💖 & 🧠 for the fic writer ask game please? <3
hi hello!!! thank you for the ask!!! :) <3
💖 ahhhhh, tough question! i would say my fight scenes or writing action, whatever word you use to describe that type of writing lol. i once got told my fights were pretty realistic and fun to read, and i ran with it (absolutely inflated my ego ngl), i kind of pride myself on them though it also means they have to be perfect
🧠 oh man, i have a few that are just outlines but most usually have a few drabbles or scenes associated with them that i tinker with when bored. BUT i do have a spider-cat jaydick au that is only worldbuilding notes at this point (and im not actively working on), so please enjoy my notes on that :)
(stuffing it under a keep reading thingy bc its a lot, sorry!)
Spider-Cat Jaydick AU
Working Summary: After the death/retirement of Spider-Woman Barbara Gordon, Gotham hits a dark patch. But unfortunately or fortunately, another radioactive spider bites Jaye Todd-Wayne on a school field trip to Fox Corp/Wayne Tech. Knowing Crime Alley, Jaye’s home (despite being adopted by billionaire Bruce Wayne), is in trouble without a Spider guardian, Jaye decides to take it upon herself to be the next Spider.
It’s not without its…problems.
Barbara as Spider-Woman Main Cast
Barbara Gordon = Spider-Gwen/Spider-Woman aka Gwen Stacy (Earth-65)
Commissioner Jim Gordon = NYPD Chief George Stacy
Harvey Bullock = Captain Frank Castle
Renee Montoya = Detective Jean DeWolff
Dinah Drake Lance = Mary Jane Watson (of the Mary Janes Band)
Alysia Yeoh = Betty Brant (of the Mary Janes Band)
Kori Anders = Glory Grant (of the Mary Janes Band)
Ted Kord = Peter Parker (aka Lizard, Earth-65)
Luke Fox = Harry Osborn (close friend to Gwen & Peter, Earth-65)
Lucius Fox = Norman Osborn
Jaye Todd-Wayne as Spider-Woman II or Ghost Spider Main Cast
Jaye Todd-Wayne = Spider-Woman II or Ghost Spider (aka Miles Morales)
Talia al Ghul and Bruce Wayne = Rio and Jefferson (Davis) Morales

Selina Kyle = Black Fox
Bane = Rhino

Rose Wilson* = Ana Kravinoff (Kraven’s daughter)
Carmine Falcone/Falcone Crime Family = Hammerhead

Cindy Moon (Silk) = Cassandra Cain
Matt Murdock (Daredevil) = Helena Bertinelli*
Madame Web (Cassandra Webb) = Ma Gunn
The Tinkerer (based on the game Spider Man) = Lonnie Machlin or Dana Harlowe
*Helena could either be Daredevil or Glory Brant (of the Mary Janes Band), whether you want to have her as a vigilante or just a civilian
Additional Notes:
Barbara’s main villains were Doc Ock, Vulture, Lizard, Shocker, and Mysterio. The only villains present during her tenure were: Doc Ock, Vulture, Lizard I, Mysterio, Sandwoman, Kingpin, Black Cat, Silvermane, Tombstone, Hammerhead, Electro, Swarm, Prowler, and Shocker.
>>Barbara knew Kraven the Hunter was active and a villain via Dick, but never fought him personally.
>>Barbara mainly fought her big three: Doc Ock, Shocker, and Lizard. She also handled a lot of mafia/gang related crimes, in conjunction with her father’s work.
>>Barbara’s toughest battles were with Lizard I (mainly emotional) and Doc Ock.
Jaye’s main villains are Green Goblin/Two Faced Goblin, Kingpin, Mister Negative, Venom & Carnage. The villains present during her tenure are: Doc Ock, Vulture, Lizard II, Mysterio, Sandwoman, Black Cat, Kingpin, Shocker, Electro, Rhino, Venom & Carnage, Kraven the Hunter, Grim Hunter & Ana Kravinoff, Prowler, Swarm, Mister Negative, Hammerhead, Tombstone, and Silvermane.
>>Jaye mainly fights her big four: Two-Faced Goblin, Kingpin, Mister Negative, and Venom & Carnage. Jaye also handles a lot of gang related activity but for different reasons than Barbara--whereas Barbara acted very much like a police detective, Jaye was trying to protect Crime Alley (aka Barbara worked with the police and Jaye does not).
>>Black Cat, Doc Ock, Lizard II, and Ana Kravinoff are technically “villains” but Jaye has good working relationships with them.
>>Jaye’s toughest battles are Venom & Carnage and Two-Faced Goblin (mainly emotional).
>>Jaye was adopted around 12-13, and grew up with Bruce and Talia (and later on, baby Damian), but also Uncle Harvey, Bruce’s best friend. Harvey, unfortunately, will be attacked and scarred by Tombstone (Maroni) and become the Two-Faced Goblin.
>>Unclear if Jaye knows Willis is Prowler.
>>Madame Web and Starling are newest additions to the hero community in Jaye’s time, and did not meet Barbara. Starling (Steph) knew of her because of her father and Madame knew her through her clairvoyance, but neither of them had ever met her face to face or interacted with one another.
And the lil drabble that started it all:
Out of all the leftover characters and remnants from Barbara’s time as Spidey, Black Cat is the only one she doesn’t mind.  Granted, he’s still a pain in the ass.  But, he also doesn’t try to kill her. Maim? Maybe, if she gets on his bad side. Use as a cat scratcher? More times than she can count, for no reason beyond “he was bored.”  He’s never gone for the jugular though and that she can appreciate.   And even she can admit, Barbara had good taste in men.

Ramble of the month February 2024: 90’s MCU phase 5 – transitioning from Secret Wars to Infinity Wars
Having spent much of last month and a fair bit of this one working on submissions to literary agencies for my autism book, this month’s ramble and the one for next month took a bit of a back seat, and as such I’ve still not been able to vary myself away from delving further into my hypothetical Marvel and DC film universes.  Apologies to anyone who, like me, were hoping to vary things more.  However, hopefully what we cover in this ramble and the next will make up for it, and as April will be Autism Awareness time, I can guarantee something different for then.
By this point, I’m sure readers don’t need as much of a recap on what these posts to do with my 90’s-based MCU are about.  Long story short, I’ve done what the meme makers don’t; looked at the comic book and real-world history of Marvel from that era to create an actual 90’s based MCU instead of putting 90’s actors into a present-day MCU.  However, as we’re into a fifth phase and well past the 1990’s, we should at least quickly review phases 1-4 first.
Phase 1:
1992: Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man
1993: Thor, Spider-Man, Ant-Man & The Wasp
1994: Captain America: Fantastic Four 2, Iron Man 2
1995: X-Men, Avengers, Daredevil
Phase 2:
1996: Spider-Man 2, Thor: Land of Enchantment, Silver Surfer
1997: Hulk vs Wolverine, Fantastic Four: Doomsday, Iron Man 3
1998: Captain America: Society of Serpents, Daredevil 2, X-Men 2
1999: Avenger 2, Spider-Man 3, Doctor Strange
Phase 3:
2000: Fantastic Four: World War III, Thor: Ragnarök, Daredevil 3
2001: Hulk: Rise of the Leader, X-Men: Fall of the Mutants, Avengers: Under Siege
2002: Doctor Strange 2, The Captain, Spider-Man 4
2003: Captain Britain, Fantastic Four: Enter the Negative Zone, Ghost Rider
Phase 4:
2004: Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Secret Wars: Part I
2005: Excalibur, Defenders, Ghost Rider 2
2006: X-Factor, Secret Wars: Part II, Heroes For Hire
2007: Namor the Submariner, Doctor Strange 3, Iron Man: Enter The Mandarin
As discussed in previous rambles, phase 1 was all about establishing the MCU and its characters, phase 2 was about the expansion and development of the continuity, while phase 3 was mostly about many characters and teams losing, being put on the back foot and so on.  Phase 4 then covered Secret Wars, which temporarily deprived Earth of some major MCU heroes to put them through a real alien war, and in the process also allowed some other heroes to come to the fore.  Phase 5 then becomes about following on from some of those plot threads while beginning the set-up for this MCU’s version of the Infinity War.  So, let’s quickly show you the phase 5 slate and then get right into the details of these would-be films.
Phase 5:
2008: Spider-Man 5, Fantastic Four: Unthinkable, Ms Marvel
2009: Elektra, Black Panther 2, Defenders 2
2010: X-Men: Proteus, Spider-Man 6, Ant-Man 2
2011: Silver Surfer 2, Avengers vs X-Men, Ghost Rider 3
Spider-Man 5 (2008) Directed by Matthew Vaughan
Peter Parker/Spider-Man = Wil Weaton
May Parker = Marg Helgenberger
Flash Thompson = Ben Affleck
J. Jonah Jameson = J.K. Simmons
Joseph "Robbie" Robertson = Denzel Washington
Betty Brant = Parker Posey
Ned Leeds = John Barrowman
Eddie Brock = Wentworth Miller
Randy Robertson = Taye Diggs
Harry Osborn = Ryan Phillipe
Mary-Jane Watson = Alison Hannigan
Herman Schultz/Shocker = Patrick Muldoon
Felicia Hardy/The Black Cat = Elisha Cuthbert
Roderick Kingsley/Hobgoblin = Michael Keaton
Quentin Beck/Mysterio = Nathan Fillion
Captain Jean DeWolff = Jessica Biel
Detective Stanley Carter/”Sin Eater” = James Marsden
In the first three Spider-Man films, we built up to Peter befriending the Osborns and dating Gwen, only for the Green Goblin/Death of Gwen story arcs to play out in Spider-Man 3.  The fourth film then gave Peter a clash with the Sinister Six as he struggles to come to terms with Gwen’s death.  Following Secret Wars, Peter now has the alien costume, and so film 5 is basically the alien costume story arc.  Sounding a little too much like the Raimi/Maguire Spider-Man 3?  Trust me, it’s not like that and for two key reasons.  Firstly, I’m not trying to shoe-horn Venom in for the third act, just set him up for another film.  Second, I’ve chosen Wentworth Miller of Prison Break and The Flash fame to play Eddie Brock, and that’s far from being our only change.
