Joel Miller's bulge - in motion
Y'all have @iamskyereads and bulge anon to thank for this post! Last Christmas, we celebrated with Javier’s bulge. We’re a bit late this year, but I hope you have hydration handy all the same, because we're going to thirst town.
There will be two parts - this one to see out 2023, and the other to usher us into the new year. I hope this was worth the wait 😘
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know about you, but pre-outbreak Joel has me in a chokehold. As opposed to his older self, Joel wears a much shorter hemline on top which means we get quite an eyeful 👀
Am I ashamed for focusing on the bulge in the second gif when the Millers are being chased down by a clicker? Yes, I am, and I'm sorry. And I'm on my knees begging for his forgiveness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are some very intriguing choices of camera angle in the early episodes, and there are no complaints. Seriously, if it were up to me, the entirety of TLOU should be filmed at this angle. And it would be magnificent.
Tumblr media
Also this angle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It really is very inconvenient that Joel's shirt tails are often in the way of the bulge. He should tie up the ends and make it a crop top.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But thankfully, when he struts, there's no way the bulge stays under wraps.
I would also like to add that compared to Javier, Joel's jeans are far less fitted. And yet. He keeps us just as well fed, even in the middle of an apocalypse. Thank you, sir.

I’ve only seen it once so forgive me for not saying more—
—but my favorite sequence is by far the part where ROZ is watching Brightbill finally take flight, and she looks up to try and see him as he gets farther away, but then her view of Brightbill is blocked by the pop-up screen saying “Task Complete.”
And she has to rush after him to get her final look, because of that. Because the Task was getting in the way of her seeing him.

I adore Joel/Pedro so much but it’s always fascinating how differently people treat male and female characters when it comes to trauma and emotional expression. Joel can make so many morally questionable choices and a lot of fans are quick to defend or empathize with him because of his painful past. But when Ellie makes decisions based on her own trauma or breaks down emotionally, she’s often labeled as unlikeable or “too much".
This double standard seems to show up in how performances are judged too. Pedro Pascal can cry on screen and be praised for being tender and vulnerable (I mean, who can say no to that puppy face, right?). Meanwhile, Bella Ramsey shows the same raw emotion but gets mocked for their appearance or accused of bad acting, when their emotional scenes were just as powerful and honest as Pedro’s, evoking just as much pain.
Throughout episode 6, it’s shown time and time again how Ellie is dealing with survivor’s guilt and has a bit of suicidal idealization after her experiences last season. She saw all the people close to her die or abandon her, was almost s*xually abused by a creep, and had two adults she trusted basically decide things for her without having the balls to ask her how she feels. All of this comes through when she says, "Then I was supposed to die! That was my purpose. My life would've fucking mattered but you took that from me." She was even willing to try to forgive Joel for keeping her in the dark about the Fireflies for so many years but she still doesn’t get nearly as much love as he does. Why? Because she’s not tender enough about her feelings and is 'such a crybaby'. But like realistically, who wouldn't be a crybaby in her place!??
This pattern makes it harder for complex female characters to be accepted in mainstream media because audiences continue to dismiss their emotions as dramatics. It’s a bias that really needs to be examined more closely in my opinion.

alright. i’m back for more tlou analyzing
so we all know that pivotal moment in joel and ellie’s relationship when joel calls ellie “babygirl”. *sobs*
but we’re gonna talk about these names a little deeper.
so we know that “babygirl” was kind of joel’s pet name for sarah. that and “baby”. he calls her this multiple times up until her last moments and then some even after she’s passed. those are joel’s pet names for sarah, his daughter, the most important person in his life.
Tumblr media
it’s why when he calls ellie “babygirl”, we know then for certain that joel sees ellie that way, has seen her that way. in his mind, she hasn’t been “cargo” for a long time, but the moment he calls her “babygirl”, it’s out there between them both. it’s official. ellie is his kid.
Tumblr media
but the thing is, that’s the only time we hear joel call ellie “babygirl”. that moment and that word served it’s purpose. it drew it’s connection within joel between sarah and ellie. we now know, as the audience, that joel feels for ellie what he felt for sarah.
so where am i going with this? well, every other time after this that joel calls ellie a pet name, it’s “kiddo” and i think that’s really cute and important. “kiddo” is ellie’s special joel nickname like sarah’s was “babygirl”. it’s also prevents sarah and ellie from overlapping in joel’s head and to us. he isn’t replacing sarah, he never could, so joel, whether on purpose or not, separates the two and affectionately coins them each their own pet name. maybe for his own conscience so it doesn’t feel like he’s replacing sarah, but either way, i find it super meaningful and cute. it probably makes ellie feel special too, like “babygirl” probably did for sarah. coming from a life like ellie’s, where she is an orphan and has been for fourteen years, i can only imagine what it feels like to be someone’s “kiddo”. finally.
Tumblr media
sarah is “babygirl”, ellie is “kiddo”, and joel has two daughters and an equal amount of love for them both. he made extra room in his heart for ellie, he didn’t kick sarah out.

TLOU s2 first look (in video form) came out, and HOLY FUCK IT’S INCREDIBLE!! But you guys know me… you know how I am… let’s analyze this sucker.
