I do not wish people happiness with jedi critical stories actually. Every single jedi critical story I’ve ever seen has been fundamentally racist and/or antisemitic so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

“Come to America,
Where the streets are paved with gold”
My father tells me not to take the subway
Fitting, that he warns me away from
Down beneath the gilding
Where ours were not the only people
They have tried to bury, as if
“Give me your tired, your poor”
Was not a parasite’s siren call
And we were not it’s meal
Gluttonous still after gorging itself
Of everything it had stolen
He does not want to see my throat slit
Dead on the tracks in the company
Of the ghosts of my unnamed ancestors
“Gravesite for the Railworker’s Daughter”

What is your Hogwarts house?
Oh anon, thank you for giving me the excuse to rant! I was a fan of harry potter when I was a young 11 year old back in 2001, and this was before JKR was realized for being a transphobe. Hell this was before anyone really comprehended just how racist and 'british' she really was! As a mixed race Japanese boy, there wasn't a lot of people who were asian in children's media (especially then) so I was a big fan of cho chang (again 11, having no idea how bad a name that was). So much a fan, I wanted her to get with harry, you know the main protagonist?
Then book 5 came out (2003), and the whole house of cards tumbled around me as I saw cho chang be bashed heavily by the fanbase and by the author herself. Written as a hysterical woman, how dare she be upset that her boyfriend was horribly murdered!?!?
How could I have been so stupid was the message I received, a british woman was never going to let her good british boy get with a filthy asian women. Like that would be degeneracy! (sarcasm) I was hurt and confused. The racism in the fanbase was the final straw.
That's not counting the stereotyping, homophobia, racism and misogyny and gender essentialism just dripping from this trash fire of a series! basically I stopped being a fan by 2004-2005. The harry potter fandom had and still has a racism problem.
But to answer your question, I guess my house would be ravenclaw. After all isn't that were all asians go!?!?!?
Fuck JKR that self righteous racist bitch, and Fuck harry potter, and seriously read another book.

Before I was with my beautiful boyfriend, I was always surprised to hear there is any kind of racism that still exists nowadays because 1) it's so fucking stupid and absurd and nonsensical, and 2) white privilege, it's not directed at me so I don't see it (duh).
It indeed has become socially unacceptable to be openly racist but the things people will say, not in front of him, but to me...!
And most of the time it's very insidious, not ill-meant stuff, but why are you saying, to me, that your blond baby that looks like you is so beautiful in your eyes, and that you would find it weird to have a baby that doesn't look like you because it's natural to find beautiful that which looks like oneself??
WHY are you laughing and using a slur about him, then proceed to explain you meant no harm because that's the running gag with one of your Chinese friends?? What do I care??? He's not your friend, don't talk about him like that??? And so out of the blue, too! Tell me you see his difference first when you think of him, without telling me you see his difference first.
The crown, of course, goes to my grandmother who, in the same breath she used to say he's so good and so kind and he's her grandson, will suddenly pull on the fucking corner of her eyes and ask if his family and him look like this while laughing as if it's a good joke. (She knows what he looks like. She's met him.) AND say some japanese-sounding nonsense.
And I've tried taking most of these in good faith (not the grandmother one, I just cut her slack because she's extremely old and unchangeable and I already know she sucks as a person), but not only do they still taste sour, sour, sour, even months or years after the fact, but the last instance of my grandmother doing that happened recently, and I've realised: they do not say or do these things in front of him. On some level, they know it's wrong. They know. They say these things to me, expecting me to dehumanise him along with them. My best friend, my lover, my companion, the best person I know. A fucking human being.
And it makes me so, so angry. And notice how they're almost always laughing, how it's always a good joke.
And if I feel like this, when it's not directed against me but against people I love....
Thankfully my immediate family (mother and siblings) are good people who never, ever said such things to me and always treat him absolutely normally.
I don't know how to react in these situations, too. I may not laugh, I may say I don't find it funny, or refuse to engage, but I never found it in me to outright rebuke. It's so startling. It's so hurtful. And I only see it because I'm with him.
Otherwise, I, too, would not notice some of this stuff, if I did hear it, and I would hear it way less often.

