not to be me but i need to know what’s going on in Untitled Document. i need to know what secrets it contains,, also would love to know more of what you’ve added to the set it up au 💅
KNIGHT X PRINCE AU IN UNTITLED DOCUMENT!!! not naming it bc I'm trying (and failing) to not get attached. it's going somewhere that's for sure!! have a snippet :)
Edwin wasn’t sure what he was doing. All he knew as he climbed the stairs of the knights’ quarters, passing several curious stares, that Charles was injured and not in the infirmary. If the hypothermia didn’t kill him, Edwin would. Thomas’ kingdom is a sort of reprieve, but only with Charles. There is nothing tethering him here apart from getting to see his face in the mornings, the afternoons, the evenings.
set it up au haunts me. i have not added to it all apart from the big word-dump plot points that I put in chat ages ago. vv much on the backest of burners rn 😔
but for anybody else who sees this: palasaki but make it the movie set it up (2018 romcom)!! basically, it's abt crystal and niko being assistants to two big-time bosses (maxine and jenny respectively) and they try and set them up together to get some reprieve from their overbearing workplace. ofc, things don't go as planned with maxine and jenny AND their own love lives become entangled hehe
thanks for the ask beloved <3

The King, His Men, and I
Part One
Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five Part Six
Word Count 2.1K
Summary: Prince Remus never wanted to get married. He loved his single life, being in love with his best friends and not being king. But then his father sets him up. Remus never wanted to fall in love for the forth time. Neither did his guards. Neither did his wife to be. But none of them could help it
POLY!MARAUDERS X FEMALE!READER
ROYAL!AU
Tumblr media
The Lupin bloodline had always been kept noble. Kings marrying queens or the daughters of barons and noblemen. Lupins had been sitting on the throne for hundreds of years now, ruling with an iron fist.
That was until Remus’ father. Lyall Lupin had always loved riding off into the forest and shooting arrows at targets he had painted on trees (it was a passion he later shared with his son). One day when he was riding through the woods, chest heaving and sweat on his brow, he came across a girl from the village.
Hope. She was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. And she was in danger.
The forest was full of all types of creatures, but they were usually found further in, where the forest got dark. They needed places to hide away and Hope had just passed that threshold.
The creature was pulling at her skirts, long, claw-like nails tearing at the fabric. Hope was pressed against a tree, tears springing from her eyes. As soon as he saw it Lyall jumped from his horse and thrust his sword towards the creature, slaying it where it was. He offered her kind words and a kind smile as she shook like a leaf.
His original plan was to take her back to the village, but, when Hope started talking, Lyall realised she had no idea who he was. He didn’t take her back to the village just yet; they spent the afternoon together instead.
At the end of the day, when Lyall was back in the castle and Hope was back in her tiny house in the village, Lyall knew he was in love.
There was a lot of fight between Lyall and his father when he found out about Hope. They’d managed to sneak around for a little while, but when Lyalls father found out about them, all hell broke loose. No matter what the king did to try and stop them from seeing each other. It took him almost banishing Hope from the  kingdom before he realised how ridiculous it was.
They were married a month after that.
A year and a half after that they had a little boy of their own. Remus. He was their pride and joy for at least the first seven years of his life. He was given his first pony at four years old, his father often taking him out to the woods where his parent’s first met.
When Remus was seven he went into the woods alone. Once his father had become king he had laws against going too far into the woods, about disturbing the creatures that lived there. Of course, young Remus couldn’t understand this. And he wanted to know what was in those woods.
All of those creatures were magic. When his mother found out what happened, she wasn’t surprised. She was horrified, yes, but not surprised. Her little boy, future king, her only heir, a werewolf. If anybody found out he’d be run out of town, or worse.
There was limited staff in the castle who knew. Just the men who’d helped put together a space to contain him. A cellar that was once for wine, emptied out, the wooden door replaced by one made of steel. As long as Remus had somewhere to go at night, so he wasn’t out attacking the towns people, it was a problem solved.
Other than his furry little problem Remus’ upbringing was rather normal for a prince. He attended lessons and social events, watching his father give speeches and giving a few of his own as he got older. Getting older also came with his own band of guards. Well, squires until they were deemed capable enough to defend the royal family with their life.
With Remus’ help, the three squires became knights in no time. Well, it was Sir James and Sir Sirius first, Peter was just a late bloomer. Sirius became Remus’ personal guard; James and Peter just happened to always be around. If anybody tried to scold them for being with the prince instead of actually doing their job, all Remus had to do was show his face and they’d shut up instantly.
Of course, these boys had no idea about Remus’ furry little problem. It was always on the night of the full moon that Sirius had to himself, another guard that knew about Remus watching the metal door.
Yes, the boys were smart, but they couldn’t figure this one out, not at first. Well, it wasn’t really something they thought about. It was a night Sirius had off and they all took it to rest (since most nights were staying up in front of the fire cracking jokes or planning pranks on the other members of staff. Since he was the future king, Remus couldn’t join in with the pranks, but he could help plan them. Nobody knew he was the real master of the operation.)
When Remus was eighteen years old, soon to be nineteen, his parents called him to the throne room. He was exhausted, bags under his eyes and a fresh scar down his arm. Most scars were covered up of course, except for the unfortunate few on his face.
“Remus,” his father started, grimacing at the scars on his sons face. Remus couldn’t stop himself from shrinking away. Yes, his father would never want to make him feel self conscious, but he couldn’t stop the way those scars made him feel.
“Your mother and I have been talking.”
“And we have decided it’s time we step down, moved out of this castle and into Huxton Manor,” his mother finished. Don’t let the name fool you, Huxton Manor was a castle. It was only slightly smaller than the one they were in now, one the family used to holiday in whe Remus was a boy, before his furry little problem began.
Remus’ face paled further. “What are you trying to tell me?” He asked and took a careful step back.
“We think it’s time you marry.”
In truth Remus already had two loves of his life. Of course, although James and Sirius felt the same, they didn’t know how Remus felt. They’d confided in each other on one drunken night, might’ve even kissed each other, but nobody could remember.
And now Remus’ parents wanted to bring in someone from the outside.
Panic shot through him.
“Remus, we’re sorry,” his mother said and stepped down from the dais. “But with your… condition we can’t have you rule alone.”
“But I’m not alone!” Remus protested. “I have James and Sirius!”
Lyall shook his head. “You need an heir and to get that heir you need a wife.” He looked down at his son in a way he never had before, with stern eyes. "I have an old friend, a king from a neighbouring kingdom and he claims his daughter is wayward. He wants to settle her down before she tarnishes their family name or gets herself killed. I mentioned that your mother and I were looking into naming you king and the pieces fell into place."
"Father, you can't be-" Remus heard a snickering from somewhere behind him, one that stopped him from finishing his sentence.
"She will arrive by morning."
Sirius’ snickering stopped. That was when Remus realised just everything James and Sirius had heard. Already in pain from what he had heard, he couldn’t imagine how they must’ve been feeling.
***
There was so much Y/N wanted to do before she died or was married off. Either way, it was the same thing in her eyes. When she broke into the underground family vault just to see if she could, that was the last straw.
A week later she was in a carriage going too fast for her to jump out, with a guard either side of her, and two guards either side.
“How about we stop for a drink in the next tavern,” She offered, her feet up on the cushioned seat opposite her. One of the guards glared at her and pushed her feet from the seat. Y/N took that as a no and rolled her eyes.
Every five minutes she asked to stop for a drink or something to eat. Every time the guards said nothing and Y/N would turn back to the window. But this was her way of coping; cracking jokes and irritating those around her.
In no time at all she made it to the castle the Lupin family presided in. It was twice the size of Y/N’s own with walls and turrets and archers and guards, the likes of which Y/N had never seen. In a place like this she’d never get kidnapped. What a nice break this would be.
And then she remembered why she was here. Oh yeah, the wedding. A guard touched her back to push her forward, and Y/N went limp, falling back into the guard. He grunted as he caught her and stood her upright. “Nice try,” he muttered and got her walking towards the steps of the castle.
Of course, there was nobody to greet her as she got to the huge doors. Her carriage driver snapped the reins and moved the carriage around to the coach house. She shivered as only one of the doors swung open in front of her. Stepping through those doors, her fate would be sealed. Her guards held out their arms, reading her body language.
They, along with serving boys belonging to her new family, led her through the long hallways, past the terrifying pictures of the kings and queens of the past. They led her all the way through the castle until she was standing awkwardly in front of the king and queen.
Y/N rocked on her heels, until her lady pinched her side, stilling her. She sent Lily, her lady, an apologetic look and looked at the King and Queen. It was the night of a full moon, coincidentally, and, at that moment, Remus was being chained up by the best friends he was completely in love with. But Y/N didn’t need to know any of that.
She curtseyed, the way she was taught to, while rolling her eyes. But it was discreet and almost everybody but Lily missed it. “We’re very sorry our son can’t be here to greet you himself,” said the Queen as Y/N straightened up.
Y/N didn’t quite know how to respond. The fact that she was here to marry Prince Remus was one of the last things she was to know about before she took the journey up here. And now he wasn’t even here to say a brief hello. She couldn’t say anything though, knowing exactly how he must’ve been feeling.
“We know it’s late,” the king began. “And we will let you get to your room. We know our son is eager to meet you so, rest up, and we shall see you in the morning.”
Even this, the way the king spoke, was rather informal, something Y/N wasn’t used to. Well, she was, but not from a member of the royal family. From her old bar buddies.
She then remembered the speech her father had prepared for her. “Your majesties,” she said, nodding at the both of them. “My father and I are very grateful for your hospitality. My short journey through your country has already been so wonderful and I am looking forward to seeing the rest of it. My father is hoping to be here in three months time and we are all excited to be a part of this family.”
At that, Lyall smiled. He could recognise something that Y/N had not written. The fathers had written to each other almost every day, talking about parenting. Of course, Lyall had missed out on all the important things.
“Please, make  yourself at home.”
They had servants bring her things up. Y/N laid in bed, in her sheer chemise, listening to the sounds of the castle. Howls and growls and grunts. For the first time in her life, Y/N was terrified. She was in unfamiliar lands with unfamiliar people and creatures.
And she had yet to meet her fiancé to be.

I had too much coffee while I’m writing this-
This is like small oneshots so...
Anyways! Enjoy and have a great day!
Tumblr media
You walked down the empty street, carrying a small basket as you slowly approached your home. You looked at the moonlight as you walked humming to yourself. Instantly a hand grabbed your wrist and pulled you into an alley.
“Give me all your valuables…” He said, causing you to shiver. You didn’t say anything which caused him to slam you against the wall.
“I said give me all your stuff you damn pessant!”
“O-okay! Please d-dont hurt me!” You shouted, taking off anything that was worth something.
“I won’t have to hurt you if you give me what I want!”
“It's not nice to hurt a lady.” A boy jumped down. He had dark, choppy hair but I couldn’t see his eyes. In his back pocket, he started to pull out what looked like a kitchen knife.
“Hehe… and who the hell are you kid?” the stranger asked.
“I’m the prince and future king!” The boy's red eyes shot up at us “Prince Amane and I demand you let this girl go!”
The strange back way from your figure, a scared expression on his face.
“Whatever man! You're crazy!!” He yelled before running out of the alley. The ‘prince’ approached you and smiled.
“I hope he didn’t do anything too bad to you” He softly spoke, putting out a hand for you to grab which you accepted. You studied his facial features and he laughed.
“Checking me out already I see~” He cooed and you blushed.
“N-no! I’m just making sure you are the prince and not some random homeless guy!” You said flustered.
“Haha, I’m just teasing… and I am the prince, isn’t it obvious?” He smirked. You looked at his clothes which were basically glowing.
“I’ll walk you home.” He pulled you out of the alley.
“Okay…”
I turned to Amane and he was looking up at the moon with a soft smile on his face.