Spoiler for tlou part 2
Other than the amazing dialogue and acting here, this scene thrills me because now we know we get at least a little more time with Joel. Thanks, Craig❤️
I’ve seen people say it could be therapy, which I love, but it’s also possible it could just be a normal conversation. Either way, I can’t wait!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Onto the next shot!
Tumblr media
The “the tattoo looks bad!” People are sweating lol This looks AMAZING!! The scarring makeup is so well done! But ALSO did someone say shallow depth of field?? No?? Okay we’ll screw me I guess. Also, IT’S THE MOTH AGHHHHHH
Tumblr media
Beutiful recreated shot. The shallow depth of field is gorgeous, and the lights… it’s just beutiful!
Tumblr media
First thing’s first…
👏BELLA👏FUCKING👏RAMSEY👏 …holy shit.
It’s possible that the person holding onto Ellie’s shoulder is Maria, since if you turn your brightness up you can kinda see her side-shave hairstyle.
Tumblr media
I have two theories for this: 1, this is right after the chemical burn? Or 2, this is after Joel dies? I could be totally wrong, though.
Tumblr media
The guy in the background doesn’t look familiar to me, and none of the main cast have beards like that. I think he’s a new character, probably just a small role as a doctor.
ALSO DID SOMEONE SAY SHALLOW DEPTH OF—
Tumblr media
This is definitely Jackson. You can see that the gates are the same as Jackson’s from ep 6.
Tumblr media
And I’m fairly sure that it’s an infected horde, since none of them seem to have guns or weapons.
Tumblr media
FUCK YES. LET’S FUCKING GO.
(No analysis here. Just hype.)
Tumblr media
Definetly Seraphites, probably from the iconic forest scene. Looks great, love the lighting here.
Tumblr media
First look at Dina!! Woo!!
Tumblr media
Ellie has an assault rifle, and I think she might be on some rafters here, judging by the metal and because she’s definitely above ground level.
Tumblr media
Gorgeous landscape shot, probably around the Jackson area.
Tumblr media
JEFRREY WRIGHT RAHHHHHHHHH I don’t believe there’s a fight in the kitchen with Isaac in tlou part 2 (correct me if I’m wrong, but I definitely don’t think so?). He could be fighting Ellie here, which would probably be triggering for her (bad memories of guys fighting her in kitchens)
Tumblr media
Firstly, KAITLYN LOOKS SO GOOD WOOHOO!!! Secondly, awesome recreated shot.
Tumblr media
Not 100% sure, but could this be Tommy and Ellie? The first person looks like Tommy, with the longer dark hair and jacket. And the second person has the same color jacket that Ellie was wearing in the first look, and seems smaller than Tommy, which would also line up.
Tumblr media
Awesome shot! I bet this is in the tunnels, especially since the shot after you see an infected slam against the doors.
Anyway, those are all my observations for now! This was the best 20 seconds of my day, and I’m so UNBELIEVABLY hyped!!

🧠 Patterson (Blindspot) is autistic coded, fight me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some evidences for Patterson being autistic coded:
The way she dives into casework, solving elaborate ciphers, staying up for days, and even forgetting meals, is a textbook example of hyperfixation. Not to mention how she often prefers working alone or in controlled environments.
Patterson often shows physical signs of overwhelm in high-stress moments, like flinching at noise, covering her face, pacing, etc. Her responses aren’t just dramatic, and don't need to be. She doesn’t always have the space to fall apart, so she implodes quietly, and it's a classic female-coded autistic masking.
She feels for people. Deeply. But doesn’t always know what to do with those feelings in the moment, and autistic-coded women often present like this, like caregivers who are “too much” or “too intense”
Fidgets with tech, taps pens, needs her lab just-so. It's a regulation via control (her lab = safe space) and meltdowns as system crashes.
Patterson’s arc = Autistic Burnout in Reverse. Like the way she starts masked, but by Season 5, she’s demanding her lab back, setting boundaries, and owning her weird.
Case closed.

My 'The Wild Robot' Review
Listen...
I know Queen already did a post review on this movie like a week ago. HOWEVER I just watched this master piece yesterday and needed to give my own review on it.
So if you haven't yet, scroll down to Queen's review and read hers because its amazingggg.
also THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS.
Anyway lets beginnnnnnn.
ADD IMAGINE HERE
Tumblr media
This movie is in the prespective on Roz, a helper robot who ended up stranded on a wild island after her ship with hit by a storm. The first act of the movie contains bright colours and dark humour. This is because Roz hasn't learned empathy or compassion towards any of the animals that inhabit the island.
As the story continues, the themes get darker and the characters get more in-depth personality as Roz connects with her new family.
The story shows themes of belonging, motherhood and found family as Roz battles with her conflicting feelings. Should she stick to her programming or learn how to feel and love her new family?
When she learns emotion through 'Fink' the fox and her adoptive son 'Bright Bill" her voice becomes more human with expressions, her movements become more fluid and her decision making/problem solving contains compassion and emotion.
Roz also becomes conflicted about letting her son go. She becomes scared for his safety but understands she needs to let him go.
