I looked and couldn't find if you have an art post of your vergil header for this blog,
But I know it's you because of the style so; <3<3<3!!! AHHH IT LOOKS SO GOOD WELL DONE IT'S SO PRETTY
Ah, you are too kind!!!! Made me smile like a kid during Christmas with your ask, thank you so much T----T
I haven't made a post on this blog I think, and I don't remember if I had posted that one yet. Anyway, gonna post here now hahaha
Though for the header one, I chose a version with a sort of "red" background 'cause I was too lazy to change the other colors of the blog to go with a full blue one. I'm kinda flattered you recognized it's mine, I don't think thaaat much of my style hahaha
(Also, currently have been posting on my art blog, @polariscroquis so maybe more stuff can appear there ^^)
This is the header one! Under the cut, a version with blood, which is the "final" version:
A fun fact, the reddish background is just the pattern of the blood, I copied, pasted it behind him and mirrored it so it kinda looks like this wood pattern/abstract pattern. The "final" one is blue and above his head is written "forgive me mother for I have sinned". I'm a drama queen
I still don't really like my rendering though. Been working like a farm horse to improve it currently and still feels like something could be better hahaha
Also, this one is from around a year ago, I improved a little bit - plus I don't work with Photoshop anymore
I'm currently at a place with little to no internet (travelling to the mountains on the countryside, it happens), but I happened to have those on my phone and I'm taking some of my internet time to answer!
Thank you so much once again, it makes me happy when someone likes my art! I hope you enjoy the full version of the header ^^

hey girl i need to know your thoughts on the new black butler chapter shdhdjjd what are your theories? i have one myself but i wont say in case you still havent read it in the moment you see this
🫶🫶🫶
Spoilers.
I've seen a lot of people assume this is the Polaris face reveal, but I think it's a new character.

The only similarity with Polaris is the hood, which has a design unlike the ones we've seen Undertaker's minions wear, and the nose and lips, which are the default manga features Toboso draws for all of her conventionally attractive (i.e. without distinct/unique features), relatively young adult characters.

Polaris doesn't have the neck tattoo (assuming that's not a high collar with a design), long canines, light-colored eyes (although Toboso does sometimes color darker eyes white to show emotion), or the same chin.

They do both wear gloves, but the new character could be hiding anything under there (demon nails, more tattoos, a contract mark).
I've also seen people assuming the gender of this individual, and while I immediately thought they looked more like how Toboso draws her more masculine women, I don't think we can conclusively say whether they're a man or woman at this point. I also can't think of a hypothesis as to their identity that would be affected by what gender they are.
My immediate thought when I saw the teeth was "demon." However, we've seen humans with unique teeth (Joker and Snake), so it might just be a human. And I feel like with this level of emotion, a demon's pupils would have gone slitted. They also address Sebastian as 'demon,' which I feel would sound strange coming from another demon (unless that's how demons address eachother? Maybe they don't have names or keep them to themselves).
The infusion stand is clearly there to make us think this is a bizarre doll, but the dolls usually have black veins standing out when they need blood. This person is pale, sweaty, and has bulging veins, but the veins aren't black.
If this person is a bizarre doll, perhaps they are one of Sebastion's previous contractors. I've seen people on Twitter speculating that Undertaker revived this person in order to somehow break the contract between Ciel and Sebastian.
If it's not a contractor, the only other reason I can think of for Undertaker to revive someone from Sebastian's past would be if it would throw him off emotionally. However, from the way Sebastian acts about humans, I was under the impression that he hadn't gotten emotionally involved with humans or been around any particular ones very long in the past.
This could also not be a bizarre doll and the transfusion is a regular transfusion, like the rich benefactors were receiving.
Unrelated, but I think this confirms something that's been in my thoughts for a while: Sebastian either can't choose his appearance as a human or has a default appearance that he didn't modify when he was summoned. I thought it might be possible because when he offered to change his appearance in the beginning, he only changed his clothes, and when Francis insulted his face, he implied it was a permanent feature.
This new character seems to know him pre-contract and recognized him by sight. Unless someone told them what Sebastian looks like now and who he is traveling with, this would imply his appearance isn't changed every contract.
Other things in the chapter that stood out to me:
"I suppose you'd prefer to be called 'mister' to 'earl' at the present." Barnabus says this after calling him "Earl Ciel Phantomhive." The straightforward explanation of this line is that Barnabus is saying this because o!Ciel isn't actually the earl anymore, but he's also not actually Ciel anymore, either. Why didn't he mention that, too?
Barnabus emphasizes a lot of words. Hotel staff are "experts" at provided "services" specialized to their guests (bizarre dolls?). "Guests of any kind are welcome here." Is he mocking them because he knows they're investigating the blood business? Mocking would also explain him emphasizing their "arduous, lengthy" journey (because they're on the run). Less likely, but I believe still possible, is that he thinks o!Ciel is r!Ciel.
I wonder who will smash that giant skylight.
What is the significance of Hall (the bellboy) looking at Ciel's shiny shoes and cane? Wondering where he got the funds for new accessories while on the run?
"Servants will be relieved of their duties." Feels like foreshadowing.
What's up with this guy's left hand?

