thinking about how horribly doomed aventurine is by "luck". he has it but hes going to lose it and although he is lucky enough to have it he is not lucky enough to preserve it. for his luck and his goodness will outweigh everything else out, so the scales of fate tip unfavorably in the eyes of those that he cares about, leaving them doomed while he is eternally preserved
thinking about how ratio isn’t the kind to use nicknames but one day just out of the blue starts calling aventurine “vasha” and aventurine’s brain short circuits because he didn’t expect that from ratio
Sometimes I just love reading about fictional characters from games on places like Quotev and Tumblr, seeing solely through the eyes of fans how they act and what they secretly feel and then playing the actual game and going ‘that’s not how they act at all!’
Because then you notice things other people haven’t told you. Like just how much a character distrusts others and how well they can actually put up a facade. The little things.
And it just gives them more depth, you know? Because then you gain a better understanding. And I just love it when I do that to fictional characters I get attached to when I haven’t even played the game yet. It fleshes them out, in a way. And it just makes me love them more.
Jingliu becoming overprotective and possessive of you because you remind her of Baiheng. She already lost her so now she doesn't want to lose you no matter what. She'll do anything to keep you to herself so she can make sure you're safe.
(tragic yuri I'm sobbing. they're married your honor.)
So I was thinking about the Greek Dr. Ratio agenda and started looking up Greek traditions and stuff, and I stumbled on something. If Amphreous is based on Greece, as the leaks suggest, and Dr. Ratio is from Amphreous, then I wonder if he would wear a Nazar Boncugu on his person.
"To avoid the matiasma, those who believe in it wear a charm, a little blue bead with an eye painted on it. Blue is believed to be the color that wards off the evil eye."
And look who wears a lot of blue!
(I need help.)
Also, Nazar Boncugu is not just a thing in Greek. According to Google, "evil eye beads were popularized with the Indians, Phoenicians, Persians, Arabs, Greeks, Romans, and Ottomans."
Rome is also, according to the leaks, an inspiration for Amphreous.

aventurine has gotten used to rough treatment. it's expected whenever he encountered anyone back in the days. horrible people used him for their own gain and pleasure, paying no care to his needs or to being gentle with him. it was what he was used to. he accepted that his only worth was being used by these awful men and women. a being such as himself did not deserve tender love or care.
ratio treated him differently... he was not accustomed to being put first. it felt strange at first. truthfully, he would have been fine if ratio used him to simply relieve himself... after all, it's what he was used to and it was fine since this time it was with someone he loves. to his surprise, things turned out differently with him.
ratio asked him if he was okay every so often. he took his time learning every inch, curve and part of him. he put aventurine's pleasure above his own. his touch was gentle and comforting. he used his name, kissed him and held him close.
all of this felt foreign to aventurine. he found himself overwhelmed with emotions when it was over. all he wished was this could have been his first experience.
Is it weird that I’ve lost interest in Firefly/Sam?
I was originally on board with the Firefly-being-Sam reveal cause I believed it was a brilliant way of turning the tragic love interest trope on its head.
Like, picture this: the sweet, chronically ill girl Stelle loved and lost comes back and reveals that she’s a merciless killer. Not only that, she’s been in league with the Stellaron Hunters, the rival group to the Astral Express, all along.
But she wasn’t pretending to be a vulnerable person, because that’s who she wants to be. The wonderful dream called Penacony allows her to live out the fantasy of being a normal girl, unburdened by her ailing body or the cold armor - to be free of bloodshed and allow herself to live in the moment, to have fun, and maybe even fall in love.
But dreams are just dreams, reality is cruel. And in reality, Firefly sees nothing but scorched earth and flames. She has never wept for the countless lives she took, and will continue to take countless more if she has too. She’s a bitter killing machine who takes out her anger and frustration on her targets without restraint, hateful to world that made it so she can’t live a normal life outside of her “medical cabin”.
And yet, despite all of that, she still clings on to that single emotional connection she has with Stelle, even if it’s only possible in a dream. She hopes with all of her heart that Stelle will accept her for who she is, bloodstained warts and all.
…
What we get instead is a girl who’s too nice to her allies. A girl who’s too heroic for a killing machine. The other Trailblazers trust and care about her too quickly. Also, it turns out Firefly can walk freely outside of her mech suit (if only for a certain amount of time).
The bloodshed, the lives taken, the worlds left ruined, the missions completed in the wake of flames - all of those things that made Firefly “Sam” and “Sam” Firefly were all too easily swept under the rug.
Conflict is what crafts good stories and characters. And I couldn’t help but feel there was a distinct lack of conflict involving Firefly’s character, especially in regard to her relationship with Stelle. I can’t help but feel robbed of a morally-ambiguous love interest for our main character.
Firefly’s edges were sanded off and we’re left with an easily marketed waifu-bait character for gacha gamers. And I find that to be utterly boring.
…
…
…And because I know some idiot is going to take this post completely out of context, I’m not saying I want Firefly/Sam to be a grimdark edgy character devoid of softness. I’m saying that there should be a tangible conflict involving the kind of person Firefly wants to be (Firefly: kind & vulnerable) vs the person she presents herself as (Sam: merciless & unfeeling).
