the lashing of adolescence should be so strongly punished. They were clearly passionate about their argument. He only wished he could understand their point of view better. He's proud of them for apologizing and rewards them with house points.
MIRABEL GARLICK: As much as she tries to keep her teaching environment positive, she will not stand for disrespectful behavior. She takes house points and dismisses MC before she gives them detention. Her heart melts when MC returns looking so sorrowful and full of regret. She forgives everything and is willing to let bygones be bygones, just don't let it happen again.
MUDIWA ONAI: MC's boldness doesn't surprise her. As long as it was just the two of them, she was willing to let everything slide. If MC had tried doing that in front of students, she would have to make an example of them. She doesn't take house points or gives detention, merely expresses her disappointment. It must have done the trick, because MC almost immediately apologized.
BAI HOWIN: MC must have been aching to muck out the beast pens by hand, speaking to her in such a way, because that's exactly what they got. Three consecutive days of detention just to clean every single beast pen. She nods curtly when they apologize.
DINAH HECAT: She isn't phased in the slightest by MC's outburst, but her eyes tell MC they have gone too far. There's a darkness in them warning MC to back down before she puts them down. "I suggest you get to your next lesson, MC. Wouldn't want you to get lost. Hogwarts is as unforgiving as it is beautiful to those who exploit it's patience." She walks away, not particularly accepting or denying any apology.
CUTHBERT BINNS: He was taken aback by MC so fervently accosting him. He had never been spoken to in such a way by a student in life or in death. He wasn't really sure how to handle it. He gives them a nod when they eventually apologize. "Very good then. Now...in 1252, the goblins-"
SATYAVATI SHAH: She gave detention. That's where MC surprised her with their sincere apology. She narrows her eyes, searching for any sign of weakness. They passed. "I'm sure you've seen the error of your ways, but you still have to finish polishing all of the telescopes by hand."
PHINEAS NIGELLUS BLACK: They're lucky they weren't expelled for what they said. He haughtily huffs and shoos them away like they're an annoying gnat. "Your detentions start tonight. I suggest you get going." He did have slight satisfaction that they were apologetic, but that was likely only because they had detention every night for the rest of the year.
Chapter 3
Part 6
Edwart received an urgent letter from Natty telling him to meet her in the middle of the night. Near some castle, thankfully Nattie did attach directions. So he sneaked out of the Hogwarts grounds and quietly flew his broom.
“I am glad that you received my owl. We need to stay low and remain quiet.”
“Natty. What's going on? Why are we all the way out here?” Edwart said quietly.
“As promised, I did some investigating to find out what Harlow is up to. I followed him to the Hog's Head. I noticed him reading a letter. All I could see was that it was signed by and bore the seal of Victor Rookwood.” She took a long deep breath.
“And one other thing Harlow has mentioned you to his colleagues, they did not mistake you for someone else did they?”
Edwart just got caught in a lie. No choice now but to tell Natty the truth.
“No they didn't, Rookwood and Harlow are after me.”
“Why did you lie to me?” Nattie was visibly displeased. “And what do they want with a Hogwarts student?
Edwart sighed heavily “Because. I haven't known you for a very long time and I..” He stumbled on his words. “I'm sorry. I was told not to tell anyone. And I'm not a very trustful person. Is it necessary I tell you right now?”
Natsai was clearly disappointed. She shook her head as she explained further.
“That letter is the tangible proof that Officer Singer needs. It is why I followed Harlow here and why I wrote to you. I need your help to retrieve it. We can talk about it later if you'd like. But you can trust me.”
“Alright. I'll help you find the letter, Natty.” Edwart agreed.
“I'm glad to hear it.” Natty smiled a bit. “First, we must access the castle keep. I'll check the main gate. But I think we have to find another way in. I do not see any guards, but we should still try to be as quiet as possible. Harlow is here after all.”
While Edwart and Natty were quickly sneaking through the castle. Edwart began to think if he should trust Natty or not. Her mother was a Professor and it could expose his and Fig's plans. She was definitely a good person. He was feeling conflicted.
“That is the main keep.” Natty pointed while looking at Edwart.“My guess is that we'll find Harlow and the letter inside.”
“Wait.” Edwart grabbed Natty by hand. “Someone's coming. Quick! Behind there.”
They've both hidden behind a crate when Edwart heard a familiar cheeping.
 “Gah! Restrain the beast!” Harlow screamed angrily while other poachers were hitting the animal with casts to tame it.
“Shit! Highwing!” Edwart whispered anxiously.
“Do you know that Hippogriff?” Natty looked bewildered.
Tumblr media
“It’s a long story.” Edwart sighed.
“Very well, new plan.” Edwart looked at Natty surprised. “I get the evidence and you free that Hippogriff. Agreed?”
“Thank you.” Edwart managed to say through slight shock.
“This is our chance. Let's go!”
Both of them ran out of their cover but only Natty made it through the closing gate.
“Blasted!” Edwart swore to himself "I hope Natty will be okay…”
Sebastian raised his head a bit to look at his friend sitting in bed next to him with a wand in his book.
Sebastian was exhausted. The events of Feldcroft with Edwart uncovered so many new things, that he felt mentally drained. He fell into his bed face first as Ominis chuckled and said. “I take it, he told you?”
“Ah. If only you knew half of it.” Sebastian signed heavily as he turned to lay on his back. “Edwart… Told me... About his past.”
“Oh?” Ominis made an intriguing noise. “About his ability I presume. Or something else?”
“Yes, his ancient magic thing. and yes more. He knew we might talk so he gave me consent to pass that story on to you. I think he might compete with you, for the most hostile place to live I've heard of…” Sebastian joked trying to ease himself at the thought of the traumatic backstory of his friend.
“I'm listening?” Ominis said, raising an eyebrow as he put down his book.
Sebastian started telling Ominis everything that happened today in Feldcroft to the point of finding the triptych in the Undercroft. Telling Ominis about the tragic story of their mutual friend.
