Tankman x reader x Steve
__________________________________
Steve's POV
__________________________________
I'm kind of upset about what happened, I know it's only been a few hours but she just hits different..? If in the end she falls in love with captain I'll just die! I love Y/N and I can't just let her go... I set up my bed and plop on it, mad and exhausted. In a minute I fell asleep and In seconds it's was day. I went to go check on Y/N before captain can and she was asleep. I wanted to go outside and get her something to eat.. or just cook her something! Captain always says that my food is delicious, so maybe Y/N might like my food to! I put on my googles and get out of the tank.
__________________________________
Captains POV
__________________________________
I wake up and see Steve outside making food, I have a good feeling about it but he's never cooked until Y/N got here... I think he saw what happened yesterday but I that wasn't me! I never had felt like that for someone, I don't know if I like her or it's just something stupid... but anyways I'm going to check on Y/N and make sure she's OKAY and wake her up...

No ones POV
__________________________________
You get shaken awake by captain, groining you say:
Calm down Jamal don't pull out the 9...
Captain: I'm sorry but who the hell is Jamal?
You: huh... oh it's a.. thing
Captain: oh, well then... get ready sunshine it's time to go..
You: yeah.. alright..
Captain: I'll be outside, by the way Steve is cooking for you because he thinks your cute...
You: what..?
Captain: now you can hear me, okay for real Steve is cooking for you but I don't know about him thinking your cute, go find out for yourself..
You: *~sigh~*yeah right.. get out..
Captain: I can't believe you still care about me seeing you naked.. hurry up..
Captain gets out the tank for you to change. later you didn't care that much and peeked outside the tank and saw Steve making a morning meal for you and captain. It smelt so good so you got up from the tank.
You: it smells good! Hey Steve!
Steve: o-oh! Hey Y/N I'm almost done with everything so just sit down with captain!
you did what he asked you and sat down with Captain.
Steve: So how did you sleep Y/N? I hope you liked the tank!
You: I guess I slept okay, but I still liked it!
Steve: oh that's nice, here you go! I hope you like them!
Steve hands you some pancakes that made your mouth water. You look up at Steve and he blushed and gave you a thumbs up. You almost devoured the pancake in one whole because it tasted so good! You turn to look at captain as he was watching you eat the whole time, he turned around quickly in embarrassment knowing that you noticed he was looking at you.
Steve: Do you like them Y/N? I haven't cooked in a while if they taste bad
You: They taste great Steve! Can you make more tomorrow?
Steve: S-Sure!..
Captain: hey Steve, you do know where the Base is right? We have to bring Y/N there
Steve: Haha! Why would I forget! Y/N when your done get inside the tank please?
You: Okay!
Since you were already done, you walked up to the tank and hopped in like if you knew that routine for 1 year.
Captain: Steve?
Steve: Yeah John?
Captain: Do you adore Y/N?
Steve: WHA-? I-I-I MEAN-
Steve turns into a blushing mess and Captain just stared laughing his ass off.
Captain: Come on Steve lets go
Steve: A-Alright...
Steve gets in the front of the tank and waits for Captains signal to start driving. Once he gave he signal, he started to drive to the base which took HOURS so I'm skipping
Steve: We made it, lets go!
You: this place is giving me a heart attack, I'm nervous...
Steve: Do-
Captain: Don't be, everyone is nice here.
RANDOM TANKMAN 1: FUCK YOU ASSHOLE
RANDOM TANKMAN 2: SHUT UP DIPSHIT *~Gunshot noise~*
You: that doesn't sound pleasant...
Steve: Ahaha... Lets go..
You, Steve, and Captain jump out of the tank and You look around the base. it gave off a weird vibe knowing people have died here, you tried to leave it alone but the thought just kept coming back.
Steve: you sure you want to get in?
You: Y-yeahh... and please don't let anything bad happen...
UNKNOWN: HEY FUCKS WHOS THIS MOTHER FUCKER YOUR WITH?
Steve: that's-
Captain: that's Y/N. She will be joining the squad.
Sniper: HEY FUCKER! my name is Ted but just call me sniper.
Steve: that was a attitude change...
You: I'm Y/N! Nice to meet you!
Captain: we have a room for you but your roommate is Barbra! Or just tankgirl or... whatever you wanna call her..
You: Where is she?
Captain: she's in the training area currently.
You: oh okay! Where's the dorm?
Steve: come come!
You follow Steve into a small area with small buildings and you looked around to see a sniper checking you out, not Ted! A different sniper..
But you ignored it and kept moving, besides you thought that all snipers had different uniforms to make them look unique! Take Steve and Captain for example, they have different glasses and Steve doesn't have a
Logo on his shoulder!
Steve: we're here!
You: thanks Steve! I owe you one!
As steve walks away you get inside of the building he led you to and opened one of the doors to see tankgirl changing-
Barbra: eh.. you can come in i don't care if you see me changing I'm used to it..
You: O-Oh, how are you used to it?
Barbra: Do you know the guy sniper?
You: yeah?
Barbra: he always walks into me changing on "accident". I know he's just trying to see my boobs...
You: *~giggle~* did they ever tell you to just kick him in the nuts!
Barbra: *~giggle~* yeah! I might as well cut them off!
You are Barbra burst out laughing then start a conversation that lasted hours, I'm to lazy to do so >:( but she did end up knowing your name.
Barbra: so, is anyone simping for you?
You: eh.,, I wouldn't call it simping but Captain gave me a kiss on the cheek.. it's no biggie though right?
Barbra: he's simping for you honey, he's never acted like this is a while! What about Steve?
You: he cooked for me?
Barbra: two simps ya got there Y/NNNN! If your going to date Steve he will always cook for you! I Bet 10 dollars
You: hahaha! I don't think he wants to be a thing though!
Barbra: he totally does! Plus I saw one of the enemy's eyeing you, that never happens!
You: what-?
Barbra: yeah! That's crazy right?! He was supposed to shoot you!
You: does that mean I hav-e... 3 SIMPS?!
Barbra: TAKE CARE OF THEM BABY GIRL-
You: *~laughing~* I'm kinda tired...
Barbra: just take off your armor and go to sleep! I won't mind!
You: alright! Goodnight Barbra..!
Barbra: goodnight!
I DONT KNOW HOW MUCH WORDS THIS IS BUT I WROTE NONSTOP- ENJOY I MIGHT EDIT IT-

Oye. How many more days left with these vampires? 4 it seems. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Well, let’s look at Roxana’s whims. Prank and be mean to someone. As usual. Welp, pranking is easily done. Hey, Omar! Here’s this hand buzzer trick! Next is Omar who wants to have child, or get disliked by someone. Mm. They already dislike each other though. I’m going to refresh those whims and then have him focus on Harrison. ...the whims were to leave a note on the family bulliten board and become enemies with the person he disliked. -shrug- Emilie is up and at em and needs food, and it’s an hour until work and school. Let’s just wait out the time until we head back into work with Omar.
And here we go! Perhaps today, we might get that final surgery requirement. ...if I was mean, I would perform surgery on a patient that might not need it...but eh, let’s try to be a good doctor. WOAH, there we go! We got a guy who collapsed right at the front door. And he needs emergency surgery! There we go! And hey, the patient we’ve been working on also needed surgery. Nice! Finally! He’s got that promotion! And is now a specialist! Good for Omar.
Oooh, Roxana, while I did manage to queue and get her the plasma fruit salad she needed, she also just ran out and drank from a passing sim. Hee. Now she’s super-tense about drinking from others.  MAN. I keep forgetting about Emilie and the making-friends-at-school thing! Now it’s 8PM and I bet there would only be teens at the park at this time. Doing their teen hangout thing. Ah well, both parents have whims regarding kids so, I decided to have both of them lecture their kids about manners. They’re neat sims, they’d care about this sort of thing. And now the kids are asleep. I decide to have the parents chat about the struggles of parenting...and the struggles of being a vampire. But thankfully Omar has a very high logic and can logic away the stress of drinking from a random sim. And she has low fun so uh, let’s have a woohoo in the shower.
Harrison wants to meet someone new so lets see if any teens are hanging around the park at the moment. But if not, we’ll bring someone along because he needs to drink! Hmm. The Alluring Visage means he’s low on vampire energy now. Meaning he needs to sleep. But we just got here! But I guess we can go right back home.. because it’s pretty much time for-
Neighborhood Watch!
Devan Geiger in the Geiger household has died. No cliffhanger here; Devan slipped when rock climbing.
Hold on, let me check something…yep. This was the guy who just moved into a home. RIP!
Mack Newman in the Newman hosuehold has died. Mack tried to make cereal but it burst into flames.
Let’s see, it’s early in the morning, nothing much to do. The kids sleep schedule is all kinds of messed up but alas. Let’s make sure I actually remember to set Emile to make friends at school. Omar’s got work at 9 until 7pm. So that leaves Roxana alone to do her work. And we got a biography about a dude who very much wants someone to write about him. That’ll do. Huh, and evidently she’s excited about the project at least. So a drink break and then we head back to work. Annnd she’s sick. Stuffed up nose, it seems. Well, what is the recommendations, internet? Taking a steamy shower! Annd hey, it worked! Back to writing she goes! Kids are back from school and boy, are they tired! But Roxana wants them to volunteer with her and so what she wants, she gets!
Let’s see. Omar does want a promotion, again. Could think about just having him visit a library for a late-night study instead. Since hey, that does also work, in theory, for a doctor. You gotta research your medical stuff! Oh hey, we actually met a scientist, since we’re at Strangerville. There would be a scientist/doctor solidarity, wouldn’t there? Let’s play a game of chess, get the know the guy a little and then head home.
Home again, and Omar wants to eat some popcorn. It’ll go poorly but we can attempt to have some. Meanwhile Harrison wants another promotion. Which, fine and all but I guess let’s work on your charisma skill. Selena’s hungry and Emile, oof! Bladder failure! ...and Roxana’s whim didn’t clear because we left in the middle of it. Fair enough, I suppose! Also I am trying to have Omar mend his relationship with Selena but alas! She just thinks he’s creepy with that weird hissing all the time! Ah well. Anyway it’s time for-
Neighborhood Watch! Mizuki Maeda in the Maeda household has died. Mizuki was victim to a vicious chicken attack.
Ah man. She was one of my longest lived townies. Riiiiiip!
Akira Kibo in the Kibo household has died. Akira fell for a cowplant’s cake bait. He could not have his cake and eat it too.
Ha. I had a feeling this was going to happen to him sooner or later. RIP!

To all my MCs that never really Enjoyed Celebrating their Birthday
Mammon: Alright! What does everyone have planned?
Asmo: I bought them multiple massagers so they can have a relaxing, stress-free day!
Satan: I bought them the new book series for them from their favorite author. I figured we could discuss the meaning throughout the story together.
Lucifer: I convinced Diavolo to give them the day off from any school activities so that they may rest, since they have worked hard it was an easy request. I also made a reservation at Ristorante Six.
Beel: I practiced how to make their favorite dish perfectly so they can have a delicious lunch!
Levi: I bought them the new most popular game they really wanted to try!!
Belphie: Uuhhhh guys? I don't know about this. I mean don't you remember what happened when we asked what they wanted?
Mammon: When they said they didn't want to celebrate? I've thought of that, and I have a plan!
Satan: This ought to be good.
Levi: Why exactly are we letting him run things anyway?
Mammon: Shut up and listen up! We don't have to celebrate anything! We can just try to help them unwind a little. Just friends trying to help their other friend, for no reason at all!
Satan: That sounds so suspicious, they would realize what we were up immediately!
Mammon: Do you have a better plan!?
Satan: ....... *Sighs* No....
Lucifer: Then I guess that's our best shot at doing this for them.
Belphie: I'm not entirely thrilled about following a plan made by Mammon, but I agree that it's the only idea we have.
Asmo: That's pretty sad..
Mammon: Shut up! All of you!
Lucifer: Moving on, I have already told MC that we have no school tomorrow. Hopefully they will sleep in and buy us some time.
-next morning 9:00-
MC: Shit....slept in a bit late didn't I?
-there's a knock on the door-
MC: Come in.
Asmo: Oh good you're awake!
MC: Just woke up. What's up?
Asmo: Oh, just got you a little something~ *carries in a tray with a cover on it*
MC: ..... Asmo..... What is this?
Asmo: I just thought you deserved *takes the cover off* Breakfast in bed.
MC: ...... *Stares at Asmo* What's the occasion?
Asmo: Can't I just do something nice because I fell like it.
MC: You're a demon.
Asmo: But YOUR demon, right?
MC: *shakes head, smiling* Thank you for the food, it looks great.
Asmo: Oh, but that's not all. *Retrieves a bag set by the door* Now, this mask will massage your eyes and play relaxing music.
MC: Asmo-
Asmo: This here will massage your neck and shoulders- which you could really use being hunched over a desk constantly.
MC: ASMO-
Asmo: And these are supposed to wrap around your legs and feet. They are massaged through air waves.
MC: ASMO!!
Asmo: What? I'm on the last one.
MC: Asmo, what IS all of this?? I don't need all of this, if anything you should use it.
Asmo: Now isn't that silly, of course you need it!
MC: As-
Asmo: Now, enjoy your food and relax as long as you wish! *Leaves*
MC: .....*sighs* .. So it's gonna be like that huh?
-few hours later-
Mammon: Yo MC! How about a game of Poker? I know you can't resist the game and the bets!
MC: It's more of the people and the conversations that I enjoy then the game itself. If we get more people on board sure.
Mammon: Uuummm, then how about some blackjack?
MC: Mammon, you know I'm not a gambler.
Mammon: Then how about....... Rummy?
MC: How about Speed?
Mammon: What?
MC: If you want to play a two person card game that bad, let's play speed.
Mammon: ...... What are the rules?
MC: Come here, I'll show ya.
-half an hour later-
Mammon: Wha-!? What the hell!? How are you so fast!?
MC: It's called 'been playing it for years'.
-lunch time-
Beel: Here you go MC. I made your favorite.
MC: Beel, this is much appreciated but why aren't you getting your food first? You must be hungry.
Beel: Nah, I'm ok. Besides, you deserve it.
MC: How so?
Beel: For being a good friend. 😊
MC: ...... *Sighs* ... I can't refuse you when you look at me like that and you know it. That's why you abuse it....
-afternoon-
Belphie: MC, it's time for our afternoon nap. Are you coming?
MC: I'm coming, I'm coming. *Goes to lay down beside him*
Belphie: Oh hold on! *Grabs a different pillow* Use this one instead.
MC: .... Isn't this one of those pillows that are supposed to keep you cool all through the night?
Belphie: Yep! You kept mentioning how hot you'd get while you're sleeping and how uncomfortable you'd be. I'd like my cuddle buddy to be comfortable while sleeping together.
MC: ....... There's NO other reason behind it?
Belphie: What other reason would there be?
MC: .... Fine. *Lays down with the pillow* Thanks.
Belphie: No problem.
-Evening-
Satan: MC, I'd like to talk about the theme in this book I've been reading. It's really confusing to me, I was hoping for different mindset to even it out?
MC: Sure, what book is it?
Satan: Come to my room, I'll show ya.
MC: Ok, *follows*
Satan: *lifts a book off his desk* This is it, apparently this story is holding the idea that committing crimes is alright depending on the situation.
MC: For example?
Satan: Committing murder is alright say, if someone kidnapped your kid.
MC: You think that's not alright?
Satan: I'm a demon, watching humans kill each other is pretty much sport to me. I just see it very unrealistic.
MC: .... Depends on the situation. Say your child was abducted and about to be sold off and become a victim of human trafficking. If this is proven then you should be pardoned for the most part, you will just have to live under new names and protection.
Satan: Wow, I didn't realize how complicated it all was.
MC: Yep, that's life. *Goes to leave*
Satan: Oh, before you go. *Grabs the series of books* Here, read these. I already have and I believe they're right up your alley.
MC: ...... Aren't these the new series of books, that just came out the day before? And you already read them?
Satan: *smirks* If you don't believe me, quiz me.
MC: ...... *Takes the books* .... Why do I not believe this is all coincidence?
Satan: *shrugs* Who knows?
MC: ..... *Leaves*
-Dinner-
Lucifer: MC, you're cooking?
MC: Yep. Everyone else cooks for dinner, I figured I could pick up the slack a little.
Lucifer: How much longer will the food take? We have a reservation in an hour.
MC: It shouldn't take too mu- wait, back up. What the fuck are you talking about!?
Lucifer: Is there something wrong?
MC: A few things yeah! One, I'd like more of a heads up! Two, why now!? What is this for!?
Lucifer: Consider this a reward for all your hard work.
MC: ...... Ok yeah no, this calls for a meeting.
-Everyone is gathered in the common room-
Asmo: What's wrong sweetie? You looked stressed
MC: I am stressed, all of you are stressing me out.
Mammon: Oi!! What did we do!
MC: Everything that has happened today was because my fucking birthday! Wasn't it!?
Satan: So what if it was? Why can't we celebrate it?
MC: I asked you not to.
Beel: MC, why do you hate your birthday so much? We only want to make you feel appreciated... 🥺
MC: Don't give me that damn look. I told you that it was a little too personal, and I rather not talk about it.
Belphie: Do you not trust us?
MC: I didn't say that, it's just...hard to talk about...
Mammon: Have you even tried?
MC: Have you tried not stealing shit? Difficult isn't it?
Levi: Woah! Burn!
Mammon: Shut up!
Lucifer: MC, we would probably understand your request better if you were to explain.
MC: ....... Let's just say... Something REALLY BAD happened on this day.... And everytime someone tried to celebrate with me....I remember it..... When I don't want to....
Levi: .... Woah.... Tragic backstory confirmed!
Asmo: Oh sweetheart, I'm so sorry.
Satan: I'm not.
Mammon: Wha-! Satan!
Satan: What!? Come on! When they first show up they state us down like we're frogs in the dessert, and they don't want to be reminded of some shitty memory!! You're better than this! Whether you like it or not I'm celebrating your birthday every year! Because you deserve it!
Lucifer: Agreed. You're stronger than you give yourself credit for. I believe with a little push you can love past that block on your mind.
Beel: I'll still make you delicious meals that we can enjoy together!
Belphie: You're keeping that pillow, whether you like it or not.
MC: ......... You all are assholes..... I hope you know that....
Mammon: Yeah well, you're a pain in the ass too. So we're even.
-later that night-
Levi: ....... I got that game you wanted....
MC: ....... You want to play together?
Levi: ...... Please?
MC: ...... I'll grab some snacks and drinks. You set up the game.
Levi: Yay!!
-----
That was much longer than I meant it to be, and alot more feelsy. Regardless, I hope you all enjoyed.
If you see anything that I could have done better, please don't hesitate to inform me. I accept all forms of constructive criticism.

Hiii I saw requests are open so can I request things you believe kenma would if you lived together ?
🥺 yes ok ok, i love kenma
Things I believe Kenma Kozume (timeskip: CEO and Pro Gamer) would say if you lived together (from the moment you wake up, to the moment you fall asleep).
reader will be his personal assistant just to make it a little easier for me
- “mmm no i don’t wanna wake up, y/n i don’t care if i have a meeting.” (6:30 am)
- “wait i have a meeting?”
- “with who?”
- “kuroo? ugh, tell him to wait.”
- “what do you mean he’s at the door.”
- “why’d you let him in?”
- “nope, you’re not forgiven.”
- “maybe if u kiss me but- okay yeah that kiss was good.”
- “Let kuroo know i’ll be out in 10 minutes, i’m gonna shower.”
- “why didn’t u remind me to shower yesterday?”
- “how long have you been awake for?”
- “You mean to tell me you willingly woke up at 5 in the morning to go jog?”
- “couldn’t be me.”
- “i did not fall asleep on my desk, i just closed my eyes.”
- “Wait, where is this meeting?!”
- “Over breakfast, kuroo doesn’t do breakfast.”
- “Oh you picked, okay, okay.... that’s fine.”
- “Wait so does this mean it’s your fault why i had to wake up early?”
- “You really don’t love me, huh...”
- “Nope, no i don’t want you’re kisses.”
- “Go wait with Kuroo, you’re presence is as bad as his.”
- “Don’t pinch my cheeks, i’m gonna bite you’re fingers off.”
- *proceeds to grab your hands and kiss your fingertips w/ a towel wrapped around his waist*
- “wait, come pick my outfit.”
- “no i don’t wanna wear that.”
- “what do you mean i can’t wear my sweats.”
- “mmm, no, i’m not wearing that.”
- “get off me! i’m not wearing it!”
- “i’m uncomfortable.”
- “why’d i have to wear this?”
- “okay fine, let’s go.” (7:00 am)
- “let’s get a private room.”
- “Kuroo move, i’m sitting with them.”
- “I will not hesitate to pull you off.”
- “Can i just get coffee and a creme cake.”
- “Don’t laugh at me y/n, it is a real breakfast.” (7:30 am)
- “What is this about again?”
- “*whispers* can we leave soon?”
- “I didn’t say anything, you can continue.”
- “*whispers* Is it me, or does Kuroo look old?”
- “Y/N! Cover me! Kuroos gonna kill me.”
- “What do you mean i have to be more responsible?”
- “That’s why I have you.”
- “Can we go now? I’d like to stream in piece now.” (8:30 am)
- “Oh wait can we go to that cat café i like?”
- “Ooooh, look! This cat looks like you.”
- *proceeds to lay with the cats*
- “I can die happy now”
- “Oh right, i came here for cake.”
- “Did kuroo just leave?”
- “You told him we’d walk?”
- “Fine.... i guess.”
- “Let me hold your hand.”
- “Now, *open and closes his hands one too many times* thank you.”
- “Do i have anything else scheduled for today other than the stream?”
- “Let’s go out to eat tonight, my treat.”
- “Thank god we’re home, it was starting to get hot.” (9:10 am)
- “I’m gonna set up stream now.”
- “You gonna join? or do you have paperwork?”
- “Just sit in here with me while i stream.”
- “It’s fine, it’s not a problem.”
- “i like your company.”
- “Can everyone hear me? Yeah, okay cool.” (9:20 am)
- “*reading a comment* Where is y/n, how are they?”
- “Hey kitten, they’re asking for you.”
- “Come here.”
- “My lap is your gaming chair.”
- “They’re right here, healthy as can be.” (11:00 am)
- *kisses your cheek and nuzzles his head into your chest*
- “How much more paperwork do you have?”
- “When you’re done can you get me lunch? I’m getting hungry.”
- “What do i want? *whispers in your ear* you....”
- “Actually i want katsudon from down the street. *bites your shoulder* ”
- *taps your butt when you get off of his lap, will also laugh at you for getting red*
- “You’re done now? Okay, buy me milk tea with boba as well, will you?”
- “Wait! Wait! *running out of his recording studio* Do you have my credit card? Okay good.”
- “Give me a kith before you go.”
- “You smell good, give me another one.”
- “One more and then i’ll let you got.”
- *opens the door for you to leave and will slap your butt lightly* (1:00 pm)
- “*to the stream* Okay hold on, I think y/n’s back with my food.”
- “Welcome back. Food please.” (1:30 pm)
- “Come eat w me, we’ll have a small mukbang”
- “*To stream* Food break... What’d i get? I got katsudon and milk tea.”
- *you cannot tell me Kenma doesn’t do that thing where he takes the first bite and walks his fans through eating, bc knowing kenma he’s had trouble himself*
- “God why can’t i have these everyday...”
- “I’ll get fat that’s why.”
- “Why did you get?”
- “Give me some.”