In this film, Peter’s occupied trying to stop a series of illusion thefts being committed on behalf of a new “kingpin”, who turns out to be the Hobgoblin, while also having to track down a notorious serial killer called the “Sin Eater”.  As the alien costume influences Peter ever more, the question becomes less will he stop all the criminals, but rather will he become one.  Matters are further complicated when costume thief Black Cat begins seducing Spider-Man and the alien costume pushes Peter to accept this despite his relationship with Mary-Jane.  The film culminates with a chance clash with the Shocker revealing the alien nature of Peter’s costume, forcing him to finally fight it off.  Eddie Brock gaining the symbiote is then handled in a credit’s scene.
Direction-wise, I picked Matthew Vaughan as he’s a proven superhero film director due to his work on X-Men: First Class.  He’s the fourth director to take a hand on Spider-Man solo film in this hypothetical MCU, with John Hughes having directed the first two, and 3 and 4 being handled by Frank Darabont and Martin Campbell, respectively.
Fantastic Four: Unthinkable (2008) Directed by Roland Emmerich
Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic = Tom Hanks
Susan Storm (Richards)/Invisible Woman = Meg Ryan
Johnny Storm/Human Torch = David Spade
Ben Grimm/Thing = Bryan Cranston

Agatha Harkness = Angela Lansbury
Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom = Goran Višnjić
Hauptmann = Ronald Guttman
Nick Fury = Tommy Lee Jones
Black Bolt = Pierce Brosnan
Medusa = Elizabeth Hurley
Crystal = Dina Meyer
Gorgon = J.G. Hertzler
Karnak = Alexander Siddig
Triton = Orlando Bloom
T'Challa/Black Panther = Chadwick Boseman
Namor McKenzie/The Submariner = Christian Bale
Barbara "Bobbi" Morse/Mockingbird = Rebecca Romijn-Stamos
Jericho Drumm/Brother Voodoo = Doug E. Doug
Having had the Fantastic Four directed by Leonard Nemoy (films 1-2), Steven Spielberg (films 3-4) and Ridley Scott (film 5), this MCU closes out their share of films under the stewardship of Roland Emmerich, notable for such films as Independence Day, White House Down and Midway.  This film adapts the events of the storylines ‘Unthinkable’ and ‘Authoritative Action’, but leaves the events of ‘Hereafter’ to the comics and begins introducing the Infinity Stones.  Since non-comics fans and fans who haven’t read those stories won’t get those references, let’s do a quick summary.
In the comics, Doctor Doom turned to magic for an attack on the Fantastic Four, which resulted in Reed and Sue’s son Franklin being taken to hell, and the team having to storm Latveria to get him back.  During the incident, Doom scarred Reed before being dragged into hell.  Afterwards, Reed seized control of Latveria to dismantle Doom’s arsenal and craft a permanent prison for Doom, one in which Reed would serve as warden.  However, when the rest of the team tried to stop Reed, Doom somehow began to possess each in turn, ultimately forcing Reed to kill Ben Grimm just to stop Doom.  The events of the Hereafter arc involved a trip into the afterlife to bring Ben back, in the process healing Reed’s scars.
In this film, Franklin is kidnapped and taken to a demon dimension, and Sue leads a rescue team comprised of her, Ben Grimm, Brother Voodoo and the Black Panther to save Franklin while Reed and Johnny attack Doom, aided by the Inhumans and Namor the Submariner.  The attack seemingly defeats Doom, after which Reed leads the F4 to Latveria, seizing control of the nation.  Fearing Doom is somehow influencing Reed, Nick Fury of SHIELD intervenes along with Mockingbird, Voodoo, Namor and T’Challa, only for the seemingly captured Doom to begin telepathically controlling the other F4 members.  Ultimately, Reed manages to force a feedback that wipes Doom’s mind, but in the process, Ben Grimm dies as he does in the comics.  With Ben’s death, the Fantastic Four decide to step back from hero work, becoming a think tank called the Future Foundation.
The bulk of the film’s cast is from past films, with the only new addition being mystical nanny Agatha Harkness, played by Angela Lansbury in better keeping with the comics version of the character.  As for the Infinity Stone I mentioned, that would be the mind stone, which Doom uses to control the various F4 members until Reed works out Doom is channelling the stone’s power and creates the feedback.
Ms Marvel (2008) Directed by Gates McFadden
Carol Danvers/Ms Marvel = Melissa Joan Hart
Michael Barnett = Brian Krause
J. Jonah Jameson = J.K. Simmons
Frank Gianelli = Rory Cochrane
Tracey Burke = Kate Mulgrew
Tabitha Townsend = Kyla Pratt
Lynn Andersen = Amanda Seyfried
Mystique/Raven Darkholme = Connie Nielsen
Rogue = Anna Paquin
Avalanche = Alessandro Gassmann
Fred J Dukes/Blob = Vince Vaughan
Pyro = Hugh Jackman
Irene Adler/Destiny = Sally Field
When it comes to trying to tackle Carol Danvers in films, one story that’s yet to hit the big screen is the story of her downfall against the X-Man Rogue back when Rogue was part of Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.  Indeed, the 90’s animated series of the X-Men is the only adaptation to handle this, and they did it by neatly sidestepping some disturbing backstory.  Long story short, there was a story arc in the Avengers comics around the late 70’s/early 80’s where Carol (then codenamed Ms Marvel) was mind-controlled and raped by an extra-dimensional being so he could be reborn in a body compatible with Earth, then after fast-growing to adulthood, his presence caused a bunch of time disruptions.  When Carol then agreed to go with this being, the Avengers made no effort to prevent this.
When Chris Claremont wrote Rogue into Avengers Annual 10 and showed Rogue rocking Carol’s powers, the question that came to be asked was why Carol hadn’t sought out the Avengers upon returning to Earth, and the answer was made clear.  The team hadn’t shown any real concern for Carol during her strange accelerated pregnancy, and then let her go off with a blatantly mind-controlling rapist from another dimension.  As such, telling the story of Carol clashing with Rogue and the Brotherhood should never be an exact re-telling.  Claremont’s story in Avengers Annual 10 was as much about correcting what the writer of the main comics at that time had written, and with film adaptations, you’re better off just taking a different path entirely.
In this case, we’re showing Carol working as an investigative journalist for a Daily Bugle-owned women’s magazine, who uses the Ms Marvel identity to tackle crime where needed.  This is based on her original run in the comics, so we have Jameson borrowed from the Spider-Man films while using the magazine staff from the comics for supporting roles.  As for the villains, roles from past films like Mystique and Pyro are combined with newly cast actors to give us our second MCU Brotherhood.  The film draws in a mix of acting talent, with Melissa Joan Hart reprising the role of Carol Danvers, and Trek alumni Gates McFadden directing the film.  McFadden has played the mutant Plague/Pestilence for three X-films before this and has some directing experience, making her a good choice for this project.
Elektra (2009) Directed by Roxann Dawson
Elektra Natchios = Leonor Varela
Stick = Scott Glenn
Stone = Sigourney Weaver
Kirigi = Daniel Henney
Frank Simpson/Nuke = John Cena
Matsu'o Tsurayaba = Hiroyuki Sanada
Kwannon = Kelly Hu
Turk Barrett = Gary Dourdan
The story of Elektra following her death in Daredevil is one Fox didn’t quite get right, in large part because they tried to incorporate plot elements and tropes that didn’t tonally fit with the character.  Having used two Daredevil films to set her up before giving the character a one-shot solo film, I think the best thing is taking those bits out.  Instead, we get the Hand going after the Chaste with Elektra in the middle, and when Elektra proves more than they can handle, they bring in the pill-popping assassin known as Nuke.  It’s a straight-up martial arts action film initially, but then becomes a more Punisher-like action film when Nuke comes on the scene.
Trek alumni Roxann Dawson takes the helm because she’s one of the few women I know of that would be directing anything back around this time.  Considering that films with female leads are often better handled by female directors, it makes sense to try and make this the case wherever possible.  The cast is either retained from past films of picked to be more comic-accurate.  Case-in-point, picking American actor Scott Glenn to play Stick rather than English actor Terrence Stamp.
Black Panther 2 (2009) Directed by Tim Burton
T'Challa/Black Panther = Chadwick Boseman
Shuri = Tatyana Ali
Ramonda = Alfre Woodard
T'Chaka = Courtney B. Vance
W'Kabi = Chiwetel Ejiofor
Okoye = Nia Long
Zuri = Joseph Marcell
M'Baku = Idris Elba
Nakia = Lupita Nyong'o
Monica Lynne = Kerry Washington
Baron Macabre = Sterling K Brown
Jerome Beechman/Mandrill = Joaquin Phoenix
Nekra Sinclair = Toks Olagundoye
Kevin Plundarr/Ka-Zar = Chris Hemsworth
Shanna O'Hara = Scarlett Johansson
Zaladane = Jolene Blalock
Everett Ross = Martin Freeman
In Black Panther 2, T’Challa becomes allied with Ka-Zar of the Savage Land when it turns out his hidden jungle in Antarctica houses a cache of Vibranium to rival Wakanda’s.  Most would-be Vibranium hunters baulk at trying to gain the Antarctic variety due to the dinosaurs, but soon both nations are threatened when the woman-controlling mutant Mandrill, his adoptive sister Nekra, the Savage Land priestess Zaladane and Wakandan criminal Baron Macabre team up.  Due to the inclusion of some of these villains, I opted to switch from Tim Story to Tim Burton from a directing stand-point.  This film also features a change of role for a couple of real-world MCU alumni.
