I had a package of assorted needles, including upholstery needles, for almost 30 years. The package was even older than that - probably one my mother or grandmother had purchased in the 60's.
Two weeks ago I realized my sofa had a tear. AHA! Finally the moment had come to bust out the upholstery needle that's been sitting in its ancient package forever!
Except, apparently, I tossed it out when we moved last year. I am weirdly mourning these needles; cruelly discarded just before their time had come. Also annoyed that I had to buy a new package of upholstery needles after having owned one I never used for literal DECADES.

Rip, my lost needles.

The Concept of Panterus vs Objects [called PvO]
[+ something about me cuz why not]
a long long time ago, around 2019, i created a character called Cairo Night. It was a cat, because i was into Warriors, inspired by my arrowhead necklace with cairo night stone. But then boom, remote lessons from home. I was very bored, so i discovered BFDI and other Object Shows like Inanimate Insanity, Open Source Objects, i think you got what i mean. It pushed me to develop my art, i have a plenty of fanarts and other stuff (even on my kinda troll twitter account, i mean i didn't delete this account because of one great artist: JamyTheJam. Inspiring person. Also if someone is wondering why i said i am pan, that was some time ago i am bi huhuh lol).
And that's how Nighty, my first real object show oc was born.
[i wanted to include there photo of this "arrowhead" but i can't find it and any photo, bruh momento but don't worry there'll be more later]
so, before i discovered BFDI, i found out Ron Zhang, artist creating funny Windows vs Mac vs other things animations (in PowerPoint! ah yes Qwertyxp2000, those were the days!:). And then another boom, Jacob Kitts! Mac vs PC forever in my heart, still waiting to see what you want to create! if you want, of course. Just know i love your work.
All mentioned artists inspired me to create PvO. It is one of my dreams to create that and not get censored for anything or thrown on yt kid$. But i also want to create what i my creativity would like to surprise me. Ah, it's more the lack of motivation and now the time that has made me do something about it only now... it's better than nothing.
(wait, should i mention there that i love old Terminator? nah, maybe it's too digressive)
Later, when i was in my second year of high school, i discovered Half Life series. Fantastic piece of art. And then... Team Fortress 2. Game that pulled me out of a difficult mental situation by analyzing the plot and other things (it's cool okay, also go check 7th part yoo). In the meantime, i fell in love with SFM, yes this spaghetti code animation program... My another dream is to create my own animation for song Money by Jon & Vangelis. YES INSPIRED BY THAT GREAT EXISTING ANIMATION, BUT I HAVE AN IDEA FROM VIBING TO THIS SONG FOR ANOTHER, MY OWN, AH. And Deus Ex from 2000, retro games enjoyer mode on.
okay, coming back to the topic.
a lot happens in my life. One friend fell in love with me, with other friend i had to end the relationship quite sharply because she was a toxic person, as it turned out after so many years... what a shame. And if it wasn't for my interference, she wouldn't have met and wouldn't have been with her "boyfriend"... i'm worried about him, that something will happen to him by her behavior, but he should be able to handle it. I don't want to explain anything more about this "former, not nice friend", i shattered this gemory, but i can conclude this finished thread with these words:
We determine who we are by what we do.
— Agent 47
But also past shaped me, so i am now a person who extremely doesn't trust others much. That's why i fell in love (again not human lol) with Hitman games series. Agent 47 is my comfort character, no matter how strange it may sound. I know he is a technically improved clone of man made as killing machine, now in WoA is like 60-70years old and is not John Wick. And i must point out, Hitman Blood Money and newest World of Assassination trilogy are definitely my favorite. About Absolution, it's generally a very good game with nice graphics, but this out-of-character 47 ah pain is... bad. It's not a good Hitman series game, but i enjoy playing Absolution and i reccomend, BUT NOT AS THE FIRST HITMAN GAME, NOOO. Try demo of WoA ;D
dang, Agent 47 has an intriguing psychological portrait. It's my knowledge of just official games series, excluding the most of Absolution's plot and of course completely excluding those two movies. Man, did the directors even play BM, old Hitman 2 or other classics that were current at that time? i still dream of making movie from few BM missions (to use Vegas soundtrack by Jesper Kyd ahh i adore this OST)... but maybe i should keep my "Bieszczady/Warszawa mission" heh (maybe i would like to share of my concepts... maybe.)
i bought my deluxe ver of WoA on "weekend sale" on steam, it was worth my around 500PLN and on quick sale it was 200PLN... i have never come back from university so quickly to top up my Steam account in the store. Completely worth it, even i have potato laptop for this game and almost everything on the lowest settings lmao.
and now, after this very shorten and incomplete story of my life from the end of 2019, i decided to go back to my PvO project because of this video.

man, i have even their halloween concepts.

and even "Heavy is dead".

there was also a large A4 notebook with handmade stickers with the characters taking part in PvO, but it was left at home in the basement and i am in the dormitory...
so catch my ideas of host's outfit concepts i created for something else and i will use them in PvO (because why not v2)

oh lol my found my old personifications of windows loool i must remake that i love it and hate my old artstyle from... uh, 2020/21? yeah, there's also Win7 "portrait"

hahaha, crazy old drawing, but not one of the first...