“Uhm… do you like the stars..?” You asked.
“I do, I love them so much. They are really a great escape from reality.” He looked at you momentarily before looking back up.
“Escape?”
“Yeah… you know I’m becoming king soon… My parents have been really strict with me about becoming a king and all…” He trailed off into a small rant “It's just stressful sometimes, I don't want to be a king but everyone expects me too.” Your eyes softened looking at the boy.
“I think you will be a great king some day!” You smiled.
He turned to you and his face flushed slightly.
“I-I shouldn’t rant!” He nervously chuckled looking back up. “The moon is beautiful tonight...”
Soon you two approached your house.
“This is my stop Amane!” You smiled and turned to the boy. “And… I think you will be a great king! King of the stars and moon! I think you will do great! I believe in you King Amane Yugi!”
His cheeks turned warm as he heard you.
“Thank you… it really does mean a lot…”
“Of course, I should be going inside now. Thanks for earlier-” You were interrupted when he grabbed your wrist. A grin formed on his lips and he broke the distance and kissed your cheek. Your face turned 50 shades red.
“A good luck charm for you~” He chuckled at your flustered form.
“H-huh?!?!” He let go of your arm and waved to you.
“By Y/n! I know we will see each other very soon~” He said before vanishing.
‘Wait… how did he know my name..?’
Tumblr media
You looked up at the bright sun and squinted your eyes. Your feet were tired. You are currently running to the marketplace with your best friend, Yashiro. Well, more like she was dragging you.
“Come on y/n!!! Prince Teru doesn’t go out too often to go shopping!!” The creamed haired girl squealed. She had a bit of a crush on the prince… well I mean of course, who wouldn’t want to be a princess. I almost fell on my face when she started to pick up the pace.
“Slow down Nene!” You yelled at her “He’s going to be here for a while, it won't matter if we are a couple minutes late!”
“I know but I want to look at his beautiful face as long as I can!”
‘Simp…’ You thought and puffed your cheeks. Yashiro suddenly stopped which caused you to almost fall backward.
“There he is!!” Hearts filled her eyes. You looked to see the blond haired boy surrounded by a couple knights and a small swarm of people.
“Why does Teru even want to go to the marketplace..?” You asked and Yashiro put her hand to your mouth.
“Fanservice!” She looked at you seriously causing you to sweetdrop. You looked at the blond boy and watched his figure as he looked through different stands. Every once and a while he would slip something in his bag and pay the owner of the small shack. For a brief second he looked over to you and made eye contact. You couldn’t help but blush and he chuckled and turned back to what he was doing.
“Let's get closer!” Yashiro grabbed your hand and started running again.
“N-Nene-!” You started but was interrupted when someone abruptly bumped your shoulder causing you to fall.
“ACK- Ow!” You rubbed the back of your head and everything went silent. All you heard was small murmuring. In confusion, you looked up to see a small crowd around you.
“Are you okay?” A majestic voice asked. You looked up to see the one and only prince Teru with his hand out for you to grab.
“A-ah! Yea, I’m fine..!” Your cheeks slightly turned red due to the embarrassment but you stuck out your hand for him to take. He pulled you up with a firm but gentle grip. You looked down at his hand, it felt warm and soft.
“Well, that’s good.” He chuckled. “Are you here with anybody?”
“I a-am actually… with my friend Yashiro…” You looked over to see Nene with a red face and stars in her eyes.
“Oh well then, I’ll let you get going now. Bye!” He waved and continued on.
‘Did you just talk to a prince?!!?!” You shouted in your head. Before you could think anymore, you felt someone shake you.
“Y/N YOU TALKED TO TERU!!! PRINCE TERU!!! WHAT DID HIS EYES LOOK LIKE?! WHAT DID HIS HANDS FEEL LIKE!? TELL ME!!”
“Lavender and the ocean…” You said in a daze.
“LAVENDER AND THE OCEAN?!?!”
Once Teru finished his monthly market shopping, Yashiro was finally ready to leave. You went home and changed into a more comfy outfit. You opened your balcony and breathed in the fresh air. You heard rustling and looked down to the noise. You started to back up until a figure emerged from the shadows. You were about to run back inside until you started to recognize him.
“Hey.” The prince looked up at your balcony.
“U-uhm… hi..?” You looked down “You want me to let you in!?”
“Oh I can come in!” He smiled brightly.
“Yeah! Let me get the door-” You were interrupted when a line of red beads acted like a hook landing next to you. The prince used these beads to climb up to the balcony.
“Y/n, right?”
“Yeah! And you are Prince Teru!” He laughed when you said prince. He took his red beads and they turned into a bracelet around his wrist.
“WOAH! How did you do that?!?!” You gasped, grabbing his wrist and examining it.
“Magic.”
“Magic?!”
He laughed.
“You are very interesting y/n…” He looked into your eyes. Before you could say anything else, you heard a knock on your door. You turned to see your mom opening the door and Teru leaning on a wall not wanting to get caught. You turned to him and he had one finger over his mouth.
“Y/n, who are you talking too?” Your mother opened the door.
“Oh! Uhm, no one!” You nervously smiled.
“Alright… But if it's one of those imaginable men again…” She sighed and closed the door.
“EXCUSE ME?!!?” I blushed hard “I DON'T HAVE IMAGINABLE MEN! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!” You heard Teru laugh which made you face him.
“Hey, a young lady shouldnt be inviting boys in her house if her parents don’t know about them…” Teru smirked, causing you to blush hard.
“E-excuse me! I’m not the one who put my finger up to my mouth telling me to keep it a secret!” You pointed at him and he laughed.
“I’m joking. I would never hurt you, I swear.” He walked closer to you. You felt comfortable around him. You two spent the night chatting and laughing. It’s been around one hour and Teru looks up at the moon.
“It's about time I get going…” He started to take off his red bracelet and tied it around the balcony. You were kind of sad when he said he was going to leave.
“Oh… will I see you again..?” You watched him go down. He stopped and looked up at you.
“I’ll be here tomorrow night. Same time. Kay?”
“O-Okay! See you tomorrow!”
Did you seriously meet the prince?

You walked around the village as you looked through all the stands. You hummed to yourself as your dress flowed in the wind. You stopped when you heard screaming from one of the booths.
“Stop!! Thief!!” The owner screamed as he tried to chase after a boy. He was wearing a hood so you didn’t get a good look at his face. Before you know it, you made eye contact with the hooded boy and he ran behind you.
“Do you know this thief?!” The guy asked before glaring down at the boy. Even though he was wearing a hood, you could see his visible grin.
“U-uh- no sir! But what did he take..?” You asked.
“He stole an apple and pear from my shack!”
‘All this fuss over an apple and pear..?’ You thought as you sighed. You pulled out two coins from your bag and gave it to the man.
“That looks like it covers it… keep the change.” You grabbed the boy's hand and sped away.
You glanced at the boy who still had a grin on his face. Before you knew it he started running and he was dragging you.
“W-wait!” You shouted at him. Who the hell is this guy..?
He turned the corner into an isolated area and let go of your wrist.
“Hey! You know I did pay for your shenanigans!” You pulled his hood down to see a boy with choppy hair and golden eyes. He chuckled and leaned in closer to your face. He looked familiar but you didn’t know where from.
“Thanks for that by the way~” He hummed.
“Yeah whatever..!” You backed up, creating distance between the two of you.
“I’m Tsukasa Yugi! Prince Tsukasa Yugi!” He smiled.
“Wait, the prince?!” I pointed to him “Why the hell would a prince steal?!”
“I just wanted to see what he would do it I took some of his stuff”
‘Wow… he seems nice…’ You thought.
“You can take the apple and pear though! I don’t really need them.” He handed you the fruit.
“EH- you steal it but you won’t take it?” You scoffed. “Aren’t you afraid of getting caught? You are a prince”
“Yeah but everyone looks at Amane, I can do whatever I want and get away with it~!”
“I feel bad for Amane then…”
“I got an idea!” He looked at you. “We should run away together! It would be great!”
“Excuse me…” I glared at him.
“Well that's what I was already doing, I was running away but no one in the castel noticed yet. We should run away, just you and me!”
“I didn’t even know you that long… I can’t just run away! I have a life, a family!”
“Oh…” He trailed off “Well I do hope you change your mind! I’ll come visit you again~!”
“Wait- visit me?!” You asked but he ran out of the alley way.
“Thank you beautiful girl~!” He smiled, turning to you one last time before running off with an apple in his hand.
“Did he take the apple-” I looked down to just see the pear.
‘Oh this guy…’ I sighed ‘I’ll definitely see him again.’

——————————————————————————
The next few months passed like a blur. You and Chenle hadn’t gone a single day without seeing each other and your happiness radiated throughout the whole kingdom. As well as spending time together, you also had your individual duties, with Chenle training with the knights and you attending council hearings and shadowing your mother.
The only dark cloud that hung over you, was your father’s health.
In the months since his injury, he still hadn’t recovered. The castle doctors couldn’t understand what the problem was. The wound had been treated with disinfectant and cared for with the utmost care, and it appeared as though it had healed. Yet, your father could barely get out of bed.
He was weak, his eyes were duller skin had less colour than normal, and you were worried. It became clear that the blade had been laced with some kind of poison, something that was intended to kill the king from the inside out. For a while you had thought that he would just be weakened, but as his health began to deteriorate once again, and you knew that he didn’t have long left.
Chenle had become a pillar of support for your mother while your father struggled. He had attended countless meetings and sessions, and provided her with advice when she asked for it. Anybody could see that he was someone she relied on and trusted with every fibre of her being.
You drew your eyes away from your mother and once again regarded the papers in front of you, tuning your ears back into the councilman who was speaking.
“By increasing taxes we can afford to pay for the renovations for the lower towns. We’ll need to purchase some materials from travelling merchants in order to deter the bandits from making more attacks. But this money will be to bring in specialists who can build the defences.”
Your mother sighed, reading the documents in her hands, reaching to sign it but Chenle’s brows furrowed and he gently stopped her hand.
“Why would we need to increase the taxes again?” He questioned, looking at the councilman who visibly swallowed under Chenle’s scrutinising gaze. “The taxes were temporarily increased in order to pay for medication for the king which hasn’t worked. I don’t think we can justify raising them again for a job that some of our own people can do.”
“The people are already giving everything they can.” You spoke up, nodding at Chenle to show your support for his objection. “If we increase the taxes, some of them may need to ration food or pick up extra jobs.”
“But this will not be a permanent raise.” The councilman argued. “This is only to ensure that the job is done properly.”
“We have some fine workmen here. Why would we hire people to do a job when we could give it to someone who is already here?” You questioned with Chenle immediately backing you up with another point after.
“Not only is that better for the economy, but it’s a solution, whereas raising taxes and bringing in external ‘specialists’ would simply create public unrest and difficulty for our people, which, in my eyes, seem to be more problems that we would then need to solve.”
Your mother placed the document back down on the table in front of her, and slid it across back to the sullen councilman.
“No.” She spoke with a quiet authority. “While your idea seemed manageable to you, it is only because you would not be the one finding solutions to the problems it causes, the Prince and Princess would. They are correct. It is not worth paying people extra to do a job that our own people can do. I want you to spread words for the work that we need done along with the salary that is offered.” Your mother gestured towards a few people on her right, who nodded at her words before she turned back towards the rest of the council. “If there are no more issues to be addressed, this concludes today’s meeting.”
When no words were spoken, the guards standing by the exit opened the large wooden doors and everyone stood. The three of you waited for the room to empty before the queen nodded at the guards again, and they shut the doors once more, this time standing on the outside of it.
“Well, that ran for longer than expected.” Your mother muttered, turning back to the two of you. “Thank you for speaking up.”
