Resources for Creating: My Go-To things.
Update: I’ll be updating the list on this page from now on, since Tumblr can’t handle so many hyper-links in one post, on Dreamwidth - right here, so I won't have to update it multiple times. Please note: I keep updating this list, and updates aren't showing up on reblogs. Please check the original post for the most up to date list.
Sooo this is going to be a long comprehensive list. I got back to this game after a long time and with a different computer, with a dedicated graphics card, hurray! It made me want to return to making things, so while gathering back all the necessary stuff, I've complied this list. It might be is updated as I go along, but these are the main things I use. Maby one day i'll even finish something. So here are my go-to resources & tutorials; I'm posting it here for safekeeping, and hopefully others will find it helpful. Everything that's listed is here free. So many wonderful things for free under the cut.

What is Toxic Spirituality?
Spirituality is the practice of getting to know yourself better on a deeper level and learning about the world around you.
While this can provide physical, mental, and emotional health benefits, it can also take a turn for the worse. Sometimes spirituality can push harmful messages, toxic positivity, judgment, gaslighting, and cultish behavior.
Nine Toxic Spirituality Habits
1. Spiritual Bypassing and Toxic Positivity
Spiritual bypassing is when you use spiritual concepts to avoid certain emotions or situations in your life.
Toxic positivity is when you believe you need to be always positive to gain proper manifestation of your desires.
Suppressing emotions can lead to a buildup of unprocessed thoughts dependent on circumstances, and eventually you will mentally implode.
2. Spiritual Narcissism
Spiritual narcissism is the belief that your spirituality makes you better than others. It’s the Us vs. Them mentality.
The stronger your ego identifies with a specific belief the more difficult it will be to see any issues.
3. Idolizing Spiritual Teachers
The best teachers are the ones that help connect you to your inner self. Their goal is to act as a guide more so rather than be the ultimate truth.
The trouble idolizing spiritual mentors is that there will be a point you’re going to disagree, and it will cause cognitive dissonance if you see them for more than they are.
4. Superstitions and Attachment
If you heavily rely on spiritual practices, items, and rituals to exist in the world and become solely dependent about superstitious beliefs linked to any of them, you are diminishing yourself.
You don’t need crystals to protect yourself.
You don’t need the wand to draw energy.
You don’t need the cauldron to burn incense or make potions. Although, even I can admit having one makes things more interesting.
5. Hyper Discipline
I see this a lot. There are those that talk about the importance of discipline in spirituality. Likewise, I see others talk up the importance of flexibility.
Spirituality is a personal experience. If disciplined daily practices or rigid rituals work for you, then great, but if it feels forced reconsider things.
6. Lack of Discernment
Not every spiritual practice will be right for you. Not everything will resonate. Not every metaphysical concept will ring truth. That’s good. It’s healthy to ask questions and think for yourself.
If you accept without question, you’re allowing yourself to be programmed by external forces becoming conditioned.
7. Clinging to Truth
What’s true for you may not be true for someone else, and what was true for you last year may no longer be true for you today.
Our beliefs can change over time as we learn and experience different facets to spirituality. Fighting for the word of truth or standing behind a specific religion promoting acts of war is an act of blasphemy. In that regard, belief and religious culture do not always coincide.
8. Emotional Hypochondria
It’s possible to become attached to your own healing, making you feel the need to become a better, and better version of yourself.
Always overanalyzing everything will lead to an emotional burnout, and you will be hyper aware of every single feeling. You will become self-depreciating, and you will be running in a circle like a silly hamster in its wheel going nowhere.
9. Manic Manifesting
Shut up about manifestation. I’m tired. It’s everywhere. Constantly visualizing your desires, parroting affirmations, and trying to control every single frequency makes it feel manic.
Thinking on what you don’t have will make you see less of what you do have, and it is like beating yourself up mentally every day for those things you do not have.
Thinking on it without action is an obsession. The secret was a fun concept for a book, but unless you put it into actual action. There will be no change, Laws of physics, every action has a reaction. Because thinking is more like potential energy, but that still needs an activator. No one is going to miraculously fix things for you. You can do worksheets on what you want every day for the rest of your life, but at the end of your life you will have nothing you want except a pile of worksheets with your hopes and dreams that never happened.
Diminishing Toxic Spirituality
If you’ve been participating in toxic spirituality, own it and grow from it. Be mindful of your intentions, ask questions, and navigate your experiences.
When something isn’t working you will know it, when you realize that something is wrong, it may have already set you back. When something keeps replaying in your mind, maybe that’s an area to work on. Or delve deeper, but with an analytical mind, rather than one that accepts everything. It’s like eating at a buffet. You can see the chicken is green, you can smell its rancid. But the person with you says it’s good. Are you going to take that at face value and trust them, or make your own choice?
Correct motivations for spirituality, belonging to a group is great. They help people feel connected, and it gives joy to be able to connect. While it is not for everyone, some people see the appeal in it, but as a result can become absorbed into the group and lose their individuality. Their need to be accepted can drive them to poor decision making, at the expense of their autonomy due to peer pressure.
Some go into practice to fuel their ego or have something unique and quirky to talk about. If it’s a fad, it probably isn’t the best idea. If you must run around yelling to your bullies at school, I'm a witch I will curse you. That is likely not the right reason to delve into a spiritual journey. While it may be doing it for your own sense of internal control over an aspect of your life, the journey becomes more about what you have against others, rather than delving within yourself and finding yourself.
Money, Power, Quick fixes. Spirituality and religions offer seemingly quick results with fake promises. Love spells, Churches, Community support. While in theory sounds too good to believe. Often the promises made by various people, groups, and sectors of religion can be very appealing; at times it is used for the profit of the people providing the services.
You would be surprised how many people offer snake oil, or a djinn in a ring for money. To give you all you want. If you are looking for your life to magically be alright, please remember this isn’t a modern fairytale.
Happy endings happen in movies because they can’t fit it all into an 80-minute run. There's character development, there’s ups downs, trials and moments of success and happiness. Without those moments, we don’t really discover who we are. We are more of a hollow once off character in a movie playing a role. We do not find us; we do not create... an Us in such a short time.
