Modern bread and gluten
🇬🇧 In English
Bread is all too often responsible for digestive problems (bloating, stomach upsets, unstable transit). And also irritation of the mucous membrane (inside) of the intestine and intestinal permeability (porous intestine), with the molecules that disrupt immunity passing to the liver, resulting in allergies.
Autoimmune" diseases are very varied, depending on the genetic susceptibility of each individual:
digestive diseases: coeliac disease, non-viral hepatitis and fatty liver, pancreatitis, chronic intestinal diseases and ulcerative colitis.
rheumatological diseases
Neuropsychological: Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, etc.
hormonal: thyroiditis, damage to the pancreas and adrenal glands
bone: osteopathies, decalcifications, early osteoporosis
haematological: changes in the bone marrow, which produces too many or too few blood cells (red, white, platelets)
skin disorders: Lupus, psoriasis, scleroderma
On the other hand, we can't generalize: the real cause of the problem with bread is the genetic manipulation of wheat seeds; we're trying to standardize seeds (like twins), the primary objective being to maximize yields from industrial monocultures. The soil is not fertile, and yields depend on external fertilisers and pesticides.
The benefits of genetic standardisation for the bread industry - simplifies cultivation techniques, - facilitates phytosanitary treatments, - guarantees yields, - enables standardised flours to be obtained (e.g. T 9 index). The convergence of seeds, crops, flour and bread is generating health problems for consumers and farmers, due to the use of toxic products. Their convergence is generating health problems:
Non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system, is a recognised occupational disease in farmers exposed to pesticides in the course of their work.
On the other hand, industrial bread-making processes add other processes and ingredients
Flour is refined using chemical processes.
Intensive mechanical kneading
Very short fermentation with industrial yeasts
All these factors make bread indigestible and harmful:
Gluten becomes resistant to enzymatic digestion
Bread contains no vitamins, antioxidants or polyphenols and is low in minerals.
It is toxic because it contains traces of toxic products.
Ancient grains could be the solution, here are a few examples
Engrain or Petit Épeautre 10 (Triticum monococcum),
Barbu du Roussillon (Triticum aestivum),
Starch (Triticum turgidum),
Kamut brand Khorasan (Triticum turanicum)
and many other wheats of yesteryear must find their place again, with bakers particularly aware of their role in health. What's more, they will create many new jobs.
In conclusion:
Abandon industrial breads and opt for wholemeal flours made from ancient grains.
Prepare your bread at home
Preferably bake your bread by hand, avoid long-fermented Perrier and opt for long fermentation.
Chew the bread well, the faster it melts in your mouth, the easier it will be to digest.

enfermedades digestivas: celiaquía, hepatitis no vírica e hígado graso, pancreatitis, enfermedades intestinales crónicas y colitis ulcerosa.
Kamut marca Khorasan (Triticum turanicum)

The Art of Tea: A Journey through Culture, Health, and Flavor
Tea, the second most consumed beverage in the world after water, has a rich and diverse history dating back thousands of years. Beyond being a comforting drink, tea embodies culture, health benefits, and a world of flavors. In this article, we'll take a journey through the world of tea, exploring its origins, its impact on culture, its many health benefits, and the myriad of flavors it offers.
The Origins of Tea
The story of tea begins in ancient China, where legend has it that Emperor Shen Nong discovered tea around 2737 BCE when tea leaves blew into a pot of boiling water he was preparing. Over time, tea became deeply ingrained in Chinese culture, influencing everything from art and philosophy to medicine and daily rituals.
Tea eventually made its way to Japan, where it took on its own unique traditions, most notably in the form of the Japanese tea ceremony, or Chanoyu. This ritualistic practice celebrates the preparation and consumption of matcha, a powdered green tea that emphasizes mindfulness, aesthetics, and respect.
The British also played a significant role in tea's global spread. During the 17th century, the British East India Company began importing tea from China, making it popular in England and eventually leading to the Boston Tea Party in 1773, a pivotal event in the lead-up to the American Revolution.
Tea and Culture
Tea has had a profound influence on the cultures it has touched. In China, tea has long been associated with Confucianism and Daoism, and it has played a central role in various social rituals and ceremonies. In Japan, the tea ceremony is not just a cultural practice but a spiritual one, emphasizing harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility.