okay, maybe windows later.
these were supposed to be animations in polish lang (with eng subtitles ofc) called "Łindołsy" what is a double plural of windows with completely grotesque changing w to ł, it is read the same as in english like in words "where/what". We will pronounce it "łere/łat", i... okay, series called Panterus The Translator was also my idea to make funny translations and to enlighten that "pies" mean in polish "dog", or "Handschuhe" mean from german literally "shoes for hand", what are gloves of course.
OKAY NOW ABOUT ME
call me Frau Panteruz, Panterus, Panti, Panzerkampfwägen Maus VIII or barcodewoman_47 (last is not used anywhere officially so if someone uses then sorry my knowledge is not augmented).
i am a weirdo from 2005, now studying nursing and dreaming of become surgical nurse. I have some... predispositions. I am not afraid of blood (nah, i even like it- wait what are some people in suits doing in my room? men, calm calm i'm not gonna look into this light! no no i am not cooperating with aliens!!). I have two little monkeys called younger brothers, so i understand something about siblings. I am kinda biochemistry nerd, now into mentioned Hitman series. I have almost always been a tomboy girl, now i see it evolved into this "elegant business woman with shirt and crease trousers and suede oxford shoes ohh and dark waistcoat yess and leather gloves ahhh and dark autumn coat obviously, eventually a nice gray or red tie and for exchange for waistcoat can be black suspenders". My other side, because i have two sides is tactical testicle any turtleneck, good pants with a lot of pockets ready to rolling in the forest, nice natural leather shoes that are both elegant and no mud will ever destroy them, fingerless gloves with knuckle protectors, sum cool sunglasses cover on my prescription glasses, sum knee pads and my airsoft colt m1911 (+ water guns i have, and funny toy guns). Those two sides fight in me with my retro addiction to CRT TVs and making my own weirdcore tv head from eva foam, inspired by RGB from The Property of Hate... (i am trying to help with polish translation of this comic, i invite you there.)
I have a lot to do, as you see. a lot.
WHO'S THIS FURRY ON PICTURES!?
long story even before 2019.
so, in short, i wanted to create a character. I was 8yo, c'mon...
hmm, actually i can draw people but i can't draw their heads well and i like cats so omg im going to make a human-cat!!
- the way i was thinking
I didn't have internet access then either, so i didn't know those creatures exist... well, and that's how it stayed. Improved to tired of life anthro domestic cat that was intended to be a panther. That's how i called her, Panther.
of course it developed and she's now Panterus, or rather Panti, maybe i would do a "human version" of her but... ehh, this is only one furry-looking character i got, not counting her sewn-grandma... i never liked drawing human heads. Same as Egyptians with their gods. Trust me, i am mostly sarcastic but this time i am honest, i am not furry. And i am not saying furries are bad, man, think a bit and i don't throw everyone into one bag that all are bad. Man, if you're thinking like that get out, it's my place for thinking people, wanting to develop intellectually or laugh to relieve stress, idk.
uhh... so that's a bit about me.
oh dear God i found my second object show idea assets remake

called M.B.T.I.
My Becoming The Inheritor
title explains the plot a bit, that they are fighting for certain inheritance... OK OK BUT MAYBE NOT TODAY FRAU PANZERUS it's 5 a.m. and you're not sleeping...
but i have a day off! few days off!
ah fine. okayyo.
so... until next time.

Such a rotten girl... (I am ALL IN on Apple Girlington Darkener btw. read more if you're interested)
BASICALLY this is Toby's improvised Touhou OC named Apple Girlington. She's the "personification of an apple." Here's her theme and lore. The personification of an inanimate object Sounds a lot like a Darkener yeah? I'm not the first person to imagine that she may be in Deltarune, but here's some reasons as to why I think she may be: 1. Kris has a very prominent connection to apples, which may tie into the "deal with the devil" theory, but other than that it's kinda random. Kris is coooonstantly associated with apples, they have apple scented shampoo, they smell like apples, there's that story from the Spamton Sweepstakes involving the apple. Toby even has nostalgiac memories of apple shampoo.
2. Toby recieved lots of fanart of Apple Girlington, with this one seemingly becoming the most popular design. The same day he uploaded her theme, though, he received this fanart of her, but commented that her skin color was "too normal" and said he'd prefer her with a "really freaky zombie yellow" skintone. If we take a look at Kris, well...yeah. These lines of dialogue make a lot more sense now lol. (I don't think Kris is a zombie by the way, but this *is* interesting.)
3. Okay, sure, but what is she? Well, I think we have a couple options. The most obvious is that she's the apple scented shampoo from the bathroom. (I was initially hesitant on this, but we do know that the Chapter 3 Dark World *will* take inspiration from the bathroom.)
She may also be a rotten apple or something, maybe in Asgore's fridge if we get a Dark World in his flower shop? Maybe she could even have a worm inside her or something lmao.
4. What purpose would she serve? Well, I'm not sure, but I think she'd be an interesting way to explore many aspects of Kris that they probably won't be discussing on their own. Also...c'mon. How cool would it be to have a Touhou inspired character in the game series that's inspired by Touhou? Maybe Kris, Susie, and Ralsei could dress up like Touhou characters! (Kris would be Reimu of course, just like Frisk in this art by Temmie Chang.)
Aaanyways I think she'd be cool!! Would love to see this happen, or at least be referenced. She doesn't even have to get a battle (though that would be preferable lol). I swear, if we get an apple shampoo Darkener and its NOT her I'm gonna flip 😭
Guess we'll find out on June 4th!