It’s best to be yourself, and not part of some collective.
The spiritual journey is yours so do it for yourself.

Hey hey! Wyrd told me you trained your dog to help with executive dysfunction stickyness/ repetitive action and I would LOVE to know how you trained this. I am training my pet to do a few in-home things before I get my prospect in hopefully this year
Oh, hi! There's a longer post about this topic elsewhere in my Matilda tag you might want to check out.
A lot of my training approach is informed by the experimenting I did with alarms that interact with other senses besides acoustics during COVID. I got completely nonresponsive to phone alarms and things, and I was under a truly catastrophic amount of stress related to my PhD at the time, so my general functioning wasn't great and I really NEEDED external cues to trigger basic daily tasks. Unfortunately I have a pretty impressive ability to hyperfocus right past obnoxious alarms, and worse, I am very very good at absently turning alarms off or mimicking paying attention without actually pulling my focus away from the subject of my attention. You get a 5-30sec buffer of retained information for the purposes of holding up a conversation which I am continuously dumping. I am not necessarily doing it consciously, but that doesn't make it not frustrating. Especially because if a human does get my attention, many years of RSD tends to set me at hyper defensive right out of the gate. That's not ideal for a bunch of reasons.
Anyway, I found that vibration or tactile stimuli, as well as visual stimuli (I rigged a disco lamp to turn on at hourly intervals in a desperate attempt to track the passage of time), worked quite well to capture my attention and let me step out of hyperfocus enough to do the next thing. I figured eventually I would have to see humans in their meat suits again and people get weird about shit like this, so I needed something relatively discreet and quiet that shouldn't be disruptive to anyone else. I started thinking about building myself aids.
So the first idea I had was to just program a series of alarms into a smartwatch that could automatically attach them to alerts from my gcal, but it turns out that they don't have an api function that hooks up to stuff like "make watch buzz" and I ran out of bandwidth to deal with it. It eventually just seemed easier to train an entire dog to respond to a quiet alarm than to fight with the hardware and software to make a really good buzzwatch. I use a couple of different alarm ring tones to cue different actions just as you might train any dog to a word: this one means we go to the bedroom, that one means that if you take meds I get candy, and so forth. The actual sound of the alarm is a cue in its own right. I have some discussion in that other post about how I encouraged my dog to essentially play a game with me where she had to figure out how to get my attention without hurting (aka NO SCREAMING WITH YOUR VERY LOUD HIGH PITCHED BARK). Essentially, I'm shaping that out of whatever behaviors she offers me that successfully catch my attention, defined operationally to her as "standing up + sustained eye contact."
In terms of catching me when I'm tending to get stuck on something or stationary without moving, that one is less "Yes I and my dog are amazing and I've trained her to read my mind" and more "I don't make eye contact when I'm dissociating and I almost always am staring into my phone." So if Matilda catches me drifting across the kitchen glued to phone, she knows that if she rockets up and nudges me into paying attention to my body, she'll get a reward. Consequentially, she's a bit enthusiastic about this one and will sometimes ram passersby with her nose, so definitely figure out your failure modes before you teach the dogs anything.

‧₊🪷♡ INTRO TO VISTA MUSIC * ꒱
VISTA MUSIC is a fictional South Korean entertainment company founded in 2002 by CEO Hwang Taeran, an enigmatic and notoriously elusive figure in the industry. Known for its cutting-edge approach to idol development, the company has long marketed itself as an innovator—one that discovers talent rather than simply creating it. But behind the glossy façade of success and reinvention lies something darker: a legacy built not just on vision, but on control. With its sleek, hyper-modern headquarters nestled in the center of Seoul, VISTA MUSIC prides itself on its immaculate artist training programs, claiming to sculpt raw talent into the "future of K-pop." Their methods, though highly secretive, have led to the debut of some of the industry’s most technically flawless idols. But for every star they produce, there is a trail of former trainees who disappear—either from the industry or, in more sinister cases, from public record entirely. At the core of VISTA MUSIC’s philosophy is the belief that perfection is not just achievable—it is mandatory. But the lengths to which they go to achieve this have been whispered about for years, fueling theories that range from extreme overwork to psychological conditioning.
And then there is THE VEIL, a group that should never have existed. A group that embodies VISTA MUSIC’s greatest triumph— and it’s most damning mistake.

‧₊🪷♡ MEET THE ARTIST * ꒱
The Veil (2022—present)
Concept: Hyper-realism, lost identity, fractured memories Impact: The group’s presence in the industry is both a fascination and an anomaly. Their talent is undeniable, but their unsettlingly uniform personas, their eerily coordinated behavior, and the way they speak—always measured, always perfect—have led fans to question what exactly VISTA MUSIC has done to them.
MIRR (2020—present)
Concept: Surreal beauty, mirrored illusions, identity distortion Impact: A five-member boy group under VISTA MUSIC that is renowned for its intense, highly synchronized performances. Often compared to The Veil in terms of artistic precision, MIRR has an unsettling visual aesthetic—one that plays on the idea of “reflections” and “false realities.” While they lack the same eerie detachment as The Veil, their industry reputation is similar: they are flawless. Too flawless.
LIMINAL (2014—2018)
Concept: Undefined—constantly shifting themes and aesthetics Impact: LIMINAL was VISTA MUSIC’s most ambitious project prior to The Veil. Each comeback presented an entirely new concept, requiring members to "become" different personas with each release. The psychological strain on the group was immense, leading to an early disbandment. Two members disappeared from the industry altogether, with one later being discovered under an entirely new identity.