“I guess. Do you think he said everything there is?” Sebastian asked
“Merlin's beard…” Ominis said under his breath with a concerned face. “I’m simply out of words… I can't imagine Edwart become violent like that. But his distrust to the world makes more sense now.”
“I don't. He always finds a way to surprise us.” Ominis chuckled.
“True. He volunteered to help me with finding a cure for Anne. You know what that means Ominis. With his ability and you being Salazar Slytherin's descendant, we could really find a cure. Don't make me beg.” Sebastian pleaded.
Ominis just shook his head. “Already told you, Sebastian. No. Whatever cursed Anne was connected to Dark Arts. I will not meddle in it again. I will help you with anything else but not with finding the scriptorium.”
“But there's a chance-” Sebastian tried again but Ominis interrupted him.
“I said no Sebastian.” And he went back to his book, ending the conversation as Sebastian brooded and muttered under his breath like a child…
It took Edwart quite a while to find Highwing. But she wasn't alone. There was another Hippogriff next to her. Chained to the ground. Edwart fought through his slight fear towards such a big animal so he threaded carefully.
“Highwing. It's all right. there we go.” He cooed as he ruffled her feathers. “We’re calm. I am calm. We have to go okay? I’ll help you.”
As if she understood him she chirped happily at Edwart and let him climb her.
“There you are!” Natty finally appeared.
Natty used an Alohamora to free both Hippogriffs. Just then Harlow and the Poachers showed up. That's when Highwing decided it was time to fly.
“We have to go!” Edwart spoke, shaking slightly.
She grabbed Natty by her arms and dropped her perfectly onto the other Hippogriff. That's when Edwart and Natty heard “Avada Kedavra” which set chills down their spines as a green long spell flew to their side. Thankfully it didn’t hit either of them. Natty seemed to have the time of her life. That's when Edwart first saw that famous Gryffindor Bravery.
As they were lowering to land, a sun was starting to peek out through the nearby mountains announcing the start of another day. Edwart was grateful it was a Saturday morning.
Tumblr media
“How exciting!” Natty laughed.
“I'm glad you had such a good time.” Edwart said, shaking with “I wasn't sure we were going to make it out alive.”
“There was no need to worry. I had it all under control.” Natty said, still giggling.
Edwart shot her an unconvinced face, he signed as Natty continued more seriously now. “I will say I did not expect to see him cast the Killing Curse at us. He won't forget this. Be on your guard.”
“Of course. What did the letter say?”
“First can you finally tell me the story of why are Harlow and Rookwood after you? Don’t think I’ve forgotten.”
“Blasted.” Edwart thought. “I don't feel safe telling her everything.” He decided to play it differently.
“Fine, they're after me because of something I found in Gringotts with Professor Fig.”
“When were you in Gringotts?” Natty asked, clearly surprised.
“Just before the sorting ceremony. I found something they want that is very valuable and could give Rookwood and Harlow great power. That's why me and Professor Fig are working together. To try and destroy it.” Edwart lied. He hated doing that. But he had no choice. He didn't trust Natsai yet. He wanted to tell her. But thinking about how long it took him to trust and finally tell Sebastian and Ominis even though Professor Fig told him to keep quiet. It wouldn't be fair. To either of them.
“Hm… I understand.” Natty replied thoughtfully. “The letter said that Rookwood's looking for a phoenix. Not sure where he will find one.” Natty chuckled “It also included Harlow's orders to inspect that castle for the poachers. Thank you for your help. This should be enough to connect Harlow to the crimes. I shall deliver the letter to Officer Singer. She'll have to do something when she sees it.”
“I’m glad to have helped you.” Edwart smiled shyly.
Tumblr media
“Now,” Natty said with a bright smile. “Tell me, where did you meet these Hippogriffs?”
Edwart chuckled. “I’ve met Highwing before. Poppy introduced us.”
“Poppy Sweeting knows a Hippogriff?” Natty laughed, “Of course she does. She will be relieved to know that Highwing's safe. Looks like I came to the right person for help.”
“Oh. I am always at your service. Whenever you need me to help you, Rob some poachers.” Edwart joked light-heartedly.
“My mother will be worried. I must go. Seek me out soon. I shall have much to tell you.” Natty chuckled and with that, she flew away on her brown hippogriff.
Edwart was loving this. He could run into danger. But he was so glad Natty wasn't aware of his special ability. This made him feel a little bit more like a regular student… but then he remembered he was sitting on Highwing…
Thank you so much for reading Part 6. Two more to go! As some of you have probably understood, this takes place the same day Feldcroft trip does. Ah Natty! such a well written female gryffindor. And a comeback of Highwing! (actually found a perfect giff for it!) Edwart finally befriended Higwing. People who read everything are aware of how afraid he was at first. She's slowly growing on Edwart. I still haven't done her side mission with that Archie kid, but I will in Chapter 4. Sorry for her fans:)
A Proper Hogwarts Welcome
Nebbia looked back at him slowly, her eyes wandering over his face. “So what do I do now?” she then asked with a faint voice.
Sebastian frowned at that, before leaning back and crossing his arms in front of his chest, thinking hard. “I'm sure Professor Fig is already researching about whatever you found in that vault, so you leave that to him. As for you: just be a Hogwarts student, I suppose. That is harrowing enough, you shouldn't have to deal with anything else on top of that. But you're a quick learner and a Ravenclaw, I am absolutely certain that you will have no problem with that.” He gave her a reassuring smile as she raised her eyebrows at that. “And about Ranrok and Rookwood. Well, you heard Sirona, you should be careful, probably shouldn't walk about alone outside of Hogwarts.”
She sighed deeply and lowered her gaze, staring at her hands in her lap. “Sounds so easy when you say that,” she whispered.
“It is. Focus on one thing at a time and it'll be fine. And if you struggle with anything, which I doubt, but let's say you do at one point, please, do not hesitate to call on me. You might have bested me in a duel, but I can still be of some assistance to you, I'm sure.”