Jordan moved her arm, and the unfamiliar tug of the IV finished waking her from a deep sleep. Her eyes opened, focusing slowly on the figure of the man sleeping in the recliner beside her bed. Dean was sound asleep, arms flung wide, an occasional soft snore escaping his parted lips. She smiled, relieved to see him there, safe and apparently uninjured. His vest was draped over a nearby chair, his boots beside it, badge and gun still in place at his waist.
She watched him silently until the quiet whoosh of the opening door made her turn her head that way. A nurse came in, her eyes falling on the peacefully sleeping man, and she quietly made her way to Jordan’s side. “How are you doing?” she whispered, taking her wrist between her fingers to check her pulse.
“I’m good. The doctor said once this bag was gone, the IV could come out – can you do that?”
“Sure!” She worked on that, nodding her head towards Dean. “Looks like you have your own private security, huh?”
Jordan grinned. “I’m very lucky.”
The nurse nodded, her eyebrows raised in agreement. “Yeah, you are. Well, let me know if you need anything else. Doc should be here in a couple of hours, once he okays it, you’ll be able to go home.”
“Thank you,” Jordan whispered back, and the nurse walked back to the door, turning with an expression of appreciation as she glanced back at Dean, pretending to fan herself before grinning and pulling the door closed behind her. Jordan giggled softly, and Dean stirred a little, his eyes opening slowly, squinting as he tried to focus. “Hey, sleepyhead,” she teased, and a crooked smile quirked up one side of his lips.
“Hey, yourself. How are you doing?” His voice was raspy with sleep, eyes heavy-lidded, his hair mussed and adorable, and she smiled affectionately back at him.
“I’m good. Head still pounding a little, but not as bad.” She threw her covers back, swinging her legs around, and hopped off the bed, coming over to crawl into his lap.
“Are they sure, they checked you out?”
She looked into his eyes, nodding. “Cat scan, the whole works. I have a concussion, but everything else is okay. Nurse said I can go home as soon as the doc checks in.” She leaned in to kiss him, and he pulled her closer with a soft hum against her lips.
He slipped his hand just beneath the hem of her hospital gown, fingers trailing over her knee as he laid his head back and smiled at her. “Donna’s bringing some clothes for you, she’ll be here in about an hour. Then we can stop and see Sam, if you want.”
She nodded. “Yes, I definitely want.” She cuddled against him, kissing his neck before settling her head on his shoulder with a sigh. When Donna arrived, they were both asleep in the chair.
She knocked lightly on the inside of the door, and they both stirred, yawning. “Hey, Donna,” Jordan smiled sleepily, not moving from her perch.
“Hey, you two. I hated to wake you, but I think the doc’s on his way soon, anyway. How are you feelin’, hon?”
“A little headache and neck pain, but other than that, I’m ok. I was better when I woke up and saw Dean sitting here and I knew you guys were all right.”
“Oh, hell, yeah. Like they used to say on Dukes of Hazzard, we cuffed ‘em and stuffed ‘em,” Donna joked, and the girls laughed. “Of course, Dean wanted to kill the creep that had you, but…”
“Sometimes it sucks being one of the good guys,” he grumbled, and Jordan smiled down at him.
“Don’t feel bad, I kinda wanted to kill him myself,” she said, dropping a kiss on his nose before sliding off his lap. “You brought me clothes?” Donna held out a bag and Jordan took it with a grateful smile. “Thank you. I’ll get dressed, and then we can go see Sam?”
“That’s the plan, as soon as the doc lets you go,” Dean answered, and she stepped into the bathroom to change.
After an impatient wait, the doctor finally showed up to release Jordan, and they all headed to Sam’s room together. He was sitting up and talking quietly to Sarah when they walked in, and she jumped up to give Jordan a hug. “I’m so glad you’re okay! You must have been terrified,” she sympathized, and Jordan nodded.
“Not something I want to go through again,” she agreed, then moved over to the bed to take Sam’s hand. “I was so damn worried about you.”
Dean came around to the foot of the bed where he could see his brother. “Yeah, even on the ransom call when I demanded to talk to her, it was “I’m okay – how’s Sam?” he grinned. “And you guys have matching black eyes. Somebody needs to take a picture of this.”
“Gotcha covered,” Donna piped up, grabbing her phone. “Get down there next to him, girl, we have to capture this for posterity.”
“Just what a woman wants to do after getting shanghaied and spending the night in the hospital – get her picture taken,” Jordan sighed, rolling her eyes, but she bent down next to Sam so Donna could capture the moment, laughing as Sam whispered some funny comment in her ear. Donna held out her phone with a triumphant grin.
“It’s a keeper!”

Jordan sat next to Dean on the way home, drowsy and content with his arm around her. She looked up at him, confused, when they pulled up in front of her apartment building. “We’re not going to your place?”
Dean hesitated a moment, then turned to look at her. “Doc said nothing strenuous, lots of rest. I just thought it’d be better if you were in your own bed, and we wouldn’t be – you know – trying to do strenuous stuff.”
She giggled, shoving at his shoulder. “It’s okay, you need to get some sleep, too.”
“Yeah, and – Donna and I have a lot of statements to take the next couple of days, and paperwork to do. We’ll have to get your statement at some point, but not until you’re rested up.” He leaned in close and kissed her tenderly. “C’mon, I’ll walk you up.”
He hung around the apartment, chatting with Donna until Jordan had showered and got ready for bed, going in to kiss her goodnight before he left. It didn’t take her long to fall into a deep, dreamless sleep.
Tumblr media
It was late evening when Dean and Donna came home the next night, and Jordan sensed tension between them as soon as they walked through the door. It had been a long couple of days, and everyone was bound to be on edge, so she didn’t ask what was going on.
“Want a beer?” she asked, and Donna shot her a tired smile.
“Not me. I’m heading for the shower and my bed, it’s been a long day.”
Dean rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah, I should head out, too. Donna, we’ll talk about this later.”
She looked up at him, her voice sharp. “I’ll walk you out,” she said, and Jordan bit her lip nervously.
“Guess I’ll get ready for bed,” she said softly. “G’night, you two.” Dean was not acting normal at all, and Donna was pissed, and she suddenly wanted to crawl into bed and pull the covers over her head.
“We’ll talk tomorrow, okay?” Dean said softly, and Jordan nodded, noting the death glare Donna was aiming his way. The obviously feuding partners headed for the door, and Jordan walked towards her room, her stomach in knots.
She had barely walked into her bedroom when she remembered she had wanted to grab a bottle of water from the fridge, so she turned and headed back that way. She closed the fridge and heard Donna’s voice raise just enough that she could hear, wishing she had stayed in her room but unable to make her feet move.
“Dean, you know how I feel. I don’t like it at all, you blindsided me with this. You have to talk to Jordan.”
“I know! I will, I just – I have to… there’s just some shit I have to figure out, think about. I didn’t plan for this to happen, at least not this soon. Not right after… I mean, really, we haven’t been together that long, but…”
“Well, you’d better figure it out, and fast. I’m not good at hiding things. And I shouldn’t have to. I wish you hadn’t even told me.”
“I’m sorry! I had to fucking talk to somebody, and I thought maybe my partner wouldn’t be such a dick about it!”
Now Dean sounded pissed, and Jordan felt sick. She rushed back to her room, afraid Donna would come back into the apartment and see her standing there. Her hands were shaking, her head spinning, memories of Darrel’s demeaning and belittling comments echoing through her mind. She crawled into her bed, curled into a ball, trying to ignore them, but they wouldn’t leave her alone. All the old insecurity she had worked so hard to recover from came flooding back, overwhelming her. It hadn’t taken Dean long to get tired of her, apparently. And Donna was upset with him because he wasn’t talking to her about it. How could she think he actually wanted more with her than a casual fling?
She hadn’t felt this small since the end of her relationship with Darrel, and she finally fell asleep, exhausted, dark thoughts haunting her through the restless night.
Tumblr media
Jordan stayed in bed the next morning until Donna left, not wanting to see anyone. She moved through her day in a daze, unable to focus on anything but her misery. She was in love with Dean, but something had happened to change his feelings towards her. Maybe last night hadn’t been about the doctor’s orders at all. Maybe it was just the first step in distancing himself from her. And even worse, if they weren’t going to be together, how could they possibly get back to the warm, easy friendship they’d had before? Everything was such a mess, she was a mess, and there was nothing she could do to fix it.
Late that afternoon, there was a soft knock at the door before she heard the key in the lock. Dean peeked his head in, seeing her sitting there, and came in, alone. He looked nervous, and she felt that sick, hollow feeling in her stomach again, dreading what was coming.
“Hey,” he said softly. “How are you feeling?”
“I’m okay. Where’s Donna?”
“She’s at Doug’s. Wanted to give us some time to talk.”
She nodded. “Okay.”
He came to the couch, sitting down and rubbing the back of his neck before turning his body towards her. He glanced at her before he started talking, then kept his eyes in his lap, his hands fidgeting and rubbing over his thigh occasionally as the words tumbled out. “So, I’ve been kinda messed up for the last few months – I mean, you know that. When I went to South Dakota, when I met you, I was… I didn’t know if I wanted to come back to work, back to Kansas City. Anyway, while I was there, working on my car, I needed a part, and I found this little repair and body shop there. The old guy that owns it was pretty cool, we got to talking, and I told him how I grew up in Kansas working at my uncle’s body shop. He got me a beer and we just sat there and shot the shit for a couple of hours, it was the most I’d talked to anybody for a long time. When I got ready to leave, he said, ‘Dean, I’m gonna give up and retire one of these days. I’d sure like it if somebody like you would buy this place and run it like it should be run.’ Well, I told him, sure, give me a call when you do that, and I’ll see where I’m at.”
He looked up at Jordan again, then back down before continuing. “Well, he called me yesterday. And if we hadn’t just wrapped up the whole mess behind that shooting, I don’t know if I would even think about it. But – I’m burned out. I don’t love my job anymore. I really think I want out. Donna’s pissed at me, feels like I’m abandoning her or something, but – I can’t do this job if my heart and my head aren’t in it. I can cash in my pension and buy that shop, do something I used to dream about when I was a kid working for my uncle. Live in a place where you can walk down the street without worrying about getting mugged. Watch some sunsets, see what real peace and quiet feels like.”
Jordan was struggling not to cry, but her tears were winning, rolling silently down her face, and as she sniffed softly, Dean raised his head to look at her. “So - you’re leaving.” He stared at her, a stricken expression on his face at her obvious distress, his mouth open to speak, but she went on. “I mean, I get it, you’re not happy, and you don’t feel about me the same way I feel about you. I mean, Darrel always said I wasn’t enough to keep a man for long, I should have seen it coming. I should have stayed away from you in the first place.” She started to rise from the couch, but Dean reached out and stopped her with a firm grip on her arm.
“Whoa! Hey, where is this coming from? No – just... Baby, no… God, I fucked this up.” He shook his head. “Damn it, Jordan, I don’t want to leave you. I’m not leaving you. I want you to come with me. But we haven’t been together for that long, and you just got to KC, and I didn’t want you to feel like I was pushing you too fast...” He moved closer, his hands cradling her face. “Baby, I’m so sorry, I had no idea you thought that’s what was happening.”
“I heard you and Donna last night, I thought you were sick of me, I thought you wanted to leave me, and I thought that’s why Donna was mad at you, and all I could think about was the shit that Darrel used to say to me...” Dean pulled her into his arms, holding her tight and soothing her until she quieted down. Then he took her by the shoulders and moved her back, taking her face in his hands and kissing her gently.
“If it’s the last thing I do, I’m gonna erase what that asshole did to you, I don’t care if it takes me the rest of my fucking life. None of it is true. You hear me? And I’m not leaving you. If you really want to stay here, I will work through my bullshit and stay. But if you want to come with me – I told Earl I’d call him back tomorrow, let him know. I know that’s not much time, but...”
After a moment of thoughtful silence, she responded, “So, maybe I could still work for Sam, from home?”
“I’m sure you could. We can talk to him, we can go to the hospital so you can discuss it with him, if you want.”
“And we could go to Molly’s for bacon cheeseburgers and pancakes...”
“And frosty mugs of beer. Yeah. And I thought we could maybe buy a little house, and you could come and have lunch with me at the shop sometimes.” He kissed her nose, then her lips, and a smirk slowly curved his lips. “And maybe I could come home for lunch sometimes, but not for lunch, ya know?”
Jordan blushed, looking up at him from under her damp lashes. “You could.” He kissed her again, lingering over her lips, and she let out a little sigh, melting against him. Her arms slipped around his waist, handfuls of his shirt in her fists as his tongue touched her lips, then slipped between them with a moan.
“Maybe I should stop,” he mumbled reluctantly, barely parting from her lips as he spoke, and she tightened her grip around him with a little whimper.
“Dean… it’s been two days, I’m fine, and I need you...”
He groaned, kissing her again, hard, before stopping to look into her eyes. “Are you sure? That you’re ready? Your head...”
“Please, Dean, I promise, I’m fine.” She slipped her hands underneath his shirt, moving them up his back and dragging her nails gently over his skin. “I need you to hold me, I need to feel you inside me...” She brushed her lips along his jaw line, then down to his pulse point, sucking gently at his skin, and he swore, letting her push him down. She stretched out, her body full length over his, grinding against his erection, her lips crashing down on his again. His hands gripped her ass, his hips rising up to meet her as she moaned into their kiss. She finally raised her head, panting for air, her eyes dark with want. “Maybe we should go to my room… in case Donna...”
Dean nodded, and she climbed off of him, heading to her room with him hot on her heels. He was halfway undressed by the time he reached the room, dropping his clothes in a pile before stretching out on the bed, lazily stroking his cock with one hand as he watched Jordan strip down. “C’mere, sweetheart...” he urged, and she climbed onto the bed, settling over top of him again and raising up to let him guide himself to her entrance. She wasted no time, impaling herself on him slowly, her eyes closing and head thrown back as she took him in fully, her thighs trembling beneath Dean’s hands.
“Feels so good, baby...”
She didn’t move, the sensation of him pressing into the deepest part of her making it hard to breathe, so delicious that she wanted it to last forever. Her hands fell on top of his, clutching, her eyes finally opening to meet his heated gaze. “Dean…” she whined softly, and he shuddered as she clenched around him.
“Whatever you need, sweetheart, just tell me,” he said softly, his hands gently kneading at her thighs.
“Hold me.” He raised up slowly, gathering her close against his chest, fingers trailing over her back as he dropped hungry little kisses on her lips. After a few moments, he laid back, pulling her with him, his lips ravenous on hers as she began to move her hips. She was completely lost in him, the wanton sounds muffled by their kisses making him crazy, and he clutched her tightly to his chest, wanting to feel every inch of her against him.
It was delicious torture, the slow grinding of their bodies together, and Jordan pushed herself up with a soft cry as she neared her orgasm, her nails digging into Dean’s shoulders. He slipped his hands beneath her, squeezing at her breasts before giving her nipples a gentle twist, clenching his teeth as she came, grinding down hard on top of him and quivering around his aching cock.
She dropped down, her heart pounding against his chest, and he stroked his hands over her back, soothing her with gentle whispers and kisses to her forehead. She finally tipped her head back to look into his face, an endorphin-drunk smile on her lips. “Are you good?”
“So good,” she answered with a sigh.
“No headache?”
“Dean, I’m okay. Stop worrying.”
He grinned. “Okay, but I’m taking over from here.” She raised her eyebrows at him, then let out a surprised little cry and pouted when he pulled her off of him, and he laughed as he flipped her to her back on the bed beside him. Before she could say anything, he was snugged up between her thighs and slipping back inside her, his lips silencing her pretended protests. “So, you got a problem with that?” he teased, his lips brushing over hers, and she smiled, arching up a little beneath him.
“No problems here. None.”
He tilted his hips a little, making Jordan’s eyes flutter closed for a moment, and bent to take a nipple into his mouth. She sighed, head thrown back, blissfully enjoying the waves of pleasure washing through her. Dean began to move, slowly at first, shifting his attention to her other breast with a moan as she shifted her hips to meet him. As he began to thrust faster and harder, he raised his head to look down at her, watching her expressions as he drove them higher. She opened her eyes, staring up at him with such heat in her gaze that he let out a growl, capturing her lips in a ravenous kiss, swallowing her cry as she began to come undone. “Let go, sweetheart, I’m right there with you,” he managed to say, burying his head in the slope of her shoulder as he came, everything inside him white hot and throbbing in time with his pounding heart. Jordan was still letting out soft little whimpers when he regained his senses, finally going quiet after a long shudder.
They laid quiet in each others’ arms for a time, neither of them wanting to move. Dean finally shifted himself over, laying on his side next to her, and she turned towards him, a contented little smile on her face, her eyes shining as she looked at him. He let his fingers trail over her cheek, ducking his head a little with a shy smile. “What?” she asked softly, taking hold of his hand. He shook his head with a small shrug of his shoulders, his eyes still averted.
“I don’t know. Just – the way you look at me. Makes me feel like I should, I don’t know, do something amazing for you.”
She laughed softly. “You mean like asking me to run away to South Dakota with you?”
His crooked smile grew, and he looked back into her eyes again. “No, I mean something really big. Rope the moon, slay a dragon, you know – big.”
“You wanna be my hero?”
He huffed out a laugh, blushing a bit. “Yeah. Maybe I do.”
She raised her hand to his face with a soft smile. “Well, you already are.”
“C’mere, you,” he whispered, pulling her close, kissing her with all the emotion he couldn’t express in words. After several minutes, he moved away slightly, a finger beneath Jordan’s chin to tip her head back so he could look into her eyes. “So – what do you say, should we call Earl?”
She grinned, nodding. “Yeah. Let’s call Earl.”
Tumblr media
Jordan parked in front of the shop and smiled up at the newly edited sign. Where it used to say Earl’s, now it read ‘Dean’s Body and Repair.” It had been three months since they had moved to South Dakota, bought a nice little three-bedroom ranch with a fenced-in yard and settled in. Dean’s business had taken right off, Earl’s loyal customers staying with him thanks to Earl’s glowing endorsement, and seeing him relaxed, happy and enjoying his work made her heart smile.
It was Friday night, closing time, and Jordan glanced around, making sure no one was around to stop her for a chat when she got out of the car. The coast was clear, so she headed into the shop, turning to lock the door behind her with a smile.
Her heels clacked against the concrete floor as she made her way back into the depths of the shop, her short skirt swinging with each step. Dean was just reaching for a shop towel after washing his hands, his coveralls down around his waist, and she felt that little clutch in her belly that she always got at the sight of his shoulders, bared in the tank top he was wearing. His eyebrows raised with surprise as she approached him, his eyes roaming over her. “Hi.”
“Are you the mechanic I’ve been hearing about?”
Dean’s lips twitched as he smothered his grin. “I’m the mechanic here, yeah.”
“I was told that you’re the best body man around.”
He tilted his head back, his eyes narrowing a little. “You were told?”
She shrugged. “I hear things. I came to see for myself.”
“Okay. So – what kind of work do you need done?”
She walked slowly over towards the Impala, which was sitting in the nearest stall where it was parked after an oil change. Dean watched the sway of her skirt, swallowing hard as she twirled to lean her back against the gleaming fender. “I was hoping that you could just check things over for me, see if I need anything – touched up.” She put her arms out to her sides, hands on the car, trying not to smile as Dean’s eyes were pulled to her cleavage. “Also, I think I might have a problem with my – intake manifold? Is that what you call it? I was told that you have the perfect tool for that kind of work.”
Dean cleared his throat a little. “So, what kind of car do you drive?”
Jordan smiled. “Oh, I’m not talking about my car.”
A smirk was beginning to curve his lips as he walked towards her, stopping in front of her to look up and down her body, slow and deliberate. “Well, from what I can see, your chassis is in perfect condition. But I’d have to get hands-on to be sure.”
“That’s the idea.” Her voice sounded breathless, catching just a bit as his hand touched her thigh, slipping beneath the hem of her skirt.
“You’re a bad girl, aren’t you? That short little skirt, and no panties?”
His fingers were trailing over her hip, squeezing at her ass and then sneaking around to explore between her thighs as she struggled to speak. “I wanted to make you happy.”
She bit at her lip as he stroked his fingers over her, teasing at her clit. “Oh, I’m more than happy,” he said, his voice gravelly with lust. He brought his fingers up to his lips, sucking her flavor from them before reaching for the buttons of her low-cut blouse. “Fuck,” he growled as he opened it to see the red satin and lace bra beneath, and she moved her arms to let her top fall to the floor. “You locked the door, right?”
She nodded, unable to form words at the moment, the heat of his gaze and his touch rendering her speechless. She braced her hands against the Impala again as his fingers traced the edge of her bra, caressing the rounded flesh above the fabric, then tugging the cups down and bending to drag his tongue over a nipple. She let out a soft whine, and then his large hands grasped her by the waist and set her up on the fender before he reached behind her back and unfastened her bra, tossing it out of the way and attacking her breasts in earnest.
Finally he laid her back on the car, staring down at her, his hands roaming over her body as she squirmed, every nerve electrified at his touch. “So fucking beautiful,” he growled, moving to flip her skirt up and pull her legs over his shoulders, bending to bury his face in her pussy with a moan. Already on fire, within moments she was thrashing underneath him, her heels flying from her feet as she shouted his name, coming hard as he drove her over the edge.
Once Jordan had calmed, Dean stood and dragged his forearm over his face, then reached for her waist, lifting her from the car and setting her to her feet. Legs wobbling, she leaned against the fender, watching as Dean, his eyes never leaving her, shoved his coveralls down and unfastened his jeans. He pulled her close again, walking her to the back of the Impala before shoving all his clothing down to his knees and spinning her to face the car. He wrapped one arm around her chest, his fingers kneading at her breast as his other hand covered her sex, holding her tight as he nipped at her neck. “You know what happens when you strut in here in your high heels and short little skirt with no underwear, naughty girl?” he rumbled in her ear, and she shook her head, trembling in his hold. “You get bent over my car and fucked.” At his last word, he plunged two fingers inside her, startling a cry from her lips, his arm around her the only reason she was still on her feet. After a few well-aimed strokes, he pulled his hand free from between her thighs and pushed her forward over the trunk, growling, “Hands on the car, and don’t move.”
After he had arranged her to his liking, moving her legs farther apart and pulling her hips towards him, he lined himself up, one hand on her back to keep her in place as he slowly penetrated her, pressing forward until he was balls-deep and she was whimpering beneath him. “You okay, baby?” he asked softly, waiting for her to nod before he moved, a tiny shift of his hips that made her moan. “If you liked that, just wait.” He pulled back, the slick drag against his sensitive cock making him hiss in a breath, teeth clenched. He pushed forward again with a soft growl, fighting for control for a moment before beginning a quickly increasing rhythm, his hands gripping Jordan’s hips to hold her in place. Each thrust forced a cry from her lips, incoherent begging and long, low moans of his name, spurring him on.
He felt his balls draw up tight, forcing a “Fuck!” from him as he began to flood her with his release, driving into her hard and fast. A moment later, she arched up with a broken shout of his name, her cunt seizing around him and making him swear again, shaking uncontrollably until she dropped to the shining surface of the Impala’s trunk, her breath coming in harsh sobs.
He let go of her, supporting himself with his hand against the car for a moment, waiting for his head to stop spinning. Jordan laid there beneath him, still panting, boneless and limp. Dean stood, pulling his pants up around his waist, and lifted her from the car and into his arms. He walked to his desk chair and sat with her in his lap, cradling her close against him. “Hey, sweetheart,” he whispered, his hand smoothing over her back, dropping a kiss to the top of her head.
Jordan tilted her head back to look at him, a serene little smile on her face. “Hey.”
Dean chuckled softly. “You good?”
She sighed, snuggling back against his chest. “I’m amazing.”
“Fucking right, you are. What the hell got into you today, anyway?” He smiled down at her, hands still stroking over her silky skin. “Not that I’m complaining...”
She shrugged a little, a shy smile curving her lips. “Ever since the first day I met you, I had this fantasy of being manhandled and fucked by a really hot mechanic.”
He blushed a little, bending to kiss her, lingering over her lips for a few moments. “So, did you walk down here like that?”
Jordan giggled. “Ummmm… no. I know it’s only three blocks, but I could just see a little breeze kicking up and me walking bare-assed down the street. And besides, I was afraid Mrs. Murphy would want to stop me and talk about her cat.” Dean laughed, and she continued. “So no, my car is outside.”
“Well, good – I think maybe we’ll drive home together, I think I need to clean the Impala before I take her out. Somebody made kind of a mess on the trunk.”
“Not my fault.”
“Totally your fault.” He kissed her firmly as if to seal his winning of the argument. “So, how about we go home and shower, then hit Molly’s?”
“That is the second best offer I’ve had all day.” She reached her hand to his face, her eyes soft and searching. “You know, I was thinking. Everything that’s happened to us – if I hadn’t been running away from Darrel, and you hadn’t been trying to escape the shit in Kansas City – we never would have met each other. I think it was meant to be.”
“Oh, baby, definitely,” he said as she stretched up to kiss him again. “So – maybe we should try to find your clothes.”
“I have no idea where my shoes are. I think I kicked them off when you were eating me out like a wild man.”
Dean’s laugh echoed through the garage. “You can go home barefoot, I’ll find ‘em later. I don’t know about you, but I’m dying for a bacon cheeseburger.”
“Oh, God, yes. And a beer.”
He wrapped his arms around her for one more squeeze. “Yep. Definitely meant to be.”