After receiving a smile and nod from both you and Chenle she turned and began to walk away, the smile slowly dropping off your face as you watched her go. She still held herself high, walking with the power that a queen would, but there was a heaviness that followed her wherever she went. It was as if she was struggling to make it through the day.
Chenle’s hand squeezed your shoulder lightly.
“She’s just worried about your father.” He murmured, stepping forwards to wrap an arm fully around your shoulders. “Like I am about you.”
You leaned back into him, resting your head against his shoulder and sighed.
“i’ll be fine.” You reassured him, turning around and wrapping your arms lightly around his waist as he leant down to briefly touch his forehead to yours. “I just... I’ve never seen her like this. She’s always been so strong, so sure of everything she does, and now, it’s like, as my father dies, so does some part of her. I feel like I’m losing them both at the same time, and I’m not ready for it.”
Chenle nodded, taking in your words and listening intently. He leaned in, placing a soft kiss on your forehead.
“I know it’s difficult watching them like this, it’s difficult for me too, but all we can do is be there for her, and offer her the support that your father can’t anymore.” You closed your eyes and nodded, Chenle’s words comforting you.
“You’re right. I know you’re right I just need reminding sometimes.”
Chenle nodded, placing a kiss on your cheek.
“Hey, we have some free time and I think the music room is free.” He suggested, his eyebrows raised in anticipation and you grinned in response, grabbing his hand and leading him out of the hall.
---
Chenle’s fingers danced over the piano, expertly playing the ending to the song the two of you had just sung. This place was a safe space. A place where it was just the two of you and you could forget about the countless things kept you from falling asleep at night.
The final note echoed around the otherwise empty room, and you gently shut your eyes, listening as it faded into nothingness. When you reopened your eyes, you found Chenle already looking at you. For a moment the two of you just stared at each, the silence comforting enough with words unnecessarily interrupting it.
The silence eventually grew thin and you began to think of something to say, a phrase that would match the perfection of this moment in time. Luckily for you, Chenle seemed to have a different idea on what to say, which was limited to saying nothing.
He quickly leant in, closing the short distance between the two of you and pressing his lips to yours. You kissed him back, smiling into the kiss and moving your hand up to his cheek.
“What was that for?” You asked him, the grin on your face mirrored on his.
Chenle shrugged.
“I just felt like it.” He leaned in again, placing a much softer peck on your lips before standing up.
He offered you a hand which you took, standing as well and adjusting your long dress as you did. Chenle kept a hold of your hand, using it to bring you closer to him.
“You know, one day we should get someone else to play for us.” He suggested as you raised your eyebrows.
“Is that so?” You asked as he nodded nonchalantly.
“Yep, because that way I can do this with you to someone else’s music.” He grabbed your waist lightly with his other hand and began to gently sway the two of you.
Your body reacted on instinct, moving your free hand to his shoulder and you couldn’t stop the giggle that left you when your mind registered what you were doing.
The two of you gently danced around the room, covering ground yet never looking away from each other. Chenle turned you in a dramatic spin before dipping you as you both cracked up. The sound of footsteps echoed down the corridor, causing Chenle to pull you back up into a standing position.
The two of you shared a knowing look, predicting what was about to happen. And, just as you had thought, your lady in waiting appeared in the corner, informing you of the time. You nodded at her words that your father was asking for you and you turned back towards Chenle, pulling on his hand to guide him out of the door.
“I’ll see you later?” You asked.
“Of course.” Chenle replied, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Don’t forget to ask your father about us visiting the villages!”
Your eyes widened slightly at that, the thought having slipped your mind. You thanked him, promising to remember and you both walked your separate ways.
---
Chenle wandered the halls of the castle, not walking anywhere in particular and not really focusing on where he was going. He had become so familiar with these passages that he could get to any room on muscle memory alone.
He still remembers the time he got lost in the North quarter in his early days here. He’d been thinking about meeting you, and somehow taken the wrong turn, leaving it up to you to come and find him. Chenle chuckled to himself as he remembered the state of panic he had been in.
He sometimes found himself missing those early days, when everything was new and he was seeing these things for the first time. But if he was being honest, the only thing that Chenle wanted to do again for the first time, was meet you, to get to know you and learn about you all over again. To fall in love with you all over again.
Sometimes Chenle dreamt about taking you back to Shanghai, showing you off to his people and touring you around the castle he grew up in. Maybe even coming to find you when you got lost this time. But that couldn’t happen, not now at least. You couldn’t afford to leave the Queen in this state, not while the king was so fragile.
One day, Chenle promised. One day, he would show you his home.
The clanging sound of swords clashing drew him out of his thoughts and Chenle realised he was walking towards the training grounds. He let his feet carry him across the grass and he came to a stop, standing on the side of the training grounds, watching Jisung, Jaehyun and Taeyong training some new knights in swordplay.
Jisung noticed him watching, sending him a nod in acknowledgement, which Chenle returned. Jisung looked at the knight in front of him and Chenle could see the cockiness radiating off him from where he was standing.
Taeyong and Jaehyun came to stand beside Chenle, both of them patting him on the shoulder and bumping his elbow in greeting.
“They’re not a bad bunch.” Taeyong told him, referring to the new knights. “Lots of potential, they just need to get it in their heads that this isn’t all glory. That one facing Jisung now, he’s the best out of this group.”
Chenle nodded, tilting his head as he caught the end of what Jisung was saying.
“You can’t fight for something you don’t believe in.”
The knight who was facing off Jisung scoffed, making all of the knights watching raise their eyebrows in disbelief at his attitude.
“You can when you’re as skilled as I am.” The young knight retaliated, clearly attempting to show off to his friends. “I can fight for nothing and I’ll still win.”
“No.” Chenle spoke up, making all eyes turn on him as he began to walk towards them. “You’ll lose.” The jaws of knights who were training all dropped slightly at the sight of their Prince. Ever since the battle and his coronation, Chenle had been extremely well respected around the kingdom and that respect had only been going up with his close relationship with the queen. “You’ll always lose.”
Chenle stepped forward so that he was standing in front of the group of knights, standing at Jisung’s side. Jisung reached out, offering him a sword which Chenle took with a small but grateful smile.
“Those who fight without belief can never win. Because it’s that belief, that passion, that trust in what you’re fighting for that gives you strength when you need it most. The picture of what you love most in this world appears in your head and you know that, for that thing you love, you can fight for as long as you need to. Those who fight with a cause don’t fight because they have to, they fight because they want to. Because they have something worth fighting for.”
The knights were rendered speechless by the end of Chenle’s short speech. All of them, including the cocky youngster at the front nodded rapidly in understanding. Jisung gave some new commands to pair up with a trainer as some of the more experienced knights, including Jaemin and Jeno arrived. Chenle immediately began to help out, demonstrating moves and tricks to the boy he was assigned to.
He didn’t notice or hear Taeyong lean over to Jaehyun and speak a quiet sentence which Jaehyun nodded in agreement with.
“Spoken like a true King.”
---
You had never been so relieved to have switched out your usual floaty dresses for a pair of trousers today. You and Chenle had headed down to one of the kingdom’s outlying villages for the day in order to help them rebuild it. When you had visited your father the day before, you’d asked for his permission and his words were still echoing in your head today.
“My dear, even if I didn’t give you permission you would be going down there anyway. And I know that because I know you, and I know what you’re willing to do. Now let me tell you, no one needs permission to care about someone else or to help them. This goes beyond being a good queen, this is being a good person.”
It was the last thing he said before you left the room. Your father had a habit of leaving you with words that stayed with you for a while. It was as if he had a goal of giving you a piece of wisdom every time you talked.
You reached for another plank of wood, passing it up to Chenle who grabbed it and began to move it into the right place on the roof. You had been working hard for a couple of hours and you were beginning to tire. Your muscles were aching, but you refused to stop, knowing how much this would help the people living in this village.
You reached down for another plank, your fingers grasping at empty air as you realised that was the final one. You shouted the news up at Chenle before moving to sit on a nearby grassy slope. Chenle climbed down from the ladder he was on and flopped down in a heap next to you.
“You’ve never been more graceful.” You commented sarcastically.
“Thank you.” He replied without missing a beat. “You know, you should wear trousers more often, they look good.”
“I doubt my mother would approve.” You laugh as Chenle chuckled too.
“You’re probably right.” He agreed, before lifting his hand and pointing towards the crops. “Also, we should do something about the fence.”
Your eyes followed his finger to see that the fence around one of the fields had caved in, falling over the crops and stunting their growth.
“Yes, definitely. We could also put up a boundary around some of the houses. Maybe give them extra protection or places to store weapons. We should also install some trap doors if we can to give them a place to hide crops so that, if bandits come again and there’s no one here to protect them, they don’t lose everything they have.”
“Good idea.”
You and Chenle kept chatting, exchanging ideas and making plans of building that you would pitch to your parents. Chenle was just beginning the idea of training some of the young farm boys in basic combat when you suddenly put your hand on his chest, stopping him talking immediately.
He looked at you in confusion until he heard what you were hearing. Galloping hooves, horses getting closer and closer with each passing second. You both scrambled for your weapons, prepared to defend these people from the bandits you assumed were approaching with everything you had, when a single horse rounded the corner and approached you.
You recognised the man sitting upon it as the royal messenger.
“You’re needed back at the castle, immediately.” The urgency in his voice made you move quickly, sheathing your sword and mounting Obsidian. Chenle followed your actions also managing to ask the exact question that you were too afraid too.
“Why? What’s this about?”
“The King.”
---
You galloped all the way back to the castle, not slowing down for a second. Chenle was close behind you, the messenger somewhere further back, his horse too tired from the journey to the village to keep up with your desperate pace. You couldn’t describe the panic you felt in your chest. It was driving every move you made, encouraging you to go even faster. You urged Obsidian on, your horse grunting as he poured even more speed into his legs.
You heard Chenle do the same with Aspen, determined to keep up with you no matter what. You both approached the castle without losing speed, the guards at the gates running out of your way. You were forced to pull Obsidian to a slower pace as you made your way towards the castle doors. The stable hands rushed out to meet you and you jumped off and ran straight through the doors, ignoring everyone in your way.
By this point you didn’t know if Chenle was still behind you, and you didn’t have it in you to slow down and find out as you raced towards your parents quarters. You finally reached their room, threw open the doors and stared at the scene in front of you.
You barely heard Chenle’s footsteps as he arrived behind you, but you did feel his arms catching you as your knees gave out.
Your father was dead.
---
The funeral was the next day.
The night of his death, the citizens of your kingdom had stood in the courtyard of the palace and held candles, all of them wearing black out of respect. Your mother, Chenle and yourself went out to thank them and it took everything in you not to fall apart.
After thanking the people, you headed back inside. You went straight to your room, Chenle following you no matter how much you protested. Eventually you turned on him, demanding to know why he wouldn’t let you be. He took a step towards you, reaching up to move a small piece of hair out of your face before softly telling you.
“I don’t want you to feel alone.”
That was all it took to break you. You fell into his arms, crying about your father for the first time since you’d learnt of his death. Chenle had stayed with you the whole night, keeping you company and holding you close. He never let you go, not even for a moment.
The funeral was at night. It was a tradition of your kingdom for each living member of the royal family to say their private goodbyes to the deceased. This is for the people closest to them to say goodbye to his spirit. Chenle had gone first, then you and finally, your mother. Then, after the sun sets and the moon rises, you would come together with the people of your kingdom and say goodbye to his body.
You smoothed the non-existent wrinkles out of your dress, checking your hair one last time to make sure it was perfect. You caught the sight of Chenle in your mirror, watching you with a sad smile. He saw you return his smile with an attempt of one of your own and Chenle swore he felt his heart break slightly. Watching the woman he loved getting dressed for her fathers funeral was, to say the least, not a fun sight.
He offered a hand to you, and you shakily took it. You made to leave your room, but Chenle gently squeezed your hand and you paused, looking up at him. He didn’t say anything, yet somehow managed to have a whole conversation with you.
