Rare Alu Rant About Fandoms bc I never say shit:
Sue me, but getting into a fandom just for the intention of becoming popular is so weird to me.
Like sure you want a lot of people to see what you make. Because making something for the fandom should be seen! That’s dope as hell.
But you’re gonna lose inspiration real fast when you find out content creation takes a lotta work but more often than not comes with little reward.
I hold firmly the belief that Fandom is for making content for the pure reason of just because you can.
✨the joy of free will to bring your delusions to life so others can indulge in their delusions as well✨ Kinda vibes? Yanno?
I never started making HL content with the idea in mind that I’d reach 9k followers on tiktok. And I ain’t gonna lie it’s daunting for me. Specially as someone whose always just made shit for whatever reason without even posting it. But The videos that got me views and followers on tiktok, were made because I was high and wanted to laugh. And I’d figured “what the hell, this made me laugh….Maybe it will make someone else laugh.” And I’m glad it did.
And now I float around just making stuff. I still make whatever I want tbh. I do my best to give credit where credit is due in what I make. And yeah I’ve done some fan service videos and writing here and there because hey it’s fun for me.
I see so many posts or peoples bios saying that they’re working towards being popular in fandom and then their posts are what other people said or made on Twitter or tiktok or Vice versa and there’s often times there’s no real credit to original creators.
Don’t get me wrong, if it’s properly credited, AWESOME. Usually it’s not though, and that’s just wild to me. Because how are you expecting to get popular under your own name when you’re just reposting stuff.
That doesn’t make you a content creator.
A historical collector guess?? Because you’re like idk collecting all the stuff people made and what not onto a new page.
Idk dude. I just miss authenticity I guess. People making stuff and just being excited to show it.
Don’t get me wrong though it’s not all terrible on here and everywhere on the internet for fandoms. I’ve made close friends with other creators who feel and see fandom much the same. Just here to vibe and escape.
I’m not saying I don’t think views and followers and likes and notes or what have you, matter. I know they do. I get a lil confidence boost when something I make pops off. I feel proud.
But man it’s the intention of “ Im trying to be a popular creator” that rubs me the wrong way. Make stuff because you like it. Not because other people will. Doing whatever to get you likes wont bring the same satisfaction. And in more cases than not I see it backfiring and causing drama because, like I said it’s usually shit that’s copied or reposted.
Who knows maybe I’m just old and don’t understand bc I also see fandom and the work I’ve contributed as something I wouldn’t like boast about in real life. Because the reaction wouldn’t be positive. Like just for enjoying Hogwarts legacy I get teased in my daily life from acquaintances. It’s not totally negative. Buts it’s enough for me to know that YEAH 9k followers on tiktok don’t mean anything in the real world LMAO because at the end of the day, offline, I am still just a nerd whose daydreaming in her bedroom to escape reality.
I’m 24 dude. And I work in news. Shit is exhausting. Read a headline and you’ll see what I mean. And I just wanted to rant about it because it’s been bugging me since I joined fandom again last year.
But due to, idk my follower count and whatnot I always felt like I can’t or rather I shouldn’t speak my mind so much for fear of SOMEONE coming for me for something. And man I hate that feeling bc this bitch has opinions and I dislike the idea of feeling like others have control over it. But tbh eh. I wanted to rant. Just speaking into the void of the internet.
If you decide to send anon hate for my opinionated rant be ready for a meme bc I don’t have the mental capacity to take anything other than my IRL life responsibilities seriously lmao.

UUNMMMMMM uuuuuhhhhhhhhh Saihara . OR. raskolnikov. OR. idk. ranpo
you can't possibly expect me to be normal at the mention of saihara shuichi himself (_ _ ;)
My first impression
i'm gonna be fr the only thing i knew abt drv3 before playing it was the kokichi hate so the first time i saw him was. in the game. regrettably (bc i didn't get to form an opinion based off of the fandom but that might've been for the best. come to think of it) anyway i vividly remember tweeting a picture of him (during ch1. with the hat and all) captioned w something like "i want you" . so i think that explains it🚶
My impression now
I'm not as ill about him as i was before (mostly bc my dr hyperfix died and got replaced with chscr <\3) but he does things to me occasionally still. i guess it's fairly similar to my impression of him at the start? i mean obviously as the game progressed he changed in ways big or small but nothing much changed for me specifically. aside from not expecting the hyperfixation post introduction i kind of knew i would like him lots.. i've always liked detective characters i fear and his personality Not being a stuck up arrogant little shit as usually seen in popular detective media (coughs ******** ****** and his variants) surprised me but it did intrigue me further. anyway. tldr i fw him heavily
Favorite thing about that character
ohhh hm. i can't really choose but i think i would have to say his voice/VA (← gay ass thing to say) or his personality (← even gayer thing to say) joke answer: eyelashes 🤤
Least favorite thing
can i say nothing. like to be completely honest i don't. dislike anything about him? Aside from if kodaka wrote anything dogshit abt him (like the Imagery of kokichi's costume and whatnot. bc i genuinely cannot remember rn) there isn't anything probably orz
Favorite line/scene
CHAPTER SIX TRIAL i actually didn't play that far. i got spoiled halfway through ch3 and the disease got me etc BUT THE TRIAL ^_^ also the ch4 kokichi thing. smiles
Favorite interaction that character has with another
oughgh.. i really like this scene it lowkey made me cry 👍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also. yeah. mistranslation or not it's stuck in my brain forever srry
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A character that I wish that character would interact with more
RYOMA!!!!!!!!!!! there's. not actually a deep thought behind this i just think they should be friends. also ryoma makes me ill. <\3 (if you thought i was gonna say kokichi, WRONG! they interacted enough. even more and i will kill myself on national television)
Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character
. now if i say xiao from gnshn i think you will actually find me and kill me in my sleep so i'm not saying him (but i am also not Not saying him. srry) sunny omori maybe. or charles eyler helchar. TRANSGENDERISM fire font among. other things.
A headcanon about that character
gayyyyy 🫵 in all seriousness i cannot see him liking men or women depending on yuor gender hc (i know you fw transfem shuichi i agree with that. i also agree w tmasc shuichi so my point is i don't rlly think he's bi. lesbianism be upon ye idiot)
A song that reminds me of that character
:^) this one
An unpopular opinion about that character
ummm okay i think. i see all that stuff abt him loving coffee and. like okaaaay Sure he'll drink it to stay awake & whatever but i don't think he actually enjoys the taste of it. he's more of a tea person to me☝️obviously he doesn't have a sweet tooth but i don't think he's gonna enjoy six black coffees at fuckass o'clock in the morning ☠️ also i don't think he would be alt. both his music taste and clothing style he's just Not i fear
Favorite picture

6 12 and 13?
send a number for me to talk about one of the following topics! | accepting!
dash commentary
i love love LOVE dash comm. i think it's fun seeing people talk about a certain topic and it feels like it brings the rpc together... unless it's a chaotic topic like pizza discourse or soup discourse that has a lot of hot takes and opinions, but even THEN it's still fun to see people going at each other/agreeing, idk!! there's just a fun feeling of unity for us as writers even if our muses disagree on the topic at hand or whatnot. a lot of fun interactions have come from dash comm and i love it :'>
magic anons
i have a senior citizen discount card bc i remember being in the rpc at the PEAK of magic anons when they were extremely popular. to the point where some people would specifically state 'NO M!AS' in their rules (either out of personal preference or bad experiences with them in the past).
i had a fun one on my old shauntal blog before where the m!a took her gloves away, and my hc was that she used them to cover burn scars on her hands/arms. and it was kind of fun in a way bc she basically locked herself in her elite room while the other 3 members were so lost and confused as to wtf was going on. i dont THINK ive had any bad experiences with them personally, but i have seen m!as used for the purpose of being weird/gross towards some muses which isnt cool :/
promos
god do yall remember back when promos were almost like a mini resume. like '10+ years rp experience, english speaking, skype available on request, 5 years experience in the pokemon rpc' like. we REALLY were outlining all of our credentials for no reason LMAO. like hold on lemme just put down a reference on my promo too for u guys to contact they'll put in a good word for me i promise. im kinda glad promos have gotten a lot more simple nowadays - i feel like if people did the single icon style promo w some text 5+ years ago it would not go over well.... no one would rb that, it would just be 'lazy' back then but look at us now!!!