Watched all the available seasons of Big Mouth for the shits and giggles and I do understand why many don't like the show but now I can't get one little dude(the littlest dude🥺) in particular out of my skull
Jay Bilzerian
The amount of physical trauma, sexual trauma, stunted mental growth, and undiagnosed mental disorders this boy has is...
Definitely has ADHD
May have autism
Rampant signs of schizophrenia
Hyper sexuality
Disassociation
Need I say more? I feel so horrible for this boy and all his friends don't understand just how fucked up his life is because they are children too. They just think he's weird but almost everything about him is a bi (heh get it? It's because he's bisexual) product of what he's gone through.
He's super hypersexual because his brothers abuse him in that way(we see that in the jizz cracker scene). In the latest season, he teaches Andrew how to disassociate for the fight he's going to have soon which fails.
He explains that he disassociates because his brothers beat him so often that he's taught himself to block it out to the point where he feels no pain.
The schizophrenia is self explanatory. The constant personification of inanimate objects that aren't just done for gags - because for Jay the illusions persist even past the joke.
And his hyper sexuality often mixes with his schizophrenia (AS SEEN WITH THE GODDAMN PILLOWS).
And don't get me started on how he sees adult figures in his life! He seeks constant approval from the adults or anyone older around him because he has an entirely absent father and a mentally and emotionally absent mother who is constantly drunk.
He exaggerates his already loud personality because he wants attention. Something rarely given to him out of a person's own will.
All this and he never became a horrible person like his brothers.
And I could do this for all the other characters because they're all interesting in their own right but when you get past the crude jokes and weird imagery (because the point is to display the grossness that is growing up) you see how horrible each characters mental state and lives are.
Jay's being the worst in my opinion.

Willow had already started to set up their workspace in the way she was accustomed to, having been over to the house enough times during Eilonwy's recovery from the demon attack and just to hang out after the Halloween Debacle (official title still pending) that she felt comfortable moving through the kitchen. Even though the space was new, the steps were familiar; Willow had done the exact thing every weekend since she was old enough to pick up her Papa's smaller cauldron by herself. They'd spend the day in his work room, with Willow helping to prepare ingredients that didn't require a magical touch and helping to mix everything up.
Her lack of skills with reagents meant she'd never be a great potionmaker, but she was a thoughtful and meticulous one, at least.
Willow smiled at Eilonwy's excitement, feeling her own growing. "It's nice to be brewing again," she admitted. "I took a few potions courses at BCC and helped my Papa, of course, but I haven't touched a cauldron since I moved here."
She'd honestly thrown most of her tools for any sort of casting into her closet in a heap before she'd left, hoping to never see any of it again when she slipped into the Mundus world. Clearly, that hadn't ended up happening.
She'd had to fish her grimoire out from behind her bed when she visited for the Solstice, and was still apologizing to the poor thing every chance she got. Willow set it carefully on the counter, smoothing her fingers over the soft leather cover, before stepping closer to the stove to examine Eilonwy's cauldron.
"Hello, gorgeous," she said with a whistle, running her hand along the rim. She rose onto her toes to peek inside, checking for any nicks or spots of rust, but it was beautiful inside and out. Willow could see the magic worked into the iron, as unique as the sorceress who owned it, and made a note of the new mix of reagents and oils that seasoned the cauldron. "This is perfect," Willow said, smiling.