‧₊🪷♡ THE PERFECT EXPERIMENT * ꒱
To the world, THE VEIL is simply another successful girl group—although one with an almost unnerving uniformity in how they move, speak, and interact. But to those who have looked deeper, the truth is evident: THE VEIL is not simply a group. It is a controlled reality. Each member trained within VISTA MUSIC’s walls for years—longer than most idols. They were sculpted, not just in skill, but in mindset. Their memories, their personalities, their very identities were shaped and redefined under an experimental program designed by CEO Hwang Taeran and COO Park Suri. The objective? To create the perfect idol group. To erase anything unnecessary—any weakness, any hesitation, any attachment to an individual past. To rewrite them. What VISTA MUSIC didn’t account for, however, was residual memory. They didn’t anticipate that cracks would form. That somewhere, hidden deep within the layers of conditioning, the girls they used to be still existed—waiting to be found. And if THE VEIL was ever to break— VISTA MUSIC would fall with it.

‧₊🪷♡ MEET THE MASTERMIND* ꒱
Hwang Taeran was born in 1981 in Seoul, South Korea, to a family deeply entrenched in the entertainment industry. His father was a renowned film director, known for his rigid perfectionism and obsessive control over his actors, while his mother was a former actress whose career ended prematurely due to an undisclosed scandal. From a young age, Taeran was taught that success was not just about talent, but about complete control—of one's image, one's emotions, and one's surroundings. He studied Business and Media Communications at Seoul National University before entering the world of entertainment management in the early 1990s. He worked briefly under major entertainment companies, where he developed a reputation for his ability to "shape" artists into exactly what the public wanted. However, he grew increasingly frustrated with the industry's chaotic nature, believing that idols were too unpredictable, too human. In 2002, he founded VISTA MUSIC—not just a company, but an experiment. He envisioned an agency where idols were not just trained, but crafted. Where mistakes, scandals, and unpredictability would not exist. Where every performer was perfectly curated to fit his vision of the ideal idol. Over the years, Taeran implemented increasingly radical methods to achieve his vision. VISTA MUSIC’s training programs became notoriously intense, bordering on psychological reconditioning. Trainees who entered the company often emerged unrecognizable—stripped of individuality, molded into seamless, flawless figures ready for mass consumption. While these methods were often rumored, Taeran himself was untouchable; his influence in the industry was too strong, his company too successful. Then came THE VEIL. The group was his masterpiece—proof that his system worked. And yet, cracks had begun to form. Mila knew too much. Sally was starting to remember. The illusion was unstable. But Taeran was not the type to panic. After all, he had spent his entire life ensuring control. And no one—no one—escaped from under his grasp.

‧₊🪷♡ HIS RIGHTHAND WOMEN* ꒱
Park Suri is the shadow that lurks behind VISTA MUSIC’s pristine image—the woman who ensures that everything stays in line, that no one steps outside the carefully constructed boundaries of Taeran’s vision. Born in 1987 to an upper-class family in Busan, Suri was raised in an environment of strict discipline. Her father was a high-ranking government official, and from a young age, she was taught that obedience was power. She excelled in academics, particularly in psychology and behavioral sciences, before obtaining a law degree from Yonsei University. Her early career was spent in corporate law, where she specialized in contract negotiation and crisis management for high-profile clients. Her talent for silencing problems before they escalated caught the attention of Hwang Taeran, who recruited her into VISTA MUSIC in 2010 as part of his growing empire. Unlike Taeran, whose ambitions were rooted in artistry and control, Suri was pragmatic. She didn’t care about the creative side of the industry—her only concern was ensuring that VISTA MUSIC’s operations remained untouchable. She was the one who rewrote contracts, sealed records, and eliminated risks. When THE VEIL debuted, it was Suri who managed their external image. She ensured that no journalist dug too deep, that no former trainees spoke out, that no anomalies in their behavior raised alarm. And when Cho Haerin—the ghost trainee—escaped, it was Suri who buried the evidence. But now, the system is unstable. Someone always remembers. And Park Suri’s job is to make sure they forget.

Neurodivergency becomes the Norm
old drawing that was meant to be my final spectember entry for this year.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To the people who built the guidestones in orbit of our world. This message is towards you and the rest of your kind
We are the Savunato of the planet Apsis in the Oese system. it may not seem like it, but we believe to be your descendants. You may not remember our ancestors of your kind, who first landed on Apsis. It has been 10 million years since that happened. But we are happy to refresh your memory.
From the knowledge we gathered, catastrophe had struck your home planet. We don't know what happened, but it was bad enough for your kind to lose all hope of mending what was broken.
So you looked to the stars for a second chance. In a last ditch effort to save your kind, you launched the Eos Ark program. Sending 35 colony ships across a sea of stars, looking for any habitable planet to call home.
However those colony ships were flawed, they were made in a rush. And had no way of holding its own plants and animals to start agriculture. And too little gear for the colonists to survive in their current form.
Our colony ship just so happened to land here on Apsis. And we couldn’t have been more thankful for it. Apsis is very much like earth, having her own oceans and life. The flora here are fleshy and adorned with red broad leaves. While the fauna walked on three legs, saw with three eyes, and were protected by a woody exoskeleton.
By our sheer luck, the 6 planets of our system had aligned and gifted us a world we could actually survive on. The native life was digestible and the air was breathable. We had our second chance.
Our ancestors’ ship however, was ill-prepared. Again there were barely any tools to help them survive in their current form. We couldn’t shape the world to our needs.The world shaped us to her needs. We adapted, and we evolved.
Relative to your anatomy and lifestyle. Our arms became hyper-extended and stronger. Meaning we can switch between bipedal and quadrupedal locomotion on the fly. Our ancestral thumbs have become vestigial. In place of this, our Index and pinky fingers have become opposable so we can manipulate our environment once more. Our faces too have elongated, our teeth grew harder to get through the exoskeletons of our prey. And we grew fangs to slice through the trees.
One of the most significant things in our history was a slow but all encompassing change to the way we think of the world. Several mental states spurred on by genetics had spread across our population. Mental conditions you would classify as Autism, ADHD, OCD, Dyslexia, Anxiety, Depression, and so on. For you, you’d call us neurodivergent, For us it’s simply the norm, It makes us who we are.
Our modern society has been slowly reworked from the ground up. All in order to empower our new mentality. Now revolving around organization and efficiency. Our work ethic is streamlined to the point where we can get all the day’s work done before noon. With our goal being placed on long term results rather than pure production. Extreme emphasis has been put on the care and wellbeing for the developmentally disabled.