In British culture, the tradition of afternoon tea became popular in the 19th century, and it remains a cherished custom today, complete with finger sandwiches, scones, and a pot of Earl Grey or English breakfast tea.
Tea and Health
Beyond its cultural significance, tea offers a wide range of health benefits. The leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, which produces black, green, white, and oolong teas, contain polyphenols, antioxidants, and other compounds that have been linked to various health advantages.
Antioxidants: Tea is rich in antioxidants, such as catechins in green tea and theaflavins in black tea. These compounds help combat free radicals in the body, potentially reducing the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer.
Mental Alertness: Tea contains caffeine, which, though less than coffee, can provide a gentle and sustainable energy boost without the jittery side effects.
Weight Management: Green tea, in particular, is believed to aid in weight management by boosting metabolism and promoting fat oxidation.
Digestive Health: Herbal teas like peppermint and ginger can soothe digestive discomfort, helping with issues like indigestion and bloating.
Stress Reduction: The ritual of making and sipping tea can have a calming effect, reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
Flavors of the World
Tea's diversity goes beyond its cultural significance and health benefits. Different types of tea are created through varying processes, resulting in a wide array of flavors.
Green Tea: Known for its grassy and earthy flavors, green tea is minimally processed, preserving its natural color and fresh taste. Varieties like Sencha, Matcha, and Dragonwell offer distinct profiles.
Black Tea: Black tea, with its robust and bold flavors, undergoes full oxidation. Varieties like Assam, Darjeeling, and Earl Grey showcase the diversity within this category.
White Tea: White tea is the least processed, resulting in a delicate, floral, and slightly sweet taste. Silver Needle and White Peony are well-known white tea varieties.
Oolong Tea: Falling between green and black tea in terms of oxidation, oolong teas are complex and nuanced. They can range from light and floral to dark and rich, with Tie Guan Yin and Da Hong Pao being notable examples.
Herbal and Fruit Infusions: Beyond the traditional tea types, there's a world of herbal and fruit infusions, including chamomile, peppermint, hibiscus, and more, each offering unique and delightful flavors.
Conclusion
Tea is more than just a beverage; it's a cultural treasure, a source of well-being, and a voyage of flavors waiting to be explored. From the serene Japanese tea ceremonies to the bustling British afternoon teas and the myriad health benefits, tea continues to captivate hearts and minds around the world. So, whether you're seeking a moment of tranquility, a boost of energy, or simply a delightful taste experience, a cup of tea is always ready to take you on a journey of culture, health, and flavor.

which one better, green tea or Black tea?
When it comes to choosing between #green tea and black tea, it can be a difficult decision as both offer a range of health benefits and unique flavors. Both green and black tea come from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis, but the processing and oxidation of the leaves determine the final product. In this article, we will take a closer look at both green tea and black tea, compare their benefits and determine which one is better for overall health and wellness.
Tumblr media
Green Tea :
Green tea is made from unoxidized leaves of Camellia Sinensis, which makes it lighter in color and flavor. The leaves are lightly steamed or pan-fried to stop oxidation, preserving the plant’s natural antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Green tea is known for its high levels of antioxidants, particularly a group of compounds called catechins, which have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, lower cholesterol levels, and reduce the risk of certain types of cancer.
Green tea is also rich in polyphenols, which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. In addition, green tea contains a type of amino acid called L-theanine, which can help to reduce anxiety and stress. Furthermore, green tea contains caffeine, which can help to increase mental alertness and focus, making it an ideal choice for a morning beverage.
Black Tea :
Black tea, on the other hand, is made from fully oxidized leaves of Camellia Sinensis, resulting in a darker color and bolder flavor. Unlike green tea, black tea is made by exposing the leaves to air, which allows them to ferment and develop a rich, full-bodied flavor. Although black tea contains fewer antioxidants than green tea, it is still rich in polyphenols, which have been shown to improve heart health, reduce inflammation, and lower the risk of chronic disease.
Black tea also contains higher levels of caffeine than green tea, making it a good choice for those seeking a quick energy boost. Additionally, black tea is rich in tannins, which have been shown to have a calming effect on the body, making it a great choice for a mid-day break or as a relaxing evening beverage.
