sept - ough HAS to be the rnseis !!!! (x) another i could reread a billion times, i really feel like i cooked with this one. got rin having confused feelings abt sae, dom isagi, plenty of smut, and rnse tentative reconciliation. banger after banger tbh

oct - IT'S A TIE i refuse to decide so soft karasae summer vacation (x) AND horny not-technically-gay-sex gay sex rinsae cannibalism (x) which i adored both of for very different reasons lmao

nov - a doozy of a month with lots of prompt fics BUT i still have to love my dairy farmer kaiser kiis fic (x) above all. what can i say, i love making kaiser insufferably vulnerable around isagi and making isagi insanely determined to. be around him.

dec - i swore i wasn't gonna write this til i was done with the mall au but somehow it snuck up on me anyway so i wrote an entire 'stuck in an airport' fic (x) with some fun rarepairs (ryukara, otoya/chigiri/sendou, kunibarou, raiku) plus kaisagi which isn't remotely rare lmao

While Africa has been historically underrepresented in the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) on the global stage, these industries are now undergoing a renaissance on the continent and attracting global attention. Improving technological infrastructure is allowing more African and global consumers to access CCI products via new channels. This comes at a time when Africa’s rapidly growing middle class population represents an expanding market for firms, while international consumers are becoming increasingly aware of African creative goods. Digital payment platforms also are diversifying the ways African consumers can pay for CCI goods. These developments have opened opportunities for new sectors of the CCIs as consumers shift from purchasing physical to digital goods. Advertising revenues have also become an important driver of growth in the entertainment and media (E&M) sector of the CCIs on the continent.

Growing the CCIs offers unique advantages to emerging markets, particularly those in Africa. There are fewer barriers to entry in the CCIs, and the sector tends to employ a younger and more diverse workforce, providing the potential to create jobs and promote social equity. Likewise, the CCIs can promote the growth of other sectors, including manufacturing and education, wherein technology and the arts can provide new, nontraditional ways of learning and training, helping to address structural deficits. Despite limited resources, many African governments have recognized the benefits of the CCIs and established cultural ministries and national strategies to promote the growth of these industries.

International media companies are turning their attention to Africa as a lucrative opportunity for growth. Vivendi is already a big player (Goodfellow 2024) and streaming companies like Netflix are making inroads (Kazeem 2020). However, domestic media companies like South Africa’s Naspers already have a powerful foothold in the market and can be key partners for international firms looking to better understand the African consumer (Naspers, 2020). Technology investors are also helping to enhance the infrastructure that supports the CCIs. Going forward, this advanced infrastructure can promote the animation, gaming, and visual effects sectors (Hruby 2018).

While there is growth in the CCIs throughout the continent, South Africa and Nigeria are two markets that have outsized potential in the near term. South Africa’s visual arts and design, cultural festivals, and television and film industries are all areas of potential growth. Nigeria’s fashion and film industries also have incredible potential, with the rising prominence of Nollywood bringing international attention and acclaim (PwC, 2019).

The African CCI sector faces challenges like piracy (WT Research 2020), continental and global shocks such as epidemics and pandemics, and ongoing global and local conflicts. However, these risks can be mitigated through investments in digital distribution channels, business-friendly policies like stronger IP protections, and greater financial support for the CCIs.

Ultimately, incentivizing and growing the CCIs in Africa provides an opportunity for businesses, governments, and private citizens alike to promote socioeconomic development and reap high returns.

Caribbean Airlines, the flag carrier of Trinidad and Tobago and a leading airline in the Caribbean, has long been a vital connector of the region’s islands.

When Caribbean Airlines took to the skies on January 1, 2007, as the successor to BWIA West Indies Airways, it inherited a mission to unite the diverse islands of the Caribbean. While Boeing 737-800s served longer routes, the airline needed a reliable and cost-effective aircraft for short inter-island flights. Initially, this role was filled by the De Havilland Canada Dash 8-300, but by the late 2000s, Caribbean Airlines transitioned to the ATR 72-500 to expand its regional operations.