ok we need an e/se asian reader in the taskforce. the first time they get offered tea from price, thinking that it’s hong cha . ends up spitting it out after they take the first sip and realise it’s fucking earl grey . who teaches them torture methods that were simply just what their parents did to them as a kid . who is generally pretty nice, but can scare the living shit out of new recruits if they have to (once again, asian parent skill) . who leans over to price and discreetly asks ‘is that just a white people thing ?” whenever ghost and soap are on their shit .
just them being silly would be funny as fuck should out to all writers who do asian!readers we love you out here
(some of tags r important, please check them)

Prolly gonna be my one and only rwde post (cus the fanbase is rancid and I'm not rlly a rwby fan, just a person who watches the show): some of you rwby fans are too comfortable using your queerness as a shield to silence BIPOC voices about the racist writing and your 'precious' bigoted CRWBY. You guys unironically act/think that just because you have to deal with queerphobia; you are IMMUNE to being bigoted yourself and you are INCAPABLE of parroting bigoted beliefs. Cus I know there will be a dumbass ant1-rwde posters who will try to drown out this post by saying its 'lies from the EVIL RWDE!!!': You would rather weaponize your queerness to bash on BIPOC voices, while claiming to care about our voices. You would rather be complicit with the racist writers and their racist writing, just because your racist writers gave you a queer ship. There is no shame nor issue in projecting the abused you suffered onto the characters, however you refuse to see through the characters and their writing through a BIPOC lens. You do not get the right to impose your perspective of the characters at the expense of BIPOC voices, you do not get to twist our voices to be alt-right bigots because we called out RWBY's rampant racism. You do not get the right to say you give a shit about BIPOC and have #BLM in your bio when you fervently defend your bigoted company. You do not get to pretend to care about racism when you buy merch off of your bigoted company. My fellow BIPOC (especially the queer BIPOC): why are you guys so comfortable dismissing your fellow poc about their discomfort with RWBY's racist writing? BIPOC are not a monolith with the same opinions about racism in media; but some of you guys are weirdly comfortable with turning a blind eye to your fellow BIPOC getting dogpiled by the white fandom. We can and will disagree, you not agreeing as a BIPOC about RWBY's racist writing is not what I take issue with. The issue lies within you upholding the racial colourblindness in the fandom; like how the fandom was ok with throwing the racism under the bus in favour of queerness, you are ok with throwing your BIPOC peers under the bus for white queerness. Sincerely, a POC who has been watching the fandoms rampant racism problem ever since 2019.
#rwde#bitches be like: 'yeah we know that rwby handled racism bad :)))'#then get fucking furious when you say 'adam taurus being retconned from a minority rights fighter to an abusive ex was kinda bad'#go watch unicornofwar's white fang video and think about it holy shit. listen to the white guy if u dont wanna listen to poc#white fans get furious when you say that rwby has a racism problem TO THIS DAY#you dare mention how the 'villains' are all poc with visible ethnic traits/darker skin tones#while our heroes are white as fucking paper with zero ethnic traits#they would scream to the heavens that ruby and yang are chinese#despite being very much modelled off of white women/afabs#while also be giddy about whitewashing james to fit their evil facist dictator narrative#despite james being modelled off of an ACTUAL asian man unlike ruby and yang#and is one of the few characters who have visible ethnic features unlike ruby and yang#fandom racism goes unchecked over here and i have never felt so unsafe in a fandom#at the end of the day: ig white ppl will always prioritize themselves at the expense of bipoc#'omg we're ur allies#i totally understand how it feels like to be discriminated against 🥺'#<- not even a week later you borderline gaslight a poc rightfully saying its fucking weird to be making animal jokes about blake#at this point? call me a slur#dont pretend you give a shit about me as a poc#dont even fucking bother being my friend as a white queer if ur just gonna spout the same shit i see online#rwby fans you guys are one of the most racist fandoms out there#btw if you guys are gonna come at me with racism and harassment#you will be blocked <3#especially if u are as slavic as the vikings#do not bother lecturing a poc about how ur racist anime isn't that racist