Which is Better – Green Tea or Black Tea?
Tumblr media
When it comes to choosing between green tea and black tea, there is no clear winner. Both offer a range of health benefits and unique flavors, making them both ideal choices for a healthy and balanced diet. The key to choosing between the two is to consider your individual needs and preferences.
If you are looking for a high-antioxidant beverage to help reduce your risk of chronic disease and improve heart health, green tea is the better choice. Additionally, green tea’s lower caffeine levels make it a great choice for those who are sensitive to caffeine or who want a calming and relaxing beverage.
However, if you are looking for a quick energy boost, black tea is the better choice. Its higher caffeine levels and full-bodied flavor make it a great choice for a morning or mid-day beverage, while its tannins make it a great choice for a relaxing evening beverage.
Conclusion
In conclusion, both green tea and black tea offer a range of health benefits and unique flavors, making them both ideal choices for a healthy and balanced diet. Whether you are looking for a high-antioxidant beverage to help reduce your risk of chronic disease, or a quick energy boost, both #green tea and black tea have something to offer.
In the end, the choice between green tea and black tea will depend on your individual needs and preferences. By considering the health benefits of each and the unique flavors they offer, you can make an informed.

A University of Massachusetts Lowell study found that eating apples boosts the amount of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the brain as well as its production.
The hormone acetylcholine performs a variety of functions, one of which is controlling neuroplasticity, or the brain’s capacity to adapt and form new structures.
Memory is enhanced by higher acetylcholine levels in the brain. The preferred course of treatment for Alzheimer’s disease involves medication with the aim of boosting acetylcholine levels in the brain to slow down patients’ mental decline.
The results of the current study demonstrate that eating foods high in antioxidants, such as apples and apple juice, can help lessen issues related to memory loss.
Apple Help To Fight Cancers:
Apples have one of the highest antioxidant capacities of any fruit. Eating an apple a day (or more) has been related to a lower risk of colorectal, breast, and prostate cancers.
According to studies, apples’ antioxidant content may help lower the incidence of the aforementioned cancers. Antioxidants have been proven in laboratory tests to slow the growth of cancer cells.
Eating apples may help prevent lung cancer, according to other human research.
However, the peel should not be discarded because it contains the majority of the antioxidants that fight cancer. Apples may help in the fight against cancer, even though there isn’t one guaranteed way to do it.
Apple Benefits For Sexual Enhancement:
Having a good sex drive is related to feeling both physically and emotionally healthy. It is therefore not surprising that the meals you eat help to enhance your sexual life.
According to a recent study, eating two apples a day will help you have more sexual endurance. Apples are a rich source of quercetin, an antioxidant flavonoid that has been shown to improve endurance.
Including apples in your diet can improve your sex life in a number of ways. They contribute to boosting stamina and libido.
High blood pressure in women can cause a decrease in libido and sexual desire. Especially if it makes you tired. Their body’s reaction to sexual activity may change if there is less blood flow to the vagina. You might be able to resolve both problems by eating apples.
Eating apples could improve your sexual health and function, regardless of whether you are worried about low testosterone levels, erectile dysfunction, or prostate health.
Conclusion:
Apples are a healthy addition to any diet. They are full of fiber, vitamins, and minerals that can help control appetite and maintain healthy blood sugar levels.
Regular consumption of apples, especially with the nutrient-rich skin on, can add essential vitamins and minerals to any diet. Except for allergies and poisons from eating a lot of apple seeds, apples have very few dangers.
Apples come in a wide range of variations. Although they have diverse nutritional profiles, the amounts of sugar, carbs, and protein they contain are generally similar.
After learning about all the benefits apples may provide, make sure to remember to incorporate apples into your diet on a regular basis.
If you enjoyed reading about the benefits of apples, please spread the word.

What Coffee Is Good for Liver
The liver plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health by detoxifying harmful substances, producing essential proteins, and aiding in digestion. Coffee, when consumed wisely, can have beneficial effects on liver health. In this article, we’ll explore what types of coffee are good for your liver, the specific benefits they offer, and how to incorporate them into your diet for optimal health.