Nebbia blushed under the smile he gave her and he smiled even wider noticing it. His eyes wandered over her face, taking in every single detail, from her small, slightly pointy nose, to the finely arched eyebrows and the scar running through one of them to her long lashes and those deep green eyes that sparkled in the light of the fire crackling behind him. When he looked at her lips, it was his turn to feel a little bit warmer. He probably shouldn't stare at her mouth this intently, but he couldn't help himself.
He was too curious. About how her lips would feel on his.
Said lips were moving then and he noticed her teeth behind them and that little sliver of tongue peeking through. Unconsciously or not, he felt himself licking his own – until he flinched badly and almost bit down on his tongue as he felt her kicking him under the table.
“Ow! What was that for?”
She stared at him, grinning darkly. “You keep looking at me until you zone out! I hate talking to myself here, okay?”
“What? Oh,” he made and quickly rubbed the back of his neck as he looked away eventually. “I'm sorry. I...” He looked back at her, ready to tell her the truth, but perhaps it was a little too much? Too forward? She watched him curiously, apparently not too angry about him staring at her like that. “You are quite distracting, you know that?” he then admitted, tilting his head, a smirk creeping onto his face.
Her eyes went wide at the comment and she blushed even more. It took her only a few seconds to change that expression into one of indignation. “Hang on! That's how I was able to best you in that duel, wasn't it? Because you were... distracted?”
He raised his eyebrows, impressed by her quick observation, before he barked a loud laugh. “Well, what can I say...”
“I didn't win because I was better, I won because you can't control your bloody hormones!” she went on, despite the accusing tone with a smile on her face. “I can't believe it!”
Sebastian watched her with amusement, his cheeks hurting from smiling so much. “Look at it this way, you fought with everything you had, your body included, and you won fair and square, details don't matter!”
She shook her head and chuckled. “I want a rematch!” she then demanded and leaned back, crossing her arms in front of her chest like him.
“Right now?” he challenged her and leaned forwards a little, his eyes boring into hers.
“If you're up for it! Though I bet I'll just beat you again, with how distracted you already are by me right now...” she teased and poked her tongue out at him.
He laughed and couldn't help but lower his eyes to her mouth once more. Then he saw her put a hand in front of her lips and he looked back into her eyes with a smirk.
“Can you stop for one second?” she laughed from behind her fingers. “It's getting ridiculous!”
He chuckled and leaned back, throwing his hands up in defeat. “I apologize. I shouldn't be so forward, you are right. That's not very gentleman-like of me, I agree.”
She snorted at that and shook her head. “I honestly never saw you as a gentleman,” she commented and tilted her head as it was her turn to look him over.
“Not? My, now I am quite offended!” he said with a mock-frown. “Did I not just protect you from an evil wizard and did I not just offer you my assistance? Oh and remember how I selflessly agreed to accompany you to Hogsmeade?”
Her smile faltered slightly at that as she assessed his words. “Do gentlemen do these things? I never actually met one, you know,” she said and grinned. “I mean, look at you. With your messy hair and those unruly eyebrows and how you wear your shirt rolled up to your elbows and the state of your tie... is that gentleman-like?”
“That's body-shaming, my dear,” he said and raised an eyebrow, then thought about his eyebrows and if they were really that unruly. “And it was a hot day, alright? And I just fought a bloody troll!” he added and threw his hands up. “Also, being a gentleman is not about looks, it's about deeds. Treating the fairer sex with respect and admiration and proper care –”
She watched him with growing amusement and it only made him become more flustered. “You're right, my turn to apologize. I am sorry, I forgot about the troll, to be honest...”
He scoffed and gave her a playful glare. “Is that all you can say to that?”
She leaned closer, propped on her elbows as she looked at him with a soft smile. “I do appreciate all you have done for me thus far, I honestly do.”
“Why do I hear a but?” he replied, arching his eyebrow.
“You hear a butt?”
“A but!” he repeated, furrowing his forehead. “Like in 'you're nice, but...'”
“Your nice butt?” She had way too much fun with this, the way she was snickering.
He glared at her, stunned by her wit. Yet when he recovered rather quickly after all, he shot her a smirk. “So you think I have a nice butt?”
Her turn to be stunned apparently. She cleared her throat and looked away, definitely thinking about his butt now. He laughed loudly, as she started to defend herself. “Listen, I... I mean, even if, how was I not supposed to notice that? You kept walking in front of me and you are so much taller and my eyes like to rest on a certain height and...”
“Tell me more,” he teased and leaned onto the table, his chin on his hand as he watched her closely.
She blushed and pursed her lips. “Hey, I was giving you a compliment! Not about your butt, that was just a stupid play on words. Earlier. I really appreciate your help, I do. No buts or the like. And I would definitely come back to it, should I need it. I would be stupid not to.” She inhaled deeply and leaned back in her chair, frowning slightly as he kept grinning at her despite her genuine words.
“So, do you like my butt or not?” he asked, winking at her.
“Sebastian!” Her blush grew deeper.
He only laughed as she tried to kick him again. For a short moment, as he was wrapped up by joy and playful banter, definitely enjoying the company of this new girl, he felt a sharp pain in his heart as his sister's tortured face made an appearance in the back of his mind. For a moment his smile faltered, tainted by the sudden re-emergence of her dire situation and the guilt he felt for being happy when she was not. He cleared his throat to hide it and looked away then, inhaling sharply.
Nebbia shouldn't have picked up on that, but she did. Yet she didn't mention anything, she just looked at him, a sliver of concern behind her smiling eyes.
“Would you like another Butterbeer?” he then asked, quickly falling back into his smug demeanour. “I feel we were robbed of our first ones.”
She nodded, almost a little shyly now. “Sounds good.”
“Then let me be the gentleman and get us some, alright?” he offered and threw her a wink, before he stood up. Her eyes followed his movement and she nodded again. He looked at her for a moment, then he turned away and walked back to the counter, ordering two more Butterbeers from Sirona. The task gave him time to regain his composure as he focused on not spilling the large tankards when he eventually returned to their table in the far back.
Nebbia's hands reached out and helped him as she grabbed one of the tankards and put it down carefully. He sat back down, raising his Butterbeer in front of him, and declared: “To a day full of surprises!”
