home is where the chaos is (loki laufeyson x gotg!reader) - part one
Summary: Loki is after an artefact, but it seems he isn’t the only one. Enter the Guardians of the Galaxy… There was something… chaotically charming about them. (GOTG/LOKI AU, Set after ‘Thor Ragnarok’ where Loki decided to explore the galaxy instead of returning to the statesman. Tweaking of the timeline where Thanos is still busy doing Mad Titan shit in prep for his plan lmao).
A/N: Yes, I am a GOTG!Loki truther. GN READER! I did have to kind give the reader a personality to fit because… well, they’re a guardian lol.
Rating: All ages/SFW
LOKI MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
“Uh- I do believe that belongs to me…”
“Really? I am… so sorry!”
“Yes-“
“Wow, I can’t believe I made that mistake-“
“It’s… quite alright… If you could just…”
“Although… Looking at it now… I can’t seem to see your name on it…”
“You can’t be serious-“
“I always put my name on things. Otherwise you never know who may… come along and pick it up…”
Loki’s lips parted, a flicker of annoyance and, maybe even, the faintest glimmer of amusement passing through his features. Apparently the artefact Loki had been planning to steal was rather… sought after. Loki let out a heavy breath before fixing his lips into a smile, one that was charming with an edge of warning.
“I’m a God.” Loki replied smoothing, his usual arrogance in his tone. “I don’t need to put my name on things-“
“Do you have any identification?”
“What?”
“Well, you could just be saying that to get what you want.”
Loki once again blinked, completely taken back by your words. You were… peculiar to say the least. He pursed his lips with a faint clicking of his tongue, raising his chin as his hands moved to his hips.
“No, I do not have any identifi-“
“Oh, well, then I guess… This is mine.”
You flashed him a quick smile, having thoroughly confused the God of Mischief, before moving to pass him. Loki stood for a moment, brows raised in surprise at your… attitude. He had come for the artefact, and he would damn well be leaving with it.
“Got it.”
He heard you speak, turning on his heel to see you speaking into some sort of communication device strapped on your wrist as you walked nonchalantly away. His hands fell from his hips, straightening his posture, preparing to swipe the artefact.
“Excuse me-“ Loki began lowly, trying to keep his voice light and non combative, although his frustration was evident on his face. Of course, he could simply just… incapacitate you and take it, but words were always his first choice. Besides… he was rather… curious about such brazenness. He watched as you paused your steps, turning with a raised brow to look at him. “I’m sorry-“ He gave a brief, breathy laugh - one of disbelief. “I think there may have been a misunderstanding-“
“Really? Because…” You furrow your brows. “I thought I understood very clear…” You feigned confusion. “You claimed this artefact was yours, I looked to see if your name was on it, and there is no name on it at all…” You continued, tilting your head. “And then you claimed you were a God but could not provide any identification, so I have instantly categorised you in my head… as a liar.”
Loki kept a tight smile on his lips the whole time, looking at you with a faintly tilted head, staying silent for a moment as if he was trying to fill the silence with tension. But you seemed… unfazed. Completely and utterly unfazed. He narrowed his eyes ever so slightly, trying to convey the threat he posed, smile tightening.
“Are you okay?” You eyed him, a flicker of confusion on your face. “You look like you’re in pain… or ate a bad Orloni-“
“What?” Loki furrowed his brows. “No- I- I’m fine-“
“Are you sure? I might have some indigestion remedy in my-“
“Just-“ Loki took a sharp breath. “GIVE ME THE ARTEFACT!” He exclaimed, his restraint reaching its limit.
“No!” You held the artefact closer to your chest, pouting faintly.
“Give it to me-“ Loki repeated, voice low, a warning. You shook your head, stepping back as Loki tried to swipe it from you, his fingers swiping through the air. “You are… infuriating!”
“Thank you.”
“It wasn’t a compliment!”
“Hey, idiot- what’s taking you so long?”
