I feel like I’ve been able to read so many speculative fiction wlw books in the past few years that I get a little frustrated when ppl complain that wlw relationships are always sidelined in stories. i totally agree with you! the marauders are a blank canvas to fill your own head canons and opinions so it feels exciting to see what writers perceive the characters in their work. i really enjoy the literary aspect of looking for clues when reading whether it be x reader or character ships.

i totally agree with you with sirius and i think to add is the fact that the fandom makes him so hyper feminine and remus alpha male n strong -something about that irks me so much. i half blame it on atyd but that’s just what i’ve gathered from reading the fic so far (haven’t finished it yet)

Katara

Katara is constantly mistreated by the fans in favor of the Zukka ship (Zuko × Sokka.) They make her out to be mean, homophobic, and completely out of character just to add drama to the Zukka ship. In reality, Katara is very compassionate, and would never act that way toward anyone. 

Zutara was a popular ship but when zukka got popular over covid during the atla renaissance there were a million posts about how zutara was problematic while zukka was perfect usually for racist reasons. Meanwhile katara and sokka are siblings so it didn't even make sense. They did not have to be so illogically rude to her to ship zukka and it was weird

Katara is FANTASTIC I fucking love her to pieces she is so cool and yet the entirety of the ATLA fandom treats her like garbage because she “talks about her mom dying too much” (even though she BARELY does & also was parentified from a young age due to her mother’s death) and, of course, because she’s a more feminine women when compared to her counterparts. Even in the show itself she’s mistreated: she’s ALWAYS shown cooking for the rest of the gaang, doing their laundry, any ‘womanly’ task. She ends up with the guy who kissed her twice without her consent & who she never showed any real attraction to and apparently (despite being a badass warrior-doctor!!!) after the show ended she just… settled down in the South Pole and had a bunch of kids and never did anything else. She didn’t even get a statue :( Anyways during the ATLA renaissance, despite Zutara actually not being canon, people felt that Katara threatened the sanctity of the new almost entirely baseless yaoi ship, Zukka. Unfortunately for them, due to the fact that Katara and Sokka are siblings, the usual anti-Zutara arguments didn’t work as well. So they resorted to just… slaughtering her character. If she was lucky, they’d just make Katara a background character, wingwoman, &or throw her together with her canon love interest. If she was unlucky they’d do anything from make her homophobic (??) to killing her off! Fuck’s sake, she never even got a token spare-the-pairs wlw ship! Sorry for getting so heated, that whole debacle made me FUMING MAD.

she is a kickass warrior and she is so so beautiful and kind and outstanding in every way but gets thrown in the trash frequently because people love the gays (zuko and sokka)(I like them but you cannot remove suki from the equation she is integral)

Thoughts on Marshfield? Do you think Kate secretly had romantic feelings for Max but didn't feel comfortable showing them because of her religious background?

I don't read Kate as having a crush on Max, but I choose to read Max as being attached to Kate!

I say this because of how Max compliments Kate's appearance in her journal entries, and we know from Chloe that Max is attracted to women, so this might be more than a compliment. (Also, Max has a very tone that she talks to Kate in that she doesn't use for anyone else. Not even Chloe. It's a very gentle tone like someone who was talking to a spooked rabbit, and that does add to the shipping full for me.)

However, within the game itself, nothing implies that Kate had a crush on Max. In the hospital, she will even suggest inviting Warren to get tea with them and say that she thinks Max and Warren would be a cute couple. We also never get to tell her about Chloe, so we don't know how Kate feels about WLW relationships or if she would want to be in one herself.

Yet, considering her personality, I think she'd be open-minded about having a queer friend. I don't view her as homophobic or anything. I'm just saying that the game keeps it's queer themes very divided from Kate, so it's hard to tell how she feels about LGBT topics or if they relate to her at all.

I'm not dissing the ship though since Marshfield has been one of my favorite ships since LIS came out, and I tend to headcanon that they get together in any universe where Amberprice is end game! Plus, Kate has a lot of direct parallels to Chloe, which I do find interesting from a shipping and narrative standpoint! So I am going to point those out since I most certainly don't want to make a post dismissing Marshfield because it's such a good ship.