Understanding Liver Health
The liver is a vital organ responsible for filtering toxins from the blood, producing bile, and metabolizing nutrients. To keep the liver functioning optimally, it’s important to support it with a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet. Coffee has been shown to have potential benefits for liver health, but understanding how different types of coffee affect the liver can help you make the best choices.
Tumblr media
The Role of Coffee in Liver Health
Coffee contains a range of bioactive compounds that can positively impact liver health. Studies suggest that moderate coffee consumption can reduce the risk of liver diseases and improve overall liver function. However, not all coffee types provide the same benefits. Choosing the right coffee can enhance these positive effects and support liver health.
Types of Coffee Beneficial for Liver Health
Here’s a detailed look at the types of coffee that are particularly good for liver health:
1. Black Coffee
Rich in Antioxidants
Black coffee is a powerhouse of antioxidants, which help to neutralize free radicals in the body. Free radicals can cause oxidative stress and damage liver cells. By reducing oxidative stress, black coffee helps protect the liver from potential damage.
Reduced Risk of Liver Diseases
Studies have found that black coffee consumption is associated with a lower risk of liver diseases such as cirrhosis and liver cancer. The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds in black coffee contribute to this protective effect.
Supports Metabolism
Black coffee can help enhance metabolism and support liver function. By promoting efficient metabolic processes, black coffee aids in the detoxification of harmful substances.
2. Espresso
High Concentration of Beneficial Compounds
Espresso is a concentrated form of black coffee that contains a higher concentration of beneficial compounds, including antioxidants and polyphenols. This makes it a potent choice for supporting liver health.
Enhanced Antioxidant Benefits
The concentrated nature of espresso allows for a more significant intake of antioxidants in a smaller volume, which can be beneficial for reducing liver inflammation and oxidative stress.
Improved Liver Function
Regular consumption of espresso has been linked to improved liver function due to its high antioxidant content. It helps in reducing liver enzyme levels, which are markers of liver inflammation.
3. Cold Brew Coffee
Lower Acidity
Cold brew coffee is made by steeping coffee grounds in cold water for an extended period. This method results in a coffee that is less acidic compared to traditional brewing methods. Lower acidity is gentler on the digestive system and can be beneficial for those with sensitive livers.
Smooth and Mild Flavor
Cold brew coffee has a smooth and mild flavor, making it a pleasant option for those who might find traditional coffee too harsh. Its smoothness can also reduce the risk of gastrointestinal discomfort.
Preserves Antioxidants
The cold brewing process preserves the antioxidants in coffee, which are essential for combating oxidative stress and supporting liver health.
4. Decaf Coffee
Reduced Caffeine Content
Decaffeinated coffee contains significantly less caffeine compared to regular coffee. For individuals sensitive to caffeine or those looking to reduce their intake, decaf coffee provides a way to enjoy the benefits of coffee without the stimulating effects of caffeine.
Maintains Antioxidant Properties
Despite having less caffeine, decaf coffee still retains many of the antioxidants found in regular coffee. These antioxidants continue to provide liver-protective benefits and help reduce oxidative stress.
Gentler on the System
Decaf coffee is generally gentler on the digestive system, making it a suitable option for those with liver conditions or digestive sensitivities.
5. Organic Coffee
Free from Harmful Chemicals
Organic coffee is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Choosing organic coffee reduces the risk of consuming harmful chemicals that can affect liver function. It ensures a cleaner, purer coffee that supports overall health.
Higher Quality Beans
Organic coffee often comes from high-quality beans that are grown under more stringent standards. The higher quality can translate into a better taste and potentially greater health benefits.
Supports Sustainable Practices
Organic coffee is usually produced using sustainable farming practices, which are better for the environment and contribute to overall health, including liver health.
Benefits of Coffee for Liver Health
Drinking coffee can provide several benefits for liver health, supported by scientific research:
1. Reduced Risk of Liver Diseases
Lower Incidence of Cirrhosis
Regular coffee consumption has been linked to a lower risk of liver cirrhosis, a condition characterized by liver scarring and impaired function. The antioxidants in coffee help protect liver cells from damage and inflammation.
