Ugh yeah been there! And that's one of the things that makes then learning linguistics about your language so satisfying.

You get to tell your friends "it's because of the verb 2 rule" or "it's because the thematic role of the place word is "goal" and not "location" in this sentence.

You get to help them with their writing AND you get to lecture them on linguistics at the same time!

In the magic story maybe it can go like "you, the brilliant instinctive learner, meets the scholar with words for your itches. And then there's LOVE!"

All throughout childhood, while my peers were socializing and making friends, I studied the blade read so many books that I am now almost legally blind, which left me with vast and deeply instinctual understanding of English grammar - and next to no ability to explain how it actually works. Friends will often ask me to proofread their writing and then get very mad when I say things like, "You need to completely reverse this sentence and cut this clause entirely; no, I'm sorry, i don't know why, I just know that the way it is now ITCHES 😭"

Now, what I want to see is a fantasy story where this plays out with MAGICAL grammar. Someone from a backwater town deeply steeped in folk magic arrives at Wizard Uni where all their fellow students are like "What do you mean, we should add another '𝞯∘⋇𝞿' to the incancation because it 'sounds better'? What do you mean, 'it could just be a regional thing'?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN, 'THIS SPELL JUST FEELS LIKE IT NEEDS A LIVE RAT'????"

A Cure for Barbarity

The grand old manor of Northcrest provided more luxurious accommodations than most in the rag-tag group of soldiers in the company of the Rising Dawn were accustomed to - if they ignored the peeling wallpaper, smell of mold and the manor's creeping, foul-tempered owner. Unfortunately, Alex couldn't do the latter. She needed to wrangle their prisoner-turned-annoyance wizard Hyden into doing any work at all, and that meant negotiating with his self-appointed apprentice and biggest fan, their host with the least, Baron Theopolis North. Now she had two egotistical, unstable mages to deal with, which was two more than she ever wanted.

She was common, he was the worst kind of arrogant old-blood nobility, she no-nonsense, he excessively prone to nonsense, she hated Hyden, he adored the man beyond all reason. It was inevitable that tensions between the rat and bat would boil over into conflict. True, Alex was a disciplined soldier who knew how to keep a cool head in times of stress, but the mad mage of Northcrest knew how to get under her skin... in more ways than one.

Diomedes: who has been a solider since he was 5 who has intersting thoughts about his own personhood who has a much more traditional relationship with Athena and would rather literally stab his own eye out with a rusted sword than speak out of turn: I don't know what you're talking about

imo when willow tried to turn amy back from a rat in s6 it shouldn't have worked and willow is just pulling her hair out trying to figure out why but since she and tara are broken up she never finds out that miss kitty fantastico ate amy back in s4 and tara bought a new rat and hoped nobody would notice

Thinking about the fact they had Bobby dressed as a vampire in the Halloween episode - as cap dracula. Literally the undead - and a character associated with blood.

Every single one of the other Halloween costumes has been a play on the characters narrative for the season and so Bobbys must be as well - the play on undead and blood being important - something which Bobby has already been connected to with the magic blood arc back in season 1.
