There is a fundamental reason why we look at the sky with wonder and longing - for the same reason that we stand, hour after hour gazing at the distant swell of the open ocean. There is something like an ancient wisdom, encoded and tucked away in our DNA, that knows its point of origin as surely as a salmon knows its creek. Intellectually, we may not want to return there, but the genes know, and long for their origins - their home in the salty depths. But if the seas are our immediate source, the penultimate source is certainly the heavens... The spectacular truth is - and this is something that your DNA has known all along - the very atoms of your body - the iron, calcium, phosphorus, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and on and on - were initially forged in long-dead stars. This is why, when you stand outside under a moonless, country sky, you feel some ineffable tugging at your innards. We are star stuff. Keep looking up.

So often, so much of the time, there's a word I'm looking for to describe what I'm thinking of so perfectly, but I just can't think of it. Or there just isn't a word that really describes all the intricacies of what I'm trying to convey. You wouldn't believe just how often words fail to describe everything going on in my head.

This is why I love music and storytelling, poetry and painting, artistic expression of all kinds. Words are beautiful, but they can only go so far on their own.

i haven’t known the embrace of a functional, syndicated household but my partner stopped me before washing the dishes one day and told me he will complete the chores. i refused and he said, “a relationship requires synergy, you did all that work, let me do the dishes and the other chores so you can rest now”

what am i searching for? why is it so impossible to categorize or discover? forever i've been looking for IT, on the internet, in books, the streets, the forest in winter.

wherever i go, i'm searching; for the one thing that will make me whole, the one piece that has been missing since i was born.

i wander through spaces and times, with my heart open and aching, waiting for it to come back to me

perhaps when i find it, i will no longer be alone

but the day won't come; instead i'll continue to wander through time, always waiting to find what i'm looking for, knowing that the searching is all i'll ever have