the paradesi synagogue in kochi, kerala, india. the first synagogue on the site, built by the city's longstanding malabari jewish community, was destroyed by portugese who'd colonized the area in their persecution of locals. it was rebuilt in 1568 by spanish and portugese jews who fled persecution and later expulsion, hence the name "paradesi" ("foreign" in malayalam).
these sephardic jews and a community of jews of mixed african and european descent who were formerly enslaved ("meshuchrarim", "freedmen" in hebrew) joined the malabari jewish community of kochi and somewhat integrated. they were later joined by some iraqi, persian, yemenite, afghan, and dutch sephardic jews. the middle eastern and european jews were considered "white jews" and permitted malabari jews and meshuchrarim to worship in the synagogue. however, in what seems like a combination of local caste dynamics and racism, malabari jews were not allowed full membership. meshuchrarim weren't allowed in at all, but were instead made to sit outside during services and not allowed their own place of worship or other communal rights.
as the "white jews" tended to be rather wealthy from trade, this synagogue contains multiple antiquities. they include belgian glass chandeliers on its walls, hand-painted porcelain tiles from china on its floors, and an oriental rug that was gifted by ethiopian emperor haile selassie.

It's just crazy getting bombarded with the fact that lots of people genuinely think systemic racism seems to only exist in an American context. Like every single nation touched by white supremacy, colonialism, and imperialism has it's own systems of opression, racism, and particularly antiblackness. Because you do not want to be conscious of these things does not mean that your particular nation's societies are exempt from its accountability, awareness, and work to do in dismantling these things??????

Twitter sucks bcs I’ll politely tell a white woman not to use an Asian name bcs that’s cultural appropriation and she acts like she got brutally harassed (I apologized to her twice in the conversation where she constantly dismissed me and only mentioned her doing it publicly after she started acting like she was being attacked and framing me as getting offended over nothing). Then someone claims me being whitepassing means I’m not actually Korean and being hypocritical for saying that she shouldn’t use a Japanese name, and a popular white rw/by fic writer blocks me for calling out her friend, but if I say anything about that I’m the bad guy

as an east asian in atla fandom, it is very jarring to see most often self-identified white fans bang on about "racism" in how fandom conceives of, for instance, the appearance of certain characters since they may or may not fit into certain racial stereotypes. i don't often find these critiques credible because the logic is unsound and belies deeper homophobic or racist tropes that the white person in question has not investigated more deeply.
when i think about my (asian-specific) racial concerns about this fandom, it's in things like orientalism or, conversely, a complete unwillingness to engage with the "exotic" logics of east/southeast/south asian cultures. i don't want to call out specific posts but there was one quite recently that gained a lot of traction, in which a number of views were expressed that grossly (and at times offensively) misrepresented a facet of asian cuisine/dining culture, in a way that suggested most of the people who engaged with the post had hardly even tried asian cuisine. i and some other asian fans spoke out against it in the notes, but we were the vast minority.
things like this concern me. i'm one asian here and i really can't speak for every asian's opinion on this. but i am concerned. do white fans engage meaningfully with the cultures/people represented in atla, in the first place? if not, why are they presuming to speak on behalf of fans who are asian? is there a genuine engagement with concerns of racism, or are they crying racism for clout?

Because I’m apparently back on my bullshit I would fucking love it if star wars fans would actually listen to Asian fans when we tell you “no, that’s not what attachment means.”
And for the record, don’t give me some bullshit about how “well George Lucas was white and he was writing for a western audience” with the implication that therefore you don’t have to examine the source of what he appropriated - which is an actual fucking take someone said to my face. If you don’t see how breathtakingly racist that is I don’t know what to tell you. Lucas’s racism does not give you permission to be racist; not to perpetuate the same racism, and not (often, I find) to be actively more racist than Lucas ever was. You want to call yourself an anti-racist ally? Put in the work. You have a responsibility to make space for us and let us reclaim stories that couldn’t exist without us.
If you’re just ignorant, I’m sympathetic - but that sympathy ends when people actively try to educate you and you refuse to listen. I cannot count the amount of times I have had people double down and make fandom spaces actively hostile for me and other Asian fans. (People tried to doxx a friend of mine about this - ironically right as Stop Asian Hate was picking up and the same people claimed to support it with their whole chests.)
Anyways, there isn’t a concrete end to this. This is a rant, more than anything else. I don’t know what else to say other than it’d be nice if people stopped demonizing something that’s part of a real life culture and claiming it: 1) impossible to live by (wrong! Do you know how many Buddhists there are?), and 2) something people actively deserve to be killed for if they believe (because yes, that is what you’re saying when you claim the Jedi “deserved to fall”). What you’re advocating is genocide, and I think it’s plenty fair for the real life people who belong to the real life cultures Lucas used to build the Jedi to get fucking scared when we hear that.