She arched an eyebrow at that.
“Or... to new friends?” he suggested with a laden smile.
She smiled back and took the large mug with both hands and gently pushed it against his. “To new friends.”
They drank in silence, both looking at each other over the edge of their Butterbeers. He watched her closely. She seemed to enjoy the drink as much as her first one, her eyes big and excited as she slurped away happily, more foam gathering on her upper lip. He focused on her happiness and slowly pushed the darkness back into the depth of his mind.
“This is not really... beer, is it?” she then asked, licking the foam off her lip – and he had to really force himself not to stare once more.
“Not the traditional kind, no, but there is some alcohol in it,” he told her, taking another sip of his own drink.
“There is?” she squeaked, either in surprise or terror.
He laughed softly. “Tiny amounts. Barely noticeable when you're a human, but I have heard of cases in which house elves got really knackered on Butterbeer. And even though you may be short, you are not a house elf, so don't worry,” he concluded and smirked at her.
When she lifted up her foot to kick him once again under the table, he quickly leaned down and grabbed her ankle, holding her leg as he stared at her with a wicked grin. She blushed deeply and her mouth fell open slightly as she tried to get her leg back, but he held it tightly between his fingers, squeezing softly.
“Did you want to say anything?” he teased.
“Stop calling me short,” she whispered, inhaling sharply when he slipped his other hand under the table to slide it up her shin to her knee.
“Only when you grow a few inches,” he whispered back, his hand now moving around her knee until he teased his fingers right against the back, giving her one quick tickle before she shrieked and squirmed, almost spilling her Butterbeer as she kicked against the table.
“Stop!” she hissed and slapped his hand away, her entire face flushed as she stared at him breathlessly.
He leaned back in his chair, releasing her leg before he put his hands back around his tankard.
“What happened to being a gentleman?” she muttered, focusing back on her own drink.
“You said I wasn't one, so why should we keep pretending?” he countered with a smirk, taking a big sip of Butterbeer.
Now it was her turn to surprise him as she suddenly leaned over the table, extended a finger and brashly wiped her finger over his upper lip, picking up the foam that had gathered there. He stared at her with wide eyes as she leaned back and licked the foam off her finger, her green eyes boring into his as she did so.
He was absolutely stunned, feeling his own cheeks warming up badly.
Of course she noticed his reaction and leaned back with a satisfied smirk, giving her lips another swirl of her tongue. Everything inside of him was fighting against the urge to jump over the table and press his mouth against hers, tasting that sweet little tongue right there and then. Instead he breathed loudly through his nose as he pressed his lips together, slowly shaking his head.
“What? We've established that you're not a gentleman, so I don't have to be a lady either!” she said with a chuckle. “Which I'm not, believe me. Far from it.”
“Is that how you got your scar?” Sebastian then asked, watching her closely.
She frowned at the sudden change of topic and mindlessly fingered the line running across her right eye. There was no more playfulness in her face, even her blush went down rapidly.
“I'm sorry,” he said quickly, furrowing his forehead. “I didn't mean to pry.” He continued watching her, before he leaned closer. “Look, I got one too,” he said and pointed his index finger at the little white line right beneath the left corner of his lips. “From a fight with my sister,” he told her, trying to coax more information out of her.
“You have a sister?” she then asked, going a different direction than he had hoped.
“Yes, Anne, she's my twin,” he replied, forcing himself to stay neutral about it.
“Is she in Hogwarts too?”
“She was... she's not well at the moment,” he said quietly, his heart beating a little bit faster. “But... she'll be better soon and back at Hogwarts in no time!” he told her, trying to convince himself as well. He had tried to sound hopeful, as cheery as possible, but again she seemed to pick up on the little dark undertone of his voice.
“I'm sorry about your sister,” she whispered across the table.
He looked away at that and raised his tankard to drink the last remnants of Butterbeer in one big gulp. Once he was done, he wiped his mouth and set it down with a loud sigh.
“Well, what do you say we get another one?” he asked, smirking at her, falling back into the habit of pretending that everything was fine. A game he had become pretty good at recently.
She watched him solemnly and shook her head. “I think we should head back to the castle. I bet it's already late...”
He frowned at her and after a quick glance at his pocket watch, he sighed deeply. “I suppose you're right...” He looked up at her. “Can't have you breaking curfew on your first day, eh?”
Nebbia chuckled at that. “That's for my second day, you say?” she replied with a small wink. It was either the wink or the tone of her voice or the gleam in her eyes, but something told him that he should keep this girl close. She was too precious to let go, too perfect.
When they left The Three Broomsticks later, he led her to the nearest Floo Flame. After her initial wariness of stepping out onto the dark streets of Hogsmeade as her mind went back to Victor Rookwood's threat, she was now staring at the green flame and Ignatia Wildsmith's stony face.
“Okay, hang on just a second. You mean to tell me we could have used the Floo Flame network to get from Hogwarts to Hogsmeade instead of walking?” Her eyes wandered to his face, wide and almost furious. “Why did we walk?”
He chuckled. “To see all the fine landmarks, of course! Come on, it was a nice little exercise, you'll certainly need it if you want to traverse the castle without breaking down every other step. Remember, there are 142 staircases in Hogwarts and probably twice as many hallways.”
She glared at him, then looked back at the green flame. “So how does this work?” she then asked, looking directly at the moving face, which looked right back, blinking and frowning at the girl.
“You take a little bit of this,” he told her and pointed at the Floo powder in a bowl beneath the flame. “You state where you want to go, loud and clearly, then you throw the powder into the flame.”
She tilted her head, taking a step back. As curious as her expression was, there was also fear in it, uncertainty. “Perhaps we should just walk...” she whispered.
“Nonsense!” he exclaimed. “Especially not at night, with Rookwood looking for you. Come on, we'll do it together this time, to get you acclimated.” Sebastian held out his hand for her. “Trust me.”
Nebbia stared at his hand, biting her lip, before she extended hers and slowly put it between his long fingers. He quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her closer. With a gasp she looked up at him.