+ Polaris and Nightcrawler consider their adoptive family and the X-Men as their closest family
+ Both have a weird hair color (Blue vs Green)
+ Both have more half siblings on their father's side
+ Both have mostly interacted with 2 sisters and one brother of theirs (Rogue, Jimaine and Stefan Vs Zala Dane, Wanda and Pietro)
+ Both have never been bad guys while their siblings started out bad and got redeemed or stayed bad
+ Both found out who they were related to as adults
+ Both have exactly 2 siblings that are Romani
+ Both get character assassinated when Claremont pushes the shipping angle for their character and messes up their parentage

tell me abt ur ocs
:DDDDD
i'll be overjoyed to:
I'll. Stick to just one cast of ocs from one single wip or else we gonna stay in here all week. ;)
(this got a bit long. cws for fantasy eugenics and conditioning under the cut)
♤ Polaris!
Living weapon/child soldier <3 The first one I ever created, actually. One of my oldest ocs in general. I used to daydream ab him in bed as a kid.
He lives in a world where everything and everywhere is taken by war. It's the grand thing of the story; there are multiple human-like races, very similar between each other, and somewhere over the course of history they started fighting over the right calling themselves the 'true and only humans'. Each one wants to dehumanize the others and come out on top of the war. This has been going on for a while.
Polaris is born and raised amidst all of this. He is a lab baby (i ❤️ lab babies who were "made for this") and was genetically engineered to have the 'best' (arbitratrily decided) characteristics of each race, in order to be a human weapon for the nation he was created in. As such, by their standarts, he is not Human like them; he's an hybrid. A "mulatto". Subhuman. He was raised with these ideas shoved in his head, growing determination to fight for the True, Worthy Humans ("its a privilege to do so! he is immensely grateful of being allowed to") and end this war on their side, to bring the others, worthless beings like him, down.
He was trained to be a soldier and a killer from the start, but he hates killing. Human or "not-human", it drives him up the walls when he tries to sleep. Polaris has been carved and primed to perfection, sure, but he deeply despises it. But it doesn't matter, he thinks. It doesn't matter, because he is not even human. He was given the privilege of fighting for the true cause, of stopping all the killing and dying. the sooner the humans win, the sonner he can stop killing. god, he just wants to stop please let him stop of helping end the war! And that's all he truly wants, at the end of the day.
Part of his arc is focused on overcoming his conditioning and his self-hatred, working with the other protagonists to end this mindless eugenics war :) He is also blond, because I love blond characters. I've considered making him black with a nice fade undercut, which i'm still over the fence about, but for now he is blond.
♤ Miriam :)))))
She is of a different 'race' than the one Polaris "serves". She is from a military academy, training to serve her nation in the war; and she is good. Miriam is a star student at Solaria, the best academy in the Amirah country. She is similar to Polaris, in a way. Also brainwashed by the eugenics kool-aid, believing she is doing the right thing by fighting in the war.
She is, at the start of the story, what you could call a... "benevolent racist". Miriam wants the war to end. And for it to end by their hands, the Humans (TM), because the other races would turn the world into havoc if they won. But them? No, they would be good. They would rule above with a kind hand. They would provide all the races everything they needed and lead them into an era of peace and prosperity; if any other people won, they would enslave or kill the remaining, but them, being humans, would not. They deserve to be at the top, and when they do, all will end well amd nobody will have to be hurt.
THANKFULLY her arc is also around overcoming that view 😭😭 Miriam is really nice and kind. She really believes in that tho. She also has red hairrr. And when I said she was a star soldier I wasnt kidding.
♤ Zaire
The star! The protagonist! He is actually the only one from the main trhee who doesn't buy the eugenics.
Why?
Why, he was raised outside of it all.
Zaire's homecountry, Itarja, is (was) a little isolated island where people could live without divisions of "humans" and "nonhumans". A safe haven amongst the war. Most people are "mixed", like Polaris.
One day, a certain nation invades and "purges" them.
Zaire (whose nickname is Zai, also hes transmasc! yippieee) is one of the few dozens who manage to flee to a neighbourhooring country (Amirah!!! Miriam's!!!) who accepts to welcome them as quasi-citizens if they can serve. Zai is put with some others into the military, because he has a bit of the genes of the people in Amirah. He meets Miriam there, who protects him from more cruel bullies (she does see him as a friend and worthy of respect, because she isn't as radical in her eugenic beliefs as most the others, because Miriam is a very compassionate and passionate person st heart) and their first contact is mostly focused on changing the other one's views.
Zaire has white hair (i LOVE white hair. along with pink, black and blond its my fav hair color EVER) and i associate him with the color lilac. He is soft, although a bit harsh around the edges since he is not very good at dealing with emotions, and being shoved into this war out of a sudden is very painful to him. He looks like a pessimist, but he is also very passionate and wants to end this war as soon as he can. In a way, his, Miriam's and Polaris's goals, although their motivations vastly differ, are mostly the same
♤ Honorable mention: Aalyah
Aalyah is Miriam's younger brother!! :DDDD He is younger my maybe two years or three, and he looks up to her a lot. When Miriam goes "missing" and is assumed dead in field, he is devastated. This leads to his revenge arc, where Aalyah starts to grow a never-ending hate for the Non-Humans (filthy, cruel, undeserving) and joins the military as well, following Miriam's footsteps, becoming one of the most brilliant agents of his time, all to avenge her and honor her memory in the only way he thinks is worth it:
Corruption arc :))))
Needless to say, he gets a blast when they finally meet again
Ty sm for the ask!!!! I love talking about them :)
If you ever want to check them, I have picrews for Zai and Miriam, and a few drabbles with Polaris (here/and here/also here, trigger warnings listed at the top)
(Also fun fact: for the reasons mentioned above, the name of the story is twotht: "the war of the human throne")
#twotht wip#miriam oc#polaris oc#aalyah oc#zaire oc#anon#asks#oc rambles#tysmmmmmmmm i always love talking ab them#i was feeling very philosophical the day i came up with the wips premise;#i was dazing off and thinking along the lines of What Does It Mean To Be Human#and then i asked myself “what if nobody KNEW the answer to that”#and boom#im very fond of this story