Ross's List of Objectum (-adjacent) media
I'm occasionally asked on Discord for objectum media, so I'm making this list with stuff I've run into and recommend. This is anything with sentient objects or relationships to objects. I am going to apologize ahead of time that most of these are focused on architecture, since that's what I've mostly been hunting all these years.
List under the read-more.
Books (Fiction)
Your Cities by Anaea Lay. Short story. One of the main characters is dating cities and bringing them and their buildings to life. My absolute favorite short story of all time, not least because my beloved skyscraper plays a major character. Read it here.
I normally don't look at sentient ships in fiction because they are so common and usually aren't of my interest, but I make an exception if the story revolves around them. Turning the Whisper, short story also by Anaea Lay, has a sentient spaceship grieving and remembering his creator, one of the only 'machine-whisperers' in the universe. Read it here.
The Culture series by Iain M. Banks also has a colorful cast of sentient spaceship that I have heard high praise of but I haven't read them myself.
Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott. A re-imagining of the Baba Yaga fairytale following two siblings in America suddenly receiving a sentient, walking house from their Jewish Russian grandmother. WARNING: The main conflict revolves around antisemitism. There are scenes of pogroms. The book does not pull its punches when discussing the horrors of persecution, including right at the opening pages.
Awakening to the Great Sleep War by Gert Jonke. This one can sometimes be hard to find. Stream-of-consciousness novel about an acoustic designer in a surreal, dream-like city, whose profession and training allows him to hear columns and iirc buildings speaking. The main character has a relationship with a column around the end of the book.
Not quite as stream-of-consciousness, but even more chaotic, is The Kraken by China Mieville where one of the main characters is a detective who can sorta speak to inanimate objects. Although with how much is going on in this story it might be a little dwarfed by the other zaniness.
Day 9 by Robert Jeschonek. Between a story of three people trying to find a guy and evade a serial killer, the Sagrada Familia cathedral muses and self reflects and looks forward to the future.
Desire and Dust by Roee Rosen. A small, academic collection of stories/artworks/etc. from Russian authors that mainly focus around objects coming to life and having relationships with humans. Be warned: the first work in the collection is a vent piece against Vladimir Putin, and includes cannibalism and sexual assault. The book goes into NSFW territory throughout.
The Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki. A boy suddenly starts hearing the voices of objects after his father dies, and his mental state quickly spirals with lack of support and understanding. This goes to dark places with mental health, but the book ends well.
The City We Became by N. K. Jemisin. Six people become New York. Literally become the personifications of New York. N. K. Jemisin is one of the best science fiction authors of this decade, go read her work.
On that note, the Skyscraper Throne trilogy by Tom Pollock has the city of London alive and doing young adult urban fantasy schenanigan business, including facing off against the god of cranes who represents gentrification. One of the main characters hunts down a sentient train at the beginning of the novel. Somehow no building characters but it's not like this list is hurting for them.
The Towers Trilogy by Karina Sumner Smith is an adult fantasy/urban fantasy story about two cities segregated between magic users and non-magic users, and involves living skyscrapers powered by magic in the later parts of the first book and throughout the second and third book. While the premise is a bit cliche, it's good.
The Employees by Olga Ravn. The human crew of a spacecraft get enamored by The Alien Cubes (tm) that they picked up on a mission. This is set by a series of vignettes showing different perspectives by humans and robots that man the ship.
Twisted! by Miranda Leek. Roller coasters come to life as monstrous defenders of the theme park. Apparently it is a bit mid but enjoyable.
The Tallest Doll in New York City by Maria Dahvana Headley. Short story where the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building kiss. Read here. Also if you wanna see more spicy building romance, check out the cover of Delirious New York (!!NSFW!! or at least coming close to it. I would not open this at work even if there's nothing explicit) written by Rem Koolhaas and illustrated by Madelon Vriesendorp, who later made her cover artwork into a short film.
Rootabaga Stories: The Two Skyscrapers Who Decided to Have a Child by Carl Sandburg. Self explanatory. Sandburg is one of my favorite poets of all time go go go go read his work. Read the Two Skyscrapers here, and also read his poem about a skyscraper and how it's alive and a poem about how a skyscraper loves the night. I hate to assign modern labels to old dead people but I feel like Sandburg would have been objectum were he alive today.
Also go read the poem The Turbine by Harriet Monroe. The machine is unnamed and unidentified, only so much that it is an industrial machine, but this poem has quite an objectum vibe to it's main character/narrator. Read it here.
Also a poem, and kinda really hard to find in any official capacity, but ship-lovers have The Subject, written by R A B Mitchell, about the warship HMS Warspite that he served on. Here's a way to find it, but you gotta scroll down half a page.
Everyone and their object companion probably already knows about this one but House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. Unexplainable house that does some freaky geometry business. Best damn horror I have read.
Also covering my bases here with Christine and The Shining, both by Stephen King. Books more so than the movies. Evil car and evil hotel respectively, though you could probably argue until sunrise whether the objects themselves are animate and evil or if its the human ghosts haunting them.
Citizens of No Place: An Architectural Graphic Novel by Jimenez Lai, is a short experimental manga-esque comic musing about the state of architecture and its possible future and criticizing the current path of society. One of the chapters has a character in love with an architectural form. Many thanks to Creatures Are Stirring (mentioned below) for finding and mentioning this. Can be found here.
The Dream of Houses by Wil McCarthy is a sci-fi short story set from the perspective of a friendly smart home as their owner goes through the Worst Day of His Life. It's... a little outdated in the sense of it's hard to look at the sci-fi society McCarthy writes about and take it with the optimism it was supposed to have, but it has some interesting ideas in it. This story does not exist anywhere online, but I have digitized it on my own end. Since it's almost 30 years old and out of print, feel free to send an email to me if you want the digitization.
Les Autos Savages, a short story collection by Folio Junior Science Fiction. Many of the stories in here have sentient/sapient cars as the main characters and comment on the complicated relationships humans have to cars, both good and bad. This is in French, but @drinkingasoline has translated a few of the stories. Thank you btw Crispy for finding this!
There's a short story I keep losing the name of, but if anyone can find it I would graciously appreciate being reminded of its title. It's a vignette set in a broader fantasy universe, and the main character is a human changeling brought over to Fairy New York. The vignette deals with the main character visiting the NYC library, who is personified into a genius loci along with being the building himself. This guy inspired my own building characters so I would love to read about him again.
Books (Non-fiction)
