10. a book that got you through something

oh, that's a weirdly tough one? whenever i'm Going Through Some Shit, i tend to read a LOT, very quickly (apparently i'm mostly here for the escapism and the dissociation). the last series i latched onto during a Tough Time­™ was THE MURDERBOT DIARIES by Martha Wells, which is now an all-time regular-reread fave for me. it's so funny, it's got so many feelings, AND it's perfectly balanced with the right amount of action, and i love all the characters so so much. it's intensely comforting to me and hits all my buttons perfectly!

50. a book that made you cry a LOT

besides murderbot? the last thing that had me crying in multiple places of the story was MAMMOTHS AT THE GATES by Nghi Vo, which is like. rude. considering it's a little novella lol. but it's hugely cathartic and deeply touching, and i really enjoyed it (and the rest of the Singing Hills Cycle that i've read so far!).

86. a book with an insane plot twist

two are really sticking out at me right now: HARROW THE NINTH by Tamsyn Muir (because i remember That Damn Line, and it's SO good) and LEECH by Hiron Ennes, because i love LEECH with My Entire Chest, and the POV situation is masterful. both are deeply fucked up books (and HARROW is a sequel), and they deal with a lot of heavy shit, but they're both absolutely fascinating stylistically and structurally, the those are my favorite kinds of plot twists (the ones that are hiding inside the medium/structure).

DEMONKIN TIPS

Here’s a few things to connect to your demonkin identity. We all feel euphoric in different ways so just play around and see what you’re more connected to!

- Dress up to feel more accurately portrayed! Wings? Horns? Fangs? Victorian clothing? Dark colors? Maybe pastels? Wear em!

- Light a candle for yourself, you deserve it 🫶🏾

- Read and research demonology, of course

- Research different infernal hierarchies! A few are The Magus (William Fletcher Barrett), Grimoire of Pope Honorius, Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, Goetia Hierarchy and The Dukanté Hierarchy!

- Music and playlists are always a winner

- Paint your nails black or red… maybe even sharpen them

- Burn dragon’s blood or sandalwood incense for yourself!

- Read infernal mythology + stories as well as learning about the infernal divine and it’s hierarchies

- If you have a past life then explore those, look at your name, age, type of demon, direction, month, colors, perhaps create a sigil if you’re feeling fancy

- Meditate, seriously. It really helps if you’re able to visualize and just breathe

- If you’re a vocal demon (as in you growl, hiss, or… sing!) record song covers and experiment with your voice

- Connect with your sintype if you have one or aspect of hell (abyssal, water, one of the infernal circles, etc)

- Create an enn for yourself <3

- Explore your definition of The Adversary!

- Look into oddities and specimens - vulture culture

- Create art, poetry and/or writings about your demonkin identity

- Make a Pinterest board dedicated to what your “demonkin-sona/form” looks like + where you reside in Hell/Hell equivalent

Also named Cerberus, Naberius is a fallen angel and the 24th of 72 spirits of solomon. He appears as a crow, a black crane, or a three headed dog much like his greek counterpart. Naberius is described as having a hoarse voice. He teaches about arts and sciences, skills like rhetoric, and helps to restore honor and dignity. Marquis Naberius was first mentioned by Johann Weyer in 1583. In that text, he presents himself as eloquent and amiable. It is unclear if he has a direct association with the greek Cerberus, however, Weyer considered them the same demon.

okay the cheater answer here is ALL SYSTEMS RED, because the cover looks like very Not My Thing, but holy shit it’s one of my all time faves, and tbh i don’t think the cover does the first one justice. (this is the cheating answer because bot is only on my list from this year because i did a Reread)

the non-cheater answer is A SWIM IN A POND IN THE RAIN: IN WHICH FOUR RUSSIANS GIVE A MASTER CLASS ON WRITING, READING, AND LIFE by George Saunders, because i didn’t love it (or the writer lol) at the start but he definitely grew on me by the end! i read it with a buddy as a writer craft thing, which was more fun than i thought it would be.

About my writing (under the cut)

-Mostly fanfiction. Sometimes original works, although most of those are, ahem, on hold. Sometimes poems for fun.

-Main original project is a steampunk airship thingy-wingy which is in it’s planning phase (more about it below).

-Fandoms I write for include: Ace Attorney, Moriarty the Patriot, Attack on Titan, Nimona, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Helluva Boss, Hazbin Hotel

1. Lost opportunities

Ace Attorney Wrightworth fanfic. Takes place during the trilogy and follows Edgeworth’s POV as he tries to make peace with the fact that he has Hanahaki disease because of a ~certain defence attorney~. His platonic relationships are a big part of this, too.

On my Ao3 2. Era of Grey Skies

Original work, created with my little sister. It doesn't have a plot yet... but if I had to summarise it in some way, I'd say it's a steampunk-airship-pirate-adventure with many characters.