When she finsihes her "task" of raising Bright Bill, she's conflicted again. Her programming tells her to return back to where she was made. But her heart tells her to stay because the island has become her home.
Also Fink the fox was so sad, he just didn't want to be alone. He has this cunning fox personality at the beginning. But as the story progresses he's actually a caring fox who just wants the best for his new family.
The story showcases well how complex love is between family, blood or found.
Tumblr media
I cried like 3 times during this movie.
Also the soundtrack was amazing. I watched this movie for Pedro Pascal and walked out with tear stains down my cheeks lol.
Ok thanks for readingggg. Might add more detail when I can.

a ✧MASSIVE✧ analysis thread on all the released teasers/trailers from TLOU season 2
this post is for the official trailer released this month =)
PS: spoilers for the game
OFFICIAL TRAILER
The official, and last, trailer was released this month, on March 8th. The trailer begins with Ellie at the supermarket, walking on her tiptoes, which means she knows there's infected around. At the end of the scene, we can see a stalker running behind her. We then see a closeup shot of Joel's broken watch, followed by a shot of a graveyard filled with fireflies pendants. You can see giraffes walking in the background. There's a soft song playing in the background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then cut to a scene of young Ellie, her hair in a ponytail. Her eyebrow scar is a little whiter and more visible than it was in the first season (something that actually happens irl with deep scars as time passes). She seems to be walking, until something by her side gets her attention, you can hear Joel in the background "You ok?" then the camera pans to where she's looking and we see fireflies around. She stares at them for a split second before looking back at Joel and smiling, replying with a yeah and following right behind him. This seems to be the start of the birthday flashback.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then get a wide shot of Jackson showing how much it has expanded throughout the years, while we can hear Joel's voice in the background saying "This is where we live." The scene cuts to Joel and Benjamin (Tommy and Maria's son), Joel is holding him in his lap and pointing to a map, asking "and what's that?" to which Benjamin replies "the fence". We see another shot of Joel's house and his mailbox with "Miller" written on it, before cutting to the scene of Joel handing the guitar to Ellie in the scene where he teaches her. You can hear Joel in the background, still talking to his nephew "What's inside?".
Tumblr media
As Benjamin replies with "people" we get once again the shot of the back of Ellie's head at the dance, then it cuts to a scene of Dina placing Ellie's hands around her waist at the dance. We get that same shot of the stalker creeping up behind Ellie at the supermarket as Joel asks "What's outside?". The soft music gets cut, and the shot of the seraphite dragging the sickle on the tree trunk is shown again with the sound of the blade dragging against the wood, and we get the wide shot of this scene as we see a person being hanged and a seraphite putting the sickle against the person's throat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then see two quick shots of a WLF truck passing through, and another of WLF soldiers walking by, the WLF symbol painted on their helmets. We also get our first full look at the Salt Lake Crew, with Abby in the front, followed by Owen to her eleft, and Mel, Nora and Manny following behind her on her right; they're all holding guns. Leah, Jordan and Nick seem to have been scrapped from the show adaptation, which I don't believe will matter much. We see a quick shot of a clicker climbing a patch of snow and hissing as the horde passes through it. The scene cuts to black, and we can finally hear Benjamin's reply of "Monsters" to Joel's question.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The black screen cuts to a shot of the outside of Jackson's wall exploding, sending infected pieces up in the air. I believe they had trap mines installed on the outside in case of this ever happening. We also get a shot of Tommy from up at the wall, shooting at the infected.
Tumblr media
The music picks up again, and we get a shot of Dina and Ellie arriving in Seattle. You can see Dina's coat when they arrive, which makes me believe most of the scenes we have seen with her so far will be on day 1. We then get a shot of that same Seraphite men from previous trailers, except he's with a little girl this time (I believe it's his daughter, they have the same eyes) and a shot of seraphites running through the woods. You can hear a Seraphite whistling in the background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then get a shot where Dina walks at the end of a corridor with a flashlight in hand, she seems to be a little lost. I assume Ellie is right behind her. By her clothing and by the background, I'd assume this scene is in the underground subway tunnel. We get a quick shot of Ellie and Jesse walking out of somewhere, and I believe this is the only shot we have of day 3, going by the clothing Ellie's wearing. You can hear Isaac talking in the background "By the time the sun comes up tomorrow...".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get a shot of Ellie kissing Dina, but the expression on both of their faces is of despair, and not happiness, so I wonder what scene this is. We also get our first look at the space shuttle from the birthday flashback.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The screen cuts to a scene of Joel and Ellie in what I assume to be Ellie's room judging by the posters and drawings on the wall. He's looking at her tattoo, and she seems unsure of his reaction. We can see on the closeup of the tattoo it is still unfinished at this point in time. We then get a shot of Ellie running, and she seems to be shooting at someone running in front of her, which makes me believe this is the Nora chase at the hospital (the medical equipment all around her corroborates that too ig).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the next scene, you can hear Isaac finish what he was saying "There's a very good chance you'll be dead.", the scene cuts to the beaten up scar that has shown up some times now, and he says "You're gonna lose." This scene in particular makes me wonder if they're already setting a few hints of Isaac's attack on the Seraphite island on day 3.
