Natsume week, day 6: Travel
Pokemon AU, specifically a Hisui one, cause I've had this in my wips for ages and the story of legends arceus definitely fits the 'travel' prompt. I've had the idea for a pokemon AU for ages but could never figure out a good pokemon to represent madara, until I played legends arceus and saw Hisuian Zoroark, and immediately I knew I had to make a Hisui AU. The more historical setting and the 'wilder' pokemon fits the vibe of natsuyuu better too tbh
I also posted a timelapse of this to my patreon if ppl are interested!
Story wise, Natsume would probably be the grandson of the first person to fall through the rift several decades ago, and has drifted from town to town after his parents died due to people's scepticism of Reiko and their families' stronger connection to pokemon. Eventually he ends up in yatsuhara tho and gets taken in by the Fujiwaras, and ends up joining the survey corps with Taki and Tanuma to learn more about pokemon. Taki's grandfather started the survey corps, but passed away recently so now Taki is carrying in his footsteps. Tanuma wants to learn more about pokemon but doesn't have a lot of experience with them, the only one he's been able to tame is a single magikarp.
Natori and Matoba would be the Diamond and Pearl clans obviously but I haven't figured out what pokemon they'd have so I didn't draw them lol

Class: Evolution and Age
Hello everyone! I'm Ranger Lark, feel free to just call me Lark, I use he/they pronouns. And this here is my partner, Sedge- she/her. I'm hear to teach about evolution, particularly some common misconceptions about it, and how it can be different across different Pokemon species.
Now, some of you may already be familiar with evolution. Especially those of you with more experience training and battling. How many of you have had a pokemon evolve?
Now, many people think of evolution as a developmental stage- like a baby growing into an old person. This is actually a common misconception! Most unevolved Pokemon are fully adults!
Now, there are some species for whom evolution is a necessary part of the life cycle. This is especially common in bug types. Female combee need to evolve into Vespiqueen, for example, to reproduce. And as a scientific term, the category of "Baby" pokemon, including pokemon like Magby, Budew and Mantyke, doesn't just mean young or newborn pokemon. It refers to pokemon that are incapable of breeding at that stage of evolution.
Now, the belief that evolution is a growth stage goes hand in hand with the misconception that evolution is necessary for every pokemon. And that's just not true! Most wild pokemon live perfectly healthy and full lives without ever evolving. Here are some photos of elderly but unevolved pokemon! [IDs in Alt]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So if evolution isn't about growing up, why do pokemon evolve? Well, that's going to be different for every species! For a lot of pokemon, evolution is only necessary as a kind of battle-form, for pokemon that deal with threats frequently. For example, in the Olive Jungle of my homeland in Fiore, you can find squads of Treecko, with one or two Grovyle, and very rarely any Sceptile. The evolved grovyle act as protectors for the rest of the group, and the rest of the Treecko live their lives without needing to fight many wild pokemon, and not evolving.
This is why evolution is so common among the pokemon who belong to trainers! Evolution is adapted primarily for battling, or similar high-need situations. So a pokemon who is frequently battling and competing in gyms is very likely to evolve, because it simulates an environment in which the high energy cost of evolution is worth the strength benefits. For the vast majority of wild pokemon, they're not in combat enough to need that boost.
Rockruff are another great example of a species using evolution for a specific niche. Rockruff and lycanroc packs are actually families. There are usually two lycanroc parents- 'Alphas', to use the outdated term- and their children. The most successful packs often have a mix of forms, one day and one night lycanroc, so the young are protected around the clock. As long as there's a leader, the rockruff won't evolve. They are actually able to hormonally suppress and delay evolution for this purpose. It's only when a rockruff goes out to seek a mate and start its own pack- or takes over as leader from their elderly parent- that a rockruff will evolve into a lycanroc. The biological evolution comes with taking the ecological role.
So if a pokemon isn't evolved, that doesn't mean it's underdeveloped or unhealthy. When you see an evolutionary line like Chikorita, Bayleef, and Meganium, try not to think of the stages as "Baby", "Teenager", "Adult". It's often a lot more like "Baker", "Martial Artist", "Soldier". All three are adults, they just have different jobs and specialties, with different experience with defense and battle. Any questions?

So, you told me to DM my idea, so here it is!
I believe that Pecharunt wants one thing: Revenge. Essentially, it’s constantly in pain, agony and suffering. However, no one knows about it, one day in the crater, when most of the trees and terapogas’s died, everyone pinned the blame on Pecharunt and exiled it from the crater. Fueled by hatred, it vows to return and destroy the crater and the world. Starting by absorbing
the last Terapogas, but he doesn’t know the location so it seeks after the masks that Eustace made. After waiting for who knows how long, the events of the DLCs happen. The only difference is that the doll at Peachy’s is not there but the shop owner is (Pecharunt placed her under its control). Before Stellar form Terapogas is defeated, Pecharunt comes out and absorbs it. There is a reason why but Pecharunt is not only absorbing Terapogas, but other
legendaries as well. See, I remember BirdKeeperToby making a video about the tree of life and how the last legendaries may relate to it. But for simplicity’s sake, Pecharunt formulated a plan and also wants to absorb Eternamax Eternatus, Ultra Necrozma, Zygarde Complete form, The Tao trio and Mega Rayquaza. VERY SPECIFICALLY in those forms. It’ll have enough power to then take down the creation trio in another timeline. Then it would travel to another
timeline to absorb Arceus before it hatched and become god in that timeline (he did absorb Hoopa Unbound in another timeline) However, it was eventually stopped by the protagonists and the legendaries would be freed. But it was a hollow victory in the end, as before Pecharunt unfused, it was able to use the last of its energy to blast Kieran to another timeline where Pokémon are nothing more than machines, and the Pokemon that were freed did not make a full
recovery as the legendaries were still poisoned even after 8 months. And Kieran is nowhere to be found. Pecharunt would then be deemed too dangerous to capture and train so high tech prison was made specifically just to house it. Making it the first pokemon to be imprisoned. But that’s my idea! Sorry if I rambled on for too long (a bit of my autistic side is here). If you’re confused about Pecharunt absorbing, I think that can happen as Pecharunt may have the
ability to absorb souls, since the third signboard in Kitakami talked about ‘your soul will be forfeit to the ogre’ or something, but I think it’s referring to Pecharunt. Also, I think that Pecharunt would probably rename itself later into something like ‘Dokuwāro’ or something. But again, thanks for listening!
Okay, so while this stuff may fit on my alt, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS IDEA! Dokutaro/Pecharunt being blamed for something wouldn't be off the mark, as it always has seemed kinda mischievous to me. I also kinda am inspired to maybe thing that Dokutaro is the reason like Ogerpon is blamed for a lot of other things than just the situation with the Loyal Three. Dokutaro could be not just upset because it didn't get it's way but for other happenings such as say Eustace not making it a glittery mask to give it power or something else, so Eustace is now cursed by Dokutaro. I was thinking of the idea that maybe Eustace is stuck in the blackish void of it's inside-shell, if that even makes sense, and that being how Dokutaro stores souls.
