"Oh, yes, we've been keeping an eye on him." Professor Ozpin said as he nodded to the fellow Pokémon Professors on screen.

"And you didn't think it was important to tell us?!" Professor Birch shouted. "Think of all the research we could-"

"No." Professor Ozpin pushed up on his glasses. "He is a child, and he will continue to live as a child."

"Professor Ozpin, I'm sure even you can see the scientific gold mine you have living freely in your kingdom." Professor Elm offered.

"Indeed, but I'm not interested in advancing our research when the region is still at war."

"Ah, yes, right." Professor Rowan nodded. "Your Grimm problem. And you're sure there's nothing our Elite Four or Champions can do to hasten your victory?"

"Yes, I am. This is a battle won decisively, not swiftly." Professor Ozpin drank from his mug.

"But a war is best won when all regions agree that the problem has reached too far." Professor Sarada said before coughing. "If you'll just allow us to-"

"No." He set his mug down. "The offer is appreciated, but unnecessary. Remnant will not allow the Grimm infection to spread to the other regions."

Before all the other professors could shout their opinions on the matter, the entire group was silenced and set to mute. With a tap of his mic, only one was able to voice his opinion.

"We understand your thoughts on this task, especially with how arduous and daunting it may seem. We will continue to hope for the best in your battles, but should you need our aid, we will not hesitate to assist. After all, your contribution may not be in the name of science, but it is in the name human- and Pokémon-kind everywhere. Oh, and, er, Faunus-kind, too. We wish you the best of luck, Oz."

Professor Ozpin smiled as he was permitted to speak once more. "Thank you, Sammy."

i’ve been thinking about pla specifically kamado and honestly as much as he is bad he’s rather sympathetic, i do just wish that before the exile we got more reveals and interactions with him about his past bc as i replay the game it becomes fairly obvious about the exile? so like he should’ve got more screen time, he deserves to have some more backstory.

also in relation to self ship i 1000% think his and coord!fae’s relationship is so hilarious and they’re so petty to him. he’s their adoptive great great to the something grandpa but they can’t say shit because what if the timeline gets weird? but also the temptation of yelling at him about their relationship— especially when he exiles them — is so big. but also kamado finding out about it accidentally and feeling so guilty bc that’s his grandkid??? and they got hurt how much?? idk i think it’d be a fun exploration of his character

Am I crazy or is the Suffering Game issue the book where most plot has been cut out??? Cause it feels so weirdly paced. And just kinda weirdly written in general.

Like there’s no Betrayal/Trust game, they go directly from Wheel to Monster Factory (and only fights the bear) and directly from Wheel to Heart Attack (no explanation for why they would end up there, just that it’s the “next stop”).

Then they skip the last Wheel round (meaning we don’t get Taako’s loss of Elven Beauty - a pretty important moment for his character, Merle loses his eye in the second round instead, and Magnus keeps all memories of Governor Kalen - he was offered loss of Julia instead and didn’t take it. Which. Fair.. and also, no bad luck) and go straight to the Lich fight??? So no boss Rush either. We also never see a penalty in this book.

Speaking of things missing from this book. Where the fuck is Cam? Or Lord Artemis Sterling? Rowan and Antonia???

The book is almost 300 pages long. They enter Wonderland at p. 52. We see the full room at p. 107. They only spent 55 pages on the bulk of this arc. The rest of the book has good pacing so what the fuck happened here. The book should have been longer. The impact of the suffering game isn’t felt as hard when there’s less gruelling challenges that loses Tres Horny Bois hp, or when you cut out any other npc that was affected by Wonderland from the story.

Due to this limited number of pages we also get weird pacing like Merle asking Magnus whether he spent “all that time thinking up the move” during the direbear fight, even though there’s only like 2 panels between Taako ending his move and Magnus beginning his. Also Merle you didn’t do anything during that fight, so get off your high horse.

Also, we only actually see one spell of Merle’s fail, that being the healing spell, so for all he knows, nothing is wrong with his powers, so him commenting on the fact that it would be nice to “be able to commune with a higher power” once they’re out of wonderland makes no fucking sense. Cause he could just?? Try and contact Pan?? Like he does later anyways??? Like we actively see him reaching into the astral plane without issue, so clearly up until that point no magical foul play.

Now, did stuff like the boss rush and the like have to have been in the book? No, but it’s weird when you think of what was kept in and was removed. Like fx, why was Taako shown giving up his acrobatics prof but not his elven beauty?

Also side note about Heart Attack - this is not relevant but it just makes me personally crazy, the book seems to imply that the mannequins have free will??? In that Lydia and Edward literally whisper to each other about “oh no the audience and the hot hot hot contestant actually likes these guys”????? WHAY?? Like aren’t they the ones who control all of what happens inside wonderland??

Dear Prof. Birch,

I hope this letter finds you well. I have some wonderful news! The Mew and Mewtwo pair that have been staying with me finally had their litter! The mittens(what the pair has decided to refer to them as) currently seem to be doing well. There was a bit of a scare with Mitten #1 as they’re possibly a premature baby, but they appear to be doing well aside from some physical weakness. The Mew mother has let me know they’re eating well and making regular efforts to play with their littermates.

Now onto the curiosities when it comes to the mittens… It appears that Mitten #1 lacks the traditional Mewtwo hind paw structure as well as the second neck. Now I know all of us lack proper knowledge of Mews and Mewtwos due to lack of specimens but after observing the similarities between Fuji and the Mewtwo father I feel there is at least some species consistency that Mitten #1 lacks. Aside from those oddities they appear similar in body structure and coloration, even inheriting their father’s stripes though with some different placements.

Mitten #2 and #3 take more after their Mew mother in body structure, yet Mitten #2 has the hind paw structure of their father, and Mitten #3 has a second neck with slightly longer ears. Mitten #2 has a short coat with teal like coloration that possibly stems from the mother’s bloodline while Mitten #3 has a long coat similar to the mother’s and the pink coloration Fuji reported their donor had. Both also inherited their father’s stripes but have considerably fewer than both the father and Mitten #1.

Due to these differences from the standards we have observed there’s a possibility these three are a different form of Mew and Mewtwo. A base evolution, perhaps? Obviously it’s too early to have any clear answers or even hints at any theories. I extended the offer to the parents to bring them to the mainland so you could check them. They were understandably hesitant so that may not happen unless necessary. In the meantime, I’ve taken to calling Mitten #1 a Demitwo, and Mittens #2 and #3 Demimew. I could classify them as Mews and Mewtwo but that seems a bit off to me.

If possible could you send a copy of this letter to Prof. Elm and Prof. Rowan? I’m sure they would be interested in this as well considering it falls into their fields of study. I’ll be sure to document their growth in case any of you want any more information, with the parents’ consent of course.

I finally found the perfect hair for Rowan (with a little help from @prof-sullivan), so here he is in all his sim glory! He was made for a level 20 thing, and his sheet is kind of nuts. More than kind of, actually. They have permanent advantage on initiative and a +10. Also so many expertises. (He has expertise in most of his skills.) Oh, and proficiency in four saving throws. And a passive Perception of 32. 9d6 sneak attack that he can use twice in a turn, too. And a walking speed of 45 ft. He's kind of a busted monster and I really really want to play him with this level 20 build someday.