We then also see a scene of a cordyceps filled environment with Ellie standing in it, and an infected that seems to be glued to the wall breathes out a cloud of spores. Ellie seems to be surprised at what she sees. The scene cuts to Abby running from the horde and jumping on some broken stairs, trying to climb up to get away from them. I believe this is the scene right before Joel saves her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then get to a scene that has been controversial. We see a shot of Eugene walking, a weird mix of both acceptance and fear on his face. We can see someone in the background, which it's confirmed to be Joel when the camera pans to him raising a gun to the back of Eugene's head. It's been highly theorized that Joel is gonna kill Eugene to keep his mouth shut about what he did at the firefly hospital. It's also worth mentioning Gail, Joel's therapist, is Eugene's wife.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see a quick shot of infected banging on something that seems to be either a door or a train car, judging by the red lighting and the following scene, this appears to be at the underground tunnels. We then see Ellie and Dina climbing on top of a train wagon, and running away from the infected. In the next shot we are back at the supermarket and the stalker is attacking someone, which my highest guess would be Ellie judging by the converse shoes and the fluffy part of the coat that appears in the scene. We also see a quick shot of Joel in the snow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The screen cuts to Nora asking Ellie "Don't you know what he did?" her voice is raspy and you can see spores flying around in the air. When the camera pans to Ellie you can see her lowering her gun after hearing that, which makes me think we will still get the Ellie torturing Nora with a pipe scene, as we do see her lowering her gun. We get that same quick shot from the last trailer of Joel slamming a door closed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The hanging scene has been widely talked about when the trailer came out. When you look closely, you can see it's Ellie that's being hanged, as you can see the pulled back hair and the clothes all fit. People have been complaining a lot about this scene because they're "giving away Abby's scene to Ellie", but I'd like to remind you people that, once again, Abby getting hanged was not special treatment. Seraphites hanged anyone and everybody, so having Ellie also go through this would help 1) introduce the Scars and 2) draw another parallel with Abby when her part of the story comes around.
Tumblr media
We get a very quick shot of Dina throwing her head back and screaming. Judging by her clothing and the ground of where she is, I'm assuming both she and Ellie got caught by Seraphites and they're trying to perform some ritual. We also get a split second shot of Joel shooting at something, but it's time enough to see that same revolver that saved Abby back in the TLOU day trailer, confirming it was Joel too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then get a shot of Tommy using a flamethrower against a bloater, and judging by their surroundings, they're inside Jackson, which means at least part of that horde managed to get inside and cause havoc. The final scene of the trailer is Joel and Ellie right by Jackson's wall, and Ellie is crying while she says "You swore", and the screen cuts to Joel looking like a kicked puppy. It's worth mentioning Joel is wearing the exact same clothes from that shot where he had a gun pointed at Eugene.
Tumblr media
AND WE REACHED THE END, UHUL. Thank you guys for joining me on this wild, fucked up ride as I try to share even a little bit of my excitement for this season. If you want to discuss, agree or disagree with anything I said in this thread, please do it in a polite and respectful manner or you will be hard blocked! I hope you guys have a goodnight, and only 13 days left!

[banging on the table] GIMME THAT ANALYSIS!!! GO OFF!!!!!!
(( ooc! ))
okay cool *shaking with excitement*
i knew this would get long but it really really got out of hand and it has to be a two parter oops! part one will focus more on the hamlet comparisons while part two will be more about how jonathan frames being scarecrow as a role in a play to seek catharsis.
before we start look at this clip of scarecrows arkham asylum/underworld va talking about him! notice how his base in the game is a stage too! sort of like one you’d see in a church
(part two)
tw for discussion of death/suicide, religious trauma, familial abuse, and misogyny
big themes in hamlet are death/suicide and how religion ties into both, as well as family especially fatherhood
death/suicide: i fully believe jonathan planned to kill himself at the end of the comic. he’s meticulously picking off his relatives because he feels they’ve wronged him, but he also tries to kill his baby half sister. she’s a baby and jon is a whole as man, how could she have wronged him? she couldn’t! he’s doing it simply because they share the same blood. (i do think jonathan might resent the child just a bit for being raised by his mother when he was left before he was born, but the main pull is their relation) jonathan does try to kill his father but fails, moving on quickly to attack his mother. there’s a greater focus on the keenys instead of the cranes since jonathan was raised by that side of the family. he never knew his father, and that’s where he sees gerald has wronged him. he’s more locked in on the idea of killing anyone with keeny blood, starting with his great grandmother, to his grandmother, his mother, his sister, and lastly him. everyone before his great grandmother is dead. by suicide.
Tumblr media
“that’s the trouble with a bad seed, isn’t it, mother? It just grows on and on…”
jonathan finds poetic strings throughout his crimes, he’d definitely see killing himself as a fitting end considering its impact in his family.
Tumblr media
jonathan quotes a poem in the comic, a poem heavily associated with death or the release of death. jonathan wants that, but can’t kill himself until he’s finished everyone left who has the same blood that runs in his veins.