Apologies for any mistakes, this has been written on my phone and its a bit difficult to edit. Once I’m back with a working laptop I’ll give it a once over :)
Bucky had intended on renting a bike so you could ride down to Louisiana but with Sam’s suit it would’ve been an impossible feat.
He settled for hiring an SUV and added you both to the insurance so you could take it in turns driving on the long trip down south.
“Been together one day and we’re already on our first trip” You teased as you rested your feet on the dash, taking in the scenery as Bucky drove. His metal hand gripped the steering wheel as he peaked a glance over to your bare legs, resisting the urge to pull over.
“You’re the one having a mid life crisis doll not me” You feigned offense and swatted the soldier beside you, pleased to get a hit in as he tried to dodge your attack. His eyes remained on the road as he grasped your hand in his. “Less of that thank you” He laughed, bringing your hand to his lips, leaving a kiss on the back before giving it back to rest on your thigh, his hand not leaving yours.
“Looking forward to seeing Sam again?” He didn’t respond but his face said it all. “You’re so dramatic” You chuckled as you leant down to root around in your bag for the road trip snacks. Retrieving a bag of cashews, you offered it to Bucky who gladly took a handful.
“I just know he’s going to ask a billion questions about stuff we’ve not even discussed yet, that we’re probably not even ready to talk about. He didn’t stop asking about you y’know? Y/n this, Y/n that…he kept threatening to ask you out.”
“Oh he did”
The car swerved slightly as Bucky's grip on the wheel tightened, his concentration lapsing for a split second.
“He did what?” He asked, tearing his eyes from the road to glance over at you.
“It was just a bit of harmless flirting-” You began before being cut off.
“We flirted.” Bucky stated, his jaw clenching.
“We also did a lot of things just friends don’t do. Relax Sarge, he only asked to get a reaction out of me.”
Bucky grunted in response, knowing his reaction was a tad over the top but he couldn’t help it. You were his.
“We could always mess with him in return.” You pondered as you took a swig of your drink. “Maybe hold off on telling him about us, it’s only meant to be a flying visit anyway isn’t it? So we wouldn’t have to pretend for long… play him at his own game?”
Bucky smirked in response, completely on board with your little plan.
The next few hours passed with the typical car games and a quick power nap as Bucky continued driving.
“How long until you start at Starks?”
“A month thank god, the GRC wanted me gone pretty quickly, I didn't have to work my notice which was a blessing really. I’ll schedule a day to go and clear out my desk and say my goodbyes. Will you still get your pension if we live out of the country?”
“I’m not sure to be honest, I can pick up work wherever we are though, it wouldn’t be the first time. I’m good with my hands”
“You’re telling me” You muttered under your breath. Bucky heard you loud and clear and let out a laugh as he recalled how you spent most of last night. “Are we crazy? Travelling with no plan, barely any money and only just starting out as a couple?”
“Oh absolutely”
Eventually Bucky took a break from driving after you stopped for food in a roadside diner. It had been a while since you’d driven but you wanted to give Bucky the chance to get some sleep, something you knew he still struggled with.
Despite telling him to try and get some sleep on the back seats, he remained upfront with you, doing his best to battle the drowsiness that had overcome him. He’d not gotten much rest the past few weeks, from battling the Flag Smashers in Europe, to hunting down Zemo and then back to New York. In truth he was worried he’d have a nightmare and wasn’t sure on how he’d react but upon your insistence, he tried to get some shut eye. After an hour or so he dropped off, the sound of you humming along to a song on the radio sending him off into a dreamless sleep.
Bucky couldn’t quite believe it, he couldn’t remember the last time he slept without being haunted by memories of the Winter Soldier. Granted, he only got four hours of sleep , but it was the best he’d felt in a long time.
When it came to your turn to get some shut eye Bucky insisted on stopping over in a hotel for the night. You’d tried to convince him a motel would suffice after you lost the battle of you sleeping in the car but he was victorious.
To be frank, after spending so many hours in the car, you were grateful to be sleeping in a bed with your super soldier by your side.
As you slept, Bucky took the time to fire off a few emails advising he’d be ending his lease. Having slept earlier, he felt energised and was content in browsing the internet as you slept tucked into his arm.
He did his best not to wake you as he opened a selfie from Shuri of her with Ayo and Nomble, a chuckle escaping his lips as Shuri and Nomble looked to be thoroughly enjoying themselves on a boat trip in New York whilst Ayo sulked in the background.
He also replied to an email from his therapist's office, letting them know he’d be absent from his next session but planned on returning the following week.
Bucky was tempted to let Sam know he was coming but thought it best to surprise him.
The next day was much of the same, both of you switching the drive and stopping off at diners for food. Due to the lack of respect Bucky had for the speed limit, you were making good time and would be in Delacroix the following morning.
“-it was like I didn’t exist. Honestly it was the most humbling experience of my life”
“Sergeant Barnes in his uniform… now that is something I’ve got to see.”
“Maybe one day”
Your eyebrow perked at the thought. “Good god man” You groaned dramatically and sank further into your seat, giggling as you caught sight of the blush covering his cheeks. “For what it’s worth, lack of nutrients from the rationing clearly messed with her eyesight.” You were genuinely baffled how Peggy didn’t swoon for the man next to you.
“Where were you in the 40’s when I needed you huh?”
“I doubt I’d have been your type”
“Intelligent, strong woman with a great sense of humor? And thats not even mentioning your ass.. Oh no, definitely not my type” He replied sarcastically.
“Ha ha fine, I’ll take your word for it.”
“I’d have taken you dancing, maybe gone to a show or even the carnival. Anything you wanted.” He took your hand in his again and kissed the back of it as he pondered just how he’d of won you over back then. He usually didn't like to dwell on life before the war, the pain of losing his family and the future he lost was too much but having you in his life somehow made the memories hurt less. Having you with him now along with the future he could picture with you helped him make peace with his past life and accept that it wasn’t something he could ever go back to.
When Steve was returning the stones, he did wonder whether he should go back with him but the realisation that there wasn’t anything waiting for him apart from a time that he didn't belong to made his decision to remain in the present resolute. And by god was he thankful he stayed.
On your way to your final hotel before arriving at Sams, you’d taken over the driving and had kept Bucky entertained with your off key singing and terrible car games.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me” As it turns out, Bucky was a sore loser.
“What? It counts!!”
“You cannot see bacteria Y/N”
“Yes I can! It’s right...right… right there!” You pointed to a random bit of the car interior and held back a laugh at a clearly unamused Bucky.
“You’re so full of shit”
“How do you know I can’t see it huh? Guess it’s my turn again, I spy with my little -”
“No” He cut off as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. “Absolutely not. I’m going to choose a game.”
You let out a little smile and continued focusing on the road until the super soldier landed on something he liked.
“Okay okay, would you rather sounds fun. Doll, would you rather have the superpower of being invisible or ability to fly.”
“Aw come on Buck these are tame! If I have to answer, without a doubt invisibility.”
“Not dirty enough for you sweetheart?” A tingle rang down your spine at your new nickname. “I’d have to agree, invisibility easily.”
“Buck you’re an actual superhero, you’ve already got powers, leave some for us mere mortals!”
“... you think I’m a superhero?”
“....you’re literally an Avenger.” You reached across towards the man beside you, keeping your eyes on the road as you pressed your hand against his forehead. “Are you feeling okay?”
Bucky rolled his eyes at your sarcasm and swatted your hand away from his head. “Fine you made your point.”
You shook your head as you returned your hand to the steering wheel, tapping away to the song on the radio.
“The rest of these questions are boring” He muttered as he furiously scrolled through his cell.
“C’mon, go R rated”
“It’s no fun when I already know the answers to these!”
“Pfft doubtful, come on, hit me”
“Spit or swallow, you’re a swallower doll.See?”
“Okay okay! You’re right, I give in. How about we just ask each other some questions?”
“But you already know everything,” He remarked, throwing a few cashews into his mouth.
“When did you first see me as someone other than a friend?” You’d thrown him off guard with that question, his hand stuck in mid air as he went to throw more snacks into his mouth.
“Wouldn't you rather know my most embarrassing sexual encounters?” He offered but was met with silence. “Fine……. I’ve never seen you as just a friend. Yes we were friends before we became more and honestly Y/n if it never progressed further than just friendship I would’ve been fine with it, more than fine with it y’know? Meeting you was the best fucking thing-” “Buck, it’s okay” Your hand reached out towards him and squeezed his thigh as you kept your eyes on the road.
“There’s more… before we officially met in the lobby when that creep wouldn’t leave you the fuck alone, I’d seen you around. I was coming back from lunch with Yori and he was complaining about having gone for burgers instead of our usual and there you were, headphones in completely oblivious to the world and searching for your keys in your purse as usual. You were just so carefree - everything I wanted to be. And then a couple of days later we met and I was a goner.”
You bit your lip as you fought back a smile, overwhelmed by his honesty. It was a welcome feeling, knowing you weren’t the only one that felt an attraction almost immediately.
“I’d seen you around too, before we officially met I mean. It’s kind of hard to miss you” You chuckled as you snuck a glimpse over at him and found him doing his usual glare. “It was pretty early on for me as well, do you remember when we went for coffee?”
“And you ordered us two cups of sugar? Yeah I remember”
“Mocha Latte’s aren’t bad for you… they just give you a bit of a buzz”
“Especially if you order extra cream…”
“Anyway! I’ve always been attracted to you, I’m not blind y’know but after seeing this dark looming strong man consume a drink like that, and have some residue cream left on his lower lip mind you, I just knew that it was more than just a crush. There’s something oddly charming and attractive about seeing someone so intimidating be so soft. It’s like I’m the only one who gets to see that side of you and I love it”
Bucky didn't quite know what to say, he was slightly flustered at the compliments you were throwing at him and by the knowledge that you’d been interested far earlier than he had ever dreamed of.
“We’re idiots aren’t we? For not realising sooner.”
“Oh without a doubt”

Where have you been? (1)
*This takes place in the Cursed!Bf au. This is pretty focused on Pico's point of view. Not a lot of shipping in this chapter, but I had a lot of fun writing this. This will be a 2-parter. Btw, swear words.*
Pico had challenged Boyfriend to another rap battle for fun and awaited his arrival. He was late, but they did plan to meet up at 5:00 pm so Pico figured it was just rush hour traffic holding him up. So he waited patiently. Minutes turned to hours, and the sun had set below the horizon. Pico tried to text him, but got no response. This was bullshit. He waited for hours like a fool and now B was ghosting him? If he didn't want to rap why didn't he just cancel?
Pico grit his teeth in frustration as he got into his car. He began driving to Boyfriend's and Girlfriend's house. His grip on the steering wheel was unnecessarily tight. Sure, maybe he was overreacting a little. It was just a rap battle, but it angered him that B had wasted his time. He could have done something to let him know that they had to cancel. So in the moment, telling him off just sounded cathartic. He muttered random obscenities under his breath, as if reciting how he was gonna tell him off.
By the time he had reached the house Bf and Gf shared together it was dark out, some stars had started making their mark on the blackened sky. Pico could see the living room light was on. Good, they were home. Pico slammed the car's door, then walked up the little path to the house's front door. He knocked on the door and waited. He tapped his foot impatiently. He had spent his whole afternoon waiting for this guy to show up so the idea of waiting any longer annoyed the hell out of him.
He could hear the door being unlocked and was about to start his angry rant when he saw it was Girlfriend at the door. The look on her face was odd, she looked surprised and… worried? That seemed off to Pico, as she usually opened the door with more enthusiasm no matter who was there. She was wearing a red crop top and black sweatpants, her comfy clothes.
"... Pico? What are you doing here?" She asked, her tone came off as nervous. "I just wanna ask Boyfriend something." He decided not to yell at Girlfriend, she wasn't the one he was pissed at anyway. "Oh… He isn't with you? He doesn't… live here anymore."
Just like that, all the anger built up in Pico had just fizzled. Replaced with confusion and shock. And a little bit of worry. "Why doesn't he live here??" Pico asked, what was going on? "Bf and I… we broke up. He left a few weeks ago and I haven't seen him since." She seemed nervous, she avoided making eye contact as she spoke. She left fidgeting with her hair, a nervous habit of hers.
"So you don't know where he is, huh?" Pico asked, he too, started feeling nervous.
"I haven't seen him since we broke up. He left most of his stuff here too. Even his phone. I figured he had run off to stay with you but I guess that's not the case." Girlfriend continued. Pico's worry only grew from there. He put his hands in his pockets and awkwardly continued their conversation. "How long has this been going on? Like, when was the last time you saw him?"  Pico had to know. How long had he been out of the loop here? Girlfriend looked him in the eyes, almost shamefully. "Two weeks."
Pico couldn't help but be shocked by this. "Do you know anyone else he might have talked to? Anyone he might be staying with right now?" Anyone who would know where he is? That was what he really wanted to know. Where could he have gone? Girlfriend shook her head. "No, I don't know who he'd go to other than you. Most people we know don't really like him that much as far as I know." Pico couldn't help but grow more worried. This just wasn't like B… was he in trouble? "Well.. I'm gonna try to find out where he is. You wanna help?" Pico gestured towards his car, thinking they could ask around. Girlfriend averted her gaze, once again avoiding eye contact. "I'm pretty sure I'm the last person he wants to see.."
Pico couldn't argue with that. Hell, when he and Bf broke up they still kept in contact to some degree. Boyfriend completely ghosting someone was rare, so he must've really wanted to avoid her. "Yeah… I guess that makes sense. Uh, have a good night." Pico and Girlfriend shared goodbyes and went their separate ways. Pico never liked being alone with her, to be honest. It was always awkward, now it was made worse with Boyfriend being who knows where. Pico drove off in his car, contemplating what he should do. 'Maybe I should just call some of B's friends. He might just be staying at one of their places.' He thought to himself.
Pico had to think about who Boyfriend trusted the most (not counting himself or Gf in this case). He started thinking of people B had introduced him to. 'I have Hex's number, he's friendly, maybe Bf talked to him? It's worth a shot.' Pico scrolled through his contacts until he found Hex's number. The phone dialed for a few seconds, then he heard a robotic voice greet him. "Hello friend!" Hex exclaimed, enthusiastic as always. Pico wasn't really sure if he'd consider himself as Hex's 'friend' per say, but he never disliked the guy.
"Hey Hex, it's Pico."
"Greetings Pico! Haven't heard from you in a while! How are you?"
"I'm alright, thanks. I actually need to ask you something. Could you help me with something?"
"You sound worried. How can I help?"
"I know this might sound random but… is Boyfriend staying with you by chance?" Pico nervously tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. He hoped that by some chance that maybe Hex knew something.
"No, why?" Just like that, Pico's hope was dashed. Despite that, he decided to fill Hex in on the situation. Maybe having another person looking out for B would help their chances of finding him.
"Well, he and Girlfriend split up 2 weeks ago and he just kinda… disappeared. I've tried to reach out to him but he's not responding. Gf said she has no idea where he is."
" I'm sorry, I don't know any more than you do."
Pico let out a small sigh. "Yeah, I'm worried about him. Hey, if you see him, will you let me know?"
"I will."
"Thank you, I appreciate it." Pico was about to hang up the phone when Hex said one last thing.
"Actually, my friend Whitty sometimes hangs out with Boyfriend. I'll call and ask him if he knows where Boyfriend is." Hex sounded hopeful, which made Pico feel a little better. "Thanks, Hex. Let me know what he says."
"Will do! Bye for now!"
"Bye."
Pico hung up. Deciding to drive home for the time being. He couldn't help but suddenly wonder though… who was Whitty? The name sounded familiar, but he couldn't recall meeting someone named Whitty. Maybe Bf had mentioned the guy to Pico before. Regardless, if this guy knew anything about Bf, he'd take it.
Pico got home and felt exhausted. He kicked his shoes off at the front door, and dragged his feet as he walked towards his bedroom. He changed into some pajamas and started preparing to sleep. Part of him wanted to stay up and wait to hear back from Hex, but he was tired, and he needed to rest. He'd continue his search after getting some sleep, he decided. Pico pulled his bedsheets over his body, closed his eyes, and eventually drifted off to sleep.
Pico got up the next morning at around 7:30 am. He got dressed, brushed his hair and teeth, all that usual morning routine stuff. Then, just as he was about to start calling more people to see if they knew anything about Bf, he got a call from Hex.
"Hello? Hex?"
"Pico!" Hex yelled, sounding excited. "I have good news!" Now Pico was beginning to feel excited. "I talked to my friend Whitty. He said he saw Bf a few days ago!"
"Does he know where B is now?" Pico was nervously fidgeting with the collar of his shirt. He wasn't entirely sure why, but ever since his conversation with Girlfriend, he just had a gut feeling that something was wrong. He hoped it was just paranoia. "Does he know where Bf is now?" Pico asked. 'Please say yes.' He pleaded in his mind. "Hang on, let me ask him." Hex replied, then his voice sounded distant. He was talking to someone in person, their conversation muffled. "He said no, but he saw Bf in the same general area a few times last week. Maybe all three of us should go there and look for him together! Like a search party!" Hex sounded hopeful, and honestly it wasn't a bad idea. Pico took a deep breath. This was a good thing, this narrowed the search a bit. Pico reminded himself. "Okay, let's do it." He said, feeling determined. "I'll send you the address so we can meet up. See you there!" Hex proclaimed. "Thanks, I'll be there." Pico hung up, then rushed to get his keys, his gun, and other supplies then got in his car. Hex, as promised, sent him the address. Pico entered it into his phone's navigation system and drove there. It was in an oddly run-down neighborhood, with rundown buildings and dark alleys. He wondered what Bf would be doing there. He honestly didn't like the idea of parking his car in this neighborhood, do you worried that it would get stolen or broken into. So he parkes a little ways away, and walked the rest. It was for the best.
He walked to their agreed meet up spot. The sidewalk was in poor condition, as well as most of the buildings around him. Cracked and discolored walls, boarded up windows, shattered glass and trash was all over the place. The street alone looked as though the city gave up on it. This whole place was run down. Even one of the street lamps was knocked over, luckily it was the morning so it didn't matter.
Pico could see Hex's monitor head and basketball jersey from a distance. Said robot noticed him and waved to him. He saw someone else there with him, presumably Whitty. Upon closer inspection, Pico noticed a few things about Whitty. The first being that he was fucking tall as hell! Pico knew that he was short in comparison to most people but even so, this dude was TALL. Pico standing at his full height wasn't even half this guy's size. He had to be close to 9 feet tall. The next thing he noticed was the fact that his head was a bomb. His eyes were orange and glowed. Pico couldn't help but stare at the guy. When did Bf come into contact with this guy? How did they meet?
"Hey." Said the tall bomb-headed man. Pico flinched slightly, realizing he must have noticed him staring. His voice was kind of gruff, but not the usual kind of gruff. It reminded Pico of an electric guitar for some reason. Though he figured it probably was best not to say that out loud. Pico snapped out of his thoughts and finally replied. "Hey, I'm Pico. I'm guessing you're Whitty?" Pico held out his hand to shake Whitty's, the taller man returned the gesture. "Yeah, that's me." When their hands touched, Pico was surprised by how warm Whitty's hand was. It was definitely hotter than his own human hand. Not to mention how smooth his skin was, it felt somewhat like metal, but not quite. He kind of wanted to keep holding it just so he could examine it more, but he figured that would be weird to do to a guy he just met. So he let go.
"So… you saw Bf around here?" Pico asked, and decided it was time to start their search. "We crossed paths a few times but every time he ran away. He seemed… upset." Whitty explained, somewhat trailing off towards the end of his sentence. He too, seemed like he was worried about Boyfriend. Pico wondered how close they were. "Can you show us where you last saw him?" Hex asked, a question mark appearing on his screen. Whitty nodded "Yeah, follow me." He turned on his heels and began walking in front of them. He seemed confident, like he knew the area well. Pico and Hex quickly followed.
It was mostly quiet between them, Hex played some simple tune to break the silence. Something Pico appreciated. He felt a little awkward, he didn't know anything about Whitty, but apparently he was a friend of Bf's. He quickened his pace a bit so he could walk next to Whitty, he decided to break the silence between them. "So… how'd you meet Bf?" Whitty looked at Pico with an unreadable expression. "He challenged me to a rap battle." Pico chuckled at Whitty's answer and replied jokingly with "Ah, so the same way he meets everyone." Whitty chuckled. "Yeah, pretty much." He could hear Hex laugh a bit too. It really was the way he met most people. "So, how long have you known each other?" Pico asked. "Hmm… I think months now, almost a year. What about you? You two seem close." Whitty looked at Pico quizzically. Pico rubbed the back of his neck "Aw geez, a really long time. Since we were kids." Whitty's eyes widened in surprise. "Wow. So you're really close then huh? That explains a lot actually."  Pico tilted his head in curiosity. What did he mean by that? "Yeah? Like what?"  Whitty shrugged. "I dunno… B talks about you sometimes. He told me several times that I should meet you. Said he thought we'd get along." Whitty chuckled. "He always looked so happy when he talked about you.."
Pico couldn't help but feel flattered, but he also felt a little jealous. Bf told Whitty so much, he trusted him. He knew He longer than Whitty did, yet Bf apparently didn't trust him enough to tell him about his and Gf's breakup. Pico tried to ignore those thoughts. Bf, wherever he was, needed him. It wasn't time to be bitter. "Wish we could've met under better circumstances." Pico muttered, Whitty nodded. "Yeah."
Hex then decided to interject their conversation. "Hey Whitty, are we close to where you last saw Boyfriend?" The robot asked suddenly, startling Pico. For a second, he actually forgot the robot was there. 'Oh yeah.. We've been walking for a little while now.' Pico realized that he had lost track of where they were. "Yeah, sorry. It's just around this next corner, we're almost there." Whitty instructed. "Ok!" Hex replied. Pico nodded, observing their surroundings. This part of the neighborhood was… odd. It didn't seem quite as old as the rest of this beaten-down area. It seemed more… recently abandoned. The buildings, though still a mess, seemed more modern in comparison. Like at some point, this was a nice neighborhood, possibly even upper class at one point.
The trio turned right at the faded crosswalk, about three buildings down the street, they stopped. Whitty turned to face Pico and Hex. "This is where I last saw him. I tried to talk to him but he ran off and I lost track of him." Pico looked at the rundown building they were in front of. Unlike the other buildings in the area, it didn't seem that old. What surprised him though, was the obvious damage. It looked like the building caught fire at some point. The windows looked like they were shattered from the inside. Pico looked through them, he could see the remains of what appeared to be a restaurant. Broken and burned tables, shattered plates and collapsed support beams were all over the place. He could see the remains of broken speakers towards the back of the dining room, close to what was probably a bathroom. Pico took a few steps back and tried to read what was left of the restaurant's sign. Then it clicked.
He had heard of this place, about a year ago it was on the news because some lunatic blew up the place in the middle of a rap battle. He remembered seeing Boyfriend and Girlfriend escaping the smoldering wreckage on the news. He called them as soon as he saw it and let them stay at his house that night to comfort them. He could vividly remember the look on Girlfriend's face when they watched the aftermath on the news. Complete and utter terror. He had never seen her more scared in his life. Apparently the arsonist was never caught, for some reason. Pico never understood that. It was a restaurant full of people, surely somebody would have seen where he went, right? The thought made Pico uneasy. Why would B come anywhere near this place after that?
"Yo, Pico. You listening?" Whitty's voice suddenly pulled him out of his thoughts. He wondered how long he was zoning out for. "Sorry I- I just got lost in thought. What were you saying?" Pico felt bad. He was supposed to be looking for his missing friend, not zoning out. Pico mentally chastised himself for it before focusing on Whitty again. "I don't know where he went from here, but I don't think he left this side of town." Pico nodded, then looked up at Hex, his monitor was processing something. Pico guessed he was thinking up a plan. Then the monitor showed a map. "Maybe we should split up into different areas" the robot started, his now map that was once his face highlighted three different areas in the neighborhood. "After each of us surveys their area we can check in with each other over the phone." Hex offered. Pico, though he appreciated the thought, didn't really like the idea of the three of them splitting up in a neighborhood like this. Sure, he could take care of himself. Hell, he was an assassin for fucks sake. But even he knew he wasn't invincible. He was vulnerable. Especially in an area he wasn't familiar with. Before he could politely object though, Whitty commented on the plan. "Sorry Hex, that's a no go. This place ain't a good area. If we split, we could get ambushed." Pico was relieved that Whitty agreed with him. "If there were more of us, then we could split up into teams. But it's just too risky to do as is." Pico added, making his stance on the situation known. Hex sighed (or at least did the robot equivalent of sighing), his arms dropped and his now disappointed face appeared on the monitor's screen again. "Ok… this is far less efficient though." Hex replied, defeated. Pico gave him a comforting pat on the arm. "We appreciate the thought, Hex." Pico said, hoping it would appease the mechanical man. Hex smiled and let it go. "Where should we start looking?" Hex asked the group. Pico couldn't help but eye the burnt restaurant. "Let's check in here first." Whitty and Hex both looked at Pico quizzically, but shrugged it off and agreed.
Pico attempted to open the front doors, but they wouldn't give, the restaurant's double doors were stuck shut. Pico was about to slam into it when he was stopped by a large hand. Slightly startled, he realized it was Whitty who lightly grabbed him. The bomb man gently moved Pico away from the door."I got it." Was all he said before he gripped one of the door's handles and yanked the whole door off its hinges. Wood splinters flew everywhere as the door cracked and broke.  Whitty tossed the door aside with one arm. Pico's jaw almost dropped. 'Holy shit. Either that door was weak or he's strong as hell!' Pico was tempted to comment on it but didn't want to come across as rude so all he did was thank Whitty. Hex on the other hand clapped his metallic claw hands, the metal making numerous "ting" sounds. "Great job Whitty!" Hex exclaimed before walking through the now open doorway. Whitty rubbed the back of his head, seeming a little embarrassed. Pico noticed Whitty's cheeks were slightly glowing orange. Was that how he blushed? "Err.. Thanks. It's nothing." Whitty had to lean down in order to fit through the doorway, Pico walked in after him.
The three of them spread out a bit to investigate the remains of the restaurant. Pico honestly thought it was depressing to look at. This had once been a peaceful place to take your loved ones to and enjoy food. Now it was just a husk of its former glory. An ashy, decrepit ruin. After a few minutes, they found nothing and decided to leave. Pico felt bad for wasting time in this old building, but he was glad the others were still willing to help. The trio decided to keep looking around the neighborhood, continuing their search for Boyfriend.
Hours. They had been searching for hours, and there was still no sign of Boyfriend anywhere. Pico felt his legs getting sore. He hadn't walked so much without stopping in a long time. Hex seemed unfazed, but maybe that was because robots couldn't get sore muscles. Whitty seemed a little tired, but didn't show signs of really slowing down. Pico really wanted to just power through it and be helpful, but his legs were in agony. He needed to sit down. It didn't help that it was past noon and he hadn't eaten much that day. "Hey guys. I need to sit down for a bit, my legs are killing me." Pico admitted, hopong the others would be cool about it. "Okay, let's take a break. We've been doing this all day." Whitty agreed. Hex noticed a bench in the distance. "Why don't you rest over there?" The robot offered, and the other boys agreed. The bench was a bit tall, Pico had to hop on to it. Whitty on the other hand had no such trouble, being the vertically-blessed giant he was. Pico was a little jealous. Pico let out a sigh. "Where the hell is that blue-haired dumbass?" Pico asked rhetorically, he was getting frustrated with this. He was worried, tired, and felt lost. He thought he knew Bf well, but he didn't know him well enough to predict this. "I wish I knew." Whitty added, sounding worried as well. Pico was thinking about what to say when his stomach growled loudly.
"Hungry, huh?" Whitty chuckled. "Fuck yes, I'm starving." Pico replied. "You know what? I'm gonna get lunch. You hungry?" Pico asked, standing up despite his legs begging him not to. "I'm always hungry, sure." Whitty chuckled again. "I'm never hungry!" Hex happily chirped. That time Pico chuckled. "Well, you could still come with us, even if you don't eat anything." Pico offered. "Thank you friend!" Hex smiled. "Cool." Pico gave a thumbs up. "So… where are we going?" Whitty asked, tilting his head a bit. He stood up, ready to follow Pico. "First to my car. Then I'll drive us to a restaurant or something." Pico explained, beginning to walk towards said vehicle. "Just a heads up, I parked a bit far, but it should only take, like, 20 minutes to get there." Pico warned, knowing the others (or at least Whitty) were tired as well. "No problem friend! Lead the way!" Hex declared enthusiastically. Whitty just shrugged and said "We've been walking for hours, 's not like 20 minutes will kill us." And just like that, they were off.
Pico, as promised, drove the three of them to a small diner that wasn't too far away. It was thankfully in a nicer neighborhood. The three sat together at a booth table near the back. Hex had powered off to regain some energy. More or less leaving Whitty and Pico alone.
"Hey, lunch is on me, k?" Pico stated. He had been paid generously on his last job, so he wasn't worried about meal prices. Whitty seemed caught off guard. "Uh, y-you don't have to do that-" "I insist." Pico bluntly interjected. Whitty again, tried to decline. "I shouldn't- you don't need to do that, really." Whitty stammered a bit. Pico doubled down on it. "I'm not budging on this man." Whitty tilted his head to the side curiously, but still seemed slightly flustered. "Why are you so persistent in paying for both of us?" Whitty asked. Pico shrugged. "I just want to thank you for all your help today. I've been stressed out trying to figure out where B is and I really appreciate you helping us out." Pico said earnestly, he was still really worried about Boyfriend. "I.. You're welcome. I'm not gonna lie, I care about him, and I'm worried for the guy. Last time I saw him, he seemed off." Whitty confessed, rubbing the back of his head. Pico's curiosity piqued a bit. "Off? In what wa-" ''Hello boys! Can I get you something to drink?" Pico was suddenly interrupted by their waitress.  "Oh. Right. We should probably order something haha." Pico joked, chuckling a bit. "I'll take a Coke. What about you Whitty?" Pico asked, gesturing towards the taller male. "I'd just like water, please." Whitty replied, the waitress wrote their drink orders. "Okay. Are you ready to order your meals as well?" She asked sweetly. "I think we need a few minutes." Admitted Pico. "Okay, I'll give you some time to think about it and will be back with your drinks in a bit, okay?" Whitty and Pico politely thanked her and looked at their menus.
"What're you thinking of ordering?" Pico asked, he wondered what kind of food Whitty enjoyed. "I don't know. I'm still surprised that you're paying for both of us." Whitty responded unsurely. "It's all good man. I got it" Pico gave a reassuring smile. "I just want to warn you that I eat a LOT. I'm not exactly cheap to feed." Whitty warned, embarrassed. Pico chuckled, "I'm not exactly peckish, either." "I really mean it, Pico. I eat more than humans do." Whitty once again gave a disclaimer to Pico. "And I really mean it when I say I'll cover it. Just get what you want." Pico stated adamantly.
"Really?"
"Yes, really."
"..."
"..."
"Are you sure?"
"Whitty if you ask me that again I'm gonna smack the shit out of you."
(To be continued…)
(I wanted to write more but this is long so I'm gonna break it into two chapters. The next one is gonna have more angst so I wanted to end this one on a bit of a lighter note