Creatures are Stirring: A Guidebook to Architectural Companionship by Joseph Altshuler and Julia Sedlock. While this is geared more toward architects than the general public, if you want to dip your toes into animist theory and praxis (for lack of a better term) this the best starting point so far, and these two authors are names to know. Both authors are confirmed to be objectum friendly, though this book does not explicitly mention or discuss objectum people. If you don't want to read the entire book but want to hear one of the authors summarizing his thoughts, see the video Are Buildings Alive? hosted by Stewart Hicks interviewing Joseph Altshuler. Viewable here.
On the Animation of the Inorganic by Spyros Papapetros. Really, anything Mr. Papapetros has written if you have the stomach for dry, high-level academic analysis. Fantastic book wrapping up arts, philosophy, and a bit of culture in a discussion of Modernist animism, but it's written in esoteric academic-speak making it inaccessible, and specifically is looking at 1880s-1940s time period. Does not reference objectum people directly but does occasionally mention the "erotic power of objects".
Both of the above books are exhaustively sourced, so you can find jumping off points for your own research. They are architectural theory and will be almost exclusively focused on architecture, although On the Animation of the Inorganic also discusses art and briefly discusses other things as well.
Architectural Agents: The Delusional, Abusive, Addictive Lives of Buildings by Annabel Jane Wharton. A very strong case for discussing buildings as agents, as subjects, able to act on and manipulate humans and animals. This primarily deals with all of the negative ways a building can affect humans, including enabling addiction, but a very strong theoretical basis for architectural agency and perhaps animacy.
Monsters of Architecture by Marco Frascari. Maybe. Another architecture theory book, and one I haven't read thanks to how difficult it is to get a physical copy. Putting it here mostly in case anyone else is as ravenous for animistic theory as I am.
There is a book that looks at agalmatophilia (statue-lovers) that I am aware of, but I heavily do not recommend it as it is hostile toward objectum folk. If you want the name of the book for research or something, send me a DM. I also probably should mention that Erika Eiffel has her biography somewhere but 1) it's in Finnish (iirc?) with no English translation available, and 2) I am not comfortable supporting Erika/her book.
Films
Chairy Tale by Norman McLaren. Also, by the same guy, Opening Speech. Short films. A chair/microphone misbehaves around a man. Chairy Tale ends well for the object, Opening Speech... not so much. I adore McLaren's work, go watch them here (Chairy Tale) and here (Opening Speech).
Roof Sex (!!NSFW!!) by PES. Two couches. A roof. No one around. Really, most of PES's work counts as objectum/animistic-adjacent, although thankfully most of his filmography is safe for work. Roof Sex is just the most obvious one of the bunch. PES himself comes off as having an animistic bent + connection with objects in interviews but I am cautious to call him anything more than that.
Another one everyone here probably already knows of, but Encanto, directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush. The house. She is alive. And very expressive and friendly. Very good Disney film following a family with super powers but dealing with generational trauma and high expectations. The house is called Casita and is pretty much the best friend of the main character.
Her directed by Spike Jonze. Well known film but covering my bases. A man falls in love with an AI operating system. Saw it recently myself--it's quite good! There is a very brief NSFW objectum eye candy moment aside from the whole premise of the relationship.
AI Love You, directed by David Asavanond and Stephan Zlotescu. Thai film where buildings all have AIs put in them, and one of the buildings falls in love with a human that lives in him. The movie isn't a masterwork of art, it's cheesy as hell, but it's incredibly fun. There's a rave building that has a giant architectural mohawk. We deserve mid-but-fun movies.
Titane, directed by Julia Ducournau. This one's for all of the mechaphiles out there. I haven't watched this one either but the main character has a baby with a car. The main character is also the villain, and it is a slasher film, so be aware of that.
Jumbo, directed by Zoe Wittock. Human falls in love with a theme park ride. This is directly an objectum story. I haven't watched it myself (somehow...) but a friend has mentioned that it contains sexual assault, coercian, parental abuse, and apparently it ends sadly :(
Monster House, directed by Gil Kenan. Self explanatory and everyone here's probably already heard about it.
Just gonna mention Electric Dreams by Steve Barron to cover my bases but I don't think you can get by a week in the objectum community without having heard of that film.
Home Sweet Home by S. Paccolat, A. Diaz, P. Clenet, and R. Mazevet. A suburban home uproots itself to go on an adventure. Can be found here.
Autos Portraits by Claude Cloutier. Animated short film with a biting satire of car-dominated modern society, with a singing animate car as the center piece. NSFW! Thank you again @drinkingasoline for finding this one.
Theater
Inanimate by Nick Robideau. Local woman falls in love with Dairy Queen sign. Rest of town doesn't approve. Ends well, but the main character has to deal with ableism and objectophobia. Recently played at Theatre Wit in Chicago. Nick is confirmed to be objectum-friendly and appreciates people reaching out. The script can be bought here.
Objects of Her Affection by Marsian De Lellis. Local woman falls in love with various tragic objects and reflects on her life. Content warning: this does not end well for the woman or the objects. Marsian is confirmed to be objectum-friendly, but the play uses a lot of dark humor and in general goes a lot of dark places. Watch only if you know you can handle it. Read more and see clips here.
Erika's Wall by Sophie Jaff. To be honest I barely know anything about this, it ran before my time in the OS community, but a song from the play survives. Listen to it here.
Other
Sentient ship-lovers, go listen to Julia Ecklar's Iron Mistress, about a pilot lamenting and praising her love of her spaceship! And also The Phoenix, about a human soul reborn into a space shuttle. Listen to Iron Mistress here, and The Phoenix here. Sorry that quality is so poor but it's hard to find good recordings of these things.
Everything is Alive podcast by Ian Chillag. The host interviews a score of inanimate objects. The elevator episode briefly goes into objectum territory on the side of the object. Listen to it here.
If you liked Norman McLaren's "Opening Speech", also check out this clip of ventriloquist Ronn Lucas having a bit of a fight with his microphone. See it here, with the timestamp set to start when he actually begins his act.
--
If you're wondering how I have so many reccs, I have been hunting objectum and machine-animistic media for over 10 years now. Waving hello at everyone who can immediately identify me based off of mentioning Your Cities and On the Animation of the Inorganic.
I'll edit this post as I find or remember more things. Please feel free to add to this through reblogs or make your own list!
Pinging @objectum-media to request these get added to the archive (also please add both Sense of Longing and Handle With Care on there if you have time).
Additionally: Some of these pieces are at risk of being lost since they are niche. If you've enjoyed any of these works, I would like to ask you to preserve it on your own computer or get a physical copy or what have you, so these things can come back even if they were to be removed by the internet. I lost an excellent play script about a man who befriended the Twin Towers because the author went dark and deleted all of his work, and I constantly lament that I couldn't save it. Keep circulating the tapes.

