Rake Brushes Ed, Because All Things Are Ed
Details and process below the fold 👇
Lessons for future:
leave breaks and low opacity spots in the hair
DON'T MERGE BACKGROUND. OMG. Everything needs to have at least similar marks to feel cohesive. I did good learning about hair though. Hair is hard.
Rake brushes are really hard to corse correct with. The nose just kept getting skinnier and skinnier because the dark always shows through.
Hair technique:
It's always hard for me to make hair detailed without it iether being a scribbly mess or photoshop realistic. This method really helped me keep the hair structured and smooth.
First, I had a block of color and general shading. Then, I added the rake brush marks on top. Each rake brush mark is on a separate layer. This lets me move naturally but also erase.
I used a hard, precise erasser to cut out the overlapping area. A big soft erraser does the finishing blend.
…also label your layers and brushes. Unlike me. I only know what these brushes are because I remember what order I made them in ^_^;