We put as much care into texture as they do with colors and patterns. Plenty of our cultures have a wide array of both visual and tactile patterns and a variety of textures to best fit the wearer. And affection through physical contact is revered as a sign of deep trust within many of our cultures.
We have sailed far beyond the reaches of our new cradle. Reaching new heights by reaching the other worlds that orbit our sun. We’ve explored, colonized, and have begun terraforming the most habitable worlds to make them as comfortable as apsis. We have even begun plunging into the interstellar depths to survey our closest neighbors.
One day we found your wayward stones. The plaques made of the spirit of our original homeworld, like the embers of a great fire holding out in the cold quiet night. We found them on the space station that brought you here, that brought our ancestors down to apsis.
I myself, the Savunato writing this, was one of the lucky few to board your station. We found it still orbiting apsis, Everything was still intact and untouched like a day hadn’t passed. Like we were connected from the depths of time.
We looked to the cosmos to find the others. Sending probes out into deep space with our history. And beaming messages to distant stars, All in hopes of finding you or another one of your descendants. No one’s responded so far, We may very well be the last living descendants of your kind.
If any of you are still out there. Let us show you we did it. we did it humanity, we made it. We survived. We made it through the toughest Apsis had to offer. We shared the worst mistakes the both of us have made. We learned for the better. We kept the flame going. May we survive for another 10 million years. May we be your successors.
If any of you are still out there.
I hope we made you proud…
Okay so I was beginning to tell myself that DA4 is not gonna be as bad of a trainwreck as the reveal trailer was. I really was. But then I finally just watched the DA4 gameplay trailer and like....
Alright Varric I respect your desperate need to convince Solas not to be a dumbass. I really do. I would do the same with more cussing. But also DO YOU WANT TO DIE IN THE INTRO SEQUENCE? And why is your hair black but grey???? Dude you are strawberry blonde what is this shite. Gimme going-grey-with-a-hint-of-red. And where is your chest hair, old man???
The character models are so... Valorant blender smooth. I keep seeing Battle Royale designer vibes and it's very strange. I know that is industry standard by this point but still... where's that Bioware stylization?? Secondly: the iconic DA design style is SOOOO muted in this. Where are my angular and pointy Tevinters? I got some of it, but like viciously sideways. Why are the demons so fuckin weird? They don't even look like the demons from the LAST THREE GAMES. They look like Bioware was running on a tight schedule given to them by EA at gunpoint and decided to cut the models down to save on time. Which... Yikes. Yikes my guy.
The dialogue wheel is janky. I know this is still supposedly pre-launch but... Did they really just slap the old UI with a different visual style? Bro you had TEN YEARS. And also, who the hell wrote your dialogue? And when was Varric ever that close to Solas? They respected each other, sure. But best bros? Solas is notoriously introverted. People made jokes about it. This is some fake news.
Thirdly, I'm a little puzzled by the hyper drama of the Arlathan forest ritual shite. I am aware the stuff behind the scenes in the comics have been talking about shit happening in the forest, but... Okay, correct me if I'm wrong: Solas raised the Veil at Skyhold. His theoretical resources to raise said Veil were his orb and the central locality of said castle. Cool shit. What the fuck are these statues? Are they supposed to represent the gods? If so, what the fuck are you doing USING THOSE, SOLAS? AND ARE THOSE FIGURES EMERGING FROM THE HOLE IN THE VEIL SUPPOSED TO BE THE CORRUPTED EVANURI?? WHY ARE THEY DESIGNED LIKE A FUCKIN HYLICS 2 CHARACTER? (no disrespect, I love Hylics 2) I just... I recognize that Solas is desperate to fix his wrongs and theoretically save everyone from the Evanuri (because if the theory the elven gods are inflicted with the blight is still true, then yeah ya gotta kill the source of the blight) so he's seeking out dangerous shortcuts, but... Idk man. Idk. I am just sooooo skeptical of this. This has so much more obvious "EA has its paws on a franchise and proceeds to ruin it" energy. I am sooooo skeptical.
My positive opinion? Solas looks great. Did he fuckin growl like a wolf when he smashed Bianca with his glowy eyes? Yes, yes he did. Are the landscapes awesome? Yes. Is the companion programming still janky even in the new game? Yes. Is that floating building a magical panopticon?! Possibly, and that's fascinating. Are the voice actors the same? Can't quite tell, because I can hear voice mixing happening to their voices so either they aren't the same VAs but they're tuning them to sound close or they are not putting full effort into the VA shit until release. Am I an EA hater?
Yeah, but that's because I have been burned too many times to believe EA won't ruin a glorious RPG franchise. I'll try to stay optimistic, but I am struggling.
#dragon age#da4#dragon age veilguard#my rambling thoughts on the matter#i am so skeptical y'all#this shit makes me uneasy#solas looks cool tho#i hope dorian is somewhere looking distinguished and older#also please please please let there be some Inquisitior guest star scenes#i need a lavellan having a vent#also HAWKE BRO WHERE YOU AT?#EA you better not fuck this up for us#but i have a horrible feeling YOU WILL
Things That I Use To Help Manage My ADHD and Executive Dysfunction
1. To Do Lists
I know, I know.
Making a list is boring. I lose the paper. I forget to make the to do list.
Believe me, I know.
I've been there, but trust me it does help once you get into the habit.
Here's some tips on how to get started
Try making your list in a digital app or a document file so you don't lose it
Sticky notes in a place you're sure to see them
An erasable board like a marker board or a chalkboard that you keep up in a specific place and never move. Like on the wall or the fridge.
Put "make 'to do' list" on the to do list so you don't forget to do it
Set aside a certain time to fill out or check off the list each day. Consistency is key.