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, feeling your heart rate calm slightly. Chenle intertwined your fingers, and you both headed out to the funeral.
You were standing on the river side, watching as the small boat your father’s body lay on was carried down. He was dressed in his best clothes, his arms resting on his chest, with his sword in his hands. His eyes were closed and he looked as though he was sleeping. Peace painted across his face for the first time in the many months since the battle. As heartbreakingly painful as losing your father was, there was comfort in knowing that he finally got the rest that he deserved.
The river was decorated with flowers, stray petals and floating candles. Citizens stood beside you, all of them holding a light weight lantern like your own. The soft yellow lights reflected off the river. You knew that your father would have loved how beautiful it all was. He had an eye for those kinds of things.
You moved down the river with the body, following it on it’s journey until the river began to spread out. The people fanned out, forming lines as they watched their king drift off into the distance. Your mother lifted her arms to the sky, showing off her lantern and shouted.
“From this life to his next life. May the king rest in peace.”
“May the king rest in peace.” You repeated, along with every other person present. Only you and Chenle were close enough to hear her whisper.
“Goodbye my love.” And with that she let go of her lantern, watching as it sailed off into the air.
All the people around you followed her example, releasing their floating lanterns into the sky. They spoke to them, saying something to their king before letting them fly.
You looked down at your own, trying to think of what your last words to your father should be. You bit your lip and leaned in closer to it and whispered quietly.
“Goodbye father, I love you.”
You let go.
---
You rolled over in your bed, unable to sleep. Ever since your father’s funeral you’d struggled with falling asleep, your mind too busy to let your body rest. You groaned, throwing the covers off you as you stared up at your ceiling.
Chenle had been keeping you company often, staying by your side, making sure you were alright, and it meant the world to you. You’d begun to find yourself missing him all the time he wasn’t with you, even if he’d just left your side a second ago.
You swung your legs off your bed, knowing you weren’t going to be getting any sleep here. The doors creaked slightly as you opened them, making you wince at the sound. You slipped out of them, shutting them behind you as you made your way through the castle.
You reached Chenle’s room quickly, knocking on the door lightly before going inside. His room was similar to yours in size, and you loved the odd decorations he had that had come with him from Shanghai. The red and gold tapestry that hung on the wall by the door was your personal favourite. You ran your fingers over it gently as you quietly called out for Chenle.
He didn’t reply so you moved further into his room. You turned and stopped when you saw where he was. His balcony. The door to it was shut so you caught his attention when you opened it to join him. He whispered a quiet hello to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders as he pulled you close.
You leant your head on his shoulder as you wrapped your arms around his bare torso and the two of you looked out over the scenery. From this position the two of you could see almost the entire lower town. There were odd yellow squares where you could tell someone’s light was on, but for the most part the town was shrouded in moonlight.
It almost looked too good to be true.
“Are you not cold?” You asked him as a breeze blew past the two of you, worried for you shirtless boyfriend.
“Not really, it gets colder than this in Shanghai, I guess I’m just used to it.” Chenle muttered, his eyes never leaving the scene in front of him. “Couldn’t sleep?” You shook your head sighing as he reassured you. “It’ll come, you just need some time. It’s hard, being in front of the people you have to be a ruler, you can’t show your emotion, especially not with how your mother is struggling. But things will get better. We’ll fix up the outlying villages, we’ll finish some of the tasks your father had hoped for and you’ll get closure. I promise.”
You nodded, feeling more relaxed already. Another breeze ripped through the two of you, causing Chenle to shiver.
“Okay, maybe now I’m cold.” He admitted, reaching behind him to open the door and bring you both back inside. You laughed as you followed him, happily embracing the warmth that his room provided.
You shut the door behind the two of you before following Chenle to his bed. He was already lying down in it, waiting for you with his arms open. You smiled at the sight of him, thinking how you could get used to seeing that. You climbed into his bed, setting down on his chest as he began to run his fingers through your hair.
You nestled your head into his neck, feeling him giggle when you placed feather light kisses on the skin there.  Your hand came up to rest on his chest, your fingers softly tracing the scar from his stab wound. You ran your finger down the healed injury, following every pattern as Chenle watched.
The scare wasn’t huge, but it wasn’t small either. It was about 2 inches in length right in the place his shoulder meets his chest. You looked back up at him, another smile stretching across your face. Chenle’s spare hand came to rest on your shoulder, hugging you close to him and he pulled you in to kiss you.
You sighed into the kiss, feeling yourself tire for the first time that night. Chenle felt this too, quietly telling you to sleep when you both pulled away. You rested your head back in his neck before taking a deep breath. The only sign you were still awake was the small movements of your fingers lovingly tracing his scar.
Chenle shut his eyes as he kissed the top of your head, listening to your breathing even out. It was obvious you were close to falling asleep, just managing to whisper out a soft “I love you.” before you drifted off.
It wasn’t the first time you had said it, but no matter how many times Chenle heard it, the warm feeling that blossomed in his chest had never faltered. He couldn’t stop himself from smiling, from being reminded just how completely in love with you he was. And he knew that you were the one he wanted to be with.
“I love you too.” Chenle replied. “More than you’ll ever know.”
Chenle had lost track of how many times he’d thanked fate for bringing him here. For your kingdom to choose his to make an alliance with. For being the one chosen to marry you. Chenle had known for his entire time here that he would marry you, but he had never been so grateful for it as he was in this moment.
---
Within the month since the king’s death, the kingdom was back to normal. You’d buried yourself in your work, taking on more responsibilities to help your mother, finding comfort in finishing the projects your father had started and supported. Chenle had been right, you’d found closure in finishing his work, in making sure that his wishes were fulfilled, and you were finding yourself moving on.
You still missed him everyday, and you found it difficult at times to finish the work he’d started, knowing how much he would have wanted to see it. But, you were finally looking towards the future, and you knew that he would be relieved at that. He always told you “A good queen ignores the tough times and puts on a happy face for her people. But a true queen, acknowledges when times are hard, and encourages the kingdom to work through it together.” And those were the words you lived by.
You and Chenle had become loved public figures with the whole kingdom being thrilled with the strength of your relationship. It was a sign of hope, of solidarity, of new life in a time where they had been surrounded by loss.
Chenle strolled through the marketplace, his heart beating hard as he turned the gift he had just bought you over in his hands. It wasn’t, by any means, his first time buying you a gift, but he knew that this would be the most important gift he would ever buy.
He quickly made his way back to his room, Jisung waiting for him outside it when he finally arrived. Chenle ignored his friend’s questions, bringing him inside instead.
“You’re late.” Jisung said when Chenle let him speak.
“Yeah, I know, sorry.” Chenle apologised without really meaning it. His nerves were showing through his voice and it was confusing Jisung as to what gift the boy had bought. “I had to visit the royal jeweller to pick this up.”
“What is it?” Jisung asked, leaning over as if he could see into Chenle’s hands.
“It’s just a small gift for y/n.”
“Yes but what is it?” Jisung asked again exasperated, rolling his eyes at his friend’s density.
“This.” Chenle opened the box the gift was in, Jisung’s jaw dropping at the sight of it. His eyes shot from the jewellery back up to Chenle and back down to the jewellery again as he managed to form a single sentence through his shock.
“That’s an engagement ring.”
---
You were sitting on the cliff overlooking the citadel, your favourite place in the kingdom. Chenle was next to you, the two of you sitting in comfortable silence as you watched the bustle of life in your kingdom below you.
“Do you ever get nervous as to how things will change once we’re crowned?” You asked suddenly, the question hanging dangerously heavily in the air.
Chenle turned to look at you, taking a second to think before he answered, the honesty clear in his voice.
“Yes.” You blinked at his response, almost expecting him to say that he wasn’t worried and everything would be fine. “I get scared about how much more pressure will be on us, especially since we’ll have closer links to Shanghai and we’ll have responsibilities there as well as here. I get worried that we won’t have as much free time, meaning we won’t get days like this anymore when it can just be the two of us. I’m scared to live up to your parents, they’re incredible people and rulers and they set such an example that going after then is kind of nerve wracking. But at the same time, I’m not scared. I’m not scared in the slightest, because I know that, through this all, I’m going to have you by my side no matter what. And if I’ve got you, then I think I can do anything.”
You moved closer to him, curling up into his side and hugging him close, the feeling of his heartbeat giving you an unmatchable comfort.
“You’re very good at those speeches you know?” You mumbled, feeling his chest shake as he chuckled.
“It comes with the job.” He joked, bringing an arm up and squeezing your shoulder.
He leant down and placed a soft kiss on your forehead, sighing into your hair before pulling away.
“We have to get back soon.” You mumbled, him groaning in response.
“Why?” He whined and you laughed in disbelief.
“I don’t know? Maybe because we’re the heirs to the throne and our presence in our kingdom is kind of necessary?” You replied sarcastically and Chenle grabbed you tighter, falling back onto the grass so that you were basically lying on top of him.
“What if we weren’t though?” He suggested, holding up a finger as he saw the look on your face. “Just imagine it for a second, me and you, a simple farming couple. Just us, our fields, our horses and peace. No council meetings, no documents to read, no speeches, no wars, nothing but peace, tranquility and us. Wouldn’t that be nice?”
“That... that really would be actually...” You said quietly, picturing the life he imagined. “The simple life, just the two of us-”
“Working in the fields during the days.”
“And cooking together at night.” You and Chenle got into a rhythm of finishing each other’s sentences, being so in tune with each other and the life you were imagining.
“Having competitions as to who can bring in the most harvest in one go.”
“Rebuilding local houses in our village.”
“Slow dancing in our kitchen late at night.”
“Waking up as the sun rises.”
“With four kids to help us out.”
“Two!”
“Three? One boy and two girls.”
“Deal.”
“And we’d get married with them all there, everyone who matters most to us, surrounded in our little paradise.”
You smiled at the sky, listening to Chenle talk about your future.
“Maybe in one life-”
“Just not this one.” He finished as you shook your head.
“Unfortunately not.” You climbed up, Chenle following as the two of you prepared to make your journey back to the castle. Chenle lifted up the final bag, placing it on Aspen as you took one last look at the view. When attaching it to his saddle, the small box, which contained the gift he’d bought earlier fell out. He quickly picked it up, his heart quickening with nerves as he turned back towards you listening to your words. “We can’t have anything from that.”
“We could have something.” He suggested as you turned around, a confused smile on your face. “I can’t give you a farm, or anything like the simple life we pictured, but I can make you happy. And I’d really love to be able to do that for a very long time.” He brought the gift in front of him, dropping to one knee and opening it.
Your jaw dropped in shock, your hands instinctively coming up to cover your mouth as tears pricked your eyes. You couldn’t believe what was happening, saying it was unexpected was an understatement. You stared at the boy you loved with all your heart as he asked the single most important question you had ever been asked in your life.
“Will you marry me?”

Maybe she cuts off her hair/dyes her hair/steals some of Brans clothes.Kinda like a Mulan AU I guess?

anyways
i hope it was worth the wait.
As the night begins to dawn, Sansa Stark finds it hard to keep both feet on the ground.
She's lovestruck, falling hard for the golden haired Baratheon prince that's been put before her. With his charming good looks and regal posture, he's enough to make any maiden's heart flutter. In truth, even now with Joffrey and his parents, the King and Queen of the Iron Throne there in her own home, she's finding it hard to believe that she, she, of all people, will be the one to marry the prince. That someday she might be a queen as beautiful as his mother, Cersei Lannister, who smiles so sweetly whenever they meet, who speaks so tenderly, who upon after the betrothal was made official, calls her daughter, as if she so truly were.