Defenders 2 (2009) Directed by Stephen Sommers
Dr Stephen Strange = Johnny Depp
Namor McKenzie/The Submariner = Christian Bale
Bruce Banner/Hulk = John Cusack
Silver Surfer = David Wenham
Valkyrie = Diane Kruger
Kyle Richmond/Nighthawk = Josh Duhamel
Patsy Walker/Hellcat = Mena Suvari
Wong = Will Yun Lee
Clea = Keira Knightley
Jericho Drumm/Brother Voodoo = Doug E. Doug
Dr Anthony Druid = Mark Strong
Daimon Hellstrom = James Van Der Beek
Dr Tania Belinsky (Belinskaya)/Red Guardian = Beatrice Rosen
Dr Arthur Nagan = Julian McMahon
Dr Jerold "Jerry" Morgan = Stellan Skarsgård
Ruby Thursday = Alyssa Milano
Harvey Schlemerman/Chondu the Mystic = Stanley Tucci
Shuma-Gorath = Geoffrey Rush
The Defenders, Marvel’s superhero non-team, return for a second instalment at this point, and I’ve picked Stephen Sommers as director based on him directing a live-action GI Joe film around the same time.  In this film, the few routinely active Defenders learn via immigrant Russian doctor and superhero Red Guardian that a team of scientists called the Headmen have stolen the Reality Stone from AIM in an effort to seize world power for themselves.  Allying with Namor the Sub-Mariner, the Defenders seek to stop the Headmen while Clea joins with Brother Voodoo, Dr Druid and Daimon Hellstrom to try and bring back Doctor Strange from the extra-dimensional limbo he sacrificed himself to in Doctor Strange 3.  At the same time, the Silver Surfer seeks the Hulk.  The whole team then comes together when the Headmen open a portal for Shuma-Gorath, in the process transforming into their strange comic-style appearances.
Everyone from Dr Druid on down in the cast list is new.  As for why we’re skipping over the original male Red Guardian and focusing on the second female iteration for this MCU, there’s two reasons.  First, the second female iteration served as a Defender in the original comics, and second, these MCU rambles are focused on the main film continuity, which in this version of the MCU is strictly cinematic.  TV shows, while allowed as tie-ins, are optional content, and while I’d happily allow a TV show to dive in on Black Widow and some other characters, I think a film was and is a bit much for a character with so little solo comics content.
X-Men: Proteus (2010) Directed by LeVar Burton
Storm/Ororo Monroe = Halle Berry
Polaris/Lorna Dane = Jeri Ryan
Wolverine/Logan = Tom Cruise
Peter Rasputin/Colossus = Henry Cavill
Remi LeBeau/Gambit = Zachary Levi
Cyclops/Scott Summers = Patrick Swayze
Jean Grey = Milla Jovovich
Warren Worthington III/Archangel = Neil Patrick Harris
Beast/Hank McCoy = Alec Baldwin
Robert Drake/Iceman = Michael Weatherley
Banshee/Sean Cassidy = Liam Neeson
Dr Moira Mactaggert = Olivia Williams
Mystique/Raven Darkholme = Connie Nielsen
Rogue = Anna Paquin
Avalanche = Alessandro Gassmann
Fred J Dukes/Blob = Vince Vaughan
Pyro = Hugh Jackman
Irene Adler/Destiny = Sally Field
Professor Charles Xavier = Patrick Stewart
Kevin Mactaggert/Proteus = Iain De Caestecker
Joseph Mactaggert = John Hannah
Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane = Bonnie Wright
Danielle Moonstar = Selena Gomez
Jubilee = Chloe Bennett
Everett Thomas/Synch = Christopher Massey
Douglas Ramsey/Cypher = Devon Bostick
With the third X-Men film Fall of the Mutants having split the X-Men up, and a combination of the Secret Wars duology, Excalibur and X-Factor films following events for the divided team, this fourth X-Men film is intended to reunite some of the scattered team into a new whole.  It also gives Rogue her defection from the Brotherhood following the events of Ms Marvel.  In this film, Moira Mactaggert’s son Proteus emerges as a dangerous mutant and begins a rampage across to Scotland.  With Excalibur unavailable, X-Factor is summoned while the X-Men pursue Mystique’s Brotherhood to Scotland.  The two teams meet up and reunite when they find Professor X is also with Moira, having been recuperating on Muir Island since being released from a SHIELD hospital (this is set-up over end-credit scenes for Fall of the Mutants and X-Factor).
Direction-wise, the X-Men have been handled initially by Jonathan Demme and then Jonathan Frakes in films bearing their team’s name, while Excalibur was helmed by Christopher Nolan and X-Factor by LeVar Burton.  For this film, I’ve put Burton back in the director’s chair.  Casting-wise, I imagine same fans will be perplexed by my choice of Chloe Bennett for Jubilee.  This is because Bennett is of a mixed ancestry that includes having a Chinese mother, and while the ideal is always to try for exact representation from the comics, there aren’t many actresses active in Hollywood around the time of this film with even one parent of Chinese descent, let alone two.
As such, the question becomes which do you compromise; Jubilee’s racial background or her nationality?  My choice, compromise slightly on racial background and bring in some plot threads relating to prejudice against people of mixed race.  Quite honestly, characters of mixed race are among those groups under-represented in film and TV, so if I have to compromise, let me at least try and do so in a positive way.
Spider-Man 6 (2010) Directed by Matthew Vaughan
Peter Parker/Spider-Man = Wil Weaton
May Parker = Marg Helgenberger
J. Jonah Jameson = J.K. Simmons
Joseph "Robbie" Robertson = Denzel Washington
Betty Brant = Parker Posey
Ned Leeds = John Barrowman
Eddie Brock/Venom = Wentworth Miller
Randy Robertson = Taye Diggs
Mary-Jane Watson-Parker = Alison Hannigan
Flash Thompson = Ben Affleck
Felicia Hardy/The Black Cat = Elisha Cuthbert
Sha Shan Nguyen = Grace Park
Captain Jean DeWolff = Jessica Biel
Anne Weying = Michelle Williams
Principal Harrington = Viggo Mortensen
Lance Bannon = Hayden Christensen
Gloria "Glory" Grant = Candice Patton
In the sixth of our Spider-Man films, and the last to both start and end with Peter Parker wearing the webs, we showcase Peter and MJ preparing for their upcoming wedding, but the pair are stalked by Eddie Brock, who has now joined with the Venom symbiote and seeks to make Peter’s life hell.  He attempts to manipulate the Black Cat into being his co-conspirator as well, preying on her jealousy after the symbiote-free Spider-Man resists her seduction.  The story ultimately culminates in Venom trying to force Peter into a no-win situation where he has to choose who to save; Mary-Jane or Felicia.  Matthew Vaughan returns to direct, and we get a few extra supporting cast members in lieu of the various villains of Spider-Man 5.
Ant-Man 2 (2010) Directed by Peyton Reed
Hank Pym/Ant-Man = Michael Douglas
Scott Lang/Ant-Man II = Paul Rudd
Maggie Lang = Judy Greer
Cassie Lang = Joey King
William Cross/Crossfire = Ethan Hawke
Taskmaster = Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Alex Gentry/Porcupine = Nick Offerman
Janice Lincoln/Beetle = Naya Rivera
Having left Ant-Man alone in terms of solo films since phase 1, phase 2 marks a return for Hank Pym, who by this point has been out of action since a mental break-down forced him to retire.  Now of sound mind again, he tries to deal with tech thief Crossfire, who steals the prototype for a new, more aggressive variant of the Ant-Man suit, the Yellowjacket.  However, Hank’s old suit is not safe to use as it clashes with his neuro-chemistry, risking more mental break-down.  Even worse, it’s been stolen.  In tracking down the Ant-Man suit, Hank encounters desperate divorced father Scott Lang, who stole the suit to get money to cover his daughter’s medical treatment.
With this film, the aim is to pass the mantle of Ant-Man to Scott Lang in a more comics-accurate manner, while at the same time preserving certain casting that the MCU got right, hence why Pym, Scott and Maggie are all retained from the real MCU.  In terms of Cassie, I switched to Joey King as she’s had a remarkably steady record of employment for a non-Disney child actress, and I think she’s a great choice to take up this role for the remainder of this hypothetical MCU.  Direction-wise, I figured it best to stick with the choices of the real MCU and go for Peyton Reed, having had to go with Sam Raimi on the 90’s-made first Ant-Man of this MCU.
Silver Surfer 2 (2011) Directed by JJ Abrams
Silver Surfer = David Wenham
Thanos = Josh Brolin
Mentor = Michael McKean
Eros/Starfox = Joel McHale
Gamora = Zoe Saldana
Drax the Destroyer = Dean Cain
Adam Warlock = Chris Pine
Pip the Troll = Peter Dinklage
Nebula = Emma Stone
Mar-Vell/Captain Marvel = Jude Law
Following the events of Defenders 2, the Silver Surfer finds himself drawn into yet more Infinity Stone adventures when Kree hero Captain Marvel and the android Drax the Destroyer come to Earth with Adam Warlock, keeper of the Soul Gem.  Hot on their heels are Thanos and Nebula, each of whom has begun to seek the Infinity Stones.  Worse still, Mar-Vell is dying of cancer.  The film is meant to advance the Infinity Stones plot while also adapting the death of Mar-Vell from the comics, not to mention setting up for the Guardians of the Galaxy to appear in the next phase.
For direction, I’ve picked JJ Abrams based on his Star Trek and Star Wars work making him a decent choice for a space-based hero like the Silver Surfer.  In terms of casting, we have a few reprises from past films in this 90’s MCU and from the real MCU.  However, some shifts have also occurred, most notably with Drax due to wanting to use his original comics origins over the revised MCU/later comics version.  The would-be autistic representation of Bautista and Gunn’s Drax quickly become so much farce, so as an autistic person, I’d just as soon avoid that and go down the android route, thanks very much.