By the early 2020s, Caribbean Airlines recognized the need to modernize its regional fleet to align with global aviation trends. The ATR 72-500s, though reliable, were aging, and the airline sought a successor to enhance efficiency and elevate onboard services. Today's Dog: The Pembroke Welsh Corgi! These are small dogs originally bred for herding, although nowadays they are pretty much exclusively companion dogs. These specific Corgis are most closely associated with Queen Elizabeth II, who had over two dozen of them in her lifetime, the first of which was named Dookie. However, the PWC of the 1930s is actually really distinct from modern ones, particularly in face shape and features (Seriously, look up pics of her first corgi. It's crazy...) PWCs are the more popular of the two corgis, particularly in America.

Today's Monkee: Star Collector from Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones (1967)! This song was written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, and was produced by Chip Douglas. It's a Davy lead, with Peter on organ, Mike on electric guitar, and Micky doing harmony vocals. It was recorded on June 22nd, 1967!

My match of the year for 2024 is not Ospreay Vs Danielson

And it's not even Roderick Strong Vs Orange Cassidy at Revolution. Despite that being my favourite AEW match this year.

Like don't get me wrong. Ospreay/Dragon was amazing. Insanely good. Had one of the best spots in any match in 2024 with the staredown, into Hidden Blade/Busaiku Knee clash. But it isn't my personal match of the year if I'm honest with you my friend. My personal match of the year didn't happen in AEW.

My personal match of the year was:

Sunshine Machine Vs The East City Butchers Vs Trew & Lacey Vs Medusa Complex from Pro Wrestling Creasefire - Justice Will Shine On

Why? Well because the show was for a good cause (unicef relief for Palestine and Lebanon donate here), because I was there live, and because it was the most buckwild match I've ever seen.

Look here, look how much Chali Evans is smiling. You know this match was a good time.

Now obviously dear reader, you could just watch this match right now on the pro wrestling ceasefire YouTube channel. But if you want more convincing that this was ace, here's a few highlights.

Jordan Saeed tries and fails to execute a low blow on Charli Evans.

There is a spot where everyone who isn't Trew or Lacey bodyslams someone else onto Trew and Lacey (Trew and Lacey are great hate able heels who take all the heat in this match for the other six popular babyfaces.) And then after all this Sha Samuels tries to bodyslam Ref Oscar onto Trew and Lacey but Oscar reverses it and slams him onto the heels.

The action spills into the crowd and Sha yells about the cheapness of the bar before smashing two beers over the heads of Trew and Lacey. After this beer was on the floor and Kieron Lacey slipped over literally right in front of me.

Chuck Mambo accidentally executes a springboard splash onto Ref Tom Scarborough as part of a hilarious series of ref bump spots.

Also I have to shout out the best running joke in all of wrestling. Basically the team Sunshine Machine consist of British wrestler Chuck Mambo and Samoan wrestler TK Cooper. And in almost every Sunshine Machine match there is a spot where Mambo is out on the floor and someone attacks TK's head but he isn't effected by it. His opponents pause like "Oh shit" and Chuck Mambo kips up and shouts "He's Samoan!" Before they hit a double-headbutt, which Mambo sells and TK doesn't. I love it so much.

This match also contains the best finish in any wresting match ever. Jordan Saeed brings out a cuck chair before being choked out in it and 'forced to watch' as Charli Evans taps out Saeed' tag pattner Sha Samuels. Brilliant.

This match was so fucking fun ok. The absolute best time I've ever had watching wrestling. I love all the wrestlers in it, and I really think they had as much fun wrestling it as I did watching it. So please watch the match if you have time, it's worth it trust me. Robert Gilby has announced his resignation as CEO of Dentsu APAC through a LinkedIn post. Appointed in September 2022, Gilby had taken over the position from Ashish Bhasin and played a key role in leading the company’s operations across the region.