Decreased Risk of Liver Cancer
Studies have shown that coffee drinkers have a reduced risk of developing liver cancer. The compounds in coffee help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, which are associated with cancer development.
2. Lower Liver Enzyme Levels
Indicators of Liver Health
Liver enzymes are biomarkers used to assess liver health. Elevated levels of liver enzymes can indicate liver inflammation or damage. Coffee consumption has been associated with lower levels of these enzymes, suggesting improved liver health.
Reduction in Inflammation
Coffee’s anti-inflammatory properties contribute to reduced inflammation in the liver. This can help in managing conditions such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and other inflammatory liver conditions.
3. Improved Liver Fat Levels
Reduction in Fat Accumulation
Coffee can aid in reducing liver fat levels, which is beneficial for individuals with fatty liver disease. The compounds in coffee help break down and metabolize fat, preventing its accumulation in liver cells.
Support for Metabolic Health
By improving metabolic health, coffee helps in maintaining a healthy balance of fats in the liver. This supports overall liver function and reduces the risk of developing fatty liver disease.

To maximize the benefits of coffee for liver health, consider the following guidelines:
1. Choose Quality Coffee
Opt for Freshly Brewed Coffee
Freshly brewed coffee, made from high-quality beans, provides the best health benefits. Avoid instant coffee, which may contain additives and lower-quality beans.
Prefer Organic and Fair-Trade Options
Organic and fair-trade coffees ensure that you’re consuming a product grown without harmful chemicals and under ethical practices. These options are better for both your liver and the environment.
2. Limit Sugar and Cream
Avoid Excessive Additives
Adding large amounts of sugar and cream to your coffee can negate its health benefits. Instead, enjoy your coffee black or with minimal additives.
Consider Healthier Alternatives
If you prefer a creamier texture, use plant-based milk or a small amount of low-fat milk. These options are less likely to affect liver health negatively.
3. Maintain Moderation
Stick to 2-3 Cups per Day
Moderation is key to enjoying the benefits of coffee without adverse effects. Stick to 2-3 cups of coffee per day to maximize liver health benefits while avoiding potential negative impacts of excessive caffeine.
Monitor Your Caffeine Intake

Some individuals are sensitive to caffeine and may experience side effects such as insomnia, jitteriness, or digestive issues. Pay attention to how your body reacts to caffeine and adjust your consumption accordingly.
Switch to Decaf if Necessary
If you experience adverse effects from caffeine, consider switching to decaf coffee or reducing your overall caffeine intake to avoid these issues.
2. Interaction with Medications
Consult with a Healthcare Professional
Coffee can interact with certain medications, including those used to treat liver conditions. Consult with a healthcare professional if you are taking medications to ensure that coffee consumption does not interfere with your treatment.
Be Aware of Potential Interactions
Understand how coffee might interact with your medications and adjust your consumption to avoid potential negative effects.
3. Excessive Consumption
Avoid Overconsumption
Drinking too much coffee can lead to negative health effects, including digestive issues and increased anxiety. Stick to recommended limits to enjoy the benefits of coffee without experiencing these problems.
Balance Coffee with Other Healthy Habits
Incorporate coffee into a well-balanced lifestyle that includes healthy eating, regular exercise, and adequate rest to support overall health and liver function.
Conclusion
Choosing the right coffee can significantly impact liver health. Black coffee, espresso, cold brew, decaf, and organic coffee all offer various benefits that support liver function and overall well-being. By incorporating these types of coffee into a balanced diet and practicing moderation, you can enjoy the protective effects of coffee on your liver. Remember, a healthy lifestyle, including proper hydration and a nutritious diet, is essential for supporting liver health and maintaining overall wellness.

The Sweet Perks: Health Benefits of Chocolate
Tumblr media
Chocolate has long been celebrated as a delicious treat, but its benefits extend beyond satisfying a sweet tooth. Various studies have shown that chocolate, particularly dark chocolate, can offer a range of health benefits. In this article, we'll explore these benefits and also touch upon some expensive chocolate brands that not only delight the palate but also embody luxury and quality.