I wanna get into tmnt but I've got like no knowledge of it at all. where should I start?
interesting question! no tmnt iteration is like another, but each is enjoyable without the context of the rest (although its really fun to notice little callbacks and references between them), so id say theres no wrong place to start. for the most part!
if i had to pick one, id probably recommend starting with the 2003 animated series. it was my introduction to the franchise! so maybe im a little biased gkjdfg to me, and probably to a lot of tmnt fans of my age, its THE tmnt. its quite plot heavy and focuses more on the action and the story than the humor (but theyve still got jokes! in case thats important to you). can get REALLY dark for a 4kids show, but its not excessive in heavy content id say. this series is probably the MOST faithful to the original comic, which is why i think its a good one to get your basics together.
i feel like after this, the order in which you watch any other tmnt media doesnt really matter. id also like to say a few words about some of the more popular ones, in case theyre more your cup of tea. under the cut!
1987 animated series (the first one!) - a completely different vibe altogether. probably more immediately associated with the classic turtles by the general public, although i personally havent seen it. its a very lighthearted saturday-morning cartoon that focuses heavily on the humor aspect, although there is plot development as well. VERY long.
the original comic published by mirage studios - PERSONALLY AND HIGHLY SUBJECTIVELY i wouldnt recommend starting with this one, but it IS the original tmnt, so if youre the kind of person who likes getting into franchises chronologically, well it doesnt get any older than that. i havent read it myself (save for the first 2 chapters), but its quite different from the mainstream image of the turtles, so it might not be the best place to start for a casual fan, but definitely worth reading if you get really into the franchise. afaik it was originally a parody of classic superhero comocs and it can get really dark, something to keep in mind
honorary mentions! but not great to start with in my opinion!
idw continuity - i highly recommend reading this!!! probably better after having watched 2003 and other more classic tmnt media!!! the origins, everything, is completely different from the start, but its just. a good comic i think! a lot of physical violence, very action packed and can get REALLY heavy in case thats not your cup of tea. but also found family :-) this summary is all over the place bc i like it so much dkfjngd oh yeah and its still ongoing! tho it might take a while to catch up (if you do decide to read it im begging you please follow the official chronology please dont skip any of the side arcs and whatnot theyre all crucial to the story!!! the first 100 issues as well as all mini series that came out in that time period are compiled into 13 volumes of the idw collection. very convenient!)
2012 animated series - i dislike this one but its. interesting to study. definitely wouldnt recommend starting with this one tho if you can help it. i also just cant recommend it in general but im currently running on -2 hours of sleep so if you want a more detailed rundown, thats gonna have to wait till tomorrow
rise of the tmnt - a great show on its own but probably a bad place to start getting into tmnt because it turns the classics completely on its head and watching it first will probably make the other feel iterations very confusing and even wrong. it still follows the 4 turtles, april and splinter, but most other characters are unique to this show, and most classic tmnt characters only get 1-2 episode cameos
there are more tmnt media out there, but these are the biggest ones + i dont really know much about the rest so
anyways SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG feel free to ask more specific questions if need be and remember this is just my very subjective opinion and i dont claim that its entirely accurate!!!! im just one guy with just one experience!!!!! ok thank you for reading hope you have fun :-)

gentle thingy with the current t/100 resurgence. actually 2 things : i am still v sensitive ab bellamys death and still will not write about it and encourage people to Not talk to me about it / the very end of the show.
the main thing is that i know esp w/ t/100 there is A Lot of critique/hate that happens. i’ve lived through all of it as someone who watched from s2 on. there is a lot to be critical about i’m not going to deny that or try and argue otherwise BUT it can and has really sapped my energy and excitement over it so if u post on the dash pls just... tag it?? whether it’s over a ship or character or the show or even j/roth.

what is utahime’s role in the future? — a prediction (manga spoilers)
part 1 (unedited)
I WAS ABOUT TO POST IT BUT I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED IT AND I WAS SO HURT FR!!!!! I HAD REWRITE THIS ENTIRE THING </33
part 2 is here!
in this post, i will be analyzing the information we’ve been given about utahime so far to form a prediction about her future role in the jujutsu kaisen series. if you’re as interested in utahime’s character as i am, please feel free to keep reading :3 (i’ll also be talking about her relationship with gojo a bit too)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
soukatsu_ on twt!
Tumblr media
kaikaikitan on twt!
utahime iori is a semi-grade 1 sorcerer working as a student supervisor/teacher at kyoto jujutsu high school. she loves drinking beer and going to karaoke. she’s also close friends with shoko and she’s not particularly fond of gojo most of the time. what else do we know about her?
hates sweets (funny she’s the complete opposite of gojo)
she’s great at singing and it’s a huge part of her technique
squabbling with gojo became a reflex :3
everyone absolutely adores utahime
loves watching soccer and baseball
a terrible drunk (worse than naobito zenin)
gojo is her main source of stress
let’s dive into her personality and abilities!
Tumblr media
chapter 65
before i get into it, i think it’d be best if i were to explain the timeline because a lot of people seem to be confused about this one particular thing. utahime is born on february 18th, 1987. contrary to popular belief, she is not 3 years older than gojo. it is november 2018 in the story because gojo was sealed on halloween. if gojo was born on december 7th, 1989, that would mean that right now, he is only 28 years old. he has yet to turn 29.
the year is 2007. gojo satoru is a second year at tokyo jujutsu high school. the japanese school year begins in april which suggests that gojo is only 17 at the time (even if it’s not april, it doesn’t look like winter yet so it’s unlikely that he’s already 18). utahime is 20 because it is past february. she is a 2nd grade sorcerer at the age of 20. that’s not bad at all!
chapter 65 introduces young utahime and mei on a mission together within a cursed site. in real time, they’ve been gone for two days which is a cause of concern for gojo, shoko, and geto because the two haven’t contacted anyone since the beginning of their mission.  the two begin to suspect something is wrong because the hallway markers they’ve set in place disappeared, and no matter how far they travel within the halls, the end is nowhere in sight.  mei theorizes that the cursed spirit is overlapping the space as they travel forward.  utahime agrees with this speculation and proposes a plan to escape the cursed spirit’s grasp by moving erratically.  notice how she says that if one of them should escape, they can try to attack from the outside or call for help.  if utahime was not capable of inflicting damage on anything then she would have told mei to escape and attack if she can while she waited to be rescued.  however, she didn’t.  she included herself in the sentence which leads me to believe that she is capable of going on the offense if needed.
keep in mind that at this point in time, mei is a grade 1 sorcerer.  she is knowledgeable about all things involving jujutsu because she is experienced and skillful.  we can see this aspect of her character illustrated when she theorizes that the cursed spirit is messing with the space they’re in.  she chooses to go with utahime’s plan because she agrees that it’s the best action moving forward.  this verifies that utahime is an intelligent girl that’s able to get along with pretty much anyone.
Tumblr media
her intellect is demonstrated once again in chapter 79.  she was able to deduce the possibility of there being more than one traitor and the fact that one is probably a higher up.  she also narrowed down the mechamaru as the mole of kyoto not because he was acting suspicious but by process of elimination.  she thought thoroughly of his technique and how easy it would be for him to manipulate devices small enough to be undetectable.
sure you can argue that she should already know all her students’ abilities and whatnot but you have to admit that it’s hard trying to sniff out the traitor when no one is acting suspicious.  in addition to that, how did she know that there was a traitor in the top brass?  i would have never guessed that tbh LOL (maybe bc im an idiot).
okay, now that we have established that she’s intelligent, let’s answer a more important question.  is utahime weak?
Tumblr media
chapter 33
if gojo calls utahime weak, does that mean there is some truth to it?  well it is true that she is weaker than him because he’s the strongest and all.  in my opinion, he’s just teasing her.  he probably found that calling her weak is what really riles her up.  maybe i’ll talk about why he loves teasing her so much in a later post.  but anyway, gojo calls everybody and their mom weak.  he even said jogo was weak and we know how powerful that guy is.  gojo’s words alone do not indicate much about utahime’s power.  in fact, i don’t even think he has seen her use her technique yet.  he’s probably only ever heard of how it works.  this is what i think their conversation about her technique was like:
gojo: hm?  ur cursed technique is singing?  can u show me?
utahime: what!  no way!
gojo: why not?
*one of the classmates tells him that she can only use her CT once in a while because it consumes a lot of energy*
gojo: hahaha!  u have to conserve cursed energy to use ur CT?  why are u so weak, utahime?
utahime: i!  am!  your!  senpai!  respect!  me!
what i’m trying to say is that gojo loves poking fun of people.  we should not believe him when he calls someone weak because compared to him, everyone is weak.
this is a little off topic but let’s examine him telling her, “and you don’t have the nerves, utahime.”  i think he’s trying to say that there’s no way she’ll ever do something like that because she’s not the type to put her students in danger.  remember the soft expression and relieved smile on her lips when she said that she was glad the students were safe after the kyoto incident?  gojo was directly in front of her so not only did he hear her say that, but he could have seen the look on her face too.  even if he told her that she didn’t have the guts to betray the school to get on her nerves, he knew that utahime simply cared too much about the students so he ruled her out as a suspect right away.  this is why he ultimately decided to confide in her and ask her to help him.
i’m a person who loves over-analyzing things.  i really enjoy the dynamic between gojo and utahime.  they’ve known each other for more than 11 years and although they always bicker, there is an unspoken feeling of trust between the two.  gojo can do anything and everything by himself because he is truly the strongest person alive, but he still knows when to rely on others.  him deciding to entrust utahime with such a job implies that he believes in utahime’s abilities.
Tumblr media
chapter 52
she’s not using any cursed energy here--not to our knowledge at least.  this is just pure skill.  she was able to swiftly evade the swing from haruta.  he was surprised himself considering the fact that he was right behind her.  how do we know her CT isn’t speed?  after haruta swung at her, we can see that some of her hair got cut off.  if she was using her CT then speed should be her specialty.  she should have been able to completely avoid the attack altogether but she didn’t.  of course this isn’t a wow moment because jujutsu sorcerers should know how to dodge attacks, however, i’m just trying to get the point across that she’s not a defenseless person without her technique or others.  let’s not forget that semi-grade 1 isn’t a weak rank either.  you can’t simply be recommended to be a grade 1 sorcerer if you only can support others.
Tumblr media
chapter 48
i want to bring up this panel. it suggests that utahime and takuma are sorcerers who have not experienced black flash and therefore, do not understand the essence of cursed energy as well as those who have like gojo and nanami.  i find it strange how takuma and utahime were used to represent sorcerers who haven’t experienced it yet.  is the purpose to demonstrate that there is a clear difference in skill between adult sorcerers like utahime and takuma compared to gojo and nanami?  i could be nitpicking but the order of todo’s statement doesn’t line up with the sorcerers being shown.  let me explain in depth.  todo starts off by saying, “for those who have experienced black flash as compared to those who have not...” wouldn’t it make more sense to show gojo and nanami on the right side to represent sorcerers who have experienced black flash?  that was mentioned first, after all.  gojo and nanami should appear when todo says “for those who have experience black flash” while utahime and takuma should be shown right after to personify the second part, “as compared to those who have not.”  i’m just making it more complicated than it actually is LOLOL i’m sure it really just means they haven’t experienced black flash yet, which is completely fine.  i also find it fascinating how they used utahime to contrast gojo.  with nanami and takuma it makes sense.  nanami is someone takuma looks up to, he wants to gain nanami’s approval before he deems himself worthy of a promotion. what about utahime and gojo?  what’s the purpose of comparing those two together when it’s obvious that gojo knows more about the essence of cursed energy more than anyone else?  i might be delusional whoops
----
let me know what you guys think?  this is only a part 1 so i haven’t gotten around to answering the question.  i’m pretty much done with the second part, i just need to revise it a little.  i think after i post part 2, i’ll try to interpret all the gojo and utahime moments in the manga >.<