Avengers vs X-Men (2011) Directed by Jonathan Frakes
Cyclops/Scott Summers = Patrick Swayze
Jean Grey = Milla Jovovich
Storm/Ororo Monroe = Halle Berry
Wolverine/Logan = Tom Cruise
Peter Rasputin/Colossus = Henry Cavill
Remi LeBeau/Gambit = Zachary Levi
Warren Worthington III/Archangel = Neil Patrick Harris
Rogue = Anna Paquin
Steve Rogers/Captain America = Brad Pitt
Thor = Dolph Lundgren
Janet Van Dyne/Wasp = Catherine Zeta Jones
Iron Man/Tony Stark = Tom Selleck
Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk = Lucy Lawless
T'Challa/Black Panther = Chadwick Boseman
Sam Wilson/Falcon = Will Smith
Peter Parker/Spider-Man = Wil Weaton
Professor Charles Xavier = Patrick Stewart
Carol Danvers = Melissa Joan Hart
Mystique/Raven Darkholme = Connie Nielsen
Avalanche = Alessandro Gassmann
Fred J Dukes/Blob = Vince Vaughan
Pyro = Hugh Jackman
Irene Adler/Destiny = Sally Field
Frank Bohannan/Crimson Commando = Harrison Ford
Louis Hamilton/Stonewall = James Brolin
Martin Fletcher/Super-Sabre = Peter Fonda
Dr Valerie Cooper = Malin Åkerman
Sebastian Gilbreti/Bastion = Bruce Greenwood
Congressman Rev. William Stryker = Eric Roberts
Forge = Jimmy Smits
There have been two occasions in Marvel comics where the X-Men and Avengers have been drawn into direct conflict, at least using multiple issues of a comic and to my knowledge.  The first is the 1980’s mini-series X-Men versus Avengers, where the Avengers attempted to arrest Magneto to resume his trial before the world court, while the Soviet Super-Soldiers sought to arrest Magneto for his actions in X-Men #150.  As Magneto was part of the X-Men at the time, this naturally put all three teams at odds with each other.  The second occasion was the AvX storyline in which Cyclops, Emma Frost, Namor, Colossus and Magik became possessed by the Phoenix Force, something the Avengers tried to prevent and later combat.
While this film draws on the basic concept of both series, that something sets the Avengers and the X-Men at odds with each other, it’s not about arresting Magneto or issues with the Phoenix force.  Instead, the issue is Rogue; her status as a mutant terrorist is used to convince the Avengers to apprehend the X-Men.  This is bad timing, as the X-Men are working with Rogue to help restore the mind of Carol Danvers.  The masterminds of the plot are rabid anti-mutant politician William Stryker and government advisor Sebastian, who in reality is a new form of sentinel in disguise.  Luckily, government advisor and secret mutant Forge is suspicious of Bastion and convinces NSA director Dr Valerie Cooper to set up a contingency plan.
As a result, the film builds to a climax where, after the intervention of Spider-Man ends a major fight between the two teams, Bastion unleashes his prime sentinels.  Enter Mystique’s expanded Brotherhood in their guise as community service government heroes Freedom Force, and the stage is set for a truly epic battle.  Direction-wise, I opted for Jonathan Frakes to helm this entry, and while many actors are reprising roles from past films, everyone from Crimson Commando on down is new to the MCU as of this film.
Ghost Rider 3 (2011) Directed by Mark Steven Johnson
Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider = Connor Trinneer
Roxanne Simpson = Jessica Alba
Eric Brooks/Blade = Jamie Foxx
Rachel Van Helsing = Cote De Pablo
Daimon Hellstrom = James Van Der Beek
Vlad Tepish/Dracula = Mads Mikkelsen
Lilith = Felicity Jones
Mephistopheles = Jeffery Combs
Phase 5 of our 90’s MCU closes out by bringing Johnny Blaze’s time as Ghost Rider to its conclusion, in a story where Johnny teams up with Blade, Rachel Van Helsing and Daimon Hellstrom against Dracula and his daughter Lilith, who are secretly in league with Mephistopheles.  The film is partly an original plot and partly an adaptation of the end of the original Ghost Rider run of comics, though it’s far from being the last Ghost Rider film of this MCU.  Just as the comics would have others take up the Ghost Rider curse after Blaze, so too will this MCU move onto those later riders in turn.  Having used Tim Burton on the first two Ghost Rider films in this MCU, I’ve picked Mark Steven Johnson who handled the 2007 Nicholas Cage Ghost Rider film to take on this third instalment of 90’s MCU Ghost Rider.
This wraps up our look into phase 5 of this 90’s-based MCU; next month, we’ll cover phase 5 of our alternate DC movie universe.  Until then, ta-ta for now.

Anyway, Peter Parker is Bi, and I Won’t Be Convinced Otherwise.
Firstly, we have to get our bases covered. What exactly is Bi-sexuality? What is sexuality?
Sexuality is defined as a persons identity in relation to gender(s) they are attracted to. Why is this important? Peter’s sexuality has never been specifically stated in the comics, nor in any other form of media. It’s assumed that he is straight because of his popular relationship with Mary Jane Watson in the comics, and the movies.
Now that we have a bases for what exactly sexuality is and how it’s defined, let’s go over Peter’s partners.
Tumblr media
Obviously Peter and Mary Jane are a piece of comic book history. They eventually get married, though sadly, during the events of Civil War II (I think, don’t quote me) Peter and Mary Jane sell their marriage to Mephisto in order to save Aunt May
Tumblr media
They later had their memories of their marriage restored, they have yet to get back together and it’s been a few issues if I remember correctly. Next we have Peter’s first, and most unfortunate love, Gwen Stacy.
Tumblr media
They dated in high school where she later died. Of course, Peter has dated other people (namely, Black Cat, Betty Brant, Carol Danvers, Anna Maria, Cindy Moon, Lian Tang, and so on). Since we have his known history of heterosexuality out there, we need to move onto another important part of Peter’s Bi-sexuality. An important implication in any media, especially queer media though, and that is the homoerotic subtext.
Homoerotic subtext is important part of queer culture, a lot of the time it’s used to portray a characters queerness without saying it out (see: Dorian Gray by Oscar Wild or Great Gatsby By Fitz). In current decade, homoerotic subtext is often used for queer baiting or creating more realistic male friendships.
So what’s the difference between someone creating a health male friendship (or a character comfortable in their heterosexuality) and implying a character is queer?
Here are some examples of a healthy male character, both with himself and his friendships.
Tumblr media
Clearly he’s just taking the shit, and messing around with Reed. He’s comfortable enough (or as I like to see it, so traumatized because good god this guy has been Spider-Man since he was 15 good god that’s awful. He probably doesn’t care anymore). Here are some examples of Peter a little more than just a straight man shooting the shit.
Tumblr media
This has three meanings. Two of which I will take, one of which is just deeply embarrassing. Despite Peter’s history with humiliating events, I don’t think he would get his own spunk in his eyes. Leaving the other two options, he has experience getting spunk of - some kind - in his eyes, and/or he’s taking the shit again. Which is very likely.
Tumblr media
Kissing a cop? For....no reason? A little not so hetero of you Peter.
Tumblr media
You can practically hear his disappointment in his voice. Also could be read as taking the shit, but why would you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Making out with The Thing? Gay.
Tumblr media
This one is the most important. Peter is clearly tired, annoyed by his teammates (see wolverine being wolverine in the corner). Shits on fire, its mid battle, and Peter has the audacity to mutter “I hate men” to himself. The only people I have every heard say this in that was are lgbt and straight women, and lgbt men. This kind of expression only comes from people who date, or deal with men in a completely different world than straight men. Straight men use this phrase as an endearment, “Oh have you seen Bill today, I hate that guy.” “Man Jerry can do so many push-ups, I hate that guy.” Very different language, and implications (I also, obviously don’t know how straight men speak).
 Now that we’ve gone over our bases, and homoerotic subtext. How else could we gather that Peter Parker is Bi? There are many tropes in media - queer media - that allure to a characters queerness. Like homoerotic subtext, there are ways to tell an audience something without specifically saying it.
Tumblr media
This is a gay wedding Peter went to in the recent comics. I don’t know if any of you have been to a gay wedding recently, but Peters face (the first panel above the wedding) is the same exact face I made at my first gay wedding. It’s the face of excitement for not only the couple, but for yourself. The hope that maybe, you too can actually be in a same-sex relationship.
I’m also going to allure to queer tropes as stated previously. Such as the real, and fictional trope of lgbt people sticking together. Thousands of years of belittlement and oppression will make groups of people not want to wonder out, and subconsciously look for others like them.
Tumblr media
Johnny Storm (and Wade Wilson since he comes in later but I couldn’t find a picture of the confirmation) is cannon Bi-sexual (Pan-sexual).
Tumblr media
Their friendship is deeply homoerotic as most queer friendships in media and real life are. Johnny flirts with Peter on many occasions (saying his ideal women is a female version of Peter, inviting him over to watch is sex tape, and so on) and of course oh my god they were roommates.
Some other popular queer tropes are: Found Family, Soulmates, and Enemies to lovers. Because it’s superhero related, this includes the Identity Porn tag as well.
Peter Parker and Wade Wilson have a famous Love/Hate relationship. I mean, how could you expect anything less when your first meeting with this known mercenary is him throwing your civilian persona out the window of a car. Now, Wade still doesn’t know Peter is Spider-Man in the current run of comics, but that doesn’t make anything about them any less gay.
For the Found Family Trope:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because it’s Peter and Wade, their whole development can be read as Enemies to Friends to Lovers, so I wont bother backing that up because, uh, it speaks for itself. One panel really does to add that cause though
Tumblr media
I’m not going to explain what a free-pass list is.
The Soulmates part I know I have to back up.
For SoulMates:
Tumblr media
Now this panel requires a little explanation. Wade kills Peter, not knowing he’s Spider-Man. Weasel takes over for Peter (they don’t know its him) so no one suspects he’s dead. Deadpool begins to feel guilty he killed his best buds best bud, so he tries to bring Peter back to life. Losing his stunning good looks (switching back to how he looked before Weapon X making his wife Shiklah estranged (then she married Dracula but thats beside the point)). Spider-Man is Peter’s “true self” or patronus for Harry Potter fans. Wade is stupid and hasn’t connected the dots yet, effectively making him the biggest simp in history. Seriously, who destroys their marriage for the c h a n c e for getting some with their idol? A Simp, that’s who.
Tumblr media
Peter forgives Wade for killing him (and for saving him from killing their genetic daughter itsy-bitsy). If someone killed me they better be hot as fuck before I even thing about forgiving them. Ignoring Peter’s super sexy forgiving nature, uh, he’s kinda simping.
Tumblr media
Died in each others arms. Nothing else is needed.
Tumblr media
They’re heartmates. From what I read, the feeling has to be mutual in order for it to work. The witches (long story, comics are hard to explain) that captured deadpool were expecting his wife so they could get the headmistress back. Instead, they got Peter. Basically Heartmates = soulmates but chosen for you instead of chosen by you.