Eren sat next to (Y/N) in the class they shared together. It was an early morning and the two both felt exhausted. The two planned overnight on what they were going to practice at the field, Eren had access since he was an athlete, but the two had to be quick. Campus security was strict on any students out past curfew.
"So what time again?" Eren asked, looking over at her.
Her eyes averted towards his. "I have class until 7, so I can go right after." she replied.
He nodded. "Sounds good.. come by my dorm and I'll give you a ball and we can practice," he said, a small smile growing on his face as his mind flashed images of the two playing catch.
"Ugh! What if I suck? I guarantee I can barely throw a football," she said, rolling her eyes.
He put his hand on her shoulder. "You got this! I believe in you (Y/N),"
Her cheeks grew hot from his touch and his words. Eren had an odd way of making her feel flustered.
"I'll try my best to believe that.." she mumbled before looking up at the front of the class where Professor Ackerman stood.
"Good morning.. today is going to be a pretty short lesson. I'll be releasing you all early today, so I hope you cooperate for this to go smoothly." he said, eyes roaming among the students.
(Y/N) sighed, taking out her laptop to take notes. Eren did the same, he watched as she chewed her lip. For some reason, he always liked when she bit her lip, it was something he found.. attractive?
"Eren."
His eyes looked towards the front of the class where Professor Ackerman was staring at him.
"U-Uh.. yes?" he asked, nodding his head.
The stoic man sighed. "I get you think (Y/N) is cute, but please pay attention." he replied, turning back towards the board.
Eren's face grew pink as he felt many eyes staring at him, (Y/N)'s being one of them.
"Yeah Eren.." she whispered, giggling a bit at his cuteness.
He rolled his eyes before elbowing her side, causing a small yelp to escape her lips. She glared at him and returned back to her notes, a wide grin appearing on his features. He just loved messing with her.
Eren ended up zoning out while taking notes. His mind wandered to other things like football, sleep, (Y/N), wait what?
"Eren!"
He turned his head to meet her gaze, she was putting her stuff away. "Class is over, come on," she said, slinging her backpack over her shoulder.
He blinked for a moment before putting his stuff into his bag. 30 minutes really flashed like that?
"I barely paid attention to what he was saying.." Eren said, rubbing his tired eyes.
She exited the classroom with him by her side. "Trust me.. I don't understand Ackerman much either. Sasha had him and almost failed his class," she replied, nudging his arm a bit.
A smile grew onto his lips. "Yeah I guess he is…" he said, turning his head to look at her.
There was that stare again.
His eyes wandered to the small features of her face, (Y/N) was so pretty to him.
"Do you wanna head to your dorm? You know.. to pick up the football?" she asked, breaking his thoughts.
"Y-Yeah! Let's go," he replied, heading towards the exit of the campus building.
She followed him to his residence hall. Eren was walking pretty quickly, curse him and his long legs. (Y/N) slowly caught up, grabbing his arm in the process.
"Slow down! I almost lost you there," she said, trying to catch her breath.
Pink dusted onto his cheeks. "My bad! I'll slow down.." he muttered before opening the door to his building.
She rolled her eyes before following him down the hall to his dorm, she had only been to his dorm about once. The one time she helped him clean it. She silently prayed she wasn't this gross guy who just dirtied his room after cleaning it, that would for sure disappoint her.
He opened it and ushered her inside, her eyes scanned the room. He still kept it neat, surprisingly.
"I should have one around here somewhere," Eren said, opening his drawer. He dug around the dresser for a moment before pulling out the football. "Here ya go!"
He tossed it to her, she caught it and eyed the ball. She hadn't touched one in a pretty long time.
"So 7:30 right?" she said, looking at him.
He smiled, "Yeah for sure! I'll text you when I'm on my way," he replied.
She nodded, "Sounds good! I'll see you then. I gotta head to my next class.. so uh, I'll text you!" she said before heading towards the door.
He waved, "See you later!"
She made her way out of his dorm. Eren smiled to himself, (Y/N) was such a cute idiot. He couldn't get over it, the way she eyed the football made him happy, she looked so cute.
Maybe tonight would go well… maybe, just maybe, Eren could see her as more than a friend.
-
Eren was awoken in his dorm by his phone going off. He wasn't sure what time it was, but it was dark out. He could faintly see the lights from the campus shining into his room, lighting up the walls.
A groan escaped his mouth as he grabbed his phone, Jean was calling him for some reason.
"Hello?" Eren said, his voice deep and groggy from sleep.
"Finally! Dude I've called you like four times! Were you sleeping?" Jean asked over the phone.
He rubbed his tired eyes, "Yeah I was.. what do you want though? Where are you?" he asked. He could faintly hear some background noise.
"I'm at Connie's frat right now! You should come by! This party is getting pretty lit, plus you have been laying low on partying anyway," Jean replied.
Eren looked at the time on his phone, it read 7:00.
He contemplated for a moment, would going out partying even be worth it? He had been kind of low on the party scene lately, it may help him feel a bit better.
"Fine… I'll be there in 10," he replied, sitting up on his bed.
"Sick! I'll see you then!" Jean replied before hanging up the phone with a click.
Eren sighed, he stood up and turned on the light to his room. He put on a black zip up hoodie and some grey sweatpants, he wasn't exactly looking to impress and do much. Maybe a few shots and that's all? Plus it was a Wednesday night.
As Eren exited his dorm, he couldn't help but feel like he was forgetting something. Did he have assignments? No. Practice? No. He wasn't exactly sure what was missing, he just shrugged it off and made his way to the frat house.
Little did he know… he was forgetting something.
-
Eren downed his third shot that night, the burning of the alcohol went down his throat and to his stomach. He placed the glass onto the table, leaning back against the cushions of the couch.
"You want another?" Connie asked, holding the bottle towards him.
Eren shook his head, "Nah.. I'm good."
He felt a weight next to him, Jean was sitting next to him now. His face was lightly pink from the alcohol he consumed earlier, Jean was such a lightweight drunk.
"So Jaeger when are you even coming back on the team? You've been benched for weeks," he asked, looking at him.
Eren sighed, "I dunno.. maybe if coach actually listened to me." he replied with a shrug.
Jean slung his arm around his shoulder, "You got this! I think you'll be back soon," he slurred.
Eren pushed Jean off of him, "You smell like beer dude, go somewhere else."
He furrowed his brows, "Shut it! You seem grumpy.. did (Y/N) stop letting you hit or something?" Jean asked, crossing his arms.
Eren's eyes grew wide at Jean's words.
Shit!
"Oh shit.. fuck! (Y/N)!" Eren yelled.
"Huh? Is everything okay Eren?" Connie asked, looking at him with furrowed brows.
He fumbled for his phone, the time read 8:20. It all hit him at once. Eren was supposed to be at the field practicing with her, it totally slipped his mind! He also noticed the missed texts and phone calls he had from her.
(Y/N): 9 missed calls
7:02 <-(Y/N): hey i'm done with class!
7:10 <-(Y/N): uh hello? did you fall asleep?
7:19 <-(Y/N): Eren??? dude i'm at the field
7:21 <-(Y/N): dude seriously, where are you?
7:32 <-(Y/N): Eren, i'm not playing anymore. where are you??? you were supposed to be here.
7:41 <-(Y/N): wtf dude?? are you seriously ditching me?? this isn't funny Eren.
7:49 <-(Y/N): i'm giving you 15 more minutes if you're not gonna show up, i'm leaving.
8:01<-(Y/N): okay cool. ignore me, thanks for being an asshole. i thought you were cool but i guess people never change huh? don't even bother coming.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
"I gotta go, see you guys later." Eren said before rushing up the stairs out of the basement.
Eren rushed out of the frat house, he pushed past a few people and got outside. The wind picked up as he rushed towards the campus, he couldn't go to sleep tonight knowing that he forgot. He felt so guilty, that was fucked up for him to do.
In the distance storm clouds brewed, lightning flared in the sky lighting up the darkening clouds. Thunder boomed in the horizon as the wind began to blow around the fall leaves.
Just what I need, a fucking storm Eren thought as he rushed to the practice fields.
The bright lights were still on, unfortunately Eren didn't see (Y/N). He looked around the field, maybe she was in her car?
Eren fished for his phone to call her. "Come on pick up.." he groaned, looking around the empty field. The wind blowing in his hair.
"So.. you finally decided to show up."
He turned to see (Y/N) leaning against the small bench, her arms crossed.
"(Y/N)! I-I'm.. I didn't mean-"
"Just save it. I don't wanna hear your excuses," she cut him off.
Eren tried coming towards her, "I'm sorry! I didn't get your texts and everything slipped my mind!"
She rolled her eyes, "You left me here for an hour! I genuinely thought you were a nice guy.. but I guess some people never change. Just do this all yourself." she replied, tossing the football at him.
He watched as she began to walk away, the storm in the distance beginning to get closer. He ran towards her, grabbing her forearm.
"(Y/N).. please don't go, there is a storm right now and I don't want you walking by yourself." he said, looking at her with concern in his eyes.
She tried pulling away from him, "Eren just go! You clearly don't give a shit, just go back to your stupid party. I could care less.." she mumbled.
The crash of the thunder made him look up at the sky, "(Y/N)! I'm being serious! We need to go inside, just come with me okay!?" he yelled.
She scoffed, "Just fuck off dude! Let me go back to my dorm!" she argued back.
Eren was beginning to get frustrated with her, "I already explained! I get what I did wasn't cool! Just stop fucking around and let's go! The dorms are so far and you'll be walking in the rain, just come with me already!" he replied.
Droplets of water began to fall from the sky, darkening the material of Eren's clothes. Lightning flashed along the sky and thunder followed soon after, booming and rumbling making the ground slightly shake.
"No! Just let me go back by myself, I don't need your fucking help. You're such an ass! I wish I never helped you, God, I was so dumb to even think you changed!" she yelled as the rain pelted down on them.
He stayed silent, the rain hitting his head and making his hair wet. It soon began to fall at a quicker pace.
"I'm leaving.." she mumbled before starting to turn away.
Suddenly, Eren grabbed her arm and put his hand behind her head, pulling her into a kiss. At first she didn't move, then her lips suddenly began to move against his. Her arms went to his neck.
The rain fell onto them, soaking their clothes and making the ground below them wet. The kiss they shared was raw, passionate, and it broke the tension they've been having for the past two weeks.
"Just shut up (Y/N).." he said before pressing his lips back onto hers.
His arms snaked around her waist, bringing her closer to his skin. She shivered a bit as the wind blew against her wet flesh.
"E-Eren.." she said, breaking the kiss between them. Her lips puffy.
He looked up at the sky, "Let's go.. we're gonna get sick," he said.
He took her hand into his, her cheeks growing hot as he guided her through the wet field and towards the locker rooms. Eren had snuck a key and he always kept it on him just in case he ever needed a way back into school, he silently hoped (Y/N) wouldn't tell anyone.
He slid the key inside of the lock and turned it a few times, he felt the click of the lock and pulled the door open so she could step inside the locker room. Nobody would be around at this hour so nobody would catch them.
(Y/N) shivered entering the locker room, both of their clothes were soaking wet; the cooler air made goosebumps form onto Eren's skin.
"Just sit right here," Eren said, pointing at a spot in front of his locker.
(Y/N) plopped down, the sound of her wet leggings hitting the surface of the bench. Her hair was soaking, so was her outfit, she had no idea how she was going to explain this to Sasha.
Eren walked into the showers, his eyes scanning for the towels they kept for the players. He opened the door to the closet and grabbed two of the white ones, he hoped nobody would notice they were missing since his coach kept count of all that shit.
The squelching of Eren's shoes made (Y/N) look up, he tossed her the towel before sitting down next to her.
"I'm sorry again.. if you don't want to help anymore, you don't have to." he said, looking at her.
She rubbed the material along her face and through her hair. A sigh escaping her lips before she spoke, "I'm not gonna stop helping you.. that's not who I am, but I wish I got some kind of heads up."
Eren nodded, wiping some water off his face. "That's my fault and I'm sorry for that," he replied.
She looked at the ground. "You're forgiven.. but Eren," she said, looking at him.
His eyes averted towards her, his head nodding to the side. "Hm?" he asked.
She chewed the inside of her cheek. "Why did you kiss me?"
Eren let out air through his nose, he leaned against the lockers behind him. His back pressing against a lock, why did he kiss her? Was it just the heat of the moment? Did he want to release the tension they had?
He clicked his tongue, "Being honest.. I don't know. I guess in a way.. I like you, I hate to admit it but I do," he said.
Her eyes widened a little, Eren Jaeger liked her? She wasn't exactly upset.. she felt the same way and it was blatantly obvious at that point since she did lean into the kiss and she could feel the tension between them the last few weeks.
"E-Eren.." she whispered.
He looked at her, "What? I know you don't like me back," he mumbled.
She stuck out her hand to touch his face which was now dry, her fingers ran along his skin. "I do like you.."
He froze for a second, she was never one to tell a lie and by the way she spoke he could tell she was being truthful with him.
He turned his body to face her, their knees were now touching and tingles came from the touch. Eren's hand found its way to her cheek, he used the pad of his thumb to wipe away a few stray rain drops that laid on her skin.
Their faces leaned into one another, their lips connecting into a kiss.
Her hands found their way into Eren's damp brunette locks, pulling him down closer to her. Eren's hand found its way to her waist where he squeezed the flesh, some of the material of her shirt was damp and it made his hands wet.
"I want you.." Eren whispered, his breath uneven.
She looked into his eyes. "I want you more.."
His hands went towards her thighs, his fingers rubbing circles on the skin; it made her jolt a bit.
"You like that huh..?" he asked with a smirk forming on his features.
She playfully smacked his arm. "Oh shut up," she replied, her eyes rolling.
He smirked before moving his head to her neck, he pressed his lips against her skin; his lips were hot, almost feverish. They attacked her neck making her skin feel warm.
A soft moan escaped her mouth feeling his tongue glide against her sweet spot, he was about to bite down when a buzzing broke him out of his thoughts.
(Y/N) slightly groaned when she reached in her pocket for her phone. Eren leaned away and furrowed his brows, pondering as to who could be calling right now.
"Hello?" she said, chewing her bottom lip.
"(Y/N)!? Hello!? Dude I've been texting you for an hour! Where are you? It's storming like crazy outside and I knew you were out with Eren, is everything okay?"
She instantly knew it was Sasha.
She sighed, "Yeah! Yeah, I'm fine Sasha. Eren took me to his dorm, we actually got rained on. I'll be back soon," she replied, her eyes wandering towards Eren who seemed unfazed.
She could hear Sasha chewing on food. "Okay! Have fun! I'll see you soon," she said.
(Y/N) hung up and placed her phone down next to her leg. "Sorry about that," she said, rubbing the back of her neck.
Eren chuckled, "You're fine.. I think we should get back anyway, I don't want the janitor to come and find us here," he replied before standing up.
He held out his hand for her and she took it with a smile on her face, she shivered a bit since her clothes were still somewhat wet from being outside in the rain. Eren took notice of this and went to his locker.
"Hold on a sec," he said, making (Y/N) stop in her tracks.
She nodded as she watched him unlock his locker, he grabbed what seemed to be a hoodie. It had the University colors on it. He slammed his locker before locking it up and turning towards her.
"You should take this.. it's really cold and I don't want you getting sick," he said, holding out the fabric for her.
Her cheeks grew hot, but she just took the sweater from him. "Thank you.." she said, holding it close to her chest.
He smiled, "Of course! Now let me take you back to the dorms, it's the least I can do."
She smiled before following Eren out of the locker room.
-
The long walk back to (Y/N)'s dorm was quite fun, the two had encountered a few professors along the way and they had to hide in bathrooms to make sure they wouldn't get caught.
It was something (Y/N) wasn't used to, she was always staying out of trouble and she was seen as a good girl most of the time. Eren found that to be quite amusing, regarding the circumstances anyway.
He leaned against the wall that was next to her dorm door. "So uh.. tonight was something," he said, chuckling a bit.
(Y/N) giggled, "It definitely was.. but I had a lot of fun. Even if I'm freezing right now," she replied.
Eren looked at her, "I- uh.. I hope you know I meant what I said about liking you.. I really do and I want to be more than just a friend to you," he said, his cheeks slightly pink.
She looked at the ground before looking back up at Eren. "I meant what I said too.. I do like you, Eren."
"I mean.. by the way you moaned earlier.." he smirked.
She smacked his arm again. "Oh shut it! I'll kick your ass, but anyway.. I do want to have something more," she said, rocking on her heels.
Eren smiled, "Sounds good.. can I kiss you again?" he asked.
She nodded her head before leaning into his face again, Eren put his hands onto her shoulders giving them a small squeeze before pulling away.
"Kissing you hits different," he whispered before kissing her cheek.
Her cheeks were hot, "You're such a dork.. goodnight Eren!" she said, putting her hand on the knob of the door.
He chuckled, "Goodnight (Y/N)."
Eren walked back to his dorm with a giant grin on his face, he felt like he just won a game just now; but this time.. he won something special. (Y/N).