I know this is a little ooc from what you said but you're giving me ideas to spitball here. Also its name being Pecharunt...it must have been small and weak and frail at one point...what if it took mock-pity on Kieran later on and fed Kieran his power or so? I'm sorry if my answer seems a little broken I have a weird attention-span and can only remember certain things^^ I love this idea tho and I wonder if I could incorporate it into like, the itty bitty bits n' pieces of Project Venus, esp since it somewhat lines up in canon!

Day 30 (Alt): New Friends
(Check out the final chapter on AO3!)
It had started fairly simply as a conversation about rock climbing on Chatotter, with Ingo and Grant both talking about their experiences free-climbing and the various views they’ve seen. The two discussed climbing techniques, height records, particularly dangerous climbs that they pushed through. Finally, Grant brought up what had been on Ingo’s mind - Lets Climb Together.
And so Ingo and Emmet found themselves out on the coast of Kalos, in Cyllage City, looking down from the cliff top road down onto the town. “This is beautiful,” Ingo says in an airy tone. “I would climb these mountains daily for this view alone.”
“I am Emmet. That seems like a lot of work,” Emmet says, looking down at the city. There were roads and stairs that lead up to where the pair were standing, but to go any higher would either require a Pokémon or climbing gear to scale the mountain. “This view is enough, and we did work for it.”
“Yes, but it was all leg work. Not really that satisfying or helpful in getting my heart pumping,” Ingo says as he looks down the road to the little Sneasel that was running towards the two. “Return to station, Young Lady!”
“My blood got pumping,” Emmet mutters as he begins moving back to the stairs. “I am Emmet, and I want to be on time. Come along, brother!”
“Coming!” As Young Lady scampers up onto Ingo’s back, the pair of twins begin to descend the stairs towards Cyllage’s city center, chatting about the variety of Pokemon that they had seen in the cavern the day before, and whether any would make for good additions to their teams. The entire journey, Young Lady swoops around Ingo like he’s a stationary pole, using him for her own entertainment.
Finally, the pair arrive at the Gym, where a young man stands outside, gemstones woven into his hair. “Ah, Ingo!” He calls out, waving towards the pair as they approach. “I’m glad the both of you could make it! Come on in!” He quickly opens the doors, and ushers the two in.
“I’m glad we could make it, Grant! I wouldn’t want to mi-” Ingo pauses mid-sentence, and he, Emmet, and Young Lady all look around at the gym in awe. It was modeled like the inside of a cavern, with stone walls and ceilings, and a large waterfall cascading down in the back into the retention section below. Ingo, and especially Young Lady, were immediately pulled back to their time in Hisui at the sight and sound, and it didn’t surprise either twin when the Sneasel leapt from Ingo’s shoulder and ran to the nearest wall.
“I am Emmet. This is beautiful,” Emmet says softly as he looks around. “The logistics of this must be outstanding. How does the waterfall work?”
“I’m glad you asked, it’s actually really fascinating!” Grant leads Emmet over to the railing, and they both look down, Emmet putting his hand on his flat cap to hold it in place. “There are actually grates down there, so it is drains into a reservoir down below, and then pumped back to the top over the course of the day.”
“Interesting,” Emmet says as he nods, tapping his chin. “How frequently do you clean the reservoirs, to keep the water clean?”
“We have pumice and basalt filters, and every Tuesday w-”
While the two talk about the water system, Ingo finds himself staring up at the rock wall that Young Lady had scaled. “Now, Lady, your mother may have stayed home with Elesa, but that doesn’t mean that you should go leaping across cliff faces!” High above, the Sneasel audibly blows him a razzberry and begins to scurry a little higher.
Huffing, Ingo takes off his coat and hat, laying them on the bench nearby as he judges the surroundings. The ground is padded, which is good since most of Grant’s challengers wouldn’t have any experience climbing, and while there are easy climbing spots like at any climbing park, Young Lady had decided to climb on the more natural rock face. That sort of rock face wasn’t unfamiliar to Ingo, and since it wasn’t naturally formed, some places were a little smooth.
Ingo starts on the recreational climbing wall, making his way about 15 feet before transitioning onto the actual stone. Finding the first few handholds was pretty easy, and in fact Ingo suspected that there were some more natural handholds purposely carved in for more experienced climbers like him. That would explain why so much of it felt like the perfect spacing for a climber. Slowly but surely, Ingo was catching up to Young Ladyc and in just a few minutes, he snags her off the wall. “Come with me, you little fare dodger,” he says with a laugh as she squirms.
By this point, Ingo is several yards from the nearest recreational wall, and so he sets Young Lady on his back and begins moving back to it. “Now, I get that climbing is fun, but we need to keep on the tracks,” he says calmly as they move to the artificial handholds. “You can’t just go leaping around in unfamiliar cliff faces!”
“Snea!” Young Lady whaps the top of Ingo’s head to show her displeasure. “Snea sneas!”
“I understand you aren’t happy being babysat, but it’s what your mother wan-” Ingo had to quickly stop what he was saying as Young Lady began to turn around on his back and prepare to launch away. “Safety checks, Lady! Cool your engines!”
On impulse, Ingo turns to grab at Young Lady as she disengages from him. He successfully snags her out of the air, but unfortunately his footing was now unsteady. Looking down, he sees that he’s about 20 feet above the mat, and holds Young Lady to his chest. “Mayday!”
At this, Emmet and Grant begin bolting in his direction as Ingo twists to his side, leaning slightly forward to the ground. His impact is swift arriving as he feels his arm smack into the padded floor, he and his passenger bouncing slightly before he rolls onto his back and groans.
“I am Emmet!” Emmet sternly speaks as he stands over Ingo. “What were you doing? It’s not like you to fall!”
Ingo groans again, before holding up a rattled Young Lady, who simply squeaks as she is displayed. “She jumped the turnstile. I saved her life.”
“She would’ve been fine, Ingo,” Grant says, grasping the arm that Ingo didn’t land on to help him up. “Now let’s get you looked at. That wasn’t a large fall, but it wasn’t nothing either.”
“It was barely a tumble,” Ingo tries to say to defend himself as he sets Young Lady down, who promptly clings to Emmet’s leg. “I’ve fallen from further!”
“And broke your leg.”
“There is no need to tell my climbing buddy I broke my leg falling down a cliff in Sinnoh!” Ingo shoots back at his brother while Grant laughs.

Herald of Ruin
Hello everyone. It's been awhile since I made a post here. Tumblr isn't exactly making things easy especially because I finally gotten asks after so long. And guess who got a glitch which makes it impossible to edit said asks much less one that still hasn't been solved in days?
