They said he was a murderous fuck, and he was to those who senselessly hurt others. Even so, the way he dealt with them shocked but didn’t hurt. The corpse flower bloomed once every very dark seven-year, ten-year period. Kali of the night and a healer and harmer like her, its aroma was the strongest in the dark morning leading into the early light. It emanated heat, warmth. Attracted carrion beetles and flesh flies. The smell of death didn’t necessarily make Law sick. The smell of smoke didn’t honeycomb him into a maze of neurons like ants scurrying pathways home. But Law’s mind was a crannied pockmark of death, and so he valued life. Zoro. He didn't want Zoro to sacrifice himself to the plan. Any plan. The corpse flower was the largest in the world, and could only hold its head up for a day, a day and a half at the most, before it collapsed. Law was glad the leaflets had lodged in Zoro's system. What kind of survival for the hanahaki sufferer was there if a flower bloomed intermittently and soon after died? Only to appear again a decade later, although the flower appeared more regularly after its first showing. The stench, though. And what about the green algal slime and its creep over Law’s belongings? He didn’t let his crew touch it. “Toxic,” he warned. And it came from him. Secreted from him. Coated anything that he touched.  “Looks like Zoro’s hair,” Shachi murmured.

The guys have been holding steadily the whole day! Current stats:

August 10, 22:28 (UTC, +9).

Currently only a percent between the two ships. The biggest distance was 1.4%, I think! (LawSan 49.3% and LawZo 50.7% at one stage: 1.4% difference). And I check the voting numbers. They keep going up. It just really is that jujutsu holding pattern spell!

Ooh, it took me a while to edit this work. Current status now:

6% between them! 20 votes in an hour. I took that screen cap at about 23:22, August 10 (UTC +9). I'll try and finish this story if the guys win! (I'll try and finish it anyway, but, y'know!). Obviously every vote counts! Please vote ZoLaw if you haven't or you're sitting on the fence.

Nostalgia made me watch the One Piece live action - And i loved the ships so much it made me want to draw my own spin on them - inspired by both anime and film, but also by antique portolan charts !

What I love about the Zosan/Sanzo fandom is the Zolu and Acesan co-exist within those ships.

It's like common knowledge that "YES Zosan/Sanzo" but also "yep Zoro is DOWN for Luffy" and "Sanji DEFINITELY has a crush on Ace/ Ace is his bi awaking"

It makes my multi-shipper heart so happy.

Ships are definitely a thing in the one piece world and I imagine people forming like fan clubs where they talk about their ships and exchange fanart and fanfics

This is specifically about the strawhats but I'm sure others would also exist

The fans collectively pay to have a column in the newspaper promoting their club

I imagine some marines jobs are going to club meetups since they're always discussing the strawhats so it's a good way for the marines to know what the public knows about them and since they're always speculating about them it also helps them when looking into the members and what their next move will be because they have thousands of people discussing it. It's why the club is allowed to remain, and why they overlook missed payments to keep the ad in the news

But because of this they also have marines arguing about ships

"you're going for zosan?? They're always fighting you idiot! Zolu is ten times more likely"

"enemies to lovers trope you buffoon! It's so romantic, you should check out xxx take on it, I wasn't sold until I read it"

"guys, obviously sanlu beats both of them. The insatiable strawhat captain and the cook?? Match made in heaven"

"you guys are idiots. All of you. Obviously east blue polycule is the only answer."

And their superiors can't even do anything about it because at least they're enthusiastic about their job? They get the information they need and aren't technically doing anything wrong

Also the barto club 100% attend the meetings in disguise so they can talk about the strawhats in peace and people don't run away from them, so they become friends with some under cover Marines and they don't even realize it

The barto club also pays a huge portion for the club to keep its advertisement because anything discussing the strawhats needs to be put out there

They also produce a good portion of the works there for literally every ship, they do not have a favorite they will write/draw it all

They probably also recruit a few members at the club

Probably about to piss someone off but. . .

I pointed this out to a friend recently while trying to get them hooked on One Piece, then I thought given what's happening in several other fandoms right now, it's worth sharing it with everyone I can.

One Piece has been running since the 90's and has fans that have been there since the beginning. Since the live action last year, there has been a surge of new fans, myself included, who knew next to nothing coming in.

Some of us have chosen to go back to the beginning and read or watch everything while others are only watching the new series.

There are also numerous "conflicting" ships that some are diehards for. There are fem and trans variants of many of those characters and ships (mostly many fan created) as well.

The one thing I've seen almost nothing of is wars between fans about any of this. Older fans have been willing to answer questions and help new fans find info about backstories and lore without judging them for not going back and finding it themselves. I've never seen (for example) Zosan fans telling Zolu fans they can't ship them for any reason. Canon, crack ships, rare pairs, none of it matters. We're just having fun.

One Piece is one of (if not the most) well loved anime and manga series in existence and I've seen less drama from them than in fandoms of some one season series.

So to all the One Piece fans, thank you for being kind and welcoming!

And to everyone else that bothered to read all this, what are we doing?

Just wanted to thank everyone who voted for Sho-Dan in @onepiece-polls 's crack ship tourney! Even in the final minutes of the poll, I never thought we'd win. The support and validation I've gotten for this ship has been so wonderful. I've felt like a lone goofball for years about this, I'm happy the potential compatibility makes sense to others!

Also wanted give a shout out to Smoking Kills shippers, wish I had thought of a name as cool as that when submitting, and the propaganda was very convincing!

I hate ship wars so much because, not only are they a ludicrous reason to abuse each other over in online spaces, the arguments only ever seem to tear down queer readings of a text for the sake of personal interpretations of a relationship (even if that relationship is also queer).

So you just have people arguing back and forth with each other over why their particular queer reading is the one true legitimate or canon or 'healthy' (please save me from that word, I want to pluck it from the world and tear it to shreds) queer reading and all others are wrong, dirty, sinful, a fetish... (you see what I'm doing here right?).

I hate ship wars. I hate how puritanical, antiqueer, and misogynistic they always somehow manage to become in the name of championing a queer relationship.