So I was looking around the bnha subreddit and found a forum asking who everyone's least favorite hero (besides endeavor because that would be too obvious). One comment talked about how uwabami wasted momo and itsukas potential, and one of the replies said this about momo:

live suchusoid reaction:

I'd tear this argument down myself, but I'm to tired and hungry, so I was wondering what your thoughts on this were.
Ugghhhh, it's 1 AM. I was gonna leave the rest of my asks for a more motivated me.
This has, officially, motivated me. For this ask specifically, the rest of y'all will have to wait.
So!
Momo's quirk is insanely powerful. Her quirk is creating objects out of her lipids, though the measure is never really clear.
She isn't even fazed by creating a canon. Which! By the way! A canon is roughly 600kg. Six. Hundred.
That is over 10 times her weight. And that isn't even the limit.
All we know is that she cannot create living organisms, but it's also not clear if this includes things such as bacteria. Because it's unclear, I'll only look at inanimate objects.
Momo is literally only held back by her creativity, and thus Horikoshi's creativity.
She's insanely powerful and versatile.
Oh, the villain has a fire quirk? Time to make a fite extinguisher!
Oh, the villain has a wood-based quirk? Time to make a flamethrower!
Oh, a civillian is bleeding out? Time to create a medkit!
Oh, someone's drowning? Time to make an oxygen tank!
Her quirk is only limited by what she knows and her ability to think on the fly. That is all. Because there is no known limit to how much she can make.
It isn't that her quirk isn't OP, it's that Horikoshi didn't allow Momo to use her quirk to her full capacity.
Like, against Tokoyami, she could have easily created flashbombs to weaken him, or a flamethrower to keep a consistent amount of light.
She could destroy Bakugou simply by creating gunpowder and throwing it at him - he'd blow himself up. Or making a hose and spraying him.
Most of all: she could make a gun. Like, it's so weird that so many mangakas forget that guns exist, because so many people in MHA could be beaten by a gun.
Momo has the ability to create anything she needs to beat her opponent. It's literally just her ability to adapt and her (or Horikoshi's) creativity.
Fucking– LOOK AT FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST!
Ed is far more limited in his alchemy than Momo is with her quirk, in that he can only transmute things if the cost is equivalent. But he's still far more creative than Momo is in the use of his abilities.
Heck, even Senkuu from Dr. Stone has more creativity than Momo, and he doesn't have any supernatural abilities.
Momo's quirk is OP, and she would be awful as plain fanservice.
I'm not against fanservice. Heck, I love both One Piece and Fairy Tail - fan service is not unwelcome. But, fan service should be done in moderation and some series just don't need it. Also, the context does matter.
Bringing up FMA again, the only fan service we get is from Lust who, shocker, is the personification of lust. Her entire being is lustful, so it makes complete sense for her to be fan service. But she also serves other purposes, and doesn't exist solely for fan service.
In MHA, it's fine to include fan service if it has a point.
Mount Lady is introduced via fan service to show how female heroines have to act in order to gain fame. Uwabami emphasises this, as does Midnight.
However, a theme that was (attempted to be) shown was 'Old vs New Generation'. All those heroines showcasing their fan service were part of the older generation, and the new one was supposed to change the status quo.
Momo and Kendou were both shown to be disgruntled at the idea of using their sexuality to gain fame, and were far more focused on actually becoming heroes and bettering their abilities.
To say that Momo should have only existed for fan service is completely missing the point and invalidating her character.
If anything, she should have been able to show skin without it being sexualised. In the same way male fan service was used to show strength, Momo (and other female characters) should have had fan service to show their strength, rather than being sexualised.
People like the person in that image frustrate me, because they have no idea what they're talking about.
"At best, a canon that doesn't move," NO!
At best, a fucking hydrogen bomb. She could create nuclear weapons. She could do so much, it's Horikoshi who limits her.