Nevermind the details although since that isn't the focus. I got plagued with a new AU idea which wouldn't leave me alone. Thus this particular post.
We all know about Optimus Prime. The heroic leader of the Autobots, a kind and gentle mech who battles those that dare threaten the peace. Yet one part of him we really see is his humble origin as Orion Pax. The bot before the war truly war began.
In multiple iterations, Orion is depicted as a dock worker, a miner, or for this AU Prime's archivist version. What do I have in store for him? Let's begin. (Part 2 can be found here.)
Orion Pax didn't exactly know where he was. It definitely ain't Cybertron from the vibrant greenery, bright blue sky and the peculiar fauna that roamed around him. An organic world instead of metal.
His memory core being a massive mess didn't help either. Orion could access some datas like who he is, where he came from, his function, and even a few individuals but everything else is engulfed by errors. All the archivist could do at the moment was walk.
Thus Orion Pax took his first steps into this strange colorful world. A directionless path past red cliffs, small pools of water, and the various wildlife that watched from a distance in curiosity. It all led to a peculiar metallic emblem embedded in the one such cliff.
A large vault that bear an eerie vibrant purple symbol that glowed as if reacting to him. Without word, Orion Pax approach the strange landmark. His vision flashing constantly to a dark abyss that held a faint blue light before his outstretched servo.
Time began to stretch into constant flashes until contact been made. Orion Pax barely blinked before he found himself on the ground back to the colorful world around him. And it didn't take long to see amber eyes peer down his optics.
Narrow gaze full of skeptical curiosity in what embodies a pure ancient grudge woven in wooden tablets decorated by dead leaves. The kind which had Orion remembering a phrase hidden by broken processor. Knowledge is power. A treasure that can bring peace...
Or RuIn.
Yup. We are delving into the world of Pokemon as Orion Pax just encounter the Ruinous Tablets: Wo-Chien. In Scarlet and Violet, there are four unique seals scattered across the region. These contain the Treasures of Ruin, powerful Pokemon that brought disaster onto Paldea long long ago.
Wo-Chien is the wooden tablets used by a grudge filled scribe to write the deeds of a corrupt king. The Pokemon doesn't attack Orion for one sheer reason: curiosity. It never seen anything like the archivist before.
The potential of untold knowledge leads to an unspoken alliance between the two. Something which later evolves into a powerful bond. Orion names the Wo-Chien 'Blackbox'. (Black boxes are devices that record and contain important data.)
It doesn't take long until the two come across a Pokemon Trainer named Roc. (This trainer fills the main character role for Scarlet/Violet.) After a misunderstanding which involves a language barrier and mistaking a Cybertronian for a Pokemon, Orion Pax's path is laid.
Travel the Paldea region alongside Roc, maybe even help him on his journey. By doing this he could piece together the answers to what led him here and maybe get back home. For now Orion learns about this strange new world.
Travelling across Paldea is gonna require a mix of alt mode, holoform and alternate fuel sources. Orion's alt mode is gonna be a cargo truck since my headcanon height for him is 19 ft. As for alternate fuel, it takes the forms of Tera Shards.
These shards are crystallized energy only found in the Paldea region and responsible for a phenomenon known as Terastallization. Roc made a desperate attempt to save a energy drained Orion by having him consume a Dark Tera Shard. These items become vital for the Cybertronian until he can fully perfect a recipe for Synthetic Energon. Success varies.
For Pokemon, Orion only catches those who wish to join him unless a situation calls for it. Like the safety of the creature in question that leads to no other option. Otherwise Orion leaves them be. The same goes for battling as well with the exception of spars.
Our archivist will have a team like any other trainer and I'll be going over the main ones. His signature team basically. Let's start with Orion's first Pokemon.
Blackbox: Wo-Chien
Type: Dark/Grass Nature: Serious Tera: Dark
Ability: Tablets of Ruin- reduce the ATK of all other Pokemon on the field.
Moves: Growth, Ruination, Giga Drain, Dark Pulse
This grumpy book snail of a Wo-Chien prefers to quietly read and nap in peace. He's not above using his ability to intimidate someone if irritated enough. Blackbox isn't fully heartless though as he cares for Orion alongside his close companions in subtle ways. Harm them and this Wo-Chien will drain those offenders dry.
Purrlee: Purugly
Type: Normal Nature: Jolly Tera: Ground
Ability: Defiant - Boosts Attack when stats lowered.
Moves: Play Rough, Hone Claws, Dig, Bulldoze
Orion's second Pokemon, this Tiger Cat is surprisingly very friendly, snuggly and energetic despite the species. She was abandoned by her former Trainer after evolving from Glameow. Purrlee has a tendency to bowl over others for surprise nuzzles. No one stops her though, not even Blackbox.
Vos: Gligar
Type: Ground/Flying Nature: Impish Tera: Poison
Ability: Hyper Cutter- Prevents Attack from lowering
Moves: Cross Poison, Swords Dance, Bulldoze, Fire Fang
A wild glutton who serves as Orion's third Pokemon. He joined the team back when he was a Gligar that gotten lost from his group and slept in the archivist's cabin. Vos' name is coined from a lost memory that the Pokemon had accidentally triggered. He loves sleeping in Orion's cabin or hang off him like a perch.
Shard: Quaquaval *Shiny
Type: Water/Fighting Nature:Timid Tera: Ice
Ability: Moxie- boosts Attack for each Pokemon they defeat
Moves: Aqua Step, Ice Spinner, Counter, Hurricane
Orion's fourth Pokemon is a shy dancer who wishes to perfect her craft. Shard started as a very timid Quaxly who evolves over the span of the adventure. The dual type has gain more confidence upon becoming a Quaquaval but still hides behind Orion if spooked.
Noctis: Grimmsnarl
Type: Dark/Fairy Nature: Naughty Tera: Fairy
Ability: Pickpocket - Steals an item if physically attacked
Moves: Spirit Break, Play Rough, Drain Punch, Crunch
A loyal yet mischievous powerhouse that became Orion's fifth Pokemon. He started as a self destructive chaotic Morgrem who absolutely loathe the archivist until one fateful incident led to Noctis not only evolving into Grimmsnarl but try to better himself. The dual type still pull pranks, thankfully these aren't as dangerous like back then.
Vector Prime: Steelix *Can Mega Evolve
Type: Steel/Ground Nature: Gentle Tera: Steel
Ability: Sturdy - Cannot be knocked out with 1 hit KOs
Moves: Dragon Dance, Iron Tail, Psychic Fangs, Metal Burst
A mysterious Pokemon that can sense space-time anomalies serves as Orion's sixth Pokemon. Vector is a grandfatherly soul who tends to dote on everyone and provide comfort or wisdom if needed. His name stems from a triggered memory like Vos. Vector can mega evolve with the Steelixite Orion earned if need be.