“Natural” - Chapter 6 - Embry Call x Reader
Tumblr media
New Introductions
I woke to the sun shining through my windows. I look at my phone to check the time.
9:00. I rub the sleepiness out of my eyes. I sit up in bed and recall the memories from last night. I look to my left, noticing the absence of Embry’s body from where it once was. My stomach sank a bit looking at the empty pillow.
I get up and walk over to my desk, hoping there would be another note from Embry. Looking down, I see that there is.
Good morning bean,
I had to go on patrol but by the time you wake up I should be off. Call me when you wake up. I love you. I’d like for you to come over today.
Love,
Em
I smile down at the note, placing it with the previous one, hoping to keep a collection of them all.
I walk down the stairs, grabbing some breakfast as I send Embry a text asking when to come over.
I go upstairs to get dressed and ready for the day when Embry texted me back.
“Come at 11, my mom can’t wait to see you :)”
I smile, send a quick response before tidying up the living room from last night’s game fiasco.
I figure it was best to bring something to Embry’s house, but it was too late to really make anything. Something from the grocery store would have to do, I guess.
I hop in my car and drive over to the store. I look around and decide to grab a fruit salad and a small cake. I check out at the register and head over to Embry’s.
I pull up in front of his house, texting him to let him know I was here.
As I unbuckle my seatbelt, I see his front door open and an excited Embry jogging over to my car.
I smile at his goofy grin as he opens my door so I can get out of my car.
“Hey there, bean.” He presses a kiss to my forehead, pulling me into his arms.
“Hey, Em. You’re in a good mood.” I look up at his beaming face.
“My mom is just really happy to see you, like super excited about it. This is the least amount of tension between us in a while.” He shrugs his shoulders.
“I’m excited to see her, too. I’m glad things are calm with you guys right now.” I lean up and kiss his cheek.
He gently grabs my hand, grabbing the stuff I brought with me in his other hand, and leads me into his house where I am welcomed by a warm Tiffany Call.
“(Y/N)! I missed you so much.” She cooed, pulling me into a heartwarming hug.
“Hi Mrs. Call, I missed you, too.” I smile into the hug.
“(Y/N), please call me Tiffany. You know that.” She laughs.
Embry and I sit down with her at the kitchen table.
“So are you happy to be back in Forks?” Tiffany smiles at me.
“I’m so happy.” I grin back.
“I’m so happy you’re back, Embry’s been so much happier since you’ve been back… Almost back to the old Embry.” She gives me a smile, this one hinting at some deeper sadness.
I gave her an understanding smile, glancing over at Embry’s awkward face.
“Yeah, I think all the guys are pretty thrilled to hang out again.”
“Yeah, I’m sure.” She says meekly.
“So, (Y/N) brought fruit salad. Maybe we should eat some?” Embry offers.
“Yeah.” Her spirits lift up.
“So, how have things been with you? How’s the souvenir shop?” I smile at her.
“It’s good, it’s quiet. It’s just crazy how many bear attacks there have been lately, so a lot of people have been coming out less. Overall, I still enjoy the peace and quiet, I love First Beach.” Her warm eyes looking into mine.
“It’s beautiful there, I can see why you love it.”
I ignore the mention of bear attacks, unsure of how much I had to avoid for Embry’s sake.
“Yeah, (Y/N) was pretty bummed to hear about the bear attacks, she loves hiking.” Embry remarks.
“I know, I remember. You guys used to do it all the time.” She smiles, thinking about our younger years.
“I wish I could still do it, maybe more in the winter.” I shrug with a soft smile.
“That would work. I can’t believe how old you guys are now.”
“It is nuts, huh?” Embry’s voice trails off.
“So, I hear you guys are finally together?” She smiles, reaching out to grab my hand across the table.
“Yeah.” I blush, smiling like an absolute dork.
I glance over at Embry’s blushing face, watching the corners of his soft lips curling into a beautiful smile.
“I’m so glad, I always knew you guys would be together.” She smiles, taking a piece of pineapple.
I eat a piece of honeydew, trying to contain my giggle from escaping my lips.
“Me too.” Embry smiled, causing my blush to only deepen.
We sat around, chatting for another hour or so before she had to go to her shift at the store.
“It was great to see you.” I smile, hugging her goodbye.
“Of course, you’re always welcome, honey.” She pulls me in tighter, before giving Embry a kiss on his head as a goodbye.
I smile and wave as she gets into her car and leaves, feeling Embry’s arm snake around my waist.
“It was so nice to see her again.” I look up at him smiling.
“It was, it was nice to see her happy instead of upset. She really loves you.”
“I love her, too. I do. I’m happy you guys had a calm moment between you two.” I kiss his cheek.
Embry pulls me back into his house, pulling me into yet another tight hug.
“Bean?”
“Yeah?”
“Can we maybe, cuddle in my bed?” He looks down at me with those big, brown eyes.
My heart fluttered in my chest every time his eyes melted into mine.
“Of course, Em. Lead the way.” His hand held mine, walking us into his room.
I look around, admiring how neat it was and how I imagined that it would be a bit more cluttered, especially since he was almost never home to clean it.
“Did you clean your room because I was coming over today?” I smirk at him.
“What?” A blush appears on his cheeks, causing me to giggle.
“That’s cute.” I walk over and sit on his bed.
“I think you’re pretty cute, actually.” He plops down next to me, pulling me into his lap.
“Oh, that so?” I raise an eyebrow at him.
“Very much so.” He presses a kiss to my nose.
It quickly became very apparent to the both of us that the way we were sitting was a bit more suggestive than we originally intended. I had my arms around his neck, straddling his lap. His arms holding my ribs.
After a moment of silence, a deep blush appeared upon his cheeks, mine mirroring his.
I leaned in, pressing a kiss to his soft lips. Surprisingly, he deepened it, allowing me to make out with him. His hands traveled a bit lower, holding my waist, and then eventually my hips.
I moved into him, bringing myself closer. I began to feel his… “excitement” growing.
After about a minute, Embry brought his hands back up to my waist, pulling away from the kiss.
“Sorry.” He chuckled.
“It’s okay. I understand.” I blush, laughing softly.
“I just, I’m trying really hard to take it slow. You just make it very difficult.” He licks his lips.
“I think it’s you who makes it difficult for me.” I tease, smiling at his sweet eyes.
He picks me up by my waist and places me next to him once more. He lays down on the bed, patting the spot next to him.
I lay down next to him, bringing myself closer to his chest, inhaling his scent.
“It’s nice to have you here, in my arms. I like feeling you so close to me.” He kisses the top of my head.
“It feels like home.” I smile into his chest.
He grabs his phone out of his pocket and begins to shuffle our shared playlist, causing me to smile further like an idiot.
All of a sudden, my thoughts circled back to last night.
“How was patrol? Did you get it?” I ask, looking up into his eyes.
He let out a frustrated sigh as he looked down at my face.
“No, she got away. Then Paul and Emmett got into it.” He pursed his lips together.
“Emmett?” I ask.
“Emmett Cullen. He came onto our land trying to catch the leech.”
“Was everyone okay?” I ask, a bit worried.
“Yeah, of course. Nothing bad. But we missed the redhead.”
“I’m sorry.” I give him a sad smile.
“We just don’t get why she keeps coming around, we have Bella protected at all times between the Cullens and us.”
“She’s after Bella?” I ask, more worried.
“Yeah. The shit that Edward gets her thrown into. Then Jake gets involved, which involves us.” He rolls his eyes.
“Damn. I’m sorry, Embry.” I look into those deep brown eyes again.
“It’s alright. We’ll be okay. I have another thing to fight for now. Just some more motivation to get rid of her quicker.” He kisses my forehead.
I blush at his words, realizing how real they truly are.
“What time is her graduation party tomorrow?” I ask, trying to lighten the subject.
“We should get there at like 7:30.” He smiles, appreciating the lighter mood.
“Do you have patrol tonight?” I ask.
“Yeah, I do. I’m gonna hang out with you the rest of the day, first of course.” He kisses my forehead, making me smile.
“Em?”
“Yeah?” He pulls back to look me in the eyes once again.
“Could you maybe, show me more like Paul said? You guys say you’re really strong and fast. I just… I wanna see. I need to know you’ll be okay.” I blush.
“Oh bean. I can show you. Maybe you can meet everyone in that form, just to get acquainted with it. We can start with Jake and Quil today if you’d like? And whoever else is hanging around at Sam’s.”
“Yeah, I’d like that. I wanna know that you guys are safe.”
“I understand. We can head over there. Just after I get to hold my girl a little bit longer.” He smirks, pulling me close again.
I couldn’t stop the heat from rushing to my cheeks when Embry called me his girl. I couldn’t stop the butterflies from fluttering throughout my stomach. I couldn’t stop the chills from running up my spine.
I felt his hands stroking through my hair for a few minutes, causing me to fall asleep.
I woke up not long after, looking around the room to remember where I was. I looked up at Embry’s sleeping face, and it brought a smile upon my own.
Damn, how could I get so lucky?
I took my phone out, snapping a picture of Embry, as he looked just so sweet.
“Whatcha doing there, babe?” He chuckles, waking up.
I guess my movement woke him up.
“You just look so cute.”
“Thank you, I still think you’re cuter. What time is it?” He asks, rubbing his eyes.
“A little after five.” I put my phone back in my pocket after checking the time.
“We should go to Sam’s. We’ll see who’s there to show you some stuff, then I’ll patrol from there.” He smiles, kissing my forehead before beginning to sit up.
“Okay.” I follow suit, grabbing my keys off his dresser.
We head over to my car, getting in and going on our merry way.
Upon our arrival to Sam’s house, Embry lets out a “whoop” to announce his arrival.
We walk in, only to be greeted with an excited Emily and some of the guys sitting at her kitchen table. I look around to see Paul, Quil, and Jared.
“Hey, (Y/N). Finally, another girl.” She smiles, letting out an exhale of relief.
“Hi Emily, it’s great to see you.” I smile back at her, returning the hug she approached me for.
“So boys, (Y/N) wants to see a little bit of us doing our thing, thanks to Paul.” He directs his gaze at Paul.
“Well, I think it’d be fun.” Paul grins.
“I guess so. You don’t believe we’re as cool as we say or something?” Quil teases.
“You caught me.” I smirk in his direction.
“Maybe Quil and Paul could wrestle for you. If it won’t scare you.” Jared teases.
“I imagine that might be a bit frightening. But I wanna know how it works, all of it. I wanna see what I’ve been hearing about.” I look down at my feet.
“Good idea, Jared. Instead, you and Paul can wrestle. Embry and I will stand there looking pretty, that way (Y/N) doesn’t piss her pants. She’s a scaredy-cat, you know.” He laughs.
“Oh I am so not.” I retaliate.
“Can you walk around your house in the dark yet?” Quil raises his eyebrows at me. “Shut up.” I hiss, laughing.
The boys all smile before heading outside, Emily following us.
“Don’t be scared, nobody is gonna hurt you. Okay?” Embry looks me in the eyes.
I nod and he presses a kiss to my cheek before he and the rest of the guys go behind the brush to strip down.
“I assume you’re used to all this?” I ask, turning to Emily.
“Oh yeah. It was nuts at first, but you get used to it. When they get into scuffles I used to get so scared. Now, I just wait for them to come ask me for food after.” She giggles.
I then heard shuffling in the bushes, and some snarls coming from behind them. They made their way out to the clearing.
I look around, trying to figure out who is who. I notice Embry immediately.
He walks over and nuzzles his head into my shoulder, causing me to smile.
“The dark silver one is Paul, Jared is the light brown and grey one with some grey on his face, and Quil is the one who looks like chocolate.” She smiles.
Just then, they ran past me. I felt the air whoosh around me, almost knocking me over.
I smiled, amazed at how fast they were.
“Paul and Jared might play around, wrestle a bit to show you.” She warns.
I nod, looking them in the eye, and then back at Embry and Quil as they walk over to Emily and I’s side. Quil standing to the left of Emily and Embry almost shielding me from any potential damage.
And that’s when Jared and Paul look at me and nod, before returning the same gesture to each other.
I heard a puff before seeing Paul fly at Jared. I heard the growls and snarls, felt the ground move from their enormous bodies.
I have to admit, my heart raced hearing it, let alone watching it. Embry must’ve noticed as he moved his head closer to my body, trying to comfort me.
I look at him, feeling safety wash over me. I nod my head at him and suddenly Paul and Jared stopped. He must’ve told them in their mental link to stop.
All four boys went back behind the trees again to shift back.
I look at Emily with wide eyes.
“Wow.” I say, in disbelief at just how huge they were. How fast, how strong.
“I know.” She smiles.
They all run back, Embry’s hands finding my waist faster than I could blink.
“So, you impressed yet?” Paul laughs.
“Yeah, I’ll say so.” I look at him, smirking.
“Bet it was more than you thought.” Quil nudges my shoulder.
“Yeah, I don’t know what I thought. Embry only showed me his wolf form, didn’t show me any of the extra stuff.” I chuckle.
“Well, I didn’t wanna overwhelm you.” He kisses the top of my head.
“You look like you handled it well.” Jared claps me on the back.
“Yeah, it was pretty cool.” I smile.
“Jesus, you’re so good with weird.” Embry shakes his head in disbelief.
“Well in my defense, you, Jake, and Quil have been my best friends since childhood. I had to be good with weird from the start.” I poke his side.
“Yeah, yeah.” Embry laughs into my ear.
“Okay, let’s get you boys something to eat before you go on patrol.” Emily ushers us inside.
“Can’t argue with that.” Quil laughs, running past me into the house.
Embry and I follow them all inside, his arm never leaving my waist.
“(Y/N) would you like anything to eat before they inhale it all?” Emily offers me, stirring the pot of pasta.
“Sure, just a little bit. Thank you.” I smile at her.
We all ate, hanging out and talking before Sam came through the door.
“Hello there, babe.” He says as he walks into Emily’s arms, leaving kisses all over her face.
Following Sam was a tired looking Jacob, Seth, and Leah. They all came in and began eating.
“Okay guys, get on out there it’s your turn.” Sam directs.
Almost immediately Embry, Quil, Jared, and Paul get up from the table. “I’ll see you tonight or tomorrow, okay? Leave your window open.” Embry says to me, kissing me on the forehead goodbye.
“Okay.” I smile at him.
They all rushed out of the house and disappeared into the treeline.
“Hey, Leah.” I smile.
“Hey. How’s it going?” She asks, taking a break from eating.
“Pretty good. What’re you up to tonight?” I ask.
“Not much. Got something in mind?” She turns to look at me.
“I just wanted to see if you’d wanna watch movies at my house.” I smile.
“Sure. Sounds good.”
I turn to Emily and offer to help her clean up dinner.
“You don’t have to.” She smiles, trying to make me sit down.
“No, I want to. You do this all the time, I should help you.” I get up anyway and walk over to the sink.
About an hour later, Leah comes back to my house with me.
We talk about the Sam and Emily thing a bit more, I try to comfort her as best as possible.
“It’s nothing that can be fixed, unless I imprint. God I would even take that just to make myself happy.” She sighs.
“Your person will come, and they’ll blow Sam out of the water.” I give her a soft smile.
“Thank you. It feels nice to talk to a girl for once.” She chuckles.
And that was it. Leah wasn’t one for too much talking, so we turned to the movies after that.
After two movies, she decides to head out and I go into my room, bidding my father a goodnight on the way.
I walk over to my window and leave it open as Embry requested before walking to my bed and laying down.
I send Jacob a meme I found on twitter about cars before dropping my phone on the nightstand next to my bed.
Before I knew it, I was passed out.
In the middle of my deep slumber, I heard someone outside my window. I initially panicked, only to realize that it was probably Embry. The fear of someone being outside my window at three in the morning subsided at the thought of him.
I walk over to the window, seeing his beautiful face looking back up at me. I smile down at him.
He quickly jumps into the tree by my window, and then into my window.
“Jeez Em, I didn’t realize you mastered parkour.” I laugh.
“Just for you, bean.” He laughs, hugging me hello.
I yawn, almost limp in Embry’s warm embrace.
“Let’s get you into bed.” He kisses the top of my head before picking me up and walking us back to my bed.
I nuzzle myself further into his warm chest.
“How was patrol?” I ask.
“Uneventful. That’s a good thing, though.” He chuckles, his voice raspy and riddled with sleepiness.
“That is a good thing.” I yawn again.
“I love you, bean.”
“I love you too, Em.”
I press a light kiss to his chest, to only be pulled closer. I smile before I once again enter a peaceful slumber.

“And there was only one bed” ft. Akiteru
fluff, fem!reader
~1237 words~
A/n: let's pretend akiteru and you work at a 9-5 job
masterlist
Akiteru looked to Y/n after seeing the singular bed in their shared hotel room. "I can call them to go and change our ro-"
"No it's fine, they're probably stuffed anyways." Y/n sighed as she put her bag on the floor, checking around the place. "Dang, I've never seen a shower like that before."
The two co-workers were on a company vacation which consisted of them staying at a hotel in their area for the night. Their boss, Kyou Yamasaki, thought of it as a "big sleepover" where they could carpool back to work in the morning.
Akiteru sat down on a spinning chair, resisting shutting his eyes and falling asleep right there. Yamasaki tired them all out from making them walk to the hotel from work.
Y/n looked over to Akiteru, motioning towards the bathroom. "Hey, I'm going to take a shower real quick, okay?" He nodded, his eyelids faltering. She sighed, leaning against the wall. "You know, if you're tired you can always just sleep in the bed-"
He opened his eyes slightly while he shook his head. "I need to shower anyways."
"Oh, well then I'll try not to keep you waiting." She smiled before leaving him alone.
Akiteru had known Y/n for a while, and they had gotten closer due to Yamasaki's antics. He's been wanting to know her better, and one could argue that a sleepover in the same bed would be a great way to do that.
He didn't really like the idea at first, but the more he thought about it, the more he played into the idea of Y/n's arms wrapped around his waist as he hid his face in her neck, her thigh hooked over his.
He stretched up at the sound of the water turning off, knowing that he would have to get up soon. Y/n quickly changed and brushed her teeth in the bathroom before stepping out. "Shower's ready," She stated as she went to go put her old clothes away.
Akiteru stepped into the shower, turning on the already-warm water and quickly rinsing himself off before getting ready for bed. He used the towel to dry his hair out of the best of his ability before going over to his bag.
Y/n was sitting down in the chair he previously sat on, scrolling through her phone. Once she noticed that he was there, she put it down and spun to face him. "Thanks for keeping the seat warm."
He chuckled. "It's one of my talents."
"So, do you want the bed?" Y/n asked.
"Well if I took it, then where would you go?" She lifted her legs up onto the chair. "You can't just sleep on a chair."
"I don't know, it's pretty comfy." She shrugged as she patted the seat. "I mean, it's still pretty from when your butt made out with it-"
"Y/n!" He shushed her as they both laughed.
"No but seriously, what are we going to do about the bed." They both looked at the queen-sized mattress.
"...Why don't we just share it then? It's big enough for both of us."
Akiteru shrugged. "Yeah, I guess that's fine."
"Okay, before we get into bed, do you drool and/or sleepwalk?" He shook his head. "Do you kick?" He shook it again. "Bite? Hit?"
"No, I don't do anything weird in my sleep. Do you?"
"No, I don't think so."
"Well then that's good." He got out his charger, plugging it into the outlet nearest to the bed. "Do you want to get in first? I have to get something really quickly."
"Oh, sure!" Y/n walked over to the bed and laid down on the left side, bringing her knees up slightly as she watched him.
Akiteru tried not to make eye contact with her as he got underneath the right side of the cover, turning to face the wall in front of him. "Good night."
"Good night, Aki." She sighed and closed  her eyes, her head resting against the back of her hand.
"It's cold in here, isn't it?" Akiteru noted as he turned around to face her.
"Yeah, I don't think their heater is working because of the amount of people here."
"Are you fine, or do I need to go ask if we can get som-" He put a hand on her elbow.
She hissed, taking it in between hers and warming it up. "I think you're the one who's not fine."
"No, I'm always like this." He lied, curling his toes. "You just seem very cold right now, and I don't think Yamasaki would be very happy if you came to work tomorrow with a cold."
She laughed, putting her hands back under her head. "It's not that cold in here."
"Here, if you're really that cold, I think I have something that you can-" She started getting up from her spot.
He grabbed her arm. "No, it's fine."
She stared at him for a while before laying back down on the bed. "Fine. But if you are ever actually cold, tell me."
"I'm sure I will." He said, chuckling. "Good night Y/n."
"Good night."
————
Akiteru squinted after seeing the sun blasting through the curtains, the strong air conditioning blowing the fabric apart. He hid his face in Y/n's chest, wrapping his arms around her.
Wait a minute- He felt her head resting on top of his and her arms wrapped around his waist. He decided to go back to sleep, dreading the awkwardness that would soon come.
Y/n let out a moan as she woke up, pressing closer to her pillow. Her eyes fluttered open once she realized her pillow was very much Akiteru-shaped. "Huh? Oh my- oh I'm so sorry!"
She tried to move away and give him some space, but the half-asleep man pulled her back to him. Y/n tapped his head repeatedly while she called out his name.
"What?" He feigned obliviousness as he moved away from her chest and laid on the pillow. He looked up at her. "What happened?"
"Y-you were sleeping on me," She became flustered and looked away. "Sorry about that."
"It's not your fault Y/n, it probably happened because of how cold it was."
"Yeah." She checked the time. "We have like 2 hours before work, do you want to start getting ready?"
"Let's just sleep in for a bit, we have some time." He turned to his side, waiting for her to return back to their previous position.
"Yeah, I guess you're right." She laid back down under the covers before flinching. "Jeez, it's so cold! You know what, you do that, I'm going to go get some breakfast."
Akiteru sat up, his elbows pointing outwards as he used his arms to support himself. "I can come with you if you want."
"No it's fine, I'll just go and bring some stuff back." She smiled, putting on some slippers. "And plus, Yamasaki might make us go back earlier if we're all down there."
He sighed. "That's true. Well then I'll see you soon?"
"Yep!" She smiled at him before leaving the room. He could hear her meeting up with someone else as they talked about their stay.
Akiteru ran his hands through his hair as he laid back down, not able to fall back asleep.

