my favourite pokémon is typhlosion because the first pokémon game i ever beat was heartgold with cyndaquil as my starter so i formed a stron emotional attachment to the whole line. his name was blaze and i loved him very much

but also i wiped my save so i could give my copy of the game to my little brother because he wanted to play it and a few weeks ago he came to me because he was stuck on part of the game. and it was the EXACT part that i got stuck on originally when i played it. he was stuck in a different way so it wasn’t the exact same but i did think it was very funny

i tried to resist this shiny hunt... but the very moment that i got the pokeflute, i knew i would need to take it on. there's only two snorlaxes in leafgreen, blocking off routes like the icons they are. i always feel bad about waking them up so i figured they deserved the time commitment of a shiny hunt! (and lbr, the snorlax encounter is SUCH a classic... ough.)

snorlax has a pretty subtle shiny design, but it grew on me sooo much with time... the shade of blue is a super pretty one! i was actually a bit worried that i wouldn't notice the shiny whenever it showed up, but i noticed her RIGHT away when she did. the encounter was a pretty terrifying one - she has the rest + chesto berry combo, smdh, not to mention snorlax's catch rate - but i managed to catch her in a pokeball, which is pretty cool.

ANYWAY!!!! sleepytime was my 8726th snorlax seen! my first overodds hunt on this badge quest AND my first overodds hunt in a 1/8192 game... glad it wasn't too far overodds! and i hope that she'll forgive me for disturbing her cozy slumber!

as you can see after a lot of meandering i did the whole bit of the game where you find the castle owner’s furfrou next to camphrier and he does a fireworks show for you and gives you the pokeflute to wake up snorlax on the bridge (as an aside, doing that fireworks cutscene again reminded me of how irritated i was when this game came out and i was 13 that the dialogue with shauna changes if you’re a girl to be less romantically leaning. which is funny in retrospect because they don’t do the same thing with lisia’s flirty dialogue in ORAS if you pick may? same gen lmao. i guess way less people ran into that since its optional side content)

also in speaking of the snorlax, i engaged with the battle and was weakening it to catch it and in the process found out it had a sitrus berry, and i really wanted the sitrus berry but i also didn’t want to try catching snorlax in a normal pokeball on more than half HP so i used my new team member Scalpel the espurr to covet that shit

oh yeah and afterwards since i got to the daycare i was finally able to breed down more white flower flabebe to get Chainsaw 2… the first one i caught had a detrimental nature but i didn’t wanna run around for 2 hours looking for another white flower one again, so i waited until now. she’s docile which is neutral but that’s fine w me

oh and! now that i have an oddish with sweet scent from the route right outside the castle, i backtracked and spammed horde battles to get the 5% plusle horde since those always spawn with a single minun, and otherwise plusle basically functions like a version exclusive, so i’m happy to add that to the dex lol

usually, yes! i have a real ocarina that i used for most of cody's older pokeflute posts.

but recently, since i don't live alone, i haven't been able to find a good time to sit down and record my playing without someone in the background causing audio disturbance. and since i needed to get those asks out quick, i unfortunately had to use an alternative that's less authentic for cody's more recent pokeflute posts. i've been using FL studio for those, so if they sound a bit different from cody's older posts, that's the reason!