Direct Chloe And Kate Parallels: Max directly alters their fate when she saves Chloe in the bathroom. Max has to make a major end of chapter choice regarding whether they live or die. Max unlocks a new power when they're a danger that leads to her bending time. Max has to make multiple choices that directly impact how pleased they are with her. One of these choices even pit Kate and Chloe against each other as two important people Max wants to please! Kate and Chloe both change after tragedy enters their lives and they both have a chance to become the happier person they once were because of Max's influence.

HP Rec Fest, Day 30

Here we come with more @hprecfest! Today I’m only reccing rare pairs since I couldn’t think of any pre-canon Drarry fics 🤔 I wonder if canon divergent / canon rewrite applies?? I don’t read them often either way, so I figured this would be a good opportunity to boost lesser known fics. I think this is my favorite rec post for the fest so far - there’s something so poetic in reccing these two specific fics alongside each other since Little Compton Street verse was my first (unforgettable, devastating) contact with Prongsfoot and 5 years later here I am reading them again - this time welcoming the pain. More embarrassing emosh blabbing below!

Day 30) a pre-canon fic:

empire builders by shecrows (James/Sirius, E, 25k)

Say, James, he rehearses in his head. Remember that time we were both roaring drunk at the end of term, and you put your cock in my mouth, and I came so hard I still get tingly thinking about it? Was that just a one off, d’you think, or did you want to do it again sometime?

Prongsfoot my beloved 😭😭😭 sometimes I feel like I’ll never feel as strongly about a ship as I feel for them which sounds so crazy because I don’t even read it! or, well. after being utterly ruined by Winter of ‘79 (curiously a fic within LCS verse as mentioned below) I promised myself I wouldn’t look for this ship anymore bc the inevitable tragedy of it depressed me way too much. I locked them away in a secret space deep within my heart and only allowed myself to re-awaken those feelings this year, with the brilliant empire builders. what a fic! a few lines in and I was hooked and completely obsessed with Sirius’ unbelievably spot on voice, the peak friends to lovers dynamics, and the unbearable sexual tension mixing guilt and devotion (my favorite shippy combo btw). fuck, they are so young and so lovable, and so attuned to each other it makes me wanna cry. never before a 25k fic has felt so short, I’ve read it in a frenzy and couldn’t stop thinking about their love for days. the best word to describe my state after this fic is “tormented” which might as well be the best compliment I’ve ever given in a rec.

Play Me Like A Love Song by @writcraft (Minerva/Will, E, 67k)

truly a masterpiece of lesbian fiction, this fic is more like a religious experience, bold, brutally honest, romantic, eye-opening and necessary. I never thought I’d care so much for a ship like Will & Minerva but they worked their way inside my heart and I’m deeply moved by how their story encompasses everything that’s inherent to the queer experience: love, loss, resistance and hope. there’s so much joy and grief walking hand by hand, and it is our privilege to watch the characters mature and experience life as individuals and as a couple. Writ crafts oh so thoughtfully two stunning character studies (Minerva’s voice omg, please don’t @ me on my competence kink) while taking us by the hand into the magical universe of Little Compton Street, which is so completely irresistible and healing. I adore the atmosphere, the imagery, the soundtrack, and how this seductive setting allows them to explore their queerness in such a free, proud and joyful way *getting emosh* I feel like nothing I add here will make this story justice, it’s such a poignant and transformative fic but sadly deeply underrated like it happens to so many wlw tales. I hope this rec inspires at least one person to check it out and while at it please also check the entire series with a Drarry piece and a Prongsfoot piece, a perfect trifecta!

sunflower trio thoughts

I love the sunflower trio in canon, but I do think it would be better if the dynamics changed.