YELLS AT YOU TELL ME THE LORE
JESUS CHRIST HI ASTRO /SILLY
OKAY OKAY SO. ive mentioned this in towering paradise ithink so ill do my best to make it concise HJHAJEHJAHJA - Guardians in Equilibrium are unique in a few ways (more resistant to corruption, stronger, some have abilities depending on the island they live on) but an INCREDIBLY important one to note is that all guardians, regardless of location, double as a ‘seed’ of sorts. At any moment, if the Island’s Tree should fail, then it will rely on the healthiest Guardian as a ‘willing’ sacrifice to become the next Tree. Now this has its reasons for existing; corruption in the AU is a constant threat, constantly destroying and invalidating trees across the world. HOWEVER; this has its drawbacks as well. More often than not, this ‘seed’ mechanism will activate on accident due to excessive divine energy. This can be because of Pure Corruption, which I’ve mentioned in TP but not on Tumblr for spoiler reasons, or simply due to an extreme overstress of powers (Although that’s more likely to kill a shape, as opposed to activating the mechanism.) And once it activates, it can be slowed but not stopped :< leading to Guardians often losing their lives, becoming Trees. (This isn’t to be confused with Plants however; who naturally turn into actual plants at the end of their life cycle <3) On the bright side, if you think bout it this means that an island with multiple tree’s is extra safe :3 Anyways; on to Tessie/New Sanctuary specifically :> New Sanctuary is a unique case; for generations its Guardians, a lineage named Musique, have a habit of going insane due to an unknown reason and becoming trees. It’s gotten to the point where those Trees have created their own grove, outside of the capitol. Tessie’s mother, Polaris, unfortunately was one of the previous Guardians who became a Tree :( Tessie, Odile, and Fozel are the latest three Guardians; three cousins tasked with protecting their island, and hopefully solving a generations-long quest: what the actual fuck is killing all the guardians oh, and none of those three know HOW to be a guardian since nobody before them has been able to stick around to teach them. — fun extra thing if anyone’s read this far (/silly) New Sanctuary and its inhabitants is based off the games Super Hexagon and Open Hexagon! Polaris is based on the level Bipolarity Tessie, Odile, and Fozel are based on Courtesy, Otis, and Focus and once i actually GET to playing open hexagon (sighs agressively at its joystick controls being fucked) therell be more worldbuilding to it :3 @hermitcrabcross obligatory hexagon content ping /silly

How do the members of the Polaris group respond to snow? Have they all even seen snow before? (this is either w writing prompt or info dump prompt, whichever you prefer! <3)
Hey I really appreciate that you sent this outside of any ask game, just for fun! :)
I tend to stick to writing the Polaris characters on stations and ships a lot more than planets, so this is actually a great question that I haven't thought about before. Most of them have probably been down on Preservation's surface at least once, but we don't know that much about the climate in the inhabited areas.
Niri has probably spent the most time on Preservation (although still not like, years) and has also gone on all kinds of contracts while undercover, which probably includes some planetary exploration missions like the ones we see Murderbot on in ASR. It has probably seen snow before. I think it would like it, especially the pretty kind of snow. If it was free to do so, and with friends, I can see it enjoying a friendly snowball fight! Aybee, if they were there, would absolutely join in.
OldUnit...is really old, so it's possible, but I think it also mostly gets sent to guard mining and construction projects, which people tend to avoid doing in places with a lot of snow. But still, in 40+ years it's probably been sent at least once to a planetary surface with snow. That was probably before at least one memory wipe, though. If it encounters snow again, it would be part new and strange experience, part deja-vu.
Hope's done a lot of traveling, but I think xe really appreciates and values comfort. So xe probably prefers to experience snow as a pretty view out the window, while xe is cozy and warm inside.
Enigma...is probably a little wary of entering gravity wells without a way to leave that it's 100% in control of. Stations just have more escape routes. But I don't have a clear idea of what the planet where it spent 7+ years on contract looks like, and an icy, frigid landscape does sound compellingly horrible--I'll have to think about that! So it probably either has never seen snow, or actively hates it.
(Bonus: Yuma and Crowbar both spent most of their lives on airless asteroids/planets, with artificial atmosphere under domes that aren't big enough to have real weather. I think they'd both be very excited about the experiences you can have in an actual atmosphere, including snow!)
#stars answers#stars OCs#polaris ocs#this was a very fun infodump thank you again for the question :)#i've been mulling over it for a few days because i really do not put my characters on planets very often#but it's definitely sparking ideas! seriously considering setting Enigma's terrible backstory on an ice planet now#edited 1/3/25 to fix aybee's pronouns