“We're usually not supposed to travel in pairs, but if you stand really close to me, this should work just fine,” he told her and put his free hand on her waist, gently pushing her against his body. He saw her cheeks blushing in the eerie green glow of the flame, her eyes were sparkling with a mixture of excitement and worry. “Hold onto me,” he said quietly.
She gingerly let go of his hand and raised her arms to wrap them around his torso, still looking up at him with wide eyes. He moved his hand to her lower back, slowly pushing her flush against him. Then he reached out his free hand and grabbed a handful of Floo powder. While holding her agitated gaze, he stated “Hogwarts, Bell tower!” and then threw the powder onto the green flame.
With a whoosh and a firm tug to his navel during which he heard her gasp loudly as she clung to him tighter, the green flame engulfed them both and pulled them through time and space until they landed with another whoosh on the intricate stone floor of the Bell tower. At first he was glad they ended up with their feet firmly on the ground, but then she swayed and with her arms still tightly around him, they both tumbled down in a heap of bodies and limbs.
He felt his back hit the hard floor and he arched it to dampen the fall, but when she fell on top of him he groaned and all the air left his lungs. Her hair fell into his face, before she scrambled to put her hands on either side of his head and pushed herself up, looking down at him with her eyes wide and her lips parted. He watched her, his heart racing inside his chest. She could have clambered off of him many times now, but she remained lying on him, her hips pressing against his with her legs tugged between his angled knees, her arms shaking slightly as she held up her torso.
Without thinking as his mind felt fuzzy and full of static, he reached up a hand and pushed her hair behind her ear, a gentle, careful gesture with his thumb grazing over her cheek softly. He noticed the slight tremble of her lips, how her eyes wandered over his face and the warmth settling right beneath where his thumb was drawing lazy circles on her skin. Seconds ticked past, maybe even minutes, with their eyes locked onto the other's in a silent assessment of the situation.
And to his utter surprise it was her who moved first as she lowered her face closer to him, her breath ghosting his lips as she stared into his eyes. And when she mindlessly licked her lips, it was his turn. The hand holding her face pulled her down towards him with a firm tug before their mouths collided with a smack. She gasped against him, yet quickly fell into the rhythm he directed as he closed his lips hungrily around hers. Kissing him back with the same amount of fervour, she leaned down on her elbows, pressing her chest into his as her fingers started digging into his hair.
He heard himself moaning against her mouth, the sound echoing eerily through the dark, empty hall, yet he was too involved to register that they were lying in the middle of the Bell tower entrance, right beneath the wide eyes of Ignatia Wildsmith. His hand gripped the back of her neck as he pushed his face upwards into hers, breathing loudly through his nose as he deepened the kiss by pressing the tip of his tongue against her bottom lip.
She watched him out of half-lidded eyes and didn't hesitate at all when she parted her lips more and pushed her own tongue against his. He inhaled sharply, another groan leaving his throat as the kiss got even messier and more passionate. He pushed her hair out of her face with his free hand and held her head tightly between his fingers, guiding her as their tongues continued their wild wrestle.
Her noises were something between loud breaths and quiet whimpers as she pressed her jaw firmly against his, tilting her head to get even closer to him as she pushed her tongue into his mouth. Her movements seemed just as desperate as his and he felt his heart pounding inside his chest as he still couldn't wrap his head around what was happening. Breathing loudly against each other, he was tempted to roll her around and press his body firmly against hers. Instead he just jerked his hips upwards and to his continued surprise, she replied the motion with a grinding of her own hips.
Another moan escaped him and it was in that exact moment that another sound came to his ears. A cough. A clearing of a throat. The sound that made his blood freeze inside his veins. Their movements halted immediately as they remained glued together by their mouths, lips pressed together, tongues paused in the middle of tasting the other, with their eyes wide as they stared at each other.
Another cough came to his ears and he slowly, reluctantly let go of her head and she leaned back up instantly, her hands firmly planted on either side of his head as she scrambled back to her feet, her face flushed and her lips swollen and trembling. She grabbed his hand and helped him stand up as well and he felt about the same as her, cheeks blushed and lips tingling. Both of them were completely out of breath. His hand remained clutching hers and when he looked around at who had caught them, he felt a laugh vibrating in the back of his throat.
The ghost of the Fat Friar floated above them, watching them with a curious tilt to his neckless head. Nebbia stared up at the ghost in terror, be it because it was her first time seeing one of Hogwarts house ghosts or because they were caught in such a compromising position. Sebastian cleared his throat, wiping over his mouth with the back of his free hand and bowed his head slightly.
“Excuse us, sir,” he told the ghost and with another nod of his head, pulled the girl along who stumbled after him, her eyes still fixed on the translucent form of the monk, who watched them with an amused grin on his happy face.
Once the initial shock died down, he could hear her giggle softly, her free hand pressed to her lips as she quickly walked behind him. He smirked to himself and once they reached a dimly lit corner of the adjacent hallway, he pulled her close to him, before he pushed her right against the wall. She gasped and looked up at him, her hand finding his chest as she tried to catch her breath.
No words were necessary as they looked at each other, the hunger still throbbing through both of their bodies. They threw themselves at each other at the same time, arms wrapping around necks and waists as their mouths collided once more, their heavy breathing filling the empty corridor. His hands moved all around her body, from her back upwards to grip her hair gently, then back down to rest against her lower back, softly teasing the curve of her backside, while her hands grabbed the front of his shirt tightly as she leaned up against him on her toes, lodged between the wall and his body.
He had no idea for how long they were kissing each other like this, with their lips brushing together and their tongues circling around the other and their breaths heavy between them. His head was spinning from exertion and lack of air, yet he didn't want to stop. He had wanted to taste her and feel her ever since he had seen the sliver of skin beneath her skirt this morning. He had felt almost ashamed for having these thoughts about a girl he had barely even known, yet he had never expected that said girl seemed to feel the exact same about him – with the way she was pushing herself against him now.