Crimson: Koraidon
Type: Dragon/Fighting Nature: Hasty Tera: Dragon
Ability: Orichalcum Pulse -Turns the sunlight harsh when entering battle. The ancient energy thrumming through this Pokemon boosts it's Attack in harsh sunlight.
Moves: Collision Course, Iron Head, Dragon Claw, Shadow Claw
A hyperactive and affectionate Legendary that is Orion's emotional support Pokemon. He was entrusted to the archivist by Professor Sada as a Ride Pokemon, although she's unaware of him not being human. Crimson spends most his time munching on sandwiches and making others laugh than battling. Doesn't mean the Koraidon is unable to curb stomp those who wish to cause trouble.
I can't forget about Orion's human companion. Roc is a 23 year old trainer who tends to be quite carefree but also equally reckless. He aspires to be a Frontier Brain and run his own facility. To do so, he must compete in the Battle Frontier which will pit him against trainers who can match even Pokemon League champions in skill or strength.
Roc explores various regions to gain experience that could aid in his quest. He accidentally mistook Orion for a Pokemon on their first meeting and it took Blackbox stealing the man's Rotomphone to stop the fight from escalating. (There's a language barrier which can be resolved by the data inside the device.)
Roc is an enabler when it comes to Orion. From the limited info he got out of the bot's fragmented memory, the young man felt angry about how his new friend lived back on Cybertron. Something Roc decides to rectify by giving Orion a chance to experience life.
It does put a dent in his wallet but the price is worth it when the archivist gets to attend a carnival or read whatever book he wants. Orion tries to pay him back however Roc usually refuses. The time he doesn't is by asking to learn stuff from the bot in exchange.
Such things consist of reading/writing/understanding Cybertronian, history and other subjects on the planet that isn't functionalism. Roc's penmanship definitely approved upon trying to write Orion's language. He did roll his eyes when the bot mistook his handwriting for 'clocker' scratch. (Cybertronian Chicken)
I will be drawing Roc. For holoform design, either design my own or use the TFA version. Orion Pax is participating in all the events of the main Scarlet/Violet game and Teal Mask/Indigo Disk DLC alongside my OC except for the Pokemon League. Now this is the first half of my AU explanation.
The second will delve into the Transformers side and why it's called 'Herald of Ruin'. Do know that Orion Pax is gonna be quite different from his canon counterpart throughout this. I will drive a wedge between them and see how the character can molded.
That's all I got for now! Until next time folks, I'll see you back in Paldea. Now transform and roll out! Here's a Trainer Card that I made on Pokecharms.com for Orion Pax and Crimson(Koraidon).

<Oops! This video file appears to be corrupted! Don't worry, I will provide alt text!>
<The video appears to take place in one of the small caves along the side of Mt. Chimney. The rescue team is battling through the last of the cultists, with Amy and Elodie fighting in one pair and Ray and Juno fighting in another. Despite repeated, shouted claims that they're the "elite members" of the cult, they go down just as easy as the rest. It's such a wash for the more experienced battlers that Juno even appears to be checking xer phone mid-battle—much to Reuben's dismay. Their dismay only grows when they're stuffed into Amy's fire-resistant suit.
Finally, they reach the end of the tunnel. The narrow passage opens into a much larger cave. Pele can be seen near the back of the cave, holding Marny by her hair near the edge of a steep drop. The distinct glow of a magma pool illuminates the room from the bottom of the pit, and Marny can be heard pleading with its rouge second-in-command. Her words are lost in the echo of the cave and the rumbling of the magma below, but it's clear that they're not working this time. By their feet, a Diglett with a googly eye glued to its head cowers behind Marny.
Ray is the first one to step forward, their gaze sharply focused on the mute. They're followed closely behind by Elodie and Juno, with Amy hanging back slightly more than the rest. It seems he's still bewildered by the concept of Marny forming a thriving cult inside of a volcano within a week, whereas the rest of the group seems to have expected it. Greer flies ahead of them a fair distance, but doesn't cover the entire distance between them and the two leaders. Cephus stays by Juno's heels, silent in their obedience. Ponch hangs back behind the group briefly before stepping up to Ray's side, Snicker and Cardigan clinging to his shoulder.
Ray, in a low voice: Remember what we discussed: they have an Armaldo on their team, we know that for certain. Since they're so confident starting a fight this close to a magma pool, we can assume that their pokemon are largely rock, ground, and fire types. We can also safely assume that they're higher-leveled than the previous trainers. Are we ready to deal with that?
Juno: It's not like the past dozen rock, ground, and fire trainers have given us a fight.
Amy: I don't think this fight will be as easy as the last few, but I know we can deal with them. We just have to stay calm and not do anything stupid-
Elodie: HEY PEBBLEBRAIN, OVER HERE!
Pele snaps their head over to the approaching party so quickly it's a miracle they don't break a vertebra. They also pull Marny down somewhat in their shock, drawing a yelp from the scammer as she stares in terror alongside Pele's rage. The second-in-command forces Marny to the ground, and she scampers behind them in obedient fear as they begin signing.
Elodie: Yeah, that got your attention, didn't it!? Listen up, cunt, you'd better give Marny back right now! She's a fuckin' idiot, irresponsible, and overall a pain in the ass, but she's OUR PAIN IN THE ASS. So you'd better hand her over so I can kick her ass myself or SO HELP ME CEL-
Pele: [LEAVE NOW OR I THROW HER IN]
Amy: Don't do that. Listen, you seem like... A reasonable person. So, why don't you just give us Marny, you can keep the cult, we'll call it even. Okay?
Pele only continues to glare down the group, stepping forward and taking a pokeball off of their belt. Amy chuckles nervously as they approach, with Maxx stepping slightly in front of his trainer and sparking wildly. Ponch gently moves Elodie a little further away from Amy's side, seemingly aware of the danger at play.
Amy: So, is that a no, or-
Juno: What do you think, Wild Days?
Amy: I have a degree you know, I'm not just-
Pele, tired of the bickering, takes a ball off of their belt and sends out their Rhyperior. It looks back at them as the rescue team gets battle-ready, watching as they sign one command.
Pele: [KILL.]
The Rhyperior charges forward. Not at the pokemon, but directly towards the group of trainers. Without needing a command, Ponch intercepts and delivers a force palm, sending the massive rock type flying back a fair amount into the rocky cavern floor. The hit and impact are so loud, it could be mistaken for someone lighting dynamite in the tunnels. Rock dust and ash are kicked up in a massive cloud as the Hariyama glares down his target.
Then, surprisingly, it gets up. It's clearly damaged, stumbling and needing a moment to recover from the hit, but it's still okay to fight. Ray was right: these pokemon are much tougher than the ones before.