Tumblr media
hamlet spends the whole play contemplating death. death of others, death of himself, when the right time to act is, and the fear of being sent to hell or someone he loathes being sent to heaven. hamlet believes in a god while jonathan has given up on putting faith in one. he mocks his father for crying out to god, and the death of his great grandmother that he orchestrated occurs in the family chapel where he leaves her remains to decompose. a sharp contrast to hamlet who doesn’t kill his uncle when he has the prime chance to because the man is praying. by his logic if he kills his uncle while he’s praying he’ll go to heaven, something hamlet really doesn’t want.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“see if your pathetic god bothers to intervene.”
family: as much as jonathan hates his family he mimics them and even sees it as poetic. he killed his great grandmother in the same place she’d lock him in using a twisted version of what she’d use against him as punishment.
Tumblr media
jonathan’s mother, karen keeny, had jon when she was young. you can see it in how she looks and how her mother talks about her. karen had a rough younger life with her mother bearing down on her which caused her to turn to drugs and rebellion against her mom, which is how jonathan was conceived. karen gets called a whore by her own mother and a tramp later on by her abusive husband. sex and sexuality is not a good thing in the keeny family, they’re so conservative and set with their religion that sex is grounds to outcast someone from the family which is what happens to karen. you can tell she internalized this with where she ended up as an adult, married to a man who degrades her and sees her as nothing but an object to push around and use.
Tumblr media
jonathan directly gets compared to his mother by his great grandmother specifically when it comes to the subject of sex and perversion. in one seen we see jonathan being the target of homophobic bullying because he’s reading ulysses by james joyce, and in the next his great grandmother is calling him perverted for reading that very book. jonathan knew she wouldn’t react well to him reading because he hid it under his bed, and despite his insistence that it’s just literature (it is) he’s punished for this. for reading james joyce his great grandmother thinks he needs to be cleansed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
with the way sex was talked about in regards to his mother (which i have no doubt jonathan heard about), against himself with the book, and the incredibly harsh religious environment he grew up in, jonathan definitely internalized all this HARD. jonathan brings up sex against his professor whos family had a sex scandal that he desperately tried to move past and be better than his family. jonathan also says this to batman. insane line but it also links jonathan’s trauma and how he deals with this trauma directly to his scarecrow persona. in hamlet, queen gertrude is called a whore and other names continuously throughout the play because of her relationship with the king, and it’s something hamlet deeply DEEPLY resents.
authors note: i write jonathan as a gay trans man and all of this is SO SO important. he’s raised in an environment where his mother is criticized for being sexually active, and the misogyny he hears from his great grandmother becomes internalized. jonathan doesn’t want to end up like his mom, from the fear of being disgraced and also pregnancy. he doesn’t want fall down that path. all of this would be present from a young age, only worsening when he reaches puberty and his body starts developing in ways he hates. even outside of a trans standpoint, i think puberty would’ve been hell for him with great grandmother taking a “carrie” approach in teaching jonathan about the body meaning not teaching him at all and telling him it’s a punishment for being impure. (see carrie being locked in the room with intense religious imagery as punishment vs jon getting locked in the chapel) internalized forces from how he’s raised mixing with external ones, the bullying at school and his great grandmother flat out calling him perverted and dirty. it all takes a toll on him that he can’t ever forget.
fatherhood: jonathan takes his fathers last name. when he leaves georgia he takes on the name crane instead of keeny. he so so desperately wanted to escape the life he grew up in, get a fresh start, but he failed. jonathan resents his father for abandoning his mother and him as well and attempts to kill gerald for this.
batman sees his father when under the influence of fear toxin where we get this line delivered by jonathan through the voice of thomas wayne since we’re in bruce’s pov
“the father… of course. who among us is ever truly free of his father?”
robin sees batman under the toxin and we get this dialogue between them
b: “you’re really that scared of me?” r: “yeah. in a god fearing kinda way.”
jonathan uses his the scandal of his old mentors father to trigger his fall into the toxin induced hallucination which oh! also involves religion!
Tumblr media
that’s all i got for part one :3

Hi, I hope you're doing well! Just wondering if you're able to do a post/poll/comparison/analysis - let's call it a scientific study - of Pedro's broad shoulder in proportion to his tiny waist? (and maybe also his cute, um, bottom?)
As always, thank you so much for all you do for the Pedro fandom! 💖
This ask is literally 8 months old, I’m so sorry sweet anon 😭 I kept putting it off because I felt like I couldn’t do your ask justice. I still think I can do a much better job than this, but since it’s Boxing Day, I thought I’d leave this naked man under all of your trees.
Please forgive the half-assed analysis because my mind doesn’t work in the face of such broadness 🫠 And of course, we can only use half-naked pics because we need clear references for science.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's talk overall broadness first. This man majorly beefed up in between Nikita (2013) and the first season of Narcos (2015). I was going to use 3:5 cropping for both gifs, but I literally couldn't fit all of Javier in that frame. That's how bloody broad this man had gotten.
Can we admire the corded muscles running down Javier's side for a second? Look at the lines. Look at them. He is significantly thicker and more sculpted compared to Liam, he definitely put his hours in the gym in those couple of years.
Skipping forward to the next time we see this man half-naked on screen in TUWOMT in 2022, he has clearly gotten even broader horizontally and also filled out in thickness. The shoulders are bigger, and look at those tiddies pecs practically leaping off the screen, and that soft belly. They knew what they were doing not giving us a full frontal shot of Javi G - he's a danger to ovaries everywhere.