It was when his hands moved lower, sliding over the curve of her butt to the back of her thighs, slowly pulling her skirt up with nimble fingers that she froze in his embrace, her hands pushing against his chest as she leaned away, breathless and dishevelled as she looked, her eyes wide and her lips trembling. He inhaled sharply and moved his hands back up to her waist, a soft smile on his swollen lips.
She slipped back down to her feet and normal height, tilting her chin up and leaning her head against the wall behind her as she looked at him, curiously, her forehead creased in slight lines as she seemed to digest what had happened. His blood was rushing in his ears loudly and he really couldn't care less about any consequences. Though the longer she just watched him, her chest rising and falling fast as she breathed heavily past shivering lips, the more sense kicked back into his head.
“Well,” he said, his voice hoarse. “That was...”
“Confusing?” she replied, frowning slightly more.
“Overwhelming,” he finished with a smirk. “Overwhelmingly amazing...”
She let out a stifled laugh and looked away, her cheeks as red as her lips. Her hands dropped to her sides and she inhaled deeply. “Sebastian, I...”
Something about her voice made his heart stop. He gently grabbed her chin and made her look up at him. “Was it too much?” he asked quietly, alarmed.
She licked her lips. “No, well, a little, certainly unexpected, in a way, but not –”
“Stop analysing it, please,” he said with a light chuckle. “No need to find the right words.” His thumb slowly caressed her hipbone as he kept holding onto her waist firmly with his other hand, pushing her backside against the wall. “Unless you want me to stop?”
She looked at him, biting her raw lips and wincing slightly as she did so. “Perhaps we... should take a break...”
His hand cupped her face gently, his thumb softly prodding at the corner of her mouth. “Perhaps we should,” he whispered. “I'm sorry...”
“No need to apologize,” she whispered back. “I... wanted this too...” she admitted with her cheeks warming up beneath his touch. He smiled wider at that.
Reluctantly, he took a step back, releasing her body from caging her in with his, even dropping his hands back to his sides. She remained leaning against the wall, watching him curiously.
“So do you welcome all the new girls like this?” she teased with a coy smirk.
He laughed out loud, the sound echoing through the hallway. “Only the pretty ones,” he teased right back, smiling down at her as his hand moved back up to tug a strand of hair behind her ear. She gently grabbed his wrist and leaned against his touch, her eyes boring into his. “And you're the prettiest for sure.”
Her smile was shy, but she didn't look away. They stood like that for another silent moment, the kiss(es) still fresh on his mind as he felt his lips pulsating. In the end it was her again who moved first, taking a step closer to him as she grabbed his free hand. “Can you take me to my common room? I'm afraid I don't know where to go, I've only been there once...”
His heart fluttered and he smirked wider, nodding as he squeezed her hand gently. “Of course,” he said quietly and led her down the hallway. She shot him the occasional side-glance and shy smile, as they walked through the dark, empty castle. He didn't take the shortest route to the Ravenclaw tower, but the safest one, past the prefects and ghosts patrolling the halls until they reached the long spiral staircase leading up.
Nebbia wasn't as breathless as he had expected once they arrived in front of the large doorknocker. As he let go of her hand, she stepped closer and solved the riddle the large golden eagle gave her with ease while his mind was still way too foggy from all the things he had experienced today. The door swung open and she turned back to him, smiling softly.
“Thank you for today, Sebastian,” she whispered and reached her hand out to him.
He quickly grabbed it and walked back to her, pulling her into a slightly too excited hug that caused her to gasp and giggle. “Thank you,” he insisted and kissed the top of her head.
“I'll see you tomorrow?” she asked quietly as she looked up at him.
He nodded eagerly. “I'm sure you will.”
She didn't move for another minute or so, just looking at him, seemingly also wondering if all of this had been real. He gave her waist a light squeeze.
“Good night, Nebbia,” he whispered.
“Good night,” she replied and leaned up to press her lips to his jaw. Then she let go and stepped away, past the threshold into her common room, waving at him as she did so.
Once the door closed behind her, he turned around and walked all the way down to the dungeons, his mind reeling as he kept remembering how soft her lips had felt and how eager she had been to kiss him back, how they had bantered as if they had known each other much, much longer. The more he thought about her, the warmer the feeling inside his stomach became, spreading through his entire body.
And for once, the nagging voices inside his head were silent.
So, I had this thought. A slight AU in which a muggleborn!MC can't see thestrals. Not at first, at least. Meanwhile, Sebastian can, of course, and he off-handedly mentions them pulling the carriages, causing MC to be very curious about it all. They've never heard of thestrals before, and the idea that they're there is both bizarre, and intriguing.
Maybe a few weeks later, Sebastian catches MC trying to pet the thestrals in the stables, but failing miserably, because they have no idea what they're doing, or where to place their hand, or anything. So, Sebastian takes their hand in his own so he can gently guide them to the right spot, helping the MC pet the thestral in front of them.
Now I'm wondering, though. In a quiet, private moment like that, do you think Sebastian would open up a bit about him being able to see them? Or would he stay quiet and just answer the general, impersonal questions the MC might have about those animals?
(And imagine the angst of Sebastian one day finding the MC petting a thestral without his help, and him immediately knowing what that means. Oh, the pain.)
that’s literally the cutest shit omg, thank you so much for sending it! i love that trope where it’s like “i have to hold your hands to guide you/teach you how to do this” and the thestrals just make it so much better.
i think at first, when they’re walking to hogsmeade, sebastian would just answer mc’s questions about the thestrals. he’d have to explain you can only see them if you witness death and then MC would know that about sebastian, but i don’t think he’d divulge much more. MC would say they’re sorry he can see them and he might say he lost his parents when he was young, but i doubt he’d give any details yet. sort of like how during the same quest he only tells MC that anne isn’t well, doesn’t mention the curse at all, and only says it after MC asks a question about her.