"Come my lady, let us take one last walk." It's Joffrey now, bending over his arm in a bow as he approaches where she sits among the other young ladies of Winterfell. They erupt in giggles around her as she blushes to the roots of her hair but nods all the same, reaching out her hand to take his, allowing him to help her up onto her feet. Though she glances towards her mother, who sits engaged in conversation with her father and the King himself, Joffrey tugs on her hand and she can do nothing else besides follow after him. She knows it's inappropriate for her and the prince to sneak off alone like this, but she can't help but to excitedly wonder if he means only to steal her away for a private kiss. Besides, they are to be married in only a few short weeks, so what harm would it do?
They walk together out into the moonlit night, a surprising chill to the air that sends a shiver down her spine. If Joffrey notices, he does not speak on it, rather he continues to lead her through the courtyard where only a handful of guards and nobility mingle. It was astonishing just how many people came along with the King and his family and Sansa isn't certain there would ever be a way to remember all of their names. Along the back, they step into the gardens, the darkening sky pierced by the soft white light of the moon. "I will miss the moonlight of the North," she says as they fall to a stop before the brimming fountain, her lips curving with a smile. "But I suppose I will love it all the more whenever we return."
At her words, Joffrey turns, his expression not one she's seen before. It's not confusion, but rather, it looks like anger. No, it is something far beyond anger, and it frightens her down to her very core. Startled, Sansa begins to stammer an apology, but Joffrey silences her with a wave of his hand. "Return?" He scoffs, looking from her back towards Winterfell and back again. "We'll not be returning here once we leave," he goes on, shaking his head with a scathing sort of laugh that is far more chilling than the wind had been.
"Y-your pardon, I only meant... When we visit..."
"Did you not hear me, my lady... Once we leave here in two days, we shall not be returning. Not you and certainly not me. You will be my queen and you will stay South, where you belong." A strange feeling is creeping up within her; it's cold, it's deep, and it's so very dark. There is something about the way Joffrey says this that she knows it to be true. She realizes then, quite suddenly, that if she leaves with him as intended, she will never again return to Winterfell. She swallows. This isn't right, she thinks, he musn't mean it.
"I know the North is not entirely to your pleasure, but it is my home... I can't imagine never returning," she smiles, hoping her easy going tone is not lost to the shaking of her voice. "You may even grow to enjoy it here, if you give it a chance..." To her horror, Joffrey's hands shoot up and for a single instance, she thinks he means to strike her, but rather he takes hold of her by the upper arms, his grip like a vice. "M-my lord, you're h-hurting me," she whimpers, staring up into Joffrey's blazing eyes.
He leans in close to her, as close as he might have done for the kiss she had once hoped he'd bestow upon her, and breathes a simple reply. "Bid your home farewell, sweetheart, for we ride south in the morning." His grip lessens and then, he lets go entirely, taking a single step back from where she stands. The morning? She thinks, these words sinking in, realizing now that though she'd been told it would be another day before leaving... Evidently, someone had decided that there was no need to stay another night and no one had chosen to tell her. She wonders if this is cruelty on Joffrey's part or kindness of her parents, hoping to spare her the pain of knowing it was her last night home. Either way, it matters not, because she knows there's no way she can go South.
Not ever.
As she lays in bed, Sansa can do little else but stare at the ceiling above her bed and wish to be someone else. If she were anybody else, she would not be marrying the prince, and she would not be leaving home. Sansa had tried to explain her feelings to her mother, who had merely laughed and said it was nervous jitters. I had them, too, before I married your father, Cat Stark had said as she brushed out her daughter's hair for bed one last time. The next time she brushed this head of hair, it would be for her wedding day. The longer she spent with her mother that evening, the more Sansa realized she could not simply back out of this wedding. Sansa was not a stupid girl, though Arya might have argued differently, and she knew of the trouble brewing between the families. Between the kingdoms. She's overheard enough whispers and listened to enough speculation between her brothers to know that war was a very real possibility- some said only the good friendship between the Baratheon king and their father was what kept them safe. Sansa also knows, even just from the words spoken during their betrothal, that her marriage with Joffrey solidified the peace between them.
And yet...
The longer she thinks about it, the more she knows that despite it all, she cannot ride South. She knows of the stories, the ones of what happens to Stark men that go to King's Landing... What was stopping something terrible from happening to her as well? There had to be a way, there just had to be a way to free her from this wedding and ultimately, the prison King's Landing was certain to be.
It's just as she's resigning herself to her misery that something comes to her.
One of the stories she had read as a young girl, a story of a princess taken in the dead of night by an evil lord. Said princess was to be rescued by her true love, a shining knight of virtue that rides in on his white horse. And more is coming- it's not just her that is to leave on the morrow- but Jon, as well. Jon, her bastard brother, was being sent to the wall to join the Knight's Watch. He certainly would not be her knight, but if she could somehow slip in among him and the others heading out... Yes, it might possibly work.
But if it's going to work, she must work fast, as she knows the men are set to leave before morning light. And so she leaps from her bed and pulls on her dressing robe. It is late into the night, hours still from the morning call, but there is always the fear of a guard or even her father discovering her out of bed at such an hour. But she says a silent prayer to the Old Gods and then tiptoes from her room.
When the morning call comes, she's already gone, a single note hastily scratched in writing she hopes looks entirely unlike her own penmanship.
She's been gone well over an hour by then, for just as she had planned, she manages to slip away among those leaving for the Knight's Watch. With an old cloak draped over her shoulders, she keeps the hood up, shielding from those around her the red hair she's so well known for. Before leaving, she managed to snag some old breeches and shirt from the laundry, and she's braided her hair and tucked it up as much as she could. Luckily for her, she's mostly ignored by the other men, aside from one man who growls at her when she bumps into him halfway into the morning that first day.
The group walks for hours; far longer than she's certainly ever walked at one time. She's tired and she's hungry and she hurts in places she's never hurt before. But, there is a strange sense of warmth comes over her as she settles into a place of her own, away from the others, nearer to the river that runs through the forest. With no knowledge of how to build a fire, Sansa is thankful for the warmth of the summer night and hungry as she is, realizes she's far more tired than anything else. After a sleepless night and endless walking, she will forgo food if only it means she can sleep.
And so she wanders closer to the water's edge, where there beneath the canopy of darkness, she finally lowers her hood.
From where he watches, Jon finds himself intrigued by what he sees.
He can't really say what draws him to follow the hooded figure out to the river beyond simple curioisity. But now as he watches, he sees hands pulling what certainly must be pins from hair and to his shock, long hair comes tumbling down. Now he's really curious.
And just then, a cloud above them shifts and the moonlight illuminates her.
The red hair is vibrant, the pale moonlight weaving between the strands like ribbons. He's stunned, but his foot snaps a twig all the same. When she whips around, it's steel blue eyes he finds himself staring into and Jon wonders, despite sixteen years beneath the same roof as her, he's never noticed that look within her eyes. "Sansa..." Her name is on his lips before he can stop it and he realizes now that she is quite like a deer in the crosshairs, a creature torn between fight and flight.
She can't believe this.
Her fleeting sense of safety has fled, vanished into the night the moment those Stark gray eyes settled upon her. Of course, she can't now understand how she ever expected to avoid Jon forever, but she had hoped to at least be further out than this when they did meet. "Jon," she greets, taking a step away from the river and closer to where he stands. The moonlight is bright and it illuminates Jon in a way that makes her blink, makes her think. "Please..." It's the only plea she can offer, the only words that in this moment, seem right to say.
Jon studies her for a long moment; all things considered, she must have had a good reason to come. Sansa Stark wasn't the type to just... Throw it all away without a reason. Her dream of marriage to a prince was to come true, after all. Her golden haired Prince Joffrey had arrived in Winterfell only days before; a smug, ugly sort of kid that had grown tall, taller than even Robb, but one that had stolen Sansa's heart all the same. Jon wonders what could have made her do what she'd done. "I won't," he promises suddenly, earnestly.
Her face relaxes, she smiles.
She feels safe once again and it is far warmer than it was before.

False Manipulations (Sebastian x F!Reader)
(A bit of info: this is a fantasy AU where the characters all live in a large town named 'Honocrotalus', name for pelican. Though the layout of the town is not the same from the game, it's much larger.
(There are a few OC's in here but only background characters for the plot)
Narrators POV // 12:00 pm
Y/n strolled through town swiftly, her footsteps barely emitting noise.
She'd come across many 'wanted' banners of her masked face throughout her journey and it was getting tiring.
Ever since she was a child, she'd always been on the wrong side of the family.
At least she thought so?
After years of mental, emotional and physical abuse, Y/n had ran away from a family in which kidnapped her many years ago.
This was the result of having to steal and rob from others in order to keep alive.
It all went downhill from there, she even had the blood of the innocent resting in her hands, using her own blade.
Fortunately the public hadn't known what she'd looked like, nor did they figure out her real name.
The only description being the nickname 'Rabbit' and 'a slim figure wearing an oversized black cloak covering her clothing beneath and a white rabbit mask'.
Y/n never thought the word 'slim' would be a fit description over herself...
At least in her eyes.
But of course, being on the run across the entire country had her starving a bit.
Her stomach growled and she cringed at the soft ache in her belly before sighing and staring at an abandoned sales cart and smirking.
She swiftly stole three buns off the top and stuffed them inside her cloak that had held her mask.
Since nobody knew what she looked like, Y/n was free to roam around town without a care in the world.
"Guards! Draw your swords!" A large voice echoed down the streets, many had crowded around the commotion.
Y/n pushed through in order to find three of her old bandit friends she hadn't seen in years.
One being just a child at age 13.
Her eyes widened at they fought their way through the kingdoms guards, two of the three secretly getting away while one had stayed to hold off the men.
Y/n's teeth gritted softly and she pulled up her hood, quickly putting on her mask before jumping over the crowd to help fight off the imperial guards.
Her sword drew from her scabbard and had stroked at ones shoulder before throwing it back to another right beneath his ripcage.
"N/n!?" (Nickname) The bandit yelled in surprise, obvious struggle hid between her teeth.
"Hey November! You better get to Molly and Ellie now! I'll hold them off don't worry! Elles gotten so big!" She grinned, reminiscing back to when the dirty blonde was only five.
"You sure you got this!?" November yelled in between pants and Y/n nodded with a giggle.
She smiled gratefully before leaving the masked killer to fend for herself.
She was strong enough from fighting off many in the past to get through a couple more guards before one had struck her shoulder from behind.
Y/n yelped and many were shocked to hear how feminine the murderer had sounded.
They'd been looking for her for years and they'd only now, found out she was most definitely a girl.
Just as Y/n had tried to compose her stance, another guard had broken skin right above her knee and she'd looked down in surprise before her hands were pulled behind her back.
"Shit..."
____
Currently at the Wright's castle, lunch was being held awkwardly in the large dining area of the palace.
And yet, with shock sat Sebastian next to his half sister which he'd held a different last name to, just like the rest of his family.
Sebastian McCarthy, the poor isolated boy was different and despite his family's disapprovals, wanted to catch the wanted Rabbit himself.
"What do you mean Rabbits been caught!?" He stood up from his seat, the chair scraping the floor with a trip.
One of Sebastians two knights, Sam, had barged into the dining room with the news just before.
"The other guards are bringing them to the castle now! Your majesty!?" Sam yelled in a panic, staring over to Demetrius.
He'd been king for years now and even had the family's name changed to Wright after marrying the queen, Robin.
Of course Sebastian had kept his previosus surname...
Demetrius nodded with a frown before the family had told up to meet Rabbit at the enterance hall.
"Sebastian I know you've wanted to meet him for a while now but please just go to your room" Robin said in a pleading tone.
"I'm staying here"
"Why don't you just listen to your mother-"
Just as Demetrius was about to scold his stepson for his disruptive behaviour, the castle doors opened and three guards were escorting a young woman with h/l, h/c hair and e/c eyes.
She wore an oversized cloak in which the hood was pulled down to reveal a pretty face.
They'd torn off the cloak to the ground, showing the rest of her features.
