you're going about your normal day when, suddenly, surprise! you've been pokémon mystery dungeon'd!

unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the pokémon assigning quiz has been canceled. instead, you must spin THE WHEEL, assigning you a random, unevolved, non-legendary and non-mythical pokémon. you must now go on some sort of world-saving adventure as this pokémon. good luck!

tell me in the tags what you rolled, and how you feel about it - for bonus points, you can spin the wheel again for (or just take your pick of) a pokémon to be your partner.

bonus rules:

you're not shiny unless the wheel tells you you're shiny

take your pick of regional forms and evolutions (for example, if you roll vulpix, it's up to you whether that means normal or alolan vulpix)

apply whatever logic you like with regards to gender

Unlikely Adventure

Wow first contribution to the Pokémon community hello!

This art was pretty self-indulgent. I imagine this happening because of like Professor Oak being like: “So Ash, there’s this like. Pokémon I want you to take a look at, and Gary’s coming with you. Cause… okay now go outside and get along” And then they just go on this trip absolutely hating each other and Gary once again just talking a lot of smack but they have to get along. Spoilers: they don’t at first, I’m sure they will have to work together and understand each other just more.

i am far from the best when it comes to typing out well thought out media analysis but, one of the most engaging parts of pokémon for me that i rarely see discussed in the larger fandom as a while is the franchises recurring themes of duality. You can spot it just about everywhere if you know where to look for it and i don't just mean each mainline game releasing as a pair. there's this recurring theme of yin and yang, opposites that complete eachother. (with Ho-oh and Lugia taking inspiration from the Phoenix and Dragon that represent the idea of yin and yang.) The games especially have this recurring themes of balance and coexistence, Team Magma and Team Aqua having to work together, the Diamond and Pearl clans having to learn to accept eachother it's all over the games. The Unova games and its themes of truth and ideals and how you shouldn't chose one over the other and instead embrace both of them. The idea that in order to have a bright future humans must learn to respect and bind with pokémon and nature. You can really do some many different analyses of the franchise exploring that theme and it's a shame i don't see more people talk about it.