Hi I saw that you’re a big Lorna Dane fan and that you’ve read a lot of her comics. Do you have a recommended reading list for her?
Hey there! 💚🧲 Thanks for the ask!
I use Travis Starnes’ reading order for my Polaris-athon (https://cmro.travis-starnes.com/character_details.php?character=426) but if you’re just wanting to get into her stories it’s way too much tbh. She has a lot of appearances and it can be difficult to sort through the meaningful ones and the ones where she’s just on the page as a recognizable cameo.
I haven’t managed to read all of her appearances yet - I’ve gotten up to the early 90s, and I’ve read most of her appearances from, like, 2016 onwards. I’m a little behind on Fall of X as well. So there likely are going to be some gaps here, but this would be my recommended reading list for Polaris 🧲 :
Krakoan Age (2019-)
this is the golden age for Polaris in my opinion, and where I’d honestly recommend you start reading!
Leah Williams’ X-Factor: This is where the modern revitalization of Polaris into the It Girl of Krakoa really begins. There is controversy surrounding the final issue of the series due to Prodigy's storyline (see here, here, and here for more info), but overall I really love this run. It’s very queer and does a great job of taking Polaris’ spotty characterization and having her begin a journey of self discovery.
Gerry Duggan’s X-Men: Gerry follows up on Leah’s work here and Polaris really starts to shine. Issue #5 is a standout and a personal favorite, if you only read one issue, it should be this one. She’s in vol. 1 as a main member of the team, and the spin offs from this period (Devil’s Reign X-Men and Death of Doctor Strange: X-Men/Black Knight) are really fun. Plus, Pepe Larraz’s redesign of her for this book is STUNNING.
Alex Segura's 'Control' arc in X-Men Unlimited (#96-99) : this is exclusive to the Marvel Unlimited app, but it’s really great. Lorna’s a cameo queen after leaving Gerry’s book, so it’s a nice centering of her and revisits some of her greatest villains.
Steve Orlando’s Scarlet Witch: Issue #3 is a must read in my opinion, particularly if you’re interested in Lorna’s relationship with her family (it builds off of Williams’ Trial of Magneto, which I love and establishes her PhD, but ultimately I think you can probably skip, it’s more of a Wanda focus).