First of all, I don’t like Teri having a crush on Aoi. It doesn’t give much to the story except for more conflict between Akane and Teru, and just overall doesn’t make sense. It seems like it’s only there because Teru is a boy and Aoi is a girl so why not make it a love triangle! I know it would never happen since Teru and Akane are both boys and I doubt the creator is tbhk is planning on including any mlm or wlw romance in tbhk (unfortunately) but I think that Teru having a crush on Akane would make so much more sense. It would be so much more compelling to see Teru crush on Akane, knowing he can never have him because he loves Aoi and feeling guilty about it because he is part supernatural. It would add a lot more to his character than some random backround crush that a doesn’t do much to his character. Not hating on teruaoi, you ship what you want as long as it’s not problematic, I just don’t ship those two by themselves. Now I have a very complicated relationship with aoiaoi. On one hand, I see Aoi as a lesbian (me projecting), but that’s just a personal headcanon. I don’t despise aoiaoi, but I’m not a big fan of how their dynamic is portrayed in tbhk. Most of the time it is used for humor, just showing Akane being a creep. My problem with this is that I think it takes away from Akane’s character to make everything he says or does about Aoi. This is why I think he shines when paired with Teru instead, as more of his true self comes out instead of just him loving Aoi being his only personality trait. Obviously the ship has a lot more depth than that, especially when you look at the severance arc. I believe that the ship would be nicer if Akane was slightly less obsessive and Aoi trusted him more. Luckily, canon seems to be going that way as at the Minamoto house we see them interacting more normally. I don’t consider the ship toxic, and sometimes I really enjoy it. I just think that it could be made better with more communication between the two.

To be honest, I’d say I prefer aoiaoi more in fanon aus than in canon. I’ve seen far worse ships with this dynamic though (tmnt2012 apriltello) and I think that it definitely has an interesting dynamic that can be expanded on more in the future. One way to do this could be showing Akane trying to heal Aoi’s hand, but I don’t know if that will be followed up on.

Anyways, there are my hot takes on the sunflower trio. Again, if you like aoiaoi or teruaoi please don’t come at me for anything said here. Just my personal opinion!

I’m excited about the Supergirl May-hem event, you guys are doing a great job but I can’t help but wish that supercorp wasn’t allowed at least this time. After seeing that 90% of the recs were supercorp I fear this event will barely have some more ‘rare’ ships and that’s a pity.

Thanks for reaching out with your concern. We have a few reasons why we decided not to exclude Supercorp and I'll list them below for you. Please excuse the ramble. I'll start with our main reason for making this an inclusive event for every WLW ship in the Supergirl fandom. We want to uplift every ship and give them a space to express themselves. We don't want to exclude anyone and leave them on the sidelines while we actively promote other people. That wouldn't be fair and the thought leaves a bad taste in our mouths.

Another reason is that the ship lines aren't as black and white as a lot of people believe. Many people have multiple ships in the fandom and care deeply about all of them even if they also ship Supercorp. Many Supercorp writers have expressed interest in writing for multiple ships and artists have shown they're open to creating for multiple ships. Many of the Supercorp creators would not join the event if Supercorp was excluded and that would mean that there would be a lot less content for the 'smaller' ships as they are interested in writing/creating additional pieces for other ships.

Whether Supercorp is in the event or not, there'll still be a very similar number of fics/art created for the smaller fics. To exclude them would simply deprive Supercorp of also having new fics/art created for them.

As a multi-ship event, there's always going to be a ship that is more popular than the others. Whether that's Supercorp, Supercat or Agentcorp. One will always have the majority. Yes, that majority increases with Supercorp but they're not getting any special treatment. We're putting an equitable amount of time and effort into promoting each ship. We understand that some ships are smaller and need more of a shove to get them seen, so we've done our best to make that happen.

As for the fic list, fics are added from the community. There are 3 of us, and we can't be in every ship fandom at once. We need help from those ship communities to add the fics. We've reached out to each community and asked for recs. If there are none on the list, that's because nobody recommended any. If there's only a few, that's because those are what we were sent. We're always adding to the list and will always keep updating it so people can send us links at any time to their favourite fics. Supercorp might have the majority, but even if they weren't on the list, there would be the same amount of other ship's fics on the list.

The sad truth is that while many of the fandoms are still alive, there are a few that are running on fumes and barely have any active members left. This event would not be what we envision it to be with a lack of people involved. We're trying to get as many members of those communities involved as possible but time has played a big part in the dwindling numbers for all ships, Supercorp included, although there are still a lot of active members for that particular ship.

We're doing everything we can to reach out to every ship we can think of, and want everyone to be included. If there's more you think we can do, other than excluding people, feel free to reach out and let us know. We're all ears and would love tips on how to reach them.

The final reason as to why we're including Supercorp is simple. As the event creators, we're fans of multiple ships and we've created this event to showcase our passion for those ships. We're not going to ban Supercorp from an event we created to make other people happy when this is a passion project. We don't get paid for creating the event and we're putting in hours upon hours of work into making it. We're not going to change it to appease other people because that would simply take away our passion and make the event worthless.