She wore a white oversized blouse where the top three buttons had been undone, black pants and a belt where the rabbit mask and an empty scabbard was held.
"Who's this?" Demetrius scoffed, belittling the knights intentions.
Sebastian slowly walked closer to the girl with a curious expression.
She stared back at him, apathetically.
"This is the Rabbit, sir.." a knight to the left of
Y/n said anxiously.
Y/n shot him an irritated glare, eyes catching Robin who eyed her carefully.
"A girl..?" The ginger uttered softly, Sebastian began to grow angry.
"I've been looking for a girl this entire time!?" He exclaimed and Robin let out a snort before turning away from the odd stares shot her way.
It had to sound pretty weird coming from Sebastian who hardly had the interest in girls.
Neither did he have an interest for boys, he had never cared for such silly distractions like love.
"This is ridiculous!" Demetrius scoffed, it was the first time Sebastian could agree with his stepfather.
"Aw shut up old man, I don't wanna hear from you either.. let the prince talk.." Y/n grinned flirtatiously, throwing eyes to Sebastian who'd eyed the sharper canines she'd had compared to his own.
If he'd known any better, he would've thought she was a vampire...
"Wh-" He stepped back and Demetrius yelled out.
"You'll be exiled faster if you wish!"
"Hey Princey, what's it like living in this place? I'm pretty sure you know but I've stolen and sold a couple things from here!"
Y/n ignoring Demetrius, instead spoke to Sebastian with love eyes casually staring into his, she was always good at manipulating others with her deceiving looks.
"You know I've always wanted to see you up close like this, what's it like seeing me so up close?"
"Watch it" Sebastian glared daggers into her head, she snickered softly.
It was amusing seeing such anger fuel up in a bit like him.
"So aggressive..." Y/n said with a smirk, she pouted softly, her stance lightly swaying.
He sneered at her, he felt as if she was mocking him, teasing him for his issues with his anger, his issues with her.
Is she crazy? Does she know who she's talking to?
"Take her to the cells" Demetrius ordered, Y/n sighed with an irritated look before she was led down into the deeper parts of the castle, ones only high ranked criminals would get to experience.
Robin had locked eyes with her as she passed by and Y/n politely nodded to her with a blank expression.
Y/n had left her pondering to herself, intrigued with the killer.
"Strange girl..."
____
"She's in there... be careful Seb, she's got a couple screws loose in there" Sam warned as his prince friend neared the cells, twirling his index finger around with the target of his head.
Sebastian only nodded back before leaving Sam behind him.
It was dark down in the cells, the room was lightly dimmed from torches which gave off the impression the room was brightened with a yellow hue.
Sebastian took a stop in front of the girls cell, the only cell which had been occupied really.
She sat in the corner on a thin, cold bed, her eyes closed.
He could hear her humming to a song he couldn't recognize.
She sat leg straight out, one bending up as she rested her arm on her knee.
Y/n knew he was there, she knew he was there a long time ago.
"Rabbit" Sebastian said, he held his ground.
Chin up, back straight..
"Hello, Prince" she grinned lazily.
Y/n opened her eyes, watching as his broad silhouette shifted in the light behind his figure.
She could see his brows furrow at the nickname.
Sebastian kept his guard, she was dangerous, he knew.
But something about her made him so intrigued with her mindset.
Why had she chosen to kill so many, why kill the innocent.
Though he couldn't care less for the village, seeing his mother so distraught with her people being mercilessly murdered, he had to admit, felt terrible.
He became obsessed with catching the culprit, the bastard who hurt his mother so deeply.
Sebastian wanted to do everything to torture and question the murderer as much as they did with the towns people.
Unfortunately, he didn't know what to do with the girl now.
Seb didn't expect a woman to come striding in, not that he was expecting much of a man either.
He was really expecting more of a monster than the pretty sight in front of him.
"Wanna join me?" Y/n asked, pulling a plate of mashed potatoes and bread towards herself, given to her by Sam as an order.
Though she was cruel and unstable, she wanted to keep her healthy.
The 'she' in question being Robin.
"I already ate" Sebastian frowned, he didn't expect her to be so calm in a situation like being locked up.
"Stay with me then? It's lonely down here" she pouted softly.
Y/n didn't miss the look of disgust on his face, it nearly made her laugh how shocked he was.
Maybe if she was still a kid, she would be hurt by the expression the prince wore.. but now it was more amusement than it ever was with anybody else.
Yoba was it satisfying watching innocent humans like Sebastian grow angry with her.
It was a sign that showed she'd successfully gotten under his skin.
"You'll eat, then I'll join you.. but I won't be here for company" Sebastian growled, Y/n nearly laughed at the mans attempt at being threatening.
It was hard to be threatened when you've killed many...
"I'll make sure to enjoy whatever you'll do to me then"

BNHA Ship to Finish the Year
FuyuSei (Todoroki Fuyumi x Iida Tensei)
Canon
I think that they would either meet by Shouto and Tenya or at the hospital.
If it was at the hospital, it would be a chance meeting. Fuyumi is visiting her mom, and Tensei is going to physical therapy. They meet in the lobby and start talking.
Present Mic and Nemuri are the ones who encourage him to ask her out. -PS: None of them knows she is the daughter of Enji yet.- After he does and they date for a few weeks, he shows them a picture, and the two almost have a heart attack. They don't know how to tell him, until Shouta comes along and says it.
If they meet by Shouto and Tenya, it probably would be at a Sport Festival or Cultural Festival. They would start talking, and Nemuri would ask Fuyumi out for him. She says yes, and they exchange numbers.
Imagine if Natsuo is there: "I got the snacks. What's that?" "Oh, a phone number. I have a date this Saturday," "I- I left for five minutes!"
I feel like he would stop by her school every time he can and her students know him as wheelchair boyfriend.
And speaking of wheelchairs, Tensei sometimes feels like he is not enough for Fuyumi. He can't take her dancing or ice-skating.
Fuyumi doesn't care about it. He loves Tensei for who he is, and that is enough for her.
On her birthday, he takes her to see the Winter Illumination events, and even takes her to see ice-sculptors at a festival.
He likes to carry her on his lap and then accelerate with his quirk. He especially does it when the sakura trees are blooming, so it's more romantic.
Also, she sits on his lap when it's hot, since she is always cold.
I don't want to break anybody's bubble but these two one hell of an age gap.
Like Tensei is 31 and Fuyumi is 23.
He is eight years older than her. That's more than Shigaraki and Toga have on each other.
Am I the first one to notice this?
I feel like it should be a big deal. Like when Tensei was eighteen, Fuyumi was ten.
I feel like his parents would make fun of him for that. Calling him a creepy old man.
I also feel, since Tensei appeared in vigilantes, that he has a lot of vigilante friends, and one time, they all meet Fuyumi.
I feel like they would like her more than her boyfriend.
Also, he likes her cooking much more than anything else he has ever eaten before. But don't tell his mom.
Family
There is only one rule that all Todoroki men share and respect: Fuyumi needs to be protected. They don't give a crap if the guy is a retired hero, or the brother of a friend, or in a wheelchair, they won't let him hurt Fuyumi.
The first months of dating, Tensei doesn't feel safe. Like someone is staring at his back with murderous intent. He can't pin-point which Todoroki is, but his money is on Endeavour.
Actually it's all of them. They take turns keeping watch. One time, they all ended doing it at the same time. It was awkward at first, but they found a way to make it work and not kill each other.
Every single Todoroki has threatened him.
Dabi, with the help of Toga, cornered him in an alley and placed him on the floor and stepped on him.
"If you hurt sister, I'm going to finish what Stain couldn't do..."
Natsuo did it during a family dinner. He smiled and at first appeared very polite, but when Fuyumi wasn't there, the smile was gone.
"I am a doctor, you think I don't know how to get rid of you and make it look like it happened naturally?"
Enji went to meet him at his apartment. He knocked on the door asked him a few question. Tensei went along, answering everything politely, and then got the message by the last question.
"How much heat will it take for that wheelchair to melt with you in it?"
Shouto was more surprising. He called Tensei with his brother's phone and only said one thing before he hung up.
"I don't care if you are Tenya's brother's, if you don't make my sister happy, I will end you,"
I feel like Rei wouldn't be okay with the idea until she sees that Tensei is defensless in a wheelchair.
I know it's a bad thought, and Rei knows so, but after everything she went through, you can't blame the woman for it. Her daughter is with a HERO. At least, if he is in a wheelchair, she can do better to survive.
Tenya loves his new sister. He hasn't seen his brother so happy since the accident, and he always wanted a sister.
The Iida's love her.
She is an angel in their eyes. Their son is in such good hands.
I feel like they would have two kids. First a girl Iida Fubuki, a girl, and then Iida Kaen, a boy.
Fubuki has blue hair with white highlights. Her name means blizzard in Japanese and her quirk is that she has engine pipes on her wrist that shoot dry ice.
Kaen has blue hair with red highlights. His name means Flame Thrower in Japanese and his quirk is that he has engine pipes on his ankles that shoot flames.
Neither of them become heroes. I feel like both families give them enough reasons not to follow that career.
Fubuki becomes an ice skater, using her quirk for presentations and speed.
Kaen becomes a musician. A hard, metal punk rocker and uses his quirk for shows. He was closer to Dabi than his sister.
AU - Fantasy AU
So, Fuyumi is a princess. Because, of course, she is.
Tensei is a knight, and he comes from a long line of knights.
One day, her life is threatened by a new rogue called Stain, who is killing off noble families and royals.
Tensei is tasked with protecting the princess at all cost. But it's a harder task than he originally thought.
His job was to stick by the princess side as much as he could, but on his second day, he lost her.
He found her later on a hut on the countryside, teaching young girls how to read and write and other basic knowledge. She wears a disguise, so others don't recognize her. With a tattered dress and a spell to make her hair black, she is unrecognizable.
Tensei doesn't stop her from doing it when he finds out and instead helps her sneak out and helps with the angry sexist man that come around.
It all goes well until Stain attacks.
He ambushes them on the road, and the only reason that they survive is that Fuyu shows Stain she is not like other royals.
As Tensei was trying to protect her and getting in the way, the rogue was going to kill him. But before he can, Fuyumi gets in the way, pleading that he lets Tensei live.
Stain leaves and Tensei and Fuyumi are alright.
When they return to the castle though, Tensei is looked down with dishonour by the rest of the court. He is fired from his job as a knight with the princess, but Fuyumi then hires him back again.
The two continue to spend time together, and all seems happy. But then, Fuyumi is betrothed.
Tensei tries to handle it with dignity since he is only a knight and knew in the back of his mind, that Fuyumi would get married one day. But he is a jealous mess when the fiance arrives.
He follows them around, stops them whenever they get too close and intervenes whenever the man makes a move on her.
Fuyumi, though grateful, has to ask him to stop. Because even if she would prefer it was him, she is marrying, if he angers her fiance, they are going to behead him.
They don't have to worry about it though, because, before the wedding, the lost prince Touya returns and takes the throne.
However, even if Dabi, now the new king, breaks her marriage off with her betrothed, Fuyumi doesn't like how much he is ruling.
The two get in a fight, and Dabi tells her that if she doesn't like it, then she can leave. He won't stop her.
The next day, Fuyumi starts packing. She tells Tensei that he can stay if he wants, he doesn't have to follow her.
Tensei confesses his feelings for her and then starts packing.
They leave a week after and they settle on a farming land where Fuyumi opens a school for girls and Tensei hunts and collects stuff to sell.
Fanon Oponion
So, again, I can't see these two having sex.
I just can't.
I don't know why. And AO3 seems to agree with me since I found 3 where they have sex, and it's not just mentioned.
One was a Fuyubowl, the other was a crackfic, and the last one traumatized me.
For the most part, they are a background couple.