Ray locks eyes with Pele from across the room as Greer and Cephus join Ponch's side. The battle is only just beginning.>

Another Infodump: RANDOMAGOS
Tumblr media
Introduction
What are Randomagos?
Basically this is a thing similar to pokemon fan-regions but just not officially linked to pokemon. Beside the themes/aesthetic I went out of my way to change a lot of the core mechanics (The typing system is completely different, the battle system -if I were to make it an actual game- wouldn't be turn based, eggs works differently, etc). There also a bit of digimon inspo in these but it's not as obvious.
The name isn't set in stone yet, I've also consigered Monstrueuf monster + oeuf (egg) also a pun on monstrueux (monstruous) and Yistomons яйцо (egg) +monster. The name Randomago (and by extent the alt name Eggorythms Egg + Algorythm) hint at randomness mechanic (related to breeding)
note: I couldn't fit all the images so some evo lines are missing!
How creature Typing works
Typing is split into 2: Alignments and Will
Tumblr media
Alignments has 3 main type that work like rock paper scissor and a bonus 4th type that is weak to all three others. Wills give an additional boots. The themes of the Wills aren't as clear as pokemon type would be but that's kinda the point since I didn't want them to be similar.
Design notes
I wanted the design to have a semi-strict rule set for design so that they could easily be all identified as being part of the same project and not immediately get seen as outright fakemons.
Each creature has their dedicated egg design. Egg would do more than just evolve into beasties, they can also be fed to already hatched critters to make them evolve or used in crafting armors.
The egg theme is maintained in the first evo stage with critters keeping part of their shell as part of their design
There much less restriction with the final stage evos (honestly being forced to use a cracked eggshell on the baby design is hard sometimes). Tho I try to avoid any Gardevoir/Lopunny situations by not making any design that might look "too humanoid" XD
Ive's also considered a temporary fusion-form that only some creatures would have? (by temporary I mean kinda the same way digivolutions or mega evolutions are temporary it would only last a set time per battle or per day)
Battling and Armors
As mentioned at the start, if I were to make an actual battle system it wouldn't be turn-based. Creature would still have specific moves but it would be more like in Kingdom hearts with things being in real time with keybinded move-set. To make it a bit more varied on top of the typing and move-set choices there would be optional armors to equip
Tumblr media
Breeding
Still kind of up in the air right now but I wanted to potentially have it that when you breed two creature you wouldn't get one that match the parents unless both parents are the same, instead eggs would be random under the shared alignments (creatures need to be in the same alignment group to breed)
Designs
NPCs
I have these two "trainers": Daren and Daria, Twins (probably non-binary each leaning to a different side of things a tiny bit) I have some potential plot ideas for how they end up being the trainers but Im still a bit ??? about it. (they are Prof Braverly's younger siblings)
Tumblr media
the egg-shaped device around their neck is kinda like both a pokedeck, pokeball and digivice at the same time. IT STILL DONT HAVE A NAME FOR IT It's an "EgsNav". It's used to store critters as well as give info about scanned creatures. To capture creatures and transfer them into the EgsNav the trainer needs to use a field-trap (design not yet drawn).
I now also have 3 Professors/teachers that are also champions/representative of each of the 3 alignments

asks you about your dsmp fakemon ideas
thank you val valentine (and also solardrink who i saw in the tags [and anyone who i missed while writing this]) . getting out of the way that the starters would be dteam only because trying to make benchtrio the starters felt off and lmantrio didnt feel right either. for obvious reasons i will not be thinking about the starters much <3 instead ill choose tubbo for this ask bc hes the one im most sure on
tubbo is a three stage, with a sort of mix of the eeveelutions gimmick with the adaptive shifter hc. starting as a normal/bug (early days), then a normal/fire (post execution to mid snowchester), and finally normal/ice (late snowchester. i.e. like if dsmp had a better ending and he got to kill dream be w ranboo and grow old with michael lmao). the main thing that stays is him having a neck ruff, and for the sake of not having too much of a dissonance with his stages, all of them are a sheep base form.
the first is the herd-mind pokemon, a young pokemon who builds an eclectic herd of all different pokemon. despite the herd being seemingly built at random, it quickly grows disorientated and nervous when away from their chosen herd (alt entry: this young pokemon always adapts to the changes within its herd, but starts to flounder when outside it).
evolving after surviving a nearly fatal fire attack, the second evolution is the flickering leader pokemon, a pokemon with a burning core, now the leader of its herd. despite its new position, it always seems to long for its old herd (alt entry: stubborn to the end, this pokemon adapts yet again. always looking forward, it never seems to truly settle).
he finally evolves for the last time at a certain level + when reunited with the lmanburg group. the third evolution is the community pokemon. after true reunion, it seems to finally be at peace. (alt entry: finding comfort within its old herd and mixing in its new one, its found itself finally ready to take the reins with its own life.)
can you tell hes my favorite character .

A formal post (list) of fakemons inspired directly by Glitches Throughout the pokemon franchise. This has been solely my own doing and.. I want to share it for future OCs and ideas. This includes typing, dex entries, and more. Bad Egg will be in a future post when I have more ideas for it, It’s all very closely linked to its real glitch counterpart, and since Bad Egg / Pomeg Glitch is something I want to explore for actual fakemon inspired pokemon, it’ll require its own post.
SECTION 1: MISSINGNO AND ITS COUNTERPARTS -------- MissingNo!Kabutops - A rock and ghost type - Genderless - Said to be a spirit of a long dead Kabutops that’s decided it doesn’t want to leave the realm of the living yet, it endlessly searches for how it died in the first place. MissingNo!Aerodactyl - A fire and ghost type - Genderless - Said to have appeared after the revival of an Aerodactyl had failed, this skeletal roams the skies, nearly able to out-fly even a jet plane, cyanish flames cover what should be the wingspan of the Aerodactyl skeleton, and these flames cannot be extinguished.
