In one wip Solas looked a little bit too beat up... to balance the line of disheveled and on the brink of death #Is a delicate line #And painting these floating stones was such a joy! Good practice too as I don't often draw spacious and atmospheric scenes #I should do it more often. I was inspired by the concept art of Dai and datv. The amount of stories you can tell with the colors! LOVE #I tried a new technique for painting the skin and it was challenging. I layered transparent colors over a black and white shadow sketch.#A technique usually kept for oilpainting but it translated surprisingly well in digital media #And side note. Then took some courses in roadside hazard magic.#This sparked an interest in safety magic and resulted in an eventual change of major - but the outfit stayed true to their roots.#All that said and done; The original costume is really good and I hope OP keeps up the good wizarding work.#Remember that distracted driving is extremely dangerous. This is gutting me...

I have had family in the armed forces. One was in the army and was deported. He... took a long time to come back to how we remembered him, and that was after he fought tooth and nail to never be in a position so he could be deported again.

"They try to make him laugh, but the best they get is a smile that doesn't fully reach his eyes." How fucking real that line is.

Excellent analysis. It's making me sob, because it hits close to home how accurate it is.

I wonder how the Rutherford family reacted when Cullen finally walked up their doorsteps after nearly 2 decades. The last time they saw him, he was a bright-eyed young boy, eager to become a knight.

Yet in front of them is an older man, eyes heavy, hands and face scarred, smelling entirely different from the rest of them. How he moves- careful, steady, even cautious.

It's not the same home- that had been destroyed with the Blight -but shouldn't he feel comfortable with his family?

The way he talks is different as well, not entirely Fereldan anymore as his words reflect the places and people he has been with. At first, they jested about the Kirkwall drone or the Nevarran pitch, but it becomes less of a joke and more of a realization when they hear him curse in Elven.

Yes, he still treats them like family, but his words feel guarded, uniform, and militaristic. They try to joke and make him laugh, but the most they get out of him is a soft smile that doesn't reach his eyes.

They love him, they really do. Years upon years of no contact, only a handful of letters that could barely be considered a stack, but still treasured. He is their brother, their family and no one can say otherwise.

But, something inside them finally concedes that they know nothing about Cullen Stanton Rutherford.

He is a silhouette of the past they thought they knew.

Crochet TMNT!

I can't remember when I started these guys. At least as far back as January. But I just got the last one done tonight!

The skin tones are done in Rise colors (or as close as I could get them haha) because these are more like templates or warm-ups. They were always meant to be. What I really want to make someday is detailed Rise versions.

There are also some size and shape differences because I was adjusting and updating the pattern as I went AND because no two yarns outside of the same brand seem to be consistent with the weight they list lol

We'll see when (and if 😅) I actually get to making Rise versions. But for now, I'm pretty happy with how these lil guys turned out!