my deltarune (unpopular?) opinions (disclaimer: none of this is me acting like i am cooler than people who do like the mentioned popular characters i just like to talk and say things and do not want to come off as me being pretentious or am judging ppl who do like them. thank you)
i dont really like queen's battle theme like i hear it and think well idk its fine but it does not click with me as much as other utdr boss themes did. queen as a character is cool but im not sure i like her design quite that much, i think she has some previous relation to lancers dad which explains the resemblance? i heard it i havent seen the quote but anyways i want her to look a little more robotic and have a cool giant cloak or smth
i dont like ralsei as much as i did in chapter 2 it might mostly be the design bc i prefer his little fuzzball look and also his basic charm kinda wore off and i prefer susie more but even then i preferred her in chapter 1 compared to 2 (i like her eyeless look it was cool). also i didnt know this till after i beat chapter 2 myself but seeing like comics and theories abt kris possibly not liking ralsei and them being uncomfortable abt being "forced" to hug him now rubs me the wrong way like in an autistic way you understand
i dont care for berdley or spamton much like ppl making jokes abt them is fine i dont like hate them or anything i just prefer other characters over them like noelle and kris and lancer and whatnot. also kinda unrelated but when ppl were making kris/berdley into a thing and some ppl were like "lol what if the player made kris date berdley even tho they would hate it as a punishment" um. what is wrong with you

why do you think crit blogs exist in the first place? Other than the no parental love in their lives aspect or never having normal relationship with the media they supposedly “consume” why do people find pleasure in spewing out lies and far out conclusions based on a few clips from four different time periods in a cc’s career? It’s obsessive and unhealthy to engage in only negativity in that sense, only seeing one side of a coin, working to only reach nothing but a bullshit “it must be true” motive to plague everyone they are in contact with. Critical discussion is warranted when the topic is nuanced enough I get that, but actively trying to pursue the goal to ensure that “MY perspective of this person I know nothing about is RIGHT and I will make sure that you all know it based off the obscure words and statements they’ve said from months ago that they’re hiding Something that we’re all entitled to know” like it’s so unproductive and sad to think there’s actual blogs dedicated to doing that when all they need in reality is therapy.
GODD "why do you think crit blogs exist in the first place other than the no parental love in their lives aspect" SENDSSSS💀💀💀 i agree w everythinggg u said it's such an unhealthy way of coping with disliking something lmao
my thoughts under da cut😵
a pet peeve but i HATEE the term crit blogs it's way too nice and sophisticated sounding they're literally just hate blogs😭 (not @ u ik its used bc it refers to specific ppl LOL.) like criticism ≠ a cynical cesspool of hatred. anyway
i think it starts off w disliking smth popular/aspects of it and wanting agreement/validation? and also wanting to continue being engaged w the fandom/media (esp if u hate everyone but one cc lolll) instead of just dropping the whole thing (or recognizing its flaws.) so they seem to just kind of end up forming circles of people who have similar thought processes
just being in a group that generally thinks like u is gonna affect the magnitude of ur preexisting opinions and/or form totally new ones. like if im in a community that loves gnf (not the one i ‘main’ but a step away), it’s gonna make me feel confident in liking him too. but if i’m in one that’s constantly criticizing him, pointing out his flaws, talking about their dislike of him, etc, that’s gonna end up rubbing off on me lol. (which kind of seems like its happened to dream a lot but i digress.) especially if something later happens that annoys u and now the ‘criticism’ seems noteworthy. i see this a lot in fandom and honestly irl as well and if it doesn’t give u a new opinion, it at least strengthens/multiplies previous ones u had, and in isolated spaces tends to form selective exposure/an echo chamber. which is probably related to y so much ends up being taken so far
i also think disliking something popular tends to make ppl feel like they need a good explanation, so instead of just saying it’s not their thing/admitting to their individuality complex/etc they look for justification, which is where morality tends to get involved and they convince themselves the person they hate is legitimately a bad person. n then they look for and overemphasize/obsess over little specific things that help support their conclusion. which also now makes vile behavior okay LOL
idk what makes them wanna do it in public instead of just ranting in dms/on a priv twt or whatever but i’m gonna take a stab in the dark and say that if there’s enough ppl in ur circle thinking the same thing it starts to feel less like an opinion and more like it’s fact and correct and so acceptable to be public? which could explain y so many of them are always like “well you’ll see one day” or whatnot when referring to the general fandom, as if it’s an inevitable conclusion (since it’s the “truth”)
tbh mutual hate is like . a terrible thing to base a community off of LOL even without the extremes that ive seen gone to it seems pretty unsustainable? and exhausting lol. like if u think about it, running a fan acc basically means u think about its subject nearly every day (whether that be just getting a related notification and thinking about it for a bit or actually scrolling thru a dash of said content for hours.) but running a HATE account and thinking about smth u hate v often and for a long period of time seems awful, like you’d just get pissed off and hate it more as time goes on😟 no way that’s fun in the long run esp when ur convinced it’s the truth and it’s everyone else who’s blind, even the ppl that know the cc irl💀💀 that’s gotta b frustrating loll
TOTALLY WORD VOMITED LOLLL this is embarrassingly a lot of writing. idk if this answers ur question of what i think which HOPEFULLY wasnt rhetorical LOL but this is why i think these subcommunities form and how they get to the extremes they do. there are a million other factors depending on each individual situation as welllll these r just some general thoughts i had😵