Use calendars, alarms, and timers liberally to keep track of appointments and to manage your time so you don't hyper-focus on something to the determinant of more important things
But be flexible for things that don't have deadlines or appointments. Don't beat yourself up if something doesn't get done, just add it back onto the list for next time
2. Randomizers
Part of the problem with executive dysfunction is being overwhelmed by choice. So I keep a few randomizer websites booked marked that I use regularly
Wheel pickers
List randomizers
Random number generators
Like I keep my list of projects on a wheel picker app. And my chores that I don't have deadlines for on another. When making my to do list I'll spin the wheel to pick the project or chore that I'm going to work on that day.
I do the same when picking out albums to listen to or movies to watch so I don't go doom scrolling while wasting time deciding.
3. Meal Planning
Similar to the above, I take one day out of the week to draw up my meal plan for the next week.
Use this time to take stock of your pantry and fridge. What needs to get used up?
Anything special you want to fix over the week or weekend? Save the recipes to a document or leave a bookmark in your cookbook
Overwhelmed with choices or just don't know what to do with certain ingredients? Try a randomizer or an app like supercook to come up with ideas.
After you've taken inventory of your kitchen and figured out any special recipes you want to make, go ahead and fill out your grocery list
Set aside time on your to do list for shopping, meal prep, and cooking through out the week.
Pre-plan what days/times you are going to eat out or get takeout and work that into the meal plan/budget
Budget not only your money but also your time. How long will this recipe take to prep/cook? How much effort will it require of me? Is there any shortcuts I can take to make things easier, like buying my veggies already diced?
Try using an app to keep track of your meal plan, grocery list, and recipes so that they're all in one place
4. Mental Health Apps
I like Booster Buddy, but it's no longer supported for newer devices. I have also used Finch. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter which app you choose.
The point of having a program dedicated for mental health is to have a handy way to check in on yourself and see how you are feeling. Many apps will offer visual cues to allow you to break down your motivation and energy levels.
This will help give you a guideline for the day so you don't stretch yourself too thin.
A good app will also offer little suggestions and tips to help improve your mood or provide genteel reminders for small things that help with self care.
But most importantly it will help you spot patterns over time so you can better notice ongoing problems or see gradual changes as you get better.
5. Finding and Avoiding What Triggers My Dissociation
This is the hardest one.
I suffer from Maladaptive Daydreaming on top everything else which only makes my ADD and Executive Dysfunction even worse.
For others it maybe obsessive compulsion or a tendency to hyper-focus.
Things that I found that can be triggers are boredom, anxiety, isolation, health/dietary complications, and even the weather.
So here's some things I noticed that help
Set aside a certain time during the day to read/watch the news and then ignore it for the rest of the day. Yes be informed, but don't obsess.
Get your news from actual reputable news sources and not social media! Avoid algorithms feeding you negativity.
If you want to be more politically active schedule time for it, get involved with actual charities or political organizations, and then go about your regular business afterwards
Limit social media time. For me it's mornings before work for about 30mins, and then maybe an hour after work.
Curate your online experience. Block what you need to. Unfollow who you see fit. Social media should be fun not stressful.
Talk to other people! Make plans to hang out on weekends or call/text someone during the weekday. Try to make contact with another human being in some form everyday for at least a few mins, even if it's just online in a discord chat.
Have a book or notepad handy for when you get bored at work. Read, write, or draw during your downtime so you don't start staring off into space.
Keep a short list of fun things to do handy if you feel bored at home.
Set aside time to daydream/worry/plan/meditate/decompress. You need to mentally unwind at some point. The goal is to have that time per-planned so that it doesn't distract from other needed tasks. Getting into a routine with that time will also help.
Eating enough iron/vitamin C/protein ect. Food is energy and you need energy to focus. Meal planning will help with this.
TAKE YOUR MEDS!!!
Sometimes the weather will make you groggy, irritated, or anxious. There's not much you can do about this other than to accept it and just try your best.
You can however plan for bad weather ahead of time. Go to the National Weather site to find out about upcoming weather in your area and to figure what you need to be prepared for it. Try getting into the habit of doing this regularly.
#adhd#mental health#I am not a doctor#these are just things that help me#they might be helpful you#but don't treat my advice as medical orders
House of the Dying Sun indirectly put in my head the notion of a quasi-mystical monastic order of starfighter pilots, a notion that's both thematically cool and (in a setting where dogfighting rather than hanging back and shooting hypersonic missiles from beyond visual range) one of the handful of contexts where a hyper-elite trained-for-years order of warriors is actually notably more effective man-for-man than a conventional military program.
So that's probably going in some or another setting of mine at some point.
A Common Mischaracterization of Miles Quaritch & Why it's Wrong
The idea that he hates/dislikes his Na'vi body and what it means; identity crisis.
- This is not necessarily wrong in every facet, but it still holds a great deal of mischaracterization due to the idea's inability to nuance where the identity crisis actually is. Most opinions I've seen regarding Quaritch's stance on his new specie-transition have been that he dislikes/hates the fact that he's "Na'vi" now. This is an incorrect conclusion, albeit understandable why a person might think that way. I only say this with confidence because there is canon content within the "Avatar: A Visual Guide" book that explicitly states Quaritch's positive stance on his recombinant state. The text itself reads, "Unlike humans and machines, Recoms are not detected by Eywa as a threat due to their Na'vi DNA. This means that Recoms can walk freely through Pandora without triggering Eywa's immune response of dispatching animals to defend the moon. Going undetected by Eywa gives Quaritch the tactical advantage he's always wanted in the forest: using Na'vi-like stealth, he is able to establish his own hunting ground." I personally believe where the lines blur for people is how they remember human Quaritch. It's an astoundingly fair assumption that Quaritch as a person hates the Na'vi, and you'd be correct in that regard, considering his derogatory language toward them (Natives, Blue monkeys, etc.) But, that's where it's important to differentiate between the physicality of the Na'vi versus their culture. Quaritch is a naturally advantageous person, which is perfectly exemplified in the text above where it says, "Going undetected by Eywa gives Quaritch The tactical advantage he's always wanted in the forest: using Na'vi-like stealth, he is able to establish his own hunting ground." This shows that while he doesn't like what the Na'vi do, and their culture, he is completely and utterly willing to even the odds by physically adapting to Pandora. Even if some of the advantages were unknown at the time when proj. Pheonix (Recom program) came to be (Eywa being unable to determine the recombinants from natives, etc.), there were still a great deal of advantages on the table, all to do with having the hyper-adapted Na'vi physiology. Since we know Quaritch is highly persevering individual, it's genuinely no shock that he wouldn't have a problem with being blue and 9 ft. tall if it gave him the edge he needed to complete his mission. Part of this can be contributed to the fact that he is evidently not a vain person. Hell, one of the first scenes we see of him is him telling Jake that he could have rotated back to Earth and had his facial scars fixed nicely, but he chose not to. His reasoning has a little less to do with the point here, but for the sake of the record, he chalks it up to wanting to remind himself what lies in Pandora's "dangerous' forests every day. I may be regurgitating a little bit here, but it really does prove that above all else, his looks are definitely NOT the highest thing on his list of concerns. Each and every time, it's been his duty above all else.
