hey here's an otome isekai concept i came with upon reading this one post.

our transmigrator protagonist wakes up as the wife of the ml in a shitty romance novel. she's the villainess standing in the way of the ml and fl's love, and the way her story ends is that she ends up attacking the ml and then gets jailed or killed or whatever it doesn't really matter. all YOU need to know is that it's an undesirable bad end.

and our protag thinks. ah. easy. the villainess only ends up with this bad end because she attacks the ml, so isn't it fine to just do nothing? that way, it should be easy to live a good life until ml meets fl and then at that point get an amicable divorce.

there are a couple problems with this.

the first problem is that actually the ml is SOOooooo insufferable in person. she hates him the moment he opens his mouth. she suddenly understands why the villainess fucking stabbed this guy, because she ALSO wants to stab this guy. she can tell he hates her too, also possibly to the point of stabbing. maybe both of them will get stabbed in this relationship if they continue to stay together.

who wants to wait for the fl to show up? they can't STAND each other. they HAVE to get the divorce, right away.

the second problem is... divorce is hard. it's not illegal, exactly, but the prevailing view is that 'marriage is a holy contract that should be unbreakable!' so... most people, including the emperor, treat it as unbreakable. there are very few lawyers or courts that will entertain a divorce, and the ones that do will still make the process so arduous and impossible that it MIGHT AS WELL be illegal.

there is, however, one exception.

in a remote area of the empire, the emperor's youngest son rules. it's a barren desert territory that nobody wants to go to. but this duke is an extremely easy-going hedonist, and as such, it has extremely lax laws and courts. is this a nice place to live? debatable. but this is the one territory of the empire where divorce is easy. of course you have to live in this area for six months first, but after that, you're good. if you can't stand to wait six months, try to get an audience with the duke. if he likes you, he might just go ahead and get your request granted right away. bam, instant divorce.

our fl seizes upon this information and presents it to ml.

thus begins the long, arduous journey to fantasy las vegas, to visit the hot duke of the south.

we can call it epic divorce quest.

Tomarry au — arrange marriage but with a twist.

Harry Potter wakes up in the body of a villain. A character in an otome game that his goddaughter liked to play. He, being the only one without any kids of his own — always volunteered to take care of her whenever Ron and Hermione finally got some free time together. Thus, they remained really close for years. Even after she grew up she stayed in contact with Harry. And so he knew all about her new obsession.

It was a game where the main character got to choose from six different male leads. They all had their own storyline and apparently it was really popular. It was a story about how this mc, who is a powerful witch — end up winning the heart of the male lead while winning over the kingdom. Because common blood witches/wizards are rare and mostly scorned upon due to not having pure bloodline. And Rose wouldn't stop talking about how interesting it was.

Harry's goddaughter liked everything about the story except one character.

He was the most popular yet the most controversial character; the mad emperor called Voldemort. And there was a reason why he was so popular yet so damned controversial. And no — it was not because of his penchant to torture or order an execution in the bat if an eye. Nope, apparently hot, evil characters tend to be popular anyway, but it mostly was because how no one was able to win his route. Ever.

Voldemort's, or better known as the mad king's — is a route no one ever won. So many people tried, and even begged asked the game developers to give them a hintof how to win his route but apparently they didn't budge and stayed tight lipped about Voldemort's route. Everyone tend to die on his route no matter the choices, no matter what actions you took and no matter how different it was from the last choice. Your character would. just. keep. dying.

But there was one thing that remained common in all of Voldemort's storylines. And it was the main villain. Voldemort's husband. Even when you aren't playing the main game; Voldemort's husband is always trying to make your life hell. So, everytime you win a routine the husband dies a horrible death. Mostly executed by Voldemort himself.

In Voldemort's own route, however — it was different. And how different Harry never got to ask his goddaughter because now he was fucking dead.

And now, here he is. Stuck. In. The. Body. Of. The. Main. Villain. Of. A. game he doesn't even know the name of, for fuck's sake.