hey there’s a long ass opinion about PTD under the cut bc apparently it triggered something in me, if you don’t care about bts and/or are here to hate don’t interact *mwah mwah*
don’t get me wrong i would DIE for bts and up until now i loved their american songs, i was the biggest apologist when my army friends were shitting on them. the american songs are funky and cool and give me serotonin and that’s all that matters tbh buttt. this has got to stop now for realsies.
i applauded hybe/bh and bts for wanting to prove that america is in fact racist and xenophobic (shocker) through releasing songs in both korean and english and seeing how they chart. of COURSE the english songs charted higher and are charting right now, Butter has just stayed its 7th week on #1. it’s a huge achievement and what they did with Dynamite was a big deal as well, so they have proved to the world the ugly truth that the language and the way the song is built do matter if you want to be as successful as white american artists and i LOVE that and i support that. both Dynamite and Butter have a simple structure, clear verses, bridges and chorus that are easy to identify, simple beats, the sound is similar to what america has known for decades, etc etc. they were both made to be played on the radio, they were both made with becoming summer anthems in mind, they are both simple and cheerful songs that people could listen to and smile and forget how horrible the world is right now, y e s. it’s fabulous and bts have given the people what they needed to hear. with PTD I understand that they wanted to make a song that would celebrate the end of the pandemic - that way, what started with Dynamite could sort of evolve and come to a close in a natural way. in that sense i can totally see why it needed to come out. but i’m mourning one thing and that’s the loss of quality.
there are fans who hated Dynamite, then they hated Butter even more and now under no circumstances can they get through the entire 3 and something minutes of PTD. i was a fan who really enjoyed Dynamite, liked Butter even better and now is extremely disappointed. so while some could say that it’s been getting progressively worse, i would say that none of the three were top notch bts we’ve been used to for the past 8 years but they weren’t tragic until now. with Dynamite, it was preceeded by MOTS7 that redefined what music is (except for the Sia feature) and brought the best bts song of all time (Black Swan). Dynamite was followed by BE, an entire comfort album of straight bangers. Life Goes On, like Dynamite, was made to comfort people, but it was written and done in a way that didn’t lack the typical bts vibe and artistry - not saying that Dynamite was bad, but just very different. more party and good time, less actual in-your-face “it’s going to be okay.” both were needed, both were needed to co-exist. made total sense.
then we got Butter and Butter is the PERFECT summer anthem and it would have been stupid of hybe not to want to follow their biggest US release thus far with another one for the summertime when chances of success are the largest. and it turned out to be really freaking cool; maybe the lyrics are a bit questionable but the sound makes up for what they lack. so: MOTS7 - Dynamite - BE - Butter. one proper comeback, one american single, then again and again. makes perfect sense. aaand now we got PTD. i’m not saying they’re jinxing the end of the pandemic but they totally are - i’m kidding ofc but ..also not? i just don’t get the timing. even the mv says 2022 and we’re currently halfway through 2021, so why was the song released right now? it feels like there’s a logical error here somewhere. maybe i’m missing something and need someone to enlighten me, but while the US has been successfully rolling out jabs, many if not most parts of the world are still hecking struggling. whatever progress there is, it’s small. but there is hope now bc of the vaccines, unlike last year, so yeah, okay. let’s sing about that hope for 2022 then. but I don’t get a hopeful vibe from the song at all. it’s like everything is over in the world the mv and the lyrics are presenting and suddenly everyone can go out and party and kiss each other and whatnot, and that’s simply not true. i know it probably sounds a bit ridiculous but that genuinely bothers me lol especially since both of the previous songs had a clear reason as to why they came into existence.
i guess i want that clear reason from PTD as well because I need to be reassured that this is just a phase, the american songs, the american lyrics, the american song structure, the exclusively american promo. you can make positive, light-hearted, funky songs and they can be good, but PTD just isn’t. and bts in my eyes are next level artists when it comes to sound, lyrics and choreography, so when i’m faced with the kind of creation that is PTD i can’t help but be disappointed, especially when we saw the light-hearted stuff twice already, three times if we include boy with luv.
let me be clear - i’m not expecting bts to be at the top of their creativity and the artistry that we’re used to all the time. i’ve always said that the world needs simple party songs, and i sincerely hope and believe that while bts release and promote these songs (that were not written by them as well) they get to rest and recharge to later release something that our brains won’t be able to comprehend after just one listen bc it will be that good. i want nothing more than the general public finally realising that bts are a bunch of super talented dudes who can dance super intricate choreos and sing the highest notes and rap the most quality verses, so when they succeed the most with and thus become most popular for songs like the three english ones, it really upsets me because i know what they can do. maybe the american general public have seen what they can do when they were promoting MOTS7, ON and Black Swan, maybe. idk, i’m not a specialist in the field, i’m not even american, but something tells me that no, they know them bc of Dynamite and now Butter. and i don’t think it’s good to be known for songs like that only. i’m afraid that they’ll need to redeem themselves one day because people will end up thinking they only do silly dancey-dancey songs and that’s really not fair. and ughhh it feels like armys look a bit stupid now because we’ve always said that we value bts for what it stands for, the message and the art and all the deep stuff, and now the general public will hear that and go ‘is that what you call art and deep lyrics?’ yeah. anyway, i know for a fact that this will not last forever and we will be getting a regular comeback soon. i’m happy that they get to rest creatively. i’m SO happy that they’re receiving the recognition they deserve, finally. i just hope people will be there to chart their korean songs when they release some too.

baby tell me about beffica <3
How I feel about this character: people who like, vehemently hate beffica and write at length about how she’s a terrible person like they’re the first one to come to this conclusion confuse me bc... Yeah? she’s obviously written to be a shitty person at first. i mean yeah of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you don’t owe anyone an explanation and whatnot but still, my god. i was about to end this with “anyway i don’t like, relate to her the same way some of her fans do but she’s a funky little potential criminal and criminally underutilized in more serious content-” but then i remembered i had a whole conversation last night about how i need to take a big step back from this fandom bc it’s gotten to the point where i’m like, keeping tabs on all the Big-Name Fans ™ just in case and i don’t need to explain why that’s worrying and now i’m looking at her like “oh god that’s me. oh jesus. oh god.” All the people I ship romantically with this character: i don’t think i have any?? @203y ‘s filbeff art is really cute and i typically like rude girl/cute clumsy guy ships buuut i haven’t seen enough content as a whole to make it really stick and as previously established i’m not a super adventurous shipper. My non-romantic OTP for this character: i want her, filbo, and the journalist to form a Mildly Dubious Vigilante Trio. it’s a choice dynamic. My unpopular opinion about this character: ...at this point i think i just don’t interact with the fandom very much bc i don’t actually know what the popular beffica opinions are. same for most characters, actually. One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i feel like she’d get a lot less shit if we had gotten to spend time with her Outside of side quests involving digging up other people’s secrets, but that’s about the only thing i can think of. My OTP: none for now! My OT3: none for now!

I've no idea if you saw the Everybody's Talking About Jamie movie but it felt pretty unnecessary. I know people are way more likely to watch a movie than a pro-shot but it did things exactly the same as the pro-shot did. It added nothing. Pick one or the other, we really didn't need both here. (part 900 of my petition to make all musical adaptations into animated movies because it works so well in that medium where we're already suspending disbelief for the singing people/moving illustrations and it's beautiful and I love them except I think this is too pop-y to really work animated even. This and Six, what is up with super pop-y musicals coming out of the West End to appeal to tiktok kids before tiktok was even really popular and the songs are just not great....That's more the fault of pop music than any specific writers though; I hate pop.) There's maybe something to go off on in that ramble, if you'd like.
congrats on finding a musical i know pretty much nothing about to ask me about my opinions
in so far as i have not either heard or seen ETaJ (in movie, soundtrack, or stage show format), i think a movie that is pretty close to a pro shot is not a bad thing at all, especially if the show does not already have a good available pro shot. of course i don't actually know if ETaJ has a good pro shot available already or not. if it does, i'm inclined to agree with you to the extent that a film should present the show in the most effective way possible inherent to the medium, and the mediums of film and stage performance are different. a pro shot is film, technically, but generally a good pro shot tries to be as objective as possible in capturing a stage performance while also balancing the need for close ups and a more restricted set and such. movies do operate differently, and directors/editors/DPs can get a lot more creative in how to portray the same material as a stage show, and capture it in ways unique to the medium. but a well-made, if underwhelmingly-executed (too similar to a pro shot), film is still better than a shitty film, imo, even if a pro shot exists as well.
i think pop music does have a place in modern theater (really pop music has always been at the forefront of musical theater, since musical theater has existed, it's just that what is considered 'pop' changes so much over the decades). however, of course, neither you nor i are required to like it. i don't generally hate it, and i think at times it can be used effectively. but likewise it is far from my favorite genre of music, and bc i have my own personal snobby tastes i wish there was more other genres represented in the modern musical theater sound. but i guess then it's not surprising why my cup of tea tends to be more indie theater these days than mainstream broadway/west end. others can have their Sixes and their Mean Girls, while you and i can have our Onegins and whatnot.