i just wanna be with you

freak snowstorm in your hometown keeps you trapped in the airport
future fic!!!
(warnings: cursing, no editing)
It hardly ever snowed in your hometown, like you couldn’t even remember the last time there was a white Christmas, you were that young. So of course, the year you and Rafe decided to fly there for Christmas, it snowed. Hard.
The flight was early on Christmas Day, you and Rafe left your apartment at 3 a.m. to get to the Jackson airport and through the busy airport for your flight at 6:30. He made the coffee and you loaded the car, both sleepy.
Rafe picked the music, playing his hype playlist softly to stay awake while you dozed in and out of sleep in the passenger seat. There was no one on the road until you got closer to the airport.
“Babe,” he called out softly, “almost there.”
You picked your head up and saw the parking garages coming up in the distance, so you sat up and started putting your shoes back on and gathering your stuff. When he parked and got a tag, you followed after him carrying your duffle bag in one hand, his hand clasped in your other.
He’d made good time, and the airport was still fairly quiet. Your gate was far from the entrance you’d parked near, so the two of you speedwalked, still sipping the to-go cups of coffee Rafe made at home.
You’d just made it to security when you drank the last bit, and both of you threw the cups away before walking through. They let you through pretty quickly, and you were back on your way, this time him carrying both duffle bags while you handled the booksacks.
“You know,” Rafe spoke for the first time since getting out of the car, “I haven’t been at an airport in years.”
You furrowed your eyebrows, “I thought your family was rich. Even with a private plane you need an airport right?”
“Ward has an airstrip.”
“Holy shit.”
He laughed humorlessly, “Yeah.”
“Well, my parents usually drive, but I kinda hate it. I’d much rather just fly.”
“How long is the drive?” he asked.
“Seven hours.”
“Jesus Christ,” he whistled lowly, “they drive it every time?”
“My father prefers it.”
Rafe snorted, “Not for me.”
“Me neither.”
By the time the two of you reached your gate, there were a few people sitting around, phones and laptops plugged into various outlets. Rafe glanced around before finding two chairs alone and nodded, “Wanna sit over there?”
“Sure.”
He led you over and you leaned onto his shoulder. You could hear the smile in his voice when he asked, “Gonna take a nap?”
“Maybe.”
“You have about 45 minutes until it’s time to go.”
“Wake me up in 30,” you mumbled, breathing evening out.
It couldn’t have been 30 minutes when he shook you awake. Blinking at him, confused, glanced at your watch. He was frowning, “Flight’s delayed.”
“Huh?”
“It’s snowing at the other airport pretty bad. And it’s supposed to be just as bad when we land.”
“Did they say when we could go?”
“It’s supposed to clear up after like an hour and a half or so.”
“So we’re delayed that long?”
He sighed and nodded, “I’m afraid so, sorry sweetheart.”
“It’s okay, nothing we can do. I’ll call my mom.”
Rafe frowned, “Want me to? Since it’s technically my fault.”
“What? You control the weather now? Kinda sick.”
“No,” he laughed softly, “we had to wait so long so that I could finish at work.”
“Rafe, there literally hasn’t been snow there in years. There was no way you could’ve predicted this, surely you don’t actually think you’re at fault.”
With an embarrassed shrug, you realized that he actually did. Before you could say anything, he told you, “You were ready to leave like a week ago. You should’ve just gone.”
“To leave you to fly alone when I know you don’t like it the most.”
“I’m a big boy.”
“I know,” you sassed, “but I want to be there for you.”
“Well,” he paused, “you are. And I’m sorry this isn’t working out.”
You shrugged, “Shit happens. Guess it isn’t meant to be.”
He suddenly looked determined, “It is. We’ll get there even if we have to change flights and rent a car and drive.”
“Babe, neither of us knows how to drive in snow,” you reminded him with a laugh.
“We’ll figure it out,” he told you, standing to go to the ticket counter. Before he could walk away, you grabbed his sleeve, pulling him back with a laugh.
“I promise it’s okay. Even if we spend most of Christmas at this stupid airport, at least I’m spending it with you.”
“That’s,” he sighed, “like I’m glad you aren’t mad at me, but that’s not fair to you.”
“To us,” you corrected, “you’re also missing Christmas with your family.”
Rafe’s eyes widened and his lips pressed together. You weren’t entirely sure what emotions were crossing his face, but they looked good. Complicated, but positive.
You let him work through it quietly, holding his hand, and eventually, he spoke up, “I guess you’re right.”
“No need to guess,” you told him cheerfully, dialing your mom’s number. She didn’t answer.
-
There was no progress an hour later, and you were starting to wake up finally. Rafe, on the other hand, was fading fast. His head kept drooping, falling onto your shoulder before jerking back up.
You reached up to run a hand through his hair and he pushed into it. With a smile, you scratched his scalp and he sighed quietly, eyes shutting fully. Finals week and grading had tired your poor boyfriend out completely, so you deep down hoped the flight would stay delayed so he could get some sleep.
He slept for an hour and a half, no progress made, though the gate across from you had emptied and filled twice in the time yours had stayed packed. There were people stretched out across the floor, and the flight attendants were even starting to look a little squirmy.
Rafe jolted up, forehead clipping your chin, and hissed, rubbing over his forehead with a confused look on his face. You laughed, holding your chin, “Good morning, handsome.”
“Hey,” he answered, smiling sleepily.
“How was your nap?”
With a hum, he answered, “Good. What time is it?”
“9:00.”
His eyebrows shot up, “And we’re still not on a plane, huh?”
“We are not. Are you hungry?”
“Hmm,” he tapped his chin, “a little bit, yeah.”
“There’s a sandwich place a little bit down. If you’ll save seats I’ll go grab us each one?”
Rafe nodded and reached for his back pocket to get his wallet. You waved it away and he frowned, “Why not?”
“I can pay.”
“But I want to pay,” he argued.
Rolling your eyes, you bent down and kissed his forehead, “Let it be part of your Christmas gift.” And before he could answer, you were gone. The stand had breakfast sandwiches and coffee, so you bought two of each.
Rafe had stretched out when you left, his legs taking up your seat so no one would sit down. You snorted and he grinned, “Saved your seat.”
“You couldn’t have just put my booksack on it?”
“Someone could move the booksack, moving my legs is a lot more difficult.”
You hummed, playing along, “They are pretty hairy, I wouldn’t touch them either.”
Rafe smirked, “You sure about that?”
Shoving the sandwich in his face, you nudged his legs away and sat back down. Rafe took it and one of the coffees. The two of you started eating in silence until he made a noise to get your attention, “Did your mom ever call you back?”
“Nope,” you popped the p.
“So she thinks we’re in the air right now?”
“Most likely.”
“Rough. Hopefully she hears my message before dad drives to the airport to pick us up.”
-
Another hour passed, and your mom answered finally. She sounded frustrated, and you felt bad, but there wasn’t much you could do. Rafe also felt bad, he’d gone kinda quiet, and you felt extra bad.
“It’s going to be fine,” you reassured, squeezing his hand.
“We still have a four hour flight, babe.”
“Yeah, but we’re going back, it’s only like 8 there, so it’ll be fine!”
Rafe unclenched his jaw, “I guess you’re right.”
You shook your head, “What’s up with all this guessing today?”
He snorted, and pushed your head away, “Yeah yeah, leave me alone.”
Right as you started to respond, a very relieved-sounding flight attendant announced that the plane was ready to board. Rafe hopped up and held his hand out to help you up. He grabbed both of your bags, “If you go throw the trash away, I’ll go get in line.”
Texting your mom that the plane was finally boarding, you threw the cups and wrappers away before joining Rafe in line. Even when the plane was full, they still didn’t have a takeoff time, so you settled in, looking out the window next to you.
Rafe sighed and you turned, “What’s up now?”
“This is all going wrong.”
“I mean it’s not that big of a deal.”
Shutting his eyes, he told you, “It is. I had plans.”
“Plans?”
“Yes.”
You waited a few seconds for him to elaborate, and when he didn’t, you nudged him with your elbow, “Plans?”
“I said yes.”
He was smirking, and you rolled your eyes with a huff, “Stop messing with me, Cameron.”
“Never.”
“Bro,” you groaned, “why can’t you just tell me.”
“Bro, I’m not ruining this for myself.”
“Ruining what?”
He shrugged, “Christmas.”
“Ah yes, Rafe Cameron who notoriously controls the weather, ruins Christmas for us all.”
Rolling his eyes, Rafe chose not to respond, and pulled a book out of his booksack.
“Oh are you ignoring me now?” you asked, poking him.
“Until the caffeine wears off, I’m ignoring you.”
“Rude.”
“You’re rude.”
The lady on the other side of Rafe sighed loudly, ending your giggling and Rafe elbowing you. Biting your lip to hold in your laughs, you grabbed his hand when he tried to poke your side where you were ticklish.
“Asshole,” you whispered, holding his hand as tightly as possible while he fought against you.
“Me? Never,” he answered, shaking his hand free and poking you in the side.
You arched away, whacking your head on the wall next to you. With a groan, you rubbed your forehead, “Fucking ouch.”
He laughed, reaching forward to grab your head, “Watch it, don’t want to give yourself a concussion. Then you’ll be ruining Christmas too.”
“Neither of us are ruining Christmas.”
“Ruining my Christmas,” he responded cryptically.
You tried, “All I want for Christmas is you?”
“No, Mariah. You want to see your family.” You opened your mouth, and he cut you off, “And don’t say you’re my family, I know that, but the rest of your family.”
“Well,” you answered weakly, “as long as you know.”
“Was trying to make it more official,” he muttered, but you heard him.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“Something,” you argued back.
He mimed zipping his lips, and you sighed, “Fine, be that way.”
“I will.”
And before you could say anything else, the flight attendant came over the speaker and started the pre-flight spiel. You sighed in relief, sending your mom a quick text that you were finally about to take off.
By the time the plane took off, you’d forgotten about Rafe’s weird behavior. Happy to finally be flying and not sitting in an airport.

