Though we've seen an instance of this in Helluva Boss already, my personal HC is that gifting or receiving flowers is downright rude or even seen as an insult; especially to sinners/non-hellborn

It's a subtle, but physical way of saying "Fuck You" or "You're stuck here for a reason". Most people will receive the most flowers when they die. And, most sinners either would become irrationally uncomfortable at their mention of death, or would not want to talk about it. It's a startling reminder that they're not ACTUALLY alive and that their time on Earth ended; they'll never be or see what they want, or get/do what they loved on Earth again. For some sinners it can be harrowing and very jarring. And some are too stupid to know any better.

Specific characters that I think would practice it:

Alastor - you can't tell me he doesn't send them to Vox, who is mostly clueless. Hence his on-the-fence feelings towards the Radio Demon. Also very versed with standard flower meanings/languages, so each bouquet is unique, and eloquently illustrates just how much he hates the picture-box man.

Rosie - A 'kill them with kindness' or back-handed gesture type of gal. Also well versed with flower meanings (she had gifted a book of the meanings to Alastor to make his bouqets even MORE sickening). Regularly sends the old bat Susan flowers to appease her. Susan is none the wiser. Rosie wants nothing more than to kill her. And she hopes that Double Hell is real so she'd finally ✨️cease to exist✨️

I ALSO believe that either Rosie picked up on the habit from Alastor, or vice versa. But Alastor would point out one day over "tea and gossip" how gauche a gesture like that is. And ever since, the two REVEL in subtly pissing people off!!!

I have been reading a lot of QPR/acespec/arospec Alastor fics and lemme tell you

I am so immensely greatful y'all are truly exploring his asexuality. I've never seen fics do that. I, an ace, haven't even really done that past the foundational "Yeah that's not (for) me" speculation.

Some fics really delved into his thought process and his place in the situation and its been very enlightening. Just seeing through another's take on asexuality/aromanticism has been eye-opening. I know others have confessed to finding out some things about themselves because of Alastor fanfiction.

It's true, representation does matter

Don't get me wrong, I live for the smut and seeing all the different dynamics the different ships bring. Those are fun. But there do be some big feels from some of these seemingly innocuous self-indulgent drabbles.

LET ME TELL YOU

THE YEARNING I feel after some of these characters just. Accept Alastor? For who he is and what he wants/doesn't want. Who are willing to metaphorically hold his his hand and walk him through the conficting ideas he has about himself and what he wants? I have no words for how special that is. It's so damn special, y'all are truly out there doin' the lord's work. (ノ_＜。) I luff you all so much
