Transmutational Meditation
I’ve been thinking about writing out this technique for a long time. I hesitated because it’s one of those new agey, airy fairy, woo woo kind of techniques. If you’re not a dedicated mediation practitioner you most likely won’t believe in this sort of thing. It was part of a bonus course from the Stylelife Academy I took many years ago called Nail Your Inner Game by Ross Jeffries.
If you’ve done guided visualization meditations before than this will be nothing new for you. I used to be an insomniac letting my emotional wounds of anger, anxiety, and fear keep me awake at night, but since I started 20 minutes of meditation practice before bed my sleeping pattern has vastly improved.
This technique requires some basic experience in meditation as a foundation. I had at least  seven days 20 minutes twice a day experience of basic breath meditation where you breathe in and out noticing the pauses between inhale and exhale. The same goes for focus meditation seven days twice a day for 20 minutes where you sit and notice the different sensations throughout your body. Bringing your focus back to the sensations in your body without judging yourself as your mind starts to wonder.
Having a clear, focused mind helps to build the foundation for transmutational meditation practice. Ross Jefferies believes in calming, transmuting, and focusing your emotional energy to be more productive towards your goals.
1) Detangle your emotions: We must begin with a clear mind. Do your beginners breath meditation for ten minutes to clear your mind. Then focus on an emotionally difficult experience. As your emotions begin to manifest pay attention to the physical sensations of the emotional energy in your body and where they are. I don’t like to suggest too much since I know the power of suggestion, but for example: anger in your jaw and forehead, fear in your throat, frustration in your eyebrow, nervousness in your neck and shoulders. Using the clear mind you’ve cultivated from previous meditations focus on the emotional energy in your body and where it’s located.
Label the type of emotions you feel, ignore any visual imagery and internal dialogue that goes along with the emotion, only focus on the physical sensation. Bring your focus all the way into only the physical sensation until you can notice the emotional energy change so that it no longer brings you suffering. After focusing for a little while on the physical sensation of the emotion you might notice it eventually calm and ease some of the emotional pain. Do this until you are able to separate the physical feeling of different types of emotions apart from one another. Once you’ve focused on and calmed your emotional energy you can assign a color to each type.

If the emotion is still too powerful or hurtful inside your body you could try to focus on the very edge of the physical sensation of the emotion. You may begin to see changes in the emotional energy that way. If you’re still having trouble with the emotional energy causing suffering, focus on the physical sensation of the pressure of the ground upon the bottom of your feet. Once you begin this process I want you to make sure you follow it all the way through. I don’t want you to be stuck ruminating on your negative emotional energy.
2) Create and use your personal symbol: Now that your emotions are sorted and detangled from one another you have to create and use your personal symbol for transmutation. It has to be something meaningful and powerful for you and your mind. Think of the words recycling, refining, purification, and transmutation and whatever imagery comes to your mind. It could be some kind of a filter, some kind of recycling plant, it could be a car crusher melting things down into clean even cans, it could be a giant oak tree cleaning the air around it and making it fresh, crisp and breathable, a forge that cleans and melts things down to a more pure, clean form. Whatever imagery comes to your mind and sticks out as meaningful to you is your personal transmutation symbol. Once you’ve created your symbol the first time you can use it again for subsequent meditations.
Picture that symbol above your head and picture the emotional color in your body from step one. Take a deep breath and imagine as you exhale that the colored emotional energy is flowing out through your body and moving through your symbol for transmutation. As it moves through that symbol it’s being cleaned, filtered, purified, ground up, and treated in such a way that when it leaves that symbol it becomes purified, clean, and changes color. Imagine that clean and purified emotional energy is flowing back into you, purifying and soothing those negative emotional energy spots you felt out in your body in step one. Imagine all that emotional energy is being returned to you for your peace of mind, balance, learning, goals, and positive future vision of yourself.
3) Clean your emotional energy and thank yourself: Once your emotional energy has gone through your transmutation symbol and flowed back into your body imagine your personal transmutation symbol making billions and billions of copies of itself. Replicating almost like a virus and flowing all around you and through your body cleaning and purifying out any negative emotions you may have left. Imagine it flowing through your past and future transmuting all the painful emotional energy into pure, clean, and positive energy for your peace of mind, goals, and vision of who you are already more and more becoming.
Smile to yourself and be thankful that you took the time and effort to clean up your emotional energy towards something more positive into the future.
That’s about all there is to it. Ross Jeffries and myself recommend reflecting in a journal afterwards on your emotionally painful experience to extract learning experiences and improve upon your actions into the future. With continued practice you’ll become a lot more emotionally intelligent within yourself since the focus meditation makes your acutely more aware of your bodily experience of emotional energy.

All that was holding them back from escaping the camp, was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs. As the man gazed upon the elephants, he was completely confused as to why the elephants didn’t just use their strength to break the rope and escape the camp. They could easily have done so, but instead they didn’t try to at all. Curious and wanting to know the answer, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing there and never tried to escape. The trainer replied; “WHEN THEY ARE VERY YOUNG AND MUCH SMALLER WE USE THE SAME SIZE ROPE TO TIE THEM AND, AT THAT AGE, IT’S ENOUGH TO HOLD THEM. AS THEY GROW UP, THEY ARE CONDITIONED TO BELIEVE THEY CANNOT BREAK AWAY. THEY BELIEVE THE ROPE CAN STILL HOLD THEM, SO THEY NEVER TRY TO BREAK FREE.” The only reason that the elephants weren’t breaking free and escaping from the camp was because over time they adopted the belief that it just wasn’t possible. Moral of the story: No matter how much the world tries to hold you back, always continue with the belief that what you want to achieve is possible. One day man approached Chanakya and enthusiastically started saying, “
Do you know, few days a while ago, I heard things from your friend about you?”
Chanakya :Before I listen to what you have to say, I would like to test it through my three-step testing.
Man:What is this three-step test?
Chanakya: Before you tell me about what my friend has said, let us test it. I call this testing – a three-step test. The first test is of truthfulness Is it sure that whatever you are going to say is a truth?”
Man: No, I have heard it from somewhere.”
Chanakya: Okay, If you don’t know whether this is true or not, we will do another test. The second test is for goodness. Are you going to tell me some good thing about my friend?”
Man: No, it’s opposite to it.
Chanakya :Then Whatever you are going to say, is not the truth, is not positive about my friend then let’s do the third test. The third test is of usefulness. Whatever you are going to tell me, is that useful to me?”
Man:No, it’s not like that.
Chanakya then said the last thing.
“Whatever you are supposed to tell me, it is not true, it’s not positive and it’s not useful also, then why do you want to tell me?”

how to awaken
Great people lived with right view, right speech,  right intention, right action,  right livelihood, right effort,  right mindfulness,  right concentration. Whereas we live with desire,  frustration, ego, selfishness, gossiping, revenge, bad deeds and worrying.  So their eyes sparkled with entitlement and our with tears. Their heart filled with happiness and ours’ with sorrow. Their hand opened to give help and we stay handicapped.. Their speech gave encouragement and us simple discouraged. They earned name and fame and we just play the game. Hence they awakened and we underwhelmed.

Today's mindfulness lesson is taken from @anipemachodron and her book #livingbeautifullywithuncertaintyandchange. It has been really inspiring delving a bit deeper into the practice of #presenceofmind and making friends with areas of my life that I viewed as hinderances or annoyances. Like washing the dishes! The most powerful growth has been in my relationship with my breath. So in using the breath as inspiration, today's noon class at @trybeyoga yoga will encourage "being mindful of the breath to keep us present".