- Miles Quaritch CONSENTED to the recombinant program. I feel like that part goes over people's heads a bit, because it wasn't explicitly stated. But, to clarify on behalf of the seeable cinema and dialogue, Quaritch absolutely had the choice to not go through with the program. His exact words, "In two hours, I fly a mission against the Na'vi's stronghold. The powers that be, thought it prudent that I do this backup just in case," appear to indicate that there was no force behind the matter. "The powers that be" is most definitely in reference to corporate, and "thought it prudent" gives the idea that they proposed the idea rather than enforced it. We all know Quaritch isn't a complacent person by any means, so it's hard to imagine they really forced him to do anything without an iota of retaliation from his behalf.
- That being said, it brings another interesting point. Parker Selfridge says, "So see this? This is all your memories and your personality. We're gonna send this back to Earth...where you're growing in a lab as we speak." Growing in a lab. As we speak. At the very precise moment of the explanation, Quaritch had essentially an Avatar already growing. Whether he died or not. The soul crystal was the backup, not the Avatar! Not to be dramatic, but that's a huge, HUGE indicator that Quaritch doesn't give a shit about being blue. Otherwise, what other option is there? Quaritch was also already confident that he wasn't going to die based on the fact that he says, "What you won't remember is my death because it hasn't happened yet, and it ain't gonna," so the only other reasonable assumption was that that man was gonna be blue (consensually) whether he died at the Battle of the Tree of Souls or not. (A little unimportant tangent note, but that notion also makes me wonder if eventually Quaritch would've made a permanent mental transition to his Na'vi once his human body got to be a too old, just because he was 51 when he died, and would've been 57/58 when his avatar arrived to Pandora for use. But, anyway.)
- His identity crisis provably lies within the Soul Drive, not his new body. But first, I implore you to think about how finely crafted this movie is made before I really get into anything. Scenes (especially ones containing Spider AKA basically any Quaritch scene) are meticulously crafted through a rigorous cycle of refilming, capturing, post-editing, and digital effects. James, as the director, personally shot the scenes himself as well. Anything put into the narrative of Avatar: The Way of Water was intentional. There is not even a possibility for even a "stormtrooper hitting his head" moment. With all of this being said, I want to say that we see absolutely ZERO scenes with Quaritch expressing an iota of contempt for himself for be genetically Na'vi. The only thing that comes slightly close is when he touches his tooth after waking up, and says "Well, ain't this a bitch," but the most logical explanation for his reaction isn't that he hates that he came back as Na'vi (again he literally SAID YES TO THE IDEA), but rather the realization that he died (and lost the battle.) Basically a "...godamnit" moment. Digressing to the main point, any scene with a supposed body identity crisis moment is more about him being a hater more than anything, like when he crushes his old skull. He's maaaaaad Jake Sully/Neytiri fuckin' got his ass after all that went down, and he probably feels like a failure. The contempt on his face for his failed actions is palpable in that scene. That being said, I would like to add another example of it, but there just isn't any. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong in some way, but there isn't a single other scene of his where he explicitly acknowledges his physical differences. It just doesn't seem... Important. It's certainly not as important to him than killing Jake. His body is a means to an end at this point.
- He expresses more conflict about who he was and who he currently considers himself to be. When he speaks to Spider about himself, he refers to his former life in the third person, and acts as an entity seperate of Spider's "father." Saying things like "I'm not that man," and "But, I have enough of his memories to know that he wasn't always the best father." Now, I COULD potentially be tweakin', because Quaritch never says stuff like that again, and certainly doesn't act like he actually feels that way (Saying Jake personally betrayed him, not former Quaritch, etc.) He could have been manipulating Spider into taking his side by 1) disconnecting himself from the man his kid so clearly despises and 2) Portending as though he's different. Regardless, it still adds a layer of ambiguity about his true feelings that will definitely be roved over and explored in the upcoming films.
~
To conclude my yapping session, I want to express that I'm not attacking Headcanons. If this is something you want to personally believe because it's canon in your head, I'm not going to complain. I just wanted to yap because I've seen some people suggest before in the past that he probably hates his na'vi body, and I simply disagree. Thank yew for reading.
From this ask game! With pleasure! 2. Robotization Super awake | awake | skeptically awake | skeptically trancey | dropping | hypnotized | DEEPLY Mesmerized | … *mindless drooling*
This has been one of my main subkinks for...oh I don't wanna say forever, but ever since I've had this kink. The thing is that there's a definite emphasis on the "-ization" part for me; it's the contrast between a being (organic, robotic or otherwise) with agency to a mindless automaton that obeys its programming that does it for me. A robot that begins as mindless and stays that way doesn't move the needle. A person that gets brainwashed into thinking like a robot does, as does an android with agency and subjective experience (e.g. is "alive") that has that agency suppressed.
Also a lot of the "tropes" outside of the mindlessness -- monotone speech, coded speech, uniforms, "robotic" movements -- are very hit-or-miss. It can easily become corny for me. I'm more of a Detroit: Become Human -style hyper-realistic android enthusiast than a Metropolis stan, you know?
