I woke up today hating. It felt good. I took a shower hatefully. I opened up a pork roll and cooked it for breakfast. The house came alive with the smell of screaming meat. Outside, the one streetlamp that had stood there had walked away since yesterday. I took a butcher knife and made a small, perfect incision in my thigh. Life comes at you in slashes, grunts, and beautiful, lavish fantasias. It can stun you into calm, accomplished happiness.
