I'm certain you have said it before, but can you point me toward where/what app you use to listen to podcasts these days? I lost the app I was using (apparently it is no longer supported? or something) and I want to get back into listening to them now that NaClYoHo is giving me greats recs
Oh sure! I use PodcastAddict -- though I caveat that it's only available for Android. (Honestly if you have iOS, the last time I checked the native podcatcher was one of their better apps and is very similar to Addict, so if you don't like the iOS catcher you probably wouldn't like Addict anyway. I just hated Android's native catcher, which lacked features I wanted.)
There's a free version with ads -- it's not pop-over ads, just a little banner at the bottom -- but you can also make a one-time payment to get the ads removed. There's also a $10/yr "premium" subscription that removes the ads and gives you access to some small but convenient extra features. The subscription also helps support its ongoing existence, since it's run by like one dude and needs his full-time attention.
My absolute favorite feature, which I believe is available across versions, is that you can enter a feed for a paid podcast and subscribe to it -- so like, I support a handful of podcasts through Patreon, and I can enter the Patreon "paid" feeds for those and get the paid bonus episodes sent straight to the catcher, thus avoiding Patreon's heinously bad podcast interface.
It's the #1 podcatcher on the Google Play store, and just a great example of an app that was built to do a specific thing, does it well, doesn't change unless it's to upgrade something, and offers extremely reasonable levels of access. I think in all the time I've had it, the interface hasn't significantly changed even once, which I treasure in an app.

BEDTIME STORIES PODCAST ???!!!
i have an rss feed for my internet archive page!
=====
UPDATE 2025.06.17--we're about to have an official Bedtime Stories Podfic Internet Archive Collection so please check back sooooon for updated rss feed link !!!
=====
all you need to do if interested is copy THIS UGLY LINK (also the first reply below) into your preferred podcast app under the 'follow podcast by url' option
nuance: apparently, the archive rss feeds setup is such that only the first file contained in each item loads as an episode. so i figure this way y'all will get the 'teaser trailer' for any multi-part podfics and then you'll know if you like it enough to go find the rest of it :)
btw. i include the following information in my podfic item descriptions, so to make it easier to find the og fic and leave some love for the author!
[podfic] TITLE by AUTHOR (# words) on ao3 LINK. FANDOM, SHIPNAME, rated ?
ps. to setup the rss feed i used a guide by godoflaundrybaskets @godoflaundrybaskets and used my fandom email as the unique identifier (bc i have been uploading my podfics using that one account since jan 19th!)
pps. followed this set of instructions to request the officially curated archive.org collection

ever since setting up web feeds in inoreader for dropout i have sometimes seen the same video multiple times with different timestamps, and i've always assumed that means they had to edit something and republish, and usually i have to wonder what small tweak they made

Been listening to @spacepupsilver 's Fetish Fuel podcast. Highly recommend if you like to hear some extremely smart people talk about their niche kinks from some very unique perspectives.
Also, totally spies mentioned! Truly my fetish fuel :P

Some of the folks behind my favorite horror podcast just recently started a new podcast called World Gone Wrong and if you like podcasts at all I cannot recommend it enough
It's a fictional chat show about the end of the world between two roommates currently living half the country apart and they're talking about things like how to werewolf-proof your home against your lycanthropy-infected purse dog and it's so funny but there's something so gentle and empathetic about it that feels so relevant to the way everything actually is. Even though they're talking about pod people.
There's only 4 episodes so far so it's a really quick listen, please listen to World Gone Wrong

My name is already based on a podcast but that makes the challenge of finding a different one extra fun xD
Best you specified as if you hadn't specified I probably would've just given you The Magnus Archives. I'm so sure I've heard another podcast with a jar full of ashes but all I can think of is this one scene from:

Breathing Space: A Sci-Fi Western Space Anthology
(Alt: Breathing Space Fading Frontier)
Sci-Fi (Space Western) • Anthology
Exactly what it says on the tin, a space western anthology that makes the most of every single word in that descriptor. All episodes are set in the same broad time in the same universe and you will hear tidbits and connections between these stories, as well as the delicious lore each builds. Some are feel-good, some are heartbreaking, plenty give commentary on the world we ourselves exist in, one is possibly the most fucked up piece of horror I've ever encountered. Also the theme song is, very good. If you don't like episode 1, stick along for episode 2 before you quit.

So I used to have an ability where people would tell me things. Not with me asking mind you, just we'd start talking and they'd say things that they'd normally keep secret, or at least not tell a complete stranger. I'd try to warn people, or redirect the conversation if things got too personal, but it still kind of happened. A while ago though, I had something of a burnout, and my "gift" was probably part of it. And now it's gone. Is it weird that I kind of miss it? Even though it was a pain?
I don't think it's “weird” necessarily, reader – you'd grown used to existing in the world in a certain way and it makes sense that you would feel disconcerted when that way of being has been disrupted.
However, I wonder if it might not necessarily be the powers itself that you're missing, but rather the effect those powers had. Specifically, you've grown used to enjoying a remarkable level of intimacy with others without the usual hard work or reciprocation on your part.
Most people need a certain degree of emotional connection with other people in order to stay well. The quantity and quality of connection needed varies from person to person, with some people thriving on what others would find distressingly low levels of emotional engagement.
I wonder if you might have grown used to meeting your own needs in this regards through the use of your powers. That would explain your feelings of loss now, especially if you haven't got other avenues to meet those needs.
To be clear, I am not saying that as a judgement on you – this wasn't a power you asked for, nor one you could control. We have had letters from people in past who took a little too well to having this kind of control over people, and you don't strike me as one of them.
Besides, it is a wonderful feeling, to be trusted with someone's innermost thoughts and feelings. Growing close with others is a notoriously cyclical process – vulnerability is impossible without trust, and trust is impossible without vulnerability.
However, your powers meant you could skip straight to the part where other people are vulnerable with you, without sharing anything of yourself or building a connection with the people you're talking to. Without those powers, you're going to have to take the slow path.
Check in with your friends and loved ones, and try to be honest with them about your own emotions. Reach out to them when you're in need, and let them support you. In time, with a proper investment of effort and emotion, you will be able to build genuine connections with the people around you, replacing the easy hit you once got from your powers with something much more sustainable, and sustaining.

Introducing KeriArentikai Podfic Radio!
I now have a collection on archive.org! This means that I have an RSS feed for it. If you'd like to add the feed to your podcatcher, the RSS feed is: http://archive.org/services/collection-rss.php?collection=keri-arentikai-podfic-radio
I'll be using this only for my podfic radio podfics - that is, the daily/almost daily fanfic reads I do with a little bit of introduction and conclusion, and some possibility of inline comments. So I won't be dumping a 6 hour read all at once into your podcatcher!
All my podfics will be posted and updated on ao3 exactly as before, so if you want to ignore this entirely, please feel free! In fact, I have absolutely no way (as far as I'm aware?) to see if anyone subscribes so I will absolutely never know if you do or don't! Do what you want!! Be happy!!!