The Lost Era (2010s)
This is the time period following the Decimation, where a lot of stories... tread water, tbh! Nothing here is essential reading for Polaris.
Lorna spends a lot of this era in the hands of Peter David, who is a vile scum sack of a person (see here for an example). I've read All New X-Factor (2014), where he characterizes her as someone who is completely unhinged and a danger to animals. It's not a fun time tbh. And again, it's Peter David - so I would skip this. You aren't missing much.
Cullen Bunn's X-Men Blue (2017): I've only read the first arc of this run, but it focuses on the time-displaced O5 X-Men (Jean, Warren, Scott, Bobby, Hank). Magneto is mentoring them, so Polaris steps in to keep him from making them too ~evil~. I haven't heard anything good or bad about her appearances in this book, so I can't really recommend one way or another. It's probably safe to skip.
Ed Brisson's Uncanny X-Men (2018): Again, I haven't read this one yet! It's the lead up to the Age of X-Man event, where she also appears. Similarly to X-Men Blue, I haven't really heard anything good or bad about this one. You can skip it if you'd like, it's right before Krakoa pops off which is a soft reboot from the entire franchise.
Decimation Era (2000s)
John Byrne's X-Men the Hidden Years: I haven't read this either yet, but I know some people really like it. It fleshes out a lot of the Silver Age stuff, and it's where Polaris uses the codename Magnetrix (where I got my blog name from lol).
Apocalypse: the Twelve: I have not read this. I have heard only bad things about it lmao. Polaris and Magneto are part of a prophecy about defeating Apocalypse, but it doesn't turn out the way they expect. Skip.
Grant Morrison's New X-Men #132: A transformative issue for Polaris and a HUGE milestone in her character. It deals with the Genoshan genocide, of which Polaris was one of the few survivors. Highly recommend.
Chuck Austen's Uncanny X-Men: So this run is very ~your mileage may vary~ - I haven't read it yet myself. BUT from what I know, Austen really builds on Morrison's trauma that they gave to Lorna, and really takes her away from the assimilationist characterization Peter David gave her. Plus, it has the iconic Magneto wedding dress panel (Uncanny X-Men (1981) #426)
House of M (2005): she's in it, she doesn't really do much! Skip.
Peter Milligan's X-Men: Polaris becomes Pestilence, the horseman of Apocalypse in the Blood of Apocalypse arc beginning in X-Men (1991) #181. I haven't read it, but tbh most Apocalypse storylines between the original X-Factor arc and the Krakoan age are bad, so it's probably safe to skip.
After her spin as Pestilence, Lorna goes to space and joins the Starjammers. I haven't read this yet either, but it seems like fun! Relevant titles would be Uncanny X-Men (1981) Rise and Fall of the Shi'Ar Empire (#475-486), X-Men: Emperor Vulcan #1-5 (2007), and then the War of Kings (2009) event.
1990s
Skip this entire era. She's basically just in Peter David's original run on X-Factor (1986). The artwork is pretty, but the writing comes off as very male gaze-y to me and her character arc is somewhat repetitive.
X-Factor (1986) #186 (eXaminations) is famous for being an in-depth character study of the entire team. It's where we first see Lorna's eating disorder pop up. It's well done, just, well - fuck the writer lol.
Claremont Run (1975-1980s)
Lorna's storyline is overall a little confusing and hard to follow in the Claremont era, mostly because she is a) mind-controlled for most of it and b) not the main plot. So she ends up appearing in random issues, sometimes gone for huge lengths at a time, and then reappears. It's really clear that Chris was interested in working with this character and had some great ideas for her, but she was never one of his main blorbos.
These are the issues you should check out:
Giant Size X-Men (1975): Claremont didn't write this, Len Wein did, but this is really the start of the Claremont run. It has some cool moments for Polaris, including an early example of a mutant circuit between her and Storm!
X-Men (1963) #97: Lorna and Havok are mind-controlled by Erik the Red (don't worry about it) to fight the X-Men.
X-Men (1963) #125-129: the Proteus arc, Lorna is on Muir island with Havok and helps out. Nothing super critical happens, she just sorta vibes (and enjoys not being mind controlled).
Uncanny X-Men (1981) #145-146: Arcade has kidnapped loved ones of the X-Men, tbh I would recommend reading this just for Polaris' outfit. It's this witchy purple thing that is INCREDIBLE.
Uncanny X-Men (1981) #218-219, 221-222, 239-241, 243, X-Factor (1986) #39: Polaris is possessed by Malice, so now she's fighting against the X-Men... and working for Sinister! It's not technically her, but it's iconic and is a prime example of a running motif of possession for her.
Uncanny X-Men (1981) #249-250: ZALADANE! An iconic retcon, we meet Lorna's long lost sister (again).
Uncanny X-Men (1981) #253-255, 257-258, 269, X-Factor (1986) #69, Uncanny X-Men (1981) #280, X-Factor (1986) #70: Big!Lorna and the Muir Island saga. It's very weird! But I love big!Lorna and her muscles, so we stan. This is also the very weird end of Chris Claremont's main run on the X-Men, where it's very clear the plots got messed with in the wrap-up.
After this, Peter David takes over X-Factor, and he's garbage!
The Silver Age (1960s)
So this is Lorna's debut era, she's an OG member of the X-Men! Unfortunately even here, they never quite know what to do with her. She's very much intended to function as Bobby's love interest, which... doesn't really work out lmao. But I do think this era is fun to read, especially knowing what retcons they're going to build out later on for her, particularly with regards to Magneto.
She's not in too many issues:
Arnold Drake's X-Men (1963) #49-52: Lorna's first appearance! It's super fun, definitely check it out.
Linda Fite's X-Men (1963) #57: Lorna fights a sentinel!
Roy Thomas's X-Men (1963) #58-62: Some more fun moments - Kazar/Sauron arc, and the first appearance of Havok!
Dennis O'Neil's X-Men (1963) #65-66: The Z'nox invasion, Lorna has some cool moments here. Still no codename tho lol.
I'll try to update this as I fill in my gaps, but happy reading!! 🧲💚

Polaris 💧
💧- What is this oc most passionate about?
For Polaris, is their passion what gave them the tittle of MEMORY of Dreams. They mastered their power to be able to see dreams, to reproduce them as illusions in real life, and, besides this, they also do the occasional "dream reading" to mortals who seek their guidance.