And not in the way Hagakure and Ojiro are a couple where you might find more than 10 fics about them, but as 'we don't want Fuyumi to be alone, so in this fic she is with Tensei.'
I feel like they are underappreciated, especially Fuyumi.
Girl is still holding on after the shitty situation she is in. She is the only sane Todoroki in here.
And poor Tensei. He didn't deserve what happened to him. Stain didn't have a very clear objective.
There's also the fact that not much is known about them.
Like Tensei has not been mentioned since the stain arc.
They are just there...
But people love making next-gen kids with them.

Thanks to @mandelene for the open tag!
Name: My online pseudonym is Feyna.
Fandoms: Currently, only Hetalia.
Most popular oneshot: I’ve never written real one-shots so I guess it’ll have to be a ficlet. On tumblr, the one with most notes is Small Stream. However, Christmas Is with Family has nearly as many notes and also got quite a few comments on FNN and AO3 (while Small Stream didn’t) so I don’t know which one is objectively more popular.
Most popular multichapter: Needy Child. Because apparently, it’s the only fic existing in the Hetalia fandom set during those few years when America was a teen and Canada a child/toddler, so anybody who wants to read something like that has only this fic of mine available. 😅
Actual worst part of writing: I know this is cliché, but the hardest part is the writing itself, lol. Especially, as it turned out, when I was looking forward to writing that scene and had daydreamed about it million of times... Pity that I’m never able to give it justice when I write it down, which is incredibly frustrating.
How you choose your titles: I’m awful at choosing titles, haha. It’s a random process. I try to churn out titles (mostly going by words’ association) and hope for a good one to strike me. (Ideally, the title would have some sort of double meaning, both related to the theme of the story. I once wrote a better explanation of the process [x].) If it doesn’t happen, I go for the one I dislike less of those I had tried.
Do you outline: For fics that ended up being shorter than ~40k words, I’ve never done it (even though I did have the general plot and some scenes in my mind. I daydream a lot about a fic before writing it). For longer fics, instead, I write a very loose outline of the main events and how they can be divided into chapters. (I explained it better in answer to other questions [x] [x].) I don’t always end up sticking to that once I’m writing, though.
Ideas I probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice? Lol there’s so much stuff here... Something I’ve been thinking about a lot (since I got a question about it) is the fantasy AU with Matthew and Alfred as knights [x]. The more I think about it, the more I love the idea. However, I don’t have an organic plot in mind so it’s quite unlikely I’ll ever get around to writing it. (Even though a collection of full-length – at least 6k words – one-shots...) Of other ideas I’ve talked about in the past [x], instead, for how I love all of them, one of the most unlikely ones is the one with Arthur being a lawyer who has to help Alfred get custody of Matthew because... the idea is lovely. Pity that I know absolutely nothing of adoptions and all the legal stuff involved, the research required would be daunting. 😅 On a similar note, I’m quite enamoured with one of the fantasy ideas I had (the one with Alfred and Matthew as princes) and I keep adding details to that plot but I don’t think I’ll ever write it as, compared to a canon-verse setting or a more generic human AU, it would require a lot of effort in terms of worldbuilding, I would also have to describe wars and peace talks... honestly, I highly doubt I’d be good enough.
Callouts @ Me: I’m way too long-winded. A bit of introspection is fine, but too much is too much. 😅 Second, I’m writing in English. I need to stop relying on the more complex syntax of Italian. Third, way too self-indulgent. Shameless hurt/comfort in the way I write it is the exact opposite of good writing.
Best writing traits: I don’t think I have one, to be honest. But I guess my writing isn’t completely awful (at least, I hope!) so I’ll put it down as ‘my writing isn’t as bad as it could be’, lol. It’s still something! 😅
Spicy Tangential Opinion: Less isn’t always more.

Tagging: I’m tagging anyone who feels like doing this! I’d love to read your answers. 😊

A Poem of Roses
Mark Lee x Fem!Reader
“No world is too far if you reach for it.”
Magic!au fairytale!au jester!mark Masterlists  A/N: this one is a shorty
Tumblr media
A dish flew past your head and a shout in some foreign language followed. You ducked out of the way, carrying the tray of champagne with ease. The king was having a festival in honor of his daughter’s engagement. It was rumored to be his loudest, craziest, and most extravagant party and yet, you were still rushing around in a simply woven dress, offering people a drink that they didn’t even thank you for.
As you stepped into the throne room, your eyes widened. It wasn’t a lie: the King wasn’t backing down today. Girls dressed as swans spun along the dancefloor and knights swords flashed under the lights as they parried throughout. The princess danced in the center with her husband-to-be.  It was loud, it was bright, and the whole celebration was sickly sweet.
You hated it, but yearned to be apart of it.
“Yah, a round over here!” You glanced up and sighed, wandering through the crowds towards the man that called your name. The Crown Prince smiled at you, taking a flute of champagne from your tray and offering it to his friends around him. They all took a glass, none of them taking a sip, just holding it delicately in their hands, eyes burning predatorily into you. As you turned around to leave, you found yourself trapped.
“My Prince,” you mumbled, lowly curtsying, “I am called back to the kitchen for my duties.”
“Oh, I’m sure they won’t miss you,” he said flippantly. His hand curled around your elbow, dragging you deeper into the circle. “Come on now, we have so much to explore.”
The sentence scared you and only fueled the hatred that had roared through your system for years. This was your least favorite part about these celebrations: the royals, the rich, the upper class. In their minds someone like you; someone so far down the social ladder, you don’t deserve to frolic amongst them.  But yet, their favorite game to play was to force you to bend to their will and almost become one of them.
“My Prince, please, I must return to—”
“Must return to your duties, yada yada yada,” the boy huffed, pulling at a strand of your hair. “Your useless, why would they need your help anyway?”
You wanted to scream. Or hit him. Both sounded good.
“Oi!” A new voice joined the mess and quickly another boy popped into view. As much as you hated to admit it, the Crown Prince was good looking, but the newcomer completely put him to shame. He was exotic: his eyes were sharp, lips full, and skin bright. Dark hair fell over his eyes and framed his face, showing off his prominent cheekbones and clean jawline. His eyes were darkly lined by kohl and sparkles were delicately placed under his right eye. Roses were curled through his hair, resting around his ears, almost like they were ears themselves.
You had no idea who he was and you weren’t the only one. The Prince cast a disgruntled look over the boy and his friends shifted nervously around him. The boy didn’t seem to care as a wicked grin flickered across his lips, eyes darting through the group. Then he threw up his hands and let one arm rest around the Prince’s shoulders.
“No need to be so serious, Princey, we’re having a celebration, aren’t we?”
The Prince eyed him and then his gaze moved through the group, expression screaming for help.
“Who… exactly are you?” He asked slowly, trying to lean away from the other boy.
“Ah yes, I’m Mark, Master of Revels. Nice to meet you.” The two shook hands, both of them sizing each other up.
You watched the whole ordeal, body shaking with confusion.
“So you’re like a… jester?” Someone piped up. Mark glanced in the direction of the voice, looking genuinely annoyed by the statement. He snorted, brushing a piece of his hair out of his face.
“Are you like a jester?”
With that, he let go of the Prince. His hand moved, this time wrapping around yours and he proceeded to make his dramatic exit, dragging you along with him. You didn’t fight him, happy that you had managed to escape those assholes. The boy didn’t stop once you were out of the elite circle, instead he kept moving through the party. Every now and then, he would stop to say hello to a few people, twinkle his eyes at a few others, and wiggled his fingers at anybody who glanced at him.
And the whole time, you just went along with it.
Next thing you knew, you were out on the front steps, eyes focused on the dark night sky above you. Stars twinkled brightly in the darkness, a few spinning and then crashing through the air in a violent manner. You watched, mesmerized by the seemingly careless nature of the tiny lights.
“Beautiful, aren’t they?” He whispered.
You glanced over at him, drinking in his appearance  once more. They sparkles under his eye were glowing, sending an odd illumination over the rest of his face. It made his dark eyes look purple and gave his nose and jaw a sharper slant. Even in the dimness, he was beautiful.
“Very,” you replied, forcing your gaze back to the stars.
Quiet vibrated between you.
“How come I’ve never seen you before?” You asked.
Mark paused, clearly thinking the question over. His tongue poked out, slowly running over his bottom lip. Then he shrugged, as if he too had no idea. His fingers started to mess with his hair, eventually reaching the roses tucked behind his ears. He pulled one out, staring down at the flower.
“I simply escaped my old life,” he mumbled. He looked up at you through his lashes. “I did something that everyone longs to do.”
The rose unfurled in his hands. The stem uncurled and you watched as it seemed to grow before your eyes. The red of the petals started to fade to a deep purple and then it was glowing. A faint, light blue pulsated from the center of the plant.
Mark handed it to you and you carefully accepted.
He stood extremely close.
“No world is too far if you reach for it,” he breathed. Then he backed away, sadly smiling at you. He turned and wandered back into the palace. You watched him disappear and then glanced down at the flower.
A smile bloomed on your face.

Seonghwa: Facade (End)
Tumblr media
Characters: Seonghwa x female reader (featuring Hongjoong)
Genre/warnings: royalty au, sorta arranged marriage au, slowburn, fluff
Word count: 735
Summary: Being an assassin, you’ll do anything for anybody as long as they can pay for it. However, you might’ve met your match after meeting your next target, Park Seonghwa, the prince of the kingdom. It’s not that his fighting skills match yours or that he’s even a little suspicious of you – it’s how he has a heart of gold, cares so deeply for his kingdom, and would do anything for you despite the fact he has only just met you. So now you have to make a choice: fail your orders and accept death…or kill the man you’ve fallen in love with.
Previous
Your palms hadn’t sweat nervously like this since your wedding. You didn’t know why you were so nervous. The bad parts were all over. This was supposed to be the easy part now. You just had to walk out there. That was it. Everything else would be left to somebody else.
“Scared?” Hongjoong asked, wearing a full knight getup. He looked genuinely worried for you. “You look kind of pale and clammy.”
You nodded, “Kind of, yeah.”
He chuckled, “You never got nervous before Seonghwa. He really did get to you, huh?”
After the trial, the two old men were sentenced to death -- which was immediate. Meanwhile, the three of you were found innocent, with Hongjoong getting to become an official member of the guard -- not that anybody knew he wasn’t one -- and getting promoted to a higher status within it, Mingi ditching the assassin job, and you… Well, you ditched the whole assassin thing, too. It just wasn’t for you anymore. Besides, you had a better job now.
“I’m not late!” Seonghwa insisted as he ran over to you five minutes later than he was supposed to. He was actually supposed to be waiting by the doors before you were. He settled himself beside you, looking at you with a bright grin. “Hi, love.”
“You are late, you know,” you told him as he bent his arm at a perfect 90 degree angle so you could rest your hand in the crook of it, your fingers nervously gripping at his jacket sleeve.
Your wedding ring you never took off -- the first time Seonghwa saw you outside the dungeon, he teased you for still wearing it, to which you reminded him that you didn’t recall getting a divorce -- shone prettily in the light. Seonghwa couldn’t help but look down at it before he was patting your hand with his free one. You wished the two of you didn’t have to wear gloves because you just wanted to feel the warmth of his skin on yours.
Even after proven innocent, Seonghwa was told how strange it would look for Seonghwa to have you as his queen. Still, he kept insisting that you were still his wife and you were the only wife he would have. He all but threw a fit until he was told he could go through with the coronation with you. To him, there was nobody else. There was only you.
“How’s the dress fit?” he asked.
You nodded, “Very well.”
As promised, Seonghwa got you dresses that wouldn’t make you so uncomfortable to wear. They were still extravagant -- especially this one since it was the coronation -- but they weren’t as tight and stiff.
Seonghwa took in a deep breath just as the doors were opened for the two of you to step out and be greeted by the kingdom. Your tried to imitate him, hoping it would calm you down.