Yes, this is a story about how Harry dies and wakes up in the body of a villain who is set up for an arrange marriage with a king who is apparently so hard to win over that even the most likable persons, the main fucking character even — is not able to win him over. So how would, Harry in the body of Harry Evans (they even share the same damn first name, what the fuck.) would win over the husband who's job is to basically kill him after every happy ending? Harry doesn't know.

Cue to Harry doing everything to not die in the hands of Voldemort while trying to figure out how to befriend the mc so he doesn't die due to natural disaster through karma for looking at fate's darling (mc) the wrong way. Also, cue to Harry derailing the plot so hard that the title of the story changes after he is done.

Did Kai every stop trying to kill Kei? And if so why? (Idk because I stopped reading after Kei’s s3)

Yes he stops wanting to kill him at some point in a following story.

From memory alone, I couldn’t tell you which story specifically, but it happens when Kai remembers his past, before Kei does. It should happen between Paranormal Case Files and Sacrificial Lover at the very least.

The reason why he stops targeting his brother is because Kai remembers what they went through as children with Caleb (their kidnapping and him wanting to eat them), and how their lives were switched at birth. I don’t really remember why or how, but in Kai’s mind, Kei was supposed to be the one to stay with the St. Alfanses.

Instead, Kei was raised at the orphanage where he was abused and starved, having never met his family. While Kai was raised by his father (Louis) but was officially announced to be Louis’ little brother and not his son (because he was an illegitimate child and that would tarnish the noble family’s name)

When they both got kidnapped and tried to escape Caleb’s residence, Kai felt guilty for living the life Kei should have had, and sacrificed himself so Kei could run away, protecting his brother. Then, we learn Kai survived as well and got adopted by a Russian military man and basically got traumatized heavily as well (I forgot the elements as to how that happened though)

When later on these memories came back to Kai as an adult, it rekindled his protective and brotherly feeling for Kei later on and reminded him that they actually met in the past, and that Kei is not an enemy.

Kai is also the one who then gave Kei a locket hiding a photo of their mother inside, so that if Kei wanted, he could see what she looked like. Kai hadn’t met his mother as well, but he ended up having this item (I forgot how) and decided that Kei should have it.

The whole reason why Kai even forgot about his past is mostly because of this and his trauma:

Now, after learning his past, Kai joined Kei’s spy agency and is an active member who excels at combat due to his former military position. He doesn’t know what to do with his life and whether he should follow the religious path or the noble path by becoming the next duke of St. Alfans after being officially announced.

I hope it all made sense and was explained properly. I forgot some tidbits that link some events about his own past, but overall Kai felt guilty for having it better than Kei did

i hated the amount of singing in it and while i can get a gold medal in mental gymnastics to justify it, i still don’t want it lol

having that knowledge that inori would betray her made me notice more clues tho like the way tsukuyomi’s and hers mics paralleled each other’s and they showed those off in the opening dance number lol

so anyway i've been thinking that i'd really like to read an otome isekai where the main character is a classic villainess, a very genuinely terrible person who consciously has to go through a moral compass improvement arc.

like i've definitely seen stories where the villainess is 'redeemed', but there are two ways this goes, i think. 1) that's not the villainess, that's a reincarnator 2) she was secretly a good person the entire time 3) she's performing good deeds for the sake of her reputation but has found she actually enjoys being a good person.

it's gotten old, yknow? it all boils down to "your villainess isn't actually a villainess". which, i mean, i understand up to a certain point, because a sufficiently unsympathetic protagonist is not pleasant to read, but it does take some of the "oooh, so you're an ASSHOLE" feel out of it. 1 and 2 usually have our hero be a fucking saint the entire time, 3 makes more sense but i've seen it too many times.

so what i'm proposing is an otome isekai where the fl is genuinely a pretty awful person. and i'm proposing we stick her in a timeloop where the exit condition is "you have to be a good person". a good reputation isn't enough. she has to actually fucking be a good person.

i just think it would be really funny having this protagonist forced to second-guess her actions. reading up on philosophy and ethics. probably failing a couple times and giving in to being a terrible person.