Cosmic Trinity Talon Abraxas Hari Om Mantra: Hari Om Tat Sat - God is the Supreme Reality. Hari Om Soham - God I AM, I AM God. Hari Om Sat Nam - God is my True Self.
The Vedas are the main and intrinsic part of the Hindu mythology. Hindu mythology roots back to 7200 BC when the first hymns of the RIG VEDA was composed. There is no systematic theology in the Vedas. The hymns of the RIG VEDA are the first and freshest expression of the sense of beauty and gladness awakened in the Aryan race by the charms and the bounty of nature. The gods of the Vedas are in their apparent origin no more than the poetic epithets of space, the heavens, the firmament, sun and earth, day and night, twilight and dawn, wind and rain, storm and sunshine; all ministering to the divine care of man, in the breathing air and radiant light, the fleeting moon and constant stars, the rising mists and falling dews and the rivers which flow down the hills through the fruitful plains making with the flocks and herds and woods and fields, one ceaseless voice of praise and adoration. The etymological meaning of the epithets is so clear that it at once explains the myths, which, in the course of time became attached to them. Thus the VEDAS mirror the exactly how the words uttered centuries ago by the Vedic RISHIS (bards) and sages gradually became the gods of India. VEDIC GODS assumed the most undoubted personality, of the real qualities intended to be expressed by their names. They have no fixed hierarchy, or regular genealogy, no settled marriages and relationships; they remain to the last transparent reflections of those physical phenomena and powers of which they are the earliest known appellations. They were mere abstractions, intangible and illusive personification of powers of Nature. It is only in the Puranas that they become invested with strong personality, and it is their order among the Puranic gods that the conventional representation of them in the later mythology of the Hindus was more appropriately described. Rig Veda - lore of the verses, enumerates numerous Vedic Gods. The earliest accepted Gods were DYAUSH PITA (the sky father), PRITHVI MATHA (the earth mother), VAYU(the wind God), PARJANYA (the rain God), SURYA (the sun God), VARUNA (the God of oceans), AGNI (the fire God), INDRA (the war God), SOMA (the God of speech, deity of soma creeper), USHAS (the Goddess of dawn), YAMA (the God of death), ADITYAS (a group of deities, who are six in number in the Rig Veda, eight in most of the Brahmanas and twelve in the Satapatha Brahmana), ASWINI (twin Deities), RUDRAS (eight in number), VASUS (eight in number) and VISVEDEVAS ( ten in number). Vedic priests believed in ceremonies and rituals, which were offered to appease these Gods. No one Vedic God has been considered the Supreme God. In fact, different Gods have been considered as Supreme at different times, attributing the powers and qualities of one to another. Apart from Gods who have been attributed specific characteristics, several inanimate objects, qualities, emotions and various forms of nature had also been deified and worshipped. What began as a celebration of natural elements such as Air, Water and Fire was converted into the worship of cosmic elements such as the sun, moon and stars. And thus formed the triad of the early VEDIC GODS - AGNI (god of fire), VAYU (god of air) and SURYA (god of energy or life) - THE COSMIC TRINITY. These were all sons of PRITHVI (Mother nature) and DYAUS (the sky). In addition to this the nine planets (NAVAGRAHA) were also worshipped.

When Magical Tools Have Agency
This is something I will go into depth more in a post I have planned about servitors and servitor creation but I would be remiss not to mention the idea of agency when it comes to magical tools, in particular.
We are certainly not unfamiliar with the notion of inanimate objects having their own ‘souls’ or ‘personalities’. I mean, who hasn’t blamed a computer or other household appliance for ‘acting up’? I, for one, talk to things around my house fairly frequently, asking them for cooperation. Magical tools can similarly seem to gain human traits that can become more apparent or developed with use. (I’ve heard many practitioners specifically talk about the ‘moods’ or ‘personalities’ of their tarot and oracle decks—how some can be ‘blunt’ or ‘sassy’ while others are ‘straightforward’ but ‘gentle’ or even ‘sympathetic’.)
I think the personification of magical tools falls roughly into two categories: one being that the ‘personality’ of a specific item can develop or evolve with use but its agency was not something that was originally part of its creation; and the other being that the tool was created with the intention of having a certain level of agency or was even enchanted to carry an entity within it.
While I did not mention this in my introductory post to creating magical tools, I do strongly believe that this is something to consider when making a new tool or establishing its use(s). On one hand, it can be fun to develop a relationship with your tools and see if any personality or agency emerges but on the other, it can be useful to have that locked in before furthering your magical work with them. I don’t think there is a right or wrong way to approach this but I do think that having an understanding of a tool’s agency, or lack thereof, can play a significant role in determining how reliable it can be for you.
This post is part of my Magi Praxis series. If you have any suggestions for future topics, or you have attempted anything I have shared and want you share your experiences, please send me a message! I am always happy to go back and provide further explanation as well. ☆