Still, a definite fave. 💚 *** 34. Pendants / Pocket Watches
Super awake | awake | skeptically awake | skeptically trancey | dropping | hypnotized | DEEPLY Mesmerized | … *mindless drooling*
I am a sucker for the tropes, as I am fond of saying. I also love a good visual fixation, from both sides of the...well, watch 🤭 Pocket watches are maximum points for tropeyness, plus they make a lovely eye-strain with the swinging. There's a vaguely embarassing "omg I'm such a basic bitch" undertone to this, but it somehow adds to the fun : "yeah I love hypnosis so much that even something as cliche as swinging a pocket watch in front of my face gets me"
Crystal pendants are top tier for magical enchantment vibes. Capturing one's mind in the crystal, holding their gaze magically transfixed, dragging the pendant and the helplessly ensnared hypnotee with it...yummy 😊
Other kinds of pendants hit that same "you'll drop for anything" zone that pocket watches live in.
88. Visual / Video Induction
Super awake | awake | skeptically awake | skeptically trancey | dropping | hypnotized | DEEPLY Mesmerized | … *mindless drooling*
Not my fave, but it's still "most" of what I like ^^ I've actually been more comfortable with doing hypnosis over video lately! For reference, I tend to do most of my play in a physical setting, and so doing it over the web for the first time in a while was definitely an adjustment. It's made me realize how much I relied on touch and physical presence as a hypnotist. But hey, constraints breed creativity! I've had fun creating fun spins on kinesthetic inductions over video.
I have yet to experience a one-on-one video trance from the hypnotee side, though I am curious!
#hypnokink asks#thank you so much for the ask my friend <3#it is one of those things that are such Tumblr Culture to me#and I love participating in it
Over 20 years im 35, aol chat and latch key kid lol
2. Describe your first experience with hypnosis
A child therapist when I was 6 or 7
3. Are there any TV shows/movies/books you liked when you were younger that you think got you into hypnosis?
Multiple - one early memory is of the droopy cartoon and Elvira brainwashes him, also the schooby do ghoul school movie brainwashing bat headphones, the snake in jungle book iant a hard hitting memory.
4. Are you primarily a hypnotist or a subject?
Subject but am adapt as a tist
5. Are you primarily a dom/me or a sub?
Super duper submissive lol like it's embarrassing
6. What do you love about being hypnotised?
The loss of anxiety, my brain being "off", and the submission relates to it.
7. What do you love about hypnotising people?
I actually really enjoy training or coaching, so Im not dominant but love helping someone achieve thier goals. I see it a lot like a service.
8. How do you feel when hypnotised?
When I'm really deep I'm absent like totally disassociation. Like floating in water almost with the reverberation of the water
9. How do you feel when you hypnotise someone else?
Like when I zone out playing a video game, I need to hit the right buttons to win the game. So I get self tranced kinda.
10. Are you a difficult subject?
Yes and no. Im super easy to drop, enjoy, and play with. However my subconscious is pretty wild, and hard to pin down into a focused direction. So long term results may very lol..
11. What’s your ‘signature move’ as a hypnotist?
Doing what the subject wants, staying very in limits, and leaving the subject with a deep enjoyment of water. Actually enjoying the taste of possible...cause it's almost sadistic to make anti hydrating people hydrate lol
12. What’s your favourite kind of hypnotic induction?
Consented to conversational hypnosis that leads into Ericksonian themed guidance.
13. Do you like visual fixation (on spirals, eyes, swinging objects etc.) for hypnosis?
I love it lol. But sometimes it's better for bdsm rp hypnosis and less for getting good results.
14. What are your favourite kinds of hypnosis play?
I really enjoy fetish creation and accidental self help for others. For me...well, I like hard kinks cnc addition, memory play, corruption, if I had irl hypno dom ild be pretty free use..
15. What other kinks do you like to incorporate into your hypno play?
Pet play, equipment, feminization, toilet play,.identity play, all sorts. It could literally make any scene more fun for me. It's my number one kink.
16. For you, is the appeal of hypnosis primarily sexual or not?
It's both relaxing, a hobby, and sexual. It's kinda just my favorite thing lol
17. What are some post-hypnotic suggestions you particularly enjoy (for others or yourself)?
I love simple pleasure triggers. .good girl is so classic, good boy, good pet , those are just the best.
18. Describe your best experience involving hypnosis
My long term enjoyment of Bambi files.
19. Describe a bad experience you had involving hypnosis? Why was it bad? Why did it go wrong?
I worked with a subject over the course of months, experimenting with hypnosis capabilities, we decided to try and have their hair color change through natural causes. What ended up happening was that their subconscious took over, made them go into what.thwy described as "drone mode" even tho that had never been a theme we used. And purchased hair dye, almost got kicked out of their home as they were just 19 and parents hadn't accepted them as fem. It was pretty scary and not meant to ever become unsafe for them, we took a few days to de program her entirely after that. And then she ghosted me. I understand why, even though it was all consented to, I learned a lot about the limits of hypnosis.
20. What’s one tip you have for other hypnotists/subjects?
Every one's sensations are hyper individualistic as a newer subject. The one thing I'd want both sets to know, is that new subjects should not be directed to feel anything like heavy or light or floaty. Just say trance or hypnosis, then identify the feeling they associate to trance. This is the number issue i see, new subjects feel like failures because they're sensations don't line up with the guides suggestions this loosing faith and trust in the trancing process. And for hypnotists it's probably just because of troupes and the average trance script as those things in them.
21. Do you have any tips for how to negotiate hypnosis play?
It has to be consented to before scene starts.period. consent is sexy. Even if it's premising cnc. Communication is key to any relationship, and kinky dynamics are just that personified. Having an understanding of what the subjects long term wants are important with hypnosis play, also it has to be stared that deep real hypnosis is a R.A.C.K practice if done right. If the subject is blanking an entire trance, that's akin to needing a trip nanny while using hallucinating on illicit things. Like asphyxiation play, public humiliation, and a few others hypnosis can have out-of-the-scenes consequences. Hence why knowing your subjects over all goals for interaction is sooo important. Do they want an escape? Or do they want to loose human rights(in a kinky consenting way for 24/7 pets).
