you know it's very funny to me that when people hear "free palestine" they jump to "so you support the harming of civilians?"
no? we are quite literally protesting the harming of civilians. why do you think people call for the freedom of palestine, if not for that? did you think palestinians wanted to be free just for funsies? did it not occur to you that they are civilians who have been deliberately, brutally erased for decades?

*ppl have less time off then ever seen before in human history!! (Even peasants had harvest festivals and excessive amounts of religious/seasonal holidays to keep them from rioting)
*There is a larger $$ disparity between the top and the middle class of people then during the French revolution!!
*Ppl work more and harder - with only slightly more or less depending on decade- since the Industrial Revolution (Before this, the ave person worked 20 hour weeks all the way back to the start of societies, if you take in how much time off and hard labors off seasons into account)
*There has never been a more unstable access to housing and control over your personal shelter (yes, ppl have been held in slavery and impoverished but tbh this is the first time ppl can look at places to live and simply not have access to comfy place to build camp at least)
*The starvation rate of people has been higher sure, but food insecurity has never been so wide spread, not to mention our food waste also caps out every years
Oh Also!! If you cant work 'hard enough' to pay your bills its your fault! If you cant leave the house on the way to work 'early enough' to catch a bus that shows up once every hour your the one at fault not the system. You where gunna buy a small coffee or treat on your way? Hahah with what spare change? You have to pay your electricity bill this week. Now get to work at a job you hate!!

I dislike the vibes of this post in its entirety but this part stuck out to me the most. This is a prime example of the “noble savage” mentality—the idea that homophobic and transphobic laws or mores cannot originate because all societies throughout all of history have been homophobic and transphobic (even the ones with higher levels of recognition of queer and trans people!), but that these bigotries were brought to people by white Western colonialism. Obviously that is not true—countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East have had discriminatory laws or practices for just as long as those in America or Europe—but it becomes a useful scapegoat to excuse the fact that Western countries have almost universally legalized homosexuality and marriage equality, as opposed to the rest of the world.

Its kind of insane like genuinely insane how many people on here have no idea what life is like for average people in the third world / global majority and the Neo-colonialism that creates those conditions to support conditions in the North and how insanely cruel they can be as the absolute baseline and the type of killing and death that maintains the boundaries between the north and the south.
Like tell me you've never met an immigrant or refugee without telling me. Do you genuinely not know what happens to people who get deported, or work in the farms or meatpacking factories that feed the North?? The child deaths in the border crossings? The mines all over the globe? The people that die from lack of baseline vaccinations and sanitation and healthcare trademarked by western companies? The literal MILLIONS of third worlders killed in the wars across the globe defending US economic hegemony? The agent orange, the land mines, the carpet bombing, the drones? What the fuck is wrong with you?

something I will never ever forget as long as I live is seeing a post in 2020 that was like "I don't care how you feel about Biden, you HAVE to vote for him NO MATTER WHAT because Republicans don't care what their candidate does. they'll vote for a rapist just because it says Republican after his name!!" like within weeks of credible assault allegations against Biden surfacing lol. like can you guys at least TRY to pretend you're not advocating for the exact same thing you claim Republicans are doing

Opinions on bringing back torture?
generally opposed. no american should ever be tortured under any circumstance. i don't think the government should torture non-americans either; its effectiveness is questionable, it is bad optics, and hurts america's honor. however, i fully support any interrogation techniques that fall within the bounds of the law.

The Malawi government has finally spoken out on the arrest of Malawian farm workers in Israel, clarifying that 12 out of 40 individuals detained are from the country.
According to Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu, the 40 individuals, representing 13 nationalities, were arrested for leaving their designated work stations and seeking employment in town without proper authorization.
Kunkuyu revealed that the group, including the 12 Malawians, had abandoned their farm work to seek jobs at a bakery in Bnei Brak, violating Israel’s labor laws and regulations.
Malawi and Israel signed a labor export deal in 2022, allowing Malawi to send unskilled laborers to Israel to work in various sectors, including agriculture and construction. The deal aimed to generate more foreign exchange revenue for Malawi and provide employment opportunities for its citizens.
Under the deal, Malawian workers are expected to work in Israel for a maximum of 5 years, with a minimum salary of $1,500 per month. The deal also includes provisions for workers’ safety, health insurance, and protection from exploitation.
However, the deal has faced criticism and controversy, with some opposition politicians and human rights organizations expressing concerns about the secrecy surrounding the deal and the potential risks to workers’ safety.
The arrest of the Malawian workers has raised concerns about the treatment of foreign workers in Israel and the effectiveness of the labor deal in protecting their rights.
Human rights organizations have called on the Malawian government to take action to ensure the safe return of the detained workers and to review the labor deal to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The incident has also sparked debate about the benefits and risks of labor export deals and the need for greater transparency and accountability in such agreements.
The mistreatment of foreign workers in Israel is well documented and would explain why the 45 workers escaped the farm to look for work elsewhere