then as the year comes to an end, MC would start to see them after witnessing fig’s death (or after murdering a bunch of people lmao) and one day MC and sebastian would be out exploring the highlands and come across some thestrals. MC might make a comment about them or go up to them, leading to sebastian’s heart sinking and saying something like “…you can see them now?” if it was about fig, i think MC would open up about it, and especially since fig was such a fatherly figure to MC, i could really see it leading to sebastian talking about his own parents. and if MC was hesitant to talk about it, i could also see sebastian talking about his experience first, trying to ease them into opening up about their own, because no doubt would that boy be curious and want to know what happened to MC his crush.
some other scenarios i just thought of:
picture MC is showing sebastian her vivariums one day and he sees the thestrals in there and immediately knows MC can see them now because how else would they have caught them? and MC showing him the baby thestral and they’re petting it as they open up to each other.
or what if sebastian was there with MC the very first time they came across a thestral they could see and MC gasps in surprise because they’ve never seen this animal before. sebastian’s like “what is it?!” and gets his wand out, afraid they’ve seen something dangerous, still assuming MC can’t see the thestrals and must have seen something else. then MC would ask “what are those?” because this is their first time actually seeing them, they wouldn’t recognize them or realize what they are yet. once he explains, MC would get sad at the reminder of fig’s death (must still be relatively fresh too if this was their first time seeing a thestral), sebastian would comfort them (he’d know it was about fig without MC even needing to explain, and mentally chide himself for not realizing it was the thestrals sooner), and open up about losing his parents and share his first experience of seeing thestrals.
OH GOD i just had another thought… what if this happened after solomon’s murder but before fig’s death so sebastian would know MC can see thestrals because of him? i’m heartbroken now omg, he’d feel so horrible once he realizes it’s the thestrals MC is pointing out and he’d be panicking like oh god MC doesn’t realize they’re thestrals yet, they’re gonna figure it out any second, oh god. MC would be thinking and studying this new animal, trying to figure out what it is, when she realizes sebastian isn’t answering her, then she’d look over at him, see his facial expression, and be like “what’s wrong?” i think MC might realize before sebastian could find the words to explain, or she’d forget about the thestrals as soon as she notices how suddenly off sebastian is acting, and he’d have no choice but to explain. for sure this scenario would end with MC comforting sebastian.
Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy! I LOVE getting requests. They’re always welcome and I enjoy this challenge. This one was outside my comfort zone, an angsty fic featuring Sebastian! I think it turned out well.
I’ll Never Stop Fighting For You
She’d made a mistake. That was clear now. But it was too late.
“What do you intend to do with it?” She was back under the school, looking at professor fig. Sweet professor fig, the man who’d mentored her, taken her under his wing.
“No one needs this much power. If I leave it here, how long will it be before another genocidal maniac tries to take it?”
His face fell as he absorbed the meaning of her words. “You can’t.”
“I have to!” She screamed at him. “Never again! This ends now!” The memory became flooded with red. She saw Fig’s face twist up in horror.
“NO!” She bolted upright in the bed, her whole body shaking and sweating.
“CHRIS! What’s wrong?” Sebastian bolted up beside her. She’d given up sleeping in her dorm. They’d unofficially moved into the undercroft. Ominis understood that she couldn’t sleep alone and gave them their space.
“I’m fine.” She gasped, her breathing labored.
“Chris, it’s alright, I’m here with you.”
“I SAID I’M FINE!” Sebastian saw her eyes flash red for a moment. It was happening too often.
“Ok.” He said quietly.
“I need some air.”
“Chris, it’s two AM, I don’t think-“ he stopped when he saw her hazy red glare. “Be careful.”
Christina changed out of her pajamas and grabbed her cloak and her wand. She stomped out of the undercroft and began heading for the nearest exit.
“Chris, you’ve gotta stop doing this. I can’t overlook it anymore.” She heard Leander’s voice behind her.
“Just let me go, Prewett.”
“Chris, they know I’m letting you get away with things and they’re going to take my prefects badge.”
“Really, Prewett? Really? I’m SO SORRY you’ll lose your stupid nark badge! It really is the most important thing isn’t it? Nothing else matters but your fucking badge!” She didn’t care that it was 2 AM as she shouted at him in the hallway.
“I’m worried about you, Chris! You leave at all hours of the night and come back bloody and bruised! Yes, I’m a prefect, but I’m also your friend and I won’t let you go!” His heart ached seeing his friend suffer like this. Her eyes began glowing red.
She didn’t even mean to do it. She barely twitched her finger. It didn’t matter. Leander was knocked off his feet and slammed into the wall.
“PREWETT!” She rushed towards him. “Oh my god! What did I do? I’m so sorry! I’m so fucking sorry!”
His head was bleeding, but he was conscious. And the terror in his eyes broke her heart.
“I’m so sorry. I can’t do this anymore. I won’t.” She reached into her pocket and pulled out a vial of wiggenweld she always carried. She extended it to him gently. “Please forgive me.” She sobbed and then took off at a run.
She didn’t know where she was going to go, but she had to get away from here. She couldn’t hurt anyone else. The fear in Leander’s eyes would haunt her. He’d tried to help her and she could have killed him. She ran until her lungs burned and then she ran some more.
She ended up in the middle of the forbidden forest. She thought about everything leading up to this point. Ranrok, the keepers, the trials, the death, the pain…it flashed like a slideshow in her brain until everything was tinged with red.
And then she exploded.
She let out a primal scream as waves of ancient magic pulsed through her entire body. Trees were cracking, the ground shook, lightning struck. She blacked out and woke up in a pile of destruction. And then she burst into tears.
Christina hadn’t come back last night. That wasn’t unusual lately, but it didn’t mean Sebastian liked it. He decided to go to gryffindor and see if anyone had seen her.
“Sebastian!” He heard Prewett call out to him.
“Not now, Prewett!” He turned and his jaw dropped. “Merlin’s beard! What happened to you?!” Leander’s head was bandaged and he still had dried blood caked on him.
“Last night…Chris was leaving. I tried to stop her and she got really angry with me. Her eyes turned red like they do sometimes and then she…well, she threw me into a wall.”
“Holy shit.” Christina loved Prewett (for reasons that were unclear to him) and would never hurt him.