Nutritional Components of Chocolate
Chocolate, especially dark chocolate with high cocoa content, is rich in nutrients. It contains flavonoids, antioxidants, and minerals such as iron, magnesium, copper, and manganese. These components contribute to its various health benefits.

July 22 - Chengchi University, Taiwan Zoo, and YaoYue Teahouse
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today was one of the days I was most looking forward to, and that's because we were going to the zoo. Before that though, we got to visit Chengchi University. This was really special because it is where both Chief and Yeh Laoshi studied. We got a personal tour, which included getting to walk into one of the dorms. I was amazed at how nice they were. At UF our single-person dorms are maybe two-thirds the size of the ones here. Furthermore each dorm had its own balcony, fridge, and full bathroom. Needless to say, Chengchi takes care of its students. Something that surprised me was that apparently roughly 90% of the students enrolled are foreigners. I’m not sure how it is with other universities in Taiwan, but obviously by an American standard that is a very high percentage. I think it's so cool how Chengchi has so many different cultures and backgrounds within it, and I’m sure it makes the university better because of it.
We also had the fortune of checking out the nearby library, which was so impressive. At UF we’re spoiled with incredible libraries, but this might have been even better than all the ones we have. It was built in 2019, so it was filled with all the modern technologies and designs. It was definitely a place I could see myself spending a lot of time at if I was studying in Taiwan.
After grabbing some lunch at a nearby street, we went to the Taiwan Zoo. Ultimately, a zoo is a zoo, and the one here can only be so different from the ones back in the states, but I was still very excited. I just personally love zoos and was happy to be there. My group took a trolley and started from the back, which ended up being a great idea as it was all downhill for us. We all felt really special because most of the animals were really active for some reason. My favorite animal to see is always the giraffe, because as a kid my favorite stuffed animal was a giraffe named Buddy. I also like seeing the otters and elephants just because I think they’re really cute. Some other special animals we were able to see were red pandas and pumas.
After a few draining hours at the zoo we finished the day refreshing ourselves at the YaoYue Teahouse. This felt like one of the most remote areas we’ve been to so far. The bus took us a good ways into the mountains, far from any city noise, and we enjoyed some jasmine tea in the middle of the wilderness. We were able to do a little bit of hiking, but ultimately decided to go back because it was getting dark and the mosquitos were pretty bad. I also enjoyed the cats that were hanging around the teahouse.
Nowadays it seems that drinking tea is pretty widely accepted to be a healthy activity. At least personally, I’ve always heard that tea has good effects on the body. However, I didn’t know exactly how amazing it could be. I usually drink green tea a few times a week, usually before bed, because of the taste and because of how it can calm me down. I especially savor it when it’s cold outside. After reading the article “Tea and Health: Studies in Humans,” I have a much deeper understanding of all the ways tea can be a really beneficial drink for humans. The article spoke about how drinking tea regularly can have positive effects in regards to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, arthritis, and neurological diseases. However, the main health condition that tea can be beneficial for was cancer. Tea contains many components, particularly polyphenols, that help reduce the risk of developing all the chronic diseases mentioned previously. Of course, plenty of testing and studies are still being conducted to better understand how tea and the human body interact, but the consensus is that regular tea consumption is good for humans. Having these thoughts on my mind, I was all the more relaxed while enjoying my tea at YaoYue Teahouse. In fact, with all the tea I’ve been drinking while in Taiwan, my body is probably as healthy as it’s ever been.

July 22- National Cheng-Chi University, Zoo, and YaoYue Tea House
Today I had a very rough time waking up in the morning. It was around 6:30 when I woke and then I stayed in bed for over half an hour trying to convince myself to go get ready. I grabbed coffee and a little breakfast this morning before going upstairs to upload some of my pictures to free up space on my phone for more. Luckily we had a bus for today so I was not going to have to stay standing on the metro, on top of my poor morning. I really enjoyed touring the university dorms and the library, which was so cool. They have so many different things that I have never seen before in only one library. My mom works in a public library, so I had to snap a few photos to send to her. After that, we went to the zoo and it was really cool to see many animals that I do not get the chance to see in the US as well as animals from the US but through a different lens. The tea ceremony was very nice as well, the jasmine tea tasted amazing and learning the process of brewing it was very fun. My and Sabrina decided to do some snack tasting instead of a full dinner, but we ended up seeing bakeries by the hotel that were open and opted for that instead, which was a great choice as it was delicious.