To conclude my point:

In a January 2011 interview with Newsarama, Flash Thompson was revealed "by accident" as the new host of Venom.[19] Marvel confirmed Flash was to have his own comic using a military style version of Venom. Despite previously seeming to come to terms with the loss of his legs, Flash jumps at the dangerous offer of being bonded to the Venom symbiote, as the alien will be able to replace his legs with its own bio-mass, allowing him to walk again. He was written as a hero working for the military, and encountered many heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe.[20] He made his premiere as Agent Venom in The Amazing Spider-Man #654 (Feb. 2011), and continues in his own Agent Venom ongoing series following the special The Amazing Spider-Man #654.1.
He cannot stay bonded to the Venom symbiote for more than 48 hours at a time, or the symbiote may gain complete control over him. The consequences of this are first seen when the suit causes Flash to go berserk and brutally slaughter a group of enemy operatives during his second mission, and again during a brawl with the Jack O'Lantern, ending with the suit putting a grenade in Jack O'Lantern's mouth.[21] While on a mission in the Savage Land, Flash finds himself being hunted by Kraven the Hunter who mistakes him for Spider-Man.[22]
During the 2011 "Spider-Island" storyline, Agent Venom is sent in to capture a spider-like beast that is fighting Firestar and Gravity. Agent Venom manages to capture the Spider King who he later discovers is Steve Rogers enslaved. Venom disguises himself as the Spider King in order to track the infestation to its source.[23] The Queen and Jackal send him to kill Anti-Venom because he is curing people who have gained spider-powers, but his superiors order him to take him to Mr. Fantastic to help develop a cure. Flash and the Venom-symbiote fight each other because Flash wants to bring Anti-Venom to Mr. Fantastic and the symbiote wants to kill Anti-Venom for previously rejecting it. This leads to Venom and Anti-Venom fighting. Venom wins the fight and delivers Anti-Venom to Mr. Fantastic.[24] Venom teams up with Red Hulk, X-23, Ghost Rider, and Johnny Blaze to fight Blackheart.[25]
He joins the Secret Avengers as Agent Venom.[26] As an Avenger, Flash apprehends the Human Fly,[27] but the Human Fly escapes via a prisoner transport to the Raft when the new Hobgoblin attacks the transport trying to kill the Human Fly for stealing money from the Kingpin.[28] Flash tries to assassinate the third Crime Master for threatening his family, but Eddie Brock attacks him as he is about to fire. This causes the Crime Master to have his new Savage Six attack Flash and Betty Brant.[29] While trying to protect Betty from Jack O'Lantern he reveals his identity to her.[30] Thunderbolt Ross recruits Venom to be part of his Thunderbolts team.[31]
Flash relocates to Philadelphia after fighting the U-Foes there.[32] While trying to capture a serial killer infected with some of the alien technology the U-Foes were trying to sell, so Beast could try to cure the man, he is attacked by Toxin.[33] While in Philadelphia, he adoptes a protege in his teenage neighbor Andrea "Andi" Benton, who upon bonding to a duplicate of the symbiote becomes the antiheroine Mania.
Flash returns to New York when Betty Brant contacts him with information that the Crime Master has resurfaced. Flash infiltrates and attacks Crime Master and his men until the Superior Spider-Man (Otto Octavius' mind in Spider-Man's body) and his Spiderlings intervene. Crime Master then reveals himself to be a small-time hood who had purchased the name and mask from Hobgoblin and turns himself in. Superior Spider-Man then turns his attention to Agent Venom with the intent on destroying him.[34] Flash escapes in a puff of smoke and hides in a hospital before going to Peter's apartment. Seizing opportunity, "Peter Parker" invites Flash to his company to give Flash prosthetic legs. After doing so, Superior Spider-Man detains the symbiote in a cage from which it soon breaks free and bonds to Superior Spider-Man, becoming the Superior Venom.[35] The symbiote tries to flee back to Flash, but Superior Spider-Man keeps it for himself, even going as far as to injure Cardiac when Cardiac tries to separate them.[36] Iron Man arrives to Parker Industries to assist both Cardiac and Flash in order to take him to the battle-zone and reunite him with the symbiote. The Avengers are starting to fall against the power of Superior Venom who boasts about his superiority until Iron Man arrives to distract him allowing Flash (wearing Iron Man's armor) attack from behind and attempt to retake the symbiote. With the unexpected assistance from Spider-Man's conscience, the Venom symbiote finally leaves Superior Spider-Man's body and reunites with Flash, bonding together again. The Avengers are still in disbelief about Superior Spider-Man's argument until they ask Flash to check his mind-link with the symbiote to see anything wrong about Superior Spider-Man's motives. Flash replies that he sees "two different radio stations playing in the same frequency".[37]
Following the conclusion of The Superior Spider-Man and the return of Peter Parker as Spider-Man, he learns that his friend Flash is Venom and became angry at the Avengers that they did not tell him. The Avengers confess that because Flash was a good soldier and the secret identities in the Avengers' rules goes both ways.[38]
Seeking to maintain a connection with the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Avengers placed Venom on said team as their new envoy.[39] At a point the Symbiote began to act strangely considering anyone as an enemy as something was tapping into its mind signalling it. Flash became extremely worried and, since he was left behind when the other Guardians were captured, he began to try to find a way back to Earth which the Symbiote encouraged. However, in its fear it killed people if they refused. Eventually Gamora found them but they attacked her thinking her as an enemy. Star-Lord manages to subdue the Symbiote but Flash goes into a coma.[40] The Symbiote breaks out on the ship and takes the ship to its planet of origin.[41] The planet of Symbiotes explains to the Guardians their origins of the Klyntar. However, Flash and the Venom Symbiote have created the perfect savior the Symbiotes want. This heals the Symbiote and allows Flash to tap into the full potential of the Symbiote.[42]

Venom then becomes the new intergalactic ambassador of Earth and an Agent of the Cosmos.[43]
During the 2016 "Civil War II" storyline, Flash is called back to Earth along with the other Guardians, during which he comes into conflict with Spider-Man, and repeatedly subdues him for not being the Spider-Man he knows. Prompting Miles to electrocute him with the Venom Blast, which blasted him into the open.[44] Andrea, who is host to the Mania symbiote, becomes more ruthless in her actions to the point of killing everyone she encountered. Venom manages to separate the symbiote from Mania, and absorb it into the Venom symbiote, though Andrea is corrupted by a demonic sigil called the Hell-Mark. Flash resolves to remain on Earth to care for Andi until he can find a way to remove the Hell-Mark permanently.[volume & issue needed]
Venom is later shown to have been somehow separated from Flash and it finds a new host in Lee Price.[45] It is eventually revealed that Flash was separated from Venom during a fight with an FBI agent outfitted with high-tech battle suit. The agent used a special weapon that agitated the Symbiote and sent it into a crazed state, which led to it fleeing into the city, where it eventually encountered Price, then reunites with Eddie Brock.[46][47]
Agent Anti-Venom and deathEdit
During the "Venom Inc." arc, Flash talks to Mania through her crimefighting, before she is taken down by Lee Price and a gang of thugs. Price is making good on his promise to re-take the Venom symbiote as he forcibly separates Mania from her symbiote and takes it himself. Meanwhile, Brock struggles to cope with the symbiote which has become increasingly violent and difficult to control. He turns to Alchemax to make a serum to help him out, but the medicine being created there is still experimental and may have some side effects. As Flash attempts to find Brock and get the symbiote back, Spider-Man is attempting to get rid of the symbiote once and for all, bringing the three together in a fantastic showdown as both Brock and Flash attempt to convince the symbiote to bond to them. As they struggle, Spider-Man chooses to douse them both with a vat of the Anti-Venom Serum. Instead of destroying the symbiotes, a new Anti-Venom arises: Flash Thompson. After Flash, Mania, Spider-Man, Black Cat, and Venom defeat Price, Flash entrusts the Venom symbiote to Eddie and goes back to heroics as Agent Anti-Venom.[48]
In the Go Down Swinging storyline, Norman Osborn returns with the Carnage symbiote bonded to him, making him the Red Goblin. He attacks New York City, and Silk, Clash, Spider-Man, Human Torch and Agent Anti-Venom tried to stop him.[49] Flash uses his Anti-Venom to heal any of Peter's friends and family that were infected by the Carnage symbiote, and discovers Spider-Man's secret identity in the process. Norman critically wounds Flash, who can no longer heal due to using the Anti-Venom to save the others. Peter offers to use the Venom symbiote to heal him, but Flash refuses, worrying that it would die with him and knows Peter needs an edge over Norman's new powers. He dies in Peter's arms and is honored by Peter and his friends at his funeral.[50]
Maker later obtains a piece of the symbiote taken from Flash's time as Agent Venom, which contains a copy of his consciousness. The sample is dubbed as a codex by the Maker. The brain dead symbiote absorbs the sample during Venom's escape from Project Oversight, and with Eddie Brock's permission the copy takes control and transforms into Agent Venom. Flash's consciousness burns out shortly after.[51]
King in BlackEdit
It was later revealed however, that Flash still existed within the Symbiote hive-mind. He joined Rex Strickland's army of former symbiote hosts when the dark symbiote god Knull started invading Earth, recovering his Anti-Venom symbiote replica. When Eddie Brock died and joined Rex's army, Flash was there to greet him.[52] When Thor and Eddie's son Dylan began freeing hosts from their symbiotes and fighting Knull, a red gash appeared - formed from the dissolved symbiotes of the recently freed hosts - and Flash followed Eddie and Rex through it into the core of the Hive-Mind, the place where they were before having been a "purgatory" for codices. The three of them noticed that the symbiotes freed from Knull's control were being imprisoned and formulated a plan to bond to them the way Flash once had the Venom symbiote. Despite Eddie's protests, Flash volunteered to free the imprisoned symbiotes and "download" himself into one of them, acknowledging this was his mission from the beginning and that Eddie was a hero too. Their plan worked, and Flash was incarnated in the world of the living as a symbiote dragon resembling his Anti-Venom symbiote.[53] Informed by Eddie of what had happened when Cletus Kasady's corpse had bonded to a symbiote-dragon, Flash flew to the cemetery where his body had been buried and reanimated himself, bursting from his grave in a recreation of his human form

Note
not to be dumb on main, but I’ve only rly seen the mcu and not read many comics and I was wondering if you could tell me the reasons you ship spideytorch? Esp bc it’s spideytorch week
I can do that, especially in light of it being Spideytorch week. (I can even tie it into the first two days of @spideytorchweek‘s themes because I’m brilliant like that.)  If you’re coming from a mostly MCU background, what you need to know about Spider-Man comics is that, by in large, they’re a very different animal, especially in terms of Peter’s personality and supporting cast. Unlike in the MCU, he doesn’t have a best friend in high school – there is a Ned Leeds in comics, but he’s a reporter for the Bugle who functions as Peter’s rival for the affections of his first girlfriend, Bugle secretary Betty Brant, and Peter wouldn’t meet Harry Osborn or become friends with Flash Thompson until he entered college. If Peter does have a male friend he’s close to during this point, for the relative value of “friend”, it’s Johnny Storm.