“Then they looked normal again and she looked horrified. She gave me wiggenweld and ran off. I shouldn’t have let her, I should have tried to stop her.”
“And get yourself killed? No.” He took a deep breath. “Has anyone seen her?”
“No. And I didn’t tell anyone what happened. I was going to get Garreth, Ominis, and you to help me look.”
“Thank you. I’m going to look outside the school, you guys look here. You know her spots.”
“We’ll find her, Sebastian.” Prewett said seriously, looking him in the eyes. Sebastian nodded in response and took off.
Once he got outside the school, there was a clear trail of destruction. Broken trees, cracked pavement, burn marks on the ground…the damage grew as he entered the forest.
He followed the trail deeper into the forest until he saw her. She was on her hands and knees, sobbing.
“Chris!” He shouted and ran towards her. She looked up in shock.
“What are you doing?! You can’t be here!”
“I came to get you, it’s alright.” He reached for her and she shoved him back.
“No, it’s not alright! Look at this! Look at what I did!” She screamed. “I nearly killed one of my best friends last night! I can’t control this anymore, Sebastian! It’s too dangerous! Go away before I hurt you too!”
“We can get through this together, Chrissy. You didn’t give up on me. I’m not going to give up on you.”
“Why won’t you just listen to me?! Go!” Her eyes were starting to glow.
“I’m not leaving without you.” He said firmly.
“Yes. You. ARE!” Her eyes were glowing more intensely than he’d ever seen them. He rolled out of the way as a red blast burned past him.
“I don’t want to fight you, Christina!” He rolled out of the way of another blast. “Depulso!”
The only thing it seemed to do was piss her off more. She screamed and he saw the clouds beginning to form. He cast protego just in time as lightning bolts struck the shield, which wavered from the attack. “DEPULSO!” If he could just hit her hard enough to knock sense into her without hurting her, they’d be alright.
She screamed again and the ground beneath his feet began cracking. He sprinted out of the path as waves of red magic shined through the cracks. He watched in horror (and amazement) as Chris picked up a fallen tree with her magic and launched it at him. It was too big to dodge entirely and the branches tore through his skin. He hissed in pain but knew it was just a surface wound.
“Christina, please! I love you and I know you don’t want to do this!” He depulso’d a rock she’d flung at him. “Remember the good things, Chris! Snuggling in the undercroft, drinking butterbeers with Ominis, doing whatever the hell you do with Prewett!”
She didn’t seem to even be breaking a sweat as she summoned a barrage of lightning bolts to strike him. His protego was barely strong enough to deflect the lighting.
He had no choice. He had to stop her. “BOMBARDA MAXIMA!” The powerful explosion shot out of his wand. She’d been about to launch another boulder at him and didn’t have time to deflect it.
It struck her square in the chest.
“CHRISTINA!” He screamed and ran towards her. He saw her crumpled form on the forest floor, surrounded by smoking embers. She wasn’t moving.
“Oh god, Chris, I’m so sorry, I’m so fucking sorry, please don’t leave me like this!” He was sobbing as he cradled her in his arms. “I can’t live without you!”
Her eyes fluttered open, a light blue with no trace of red magic whatsoever. She let out a soft cry of pain and he helped her sit up. Things were still coming into focus and she could see a blurry figure with her.
“Chrissy? Chrissy, can you hear me?” It sounded like Sebastian. She closed her eyes, feeling nauseated from the double vision. When she opened them again, Sebastian was sitting in front of her.
“SEBASTIAN!” She launched herself at him and wrapped her arms around him. “Oh my god, please tell me you aren’t hurt, your arms are bloody! Oh god I’m so sorry!” Tears were falling down her cheeks as she realized what she’d done. “Are you ok? Please tell me you’re ok!”
“I should be the one asking you that!” He brushed a spot of dirt off her cheek with his thumb.
“Why didn’t you go?! I could’ve killed you!”
“Because I needed to fight for you, Chris. I’ll never stop fighting for you. You needed me. And I need you.”
“No, if you stay you’ll only get hurt! I’d die if I hurt you, Sebastian. Please, please, just-“ her words were silenced as Sebastian’s lips crashed into hers. She collapsed into sobs and he held her against him, stroking her hair.
“You’re worth fighting for. You didn’t give up on me when I was going down the wrong path. And I won’t give up on you. We’ll fix this. I promise. I love you too much to leave you.” They stayed there for a while, wrapped in each other’s arms surrounded by the destruction she’d caused. Eventually they went back to the castle and Christina fell asleep in his arms.
-some time later-
They stood in an open field in the highlands, the wind whipping through their hair.
“Are you ready?” Sebastian asked her, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“As much as I ever will be.”
“I’ll be here if you need me.” He kissed her tenderly and stepped back.
Christina closed her eyes and breathed deeply. She could do this. She knew how. She put her wand by her face and focused.
She’d caused so much pain. Taken so many lives. She thought of everyone that had been lost because of Ranrok’s reign and the ancient magic. Her mind was filled with a montage of memories of the ancient magic, none of them good. It had done nothing but cause pain. That ended now.
Sebastian watched the swirling ball of ancient magic growing larger. He could tell it was causing her pain, but she’d given him strict instructions to stay back.
With a primal scream, she pointed her wand straight in the air. The magic swirled in a tornado as she forced it up and away. With one last thrust of her wand, there was an explosion of red, and Sebastian shielded himself. Then there was silence.
“Chrissy?” She was on her hands and knees on the ground. “Chrissy!” He ran to her, cradling her in his arms.
“It’s gone.” She was shaking and in pain. “All of it. Even my own. Good riddance.”
“Here, love, drink this.” He gave her a vial of wiggenweld and she downed it. Some of the color returned to her face. “I’ve got you.” He held her tightly, feeling a tear run down his cheek. “It was a burden you never should have had to bear.”
She finally let herself grieve. She knew professor fig would be proud of her. She missed him so damn much. But sitting in the field with the boy she loved, she felt for the first time like things would be ok.