------- MissingNo Alt Forms -------- ????? ‘ M (Glitched Celebi) - Fairy and Ghost types - Genderless - A Celebi cursed with being displaced through time itself while being traded or transferred through a PC, This Celebi frequently is unable to control its own time abilities. - M’Charizard - A Fire/Flying type - Male - No Female M’Charizard’s have existed or have been seen. A Charizard with green flames and a darker scale tone than regular Charizards, their screams have a distorted note to it that could make even the most resilient cower in fear. Its dex states it is also Dragon type on top on Fire/Flying. - M - Normal Type - Genderless - Currently ‘extinct’ these Kangaskhan were seen very briefly during prototype PCs, their is not much known, but their offspring have notes of other glitches in the system, going off with various birth defects with a large mortality rate. - ‘M (FF) - Fire/Flying - ??? - A hybrid Charizard that only can merge with M’Charizard, this somehow stabilizes a M’Charizard if put into an old Prototype PC together. All Stabilized ‘M (FF) Charizards live in a sanctuary. ---------OTHER EARLY GLITCH POKEMON-------- Q - Normal / Dragon - Male - A Nidoking with the ability to transform into a Mew, once it transforms it is never able to transform back. These Nidoking live in fear of that day and are solitary creatures, due to being unable to be caught after the transfer, they live in a Sanctuary in Alola, living out their best lives without that fear. - ?? - Normal / Psychic - Genderless - An extremely rare, but benign issue with transferring ?-Unown’s to another PC or to another trainer, All it seems to do is give another ? to the Unown’s appearance. - 3tPoke - Normal / Fairy - Female - An extremely powerful Clefairy from the prototype PC days, all records of how this one came into being have been corrupted by its very existence, it is said that its healing abilities have been pushed to its utter limits, and is currently in a Mega-Pokemon Center helping in case of emergencies. There is only one currently alive to dex knowledge. - Q > - Water / Psychic - ??? - This egg has been corrupted beyond imagination, it turns into a porygon-2 that dies on hatching, 100% mortality rate. Do not try to help it. - 4 4Hy - Water / Psychic - ??? - born from a similar bug in the system as Q >, but has seen much lower mortality rates as Q >, Ends up being a Slowbro with heightened Psychic abilities, do not approach, some say that these Slowbro evolve into monstrosities such as Q > or they end up evolving in Slowking immediately, this Slowking can cause anomalies through space itself with ease. - .g - Bug / Steel - ??? - A trade glitch that happens with any trade-evolution pokemon, it was only achieveable during the prototype trading processes, and would turn said pokemon into an oddly colored Spearow. - ゥ .4 - ??? - ??? - A anomalous beast upon anyone’s deepest fears and negative imaginations and intrusive thoughts. Said to be a spirit of an electric type pokemon, messing up all pokemon in a PC to turn them into ゥ .4 of their own, this is a Hivemind, call a trained professional if you come into contact with one. Can revive Q>, revealing its true form as a distorted garbled fusion of Seel and Rhydon. ------GEN.2 GLITCH INSPIRED POKEMON-------  ????? - Normal / Ghost or Normal / Dragon - Genderless - Two forms of this pokemon exist, but are garbled beyond recognition, one has a cry of a Gengar and the other, an Axew. They die upon hatching, not a single one has survived past hatching, but they have existed nonetheless. ------GEN.3 AND BEYOND------ óË (é Áî - Grass - Genderless - A grey Bulbasaur, All of its bulbs consistently crumble, and is in too much pain to allow it to even battle or let live. Scientists don’t have an answer for how something like this could happen. It is currently chalked up to an unknown birth-defect triggered by trading an egg via the PC. - ? - Depends - Depends - A glitch during prototype trades of a Treecko that could turn the pokemon into currently 25 different other species, from just another regular pokemon, all the way up to Mew, Deoxys and Celebi. It gains more speed stats than anything else. Outside of transforming itself into another pokemon this is completely benign.

So I've been wanting to do this for a while, this being going through the Dex in Masters and going over what Pokemon I think certain Trainers SHOULD have been given as their initial pair (or at least instead of certain Pokemon they DID end up getting). So, here we go:
MC and Litten: I mean, if you're gonna give us an unevolving base form Fire starter, then why wouldn't you give us Litten, when you know The Masked Royal is getting Incineroar either way, and May is ultimately gonna want Blaziken with Brendan getting Sceptile?!? Major ball dropped there, DeNA!
Leaf and Charmander-Charmeleon-Mega Charizard Y: Mostly because I'm baffled Bill still isn't in this game (Happy Eevee Day 2024, everybody!), but if nothing else this establishes her as an equal protagonist to Red, she can still get Venusaur for her Sygna Suit, and she's clearly getting Blastoise via Mix Scout! But then Red has to get a Blastoise alt somewhere... Meh. Give him Gigantamax Blastoise and just leave Honey with Venusaur when she comes.
Lyra and Marill: I'm sorry, she's CLEARLY the HGSS neighbor, yet to this day we have no sign of her Marill?!?!? Make it make sense, DeNA!
Kris and Meganium: With Lyra getting Marill, obviously Meganium goes to Kris.
Silver and Totodile-Croconaw-Feraligatr: He did end up getting it via Lodge, but if Lyra gets Marill like she's SUPPOSED TO, then there's no need for that nonsense!
Bugsy and Scyther: I mean, we DID get that pair for free in the end, but I don't see why Beedrill was the play when it didn't necessarily need to be.
Morty and Ho-oh: Not shiny Ho-oh, REGULAR Ho-oh! Gengar was off the table anyway, so why NOT give him the Ho-oh he'd been longing for?!
Pryce and Piloswine-Mamoswine: Inexcusable that he didn't have this from the word go!
Janine and Venomoth: Once again, WHY WASN'T HER CANON ACE HER BASE PAIR?!?
Eusine and Haunter: Could've played off of it being ridable in Let's Go, and thus Eusine's preferred transport.
May and Torchic-Combusken-Mega Blaziken: Once again, MC could've had Litten, which wouldn't actually CONFLICT with anything, and then her Anniversary alt with Latias becomes her Sygna Suit! And it's replaced by Elesa and Therian Thundurus, I dunno.
Glacia and Walrein: Once again, arbitrarily not giving a Trainer their ace WHY again?!?
Barry and Staraptor: So let me get this straight: you KNEW Infernape was off-limits to the protags because of Flint, and yet you give Barry Empoleon, leaving Dawn to settle for Torterra, which against all canon is STRONG to Torterra instead of weak to it?!?
Candice and Froslass: If your plan was to establish PLATINUM as the canon game, then it stands to reason you would give Candice her PLATINUM ace, does it not?!?
Volkner and Electivire: Same applies here!
Aaron and Drapion: So let me get this straight: Hala, a FIGHTING specialist, comes to the game as an ICE unit, yet Aaron can't get HIS ace off-type?!? DeNA, what are you smoking, and may I PLEASE have some?!?
Bertha and Hippowdon: She already came that way, I'm just pointing out that I'm cool with Bertha not getting Rhyperior given she dropped post-BDSP.
Flint and Magmortar: Flint ESPECIALLY needed his Platinum ace when you consider his Infernape inherently fucks everything for Lucas and Dawn!
Lucian and Bronzong: I have no idea what you give Thorton in this case. Maybe Porygon2? Forretress?
Marlon and Jellicent: Arbitrarily not giving certain Trainers their ace again!
Caitlin and Gothitelle: Here we go again with random Trainers not getting their ace! I guess it's the Pokemon Alder represents her with in the PWT, but by that logic, he uses Krookodile for Grimsley!
Calem and Froakie-Frogadier-Greninja: No issues with Espurr being his base, but then why is HIS Neo Champion Greninja shiny and not Serena's?!?
Viola and Meadow Pattern Vivillon: She could very easily have gotten Frosmoth during her Holiday event, rather than a randomly wrong pattern Vivillon!