Hiya! I’ve seen you talking about ao3 a lot and up until recently I agreed with many of the posts you’ve been reblogging, but I think you have a little bit of a misinterpretation about why people r presently pissed off at ao3?
Sure, many people (perhaps even most) are angry for the usual puritanical reasons that you’ve been discussing, and I agree that for the most part fiction is fiction and idc what anyone does so long as I can filter it all out. You do you and all that.
But the most recent swell of criticism is bc ao3 has refused to take down rpf (real person fic) smut of minors—not fictional characters, real life children who happen to be particularly popular right now. The specific fic that spawned recent outrage is about a minecraft YouTuber/Twitch streamer who’s 16 years old, but obviously there’s many more which include his friends and other similar instances of rpf involving children.
I don’t think it’s a slippery slope to set the boundary at “don’t write about actual living children fucking” and to pretend as if this criticism of ao3 is equivalent those who want to wipe out all taboo topics or troubling fics involving fictional characters is just absurd. These are real people, real children, who are directly affected by people sexualizing them, especially if it’s left unchecked and allowed to happen more and more.
I hope you can understand where I’m coming from. Again, if this were just the same fandom bullshit over again, I’d fully agree with your opinion; I’m telling you this in the hopes of informing you more about the situation.
Ohh I didn’t know about this particular bit. First of all, let me just make it clear - that’s the most disgusting shit I’ve ever read - and I’m a die-hard “let people ship what they want” person. This sheds a new light on the whole thing.
Personally, i never liked the concept of real person fic. I see a lot of fics about bands like Rammstein where the members hook up and whatnot just as characters in fic do and not only it is not my cup of tea, it actually squicks me.
I wasn’t part of the Dan and Phil fandom generation but i do remember hearing about them being super uncomfortable with people shipping them, as I would be if I were a vlogging with my friend and people suddenly started writing stories about us falling in love/kissing/having sex ect etc.
The thing is, I don’t know if messing with the tags is even an effective form of protest - Ao3 already had a nearly finished, now released new skin that hides excessive tags. Anyway, that’s not the point.
It’s a complex situation. Older fandom people remember and dread events like the strikethrough - tons of stories lost forever because the “think of the children” crowd didn’t want anyone reading or writing smut fics about anne rice’s vampires or something, mainly driven by homophobia.
The Ao3 was built to be a space safe from censorship, and I, as an author of themes such as torture, abuse, gore, etc, am glad that my work won’t be suddenly pulled out thanks to their team of lawyers and their flexible terms of use. I believe that their issue with censoring these works is falling into a slippery slope of “ok so if you blocked rpf now you have to ban other ‘wrong’ content such as noncon/dubcon, abusive relationships, etc etc.” and then suddenly you can’t write anakin/padmé content anymore no matter how OOC bc he choked her to death in canon.
I have no answers for this particular conundrum. Like, me, personally, I would ban rpf. It’s in poor taste and there are actual living, breathing people whose lives could be affected by that. If I found a fic where someone had written my bff and I having raunchy, explicit sex, I would feel awkward being around them.
The whole ship-and-let-ship policy means - at least to me - “let people write what they want, these fictional characters are fictional and therefore they don’t care” and that argument just doesn’t hold up when it comes to rpf.
TL;DR (bullet points for easier reading):
Real Person Fiction is objectively harmful, character fanfic isn’t.
Yes, I get that being traumatized makes one want to write dark shit to process their pain. Been there, done - and still do - that. BUT if I write the billionth fic of Bucky Barnes getting tortured/maimed/raped there isn’t a real life Bucky who’s gonna read it and be grossed out of his mind or possibly traumatized. Thats the difference between fic and rpf
I don’t think fucking with the tags is an effective form of protest. No, I don’t know what is, but i have a few thoughts:
Maybe not giving reads, kudos or comments to this kind of fic is a start. Reporting these fics upon finding them outside of Ao3 (i.e: on twitter), too.
Report any and all attempts to send these fics to the kids themselves, they shouldn’t have to see/deal with this crap (seriously, have y’all learned nothing from the whole avengers mess, where ppl would send graphic porn art to the actors??), don’t do that shit! Aside from being abusive and gross, that’s a whole ass fucking CRIME. These are kids!!!
I guess it’s more or less this. I hope this gets sorted out soon. As I say, I would rather if Ao3 just removed the rpf option of their website. After all fanFICTION is supposed to be written about... well, fiction. Not real people, much less children. Yikes.

Have you seen ELEANOR ALBRIGHT? LEO is in HER SOPHOMORE year. The BUSINESS MAJOR is 20 years old & is a VIRGO. People say SHE is CLEVER, INQUISITIVE, NARCISSISTIC and COLD. Rumors say they’re a member of CALLOWAY SOCIETY. I heard from the gossip blog that SHE LEFT HER FRIEND TO DROWN IN A LAKE AFTER HE OVERDOSED ON OXYCODONE AND CONSPIRED IN FRAMING IT AS A SUICIDE SO SHE WOULDN’T GET CAUGHT UP IN AN INVESTIGATION.
tw: drowning, tw: death, tw: alcohol, tw: drugs, tw: suicide tw: grief
hi u guys !!!! my name’s nina (she/her), and i’m sososo excited to meet/rp with all of you :’)) below i’m gonna list some things about leo and whatnot and yea!!!
so eleanor ‘leo’ albright was adopted by new york senator, lucas albright and his celebrity socialite wife, harriet valentine at age 6, born initially to a single mother and then having grown up in foster care until the albrights adopted her
leo had a very confusing childhood, to say the least
although she knew she wasn’t the “outcast” within her adoptive family, she couldn’t help but feel that way
she never mainly knew why she was adopted? Considering her parents were never necessarily affectionate towards her, she ultimately concluded that her adoption was a ploy to make her parents seem charitable and as if they were do-gooders, having adopted a child from a “broken” background to give them a better life
ALSO to add to the confusion, leo faced a lot of identity issues culturally considering she only grew up around.............white people
but anyway !! leo was not only trying to make her parents proud as she was growing up, but she was also vying for their love and affection in the ways she figured would work… always looking perfect, getting perfect grades, overall being the ideal child
the opposite of what her wildcard sister darby did
leo tried to follow in her brother’s footsteps, but no matter how hard she tried, she would never be able to garner the attention that her father endlessly gave him
nothing was ever enough -- her mother was very caught up in her own problems with alcoholism and her father, as said before, was too infatuated with james to pay leo much mind
of course, her parents proudly showed her off at public events and social gatherings, but that, as we know, doesn’t equate to love and affection
regardless of how leo felt, the media ate this up… she became somewhat of the “golden child” in new york’s elite society
this lead to leo becoming a narcissist in the lowest of keys
since she couldn’t get the adoration she craved from her parents, she looked to the media to give it to her
at 14, right before she was about to enter high school, the real golden child of the family, her older brother james, passed from a brain tumor
not being able to cope with the suffocating environment that her household had now created, leo somehow persuaded her parents to permit her to attend knollwood boarding school in connecticut (one of the most prestigious in the country)
leo, being incredibly bright, naturally excelled at pretty much everything in high school. she always made most top honor roll, captain of the soccer team, and was the editor-in-chief for her school’s newspaper
that being said, the girl quickly fell into the more popular, exclusive, elite crowd
it made sense, right? the girl was wealthy, beautiful, smart, acerbically witty, and came from quite the influential family
leo became the definition of “work hard, play hard” – weekdays, she’d be holed up in her dorm or the library studying, and weekends, she’d be popping percs and blacking out (and of course, she only partied with those who would have just as much to lose as her… that’s how she stayed out of scandals)
flash forward to her senior year of high school, it was time to apply for college, leo (to no one’s surprise) was accepted into the business school at yates university
june came around and leo, like the rest of her peers, considered herself invincible – the world was her oyster and she was about to go and pave her way in it
one night, leo and her friends decided to spend the night at a member of their crew’s lake house
of course, they got a little rowdy with a whole assortment of drugs and alcohol
one thing led to another, and one of her good (and highly intoxicated) friends fell off the edge of the dock and into the lake
this sent everyone, especially leo, into a frenzied panic
she claimed someone had to save him or that they had to go to the police or something until somebody else said it would be easier to assume he was dead/let him drown because if they went to the police, they would get be drug tested and face more significant consequences… she namely remembers hearing, “why should we suffer for his mistake?”
of course, they had to do more to cover their tracks… one of leo’s close friends suggested they frame the drowning into looking like a suicide. and they did. leo, having an incredible talent for imitating anyone’s penmanship and beautiful words, was pressured into forging the note. and she did. she heard it, her own words as someone else’s, read at his funeral.
and that shit haunts ! her !
anyway, leo moved forward with life (or tried) and never spoke to her parents, a therapist, her friends, anyone about the incident. she prays that one day, she’ll forget about it
doesn’t help that her parents never really spoke to her about it (or speak to her) in general
rly homegirl needs some therapy
but ANYWAYSJAKJS
the thought of attending yates was indeed the only thing that kept leo going through the summer after her senior year… like she honestly swore to herself that things would be different because they had to be, right??
that being said, leo does not party as much as she used to because she sort of associates alcohol and party drugs with that night… but that doesn’t go to say she NEVER parties anymore
like when she does… she goes hard. probably too hard. but she tends to steer clear of hard drugs now bc of her mother & sister and overall it’s just not rly her thing now ........ growf perhapth
she’s also pretty reserved and keeps to herself ...... like she’s still social and talks to ppl and has a lot of surface level friendships but . she doesn't rly share her thoughts and opinions mostly bc of her father essentially telling her ppl don't care ab what she has to say like that HDSJHDSJ fuck lucas albright rights
also… leo doesn’t necessarily have a passion for business? tbh she’s really doing it to appease her father because “an investigative journalist isn’t a fit career path for someone of your prestige, eleanor”
ANYWAY, as a result of all she’s gone through, it is quite difficult for her to make like sincerely deep connections because she’s either afraid of being used or losing people.. she kinda cold..... but shes mad eloquent and polite and hardly ever like Mean to people unless she has a reason to be
but ! if you do win her over, she’ll remain loyal to you for the rest of time and will genuinely always have your back
random facts: shes a very avid reader ..... n for some reason was rly into shakespeare at one point idk.....
also like a pretty good cook? idk pt 2
ok that's all i fink
but that’s pretty much it !!! i lowkey need to tweak and whatnot but here’s the gist of my little trash child leo :`) if you wanna plot slide into my dms or like this and i’ll go to you!!!! okay thank u love u bye