February 2019
“For the last time Mary, no you can’t come!” Frank exasperatedly groaned as Mary once more asked him the question she’d been pecking his head with since dinner the previous day.
“Why not?”
“Because first off you have school and second off this is a medical appointment for Fliss.” He shook his head. “Not a day out!”
“But you’re going…” “Yeah because it’s my baby!” He looked at her, shaking his head “Why am I even explaining this to you? You’re going to school, end of discussion.”
Mary scowled at him and folder her arms. “That is so unfair.”
“Yeah well, so is life. Get used to it.”
“I only want to see the baby.” Mary said quietly, giving a little sigh. Frank paused, his coffee mug held a few inches from his mouth as he considered her for a second before he smiled softly.
“Me too Stack, I can’t wait.” He took a sip of his drink. “Look, I know you’re excited, we all are but you still can’t come.”
“Can’t come where?” Fliss asked, yawning as she walked into the kitchen, reaching into the cupboard for the waffles.
“The scan.” Frank took the packet off her and slid the plate of already toasted ones over to her. She grinned at him and took a huge bite of one.
“Sorry kiddo, but we’ll make sure we bring you a photo back.” she looked at Mary, before she turned and opened the fridge, pulling out the apple juice. Frank watched as she poured a large glass before she drained it in one. “What?” she frowned, “I’m thirsty”
“You hate apple juice.” Mary’s eyebrows raised a little.
Fliss glanced at Mary, then to the bottle on the side, then the empty glass in her hand “Huh…guess the baby doesn’t.” she mused.
“You feeling ok?” Frank asked, reaching out to curl an arm round her waist and no sooner had his fingers brushed her skin Thor let out a low, rumbling growl. Frank groaned and stared at the dog. “Seriously, pal? Still?”
“I don’t know what’s got into him.” Fliss shook her head, studying the dog as his lip curled back, exposing his sharp, bright white teeth. “I know he’s been protective over me in the past, but not with you.”
“It’s your hormones.” Mary supplied, as both Frank and Fliss turned their heads to her. “I googled it when he growled at Frank last night to see why he’s been doing it for so long and in the first three months you get all these hormones flooding your system and that’s why you get sick and tired because you’re not used to them. Some people say that dogs and pets can also sense it and it can affect them too until they understand it’s normal.” Frank blinked as besides him Fliss gave a chuckle “Mary, you’re a little brainbox.”
“It’s all on the internet.” Mary shrugged. “I was curious. According to one vet site that I looked on it can make female animals think they are pregnant too and the males feel like they have to protect their person.” “Well he needs to quit.” Frank looked at Thor. “Or he’ll be sleeping outside, predicted heavy rainfall or not.” Fliss narrowed her eyes at Frank and he shrugged. “What? Isn’t he supposed to be the God of Thunder, or should that be the Dog of Thunder…”
Mary let out a snort as Fliss glared at him. “You wouldn’t dare.” “Nope, he wouldn’t.” Mary grinned “When Fred was new he used to tell me he was gonna kick him out all the time.” “He shredded the sofa.” Frank looked at her.
“He was a baby.” Mary said, swallowing the last of her toast.
“Whatever. You done?”
“Yeah.”
“Good, go get your stuff I’ll walk you down to the bus stop.”
“I can go on my own…” Mary retorted.
“Did I ask for your opinion?”
“No.”
“Exactly.” Frank looked at her.  “Make sure you get your jacket, it’s a little cold out.”
With a groan Mary pushed off her chair, carried her empty plate to the sink where she placed it inside and shuffled off. Fliss moved to put it in the dishwasher and when she straightened up, Frank looped his arms round her from behind, chin resting on her shoulder.
“Is it wrong that I’m already hoping Bean is a boy?” Frank sighed, his hand gently splaying over Fliss’ stomach, the pair of them ignoring the thunder-like growl coming from the very aptly named dog who was sat eyeing Frank beadily.
Fliss laughed, her hand falling on top of his. “Not quite sure you’ll cope with three girls, huh?”
“I’ll have lost all my hair by the time I’m 40.”
“You know, that’s only like two years away.” Fliss grinned, turning in his arms.
“Err, two years and a month, actually.” He narrowed his eyes at her playfully.
“Details.” She grinned as he placed a soft kiss to her lips, Thor’s growl growing even louder.
“Right, seriously?” He broke away to look at the dog who stared at him, Fliss’ laughter growing louder. The dog’s lip once more curled up in a snarl before he looked at Fliss when she spoke to him sternly.
“Thor, no.”
He stopped immediately, his tail wagging.
“I can’t cope with this for another six months every time I wanna touch you.” Frank wined and Fliss pondered something for a second.
“The Vet is coming to the yard today to do the routine visits. I’ll take him up there his afternoon, see if he has any advice.” She shrugged.
Frank nodded. “Ok.”
At that point Mary came back, her jacket on and her bag over her shoulder. “Ready.”
“Have a good day.” Fliss called as the two of them, headed to the door, Frank picking up his dark blue jacket as he went, Thor ambling behind.
“Oh, so now you’re my friend.” Frank mumbled, and the dog simply wagged his tail in response as Frank looked back at Fliss “It’s like he has a split personality!”
Fliss grinned as Frank shook his head once more and spoke to Thor as they headed out into the chilly morning sun.
“Fickle bastard.”
********* “Good morning!”  Frank and Fliss both looked up as a woman in her mid to late forties swept into the consultation room, smiling at them both. “Miss Gallagher?”
“Yeah.” Fliss nodded.
“Hi I’m Dr Kent.” she smiled, “And you’re Dad I assume?” She turned to Frank.
“Sure am.” Frank smiled at her.
“Nice to meet you Mr…”
“Adler, please, call me Frank.” He smiled, shaking the woman’s hand.
“Ok so, I gather this is your first scan?”
Fliss nodded.
“And your notes say you estimate between 11 to 13 weeks is that correct?”
“Yeah.” Fliss nodded.
“Right, just a few questions and we’ll get on with it. How have you been? Is there anything worrying you?”
“Not really, I mean my morning sickness seems to come in waves.” Fliss shrugged “Some days I’m okay, some days I’m a little off colour for a few hours and then others it’s like full twenty-four hour sickness”
“Are you managing to keep hydrated?”
“Mostly” she nodded.
“Any trouble sleeping?” “No.” Fliss shook her head as Frank snorted.
“It’s keeping her awake that’s the issue.”
Fliss glared at him as the Doctor laughed. “Yes, tiredness is common in the first few months especially but you should feel most of this ease off between 16 to 20 weeks…at which point I hate to say it but you trade it for a whole other set of stuff.” “Great.” Fliss grumbled.
Doctor Kent smiled sympathetically and then clapped her hands together. “Right, you ready to see Baby…oh, is it Gallagher or Adler, or-”
“Adler.” both Frank and Fliss said at the same time. The both looked at one another, neither of them had discussed that at all, and they both gave a gentle as the Doctor nodded, switching on the machine.
“Ok, just lift your top up…yup, just like that and…this is gonna feel cold ok?” she asked, squeezing the gel onto Fliss’ stomach. Grabbing the wand she pressed it onto her belly, moving it around until she stopped and smiled, as the sound of their baby’s heartbeat suddenly hit their ears.
“Here we go.” The Doctor smiled, turning the screen to face them allowing both Frank, and Fliss to see their baby for the first time.
“Oh Frankie, look.” Fliss whispered, her head turned towards the screen as Frank took her hand in his, his gaze completely focussed on the shape. You could clearly make out it was a tiny human. A head, two arms, two legs. Frank felt his eyes mist over instantly as he saw his baby on the screen in front of him, somehow making all this seem so much more real. He could see it! He could hear it!
He looked at Fliss as she turned to face him, a dazed smile spreading across his face as he raised her hand to his lips, pressing a kiss to the place just underneath where their fingers were joined.
“Everything is perfect.” The Doctor spoke “I can’t see any abnormalities at all. Your baby is absolutely fine and healthy.”
Fliss let out the breath she had been holding and Frank squeezed her hand. They were through the most dangerous part and their baby was fine, it was all going to be perfectly fine.
And he couldn’t be more happy or relived.
“I estimate from this that you’re nearer thirteen weeks than eleven but it’s never exact.”  The Doctor continued. “So I would predict a due date of…” she tapped at the keyboard and smiled at them both “21st August.”
She wiped Fliss’ stomach clean, allowing her to move her top back down before she stood up.
“You have any questions for me?” “Oh, erm…when am I likely to start showing?” Fliss asked. “I mean I’ve been putting on a bit of weight I know that as my jeans are a little tight but I can’t see much of a difference other than the fact it looks like-“
“There is nothing to be concerned about.” The doctor shook her head, smiling. “Everyone is different. Your lifestyle, muscle mass, weight are all contributing factors. Try not to worry about it too much, your baby is growing correctly and you’ll notice soon enough.”
Fliss pouted and Frank had to laugh. He knew what she was grumbling about. She’d complained the other day that her pants wouldn’t fasten and she was stood in front of the mirror moaning that it didn’t even look like a bump merely like she’d eaten a few too many pizzas. When Frank had pointed out she had been eating like a pig in all fairness, mainly chomping through McDonald’s fries, ready-made toasting waffles and apples like they were going out of fashion, she’d thrown a pillow at his head whilst he had run from the room laughing.
“I’ll just get sort you a copy of the photo and some information about the Lamaze classes and everything else and then you can be on your way. Congratulations.” The doctor smiled, as she headed for the door.
“Thirteen weeks.” Frank looked at Fliss as she up “That confirms it’s definitely a made in Boston Bean”
Fliss laughed as he stood up, kissing her cheek as he went, the pair of them stopping as her stomach let out a huge growl. Frank looked at her, his eyebrow raised before his hand fell to her stomach.
“Is Bean hungry?” “So is Mumma.” she grinned.
“Well that goes without saying.” he teased.
“Hey I’m cooking another person here, pal, it’s hungry work….oh, can we go to the Waffle house? I could murder a chocolate and strawberries special. And apple juice.” “We can go wherever you want.” he smiled. “I’m yours for the entire day.”
“Even H&M?”
Frank hesitated before he groaned “Fine.” He looked at her before he grinned cheekily “You do need some new jeans after all…” “Bastard!” she snorted, slapping his arm and he gave a laugh.
***** Frank parked the truck up and climbed out to shove a couple of bucks in the meter. When he came back he looked at Fliss who was leaning on the door, arms folded.
“You do this in purpose?”
“What?” He frowned.
She nodded to the store he had managed to park outside, and he turned to see he’d inadvertently picked a spot outside a little independent baby boutique called Bloomers.
“Fuck, no!” he laughed and Fliss gave him a grin as he took her hand. They both turned to head towards the Waffle place but Fliss hesitated as she looked through the window of the shop. Frank waited for her, a soft smile on his face. He’d been itching to buy the baby something but Fliss had point blank refused to allow him or anyone else to do so until they had the confirmation from the scan to tell her everything was okay. She’d confided in Frank that she didn’t want to edge her bets, she felt that everything was just going too perfect for them and she was waiting for something to come along and fuck it up.
Frank had tried to reason with her, tell her that she was worrying about nothing but she’d gotten herself so worked up that in the end it had been easier to appease her, but now…well, she held that confirmation that it was all ok in a little black and white photo in her purse. Their baby was fine, healthy and strong and…fuck, they were gonna be the proud parents to a tiny baby person in another six months or so.
“You wanna go in?” he asked. She turned to him with a grin and nodded.
Frank held the door open for her and they walked into the little boutique, the pair of them stopping still as they looked around. There was so much baby stuff, Frank started to feel a little overwhelmed and suddenly thrown back 9 years or so to when he had been in a similar shop with Diane when she’d been preparing to have Mary.
It struck him then how the two situations couldn’t have been more different. For starters they had the support of family behind them right from the off. Bill and Verity had been over the moon when they had found out Fliss was expecting, even if it had come as a bit of a surprise. More so because they hadn't been planning on revealing their news quite the way it came out.  They'd agreed that they would announce their engagement first and get Christmas out of the way, for no particular reason really other than Fliss' brother would be over for New Years and they could tell the family together once they had broken the news to Mary first.
But, well, best laid plans and all that…
“Oh Lissy…” Verity gushed, tears in her eyes as she looked at Fliss’ ring “I’m so happy for you…”
“Thanks Mum!” Fliss smiled, her own tears spilling own her cheeks as Bill shook Frank’s hand furiously, before pulling him in for a manly hug.
“Thank you.” Bill muttered into his ear, so that no one could hear him. “Thank you for wanting to look after her.”
“Always.” Frank nodded as the man stepped back, smiling at him.
“Well, we need to crack that champagne open that we bought.” Verity pulled back.
“We have one in the fridge already.” Frank smiled. “We’ll save yours for later on with dinner.”
The champagne had been shared, Fliss having a small glass which she secretly topped up with a little lemonade so as not to spark too much suspicion, Mary also having a flute of fizzy apple juice before they settled down, exchanged gifts and then sat at the table for dinner. And all was going so well until Bill’s sharp eyes noticed Fliss wasn’t drinking wine.
“I’ve got a bit of a headache.” Fliss said, when he quizzed her about it, but even as she spoke she felt her cheeks flush.
“Right, you’re not pregnant then?” Bill snorted at his own joke.
“Oh Bill, stop it!” Verity nudged him, shaking her head.
Frank felt his neck beginning to warm as he glanced at Fliss, the pair of them trying to brush it off by smiling, but Bill’s eyes widened as he observed the pair of them and his mouth fell open “Jesus Christ you are.”
“What are you talking about?” Verity snorted “Of course she’s…” she trailed off as Fliss locked eyes with her and gave a sigh.
“We didn’t’ want to tell you yet, not until Steve was here and we’d spoken to Mary.”
“You’re having a baby?” Mary looked at Fliss, her eyes wide “Frank’s baby?”
“Well who else’s would it be?” Frank looked at Mary. She narrowed her eyes at him and he shook his head “We wanted to tell you first Stack, but we we’re gonna wait until after Christmas and we’d had a few days ourselves to get used to the idea...” “Few days?” Verity whispered and Fliss glanced at her mum whose hand had flown to her mouth, her eyes brimming with tears “When did you find out?”
“Yesterday morning.” Fliss said softly. “I didn’t tell Frank until the evening.”
“I’m sorry Titch…” Bill spluttered, his eyes also misting over said, “I didn’t for one second think you actually would be…”
With that he pushed his chair back and strode round to the other side of the table, Fliss rising to her feet to greet him in one of his famous bear hugs as he kissed her cheek before she turned to her mum who embraced her gently, sniffling as she did so.
When Verity released Fliss, she turned to Frank who was currently having his own back slapped once again by Bill before he turned just in time to see Mary was stood on her chair, but before he could tell her to sit down she’d launched herself at him.
“Oh my God this is so cool!” she said as Frank chuckled, catching her and then adjusting his arms so she was safely held “A baby?”
“Yeah…”
She turned to Fliss who moved towards the two of them, Frank shifting slightly as Mary leaned back in his arms to place hers round Fliss’ neck before he smiled at his girl as she turned back to her parents.
“We know it might be a bit sudden.” She began, her hands wringing together like they always did when she was a bit nervous. “And no it wasn’t planned- my bad, and yes, maybe we should have been married first but we’re happy and excited and…”
“Basically I gave her a diamond, she gave me a positive pregnancy test in return.” Frank kissed her cheek, cutting her ramblings off because he could tell she was spiralling. And there was no need to. Not one person in the room had reacted badly to their news.
“Fair swap I suppose.” Bill shrugged, his eyes shining. “No, it’s great news…it really…”
He trailed off shrugging, unable to find anything else to say. There was a moment’s silence before Mary let out a chuckle as she leaned back in Frank’s arms to look at him, her hands squishing his cheeks.
This is the best Christmas EVER!”
Frank had been overwhelmed with how much love and joy had filled the room for something that was barely the size of a bean at that point. He’d called his mother later on in the evening as Fliss had said it was only fair and to his surprised she’d sounded quite emotional when he told her, a stark contrast to how she’d received the news of Diane’s pregnancy. But then, as Frank had said to Fliss later on as they lay in bed, the Evelyn he was getting to know now was certainly different in his eyes to the woman she had been back then. Fliss had made a good point that it probably wasn’t completely down to Evelyn changing per-say, but also how he was viewing her as well.
But, then, how could things not be different after everything they had been through?
He glanced over as Fliss tugged on his hand and began to lead him over to the various displays of clothing. He tossed a glance at one of the strollers that was in the middle of the store on a slightly raised plinth, doing a double take when he saw the price tag.
“How much?” he spluttered and Fliss turned to look at him, then the offending item and gave a soft laugh
“Yeah, they’re not cheap…but we don’t need to worry about that yet, or cribs and stuff. To be fair we should probably be more concerned with where we’re gonna live.”
“Yeah I know.” Frank took a deep breath.
“Hey.” Fliss looked at him. “Frank it’s not a problem…” “Yeah you said.” His tone was a little brusque and she frowned.
“What’s the matter?”
“I just don’t like the idea of them not having their own room. I did that with Mary and I want this to be right.” “Frank, it’s not a big deal.” Fliss smiled “Mary turned out ok and Bean will be in our room for a while anyway, we have plenty of time.” “I know but I’d still rather be able to move beforehand if we can.” he shrugged.
“Why?” She pressed.
“Because I want them to have a Nursery.” he pressed, flushing slightly “I’d like to decorate one for them…stuff I should have done for Mary.”
“And you can.” Fliss reached up to cup his cheek “Frank, it isn’t the be all and end all though. No one’s gonna think any less of you if there isn’t one ready and waiting. Certainly not my parents.” “Who says that’s what…” he trailed off when she shot him a knowing look and he sighed “Busted?” “Well and truly.”
“I know you’re right.” He chewed the inside of his cheek, “But it can’t hurt to give the landlord a call and explain can it? You never know, he might be happy to let us out of our lease early. It was me that pushed for a long term one after all.”
Fliss shrugged “Nope, you’re right it can’t hurt…” she stopped as something caught her eye and she started laughing “Oh my god, Frankie look…”
She picked up a baby grow that was a pale, lemon yellow colour with a white sailboat on the front. “A mini sailor.”
Frank snorted. “If you get that we need one with a horse on the front to balance it out, seeing as we don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet.” “Hey, girls can sail and boys can ride.” Fliss narrowed her eyes “Stop being sexist.”
At that he let out a loud laugh, a really loud laugh, which caused the assistant to look over at them both.
“I’m getting it.” Fliss nodded, definitively, picking it up.
“I’ll buy it.” Frank smiled gently, reaching for it.
“Why?”
“Fliss, don’t start! Let me buy my baby’s first stuff, please.” She cocked her head to one side, and he thought she was going to argue again but then that gorgeous smile spread across her face and she handed it to him.
“You’re such a softie.” She leaned up to give him a gentle kiss. They browsed for a bit longer, before her stomach let out another growl and Frank decided enough was enough. He gently began to lead her over to the till when she pulled on his hand again and grinned as she picked up a pair of tiny white Converse trainers
“They match Mary’s.”
“Yeah, and at almost thirty bucks they can stay matching on the shelf.” He grumbled.
“Bean needs them.”
“No, Bean doesn’t need them.” He rolled his eyes.
“Does.” Fliss bat her eyelashes at him as her hand fell to her stomach, gently rubbing over her T-shirt.
“Is this how it’s gonna be? Basically every time I say no to something you’re gonna play this card?” he looked at her, his eyebrow raising.
“Pretty much.” she nodded.
“Fucks sake.”  He shook his head before he let out an annoyed chuckle, “Fine, get the damned sneakers.”
*****
After a bite to eat they headed home to get Thor and took him up to the yard. Before the Vet started his routine examinations of the horses, Fliss asked if there was anything they could do to make Thor more comfortable. After seeing first-hand what they were trying to describe when Frank had dropped an arm round her shoulder, the Vet had suggested they could give the dog a mild sedative. But when Frank had realised that this would make him dopey, he had refused almost as vehemently as Fliss had. He knew it wasn’t Thor’s fault he was feeling the way he was, plus if Frank was honest, he liked the way he knew the dog would protect Fliss. Okay so she didn’t need it at home but it was comforting to know when he wasn’t there that she was safe.
“Other than that it’s a case of riding it out.”  Scott, the vet shrugged. “Our dog was a little off for about 4 months when my wife was expecting our first. For our second and third, well, he couldn’t care less.”
Frank looked at Fliss. “So he only needs a kennel for a few weeks then.” “My dog is NOT living in a kennel.” Fliss shot over her shoulder as she followed the vet over to the first stable which was Cap’s, Thor trotting behind her as always. “Oh, can you grab me a water from the office?” “Sure.” Frank nodded as Fliss carried on after the vet who entered the stall and Cap immediately looked at him suspiciously.
“He remembers from last year.” Scott chuckled and Fliss let out a snort.
“Probably. I wish he’d take a leaf out of Heidi’s books. She’s such a good girl for stuff like this.” Fliss slipped the halter over Cap’s head, gently stroking his nose as the vet felt all down his legs and listened to his heart. By the time Frank reappeared the Vet was checking Cap’s eyes then his ears and Fliss had a hold of the rope connected to his halter, wrapped once around his nose to keep control of him.
“Stop…being…an…ass…” She said as he jerked his head up again, attempting to get out of the vet’s reach. “Come on Cap…” She stroked his nose softly and he lowered his head, giving her a filthy look as he did so. The Vet then managed to check his teeth which were fine and moved back to his bag to retrieve his kit for the annual vaccination shot.
“Erm…” Scott looked at Fliss. “I’m not sure it’s wise you being here if he’s gonna go mad like he did last year.” His eyes flicked down to her stomach. Fliss hesitated and Frank could see she was about to tell the Vet where to get off when he cut in.
“Honey, he’s right.”
She turned to face him, glaring at him and he met her stare with one of his own, completely unperturbed and unwilling to back down. When she realised this she rolled her eyes.
“Fine, I’ll get Joanne.” She grumbled, opening the stable door and stalking past him.
Frank let out a noise that was halfway between a sigh and a groan. Scott chuckled a little and looked at him. “She’ll get used to it. Not being able to do certain things, I mean.” Frank snorted “I’m not so sure. She’s so damned headstrong…that’s why she likes him so much.” he nodded to the black and white horse in question “Kindred spirits.” A couple of minutes later Fliss came back, Joanne following and the blonde girl headed into the stall, taking hold of the rope.
“We may as well go.” Fliss turned to Frank. He frowned.
“You don’t want to stay?” “What’s the point, I’m not needed.” Her tone was clipped and Frank exchanged a look with Joanne who rolled her eyes
“Fliss, no one said that. You just you need to be a little bit more careful…” Joanne tried to appease her but Fliss was having none of it. “I can be careful at home.” She snapped and then turned to Frank “Can we go?”
“Sure.” Frank shrugged.
“Call me if there’s anything I need to know, otherwise I’ll see you tomorrow.” Fliss said without looking at Joanne as she left.
Frank shot Joanne an apologetic look as he followed Fliss out of the barn and towards the truck.
“Was that really necessary?” he asked.
“Was what necessary?” she yanked the door to the truck open to let Thor hop into the back.
“You know full well what.” he looked at her as she slammed the door shut and move to the passenger one. “There was no need to speak to Joanne like that, she didn’t do anything wrong. In fact, no one did anything wrong.”
“Other than telling me I can’t do my job.” Came the retort as Fliss sank into the passenger seat, once more slamming the door shut.
“No one is saying you can’t do your job, just that for a little while you need to be careful.” He shook his head as he climbed in after her. “. You can’t ride and you can’t put yourself in a position where you might get hurt.”
Fliss folded her arms across her chest, staring out of the front window sullenly. “So basically I can’t do my job, like I just said…” “You own and manage the stables.” Frank felt his temper starting to flare a little as he drove the truck down the drive to the road.
“I’m well aware of that thank you!” “So own and manage then, Fliss!” he said loudly. Behind them on the back seat Thor began to growl at his raised voice.
“I do!” she blazed back, “What kind of stupid comment is that?”
“No, you do everything.” he snapped back, shaking his head, ignoring the dog. “You promoted Joanne so that you could take a step back and for a while you did, but then it all started creeping back up again and you took more of that control back. You took the classes you gave her back, you still insist on being there most mornings to open and close up! The whole point of you giving her more responsibility was so that you could concentrate on teaching and the management side.” Fliss looked at him, before she turned away, staring out of the window as Thor’s growls died down. She knew Frank was right, she had started taking bits of tasks back off Joanne. Not on purpose, not really, but because she felt like she should be doing more. She didn’t like feeling out of control, not after spending so long being forced to be for no particular reason other than her ex was an abusive ass hole.
“Honey I get it.” Frank sighed, as he saw her reach up to wipe her eyes. “It’s your business, but that doesn’t mean you have to be on the front lines all the time. Look at Alan, I see him max once a month, the rest of the time he leaves it to me and the other team leaders to run. That’s the whole point!” “I know.” Fliss said quietly. “I’m a control freak, I get it…guess I spent so much time not being in control of my life and my career I just…”
Frank took a deep breath his hand reaching out for hers. Once more ignoring the dog on the back seat he tangled his fingers into hers and raised his hand to her mouth, pressing his lips softly to her wrist.
“Being driven isn’t a bad thing, sweetheart.” he said softly “In fact it’s one of the things that attracted me to you in the first place. But, certainly for the next few months you need to just step back, let others do the work for you. You can still boss them about from the side lines.” “I don’t boss-“ she started and he looked at her eyebrow raised and she let out a chuckle. “Okay, maybe I do a little.” “And you’re entitled to.” He smiled. “Look, I don’t want to tell you what to do and I have no intentions of making you stop work or anything like that but, well, it’s not just you now, you got Bean to think about and I worry ok?” “I know, I’m sorry.”
“Me too. I didn’t mean to snap.”
Apologies accepted and World War Three avoided, Frank smiled at her and she smiled back as he let go of her hand so he could turn the truck up the lane onto the freeway.
“So…” he said, changing the subject “How do you want to tell the Circle of Truth our news.” She grinned and turned to look at him “I had an idea…” Turns out her idea was simple. Giggling to themselves once they go home they arranged the scan photo, the baby-grow and the trainers on the dining table, snapped a photo and fired it out to the group text accompanied simply by the words “Coming August 2019…”
Immediately both their phones started to ring, Greg was on to Frank, and Bonnie onto Fliss. Whilst Greg was slightly more reserved, Bonnie was almost screaming in excitement demanding to know all the details.
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me!” she scoffed and Fliss smiled. “We didn’t tell anyone other than family.” she said “With everything that has happened I was so scared something might go wrong. You’re not cross are you?”
“Cross, no of course not! This is amazing!” Bonnie gushed “So, what happened first, you gotta tell me…the proposal or finding that out?”
Fliss beamed “No, Frank proposed before he knew. Which makes me even happier because he wanted me to marry him because of me, not out of any duty or feeling it was the right thing to do.”
“Of course he wanted to marry you.” Bonnie scoffed “That goes without saying. Oh I’m so excited, I can’t wait.”
Bonnie’s reaction paled into insignificance to Roberta’s. When they collected Mary from the school bus they told her that she could go and tell Roberta the news she’d been dying to tell her since Christmas, so she skipped ahead, banging on the woman’s door. When Mary blurted out Fliss was pregnant and Frank passed her the scan photo she paused for a moment before her head raised to look at them both and she burst into tears and it took them a good half an hour to calm her down. Once she’d assured them she was fine and couldn’t wait for unofficial Nanny duties, the three of them headed home where they decided that Pizza was on the menu for the evening. Along with waffles for Fliss, of course.
After stuffing their faces they sat on the sofa, the scan photo placed on the coffee table, Frank catching Mary looking at it every so often. When it hit 8 pm and he told her it was time for bed, she grumbled as usual until Frank shot her a look and she sighed dramatically, shuffling to the edge of the seat she had been occupying between them both.
She glanced at the scan photo before she turned to Fliss and looked at her.
“I really am happy you’re having a baby.” She smiled “It’s been so hard not telling everyone at school, especially Rosie.”
Fliss smiled at her and Frank reached out, rubbing Mary’s back. “Well you can tell who you want now Stack.” “You know you’re gonna have to stop calling me that.” She turned to look at him “Because when Bean is born, it’s gonna be the shortest one out of us all.” “You’ll always be short stack to me.” Frank smirked. “Or I could change it to squirt, or pain-in-the-ass…” “You’re so lame.” Mary rolled her eyes.
Frank gave a sarcastic laugh. “ha ha ha.”
“Can Rosie come for dinner on Friday?” She suddenly looked at Fliss, and Fliss immediately glanced at Frank. They’d heard a lot about the girl from Mary, and Bonnie had said they were thick as thieves at school which pleased Frank, the fact that she was actually forging proper friendships but she’d never asked them if she could have a friend over.
“Of course.” Fliss nodded. “You can ask her tomorrow and then I can speak to her mom if you want? Maybe she can sleep over?” “Hmmm.” Mary thought about it “I’m not sure about that, but dinner would be good.”
Frank looked at Fliss again “What aren’t you sure about?”
She shrugged “I dunno, I kinda like my own time in the evening.” “What are you, ninety?” Frank looked at her and she glared at him.
“Shut up.”
“She can come for dinner.” Fliss cut across what was threatening to spark into a childish tit-for-tat insult trading game “Ask her tomorrow and then I’ll speak to her mom okay?”
“How will you speak to her mom?” “I’ll call her.” “Do you have her number?” “No but you can get it for me.” Fliss looked at Mary “Or I’ll come pick you up and catch her at School…” “Stop worrying about stuff…” Frank said exasperatedly “We’ll sort it ok? Now come on, bed!”
Mary stood up and she looked once more at the scan photo “Is it wrong that I already love the baby, like loads?”
“No, it’s not wrong.” Fliss smiled at her.
“I mean know it’s like just my cousin and not my brother or sister or anything but…” Mary trailed off shrugging. “Hey.” Fliss looked at her, frowning slightly as she reached out to tuck Mary’s now quite long hair behind her ear, “It’s not just your cousin. Bean’s gonna be living with you, looking up to you, annoying the hell out of you, following you…and they’re gonne love you, learn from you…you’ll be just the same as a big sister.”
Marry nodded and turned to hug Fliss, then to Frank who pulled her onto his lap, kissing her forehead.
“I know you’re only my Uncle but I really wish you were my dad.” Mary said, her voice quiet. Frank looked at Fliss, swallowing as his girl wore a look on her face that he had no words to describe other than one of utter heartbreak and love as her eyes sprang with tears and he felt his own water.
“Only your Uncle?” he said, his voice cracking as he attempted to make a joke “Charming…” “You know what I mean.” Mary shrugged.
Frank sighed. It was the first time Mary had ever said anything like that to him. She’d made a comment in the past about wishing Fliss was her mom which hadn’t been repeated since. If truth be told, he felt uneasy labelling himself as her father. Granted, a lot of people automatically assumed he was, and if they weren’t people he knew, or would meet again, he didn’t bother correcting them because it wasn’t needed. Fliss had told him time and time again, no matter how much he hated it, he was Mary’s father by-proxy, even if she didn’t call him that, and he got that yes, but he still wanted Mary to know about Diane, even if he had brought her up. For that reason, he would never be referred to as her father, nor would she ever call him Dad, but he’d love her like he was every single day of his life.
“Look…” He sighed, pulling back to look down at her. “I promised I’d always look after you…well, until I get too old and you put me in a nursing home.” at that she laughed a little “Isn’t that what a dad does?”
Mary nodded “Yeah…”
“So what’s really eating you, Stack?” He asked softly, he could see that she wasn’t completely placated.
“When the baby comes…you’re not gonna love me any less are you?” She asked, looking at him.
“Fuck, no!” Frank blurted out, at the same time Fliss exclaimed
“Of course not!”
Frank shook his head “Mary, I couldn’t love you any more if I tried, regardless of whether you were actually my kid or not. And Fliss feels the same.” “Of course I do.” Fliss looked at her
“So please don’t worry about that or think that for a single second, okay?”
“Okay.” She sniffed, before she grinned at Frank “You said the F word.”
“Yeah, well you drove me to it.” he shrugged “And here’s another swear for you. If I ever hear stupid shit like that come outta your mouth again…there’s gonna be real trouble. You have nothing to worry about. I promise you from the bottom of my heart. Lissy too.”
Fliss nodded “I already tell the people I work with when they ask who the girl is on the website that she’s my Mary”
“You do?”
“Course.” she nodded, “Because you are.”
Mary took a deep breath before she nodded “Okay. Can I watch TV in my room for a while?”
Frank sighed “Twenty minutes, max…”
Mary nodded and then looked at him again. “Can I take the photo of Bean for my wall?”
“We were gonna stick it on the fridge, so we can all share it.” Frank looked at her “But tell you what, you take it tonight and then we’ll make a copy for you to keep.”
“Can I take my copy to school?”
“You can stick it on your head for all I care.” Frank shrugged.
“Well that’s just dumb.” She scoffed, hopping down off his knee. Fliss and Frank watched her leave before Frank looked at Fliss, letting out a deep breath.
“Do you think she feels left out, already?” “No.” Fliss said, shaking her head “She’s just a little concerned things are going to change for her, and I understand why Frank. Stuff is gonna change around here, there’s no denying that and it’s going to be strange for her. Especially as she’s had so many changes to put up with over the last eighteen months. You know, she had you to herself for so long and then I turned up, and then I moved in and suddenly there’s a wedding and a baby on the way. It’s happened fast and-“ “Too fast?” Frank looked at Fliss, his face betraying his worry and Fliss shook her head.
“No, not at all. I love you, and I have no doubt I want to spend the rest of my life with you and yes, this baby wasn’t planned but, I’m happy. All I’m saying is that it’s been a huge thing for us, and we’re adults. For an almost nine year old then it’s bound to be overwhelming.” “I just don’t want her to worry about her ever having to leave us again.” he sighed. “Or that I’m gonna replace her with my actual kid…”
“She doesn’t.” Fliss assured him. “Not really. Look, try not to think about it too much okay? Let’s enjoy this you know? It’s scary, really scary, but it’s also exciting!” “Yeah, yeah it is…” Frank smiled and shifted slightly, his hand reaching out to Fliss’ stomach as he placed a tender kiss to her lips.
And right on cue the thunder once more rumbled from Thor’s throat.