22. Do you like your hypnosis to involve power exchange, or not?
I enjoy it when I'm the subject but avoid it as the hypnotist
23. For you, how does hypnosis fit into a relationship? Just in the bedroom, or as part of BDSM relationship?
It can be both. Or one or the other. It's such a dynamic activity I would personally hate to limit it.
24. Are you interested in a 24/7 hypnotic enslavement relationship?
Yes. Way more than a healthy amount lol.
25. Have you ever experienced strong, sudden feelings for a hypnotist/subject? How did you deal with that?
Yes. It's kinda normal for me for anyone who's nice to me, for me to immediately dive deep. I just roll with it when it's not reciprocated as it's the sop at this point lol
26. Are you interested in hypnotising/being hypnotised by people of a gender you are not attracted to?
So as a pansexual... n/a lol. But I do prefer feme people so getting tranced by masq people? Still yes lol
27. What’s your favourite work of hypnosis erotica?
There was a omniscient therapy story that was great lol but don't get to read much
28. What’s your favourite spiral?
The ones in my DMs lol is there a bad one?
29. What’s your favourite hypno-themed image/caption/piece of art?
Hmmm 🤔 platinum puppets is winning right now .
31. What’s your favourite book/movie/TV show that includes hypnosis?
Hmmm anime lol
32. Describe your biggest fantasy involving hypnosis?
The hole 10 yards honestly, life take over. For me, getting actually kidnapped and changed to their liking
33. Do you have any fantasies about non-consensual hypnosis? Describe them
...yes...waking up to pictures getting taken of me then blanking out again, waking up in a pink room and not being able to.focus, then it starts again. Then getting shown all the porn I've been made into while not in trance. Simple private messages with no description, hypnosis files linked and told to listen with no knowledge of the script. So many ways to give my mind away 🤤
34. What’s one fictional character you’ve fantasised about hypnotising/being hypnotised by?
Poison ivy
35. Do you like intelligence loss/bimbofication hypnosis? Why?
Probably my favorite. I can't stop thinking. About things wildly out of my control. Also choices give me anxiety. You know who doesn't do that? Dumb bimbos
36. Do you like amnesia play? Why?
Yes, it's just an intense rush being unaware of my own actions..a loss of control able to be identified internally. It's like the control is inside me. And it's lovely
37. Do you like freeze triggers? Why?
Yes and no .they just don't really feeze my body.
38. Do you like pleasure triggers? Why?
Mmmmmmmm yeah. For one good girl is a trigger I cant stop. At all. It happens 100%. No choice so it s just fun. But who doesn't want pleasure??? Like obvious
39. Do you like alternate personalities created through hypnosis? Why?
Not really. I don't wish my natural state on any one. It's hard
40. Do you like feminization hypnosis? Why?
Yes. Its such a nice thing for trans fems. And honestly it just a great way to do forced.fem link scenes
41. Have you ever experienced a “hands-free” orgasm as a result of hypnosis?
No, 😔😔😔 but the amount of leaking and throbbing without touching is wild
42. Which famous person do you think has the most hypnotic voice?
Tom Hiddleston
43. If you make hypnosis content, what’s your favourite piece of content you’ve made?
I don't yet but plan on it
44. Have you ever used hypnotic conditioning to help you or someone else with a part of your/their life?
Bambi files helped me accept myself as non binary trans fem. And have helped many people get better healthy lifestyles myself
45. Have you ever been to a hypnosis convention? Did you enjoy it, or not? Why?
I have not..but wow does that sound fun.
46. How has being involved with hypnosis/the hypno community improved your life?
Out of all the communities online, hypnosis is the most accepting of extreme thoughts that don't translate to extreme actions. Being able to express things and explore in a safe community has been life saving for me multiple times over the years.
47. What is one thing about the hypnosis community you think could change for the better?
Hhmmm I wish hypno therapy practicers were more willing to help the hypno kink community be ethical and just ban hammer it so much from open discussion.
48. Who is one person in the hypno community you really admire?
Mind Mistress. Old but gold. And her team in the 2000s was just the best thing ever
49. What is your favourite hypnosis-themed blog on tumblr?
Neural Nets and pretty patterns is solid. I dont know much about the creators. But the content is on point.
karma again! just out of curiosity since i'm a bit confused, but are you a system with a korosensei fictive?
No, but I can totally see how you'd get that idea, the way I talk is confusing. I'm surprised you're the first to ask honestly.
You know how some people waste resources with like, Character AI chat bots? It's like that, but the computer is my brain.
I'll get really hyper focused on a character and build up their personality, reactions, likes and dislikes and such in my head until they're basically fully functionally in there and running on their own, talking to me or other characters bounding around up there.
For most it's temporary, they'll run for a month or so straight and then shut off to rest. They're still THERE, just not on.
But for Koro-Sensei he's basically always on. I'm constantly running his programming because I like seeing how he reacts to things, mostly media I'm into at the moment, and I feel very confident about how I visualize him.
So no, not a system, no alters, it's just me and my wildly overactive imaginary Koro-Sensei program against the world.
#Thankyou for asking#Sorry if this makes like NO sense I'm doing the best I can to explain it#In simpler terms it's an active choice to have a character in my brain#It's like something I actively have to think about and what not for them to be there#I'm just saying I know them so well that I don't have to think about how they react to things#They just do and I report on it#Especially Koro-Sensei he is like a constant background noise to me#And I love him <3#Oh I mentioned Chat AI cause it's the only thing I could think of to compare this to#Because it's the same principle of Observing Learning Mimicking Reconstructing#But I am VERY Anti-AI if you use Character AI get off my blog this is a hard stance#Anyway. Sorry again for the confusion#There was a while there myself where I thought I might be a System or maybe Soulbonded or something like that#But no it's just Me in here and my silly little imaginary connections#I did my research before coming to this conclusion don't worry#Thanks again for asking