Academic:
The article "Tea and Health: Studies in Humans" offers a detailed examination of tea's cultural significance and health benefits from an anthropological perspective. Tea, derived from Camellia sinensis, is a globally cherished beverage, integral to social rituals and daily life for two-thirds of the world's population. The processing of tea leaves into black, green, or oolong tea reflects diverse cultural practices, influencing its chemical composition and health effects. Green tea, rich in polyphenolic compounds like EGCG, is well-studied for its potential cancer-preventive properties, while black tea, containing theaflavins and thearubigins, also shows promising health benefits. The article highlights the metabolic pathways of tea catechins and their bioavailability in humans, underscoring the interplay between traditional consumption practices and scientific validation of health benefits. Epidemiological and clinical studies cited in the article explore the protective effects of tea against various cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic disorders, reflecting tea's profound impact on human health and cultural identity across different societies. I for one am inclined to believe that there is some level of healing propertie, even if minor or spiritual that tea gives, if the use of it is so widely spread.

Cancer-Proof Your Diet: The Science Behind Foods That Prevent Cancer
In the battle against cancer, our diet can serve as a powerful ally. Scientific research has shed light on the profound impact of certain foods in preventing cancer and supporting overall health. By incorporating these cancer-fighting foods into our diet, we can take proactive steps to reduce our risk of developing this devastating disease. In this article, we'll delve into the science behind foods to prevent cancer and explore how you can cancer-proof your diet for a healthier future.
Berries: Nature's Antioxidant Powerhouses
Berries such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and phytochemicals that help neutralize free radicals and protect against cellular damage. These vibrant fruits have been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and reduce the risk of various types of cancer, including breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer. Incorporating a variety of berries into your diet can provide valuable protection against cancer and support overall health.
Cruciferous Vegetables: Detoxify and Defend
Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and kale contain compounds called glucosinolates, which are converted into bioactive compounds that help detoxify carcinogens and inhibit tumor growth. These nutritional powerhouses have been linked to a reduced risk of several types of cancer, including lung, breast, and prostate cancer. Including cruciferous vegetables in your meals regularly can provide essential nutrients and support cancer prevention.
Fatty Fish: Omega-3-Rich Superstars
Fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, and trout are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which possess anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Omega-3s help reduce inflammation, inhibit cancer cell proliferation, and suppress tumor growth. Incorporating fatty fish into your diet at least twice a week can provide valuable omega-3s and support overall health and cancer prevention.
Garlic and Onions: Immune-Boosting Allies
Garlic and onions belong to the allium family of vegetables, known for their immune-boosting and cancer-fighting properties. These aromatic vegetables contain sulfur compounds like allicin and diallyl sulfide, which help inhibit cancer cell growth and promote apoptosis. Adding fresh garlic and onions to your cooking can provide valuable protection against cancer and enhance the flavor of your meals.
Green Tea: The Antioxidant Powerhouse
Green tea is loaded with polyphenols, particularly catechins, which have potent antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. The polyphenols in green tea help inhibit tumor growth, reduce inflammation, and protect against DNA damage caused by free radicals. Enjoying green tea regularly as a beverage or incorporating it into smoothies and other recipes can provide valuable protection against cancer and support overall health.
Turmeric and Curcumin: The Golden Spice
Turmeric contains curcumin, a bioactive compound with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Curcumin has been extensively studied for its potential cancer-preventive effects, including its ability to inhibit cancer cell proliferation and suppress tumor growth. Adding turmeric to your cooking or consuming curcumin supplements can provide valuable protection against cancer and support overall well-being.
Conclusion:
By incorporating these cancer-fighting foods into your diet, you can take proactive steps to cancer-proof your diet and support your overall health and well-being. From antioxidant-rich berries and detoxifying cruciferous vegetables to omega-3-rich fatty fish and immune-boosting garlic and onions, these powerhouse ingredients offer delicious and nutritious ways to reduce your risk of developing cancer. Make it a priority to include these foods in your meals regularly, and empower yourself to take control of your health and well-being.
