January closed her eyes, imagining the entire castle, imagining no castle. The defenses available to Balmoral were not enough against a Master. They could not fight here; they had to hide. A shroud that could not be seen, could not be touched, and could not be dreamed of descended to obfuscate their position. When enemy forces came looking for someone, they’d find no one.

On average, what is the total MONTHLY amount that you spend on dining out*?
*(This doesn't only count going out to restaurants, but also stuff like picking up fast food to bring home, getting a coffee on the way to work, getting a premade sandwich from a grocery store deli during lunch, buying a quick snack from a convenience store or food cart whilst walking somewhere, ordering a pizza or any other food to be delivered to your home, etc.)
*(If you often dine out in groups/as a household: calculate and divide the costs so that you get a Per Person average. This is for YOU individually, NOT the total household/group costs)
(I'm sure polls similar to this have been made before (very common topic), I just haven't personally seen one that I can remember, so, I was curious to do my own! I was discussing this with a group of people today and it was very interesting to see how widely the number varied between individuals. :0c )
(Reblog for bigger sample size if you can, and feel free to explain your answer in tags if there's anything extra to add!)

"What do you remember of being human, Echo?" The question is out of the blue and unexpected. But Sora offers a patient smile and tilts her head in curiosity, just enough that one of her ears flops over. It's endearing, if anything.
But Echo wishes she hadn't asked.
"Not much. Distinct memories are cloudy." A tired tone says softly, a pained recollection in her eyes and an acrid haze in her soul that endures, endures, and endures, "But I remember the discomfort more than anything. My body always did feel wrong back then. Misshapen. Condensed. Like it was too small for everything buried underneath, and that ache went so deeply some days that it would make my skin crawl. I hated that part the most."
At that, Sora's expression falls. She looks inexplicably sad, as if she'd hoped for a different response, a gentler one despite knowing the harsh truth about the dark future and the struggles Echo must have suffered. "But you had Grovyle, right? I'm sure he took care of you."
"He did, Sora, of course he did." A sigh, a flick of an ear and claws clenched tightly into the churned earth pressed under her paws. "I doubt I deserved his attention, though. I was too busy being angry at the world to give any care back."
In my lore, Echo does not look fully human during their time in the dark future. Since they were Darkrai before becoming human, and as a result of Palkia's reckless shattering of the Dimensional Portal which distorted both time and space, Echo's transformation was broken and accidental. They ended up looking pretty messed up and definitely (not) human. A lot of their characteristics as Darkrai carried over but rather morphed into something else.
And Grovyle, growing up in a world where humans have been extinct for longer than any living pokémon has been alive, has no concept of what a "true" human looks like. The only thing he knows is descriptions of humans from glyphs and texts in old ruins. Thus, he mistakes Echo for an actual human. And Echo, not knowing what a human looks like themselves due to amnesia, accepts this identification with nothing better to use.

tagged by my girl alice @transfemininomenon!
last song: Black Betty, but the caravan palace cover
currently reading: :( I haven't done much non-academic reading in a hot minute unfortunately which means my answer is thoroughly meh: Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination, 2nd ed.
currently watching: oh man tagging me in this post is just a trap to expose me for being boring, clearly. as some of you already know I hardly ever watch shows, so the closest thing I have to an answer is that I've been watching NBA summer league games because I have no better basketball to watch right now. OR my parents have been binging Monk lately and I occasionally catch bits of episodes if I happen to be eating when they start watching
currently craving: actually just had some chocolate covered raisins like five minutes ago so not craving anything all that much rn! also if I think too hard about this I WILL start craving something else which would be bad so I'll leave it there
coffee or tea: oh my god this one really was designed to make me specifically have the most boring possible answers.. I don't drink either of them, mostly on account of my adhd but also I don't feel particularly drawn to them even putting that aside. my mom has a coffee problem though so I will say coffee as a show of solidarity, but really it's neither
standard disclaimer that you are free to completely ignore this if you don't feel like briefly reliving the mid-2010s via this post, but I'll tag @raeii @loz @fieldlands @firedell @hungwy @poguniversity @legofrans @ingleaisle @romcommunist and @captoring! and also any friends and mutuals bored on a tuesday morning (timezones do not interact) that want to do this, just assume I tagged you too

Madness Combat is a good series and we will have a bunch of OCs and sonas in it. For fun.
Just a quick drawing of Vallie having to drag Faye back from the dead through 2BDamned's tried and true methods, plus the colorless reference we made of the two of them ages ago and forgot to post.
Both characters use she/her, Faye uses it/its in addition.

Orsinio spoke resolutely. “It won’t be able to ensnare me like that again. Though our mental connection cannot be broken, I’ve disrupted the dangerous alignment that allowed this to happen. None of our future meetings will be allowed to cross a certain threshold of closeness." No border shall be breached.
September froze in place. “You’re already planning to see it again?”
“Are you mad?” February shouted.
He smirked into the covers. “I can’t abandon my work because of one situation that went downhill, can I?”
The penultimate chapter of Cupbearer is up.

Poll about creating characters for a game really has me thinking about my methods because while I don't usually situate a character in the world/create a full backstory beforehand I feel like I need such a strong sense of who a character is, how they behave, and at least the skeleton of why they behave like that that I usually get bored and feel like I'm playing some flat nothing when I don't have that. I guess that isn't the same as having a fully rigid concept, especially since I'm happy to change things radically in conversation with a game when it's going well, but it's still enough of a distinct Guy Who Already Exists In My Brain I couldn't call it a loose concept. And usually when things go well for my looser concept characters and I develop them during a playthrough I just hit a point partway through where it's like... cool! I have completed the concept for this character now, I can stop playing and relocate them to a Real Story. They almost never feel like they fit right until they're in something where they're starting from that state, haha. I'm like this with tabletop stuff as well. I'm not always the ten page backstory guy but if I'm not at least coming in with some needlessly complex portrait of personality the character is not going to stick for more than a oneshot. Just doesn't interest me to play! I don't feel like I'm seeing through their eyes yet. Can't get in the right zone mentally. I think that's what it's really about for me- a loose concept is rarely immersive, and without that immersion I just struggle to feel like the actions are coming from the character instead of me and come together into a cohesive story about the character (rather than one about me pushing buttons).