Tumblr media
Now let's move on to shoulder-to-waist ratio. Compared to Liam, Javier has a more pronounced dip in the waist thanks to the broader shoulders and the tiny little waist that stayed tiny. If you draw lines connecting shoulders to waist, Liam is more boxy and Javier is more of a trapezium.
While we don't see Javi G stand up fully, that shoulder-to-waist ratio is clearly still there, even if he is broader on both ends overall. That slutty nip in the waist is still very much present.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok that's all the analysis my turkey-fogged brain is capable of right now. This is such a broad topic (tehehe), consider this a prelude of sorts. I'm sure I'll be doing more of a deep dive one day, because we haven't even gotten to that little tush yet.

For anyone who might remember, this is tlouobsessed, I impulsively deleted my blog a few months ago. I used to make analysis posts on the last of us episodes and occasionally wrote a ficlet or two, I have truly missed it on here and need the comfort again, life has been...not so lovely and I desperately need the distractions . Anyways this is like a Hello Again.

Hello all. Absolutely no one asked for this, but I’ve spent an unhealthy amount of time watching and rewatching the trailers for season two, and if I don’t get my thoughts out, I think I might actually explode. Enjoy.
POTENTIAL TLOU 2 SPOILERS BELOW
(if you haven’t played the game)
First–Eugene.
Whatever reason it may be that Joel looks like he’s about to shoot him, I feel like it’s fair to assume that, seeing as it’s someone from Jackson, he’s infected. Of course there’s a million other things it could be BUT, I say that becauseeee…
Joel’s clothes in the clip with Eugene, and the “you swore” scene are obviously the same. My guess is that this is some sort of combination between the scenes at the end of the finding strings chapter, when those two kids from Jackson have died, getting infected, and then the argument at St. Mary’s. It’s clear at the end of finding strings that Ellie knows *something*. She knows Joel’s lying. Maybe Eugene will be there in place of the teenagers that got infected, sparking the conversation of what happened at the hospital between Ellie and Joel, and boom. That’s it. JUST AN IDEA IM MOST LIKELY WRONG, but that’s that one.
Tumblr media
NEXT, and I’ve been thinking about this one for months now. I’ve seen so much debate on what’s happening in this particular scene…
Tumblr media
Here’s my two cents on it. I think the most plausible explanation for this is that it’s the fireflies–pretty sure that’s not news to anyone. While it could definitely be a nightmare, unless Ellie actually has some memory of the hospital–which would probably make it very hard to have the tension between her and Joel work out, because she’d have his lie worked out a whole lot quicker–I don’t know how likely that would be. What I was thinking is that it might even be Joel’s thoughts. Maybe is a nightmare but not of Ellie’s, of Joel’s. He has no idea what happened to her in the hours he was asleep, and judging by the collectibles from the hospital in the game, it was at least a few hours. Maybe it’s a genuine fear, maybe it’s his own thoughts, some form of rationalising what he did, not that he probably feels the need to. I DONT KNOWWW. Again, just an idea.
This one’s a bit on the nose. As in it’s, like, pretty much 100% confirmed. But the night of Ellie and Dina’s first kiss, and the night before Joel dies (again, assuming game canon) is New Year’s Eve. Left is a screenshot from one of the premier promo videos, right is from the teaser–the banner is in the background.
Tumblr media
I’m thinking of Joel, finally feeling like he might maybe be about to get Ellie back–coming into a new year with probably the first tiny bit of relief that he’s had in years, and then it’s all gone so soon after😭 Not. Ready.
Next thing. In the clip of Ellie boxing in the teaser, it’s really hard to see in such a quick, blurry clip, but it doesn’t look like she has her tattoo.
Tumblr media
Soooo–teen Ellie flashbacks are looking more and more likely (not that they weren’t pretty much confirmed by having Cat in the show, but y’know…). I’m assuming that the person holding the punching bag is Jesse, Cat, or Dina. Either way, can’t wait to see any flashbacks we didn’t get in the game. WOO! something that might, maybe be positive. Maybeeee?
Last one. Joel does in Jackson. (That is a guess–I think everyone’s been thinking this anyway). I’m sure so many people know more about this than I do, but I remember reading a few years back that there was an alternate version in the early stages of the game where Abby and Co. attack Jackson to find Joel. Obviously, there’s the infected in the show and we never actually see Abby in Jackson. Maybe they don’t make it back at all, but if they do, maybe Joel’s death is going to be some combination of that alternate ending and something new.
Sin é. That is allll.
Bonus thought–things I would seriously do anything to see in the show. Quick fire.
- chemical burn scene. don’t think I have to elaborate, don’t think I’m the only one.
- Some of the journey to Seattle, Ellie and Dina, Tommy or Jesse’s perspective. If there was a place for it in the episodes, if it did something for the story, I would love to see it.
- Some more of the war between the serephites and the WLF. I could not be happier that we could be getting some Isaac backstory. The serephite island is one of my top couple parts of the game to play, and though that’ll probably be its own massive action-packed episode next season, I’ll take any little crumbs I can get. Honestly, just all the Seattle backstory, send it my way.