Ramos and Gogoat: DeNA and not giving Trainers their aces, name a more iconic duo!
Olympia and Female Meowstic: This is a very disturbing trend, DeNA!
Siebold and Barbaracle: Here we go again with Trainers randomly not getting their ace!
Drasna and Noivern: This is an ESPECIALLY egregious case of a Trainer not getting their ace, since DRAGAGLE AND NOIVERN WERE BOTH IN THE GAME BEFORE DRASNA EVER WAS!!! There's no goddamn excuse for dropping this ball so hard!
Lillie and Solgaleo: Should've gotten the one from the Legendary Event. Or at least give that to Soliera...
Lusamine and Bewear: I know Lusamine has no true ace, but Bewear is the best parallel to her smothering affection for Lillie and Gladion, so I was SORELY disappointed when she came with Pheromosa.
Anabel and Guzzlord: I dunno, I really wanted her to get a Guzzlord. Come with a cute story about how she thought it would kill her, but it only inspected her for a bit before she decided to catch it. Maybe add some flavor text about its codename being Glutton, yet only eating when she feeds it and just, generally being a very good boi.
Anniversary Raihan and Regidrago: Really?! You REALLY can't be bothered to give him a Legendary like the other two Trainers in that event?!?
Wow... I did NOT realize just how many Trainers DeNA denied their actual aces! By my count, 16 if we don't count the Platinum aces! Obviously there were some I didn't count for reasons of dupes (Lt. Surge and Raichu), future appearances (Grimsley and Bisharp) or reasons of synergy between certain pairs (Clay and Excadrill), but some had next to no logic behind them and were baffling to me.

I had an interesting conversation with @petercoffin last night. Peter Coffin talks about how he initially got involved with the anti-GamerGate community, because his first interaction with pro-GG was an uninformed person asking him to condemn Zoe Quinn without receipts. [VIDEO]
Peter took a more anti-GamerGate stance. He soon found himself in an ecosystem that painted an increasingly one-sided view of the view. He knew the GamerGate supporters said the things that some people claimed about weren't true, but remained skeptical. He saw things through an us versus them mindset. Peter, who says he tried to remain pretty independent even within the anti-GG community over the several years he fought against GamerGate, began to realize more and more was wrong here. He saw people on his side defending srhbutts, he initially was suspicious of the allegations, but as he saw more, it began to trouble him deeply.
Peter says he tried to convince the others that it was true, but few listened. It was this incident, as well as other incidents like when he saw someone claiming that changing the stars to hearts on Twitter was a form of sexual harassment and the person was unhinged when he confronted them on it. He began to look into things more and boy, oh boy, let's see what he found. We also discuss the recent Sweet Baby Inc controversy, which he made a video about.
Yesterday's fiery, but mostly peaceful protest. How Peter contends with an anti-GamerGate person's arguments against GamerGate. The upcoming four-day ALT+F4 conference to investigate GG, hosted by LTU.
The recent Pokemon Go "uglification" & Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection controversies. Metal Gear Solid V and Quiet as a character. Was Hideo Kojima right about Quiet's critics being ashamed of their words and deeds?
Peter and I discuss what think of the people who made large claims against the entirety of GamerGate in what he sees now as having been an unjust way. How he and other people opposed to GamerGate were tricked into defending power.
If Peter will kick himself in the nuts again at the ALT F+4 conference with Steve Harvey presenting? Peter also shares his current definition of GamerGate, his thoughts on the gamer identity and the Gamers Are Dead Articles. Peter and I also begin to discuss the games journalism section of the GamerGate book interview... and a lot more. And this is just part one!

I do complain a lot about the many, MANY flaws Pokémon as a franchise has, especially given how they've treated fans these last few years in the name of Mach speed capitalism.
But despite all of that, I do still enjoy Pokémon. It's hard to let go of all the fun times I've had, and it's equally as hard to forgive the state of the games in terms of quality.
Still, below is more of a positive retrospective of my time with the series. I'd like to think that despite it all, and despite a soulless corporation running things now, I do have mostly positive memories here, even if it's hard to tell sometimes.
My first game was Snap on the n64 with my family, and I remember being the first among my older sister, mom, and dad (who to be fair struggles to comprehend a remote control these days) to actually beat it when I was... 5? I think.
My first main game was Silver on a blue Gameboy Color, and my first Pokémon was a Cyndaquil... that I released after a prank from my friends- but then my first REAL Pokémon was a Cyndaquil in Crystal that would carry me all the way to Red, level 90 something- and funnily enough, I'd just realize my best friend I'm the world at the age of 6 or 7 was... a girl, during the height of my Cooties Scare phase. Still, I miss that Typhlosion now. It's gone now due to the battery in the cartridge dying and the actual cartridge itself becoming damaged and eventually lost in a move. I wouldn't truly defeat that same gen 2 Red until the 3ds Era, in my college years on virtual console Silver, and I feel like the female Typhlosion I have from that is the same as I lost way back when.
My favorite Pokémon main game of all time, though, is Black and White 2. Gen 5 was an underdog gen, and I guess I strongly attached to it during my teens because I had a bit of an underdog complex- everyone hated it at the time for daring to not have gen 1 in the game at the time, and everyone hated me for- well, existing and being born "different" (read: neurodivergent, overweight, ugly, poor compared to my classmates, etc), so I guess I identified with it to some degree. It was the first gen I truly took an interest in for leak seasons, and to this day still has some of the best stories, characters, cities, and Pokémon designs. BW2 being my absolute favorite in terms of Pokémon variety and availability, team composition variety, difficulty, balance, and just the sheer amount of stuff to do- including the POKÉMON WORLD TOURNAMENT! Where you could battle all the past gym leaders and champions! It was also the gen I started to have fun and be open with classmates and multi-player, and I appreciate the friendships I forged from that.
Of course if BW2 is my favorite game, then it should be obvious Unova is my favorite region. Unova was the first non Japanese region in a main game, and for some reason- I guess Murica familiarity- I really saw it as home. BW2 especially with Aspertia City, Floccesy Town, and Floccesy Ranch really resembling where I was born and raised down south. Anvil Town too- despite being mostly empty- served as a wonderful setting to first ever completed fan fic I ever wrote. Humilau and Undella Bay are probably still my favorite towns sheerly for the colors, music, vibes, and events that happen there.
My favorite starters are- wouldn't you know it- the starter Trio from Legends Arceus, another favorite- albeit unpolished, but very fun game. I still think I prefer base Decidueye and Typhlosion, but Hisuian Samurott is my all time favorite starter in terms of design and inspiration. In fact, it was the first pokemon I actively set out to shiny breed for. I even let it learn Sacred Sword, because both normal and shiny forms look so badass with their swords and armor. Muramasa, my original from Legends Arceus, quickly evolved and came in clutch against MANY alpha Pokémon and delivered the final blows to Volo's team, Giratina, and Giratina's Alt form. Dojikiri, my shiny, had a bit of a rough start leading my Blueberry Academy team, but it became one of my go tos for beating the BBE4 and Champion Kieran.