A Cat and Spider Game
A/N: For a really long time i could not get the idea of making a Black Cat Reader x Spider-Man fic out of my mind so i finally decided to make one. Black Cat has really white hair so for the purpose of this fic, when you’re dressed as your alter-ego (Black Cat) you’ll be wearing a platinum white wig. I just wanted to say that from the beginning bc that’s just how Black Cat’s character looks and also i feel like it’d actually help keep your secret identity a secret if you didn’t have platinum white hair on your civilian persona as well lol. When writing this i was thinking about the Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 game but tbh this can also fit in for Tom’s version of Spider-Man too since they’re both still Peter Parker anyways, it’s just that in this story he’s older. This is also a college AU so all the characters in here are about 20 years old. With that said not everyone you has powers, just you and Peter so far but i guess we’ll see what happens no? This is my first ever Marvel fic so i’d reeeaaalllyyy appreciate some feedback on this and if you’d like a second part just shoot me an ask or like and reblog and whatnot :)
I do not own Spider-Man’s character or any of these characters (except you i think?). I hope you enjoy!!! <3333

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Making your way through the cluttered dormitory halls, you sigh in satisfaction as you not only finally reach your assigned suite but are greeted with silence and emptiness. You’ve arrived before any of your other roommates. You actually know who one of your roommates is going to be but only because you’ve dormed together last semester and got along so well that you’ve requested to dorm together again. Still, you’ve always made it a personal mission to be one of the first to arrive on campus on moving in day. Mostly just so you can pick out your room, settle in, enjoy some alone time, and overall begin preparations for the beginning of the semester and your “other” plans.
A few hours pass and in that time you’ve managed to get a good chunk of your stuff unpacked and set up in your room. Wanda, your previous roommate, also arrived, said hi, and settled herself in. The two of you are still waiting for your third and final roommate to arrive.
Deciding to take a break, you grab the Daily Bugle newspaper you picked up earlier on the way to the dorms and plop down on your freshly done bed.
You stifle a laugh as you read the headline in J. Jonah Jameson’s voice.
“MASKED MENACE SPIDER-MAN STILL TERRORIZING CITY!”
They bring him back for one piece and of course he decides to make this the headline.
You continue to peruse the many articles in the newspaper and stop as you find the one you’ve been looking for.
“No new leads on New York’s newest criminal police are calling ‘Black Cat.’”
Criminal.
By definition according to google, ”a person who has committed a crime.”
Yes, a criminal is technically a bad person. However, you would argue that there are bad people and then there are worse people. Personally, you don’t feel as if you fall onto the worse branch.”
“As if I ever even actually hurt anyone,” you begrudgingly comment to yourself. “Rich people don’t count so, technically, I never did hurt anyone.”
You haphazardly flip the page of the magazine you were browsing when you hear suddenly hear a knock on your door prompting you to look up.
“Come in,” you say and in enters your roommate Wanda along with another girl.
“Hey (Y/N), this is Gamora,” she gestures to the tall girl next to her, “it’s her first year at Empire State and she’s our new roommate.”
“Oh,” you sit up from your bed and walk up to the two women to properly greet your new roommate. “Hi, I’m (Y/N),” you smile at Gamora as you shake her hand.
“You showed her around the suite?”
“Mmhmm,” Wanda nods.
“Cool. So first year, huh? How you liking the campus so far?”
Gamora hesitates her response, “I’ve seen a lot of it since I got lost finding my way to the right dorm building yet I still don’t think I’ve seen all of it. But, so far it looks really… “
Both Wanda and you interject.
“Opulent?”
“Preppy?”
“Yes, actually. No offense.”
You exchange an amused smile with Wanda, “None taken, this is a pretty preppy and opulent school but it’s got some good people in it. Also some bad people, but that’s everywhere you go really. Luckily for you though, you now have us to navigate your way through Empire State.”
“This is mine and (Y/N)’s second year at here so we know the terrain and its people pretty well,” Wanda elaborates.
“Speaking of terrain, have you had a chance to go to The Cool Bean Cafe?” you ask.
“No, but it sounds like a popular cafe.”
“Unfortunately it is a popular cafe. Not unfortunate for the owners, the sweetest old couple by the way, but kinda unfortunate for us in that it often gets crowded. But y’know,” you glance at your watch, “it’s only one-thirty right now, people ought to be busy unpacking and whatnot at this time. Do you guys want to wanna go now? It’d be the perfect chance to get to know each other better, my treat.”
“It’s always a yes from when the cafe is involved,” answers Wanda.
“Doesn’t sound like it could be terrible. I’m in.”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Fortunately for all of you, The Cool Bean Cafe is only moderately crowded today so you and the girls were able to find a table to sit at. You spend most of your afternoon chatting with them and, to yours and Wanda’s delight, even witnessed Gamora genuinely laugh a few times. Okay she laughed once and briefly smirked one other time time but it was still silently agreed between you and Wanda that those were some pretty monumental moments shared with your new roommate. You did learn a lot about her too. Apparently it was Gamora’s dad who really pushed her to apply to this school. She wasn’t planning on attending upon acceptance, partly because of the move she’d have to make from Virginia to New York, but she was offered a full scholarship and her dad convinced her to attend. Afterall, Empire State University is a pretty highly esteemed school. It couldn’t be all that bad, she figured. Her major is astrophysics and she’s decided she wants to take on a second concentration but hasn’t decided on one yet.
Gamora learned a lot about you and Wanda as well. She learned that you and Wanda were roommates for your first semester at Empire State. Because there was no other roommate, you two had the whole suite to yourselves and became very close. She learned that Wanda has a twin brother named Pierto but he’s currently playing professional soccer in Sakovia. Wanda is an international student from Sakovia and is pursuing a psychology major with a minor in Sakovian studies. You were born and bred in Queens, New York and your major is journalism but you haven’t yet picked out a second concentration.
Wanda was explaining to Gamora the locations of the buildings in which her classes are going to be held in when you get a email notification from your phone.
“Shit,” you lowly mumble.
“Is everything alright?” Wanda inquires.
“Yeah, it’s just an email from my film studies professor. Apparently he believes that ‘Teamwork makes the dream work’ so as part of our weekly assignments he’s paired everyone in the class into pairs of two to complete the assignments together.”
“(Y/N) loves working with people,” Wanda sarcastically comments to Gamora and to both of yours and Wanda’s surprise, she actually chuckles at the joke.
“Does it say who you’re paired with?” Gamora asks.
“Yeah, he provided a list with the email, I’m checking right now……. Peter B. Parker.”
“Hopefully he’s not an asshole,” Gamora takes a sip from her coffee.
“Fortunately he’s not,” you put away your phone and take a sip of your coffee before elaborating. “I used to go to high school with him. We never talked because I was really busy with stuff at home and our after school activities never collided. He’s super smart though, we had a few classes together and I know he was in the school’s robotics club for a while as well as the academic decathlon team. Trust me, the guy is brilliant. Plus, from what I heard, he’s apparently a total sweetheart. I don’t think I have much to worry about.”
“You sure seem to know an awful lot about a boy you’ve never spoken to,” Wanda complacently coos before blowing at her tea and drinking it.
“Y’know, I have to agree with Wanda there,” Gamora raises her eyebrows.
“Could it be you harnessed a crush for this Peter guy back in the old high school days?” Wanda twirled her cup in hand, smirking but not looking at you.
You playfully scoff, “Y’know you treat your roommates out to one of the finest cafes within walking distance and how do they thank you? Oh yeah they don’t, they interrogate you instead,” you tsk and slowly shake your head side to side. “In all honesty though, no I did not harbor a crush for Peter Parker. Believe me, with the stuff I had going on at that time with my family and myself, boys were the last thing on my mind.”
“I feel that,” Gamora nods. “Also, do all professors send emails days before the first class?”
“Some professors do but not all of them, which is why you have to be really vigilant with your emails. I’ve ignored them for most of my life, but trust me you’re gonna have to pay attention to them from now on.”
Wanda nods as she downs the rest of her tea. “Speaking of vigilance, Gamora, have you yet heard of the masked vigilante swinging through our streets?”
Gamora shrugs, “A little actually. I overheard a few students talk about him when I was looking for the dorm building. Apparently he often literally swings by our campus and goes by…. Spider-Something?”
“It’s Spider-Man,” Wanda chuckles. “There’s some mixed opinions of him in this city but for the most part he saves lives, helps people in need, and fights crime. He’s a hero. Have you heard about the theories?”
“No. There’s theories about this guy?”
“Oh, there are so many theories about his origins and his identity. Some people think he’s an alien who snuck in through the vortex that opened in the 2012 attack here, but others argue that maybe he’s actually just a person with advanced technology. Some people even think he actually attends here because of often he seems to pass through the campus. Personally, I don’t think that’s true. Simply seeing him pass by the school a lot is not enough to support that theory and being in college while maintaining a job is hard enough. I cannot imagine a person trying to maintain a job, along with their grades, and a crime fighting alter-ego on the side. I just think he passes through here as a shortcut to someplace else, we are in a very big city after all.”
“Wow, people seem to be really fixated with this Spider-Guy,” says Gamora.
“(Y/N),” Wanda calls for your attention. “You’ve been awfully quiet on this topic. Don’t you have any theories of your own about the Spider-Man’s identity?”
“Not really,” you lie. “I mean as a journalist major in New York, it’s impossible to not write about him, especially with all the recent crime that’s been going on here, but outside of that I don’t really think much about him.”
“Wait, so there’s frequent crime happening around here? God, I really should’ve done more research before just moving here,” Gamora shakes her head.
You lightly laugh at Gamora’s reaction, “Don’t worry it’s not really that bad. Lately what’s been happening is a string of robberies but whoever’s doing it seems to be targeting the homes of the very rich or the places only the very rich can afford so we have nothing to worry about.”
“It still amazes me that the police still have no lead as to who the thief could be,” Wanda comments. “The investigation has been going on for at least two months now and already four homes have been robbed. Whoever has done that must be very affluent right now.”
You hesitate for a moment but deep down you can’t help but wonder and ask, “Do you think that, y’know whoever robbed those homes, that they earned the loot?”
Wanda furrows her brows at first but takes a few seconds to ponder her answer, “Well, morally no because stealing is wrong. However, the people this person decided to target, they’re already insanely wealthy with more money than they could ever spend in one lifetime. Not to mention that the thief is so adept at what they do that no one has any clue as to who they could be so… I guess in some ways… yes, I’d say they earned their loot but I still think that stealing is wrong.”
You hum in thought, “That’s a good point. What do you think Gamora?”
“I agree that it’s not morally correct to steal but if this person is as good as you say they are then, I guess they do deserve to have their earnings. It’s not exactly easy to baffle the cops, normally they have at least one clue. But, it also makes me wonder why are they doing this, the thief I mean. Is it because they’re good at it or because they need the money or both? Guess we’ll never know.”
“Those are good questions, though,” says Wanda. “It does make me wonder about the thief’s motives. What about you, (Y\N), do you think the thief earned their prize?”
“Honestly, yes. I do believe he or she earned their prize. I get that it’s not morally right to steal but, according to the reports no one was harmed during the robbery. No one was even aware anything was stolen until the morning. And as you said, Wanda, the targets of this thief have more money than they could ever use in a lifetime so it’s not like the thief is preying on the less fortunate. As for the motive, we really can’t know without directly asking the thief. But my guess would be that it’s a combination of both the need for it and the confidence boost they must get from the police’s frustration at their lack of leads to his or her’s identity. As if stealing from a bunch of rich duds is the worst thing a person can do, though. There’s bigger issues than some rich people missing a couple of priceless artifacts. But I guess that could just be my bias against rich people speaking,” you tilt your head to the side and lightly laugh.
“If I hadn’t already known about your hatred for rich people I sure would know now,” Wanda awkwardly laughs.
“Yeah, I kinda went off on a tangent there. Sorry about that,” you briefly look down before changing the topic. “Hey, do y’all wanna get ice cream and maybe show Gamora around the campus more? My treat.”
“Someone woke up in an incredibly generous mood today,” says Wanda.
“I’m all for the tour of the campus but since you’ve already paid for the coffee you don’t have to buy me ice cream,” adds Gamora.
“It’s not a problem guys, really. My mom got a bonus at her job so she decided to treat me to some extra cash and now I’m deciding to treat you all to some good food. Are we ready?”
Wanda and and Gamora briefly look at each other and simultaneously nod before grabbing their things and exiting the cafe with you.