just saw the news that a forest season ticket holder was charged with racially aggravated disorderly conduct and banned after levelling racist abuse at sonny. it’s honestly horrid that this keeps happening season after season and it’s also reported on in such a low profile way in comparison to other such incidents (obviously all incidents like this deserve outrage and proper high profile reporting). sonny’s had to deal with this specific kind of racism being the most visible asian player in football his entire career and i think people underplay not only the effect that must have on his mental health but the fact that stuff like this is institutional and a huge barrier for other asian players to break into the top flight

This is great and I hope they make sure to bring enough ccs that the huge timezone difference wont be that big of a problem. Unless they arent in east asia. Like the few streamers i follow that live in east asia stream at late times in the server and is basically impossible for europeans to watch them. So they need to be many for them to be able to have enough people to interact with

I wish I wasn't shown this because it's even more fucking annoying than her first response
Meeru is absolutely backtracking and no I don't believe she's trying to be self critical for a second.
I quite literally explained to Meeru in my first response to her that Panda's behaviour is genuinely abusive and dangerous (for example, causing someone to relapse in their eating disorder). I even provided Meeru with a WHOLE LIST of the things Panda did which includes blatant racism, suicide baiting, victim blaming, and inappropriate behavior infront of and towards minors.
I then went on a provided Meeru with FOUR screenshots of Panda's behavior, one of the screenshots showing her saying that she wants Manchurians to be genocided. I then pointed out that Meeru's interest in Siberians and Northern Asians is purely orientalist because she has built her blog off of the back of Northern Asian and Siberian cultures, but when being told that her friend Panda is racist against Northern Asians and was even provided a screenshot as evidence for this, she STILL went on to call it "boring cancel culture".
In the first response I also said how MULTIPLE people tried to talk to Panda privately, and she did not listen. Her behaviour is not only dangerous but we have found out that Panda has been trying to control the narrative about what happened to people throughout the fandom and telling them absolute lies about what happened, concealing the extent of her abuse and bad behaviour and outright orchestrating a hate campaign against @/miyuecakes by not only spreading lies about her with 0 evidence throughout the fandom, but by sending her posse to harass her on tumblr.
How did Meeru respond upon being given a list of the things Panda did with four screenshots of ACTUAL evidence?
"Don't blame me for not reading all 80 pages!"
"My family is struggling!"
"I care about Siberians!"
"Why did this come out around Christmas!"
She's now backtracking saying that I can't blame her for not reading all 80 pages when
1) No one fucking forced her to release that post before reading the whole document and it's quite stupid of her to release that post despite apparently not reading it
2) Even if she didn't read the whole document? I provided her with screenshots of Panda's behavior and a list of the things she's done to hurt people.
Despite this, Meeru STILL called it purely cancel culture and dismissed the evidence I gave her!
Stop backtracking!
This post is backtracking central. Oh. So NOW you agree that Panda's behavior was harmful even though I literally told you what she did and gave you evidence in my response to you?
"Why are things being handled in public" bestie I don't think I need to keep explaining to you that multiple people have tried to talk to Panda about her dangerous behavior privately but she didn't listen. She shows 0 desire to change and IMMEDIATELY went to make other friends to lie to about the whole ordeal after she left. This post is a WARNING to people to avoid her.
When I said you were orientalist , I said it was because you were given literal evidence of Panda being racist to Northern Asians , yet you decided to carry on with the narrative that this is cancel culture and that we're overreacting. I didn't say jackshit about Putin girly. If you treat racism against Northern Asians like it's just a newspaper article for you to reblog rather than an actual material reality, and dismiss racism against a Northern Asian just because your friend did it, your so called interest in their cultures means nothing!
Meeru is now blaming ME for why she couldn't read the whole document because she was too busy "defending herself" against my "insults"😂 You lie almost as often Panda does. Again, no one forced you to post that post before finishing the whole document! Don't speak on shit you don't know about !
I have the right to insult someone who stands by an abuser and shits on the victims for speaking out! Thanks !