Peter and Johnny first meet in the very first issue of Amazing Spider-Man. This is partially because the Fantastic Four’s brief appearance in the issue were used promote this new superhero book. One thing you have to understand at this point is that the Fantastic Four were wildly popular at their debut, and featuring them in the first solo Spider-Man story was a surefire way to get people to pick up the book. What this ending up cementing was a long and storied in-universe connection between Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four. Peter’s served as an Avenger in 616, but he’s family to the Fantastic Four.
Not that Peter and Johnny got along at first.
Tumblr media
(Amazing Spider-Man #1)
Tumblr media
(Amazing Spider-Man #8)
Tumblr media
(Strange Tales Annual #2) There was some pretty extreme pigtail pulling going on at first from Peter towards Johnny.
This is one of the premier friendships – developing at this point as it is – in Marvel comics. It basically predates all of the other big ones: Captain America and Iron Man, Luke Cage and Danny Rand, any other big Spider-Man friendship. This came first. There’s a lot of reasons for that – team ups between the Human Torch, who at this point was big enough to have his own run on Strange Tales in addition to the Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man, an instant hit with fans, was good for the sales on both books, and the relationship made sense and was organic because both characters were teenagers who were the same age, who had gained powers in fantastic accidents, and who both had personalities suited to a banter-filled rapport filled with fun bickering.
In spite or maybe because of that early bickering, though, it quickly becomes apparent that Johnny really respects and admires Spider-Man:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Amazing Spider-Man #18)
Peter Parker, on the other hand, who Johnny’s at the time girlfriend Dorrie Evans thinks is just so polite and gentlemanly? Peter Parker, Johnny doesn’t like so much at this point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Amazing Spider-Man #21) And here we have the beginning of our identity porn, practically a staple when it comes to superhero ships. This kind of dynamic between Johnny and Spider-Man/Peter Parker would continue up until Peter revealed his identity to Johnny in the middle of a crisis, having to silently trust him to understand:
Tumblr media
(Spider-Man/Human Torch #5)
So you’ve got this amazingly long history, and from the beginning the shippy tropes are piling on – Johnny saying he could understand if his girlfriend fell for Spider-Man, Peter and Johnny having their own special meeting place, and then there’s the fact that Johnny gets kidnapped to use as bait for Spider-Man:
Tumblr media
(Amazing Spider-Man #19)
Fast forward a bit. After the death of Gwen Stacy, who Peter was very much in love with and who he was seriously talking about marriage with, Peter unsurprisingly falls into a dark mood. One of the bright spots for him? Building the Spider-Mobile, which he’d been hired by an automotive company to drive, with Johnny:
Tumblr media
(ASM #130)
In an updated version of this story in Spider-Man/Human Torch #3 (they even had their own team up comic!), Peter speaks to Gwen’s ghost-slash-memory, and says that when he’s with Johnny he feels like he’s “her” Peter again, the best version of himself:
Tumblr media
“And for the first time in a long time, it doesn’t feel like I’m putting on act, or going through the motions. Suddenly, I’m Spidey again. No, I’m Peter again. Your Peter.” Considering Peter was head over heels in love with Gwen and planned to spend the rest of his life with her, that’s one hell of a romantic statement.
Couple this with the fact that, in and out of the mask, Johnny’s consistently one of the best people at calming Peter down and making him take a step back. That might not sound too impressive if you’re not familiar with comics Peter, but in comics, when he’s angry and upset, he has a tendency to verbally lash out at people he loves and isolate himself. It’s generally not a good idea to get in the middle of one of his fights, either – think like inserting yourself into the fight when your dog’s trying to fight another dog. Your dog might love you, but there’s still a very good chance you’re gonna get bit. Johnny’s success record here is unmatched.
Tumblr media
(ASM #591)
Tumblr media
(Amazing Spider-Man (2015) #5)
Then there’s the fact that Peter clearly feels protective of Johnny. (Though, to be fair, 616 Peter feels very protective about everyone he loves.) When Johnny lost his powers and was on a self-destructive bender, Peter teamed up with Johnny’s other best friend, Wyatt Wingfoot, to snap him out of it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Fantastic Four v5 #12) Look at that hand on Johnny’s stomach, steadying him on the building’s ledge. Also look how pretty Johnny is – the real question is, why isn’t he shipped more?
Peter also spent served as Johnny’s personal taxi afterwards:
Tumblr media
(Fantastic Four #642)
When the Red Skull recently possessed Johnny and failed to make Johnny hurt his teammates, he taunted Peter by threatening to kill Johnny in front of him, a threat to which Peter violently reacted:
Tumblr media
(Uncanny Avengers #20)
So there you have your hurt/comfort, the second trope at play here. (Also, Johnny is a champion damsel of the Marvel universe. I once tried to average out how much he faints and came out with something like 1 out of every 3 issues in the early Fantastic Four days. If you like your hurt/comfort, Johnny Storm is right here, collapsing all the time and getting kidnapped by giant gorillas at least three, one time of which – Amazing Spider-Man Annual #4 – Peter has to save him.)
There’s a million other factors that play into “reasons why I ship them” here – they canonically consider themselves family. They have an established tradition to meet up every Christmas morning at the Statue of Liberty. When Johnny died (he got better) he left a video will instructing that his place on the team be left to Peter and saying that “we all love you”:
Tumblr media
(ASM #657)
They lived together when Johnny was recovered alive for a short period of time, during which Johnny cooked Peter breakfast in nothing but his underwear and a saucy apron, yes, really:
Tumblr media
(FF #17 – there are word bubbles here in the finished issue, but they just distract from the rest of this, honestly.) And when Johnny’s family disappeared and Peter found himself unexpectedly a millionaire (long story), he bought the Baxter Building to keep it safe for Johnny. They’ve mentioned having movie nights in canon. Whether or not anyone ships them, it’s hard to deny in canon that they love each other, and that they have a bond forged over decades and decades worth of canon. They’re incredibly close, to the point where, when Peter’s identity was wiped from the minds of just about everyone on the planet, Johnny was one of the few people (along with Felicia Hardy, Peter’s ex-girlfriend) who knew that he used to know who Spider-Man was, and the loss of that knowledge hurt him deeply. They’ve fought together, they’ve saved each other lives, they’ve celebrated holidays together, and they’ve propped each other when the other needed it. It’s a ship with so much history it’s honestly hard to sum them up quickly or efficiently – honestly, they have more history and more reasons to ship them than, I would say, at least 80% of other popular ships and I mean ships in general, not just Marvel ships. It’s pretty amazing to have a relationship in canon that has endured the test of so many years and still remained incredibly relevant to each character. If you’re interested in checking out some more comics featuring them, I have a big long in depth reclist here!
Also, Johnny once slept naked in Peter’s bed:
Tumblr media
(Civil War II: Amazing Spider-Man #1)
Just platonic best friend things. You’re welcome.

Parkner Week Day Two Title: A Perfect Night Prompt: Prom
Character Tags: Peter Parker, Harley Keener, Michelle Jones, Ned Leeds, Betty Brant, Shuri, Abby Keener, Harley’s little sister, mentioned Tony Stark
Relationship Tags: Peter Parker/Harley Keener, Michelle Jones/Shuri, Ned Leeds/Betty Brant
Additional Tags: Day Two of Parkner Week, Parkner Week 2019, Prom, Getting Together, Not Endgame Compliant, Not Infinity War Compliant, Tony doesn’t sell the tower, Idk why, Fluff, This was meant to be cute but I think I did a bad job
Summary: “You need some help with that?”
Peter looked slightly embarrassed, but he nodded, looking up at Harley through his eyelashes.
Cute.
Harley stepped into Peter’s personal space, suddenly realizing that this was either a really bad idea, or his best idea yet. Upon seeing Peter’s face pink, Harley decided that it was easily his best idea yet. Harley reached up and paused.
“What did you do to this poor tie?”
“Peter. Nothing is going to happen. Homecoming was a fluke! School dances are not out to get you,” Ned tried reasoning.
“See, you say that, but you’re wrong.” MJ raised an unimpressed eyebrow, while Ned, who was standing next to her, crossed his arms with a deadpan look.
“Uhuh. And your reasoning here, Parker?”
“MJ, we all know what happened on homecoming night sophomore year, and then on prom, do you remember what happened?”
“You rushed away to go be Spider-Man.”
“Exactly! And at homecoming this year, what happened?”
Ned sighed.
“You rushed away to go be Spider-Man.” Neds repeated, voice flat. “Man, I still don’t see the problem here. You think school dances are out to get you, but to me it seems like Spider-Man is out to get your social life. Just come out, have fun for a night... Maybe invite Harley?” Ned’s voice turned teasing.
Peter felt his face go red.
“What?! No, I-”
“To me, it seems like you were just trying to get out of homecoming because you don’t want to ask anyone, and Ned and I won’t be around to hold your hand this year.” MJ’s words were blunt, but not malicious. They were also, unfortunately, true.