Much later that day…. 2:15AM ~ Stanlee Co-ed Dorms
Peter B. Parker lays comfortably asleep in bed after an exhausting day of moving into his dorm and of course being the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man almost everyone loves. Peter loves being Spider-Man. While it can sometimes get complicated balancing out the hero life with the civilian life, Spider-Man truly helps people. Sometimes not everyone sees it that way but the good Spider-Man does heavily outweighs the few negative responses he receives, at least to Peter it does.
Yeah, being Spider-Man is great. Peter would never change it for the-
“Peter, wake up!” Ned storms into Peter’s room, effectively and abruptly waking him up.
“AH! WHAT?!” Peter locks sleepy eyes with Ned and then his alarm clock on his nightstand. “Ned, what the hell man, what are you-what are you doing up so late?”
“Binge watching Game of Thrones to prepare for the finale,” he shrugs,” but that’s not important right now. I heard the police scanner say something about an alarm going off at that really expensive wine place on east 98th street near the park. It fits the M.O. of that burglar that keeps getting away.”
Instantly Peter tosses his covers to the side, hopping out of bed and retrieving his Spidersuit from his closet, hastily putting it on.
“It’s a possibility that it could be a false alarm but I have a feeling about this one and it wouldn’t hurt to take a look since we don’t have class tomorrow,” Ned commentates, handing Peter his web shooters.
Peter takes his web shooters from Ned before finally putting on his mask, “Thanks, Ned. Don’t wait up!” With that said Peter swings out of his fire escape window and into the night to potentially catch what even he admits to be a very skilled thief.
“You know I will!” Ned yells out to Peter from the window. “Oh shit,” he quickly pulls himself in, realizing he’s in a dorm building with other people possibly sleeping.
“Go get em, Spider-Man!” he enthusiastically whispers as he exits Peter’s room and closes his door.
Swinging at breakneck speed, Peter makes his way to the location of the expensive wine store, Wine and Spirits Co.. Within four minutes, he spots not only the building but an opened window on the third floor. Quickly, and quietly, he zips through the window. Upon landing, Peter immediately spots the elusive thief simply standing behind a bar counter observing a bottle of wine and a wave of shock washes over him as he realizes he recognizes thief. Donned in an all  black, skin hugging suit laced with white,  small cat ears on her wavy platinum white hair, and a black mask. He never thought he’d see her again.
“I-It’s you,” he mumbles.
You turn around in slight shock but hum in delight at seeing the great Spider-Man himself right before you. “And it’s you. Not many people can sneak up on me and arrive two minutes before the police. I have to admit, that’s pretty impressive.”
“But you h-how are you–– I-I-I saw you-”
“Wow, do you always stutter like this around girls?”
“N-No- Darn it!”
You chuckle as you slip the bottle of wine into your bag that’s already filled with at least five bottles, “Y’know that’s actually kinda cute, but you need to relax more.”
“I’d relax more with some answers,” he starts. “That night- how did you survive the fall? I-I tried to save you-”
“You can’t save everyone, Spidey… I chose to be where I was. The job just didn’t work out as I had planned. It wasn’t your fault. Also in the end it wasn’t really that bad. I mean from your viewpoint, watching that serum practically explode in front of my face and send me plummeting down to what should have been my death probably was bad but… I still have about eight lives left. Why stop the thievery now? Especially when I’m so good at it. ”
“I don’t really think that’s how cats work,” he says, still shocked at the sight of you. “Wait, so you’re the one who’s been behind these robberies all along?”
“Mmhmm,” you hum. “I’m pretty damn good aren’t I?” You hop over the counter and proceed to walk towards the window you used to enter until he halts you by grabbing your arm that holds the bag of wine bottles.
“Look I know this is your first time being caught by someone so you might not be familiar with how things go, but I can’t let you leave.”
You hear the police sirens go off signaling their arrival. Flashes of red, white, and blue begin to sear into the dim wine store and you give him a small smile, “Yes you can. You just won’t.”
You look down as you hear the footsteps of the police ascending the stairs then look back up to Spiderman, “But that’s okay. You’ll have other things to worry about.”
Suddenly the door to the entrance gets kicked in and in enters seven police officers aiming their guns and flashlights at the both of you.
“Freeze, Spider-Man!” yells an officer.
“Call this in, we got Spider-Man here and a potential accomplice,” instructs another.
“Accomplice, really?” Peter addresses the officers.
“Gotta run, Spidey. See you soon,” you say into his ear. Taking advantage of the distraction, you quickly attach a device onto him and jump out the window using your grappling hook to latch onto a roof’s edge and swing away.
Seconds later the EMP goes off, effectively short circuiting Peter’s suit and web shooters. He convulses in pain onto the ground until he manages to take off the device and stomp on it. Peter jumps out the window to follow you but is forced to tuck and roll onto the ground when he realizes you’ve disabled his webshooters. Not one to give up, he attempts to follow you on foot but your trail is quickly lost.
“Systems back online. Sorry about that Pete, she used an EMP device to disarm you.”
“It’s alright Karen. Can you call Ned for me, please?” with everything now fully functional, Peter lunges into the air and begins to swing through the air.
“Of course,” Karen replies. After a few rings, Ned finally picks up.
“Hey, Pete, did you get him?”
“No, but she got me pretty good.”
“She? What happened?”
“Remember the girl I told you about a few months ago, with the robbery?”
“Ohhhh, the one with the chemical explosion who seemingly disappeared after falling from a fifteen story rooftop? Yeah, that’s pretty hard to forget.”
“Yeah, well, it’s her. She’s been behind all these robberies all along and she’s picked up some new tricks.”
“Whoa, what kind of tricks?”
“Well, so far she’s used an EMP device to disable my webshooters and suit, and before she got away I saw her use some sort of grappling hook to swing away and escape, just to name a few. I’m sure she’s got more I haven’t had the chance to see yet but I’m sure I will soon,” he recalls your last words to him.
“No Way! Another super villain! But wait, how did she survive that fall, do you think it could’ve been something in that chemical explosion?”
“She said it was actually a serum but she didn’t specify. Not that we really had much time to talk when the cops stormed in anyways, they thought I was her accomplice!”
“The people know you, though, I’m sure that story won’t stick. Plus, when you catch her, it’ll all blow over quick. Where you heading to now?”
“Back to the dorms, I lost her trail but now that I know that she’s alive and that she’s behind all the other robberies I can probably create an algorithm to try to pinpoint where she might hit next.”
“Alright, well I’ll still be up when you get here. See you soon.”
See you soon
Your words echo in his head. He was there on the night of your apparent death. He tried to save you but failed. It haunted him for some time. Yet now you’re not only alive but back to your old ways. Peter didn’t know you but he still has some questions and, so long as you kept stealing, he knows he has to stop you.

