when i went to the dispensary a woman was taking signatures to get an amendment for the state medical cannabis law on the ballot this next election! it would extend the license renewal, allow general practitioners to certify patients, a few other great things i agreed with that would help start breaking down barriers to total drug reform so i signed, but wow i was shocked at the low number of signatures. dozens of people are in and out of there every day, i’m sure many are also registered voters. hopefully they’re set up at more dispensaries and get more signatures, an internet search says 1,000 is sufficient!

pro: climate protest again!
con: starts the second school ends
pro: we could go home ten minutes earlier
con: i promised my sibling and their friend to take them along, who are at school across from home
pro: i actually got there within ten minutes and we were ready to go very fast
con: we had to take the bus and where so over an hour late and the protest was moving already
pro: i called a friend and we just joined in a bit later
pro: both kids and also us had fun being there. i mean it sucks that it's necessary but also in that moment you feel like maybe it does actually matter what you do and we can actually change things
con: throat hurty i yelled/screamed too much
pro: we went to get ice cream afterwards. also a local paper interviewed me and my friend about why we're there and what we think about certain related things and even asked for our pronouns afterwards so they'll be correct in the article
pro: there was a literal last-minute speech by a woman who just. told us that she apologises for all the adults for all zhe shit they're handing down to us. that they were supposed to be role models and failed miserably. told us that we should keep doing what we're doing and she's so very sorry that adults keep failing us even now. it was so good and important to hear. i swear she got the loudest applause and cheers
in conclusion. good day. good protest. i hope we never have to do it again bc politicians are finally acting but also i'll def keep attending and i'll keep bringing the kids when they're up for it