MJ had asked out Shuri months ago, and upon hearing about prom, Shuri jumped at the chance to go. Peter had the distinct feeling that she would be disappointed, Midtown wasn’t exactly known for their wonderful school dances, but he wasn’t going to tell her that. Ned, was once again, dating Betty. They had a rather consistent on-again off-again relationship. Peter, on the other hand, was as single as a pringle.
This didn’t stop MJ and Ned from teasing him about Harley, however, who had moved in with Mr. Stark nearly a year before and who Peter had been hardcore crushing on ever since. It seemed like the more he got to know the other boy, the more he liked him.
Harley was gorgeous and funny, Harley was super smart while also being adept at socializing, he was chaotic and very capable of wielding his tongue like a weapon, but he could also be so sweet, and Peter was absolutely smitten.
“Even if I thought that Harley would say yes, I can’t. Abby is coming up the same day as prom, and I don’t want to take away from their time together. Based on that alone, Harley would probably say no.”
MJ and Ned exchanged looks.
“We obviously can’t convince you, and maybe you’re right, you know Harley better than we do. But what if you’re wrong? Don’t you want the chance, at least?”
Peter frowned and shrugged a bit helplessly. It didn’t matter whether he did or not, he wouldn’t be selfish and take away from Harley’s time with Abby. They only got to see each other every couple of months or so, even though Peter knew that they texted each other often and video called once a week.
Harley very obviously missed her and his mom, even though he was too stubborn to admit it. He had moved in with Tony for his senior year because the internship would look good on his college applications, and--although Harley had only admitted this to him in the dead of the night, while they were binging bad horror movies and eating junk food--he thought that it would lower the financial burden so his mom didn’t have to work so much.
Knowing all of that, how could Peter ask Harley to homecoming without feeling guilty? It would be putting Harley in a tough spot. He would either say yes, and then feel guilty about ditching Abby, or he would say no and that would make things awkward between them and Harley would probably feel guilty about that too and-
Peter cut off his inner ramblings. All these what if’s were pointless, because he wasn’t going to ask Harley in the first place.
I--II--II--III--II--II--I
Peter had decided that if he was going to skip homecoming, then he might as well do something else fun. It was because of this thought that Peter was currently entering the penthouse to put his stuff down before heading down to Mr. Stark’s lab.
“Hey Pete!” Harley called.
“What’s up? Where’s Abby? I thought she was coming today?”
“Oh. Yeah. That got rescheduled for next week. It turns out her best friend is throwing her birthday party tomorrow, and Abby doesn’t want to miss it. What about you? MJ told me that your homecoming was tonight.”
Peter froze. Of course she did.
“Eh, I was going to be wallflowering the entire night. MJ and Ned both have dates, and I didn’t want to go stag.”
It wasn’t the whole truth, but it certainly wasn’t a lie.
“Why didn’t you ask someone then? You could have asked someone to go with you as a friend, if nothing else.”
Peter stared flatly.
“Harley, I have four and a half friends. Four of which are going together.”
“A half?”
“I’m not super close with Betty.”
“Alright, but that still leaves one more friend.”
Peter stared some more. Was Harley really going to make him spell this out?
“Harley, you’re the last friend.”
“Yeah, and your point is?”
“You were busy.”
“And now I’m not. Do they sell tickets at the door?”
“Yeah, but-”
“Cool, go get dressed. I really doubt Tony’s known you this long and let you get away with not owning a suit. We’ll meet back here in 20. I expect your hair to look presentable.” With that, Harley marched off to his room, leaving Peter behind reeling. What just happened? I--II--II--III--II--II--I Harley’s lips quirked up when he saw Peter come out of his room. His suit was a bit rumpled, and his hair was still a bit messy, even if it was obvious that Peter had tried to tame it. He was fiddling with his tie, and failing at tying it. Harley’s smile widened when he noticed that it was the same shade of red as his.
“You need some help with that?”
The tie was knotted and tangled, and just slightly too tight around Peter’s neck. That had to be uncomfortable.
Peter’s face was completely red now, a sheepish smile pulling at his lips.
“I only ever had YouTube videos to go off when tying a tie, and to be honest that confused me even more. My aunt probably knows how, its just that it never occurred to her to teach me.”
“Then how did you wear ties in the past? I know I’ve seen you wearing them in photos, and such.”
“They were clip-on. Don’t tell Mr. Stark!”
“Hmmm. I think I just might, After all, he would want to know that his protege doesn’t know how to tie a tie, don’t you think?” Tony would definitely be scandalized. Maybe Harley would put this in his repertoire of black mail.
The knot finally came undone. Harley smiled triumphantly.
“Now, you cross this end over this one, see how this side is thicker? And then you wrap it around like this, pull this end through here, and then you pull.” As Harley pushed the knot up to Peter’s neck, he couldn’t help but feel like one of the little old ladies who always tied their husbands tie in the movies.
Harley looked up at Peter’s face, and abruptly remembered just how close they were standing. He swiftly took a step back, and blinked. Peter looked… disappointed?
Harley cleared his throat.
“Right then. You ready?”
“Ready.”
I--II--II--III--II--II--I
Peter’s prom wasn’t as fancy as Harley was expecting. For a somewhat high class school, the decorations were rather cheesy. Judging by the look on Peter’s face, he thought so too. Most of the decoration consisted of fairy lights, a few blue and yellow colored gobo’s, and swaths of transparent fabric hung artistically. Upon further inspection, there were also a few fake tree’s.
“The decorations are like this every year. Not horrible, but a bit lackluster, and most of the time you can’t even tell what the theme is.”
Before Harley could respond, Ned materialized beside them, with Betty on his arm.
“I thought you weren’t going to come? What happened with Harley’s little sister?”
Harleys eyebrows shot up. There was seemingly no correlation between the two comments unless… Had Peter been going to ask him?
Harley was once again interrupted before he got the chance to speak.
“Yes, what happened with Harley’s little sister?” MJ was smirking, like she knew something that they didn’t. Shuri, who was standing next to her, looked amused, as if she was in on a secret the rest of them weren’t allowed to know.
“Her trip was rescheduled for next week. It was really sudden actually. You’d think she’d be more careful planning her trip around the time of her best friend’s birthday. Actually, come to think of it, didn’t Julie already have her birthday this year?” Harley frowned, slightly confused.
MJ’s smirk widened.
“Well, have fun! Lets go raid the food table,” Shuri directed the last part to MJ.
“Ooh! I love this song! Let’s go dance!” Betty quickly pulled Ned over to the dance floor, leaving Harley and Peter alone together again.
“Did that seem a bit off to you?”
“Yeah, but with MJ, it's better not to question.”
Harley thought that that was a fair assessment, and decided to put the incident out of his mind. For now. For now, Harley would go dance with Peter and drink watered down punch and eat cupcakes that were just a tad too sweet. For now, Harley would listen as the playlist slowly progressed to slower and slower songs. And for now, Harley would get to hold Peter in his arms as they slowly drifted from side to side.
I--II--II--III--II--II--I
“Thank you. For coming with me, that is. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be.”
Harley resisted the urge to let out a smart ass comment, like isn’t everything fun when I’m involved? and instead just took a step closer. They were back where it all began, in the tower. The night had gone by quickly, and Harley was tired. But not too tired for this.
Harley took another small step, invading Peter’s personal bubble once more.
“Not a problem, darling.” Harley drawled quietly, not wanting to ruin the atmosphere between them. “Your prom may have sucked, but it was fun.”
Peter didn’t respond, instead moving closer to Harley and gently slotting his lips against Harley’s. The kiss was slow, lazy. It was fairly obvious to both that neither one knew quite what they were doing, with Harley having come from a small town in Tennessee and Peter being awkward and well, Peter. Despite that though, it was nice.
A perfect ending to a good night.
I--II--II--III--II--II--I
Harley was sliding into his bed when his phone rang on his bedside table.
“Hello?”
“Hey Harley! How did your date with Peter go?”
“How did you know about that?”
“Did you kiss? I have a bet with MJ.”
“MJ? How do you know MJ?”
“Bye Harley, see you next week!”
“Abby? Don’t you dare hang-”

So I”m thinking of making a multi-multi again with a coherent list of muses examples of a google doc
thxwxnderer
Guidelines & Muse List
Hello, call me Brett, I am a 25 y/o male from West Can. I am very slow and socially awkward among other things.
I am very much open to shipping but i don’t want it to be my only type of threads. family, conflict and such and such all threads welcome. that being said when it comes to shipping some conditions are present. for one mun and muse should be eighteen + especially for nsfw threads. and another it is illegal and creepy to ship with muns who are under eighteen and neither would i want to.
nsfw themes will be present. there is teenage angst, angst about named after someone who became a dictator and of course angst of war and trauma and so forth so yes nsfw will be present ask if you want anything specifically tagged so you can filter the post out.
Let’s have fun.that is what we are here so let’s not have drama or fighting. so i am always open for plotting and will respect a muns choice to do or not do a specific thread or plot point.
do not tolerate vauging or dash drama. If there is significant harm and proof of abuse and trauma. I will repost a callout but other then that I mind to myself.
I have problems socializing and I don’t exactly fit in. I dont know what it is but I might be prone to fits of depression and withdrawl from conversations.
all my opens are open for everyone but i can be selective. like i am not icon or gif crazy but ideally use clean ones and edit the text. Don’t use tumblr gifs insertions, its just clunky
I an open to plotting and working on slow burn, long term and even short term threads.
I am still reading through the source material but as always feel free to correct me when I make a mistake in our threads.

SUMMARY: A month after adapting to human life and being accepted into Midtown School of Science and Technology, Lena “the Siren” Potts starts attending school with Peter Parker. As love and family start to pour into her life, a mysterious force lurks in the background, threatening the wellbeing of both herself and all the people she loves…
PAIRING: Peter Parker x Siren!OC
WORD COUNT: 2.1k
“Good afternoon, Mr. Parker, we apologize for taking you out of class, but as you know, we are doing this with everyone who was absent from classes after the incident,” across from Peter sat his principal, and in the corner stood two men, both in suits. Peter silently replayed the story he and Lena had developed that morning, filling the time with a deep inhale.
