Good morning. ☕ Last night, I took and passed my Database Management Applications exam, which was the last exam in my degree program. Here's a pic of some of my notes (which I intended to post the other night while I was actually studying).

I have until April 30 to complete my capstone project if I'm going to finish by the end of the term. (I do qualify for a one-month extension, though. I went ahead and requested it just in case I need a few extra days.)

Lots of research and writing will be happening over the next week. 📚

385 days to application season

I am enough socially awkward not to ask the barista where the lids are. And to order the wrong coffee. But hey, I got out of home and got coffee, even if the ice has burnt my lips.

Decided to stick with Abbott for Analysis. Not-so-fun story: I have tried the √2 proof in Baby Rudin, as it is literally the second page of the book, and you know what? I cried for two days and almost gave up math, the only thing that keeps me alive. 

Abbot was painless, and I got it instantly. So yes, the choice is done. I will try the exercises of the first section next week.

I am also trying to get used to work with pdfs. It will take a while, but we will get there. On the left photo is my tablet, Remarkable. The most shameless notebook I own, and I normally use Moleskines or Leuchtturm 1917. “Book of Proof” is used both digitally and analog. It is hell to flip the pages to the answers on the tablet, but on the other hand it builds discipline not to go to the answers the moment I start doubting my own existence.

Today i created a sketch of my character, Korixeon. He is an Ocean Gadinost. His body is made of seaweed and corals, his face is an octopus beak and his eye is a pearl. I hope you enjoy this as much as i do 🥰

I drew it on my boyfriends Remarkable Tablet, its not a drawing tablet, so i apologise for the poor quality :)

a fun thing about my writing tablet is i've been using it without charging for about two weeks now 😎 just plugged it in for its brief hour-long charge back to full battery and it'll be good for another two weeks

Did I mention how much I hate exams and writing tests? Because I do.

Whatever, it's compulsory so sooner or later I will have to get through it, might as well have a go at it sooner

Das teuerste und beste Nichts der Welt

Mehrere Dinge haben sich bewahrheitet: Ich habe mir das Remarkable 2 bestellt, ein dünnes, 700 Euro teures Nichts, das einem Tablet ähnelt, nur ohne die Vorteile eines Tablets.

Es kann praktisch nicht ins Internet gehen, außer zur Synchronisierung, es hat keine Apps und keine Ablenkung. Es ist das vielleicht beste Nichts, was ich je besessen habe. Dies wird ein euphorischer Text, das merke ich jetzt schon. Allein der Umstand, dass ich ihn auf dem Remarkable schreibe.

Ich weiß nicht, ob ich ADHS habe. In meiner Jugend gab es diese Diagnose, aber meine Mutter war strikt gegen Ritalin. Mehr kann ich nicht dazu sagen, außer, dass schon das schnarrende Hupen von Lieferwägen auf der Straße unter mir ausreicht, um mich für 30 Minuten aus der Konzentration zu reißen. Ich habe immer Schwierigkeiten gehabt, Texte am Schreibtisch zu schreiben. Noch schlimmer: Texte, wenn geschrieben, auch noch korrigieren.

Mit dem Remarkable habe ich einen 10.000 Zeichen Text für Die Zeit an einem Vormittag geschrieben. Ich saß im Bett, das Papiertablet in der Hand, und war wie im Rausch. Ich tippe das mit der Tastatur aufgestellt, ähnlich wie bei einem Surface, die Handschreibe-Erkennungsfunktion benutze ich – wider Erwarten – fast überhaupt nicht. Als Notizbuch ist es umständlich, und für den Gebrauch am Sandkasten auf der Parkbank eigentlich auch zu teuer.

Aber zurück zu dem Text: Anschließend habe ich ihn, weil das Display die Augen viel weniger müde macht, auch noch korrigiert! Mit der Hand – mit dem Stift! Mit Korrekturzeichen, weil ich so unter dem Eindruck stand, dass alles mit diesem Remarkable Spaß machen würde. 

Für professionelle Schreiber_innen mit ADHS-Verdacht ist es ein Game-Changer. Meinen Laptop habe ich in den zweieinhalb Wochen seit seiner Ankunft fast überhaupt nicht mehr benutzt. Nur für E-Mails. Die kann das Remarkable nicht. Aber das macht nichts. In diesem Fall ist weniger wesentlich mehr.

similar to the greentext stuff - i was visiting with my neighbors and their grandkids were around, and I said to this eight year old, "Hey, you wanna know something cool? I was playing the game when the Endermen came out." and his eyes went wide, like this kid looked like i told him i landed on the moon. His grandma thought it was really funny, and she said she has no idea what i'm talking about, but her grandbabies do, and that's incredible to her.

oh that's fun lmao, when minecraft & that update's existed for more than your whole life, and yknow being that young and like Next Year fr is this huge time scale away, a couple of years is a quarter of your life thus far and like maybe nigh half of the part of your life you actually have longterm memories for....i was checking out this dev's blog's archives about a:tdd's release in 2010 & in one entry they compared the implicitly Roughly concurrent release of Minecraft and i was like hey whoah. forever primarily being a game i've Heard Of more than any more direct exposure so i had no precise sense of [before minecraft release] [after minecraft release] Year 0 there but it's like for sure back in thee day when minecraft was a new thing, huh