Are you into MBTI? If yes, may I ask for your idea on DMC characters types? If no then feel free to skip this ask, sorry for bothering you.
First things first, my beloved: DON’T APOLOGIZE. None of you are EVER bothering me by sending an ask – unless, of course, you’re completely crass, deranged, borderline criminal (or full criminal) with your words or just gratuitously rude. Those types are bothersome and will get blocked and ignored.
Unless I’m on an Axl Rose like rampage and want to burn and fistfight people along my way, then I’ll use the stupid being in question to pour all my anger and have a good reason to spend hours in therapy :)
But you are NOT one of those, my dear. That’s a very fun question and do feel free to ask me random things like that, I enjoy answering!
Now, I’m not really big on MBTI – I know enough about mine and my family’s so I can make things work between me and them. I also like to know my friends MBTI’s because the memes are usually freakishly accurate with all our personalities xD
I am an INTP! Quite proud, if I might say so hahahaha I like the weird vibes and I have adopted in my heart Sherlock Holmes as an INTP ‘cause he was my role model when I was a teen (I know, HORRIBLE role model, but it is what it is) – and that’s how I got into MBTI.
(more under the cut, this answer is LONG)
Big introduction for me to say: VERGIL, THIS LITTLE SHIT. INTJ. I DON’T EVEN HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT.
I’ll start with him and then Dante. I won’t share my 2 cents on the rest of the crew because either they aren’t that much developed as the twins or I’m not really trusting my MBTI judging abilities here.
Without further ado…
Vergil
I debated quite a WHILE on Vergil, to be honest, because we all know INTJ is the typical villain archetype used everywhere on media because heaven forbid a villain is not calculating and devoided of emotions.
And there’s where I got a little stuck: emotions.
Vergil does have emotions, and I dare to say his run even deeper than Dante’s, so I got a little sidetracked. But then I took my own personality, INTP, and thought about it for a while. I have the same problem as Vergil: my emotions do run deep and I’m always guarding them in a dark, secret place inside of me so I won’t get hurt, opting for a more thinking, analytical and practical approach rather than the feeling approach. And oh boy does my life get difficult with feeling types like my aunt, my mom and even my sister.
I got to the conclusion, then, it’s not how you feel, but rather how you present yourself. I took the test as if I was Dante (I needed that to figure him out, not sorry) and a lot of questions are more leaning on that. It’s not that you don’t feel or don’t understand feelings, it’s more like you have a different approach when doing things and processing all of that – because it can be quite overwhelming.
So, there we go, Vergil is BLATANTLY Introverted and Thinking. The Introverted I got from what I heard some people saying that it’s not that “oh I like talking to people/I don’t like talking to people”, it’s energy: at the end of the day, do you prefer being alone to recharge or around people to recharge?
Me and my sister are opposites on that. My sister was always quieter and shy when she was a kid, and I was expansive and always came back with a new friend. Lo and behold, I’m an Introvert and she is an Extrovert. How? I HAVE and I NEED time alone, completely for myself, with NO ONE around at certain times of the day and I do get AWFULLY tired when I’m being social for too long, needing some me time with tea and a good book. My sister NEEDS to be around her friends after a long, tiring week at work, famously going to 3 parties in a row, in 3 different days, different groups, outfits and all, exiting one party to go to the other, and then BAM going to work on a Monday completely replenished. I’m an Introvert. She is an Extrovert.
Dante and Vergil seal of approval here hahahahaha
His Intuitive part, though, comes from the art – poetry, philosophy, reading, education. Vergil is obviously BIG on that, loving poetry since he was a child and always being found in libraries, we can all picture him going to art galleries, concerts, operas and such. But, particularly, I extend that to his thirst for knowledge: everyone who enjoys reading the dense stuff he does, tends to fall for philosophy, sociology, the metaphysical part of physics, mathematics, all that. There was a reason why great mathematicians of the past were also philosophers: knowledge walks together.
Loving that deeply, Vergil has to be quite Intuitive. Yes, he will do things with discipline and how they should be done to achieve the result – but he will rebel and do things his own way if the knowledge he acquired so far points him to another direction; he will follow his intuition. He’s not one to dismiss the big questions in life: quite the contrary, I think one of his favorite past-times would be drinking wine along his s/o while talking about philosophy into the wee hours of the night as if they are the only people in the world.
Vergil is an open minded, curious and always searching for the meaning of things kind of person, and I will die on this hill. There is no way a guy who likes learning so much would be against challenging his own point of views: to learn, you have to first be a novice; and to improve, you have to admit there’s much you still don’t know and keep an open mind to fail and do it again, and again, and again, until you master what you are learning. Just the way he fights tells me he is very much like that and I’m still dying on this hill.
And lastly, Judging. No, not because he’s the judgy bitch of the series who’s always side-eying someone and sighing while saying “pathetic” just because they got scared by their own shadow. I have to say I wasn’t too sure on this one when I realized Vergil could end up as an INTP and that bitch can’t be an INTP like me, I claimed it.
Jokes aside, Vergil can be quite Perceiving at times, because, wanting or not, he has had his moments of needing to improvise and spot opportunities that weren’t quite on his schedule… But, I do have to admit, INTPs are a mess and Vergil is FAR from being a mess – and when I say a mess, we are everywhere: reading 5 books at the same time, leaving them scattered all around the house, laying upside down in bed to think and come up with a great idea for something… INTPs aren’t pragmatic or schedule oriented. And Vergil would DIE in an environment like this, I think.
So, my conclusion was: his ability to survive does come from his Perceiving characteristics, but his pragmaticism comes from his Judging – and the second is a lot stronger in him. He would like the schedule, he would do things as he has programmed and, if you interrupt him, he’s counting the minutes to go back to his schedule or else everything he has carefully programmed for the week will be delayed and his plans are all but GONE (read: Verge at the Temen-ni-gru screaming “WHY ISN’T THIS WORKING?!” when ALL the plans he carefully executed for WEEKS so he could get to THAT moment and open the gates of Hell just went down the drain ‘cause he missed something in his calculations. Man is in excruciating pain he missed something and ALL was for NOTHING and he’d have to TRY again).
Verdict: Vergil is an INTJ. Expected, annoyingly villainous personality, but it does fit him wonderfully.
Plus, we are the 'we don't have feelings' types :D
Dante
Oh, Dante. My beloved. My red devil. The man who haunts my dreams.
Seriously, I had a REALLY hard time pinpointing his MBTI.
Remember I said I took the test as him? Yes. I did. To check some things and argue against others hahahahaa
I don’t think Dante is as black and white as Vergil. The blue devil is almost textbook INTJ, but Dante…? I have my doubts on SO many parts of his personality, because, unlike Vergil, Dante does a LOT just for show.
Starting with the Extroverted/Introverted. Most people won’t even think before saying Dante is an Extrovert, but I had my doubts when taking things in consideration. What we usually see is that, yes, he does love being around people – but Dante spends most of his time alone, without electricity, reading his old magazines at his shop, sleeping or eating pizza by himself.