We understand where you're coming from with your worries. You don't want the smaller ships to be drowned out by Supercorp. There's only two places that may happen, and that's our socials when we start promoting each fic/art as it's posted on posting week. That's unavoidable. However, the clicks aren't all going to come from us. Each person is responsible for also promoting their work and while we'll do our best to help, we physically won't be able to put masses of effort into each and every one.

The second place is the collection. The collection will have all of the fics stored in one place. The good news is that AO3 has a great filtering system so people will find the ship they want out of the collection with ease. Other people will discover new ships through looking through the collection too, and may end up being inspired.

We've seen a lot of people expressing worry or anger about other ships being included, or not getting enough attention but there's not enough attention on how this is beneficial for every ship. Everyone gets to display their work in one place full of like-minded individuals, showing off their love for their ships of choice. You're showing off your work and showing everyone why you love them in a place where it's going to get attention. The attention you want on your ships will come from you proudly displaying your work in an event made to provide a safe space for everyone.

Of course, we're also taking measures to ensure there's a safe space for everyone individually too. Our Discord server (which will open after sign-ups) has individual channels for ships as well as general channels so you can choose to mingle or simply stay within your ships without being drowned out by chats from other ships.

Finally, we're taking the ship disputes very seriously. We understand that people have different preferences and we won't tolerate any hate being thrown at anyone else for who they ship. You can like or dislike any ship you want, but anyone who is making our safe space unsafe for anyone else will be removed from the event and banned from future events. We're very strict on that policy.

DIAKKO DAY 2023!

It’s that time again! The Diakko community is once again uniting to celebrate our favourite little gay witches, and this time, we’re hoping it’s gonna be even bigger and better than last year!

February 1st is an opportunity for all fans of Diakko to post fanfiction, fanart, headcanons, videos, edits, or anything else you can think of focused on Diakko!

We’ve provided some answers to common questions below, but if you have anything else you want to ask, don’t hesitate to send us a message here, or on Twitter.

We’d also like to extend a huge thanks to @yourcutesthope​ for her fantastic art to kick off our countdown hype! If your interested in doing a piece to countdown the weeks to Diakko day, let us know!

How do I participate?

Participating is simple! All you need to do is post whatever Diakko work you create on February 1st, and tag it as #DiakkoDay2023! Tagging this account also makes it easier for us to find your work and share it, and tagging it #diakko, #dianakko, and #LittleWitchAcademia makes it easier for other Diakko fans to find and enjoy your work!

We’ll also be sharing everything over on Twitter! We’ll be using the same #DiakkoDay20223 hashtag, and we also suggest using #Diakko, #LWA_jp, and #ダイアコ on Twitter. Last year, we got plenty of submissions from beyond the English-speaking fandom, so using the internationally recognised hashtags can help spread your work and the event far and wide!

Is there a theme? Are there any rules?

There’s no theme, you can submit whatever you like! This is simply a day to celebrate Diakko!

That said, we won’t be reblogging or retweeting NSFW content. For writers, this means your fic or chapter needs to be rated T or G. For artists, that means no boobs, genitalia, blood/gore, BDSM themes or similar. If you’re not sure if your work falls under these rules, please feel free to shoot us a DM on either Tumblr or Twitter!

Additionally, we would request that writers send us only one fic chapter or oneshot that they wish to be shared. Artists may send collages or comics with multiple images if they so wish, but we’d ask that you send them as a single post to make sharing them easier, thank you!

Why February 1st?

According to the timeline outlined in The Little Witch Academia Chronicles book, the finale of Little Witch Academia most likely takes place on February 1st. And what better day to celebrate Diakko than the day the two of them saved the world! And held hands! In space!

Also no one can prove they didn’t kiss after the camera panned away, OK?

Is this connected to Diakko Week? Why Diakko Day?

Because most ships, especially anime ships, have popular days to celebrate them in their fandoms! These are often fun dates, like combining the two characters’ favourite numbers, or the canonical day they met, so the community figured Diakko needed one too! The great number of submissions last year would seem to agree, and we can’t wait to see what you all have for us this year!