hey hay I’m an i-army, and I was reading this article that translates basically Korean reddit into English and basically noticed that there are a lot of misunderstandings btw k-fans and I-fans. As a Korean person who lives in the us, what is your perspective??
Hey wow
That’s a really interesting and good question
First off let me say that I read the Pann (actual korean) versions of these posts so I understand what you’re talking about. For those who don’t know, Pann is basically a reddit for Koreans where anyone can post anything and anyone can reply to posts and upvote comments, etc.
English blogs like netizenbuzz or pannchoa will translate such posts and their top comments as well to English, and from wht I’ve seen, are pretty reliable/accurate. Note that however, these English blogs will only translate popular posts/top 10 or so comments, meaning that these posts are also the posts that are most controversial/have the strongest opinions.
Ok so to respond to your question, I will try and be careful to answer, but pls remember I’m not a representative of Korea or anything lol my parents are KoRean my friends are KoRean but I’m still very Americanized. So I am a…ki-fan lol
Anyway, i think a lot of the disagreements just come from the fact that korea is still a very conservative country at this point, and their society has been shaped and molded in a way ours has too. So a lot of things i-fans may blame/critique k-fans for, actually really lack a true understanding of Korean culture. For example, yes Koreans prefer lighter (both in context of less heavier + lighter colored) makeup. Don’t ask me why, lol but I guess it’s the same thing as why many girls in America prefer darker foundation colors + bronzers + heavier/smokier makeup than white. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it’s the trend.
Koreans blend their neck to their faces, while Americans blend their faces to their necks. Both look great, but if a KoRean sees someone with American Kylie Jenner insta makeup, they will critique it for being too heavy.
In the same way, idols and their makeup and even their digitally edited photos will follow this trend: lighter skin, bigger eyes, smaller faces. Because this is the beauty standard in Korea. In America, editing will lean heavily towards emphasizing the lips, the golden skin tone, or the body, whatnot. So when i-fans exaggerate that a lot of fan-taken photos are edited too much and whitewashed, yes some are heavily edited, but when they critique Koreans for being “racist” or “color-biased” because the k-fan chose to up her exposure a ton or brighten the skin, its a bit intense for me and makes me uncomfortable. It’s just the beauty standard for them, leave them alone, edit it again if you want, but please don’t call them trigger words like that without truly understanding the culture/society :(
Orrrr another example is when i-fans defend against plastic surgery rumors adamantly. Usually, plastic surgery is SO common and rumors and speculations exist bc Koreans are super observative when it comes to that. Tiny tiny nuances trust me, THEY WILL NOTICE. even me and my friends will notice right away the difference between someone who did and didn’t get double eyelid surgery done. It’s not that we’re obsessed with it, and neither did we get it done ourselves, but we have been raised within a group of people where discussing things like that is quite natural and common. So don’t be so offended when k-fans accuse or talk about an idol getting smth done, it’s very common for people there to talk about it so naturally, they don’t really know that some i-fans might actually feel offended/feel like it’s wrong for them to talk that way. And tbh usually k-fans are pretty spot on for finding and pointing out any procedures. Cause they’ve done it themselves too lmaooooo
But anyway my advice is just be patient...don’t fight or accuse, but instead spread positivity. Korea is still v conservative and narrow-minded, buT has so much room for so much improvement socially, mentally, emotionally, etc. so give them time, and know that changing an entire culture/shifting a society’s norm is a long and slow but sure process :)
Idk what else, I mean there are so many things but these two are a few things I’ve noticed recently, I think there was a post like this in Pann but I can’t find it anymore lmao
I’m happy to explain this further to anyone who’s curious!!! Or if you’d like to comment further on this, I am open to discussing! :)

👩‍⚖️bts
hmmmm probably a super unpopular opinion but i completely support bts in their effort to become more known in the u.s. i’ve seen twitter posts complaining about them becoming “too american” and whatnot, but i disagree? can you fault them for being excited about coming to the u.s and being nominated for awards alongside a bunch of other exceptional artists? artists who they thought they could only admire from afar? can you fault them for wanting more people to hear their music? i honestly don’t. i also don’t see how they’re becoming “americanized.” they’ve come to two awards shows and done a bunch of interviews, and i don’t?? see what’s wrong with that. obviously they would promote more in the u.s rather than idk chile or something because the u.s music market is so HUGE and RESPECTED. it’s where all the action happens lol. i’m not saying that they are responsible for kpop becoming more popular in the u.s, but i definitely think that they have a role to play in that!! and i think it’s really great that they’re putting their name out there in order to broaden their fan base. in fact, the fact that they’ve entered the extremely competitive u.s market in terms of music is SO impressive and it makes me such a proud mom :’) however. HOWEVER. along with this newfound fame in the u.s, comes a LOT of new fans. and bc of that and a bunch of other reasons, bts is pretty “mainstream” now. i hate that word bc it demeans their success and their popularity. “mainstream” implies that they’re only popular because they’re seen as “trendy” and “cool” rather than for being their incredible selves and producing quality music. and that makes me ://