- I feel so strongly about this one. Scene of tommy leaving Jackson the morning before Ellie. Presuming it follows game canon. Picture the day after the infected attack, and Joel dies and who knows what else happens--Jackson will likely still be pretty wrecked. Imagine a scene, really dark and moody music and lighting, with subtle and soft but just absolutely haunting shots of tommy walking down Main Street. Early morning, the sun is not quite up. There would be dead infected lining the streets, blood and gore and horror quite literally everywhere. And the only movement is tommy, rifle slung over his shoulder, trekking through it all to get to the gate and out, leaving his home and his family–all of it, to get out before Ellie in the hopes that she won’t follow. It’s the last thing he can do for his brother, keep her safe… aaaand then of course that won’t work out but you get the point. (And yes, I know, the courtroom scene. But still. I’ll hold out hope that that so,how comes before this? Unlikely, ik).
Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

Analyzing the new trailer instead of doing schoolwork because it’s more important than my future.
Tumblr media
HBO logo on blurry backgrounds… oooooh, it gets me so hyped.
Tumblr media
”David? I knew a David once. He was a weird little queer boy.”
“Seems like we’re talking about different David’s, then…”
Catherine O’Hara is a therapist/Jackson resident confirmed! No sneaky editing here!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They love each other so much😭 Can’t wait to see this guitar lesson❤️❤️
Tumblr media
Gah, this scene is gonna break me😭❤️ also holy heck this set design!
Tumblr media
I think this person is Ellie, since you can see the fur on the hood of the jacket. The person next to her on the lighter horse is most likely Dina, then.
Tumblr media
The porch scene😭 also I’m not sure how anyone can think Bella doesn’t look 19 in this, because the weariness of our little Ellie is absolutely heartbreaking💔
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
“Don’t mind me, just washing the blood off my knife knife”
Tumblr media
I believe this scene is during the infected attack, since they’re wearing the same clothes.
Tumblr media
Also, this isn’t Tommy’s eye injury, I don’t think. However, because of Maria’s eggplant jacket we can see that it’s her in this scene:
Tumblr media
Maria’s favorite is eggplant purple confirmed??
Tumblr media
This is the scene from the promo shots that were released. You can tell because of the setting and Ellie’s outfit.
Tumblr media
Abby mourning her dad. So psyched to see Kaitlyn Dever, watch Dopesick if you haven’t!
Tumblr media
Craig Mazin: Oh, you wanted more infected did you? Huh? *spits* Fuck you! I’m the boss! Here’s your fucking infected!
Tumblr media
Pretty sure the gun is Joel’s… hahahaha I’m gonna die hahahaha
Tumblr media
Going back to the first horsey picture, this is probably Dina and Ellie, with Dina on the lighter horse.
Tumblr media
First close-up look of the Scars!! Wooooooo!!
Tumblr media
Well this is terrifyingly AWESOME
Tumblr media
I just love Ellie’s little hair curl here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tortured Seraphite and Jeffrey Wright looking incredibly scary. Love it.
Tumblr media
This is the infected attack on Jackson, probably. Same type of walls and the snowy environment.
Tumblr media
🎵Scars burning alive, you know how I fee-ee-eel🎵
Tumblr media
It’s September, take your damn Santa hat off, dead-boy. Also, this is the train sequence for sure. At least that’s what I got judging from the red lighting and… the fact they’re in a train…
Tumblr media
I think this is Joel, judging from the general physique and facial hair. Also BELLA STOP YOU’RE GONNA KILL ME!!
Tumblr media
Joel loves his coffee❤️

I've waited until today to write my thoughts on Death Note: The Musical because I've been so exhausted from being in London and generally just collecting my thoughts on the show (had a good post-show drink with my friend in the pub to talk about it last night).
But now I have a free moment to go on Tumblr and splurge, I have to summarise by saying: WOW. WHAT. A. SHOW!!!!
I had such a blast watching it; I think I was grinning pretty much throughout the whole thing. Every song is brilliant (I've been listening to them on repeat all of today), the actors are mega talented with amazing voices, and it's a really INTERESTING (wink!) adaptation of the anime I love so much.
It wasn't without its flaws, that's for sure. My main gripe was perhaps the ending, as it felt a little rushed and out of character for L, but given that one musical would never be able to cover the full story of the anime or manga, they did a great job considering what they had to work with, and it was always going to be a condensed version of the story we know.
My main highlights:
Rem was an unexpected delight! She looked stunning, resembling a white angel next to Ryuk's pure blackness, and the actress' voice was GORGEOUS.
Ryuk, of course. Adam Pascal nailed this role, both the comedic and dark elements of his character, and like Rem, he LOOKED perfect.
John Dean-Wilson was an AMAZING L, just as I expected. His interpretation was slightly more unhinged than anime/manga L, and I honestly loved that. His mannerisms were on point and every song of his was memorable.
My favourite song and scene in the whole musical was definitely 'Playing His Game' which was sung DURING L AND LIGHT'S TENNIS MATCH. That entire number gave me chills and summed up their dynamic perfectly. I'll be playing this song over and over again for weeks.