Speaking of Shinies, my first ever shiny Pokémon outside of Red Gyarados was actually a shiny Loudred in Runy when I was 8 I think. It was pink and holding... I think a Pecha berry- I think at the time I thought it was a Pinkan Pokémon like from the Orange Islands, and I had caught it. Unfortunately, I didn't know just how rare this was and got tricked by a kid I thought was my friend into trading it to him, thinking it was bad. I never got it back.
But, I think fate made it up to me- my next shiny would be an Eevee I hatched from an egg in... I think Diamond or Platinum. That Eevee eventually became an Umbreon, and I still have it at level 100 all these years later. It's a subtle design change, but I sincerely think it's probably one of the best shinies ever.
And of course one of my absolute favorite Pokémon- despite coming from a base game I DESPISE for annoying characters and railroading- is Corviknight. Corviknight feels like an absolute love letter directed to me- sue me, I love edgy Pokémon, and I've been tired of pretending they're not cool as shit. I love that it's a gigantic raven you can fly on- ravens are my favorite birds, and one actually play a huge part in one of my original stories. My Corviknight in particular was probably my favorite to use in a champion fight, because despite hating Leon as a character, I loved the final fight between my Corviknight and his Charizard, giving me similar goose bumps I'd feel when pitting my weaker starter against my past rivals' stronger ones.
The best battle gimmick- even though I feel like we really don't need anymore- was far and away Mega Evolutions. The designs were amazing and gave a lot of old and forgotten Pokémon MUCH, MUCH needed refreshing coats of paint, with my absolute favorites being Mega Lucario, Mega Gengar, and Mega Charizard X. I know it's devisive among fans, but really my favorite thing about Pokémon is evolving and changing my Pokémon to become even stronger than before, and although XY was piss your pants easy, I still adore the concept of the power of friendship allowing your Pokémon to EXCEED their limits. It's a shame GF hates it while even the anime and other Spinoff games STILL use it, because there was a ton of potential there and a ton of really great designs lost for... no real good reason, tbh.
My favorite spinoff I think is Colosseum- hence why I keep begging for Colo3. I had the game as a kid, but I never truly beat it until AFTER SwSh really made me question if I was still a fan- spoilers, I was and am, SwSh, GF, and TPC just severely burned me and I needed something refreshing to light my fire again. My favorite thing about Colosseum is that it just takes the already existing battle mechanics and cranks it up by turning every battle into doubles that forces you to think strategically- also, I just really admire it for not treating the player like a kid. The premise is awesome- you're a rebellious anti hero that just defected from an evil team and stole a device to let you steal pokemon, so you use that as a force of good to take back and heal the poor, abused Shadow Pokémon and teach them to love again. Plus, I love having Umbreon and Espeon as starters and how Orre allowed Johto pokemon to actually shine and exist outside of Kanto's shadow. Fun, unique, challenging- I would KILL for another side game as daring as this to exist again.
I have a bit of a bias towards the battling games- I did enjoy PMD Explorers, Ranger, Pinball, etc, but I think I've just always loved how custom each playthrough of a standard pokemon game felt. No matter how many times I replay, I can usually come up with a team of Pokémon I've never used before- I still keep almost all the Pokémon and teams I've had since... I'd say, I was 10, since Ruby or so. I try to keep them grouped, too, so I can go back and see my team I used in Leaf Green, Black 2 run 1, run 1 of Ultra Sun, etc, and lately I even have space reserved for teams used in DLC. Sort of my own "Oak's Lab" situation, except there's a lot of Samurott swimming around.
I like the gameplay so much that it even got me into fan games like Uranium, Xenoverse, Opalo, Realidea System, Bushido, and I'm keeping track of a bunch more on the horizon. My love for it even brought me to really fun clones like Nexomon Extinction and Coromon- I just love catching and raising monsters, man, and I love turn based games.
I think if I would have an IRL team based on where I grew up and loosely using the games as a basis, I'd have Johtonian Typhlosion as my starter, Corviknight for the crows and other corvids, Tauros for the cows, Mudsdale for the horses, probably a Poliwrath for a water type cuz frogs are everywhere or possibly a Blastoise a family member would hand down, and of course a shiny Umbreon- I have it in the games, and I've always had dogs in my life, so its close enough.
If I had a team solely for battling currently, probably my Shiny Hisuian Samurott, my tera Stellar Ceruledge, Electivire, Dusk Lycanroc, mega Scizor, and Hydreigon.
Anyway, this was just a neat retrospective. Like I said, I do still have a deep love for Pokémon, as much as I wish I could cut ties with it sometimes (and I'm sure as much as my friends wish I'd shut up about it, I'm sure). When I express negativity toward it, it's not from the same place as those guys that think Pokémon should have stopped after gen 1- definitely not, fuck Kanto at this point. No, it's from a place that knows it can do AND HAS done so much better. I'm definitely not afraid of it ending, they're too rich and make too much for that- no, I'm afraid of them never putting in quality care that the franchise DESPERATELY needs ever again simply because they know they could literally sell incomplete builds and people will buy them, and simply because twitter hive minds will jump anyone that take any slight criticism of the World's Richest Franchise (for close to a decade) as a personal affliction upon their honor and religion.
But like I said, I still enjoy it. Happy 28th Pokémon. Please be kinder to us fans. I have so many wonderful memories that I hate have become tainted by bugs and awful business practices, and I want to feel happy to be a fan again.

Stuff
I got the Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet a few days ago, and have since beaten it and completed the Kitakami Dex. It's very fun, like the base game. Ogerpon is cute as heck. For fun, whenever I couldn't remember the Kitakami region's name I'd call it things like the Kitagawa region, the Kawakami region or the Izanagi-no-Okami region.
I do often have Persona on the brain, why do you ask?
...which segues into Persona 5 Strikers being my next playthrough now that the Teal Mask is done.
In FEH, a Fates unit getting both an alt and a resplendent before Soleil gets anything despite Soleil outscoring them in every CYL event is a recurring theme this year - Shigure's the newest addition to that club. Being a Soleil fan is quite despressing, which is ironic given Soleil is all about positivity.
On a better FEH-related note, they announced the upcoming refines a lot earlier than usual. For me in particular I'm looking forward to Spring Fir's refine - I got her from a Hall of Forms event semi-recently and her damage output felt slightly underwhelming. I always liked the fact that she has armor-effectiveness, so I'm looking forward to her refine as I said. She won't be on my main team but she's a contender for Arena Assault, Limited battles for FE6 characters and Resonant battles with a bonus for FE6 characters.