“Yeah, of course, Mr. Morita,” he curled in his lips, smiling without his eyes. He had to make a conscious effort to not clench his teeth. It was odd how he could fight crime, but a scenario like this had him more nervous than he cared to admit.
“Were you in the cafeteria during the incident?” Mr. Morita was reading the questions off of a piece of paper sitting in front of him. These questions were not developed by the school, and everyone was being asked the same thing. Peter flicked his eyes back to his Principal’s.
“Mr. Stark needed his niece and me to come back to the Avenger’s compound upstate, he had his driver come pick us up right before our lunch period.”
“Oh!” Mr. Morita looked pleased, “So the two of you were not present?”
“We will need to see the record of them being signed out of school as well as parental confirmation that this is the case,” one of the suited men spoke up.
Peter’s heart rate picked up, but he continued on, “You won’t find it,” their heads snapped to him, and he realized how suspicious that sounded, “Because Mr. Stark said it was urgent, and that he would take care of it later.”
“Is that her father?” the other man spoke up.
“No. Her uncle. Legal guardian. You know...Tony Stark?” Peter was surprised that they hadn’t pieced this together yet. It wasn’t breaking news that Lena went to Midtown.
The men were trying to mask their shock, but Peter saw one of their eyebrows twitch. Whoever these men were, they weren’t keeping their composure very well, but Peter knew how to work those in authority. He interacted with them as Spider-Man almost every time there was crime to fight. They were usually unappreciative of him and Lena’s work, so their exchanges were routinely snarky comments and getting out of their way.
“Lena Potts is Tony Stark’s niece and one of our most distinguished students,” Mr. Morita finally took control of the conversation, “Okay, so yourself and Miss Potts left at approximately…”
“11:45,” Peter finished for him.
“And what do you know of the incident?”
“All I know is what my friend Ned told me and what I’ve seen on the news. The guy that Spider-Man and the Siren fought the other day broke and entered into the school, scared a bunch of kids, and then the two superheroes showed up and led him to the football field. Iron Man then came I think and the guy surrendered,” he kept his language casual, not using the technicalities that he was used to going into detail with.
“That would be correct. Do you have any suspicions as to why he might have targeted the school?”
Peter did. Somehow, whoever this guy worked for had caught wind of where he or Lena went to school. It was no coincidence that less than 24 hours later, the man that had been demanding for them to brawl him had attacked Midtown Tech. Mr. Stark had to be starting an investigation, but he hadn’t heard from him since their argument on the football field. Naturally, he lied to his principal.
“No. I’m not really a...fan of getting involved in all that stuff.”
“Aren’t you Tony Stark’s intern? Wouldn’t that provide some sort of...curiosity?”
Peter inhaled, “I guess it should...but I’m a computer science intern...I just do tech stuff. Not crime fighting,” he smiled halfway again, hoping his lies were buyable. He wasn’t the best actor, and he hated lying, but it came with the job.
“Of course,” Mr. Morita was smiling genuinely, hopefully believing every word Peter said. The men in the corner, while he was avoiding even glancing in their general direction, had negative energy radiating off of them. They were most likely staring Peter down, second guessing it all. Peter exhaled and tried to cover up the anxiety that they were forcing onto him.
“Thank you for your time, Mr. Parker, you can head back to class.”
He didn’t leave too quickly. Calmly, he kept his eye on his bag as he picked it up off the floor in front of him and swung it across his shoulders, smiling at both the men and Mr. Morita before making his way to the door. It took a couple paces before he let out a sigh of relief, letting his shoulder collide with a locker to his right.
He sat back down in his math class, Lena sitting diagonally to his right. She was furiously taking notes as Ms. Minor did practice problems on the whiteboard. She excelled at math, so she really had no need for the notes, but the anxiety of potentially getting anything wrong was what drove her to copy everything their teacher was writing. He could slightly feel the intensity of her blood as it pumped through her veins.
How did it go? She asked him inside of his head.
There were two men there that were suspicious of everything I was saying, but that’s their job.
I can try and get a read on them when they ask me to answer questions.
“Could we borrow Lena Potts, please?” Mr. Morita had entered the open door and was smiling politely.
Lena placed her pencil on her notebook and stood, flattening the white linen pants she wore that day. She shrugged her braids off her shoulders so that they rhythmically hit her back as she walked out of the room, and Peter tried to ignore the twinge of jealousy when he noticed that most of everyone’s eyes were following her, some for a little too long. After a few moments, when she had to be a few feet away from the room, he felt Lena silently chuckle at him, and his cheeks turned bright red.
Lunch the day after had an entirely different energy. About half of the kids who were at lunch in the cafeteria were there. Lena had quietly told him that the fear that the Arsonist had caused would stay with them for a while, and many of them would never return to the lunchroom. MJ, Ned, Lena, and himself took up their usual four seats, eating almost silently. So much had happened in the recent few days that no one knew where to begin with a conversation.
“Are you guys planning on going to prom?” Peter brought up a light subject in hopes that it would spark better conversation.
MJ and Ned exchanged looks, Lena kept staring at her food, hardly eating it, just tossing it around the bowl with her fork.
“I think I might ask Betty,” Ned piped up, smiling a little before eating another french fry.
“Betty Brant? To prom?” Peter felt a bit of happiness for his friend grow inside him. “That’s awesome, dude.”
Peter knew that Ned had always had a thing for Betty, but Ned was never the type to make the first move. He talked about it but never followed through. He hoped that this would be a big step for his friend in growing his confidence. It was slightly saddening to see Ned avoid romance because he didn’t feel as if he deserved it.
“Prom sounds lame, but if I know you losers, then I’ll probably be going,” she didn’t look up from the notebook she was sketching in.  Of course, MJ would give off an air of distaste. Peter knew that she wanted to go, but pretended as if it was the opposite of the case.
When he looked over at Lena, she was intensely staring at the other girl, most likely trying to get a read on her. He had no idea what could be so important that she was sifting through MJ’s mind, but Lena had been reacting to the things MJ had been saying interestingly. He made a mental note to ask her about it when they were on patrol later.
“Well Lena and I are going together,” he said it like it was any normal thing, but Ned’s head snapped up and his fist banged on the table.
“Finally!” Ned exclaimed, “I mean, yeah! Yeah, that’s cool guys.”
MJ snickered, “About time.”
Patrol was quiet. He looked at Lena on the rooftop of some building, her ponytail wavering slightly in the wind. She was listening to the police’s radio com channel. He had seen her studying them in her free time so that they could get to crime before the police and hopefully solve the situation before it got worse. Lena was still rusty with the codes, but she had told him she enjoyed learning them.
“It is rather quiet,” she said softly, staring off into the distance, “And the crimes that are happening are closer to the police force than they are to us.”
Peter let his mind wander, and sat on the edge of the building, his feet dangling off the edge. Lena joined him, letting her head fall onto his shoulder. It was quiet nights like these that had been horribly awkward for them when their relationship was dwindling. Lena would sit and use her AI to do homework, while Peter would eat a sandwich and pretend to keep himself busy. In all actuality, he was wishing he could say something to mend the distance they had created. Now they were closer than they had ever been before.
“How did your interview with Morita go?” Peter inquired, pushing through the silence.
She sighed, “It went smoothly, I stuck to the story. The men were trying to question literally everything I was saying. It was...what is that ‘I’ word?”
Peter shuffled through negative adjectives that started with the letter, “Irritating?”
“Yes. It was irritating. I was lying. But I had a reason to lie. It was not because I had anything to do with the Arsonist.”
“We got an identity to protect.”
“We do. Other than that, I found out they were detectives from the NYPD. They were desperate to find out where Tony is keeping the villain.”
“Mr. Stark will never give that information up.”
They stayed silent for another minute or two when the other topic that Peter had on his mind drifted into his memory. He was hesitant to ask for a moment, and then decided it would be best to keep it inside their heads. Peter had learned that some things, even the simplest of things, were better left unsaid.
Can I ask you something? He felt his heartbeat pick up, oddly. There wasn’t much to be nervous about going into this conversation.
Of course.
Why have you been studying MJ so intensely?
He could feel her clench her teeth on his shoulder, I think she knows about us.
Of course she does, we told her today-
No! No, I mean being Spider-Man and the Siren. I think she knows.
Peter didn’t respond, not knowing how. For a moment he felt that there should be no reason that MJ had found out their secret, but then Peter caught himself. That would be a serious underestimation of his friend’s intelligence. She was smart without effort, and Lena had described her mental stability as comparable to Mr. Stark’s, who was a child prodigy and considered a genius.
Should we tell her? Peter asked.
Not yet. I do not think so. I...I do not know.  There was a deep conflict hanging on her thoughts.
She flinched, sat up, clenching her hands into fists. She had heard something over the radio that had visibly upset her. Standing, she looked across the labyrinth of skyscrapers, searching for something. When Peter tried to look in her head to see what it was, he could feel that it was the equivalent to finding a needle in a haystack. He stood next to her, putting a hand on her shoulder.
What’s wrong?
She looked at him, We need to get to the Gotham Hotel as soon as possible.
He frowned, Lena, that’s maybe 20 minutes away-
10-56a, attempting suicide. That means someone is standing at the top of a building right now, waiting for a sign. We have to be that sign. She looked troubled and upset, but simultaneously determined. Let’s go.

American Pharoah to Have First Runner Friday at Dundalk
April 2019
2015 American Triple Crown winner American Pharoah will be represented by his first starter at Ireland’s Dundalk Racecourse on Friday, April 5.
Horus Bird, pictured above, a bay colt out of Up, a Grade II-winning daughter of Galileo, will start from Post 3 in the five-furlong contest. The colt, who is trained by Aiden O’Brien, was bred in the United States by Ran Jan Racing, who sold him for $750,000 at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. The Coolmore group signed the ticket, although the entry lists him as now being owned by Peter Brant.
The two-year-old colt was christened with a strong, and clever name; Horus Bird, also known as Horus-Ba, is the name given to a Pharaoh who possibly had a short reign during the 1st and 2nd dynasties of Egypt. The name takes inspiration from both parents.
Also in the field is filly Love Bracelet, a daughter of War Front and Irish oaks winner Bracelet, and Pistoletto, a full-brother to Grade I winner Avenge.