a little ramble about the first two lines of good morning world! by burnout syndromes because I love it dearly and WILL burst into tears if I think about the lyrics even if I'm in public (if you catch me tearing up on a bus with my headphones on then that's probably why).
now, i'm not the best at english as a subject so this probably won't be a proper, formal analysis but stay with me!!
(essay under the cut as to not clog up dgafer's feeds with my brain dump)
the first two lines in question are, of course, 'おはよう世界 (ohayou sekai), good morning world!'
a couple of things that have stood out to me about these lines after overthinking them:
the meaning/implication of 'good morning world!' itself
and the fact that burnout syndromes have essentially repeated the same statement, but in two languages
first, to preface, one of the major things i love about dr stone is its attitude towards science. i find that typically, in our culture?, science is treated as EMOTIONLESS and OBJECTIVE and FACTS DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS. alpha male 'look im better than you because i KNOW how THINGS WORK and it has nothing to do with womanly FEELINGS' or some shit, but senku's version of science is an expression of the inherent human nature and spirit - it's fun, it's curious, and most importantly, it helps people. science is possibly the most human thing of all. and by extension, dr stone's attitude towards humanity as a whole is that we are inherently kind and will always do our best to help others. which, realistically, might not be necessarily true, but it's something i do like to believe in.
anyway, this statement 'good morning world!' greets the world, treating it like a person, or even a friend. the exclamation mark also indicates enthusiasm and cheerfulness. tbh, it's a phrase i would expect a child to say. which is not a bad thing! in contrast, i think it works to set the hopeful and joyful tone that is present in dr stone. also, there's something to be said about childlike wonder and how children are generally the most openminded. and that they're always asking 'why' and actively learning how the world works by piecing together all their experiences to paint an interpretation of this world and reality that they've been thrown into. and that they do it almost unconsciously, their little mission to figure out how the world works, and in a way all of us are born scientists. and something about how children are, like, the 'purest' form of humans, before they're shaped and pulled around to slot into modern society. the human essence and science are inextricably linked - again, science is so, so human.
'good morning' indicates a start or a beginning, and alludes to the start of senku's journey throughout the story. and, i may be starting to reach, but it feels like a greeting that implies the speaker is looking forward to spending the day with 'the world'. which is the personification and enthusiasm again!
the line also reminds me of how programmers will often, before anything else, print "hello, world!" when learning a new programming language. it's like,,,when a new program spits out 'hello, world!', it's kind of like it's a new life that's introducing itself to the big, wide world??? (like a child, i daresay..??) which i find so cute, that it's standard for programmers to first let their programs say this, when computers themselves are kind of 'known' for their, well, lack of consciousness and their objectivity.
something about how both 'good morning world!' and 'hello, world!' are personifying scientific/'logical'/'objective' things, and how it's such an inherently human thing to do, to attribute human characteristics to inanimate objects. it's like how people will say please and thank you to chatgpt despite it, yk, being a computer. it's like how people will say sorry to furniture after bumping into it, or how they talk about the conditions in which appliances will function, like 'the toaster doesn't like it when the bread is too thick' or 'the car likes to warm up for a bit before driving'. the '[thing] likes/doesnt like [condition]' is lowkey the best way to describe the habits of objects like this. idk about you but 'the car likes to warm up a bit before driving' just feels more effective and almost more understandable? and i want to obey it more? than 'you need to let the engine run for a bit before driving'. it's so ingrained in us to be kind like this, to the point where we are being polite to things that aren't even alive, and to the point where it's easier to act in ways that ensure maximum efficiencies of machines when we think of them as 'liking' or 'disliking' certain conditions.
and the fact that 'good morning world!' is said in two languages gives access to a larger demographic of people. it also shows how this enthusiasm and spirit is not limited by nationality/people groups, but rather is more of a universal thing shared by people across the globe, reaching beyond language barriers, even if the sentiment is something that requires language to be expressed. also, i'm assuming that english is not burnout syndromes' usual choice of language, so making a point to also say this in english shows their own desire to express this to the world. it also highlights the importance of this phrase, which to me is what i've said above.
in conclusion: i think good morning world! is a PERFECT opening ost for dr stone, even judging by the first two lines ALONE. it captures the one of its central themes SO WELL and yes i did tear up a few times typing this.
thanks for reading my yapping!!!!!! and also if you have anything to add i'd love to hear it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#funnily enough i thought of most of this while in computer science class today#i feel like i repeated myself a lot#and still didn't get my core thinking process/takeaway across very well#oh well#i hope the vibes are there enough for yall to get the essence of what im saying#i love this show's portrayal of science it's UNREAL#dr stone#dcst#good morning world#burnout syndromes#dr stone analysis