Diakko Week is a separate event that occurs in the summer. Some of the folks involved in organising Diakko Week are also part of the team for Diakko Day (they say hi!), but the two events are distinct (hence our lack of prompts), united primarily by our desire to celebrate our favourite witches.

I do it all! I have a tendency to run long, though. Once I have an idea, it's tough for me to stop writing. However, I would love to receive these kinds of requests.

If so, how many characters can we request for scenarios or headcanons?

Like I said, I run long just because I struggle to stop. A safe MAX for me would be 3 characters. However, you can always make multiple requests, and I will get to them when I can.

Can we request characters from different fandoms in a request?

Of course, you can! It may take me a little longer to finish it, though. This is only because I tend to put myself in that place where I am writing, so hopping around fandoms might take me a minute. I am a woman aiming to please, though!

Would you do the same prompt with different characters?

I don't think so unless you gave me a new direction; for example, a jealousy trope that's sweet and innocent might not be repeated, whereas if you asked for a jealousy trope that was more mean/sexual/ or even angsty, I would do it.

Can we request for male reader, female reader, gender neutral reader, etc?

As of right now, I am only doing AFAB and Female Readers. This is just due to me being female myself and only recently coming out in the LGBTQ+ community. I don't want to write for someone else's position till I am more comfortable and know I won't mess it up or say something that could instead harm the LGBTQ+ community. I intend to eventually start doing WLW content, male and GN readers. However, things like trans readers, asexual readers, etc. I am on the fence about just due to not being in those people's shoes, and I do not want to pretend or act like I know about their struggles and challenges in life. I do have a Trans best friend, though, who has offered to help me write/read over my stories whenever I get to the point where I feel like I could go more in-depth with LGBTQ+ readers.

For Baldur's Gate 3, would you write Haarlep, Rolan, and Zevlor?

I would definitely write for those characters. When making my write-for list, I initially was like, 'I am going to make this small, so I don't get overwhelmed.' Then I added like a billion more people. I must add these three to the list of characters I write for!

Are there any topics you won't do like rape, suicide, suicidal thoughts, etc?

So, I am a graduate student of psychology and would like to touch on more mental health topics in literature. I want to do them healthily and constructively, which prevents glorification. However, topics like sexual assault, Rape, and horrible violence I would like to stay away from if possible. I have been assaulted in my past like many others have, and I think it definitely could be triggering for me and some others, but that's what trigger warnings are there for, I am aware. I think for sure some characters have darker tendencies, such as Tom Riddle, Matteo Riddle, and even some Draco Malfoy writers. I know of even some Acended Astarion writers who portray him in that violent manner. I think there are definitely exceptions, so it would have to be a case-by-case situation. Like I said in my write-for-the-post, if I don't deem your request appropriate or okay, I will message you personally and discuss why I won't. Long story short- 100% no, I will not write for Rape. However, in specific situations and explanations, I may write for other darker topics if I deem it okay and safe for me to do so.

Do you do poly ships x reader?

This is another one I am hesitant about. I have been in two poly relationships, and both ended horribly bad. I feel like I have a very negative view of them due to this, and I would not write this type of trope well.

Would you mind if we request for Alternate Universes or Aus like AU where the character lives happily?

I would love this! I love reading and writing Au's, especially since I can't help putting our modern-day slang into stories. XD

For Baldur's Gate 3 requests, would you mind if we don't specify the race/class to leave it ambiguous or if we ask specify the race/class like human/healer?

Of course, I don't mind! I would only ask you to specify for any universe if it was a match-up request, and I needed to know more about your personality/character to match you up. Besides, I don't mind doing ambiguous Tav's, Students, or Sinners. Due to the nature of most writing, though, even from what I have been reading the last few years, I know it can be hard to be 100% ambiguous, so please bear with me if I accidentally give Tav a specific power for only one race/class. Or I put a student in a particular category of house.

What kinks would you accept for requests?

I love this question because I don't even know my own kinks if I am being honest. Any 'Basic' (aka very well-known kinks) would be OK, and I could write for them. Anything more obscure, I would have to do research on and may not even touch.

Can anons send NSFW requests?

Though I understand with technology and social media now, it is so easy for people under 13 to get on to platforms, let alone people under 18, to get into sexual content, I would like to not participate in that. So, Anons, I am sorry, but you can not request sexual content. I want to be able to go through the requester account and make sure they are, in fact, over 18 and can handle mature content like that; however, if you request something sexual and you don't want your profile to be attached to the story/request, please put that in your ask so I can just copy your prompt and thank you anonymously.