Depression? Yes. YES. This man is more depressed than the San Andreas Fault. This can make people behave differently from their personalities, so I had to think a little more about it. Dante doesn’t really go out of his way to be around people, to party with his friends or just have a nice time with them around. Dante wants to be alone, because he thinks he doesn’t deserve to be with people – and that they are better off without him, safer. He puts them in danger, at least that’s what’s on his mind. So, he isolates himself and prefers to spend time on his own, away from everything and everyone.
That’s where the energy thing comes into play! What gives Dante energy? Honestly, my man looks drained and just the dust of his being whenever they get to his shop and he’s been living in that condition for months. During the games AND after the games, though? He looks a lot better – even if he has been beaten up by a bunch of demons. And that’s because, I think, Dante gets energized by being around people – friends, family, loved ones. Just like my sister, he can conquer the world after going to 5 parties in a row. Vergil, in the other hand, would be drained and dying by the second one, just like Dante is when he hasn’t been around people too much, always isolating himself.
So, despite his depression that makes him behave differently, Dante is an Extrovert in my book.
One that I don’t even think too much about him is the Perceiving trait. Dante is like that, 10/10. He can’t thrive on a schedule, things in his life are Everything Everywhere All At Once, and my man is in his lane with that. Try to fit Dante in a box with a set routine and too many rules, he’s dying. Aside from that, he has a knack for improvising and finding the best opportunities in unexpected situations.
Hence why he has so many freaking weapons and is just using all of them and all of his fighting styles at the same time, taunting demons and dancing Macarena right after – and making it all look like it makes the most absolute fucking sense. No one can pull that off like Dante, king of winging it.
Now, I do believe he is Intuitive. Dante might not be the art and poetry type like Vergil, but he is well educated. He has to be, to do what he does. And I do believe his thing for philosophy shows when Dante is lecturing demons: that WHOLE answer he gives Agnus about what demons lack compared to humans, that is VERY much philosophy. Dante doesn’t just go and takes everything at face value, because, if he did, he would very much say the obvious: demons are, objectively, stronger than humans. But all the heart, all the internal things that make humans stronger than demons… That’s philosophy.
I can see Dante enjoying movies – blockbusters, yes, packed with action and special effects, but let’s remember… Titanic is a blockbuster. And there’s so much heart in that movie, so much philosophy, so much about choosing your own fate and not being tied to the one that was handed to you… Titanic can pack one hell of an existential punch and make you think about so much in your life – you just have to be open to it.
Differently from Vergil, Dante wasn’t the library and heavy books sort of guy. But he was the guy to go to the movies, to watch all of that. To go back home (wherever his home was at the moment, even if just a place for him to crash for a while) and think about everything he watched in the silent darkness of his room. To think about the things Eva taught him – and see the value of all that.
He’s not the type to go to an art gallery, or read philosophy, or go to the opera. But he will go if he is invited, he will discuss things the way he learned them, and he will enjoy it. He’d be more than willing to talk about what makes humans so precious and spend hours doing so, as he would be open to listen to his s/o explaining what makes him so human despite his demonic heritage. And he would spend days thinking about it, always willing to discuss those topics if his s/o wanted to.
He's not textbook Intuitive like Vergil, I think, but he still is, in his very own way. I’d say Vergil is academically Intuitive, while Dante learned his Intuitive trait on the streets – we all say Dante is a safespace for everything, and a man like has to be open minded and curious. If he wasn’t, he would have never welcomed Trish and given her a chance to be human: he would’ve killed her right away for being a demon. And that isn’t our red devil.
Last but not least, Dante is a Feeling. I’m always dying on this hill, even if that one ALSO made me have some doubts.
Because you see, Dante just pretends to be a goof, but he isn’t. He is very intelligent and cunning, very perceiving and observing, but wrapped in a reckless rockstar package. It’s his own way of coping, but that is what makes him SUCH a great devil hunter (sorry, Nero). Even if we might disagree on this, I do believe Dante has his emotions very much controlled.
Which is a little evidenced by the lyrics on his theme song in DMC V, Subhuman (I know we ALL love Bury The Light and Devil Trigger but OH MY GOD, I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT HOW SUBHUMAN IS AWESOME AND FITTING FOR DANTE). The song is VERY explicit how Dante is always controlling his rage and keeping his demon on a very tight leash so he has control over it all the fucking time. That isn’t very Feeling in my book – it’s quite Thinking, like Vergil.
That’s what made me think a little about Vergil’s as well. I have what might be an unpopular opinion about the twins after thinking so much about them and seeing how they react and act in all of the games: Vergil has a tendency to loose control and overkill, while Dante has a tendency to let his rage burn at the exact moment he needs it and use his power just as much as he needs to get the job done. Dante is more controlled with his emotions than Vergil – and in my opinion, it’s because Vergil bottles up and ignores his emotions until they become a storm that can’t be stopped (cough cough personal experience cough cough) while Dante controls things so he can use his emotions and let them be expressed/gets them off his system in “safe” environments for him, which would be killing demons.
So, why the heck is Dante a Feeling in my book? Precisely why Vergil is a Thinking. It has to do with how they present themselves – and that is the point that makes them so different and butt heads almost every game.
The devil on Dante’s leash is his rage, the feeling he allows and wants to run amok and uncontrolled is his love. Dante controls his bursts of anger and the demonic blood who craves for mayhem – but he doesn’t control his human heart that does everything out of empathy and love. He will run to the rescue when his loved ones are in danger, he will protect weak people against the powerful ones, he will lecture corrupted humans who see nothing but power in front of them, he will cry and he will do everything in his power to keep love alive and thriving. He will react immediately, he will understand, he will feel the pain of those who are injured and begging for help – he will let his heart melt and do everything for them.
Therefore, Dante is a Feeling. And I think that’s what makes him and Vergil opposites and always fighting: Vergil wants power and puts logic over feelings, avoiding them like the plague, while Dante wants love and puts feelings over logic, embracing them and acting out of what his human heart tells him is the right thing to do. The whole series is based on this – at least in my opinion.
Verdict: Dante is an ENFP. Didn’t really expect it, but after analyzing with care, it makes a lot of sense to me.
Also, all the memes with ENFP x INTJ relationship dynamics I just checked are basically Dante and Vergil in a nutshell - I’ll leave some of them below and you guys will HAVE to forgive me not really crediting the people who created these memes, I honestly just found on google and wanted to share so you can have an idea of what I’m talking about.
But I honestly have been wheezing for the past hour and I thank you SO MUCH anon for this ask – I hope you enjoyed this little TED Talk about the Sparda Twins’ personalities please Capcom hire me to write official canon about them