“Don’t mess up the words,” Hongjoong teased just as Seonghwa walked you out through the doors.
Your mind went on autopilot after that. You did everything you were taught to do, and you did it correctly which was most important to you. You didn’t stumble or stutter with your words, you spoke clearly, and you did everything expected of you. But despite hardly knowing what was happening while it was happening, you were relieved when it was almost over. Now, all you had to do was face the crowd as you were announced with your new titles.
“Introducing your king and queen, Park Seonghwa and Song _____.”
You couldn’t hide the relieved yet happy smile as you waved to the cheering crowd below. The entire kingdom showed up for this -- including your brother and his friends -- and while you were still getting over your fear of showing your face and true identity to people, you couldn’t have been more happy your past was just that: the past.
Seonghwa leaned into you, murmuring into your ear, “I love you, my queen.”
You giggled, turning to him, “And I love you, my very charming king.”
As always, Seonghwa didn’t care that the whole kingdom was watching as he pressed his lips to yours, his free hand tilting your jaw up to him. But this time, there was nobody there to tell him he couldn’t.
Day 1; 1:00 -- the first day of happily ever after.

The Gift of a Kiss
Challenge six of the @daybreakx writing challenge || challenge one | challenge two | challenge three | challenge four | challenge five ||
I got a bit carried away, I'm sorry
Member: wouldn't you like to know? ;)
Genre: royalty au, angst, fluff, historical au
Pairing: Reader x idol
Prompt: Someone is the “secret heir” to a big/famous company, or the characters think the other person is out of their league
Word count: 2,513
•♤♡◇♧•♤♡◇♧•♤♡◇♧•♤♡◇♧•
I'm just a commoner. I was born into a world of farm and famine. It's a difficult life, not knowing if tomorrow you'll be able to eat. And as if that was bad enough, you never knew when a Lord, a Baron, or maybe some bandits would come and take everything you had just because they can. But it is also cosy on the good days, a small house on the outskirts of the village filled with love. And that, for me, is enough. I don't need a leather pouch filled to the brim with gold or clothes made of silk to make me happy. All I really need is my family, our field and… our animals. I'm suddenly startled by loud clucking noises. I set down my basket and move towards the door to the chickens, picking up a knife just in case there was a bandit lurking. I clutch the knife in one hand, pushing the door open with the other. The stranger standing amongst our chickens is startled and falls face first into the mud. I keep my knife held out to be sure. Then the man lifts his head and looks at me, a sheepish smile on his face. "What business do you have here?" I ask him sternly, examining his face.
The man furrows his eyebrows, opening his mouth to speak. But then he pauses, softens his expression and tries again. "I guess you could say that I'm lost." He says before stumbling to his feet and looking down at his dirty clothes. "Could you run me a bath?" I'm astounded at the man's arrogance and scoff, turning away from him. He doesn't seem to know quite what to say, because he follows it up with a desperate "Please?" I tuck my knife away and ignore him, but he rushes after me.
"Who do you think you are? This is my house and you stumble in, disturbing my animals and then asking for a bath. Anybody would think that you were royalty, the way you walk around as if you own the place. I'll tell you, sir, the best you'll get from me is some directions to a pond. You can wash yourself off there." I narrow my eyes and him and walk back into my house, laying out the table. I look up as I do so, finding the man still standing there. I'm not sure if I'm just too soft for my own liking, but a part of me feels as if I should help him. After all, if he really is lost as he says he is, does he have anywhere to stay? I would feel bad if a lost traveller starved or froze because he had nowhere safe to stay. "Since it's late, I will give you some fresh clothes, you can't sleep in those. You can stay for the night if you have nowhere else to go, but only for the night." I beckon him in and he enters cautiously. I hand him some clean dry clothes. "We will be eating soon. You should eat too. You'll need all the energy you can get tomorrow."
Dinner is awkward. My family keeps looking over at him, probably wondering who he is. I'm wondering the same, but I'm too hungry to ask him right now. He eats slowly, and I can tell he's not particularly enjoying it, so I give him some of my bread, hoping he'll enjoy that more. Me and my family eat our supper in no time. They all disperse afterwards, probably because there is a stranger in our house. I begin to clear the table, watching the unfamiliar man still eating. I'm starting to wonder if he's a slow eater or if he's used to something more hearty. If he lives out in the country, he may be eating roasted lamb instead of vegetable stew. Or maybe it's because he's in a strange place with strange people. Once he finishes eating, he looks up at me. "I'm sorry, I've been rude." I look at him, surprised but thankful. "You've shown me kindness and given me a place to stay even though you don't know me. You've given me food even though it meant you had less to eat. You've given me things I never asked for, things you didn't have to give, but you did so anyway. I am forever in your debt." I can tell from the way he's looking at me that he means every word of what he says.
Strangely, I find myself drawn to him. Despite his bad manners before, I can see that underneath he is a good man. He leans down and I don't make any attempt to move away as he kisses me. It's only brief, but I can feel the sincerity in it. I find myself wishing that it had lasted longer, which is hard to believe because I don't yet know his name or who he is or where he's from. I think he can read my thoughts, as he explains himself. "I'm not from this kingdom." I'm surprised to hear that. What reason could someone from another kingdom have to be here? That kind of travel could be dangerous. "I'm here on a quest. I hear that there is a special plant in a cave within this kingdom." Suddenly it makes sense. "I'm hoping that it can save my mother." He says so quietly that it's almost a whisper. "I know it's dangerous, things are tense between our kingdoms, but this is the most important thing I've ever had to do."
Now I'm glad that I stopped to help, because I know the cave well. Since I was young I often sat in the cave to relax and watch the world move around me. I, too, know how important that plant can be. It can, and has, saved lives in the past. I've had to make the remedy he needs many times for the people in the village, so perhaps this is a strange coincidence. "I know the forest well, the cave too. I know where the plant you need is located. I can help you find it, we both know you'd need it." I offer, looking at him for his approval, but he shakes his head. He probably thinks he can find it himself, but he couldn't even find his way out of my garden. What makes him think that he can find his way through a dense forest, to a hidden cave, and find a small plant? But I can tell from his expression that he is stubborn and that convincing him to let me help him would take a miracle. "I can't let you. Who knows what kind of people are lurking in that forest. It's not safe for someone who doesn't know how to fight."
I'm not quite sure what to say to that. "What makes you think I don't know how to fight? Because I'm just a commoner? Because I've never held a sword?" I question. I see him tense and then it hits me. "But... you have, haven't you? Wow, you had me fooled. No wonder you demanded a bath and hadn't the faintest idea what a live chicken looked like. So tell me, what are you exactly? A knight? The son of a knight?" I ask, not really prepared to hear his answer, but I need to know, because I need to understand just who I'm dealing with right now. Who is this man? Why did I start to trust him before knowing him?
He gives me a sheepish look, sighing. He mumbles something that I can't quite make out, and I ask him to repeat what he said. He looks back at me like a scolded child. "I'm a prince." Although it's barely louder the second time, I hear him loud and clear. A prince? In my house? I feel like a fool for not knowing. It was obvious that he wasn't like me from the start. The way he spoke wasn't like a commoner. But why did I write him as a slightly better-off commoner? Perhaps a part of me was wishing he was like me. But now I felt small standing in front of him. Who was I really, compared to him? A nobody. And him, somebody. Somebody who I can only imagine many people look up to. One day he will be king and he will control an entire kingdom, but I will always be as I've always been. A commoner, who doesn't even control a small piece of land. I'm not deserving of him in the slightest.
"If only I had known." He looks back at me, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Then what? Would you have treated me differently? Welcomed me with smiles and given me anything so long as it keeps me happy? Hold back your true thoughts because I'm royalty?" He said harshly, turning his back to me.
I chewed my lip, shaking my head. "No, you acted appallingly back there. I don't regret sharing my true feelings because you deserved to hear them." I blow out a candle and take a cautious step. "But if I had known, I would have tried to cook something a little less… that." I look down at my hands, playing with the fabric of my clothes. "And I wouldn't have let you kiss me." I mutter, moving past him to go to bed.
I didn't sleep much, so it's hardly a surprise that I wake earlier than him. I quietly slip on my cloak and grabbed a basket, making sure to open the door carefully so that I don't wake him. Fortunately, the woods aren't too far of a walk from my home, so I approach them in no time. I slip into the forest, weaving in and out of the thick foliage until I reach the point where I see a vague shape of a path. I follow the path until I hear the distant trickle of a stream. I'm close to the cave at this point. Now I must veer off of the path to the left, stepping over a series of small rocks in the process. Very soon I see what to any other would look like a small cliff, the cave entrance almost completely concealed by weeds and vines. Almost. I manage to push the vines aside with my basket, watching as they swish back into place behind me. It's dark, but a tiny trickle of light illuminates the plant I need. Its leaves shimmer a light silver colour in the light. I take my knife that has been tucked into my belt and cut off the parts I need and scramble out of the cave as quickly as I had entered it.
He still hasn't woken by the time I've arrived home and made the medicine. Part of me wants to wake him but I decide against it. My heart feels heavy in my chest. I know that the sooner he gets the medicine back to his mother, the sooner he will leave and have no reason to return. The thought is both a relief and painful. Even though I barely know the prince, I feel oddly attached to him. Perhaps it's just from being tucked away from others, or perhaps we were meant to meet like this. But even if we were meant to meet, that doesn't mean that we're meant to be something. Even if we wanted for that to happen, it couldn't. Maybe in another life we could have been.
I didn't realise I had fallen back asleep until I wake in my bed, covered with a blanket. I see a small piece of paper next to me and sit up, opening it. So he took the medicine and left without a goodbye. I suppose I was asleep, though. It was probably best that way, anyway. I hold the paper to my chest, silently wishing him the best. As quickly as he entered my life, he is gone and I don't know what to feel.
It's about a week later when he returns. I hear a fuss being made outside. He's not even our prince, relations between our kingdoms aren't even favourable. Yet the people outside seem to fall at his feet. I hear my name be spoken and I know that I'll have to face him again. Why is he here again? To thank me? To tell me that he didn't make it back in time? I timidly step out into the street, looking up at him. He sits proudly up high on his horse, a rose red cape floating behind him as he dismounts and approaches me. I can feel the other villagers' eyes on me. They're probably wondering what the prince could want to do with me. "Firstly, I wanted to say sorry. I should have given you something more than a goodbye note. Secondly, I wanted to say thank you. For your kindness, for helping me despite me being unforgivably rude." He takes my hand and my heart races at his touch. His brunette hair flutters in the light breeze. In this moment, I think he is quite possibly the most beautiful man I have ever laid my eyes on. "My mother is well again, thanks to you. My father wishes to reward you for saving her life and I wish as much myself. He is willing to give you anything you desire."
I look away from him, glancing at the villagers who are watching and they quickly look away, pretending as if they weren't staring at us. "I didn't do it for a reward, my lord. A thank you is all I could ever want." He squeezes my hand gently and leans his forehead against mine. "What are you doing? People are staring." My heart races and I'm sure that anyone within a five mile radius can hear it.
"Let them." He whispers, his hot breath fanning across my face. A prince needn't be so close to a commoner, it's forbidden but he doesn't seem to care. "If you will not accept a material reward, then perhaps I should kiss you again." He grins cheekily at me. I'm pretty sure the bashful look on my face says everything he needs to know. He closes the gap between us and kisses me. It's just as sweet as before, but this time he lingers for longer. I can hear his heart racing in time with mine and at that moment I think that perhaps we're equals, or at least in part. He pulls away slowly, his face remaining close to mine. I can hear whispers all around us, but I don't care so much anymore. "I know you think you're not good enough for me, but you are wrong. It is me who isn't good enough for you. You are a far better person than I could ever be." I look up at him, his words leaving me breathless.
"Will I ever see you again?" I whisper, full of hope.