1. What made you ship it?

First off they are constantly touching each others chests MY GOD. Not to mention how often they get up in each others faces holy shit.

I think you have to be dumb to not see why people ship it. Also that whole “need to be dominated” scene with dawn, then jo shows up right after that and bosses him around. COME ON. Then the rest of that scene and how it played out. Him poking her chest and then she pushes him away in a way that’s like “oh I’ll show you who’s boss.” Squat thruster ‼️‼️‼️ (why did she do that) Plus she seems to have genuine respect for him which is really nice. She’s given him the most nicknames out of everyone too.

Also 2/5 of bricks confessionals are about jo. The other three times he’s just talking about himself. I thought that’d be fun to mention. Jo wants to feel good about herself and brick wants to be a fashion designer and he can make her cute clothes i think.

I am never going to let anyone ever forget about that “maybe brick and jo wanna kiss and make up?” line UGHHH. Even Chris low key shipped it. There’s just sooo much to them. Also comedy potential with lightning thinking Jo’s a gay twink the whole time and idk maybe there could be something with jock and lightning. I’m convinced at least a few animators shipped them.

Just WIWJWJEN there’s so so so much. She’s the only person who convinced him to go against his code. That man is devoted. And then when she pulled him out of that grave and there was music playing and they zoomed in on them holding hands.. I initially shipped them because when I was younger I was looking for fanart and came across a fake screenshot of them kissing and 9 year old me beloved it was real 🥲 you can imagine my disappointment when they didn’t end up smooching. In the finale they’re constantly next to each other too. There’s way too much going on between them, I also take Jo’s dream about letting a guy win because she found him ‘attractive’ as a jock crumb. + they have a good ship name.

That rock climbing scene where brick talks about his rock wall climbing badge or something and jo seems genuinely impressed for a moment, then he goes on and says how he dislocated his hip and jo is like “oh never mind he’s weird.” LMAOOO. Brick really wanted to show off there huh. They’re both so fucking stupid iwhwnsnens

Plus we know Jo’s type is dark hair and cleft chins. She really needs to kiss her rivals okay

2. What are your favorite things about this ship?

Basically everything I mentioned before. Bricks “need to be dominated” basically confirms that jo would be his type, what can I say. And he calls her ma’am, and is just generally very respectful even when she gets under his skin. I really really love how jo tries to get under his skin, it’s so fun. And brick is slowly losing his mind. Also he didn’t vote for her in ep7, he voted for lightning, and we know that because jo got her marshmallow first, meaning lightning got one vote from brick. That is soo. Yeah. He probably would feel bad if he voted for her. He probably didn’t vote for her in ep4 either.

And he breaks his code for her. Like, his entire thing is never leave a man behind, and jo convinces him to leave everyone behind. And that causes his first elimination but MANNNNN…. He really really respects her. And I really like women who bully their boyfriends, it’s so fun. There’s probably so much more that I could say about them that I forgot to add.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

When people write their platonic dynamic in fanfics is always so. Meh. They treat it like she just harasses him but he views her as an equal, and she sees him as a competitor she can actually have banter with. Also please stop calling them mlm/wlw solidarity. I’m not saying that because I ship them but because she has made it her life goal to make his as miserable as possible. HOSTILITY.

I’ll make my own analysis on their rivalry, not to be shippy but so people just understand how they interact because a lot of people don’t get it.

Jock is very very special to me. The only way I can enjoy m/f ships is if they’re fighting 24/7. It’s awesome. Plus he’s also the only man I can ship with Jo tbh. Other m/f Jo ships make me like ehhhhh I dunno

the movie and comic are closest to my depiction of ramona! aspects of the show are present, but i mostly aim to expand upon the character of ramona as she exists in the movie and the comics with my own thoughts and experiences injected into her. ramona flowers is a character that means the absolute world to me.

a side note, i am a big supporter of the headcanon that ramona has BPD, largely in part due to her self sabotaging behavior, impulsive episodes, seemingly quick and irritable mood changes, instability in relationships and mood, and characteristic feelings of emptiness. also because i OOC have BPD so she is me and i am her. this does come into play with my portrayal.