If this isn't Dante and Vergil, I dunno what is
And last but not least:

That's all the games in a nutshell, really.

Sometimes I find it deeply and darkly hilarious about the moment magneto must have found that twins are his children. Like he must have thought -shit!!! They can't be mine, they won't likely accept me!!! Even he knows somewhere deep down, he majorly majorly screwed up and they won't accept him as their father. And I don't think he has majorly tried to repair relations from his side, he actually killed pietro!!?!! And when pietro was actually right and wanted to save wanda!
Like how can he expect their love when he was the one who abused his power to terrorize them in brotherhood Era. Even though he didn't know that wanda and pietro were his kids, he did, however deeply hurt them. I mean, the relationship between them was going to dysfunctional from start. Maybe that is why editorial is not showing magda as alive, and marya connected with twins- they both would have killed magneto several times over.
I can't believe people (and marvel editors) who want to see wanda as pure daddy's girl. Like atleast, show the growth how they patched up their relation, they could even start with the convo that how their children have been raised by other people-it can be a good introspective and bonding topic. And we need more pietro Lorna moments again, I feel she is at the moment more supportive than wanda. Poor Pietro is always the villain in Wanda's story. He also should be at x men related teams- I feel he gets more good character arc there.
Marvel doesn't do complex families well, I've said this before and will probably engrave it on my headstone. Marvel literally erases everything that makes people interested in the characters to have this generic take that's so bland and boring.
I don't think Erik ever really expected their acceptance or forgiveness, because the highlight of the issue where he reveals his connection to them isn't "I'm your father" it's "I'm Luna's grandfather"

Vision and the Scarlet Witch (1982) #4
Which again to me speaks volumes about how broken Erik's relationship between himself and his children are before he even knew them for who they were. And personally I feel that Erik tries harder to foster a relationship with his grandkids than his actual children because he's grandkids are still young enough for him to shape himself in their minds/lives but also they are a generation removed from him, there's space there for him to attempt an actual relationship without the constant reminder of his past, especially the loss of his first daughter.
This is why he viewed Luna as a fresh new step on his path towards redemption, at least in his grandkids eyes, and why marvel constantly cutting Luna out of the narrative only harms the family dynamic. Even Pietro thinks it's all a trick, that's his first thought when Erik reveals their connection, because of their tumultuous past with the Brotherhood. There could be so much interpersonal introspection and character dynamics if Marvel would JUST LET SOMEONE COMPETENT WRITE THEM.
Instead all we get is some half assed "Lorna and Wanda are his daddy's girls and pietro is the screw up" found family bullshit. Found family does not work with them. Their blood/biological connection was the only tie holding them together because of their past. There's no way the in character writing would any of them have anything to do with Erik if they weren't his bio kids.
We were actually discussing this in the Magnet Family discord the other week how close Pietro is with Lorna, and how good their dynamic is and how it differs from Wanda's. Also how the three of them never actually get good on panel time together. I definitely agree that Pietro is better off on the X-Men adjacent teams than on the Avengers.