But yeah, as you can tell, I LOVED THIS MUSICAL, and really hope I get an opportunity to see it again at some point. <3

Mera's Ep 2 Analysis
Alright. Gonna attempt to scrape together the shattered remnants of my composure, and share some hopefully-coherent thoughts on Ep2 (😭💀😭). MAJOR (and I cannot stress this enough) spoilers ahead.
(Disclaimer: have not played Pt2. Knew the major beats going in. Fully expected 🏌️‍♀️ in this episode)
First. The parallel opening scenes of Abby waking, and Ellie waking - to a day that will be indelibly marked in both of their minds for the remainder of their lives. The contrast of Abby emerging from memories of SLC, unwavering, ready, dogged in her pursuit of vengeance. Meanwhile Ellie is jolted awake by Jesse at the door - and she’s caught off-guard, exhausted, hungover. In no way ready for what’s coming.
Young Mazino continues to be such a dynamic presence on the screen, and has certainly earned his opening credits. His banter with Ellie was winsome and charismatic, and the exposition of the new infected dynamics was well-crafted. The “under the snow” speculation sent chills down my spine.
The moment when Ellie turns on Jesse and acknowledges the state of her relationship with Joel was one of my favorites of the episode. Her request to patrol with Joel, the rise of hope followed by the crash and burn when we realize she’s already missed her last chance to see him alive, is utterly gut wrenching.
The Tommy we see at town hall has definitely had the night to think things over, and it was relieving to see that he and the rest of the council have gotten their feet under them and are preparing for the worst. His leadership is winsome, charismatic, and natural. Even the way he positioned himself within the crowd - he grabs a chair and stands in the midst of his people, doesn’t address them from the balcony or the hearth. Leading from within. I love that the show has chosen to highlight his role in the Jackson community and given Gabriel the scope he deserves with this character.
An aside, but I am a HUGE fan of weather as allegory. Love that the creators chose to use the storm as backdrop for this episode.
Leveraging Eugene’s death to highlight Ellie’s survivor’s guilt was a phenomenal choice. We see some real, deep empathy written all over her face in this scene, and we’re reminded of what this character has been through, what she still carries.
Abby awakening the field of infected had me screaming. The show is doing a lot more with infected this season, and they’re doing it so well. The suspense of this scene where she’s crawling under the fence as it collapses was honestly unparalleled - pretty sure my heart-rate hit 120.
Jesse and Ellie receiving the radio transmission and realizing that Joel and Dina were in trouble, and going after them, actually evoked the most powerful emotions of the episode for me. I was expecting Jesse to stop Ellie at the door and take a moment and assess, but the way he wordlessly sprints out after her, a silent acknowledgment of the gravity and credibility of the threat - brought me to tears. Watching them split and ride out into the blizzard felt like the point of no return.
The sequence of the defense and overrun of Jackson by the horde was devastating, but it was such a gift to viewers. We feel the unbelievable scale of the production effort in every beat of this scene. From the details of the defense stratagem to the special effects of the infected, to that core of relational motive between Tommy and Maria. The way Tommy’s stand on Main Street called back to “last place you wanna be, trust me” - then he reprises it at the end of the scene after killing the bloater, and we sense the palpable depth of despair when he steps back out onto the street and we get that wide shot from above and it feels like he’s the only non-infected left alive. And then Maria releases the dogs, and it gives him just enough margin to keep going — there’s not enough room on this page to say everything I want to say about this scene, but it was truly unrivaled.
I don’t even know where to start with The Scene in the lodge. To talk about it analytically feels like undermining the sheer emotional weight of what we saw play out. No part of it was easy to watch. But I thought the use of hypothermia to incapacitate Dina, and Abby leveraging Dina’s life against Joel, were both good narrative choices. I would have preferred a rifle butt to the head for Dina. The injection of whatever Mel gave her felt a little bit contrived and too merciful for the circumstances.
I felt like some of Abby's dialogue was a bit stilted and incoherent in the first part of the scene, especially before she shoots Joel, but the “I saved your life” - “what life” really felt like the pivotal moment for me, where Abby emerged and we understood that she truly has nothing left to lose. The tension in the room between Mel and Owen and Abby added layers to this scene that I think were important narratively - you can tell that none of these characters will ever look at Abby the same after this is done.
Kaitlyn really hit her stride in those last few (incredibly important) beats before she goes and gets the golf club. When Abby reaches out and touches Joel, I felt a visceral shift in the scene. We get this real, repulsive sense that she is taking pleasure in this - not bravado, not facade, but deep down. And her intentions are so clear. Even though I knew exactly how this is going to play out and found myself approaching a point of emotional exhaustion after witnessing Jackson’s fall, Kaitlyn's emotion in this moment managed to reinstill a sense of genuine horror.
The way Ellie begged. Her utter aloneness in the aftermath. The way she went to him. Take a bow, Bella. You have earned your flowers. <3
The wide angle of Jesse riding up to the lodge broke whatever part of my soul was still intact. I cannot imagine what it would have taken to get both Ellie and Dina back on their horses, alone, and to pack Joel's body up, alone. We love you Jesse <3
Alright. That’s all I can bring myself to say. Kudos to the HBO cast and crew. They made history with that one.
