I recently stumbled across a theory that Bee isn’t even the ORIGINAL Bee, she’s just a robot her father created to replace the real human Bee who presumably died years and years ago (Bee did say in the birthday episode that she got really sick one time, so there’s actual canon evidence to back this up). Honestly I really dig this one bc the angst potential is huge, it really fits into canon so well regarding Bee’s general behavior and how others view her. And her being a robot is already so isolating for her, but imagine if she’s just a replacement--that’d probably make her feel even more out of place than anything, which is why she connects with Puppycat so well.

Also tying this into the reboot, if the Bee that Puppycat babysat for a day was the original human Bee, that would make things SO sad. Imagine being on the run in a “monstrous” form for years and finally returning to one of the planets you feel safe to hide on...only to find out that the girl you once looked after is dead and has been replaced with a robot. And that robot is well aware that her entire existence is a feeble attempt at preserving what once was, that she’s not human, that she’ll never live up to the original human version of herself. Oof.

Maybe Puppycat originally decided to stay with her out of pity, but over time grew to really care about her as her own person. And I feel like Bee would definitely appreciate that 🥺

i hope the folks planning on resurrecting Supernatural [re:jackles] are taking notes on what's happening in the 9-1-1 fandom and with this Buck character right now. i know next to nothing about this show, but i do know that 'Buddie' is a major mlm ship between two guy friends and that this guy Buck - a strong macho man in his 30s - has just been canonised as BISEXUAL! with a MLM kiss! after SIX seasons! the subtext was there all along but the network was not on board, by the sounds of it; a change of network saw this queercoded middle-aged male character finally set free. no more subtext, no insinuations that could be interpreted one way or another, just undeniable beautiful text. 

i'm thrilled for everyone in the 9-1-1 fandom and for this positive queer rep in media! here’s hoping other shows will take note - namely Supernatural. Dean has 15 seasons of queer subtext under his belt and he would now be in his mid 40s. it’s never too late to canonise a queer character. characters are never too old to realise they’re queer. this is such an important message, and while i can’t speak for the buckgirls i can say that queer deangirls have been relating to his queercoding for almost 2 decades, including 15 seasons of bi!Dean and 12 seasons of Destiel. seeing a character like Buck come out as queer after SIX seasons (i’ll keep saying it, it’s fucking amazing) is such a win not just for queer folk but for good storytelling; i know there were likely obstacles in finally getting here, and it would be great if queer characters could come out whenever they want instead of struggling against tptb, but six seasons has given the show a wonderful amount of time to delve into Buck’s character and journey with him through various plotlines. as a fan of the slow burn for romance, and a good amount of time for character development to play out, i love that there’s six whole seasons of Buck backstory to delve into for the leadup to his bisexual canonisation.

happy bi day Buck, may you inspire more creative control to cater to the characters instead of some suit in an office who’s never even seen your show and doesn’t care about your journey and narrative freedom. today is a great day.

I don't get ship wars.

Let people ship what they want and who they want and how they want. I have a knack for shipping pairs that are technically not canon and have often been told, "Oh that's never happening." And I'm like, "Yeah honey I know, which is why I use my imagination to write or read fanfiction." Or in the cases where I have a canon ship, someone likes a non-canon ship better and comes at me.

But seriously, there is no reason to get your undies in a twist cause my ship is different from yours.

I mean, I ship what I want to ship and I mind my own business. Whether my ship is canon or not, it's my ship and I will not sink it to satisfy you.

The ‘American Feelings Yakuza’ article reminded me of something that’s been brewing in my head for a couple years about Japanese media and the rise of antis.  Like, there's always been inflammatory bad faith criticism of characters and ships due to ship wars, but I think antis in the modern sense started to really gel when we started getting really obviously anime-inspired American cartoons by creators who actually grew up on anime and the fandoms that emerged around them (See Avatar, Korra, Steven Universe, and Voltron: Legendary Defender).  

Like, it’s not wrong to like those shows, but I do think they tended to be especially efficient spawning vats for modern anti rhetoric and behavior for some reason, and I think the way the Japanese cartoon aesthetics were removed from their original context (Japanese culture, especially their post-war period) and sanitized for the consumption of American viewers that lent itself to batshit, self-entitled fandoms who spread their attitudes like a mind-virus.

I think that it's possible to believe that being the love interest is good for a black female character, that spuhura is a popular ship that has the fandom in a chokehold, that fans made it even more beautiful, and still recognize that 2009 spuhura wasn't greenlighted out of love for black feminism but rather to try to extinguish any gay readings of spock

She has auburn hair that's always in a messy bun. Now I don't know who she is BUT I WANT HER. Ramona is higher than A list as the scariest person there. While she is like C or D. She's been suspended a few times. But Romona holds the record for the most in school history lol