Hello everyone, it’s been a long while since my last post! I’m finally back to present a new project I was working on. I officially started it at the beginning of this year but I had to move it back farther and farther because of schoolwork. Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to more art as school starts to end. Anyways, I think that’s enough of me rambling on. I hope you all like the art and the story, and have a good day!
Introduction
You wake up from a long sleep still tired from your energy draining job. Although the joy of taking care of your plants makes the thought of work completely disappear. While doing your morning routine you notice a small friend among the group of plants. It seems like your day off will be more interesting this time around.
A Visitor Among the Plants
I felt a warm sensation cover my eyes. They fluttered open but the harsh sunlight forced them shut. My mouth released an aggravated groan as I opened my eyes to the bright light again. After a few minutes I lifted my body up, shifting over to sit at the side of my bed. When I got up a rush of pain came over my body making me grunt angrily. I looked down at myself and saw I slept in my clothes again.
I got a new job a few weeks ago with really good pay. Although I think most of our pay is based off all the labor we do. All I do is haul heavy boxes around. Trust me it’s a lot harder than it sounds. The shifts are so long I don’t get home till 9 PM. No wonder no one else is moving boxes with me. I can’t wait to find a new job, something that doesn’t include exercise. Usually when I get home I go straight to bed, I’m too tired to do anything else.
A tired sigh came from me as I got on my feet. Once I got situated I started to stretch my arms, it seems to ease the pain. Or it prepares me for the pain I’m not sure which one.
As I was stretching I looked at my plants and froze. I shook my head trying to get back to stretching. I made a satisfied hum to myself, deciding I was done for the morning. I’m very proud of my family of plants even though it’s small I love it. My dream has been to have a job taking care of plants or a person. I’ve been told by several friends and family I’m good at taking care of things. I finally got out of my thoughts realizing I’ve just been standing the whole time.
I slowly walked over to one of my plants and caressed its leaf.
I chuckled, “You look a little sad today, I’m sure this sunlight will cheer you up.” I whispered quietly. I walked over to the window and carefully opened the blinds. Then I went to get my mister on the windowsill to only grab nothing. “Huh, that’s strange”, I muttered to myself. I turned around to see my mister on the ground. As I walked over and picked it up something felt off. But I just shrugged it off a nothing.
On my way to start misting my plants I saw something white move near one of them. A wave of confusion came over my face. Yet again I shrugged it off, probably a bug of some kind. When I started misting my plants again, I swore I saw it again. Now its got my attention this time. It emerged from behind a leaf, I blinked a few times to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. With a longer look at the creature it isn’t a bug at all. It was covered in colors of black and white, but before I could see more it was gone. Curiosity filled me to the brim with a mix of excitement. I’ve never seen a creature such as this one before. ‘So strange, I wonder what it is.’ I thought anxiously. So many questions were filling my mind at one time. I was determined to figure out what this creature is.
Tumblr media
I slowly walked towards the plant it came from trying to not scare it away. I crouched down so I could be eye to eye with the creature. Maybe it wouldn’t be as scared if I wasn’t looming over it. “Hello?” I spoke out in a soft tone. For what had seemed to be a hour I awaited a response. Nothing but the sound of silence filled the room. After another long while with no response I was about to give up. Starting to wonder if this is really worth wasting my day off on. I suddenly heard the small sound of ruffling leaves. Slowly the small creature presented itself to me again but more confident this time. Now that I get a better look at it I was right, not a bug. As it stayed in place I tried to configure what I think it is. Based on its facial features it looks like a skeleton. The bright eye-lights and pale a white complexion, looks like one to me. Thousands of questions filled my head again.
Tumblr media
“Hello?” a voice asked, looking at me with curiosity. From the pitch in the creatures voice I assumed it was male.
“Hi!” I loudly exclaimed, startling the creature. Guess my excitement took over me. He hid among the leaves again. I silently scolded myself, I’m sure that scared him. “I’m so sorry I just got a bit excited.” He uncloaked himself fully this time.
“Excited to talk to me?”, he asked in disbelief.
“Of course! Why wouldn’t I be? You look incredibly interesting after all!” After I said that his face got all purple. ‘Aw he must not be used to compliments.’ I gave him a warm smile in response. As I was just about to ask him something but my stomach got to it first.
He didn’t seem like the talkative type. After a minute of thinking I finally thought of something. “Maybe I could ask you a few questions over a snack?” I asked him, hoping he’d agree. He immediately started nodding his head. “Alright then, just stay here and I’ll be back.” I pushed my tired body up with my legs and walked over to the bedroom door. Just to make sure He was ok I looked back at him to see. He was peeking out from the side of the plant, how cute.
When I arrived in the kitchen I started to wonder what he’d like. I stretched up to a cabinet and grabbed a plate. Carefully closing it the cabinet and putting the plate on the table. When I opened the fridge a shower of cold air washed over me. A small chill spread throughout my body as I grabbed the strawberries. I went back to the counter and poured some strawberries onto the plate. ‘Hopefully this will be enough.’ I questioned as I got a knife from a drawer.
I finally got back into the bedroom with him hungrily awaiting my return. When I closed the door his head shot up to look at me. He probably hasn’t eaten in a long while. I cautiously put the plate onto the table so it didn’t make a sound. After that I walked over to him crouching down to his height. I put my hand under the leaves and lifted them up so he could have more room. The leaves softly grazing the top of my hand as I did so. He hesitantly climbed onto the palm of my hand, holding on tight.
I slowly walked him over to the desk and sat him down. I gave him a warm smile, “I hope you like,” Before I could even finish my sentence he was already devouring it. “Strawberries...” I though about a good starting question for him, something easy. “So...what exactly are you?” I asked curiously. It took him a second before he responded.
Tumblr media
“I’m a skeleton other than that I’m not sure.”
“Aren’t you a little small to be a skeleton?” I questioned jokingly. He made a loud huffing sound angrily. “What’s your name then?” I asked him to change the subject.
“Cross” he answered hesitantly. He still seems to be a bit weary of me but I’m not surprised. We just met after all and he’s still probably scared of me.
“What a nice name.” I told him, he didn’t say anything but instead kept eating again. I guess he’s a little shy too. I felt a small poke on my arm and looked down. He held out a big strawberry for me, waiting for me to take it.
“Here” he said firmly, holding out the strawberry farther. I was a bit confused at first but I took it.
“oh alright” I took a few bites of the strawberry. My eyes landed on him again noticing that he was getting tired. ‘He probably ate a lot for his size’ I though.
I offered him a hand and said, “here, you look tired”. He looked a little confused but clung to my hand anyways. I walked him over to my bed and made a makeshift bed out of some covers. After that I slowly rested him down on top of the covers. I went back over to my plants and started to mist them again. ‘Hopefully he’ll be up to more questions tomorrow.’

134. I, Mikhailo, take you, Ian, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health,  to love and to cherish you till death do us part.
135. Good morning, Mr - Millagher?
136. You hungry?
137. You wanna go again?  -Absolutely.-

Trapped in this life of expensive wine and judgemental eyes Y/N met an unusual lady who offered her a job at an aquarium a few towns away. Despite being hesitant and uncertain for the future she decided to take the offer as it was her only way out, not knowing that many dangers might come her way.
Jungkook swam his way through the small tunnel in wonder. He didn’t realise what he was ‘walking’ into as he took the entire night to explore a tunnel. He thought it might lead to you, how naive. It is only when he heard the piercing sound of drilling from the small tunnel entrance did he know what was happening, he was trapped. With that, his instincts took over.
Chapter: #2 Swimming in Wine
Words: 4181
Warnings: Mild Swearing // Fluff // Eventual Smut? Idk maybe depends // Jungkook obsessive // Evil Namjoon (im sorry guys) // It might be a little messed up.

You awoke abruptly as a slam of the car door next to you made you nearly jump from your seat. You sat up and looked around as Julie stepped out of the car onto the wet road. Your head feeling cloudy as you noticed you were parked in a parking lot next to a tall building in the middle of the bustling city. Your eyes then followed Julie who walked across the road towards a small bakery. You could smell the food from here as your stomach grumbled loudly. You closed your eyes again, hearing the cars go past as their tires hit the puddles on the ground. The distant honk of horns and the bus going past made you feel somewhat tranquil, wanting to stay like that forever. You were ready to go back to sleep before the sound of the car door opening made your eyes open again.
"Oh, so you're finally awake?" Julie looks towards you with a smile on her face as she ducks her head under the car roof and gets in. She closes the door firmly beside her, with a bag of pastries in her hand.
"Uh yeah I guess. How long was I asleep for?" You don't even look in her direction as you rub your eyes, feeling sleep try to invite you in once more.
"No more than a few hours, although we are just about there. We are staying at my place for a while. Just out of the city in Taelin Shore" (I made it up with the idea of "Tail", it's not a ship name). She looked at you, shaking the bag of pastries in her hand that you didn't even notice till now.
"So when do I start work?" You look at the pastries and then back at her, wanting to focus on what's important. She places the pastries on the backseat and starts the engine, before driving out of the parking lot.
"Well, you will have an orientation on Monday at the aquarium which starts at 9 am till 2 pm. It's only small but I think it's just for showing you the ropes and letting you explore the building." She continues to drive out of the city down the coast, heading for Taelin Shore.
"Wait Monday? That's only three days away. They didn't even give me an interview yet" It seemed unreal at the most, how could they have that much faith in you?
"They don't need an interview. I told you, I know the owner. He trusts my word more than anyone." She smiles, the brown locks of her hair tied back into a messy bun, something you never thought she would wear. At the dinner party, she seemed so elegantly dressed like the other woman there. It was weird to see her in casual clothes and indulging in sweet pastries.
You look at her once more in disbelief, feeling hesitant about this situation. "I barely know you. I heard that you knew my mother but forgive me if that in itself makes me even more concerned". She chuckles slightly, gripping the wheel tightly as she turns another corner. "You might barely know me, but I was around ever since you were born. I just want to help you. I love your mother, but she puts too much pressure on you."
You sighed as you looked out the window realising you reached the coast of Taelin. It seemed beautiful and serene as you drove through the town, going past, looking at the view of the ocean. You were excited but nervous. What if you don't like it here? What if it is the same as back home? A place that kills every  good part of you, forcing you to feel paranoid about everyone you meet? You didn't want to be near that. You wanted to be free.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the car going up the hill on a small dirt path and parking next to a small beach house that was facing the ocean. "We're here, how do you like it? Nice view huh?" Julie smiles in awe as she exits the car, slamming the car door behind her. You do the same as you both look out towards the view of the vast ocean and the mountains that surround the small town.
Julie points down towards the pier urging you to look over to see a massive building next to the docks. "That's where you will be working in the next couple of days." She smiles, "don't worry, everyone's friendly. It's different here".
You look over at her in doubt, "What about you? How do I know you're different than the rest of them back at home?".
She chuckles before turning back towards you, "I got you out, didn't I?" she pats your shoulder before heading inside. She leaves you with your thoughts.

[6:43 am]
It was early in the morning, the light from the sun started to shine in your room as you soon noticed that you - again - forgot to close the curtains. Although awake, instead of you getting up to close them, you laid there for a while. The sound of the waves crashing was distant, but you could almost feel the pressure and the weight of the water crashing onto the rocks. You imagined what it would be like to be that rock, every day having to go through the same cycle. Every morning the tide would try and crash down and attempting to break through on the rocks until it is time for the water to come back in. The water could never break the rocks, perhaps that was even more torture.
You sighed, not even understanding your own thoughts sometimes. You groan as you get up from the warm and comforting bed, heading towards the shower. You undressed and turned the shower on, watching the steam build-up in the room, covering the mirror. You preferred hot showers.
After your shower, you left to walk along the beach. Upon stepping outside the two-story house, you feel a gush of wind. The cold pierces your body as the wind flutters through your clothes. You walk down the steps of the patio and walk over to the edge of the cliff, looking down at the water that once again crashes through the rocks violently.
You weren't afraid of the ocean and had spent your whole life in the water. Although, something didn't feel right here. You watched the water down below. I looked peaceful yet restless. With every second it became more violent, the clouds grew dark quickly, and you noticed a drop of water fall onto your forehead. You sighed and looked back down the cliff before seeing a small splash in the water and something with a scaly body. But it was nothing like what you had seen at the aquarium. You felt yourself getting dizzy and started to wonder when the last time you had eaten something. You cursed under your breath for rejecting those pastries Julie got yesterday. You stumbled, backwards and forwards as your vision started to spin. The dark cloud's now covering the sky completely. You had tried to balance yourself, but you had ended up stepping forward to much, descending over the cliff and crashing down into the ocean. Your vision went black.
The water was cold, too cold. You felt the cold sinking into your skin, grasping onto your bones, coating them in ice. You didn't bother to open your eyes as you felt yourself crashing in and out of the water. You could hear the waves and thunder as you reach the surface, before getting pulled under again. Suddenly strong arms wrapped around you from behind. Your toes and the back of your thighs could feel the slimy tail that was swaying beneath the surface. You tried to look over at what has a hold of you. Although it was strong, and you could barely move your body. You could feel its cold hands enveloping around your chest and your waist as your body swayed in the current. You could feel its hot breath on your neck whispering things in your ear before you passed out from exhaustion.

[Two days later]
Monday - 8:45 am
The morning was quick, slipping your shoes on as you try to make your way down the stairs of the beach house into the lounge room. You couldn't stop thinking about that day. The day where you
woke up on the beach and Julie insisted on calling the doctor even though you assured her everything was fine. It was surprising, to say the least, that you didn't even get hurt. There were tons of rocks as the current was nearly ripping you apart. That was before that thing showed up. It felt like death was surrounding you. Ironic really that it may have saved your life.
"Hurry up Y/N, I told them you'd be there by 9. You're lucky we don't live far away from the Aquarium". Julie watches you run around the house as you find your bag and keys. You ignore her comments as you rush out the door towards the car, opening the passenger side and getting in.
"Why don't you let me drive?" You groan, looking at your watch. She gets in beside you and starts the car. "Because dear Y/N, you’re impulsive and from what I heard, it took you seven times before you passed your driving test and you haven't driven since." You roll your eyes as she drives down the dirt road and onto the main road.
You look out towards the ocean, seeing the waves crash onto the rocks on the mountains, slamming on the rocks violently. Your mind wandered for a bit. You could almost feel the hot breath against your neck again, ice-cold arms wrapping around your body. The memory of that strange creature is still vivid in your mind. You didn't tell Julie, of course. She'd probably think you're crazy.
Your eyes wander towards the open sea, seeing the birds glide over the water, how free they looked. The thought of being free sounded appealing, oh how you wanted to be one of those birds, flying across the water, without a care in the world.
But even you knew that in reality, those birds still needed to fight to survive, even they sometimes had to turn against each other.
You sighed, looking towards the road as you see small fish and bakery shops already opened and full of locals. A few minutes passed as the car turned into a car park. "We're here." Julie parked the car.
"You're not coming in with me?" You looked at her pouting a little as she chuckles "Do you want me to?" Your eyebrows furrowed, quickly grab your bag and open the door.
"No" You quickly answer and slam the door, feeling as though she was mocking you a little because you didn't want to do it alone.
"You don't need her Y/N" You tell yourself. "She's just like the rest of them. Just take advantage of the situation until your good on your own. Then let her go. She's just using you"
You make your way towards the entrance, going past the two waterfalls with statues of dolphins spitting out water. The glass doors opened as you enter, and you look at your watch, it was 8:57.
You walk in following the tunnel entrance towards the reception although you couldn't help but wonder where everyone was. Wasn't it opening today? Were you mistaken? You continue towards the reception, seeing a young handsome looking man in a suit typing away on his computer. You clear your throat and the man looks over at you.
"Oh, my apologies miss. We are not open today due to a technical issue, but we will be opening tomorrow at 7 am. Do you wish to make a booking early?" The handsome man looks over at you, his broad shoulders prominent. You glanced over at his name tag labelled "Kim Seokjin".
"Uhh, no thank you. My name is Y/N, Y/N L/N. I'm here for my induction." Your words came out less confident than you would have liked as you looked down at the floor.
"Y/N!?" You flinched, hearing your name being called. You looked over as another man in a black suit walked towards you. He was tall and had blonde hair, slicked back and styled. He held out a hand to you, "Hello, my name is Kim Namjoon. Julie told me so much about you." He smiled at you, displaying his two dimples on each side of his face. Just like the receptionist, his visuals were prominent.
You shook his hand, blinking a few times before realising, "You're... my boss??" you stammered out, his firm strong hands wrapped around your tiny ones. You have to admit, he was well built and his smile was to die for. He chuckled, letting your hand go before directing you past the reception and into the food court of the aquarium. You look back towards the reception, wanting to say goodbye to the receptionist but it was too late as Namjoon led you down the hall.
As the two of you entered the food court, the room was wide, and it looked like a massive underground restaurant with fish tanks surrounding it. You have never seen anything like it.
"So, Y/N, as you might have guessed this place is quite empty at the moment, just a small a technical issue but it hopefully will be fixed in a few days" Namjoon leads you across the room letting you take a look at everything. You suppose that this is going to be your tour.
"Ah yes, so I've heard" Namjoon smiles while continue walking as you went past an enormous tank that looked like it connected with the other tanks. You glanced at his attire, classic black suit and tie with a white shirt underneath.
Namjoon had stopped and glanced around the room. "This is the food court, although most of the time when you are working you won't be needed here." It just had occurred to you that you didn't even know what position you'd be in. All you knew was that it was a job away from your mother and paid quite a lot of money. Julie was right, you are impulsive.
"So, what am I going to be doing here?" You look over at him as he continues to walk, heading towards another room with a big smile on his face, showing his dimples.
"Well, Y/N-"
"Namjoon! There you are, we have a situation..." A man with a white coat entered the room. He had a concerned look about him but as soon as he saw you it changed into a big smile and you couldn't help but want to smile back at him.
"Hello! My name is Jung Hoseok. You must be the new girl that will be working for us?" You looked at him and couldn't help but feel special as he gave you all his attention. Namjoon looked over at you while you smiled back at Hoseok, you dont know why but you just felt so comfortable around him.
"Ah yes... I guess everyone knows about me, huh" you shyly answered, suddenly finding the urge to fiddle with your earring. It was a nervous habit. "My name is Y/N L/N. It's nice to meet you" Hoseok smiled again before Namjoon cleared his throat, regaining our attention.
"Hoseok... Did you want to speak in private?" Hoseok's smile immediately dropped and he looked at Namjoon with a more serious expression.
"Yes, of course,  Regarding our technical problem, there is some important information you need to know." Namjoon nods his head and looks over at you. "Excuse me, Miss L/N".
You watched them walk out of the food court. You wondered what the technical problem was. Even the receptionist was vague about it. You sighed and took a seat at the cafe. You sat there staring at a fish in a tank. The food court was big and round. The walls surrounding it was just glass tanks, with one in the middle of the circular room, acting as a pillar. You sat in your seat quietly, your mind started to wander back to those callous hands that feel like they never left your body. You felt an ice chill, it petrified you. It felt like you were marked by death.
You heard Namjoon and Hoseok walk in as you quickly stood up and pushed your chair in neatly. "Everything all sorted?" You press your lips together, trying to get that thing off your mind.
Namjoon looks at you curiously before frowning, 'I'm truly sorry, I don't think I can proceed with this tour. Something very important has come up". You nod, understandingly.
"No, No, I understand. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure I can navigate my way around the place." You take a glance around.
This place is way too big...
Namjoon looked over at you. "That won't be necessary, I have organised one of the staff members to come and give you a tour, you will be a trainer just like him. He will be mentoring you. His name is-"
"Hello Y/N". His voice was sweet. Angelic, but not innocent. A sultry like voice that sounded like a whisper of temptation. You looked over your shoulder to see an elegant looking man with light brown locks walking over to you. His style was neat as he had black-skinny jeans and a white t-shirt, following by a Chanel bag. "My name is Park Jimin," the man said.
Damn the wage must be crazy then huh...
Namjoon sighed and looked at the floor, that was the second time he had gotten interrupted. Namjoon looked over at Jimin and then at you, before stating "This is your mentor".
Jimin looks over at you cocking his head as he smiled at you. "Come on, let me show you the place! Oh yeah, and you can meet Tae! He'd love to meet you." He grabbed your hand, locking your fingers with his as he dragged you out of the food court. "Goodbye Hoseok and Namjoon! Nice meeting you!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You sat there next to the water on the platform that stretches over the dolphin's tank. Jimin had taught you how to feed them and the different signals you can do with your hands. When you first saw Jimin, he seemed to like this neat good-looking guy that wouldn't work at a place like this. But here, now looking at him as he is feeding the dolphins with the biggest smile on his face, his hair fluffy and eyes glued to the water, he looked like he belonged.
"Jimin-ah!" you heard someone shout. Jimin stood up quickly and ran off the platform onto the concrete towards a tall looking man, well at least taller than Jimin. "Taehyung-ah! You are 3 hours late! You know you can't always get me to cover for you. You are lucky Y/N was there when I ran into Namjoon today, he for sure would have asked me about you. You know I can't lie to him!" Jimin and Taehyung walked back on the platform and you could finally see Taehyung features.
"Hi, my name is Kim Taehyung. Nice to meet you" he bowed and smiled. His voice was low, that was the first thing you noticed about him. The second thing was his fluffy black hair and you suspected that he recently had a perm. He was soft in every way except he had this dominating presence that could be seen through his eyes. He smiled at you, his box smile making you smile.
"Hello! My name is Y/N. Quite late, are you?" You smiled, and he chuckled. "I swear this doesn't always happen." Jimin scoffed and you tried to hold in your laughter.
"Oh yeah, did you show her around yet?" Taehyung came and sat down on the platform. We joined him, watching the dolphins. Jimin looked over at you "Well we did look around a little, but we haven't been to all the off-limit areas yet".
This intrigued you, "Ooh, now I’m excited. " You spoke with enthusiasm and Taehyung and Jimin smirked at one another. Jimin looked your way "Okay so we can’t get caught there though, it's off-limits to everyone besides Namjoon and Hoseok."
You nodded, curious to see what those "off-limit areas" are. Taehyung sighed, "I don't get why it's off-limits. Those poor fishes all alone... No one to talk too..." Taehyung pretends to cry and puts his hands over his face before taking them off and smirking. You were confused about his comment.
You look over at Taehyung. He was a character that's for sure. He seemed more carefree than Jimin. Perhaps he didn't like his job as much as Jimin liked it? You weren't one to judge though. You did, in fact, move away from home with barely any knowledge where you're going or if Julie was trustful. You were pretty carefree yourself. But thats because you feel like you have nothing to lose.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Come on! Come on! Hurry up Tae." Jimin whispered loudly.
Taehyung was dawdling behind as you and Jimin were making your way downstairs in the back area of the aquarium. Towards one of the rooms  that were "off-limits". Jimin and Taehyung said they have been working here for years and they have a special key for one of the rooms down here. Apparently it came from the bartender that worked in the food court. Jimin said that the bartender had found it while cleaning and decided to keep it.
"Ah yes, the bartender... watch out for that one" Taehyung chuckled as you guys went through the door using the key. "What do you mean?" you answered, watching Jimin use the key on the door.
"Don't scare her Taehyung! It's her first day, I'm sure he will like her." Jimin sighed but smirked slightly as he opened the doors. As you walked inside you noticed the walls looked like they were made out of stone with little windows that revealed the ocean. There was a long hallway, the ground was made out of sand and as you went down the pathway you could see a moonpool of some sort that had fish in it.
"My little fishes! How have you been?" Taehyung yells out and Jimin shushes him.
"I can't believe this is down here," You say, getting closer the glowing moonpool. Taehyung walks past you, "well no one comes down here anymore. As we said, we have the key. No one has been in, so we figured we are the only ones who have a key to the place."
“But, like how is it here? Under the aquarium?” You wondered, sitting down next to the moonpool.
“Its connected to the mountains. The aquarium is on the shore but the back of it is connected to the mountains that surround Taelin Shore and this just so happens to be here.” Jimin states, looking around it awe.
Jimin smiled and looked over at Taehyung, "Its our little hideout but now I feel like it should be Y/N's..." Jimin smiled as he spoke, visably excited and leaned onto Taehyung. You suppose they have been friends since their childhood. You could have sensed it on them.
You gave Jimin a confused expression he looked over at you and handed you the key, "here". You looked at him and stood back. "Wait what? Why are you giving me that? isn't it yours?". Jimin shrugs and puts it in your other hand. "I was once new here as well. I know how it feels, sometimes you just want some peace and quiet." Taehyung then chips in, "It may not seem like it now but when it gets busy, it can be stressful. Besides, we haven't been in here for a while, we don't have any use for it.
You smiled, you did need this. With Julie at home and these two at work, you knew you're going to have your hands full. Just the other day, you wanted time alone... By the end of it, you fell off a cliff and nearly drowned. Perhaps this could be a place for you to be alone. Everyone needed a hideout, right?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was the end of the day and Jimin and Taehyung were finished giving you their tour. You were surprised that you felt so comfortable around them. Julie was right, the people here are different.
You stood outside of the Aquarium hugging and saying goodbye to both Jimin and Taehyung as they walked towards their cars to go home. You weren't planning to stay for this long, truth is your orientation ended hours ago. You just wanted to spend more time with them.
You walked over to the pillar at the steps, waiting for Julie to come to pick you up. You sat down on the steps quietly before hearing someone raise their voice as they were heading up the steps. You hid behind the pillar, sittiing there silently. Thankfully, they didn't see you.
You heard Hoseok's voice "You don't understand! We got him! We got him, you hear me? This is a breakthrough of the century! Do you know what we could do now that we have him? The possibilities are endless. This creature is-"
You heard someone interrupt. It sounded like Namjoon, "This creature is the only thing we have going for us right now so would you be so kind to stay quiet! I know you're excited, but we can't let anyone know about this, he's dangerous."
They both went inside. Leaving you to your thoughts.
Honk Honk
"Come on Y/N, It's late!" Julie yelled out from the car. You got up and grabbed your bag before running over to the car.
"I'm coming!"