Rocket’s voice came through your communication device, Loki’s eyes flickering to your wrist. So, you weren’t acting alone, just as he had suspected after hearing you talk to whoever was on the other end earlier. You both stood silently, you watching Loki closely.
“Are you going to get that?”
You pursed your lips, slowly raising your wrist, eyes fixed on Loki. Just as you did so, Loki called upon his magic, his figure shimmering green as he disappeared in front of your eyes. Your brows raised in surprise, grip faltering on the artefact, just as you heard a shimmer sound behind you, feeling a hand yank the artefact from your hold.
“Hey!” You whirled round, seeing Loki smirking. “Give that back!”
“Oh, I’m sorry…” Loki furrowed his brows, feigning regret. “Is this yours?” He tilted his head, lifting the artefact in his hand, taunting almost. “It’s just… I don’t see your name on it.” His eyes sparkled with amusement, throwing your own words back at you. You narrowed your eyes, a heavy breath escaping through your nose.
“Real mature.” You quipped, Loki giving a small shrug.
“Well, it was… a pleasure.” He said lightly, eyeing you. “But, I have what I came for now, so I shall leave you to… whatever it is you do.” Loki gave a small nod and brief wink, one of sarcasm - somehow that was even possible - beginning to walk away. You stood for a moment, the roles now reversed, with your lips parted and brows creased. Just as you were about to follow, to get the artefact back, the God stopped in his tracks. “Although…” Loki paused, slowly turning to face you once more. “Perhaps we could… come to some sort of arrangement…”
“Like what?” You asked, exasperated, folding your arms over your chest. Loki feigned deep thought, humming lowly.
“Hmm… Well, it is clear to me that you are not working alone…” Loki began, slowly beginning to circle you as he spoke. “I suspect a group of you, maybe four to five… Perhaps more.” He continued, shrugging faintly. “Which leads me to believe that this is an organised heist… Not for fun but for… profit?” He held your gaze, brow raised in question. You remained silent, expression neutral. “You and your little friends were hired to acquire this-“ He gestured to the artefact in his hand. “In exchange for payment.”
“Can you just get to the point? I don’t need you to explain my own job to me.” You huffed wryly, sighing.
“Very well.” Loki nodded, lips quirking upwards briefly. “I suggest a bargain.” He stopped walking, coming to a stop before you. “In exchange for the artefact, I too get a cut of the earnings.”
“For what?” You scoffed, unfolding your arms.
“My co-operation.” He grinned, toothy and charming.
“Hm, maybe you are a God.” You mumbled. “Expecting to reap the rewards for very little work.” Loki couldn’t help but let out a small huff of amusement at that.
“I can ensure you leave this place without detection.” He told you confidently, raising his free hand, a green glow emanating from his fingertips as he waved his hand, casting an illusion of the artefact sat perfectly in the spot it should’ve been within the collection. You raised your brows, eyes flickering over the rather real looking and accurate illusion, a hint of appreciation in your gaze. “I can keep the illusion alive whilst we make our haste escape.”
“Perhaps you aren’t so useless after all…” You mumble, pursing your lips, still skeptical of the man before you. He was a stranger after all. Loki smirked, amused.
“It appears not.” He said lowly, tilting his chin down faintly, his piercing stare still holding yours. A slow smile tugged at his lips, a toothy grin appearing, clearly confident in his abilities and the fact you would agree. “So, what say you?”
THWACKKK!
Tumblr media
“A simple ‘no’ would’ve sufficed.”
You both stood outside the ship, waiting for the others to return as Loki shifted on his feet, arms behind his back, chains around his middle. You held the artefact safely in your hand, a pleased smirk on your lips as you leaned against the side of the ship, making a show of your freedom of movement whilst Loki remained bound. Loki glared at you, although, there was a lingering flicker of amusement in his eyes. He had to admit… you were intriguing - as well as an annoyance. Really, he could use his magic to get out of his chains but… where would the fun in that be?
“Dude?!” Your eyes snapped forward, seeing the others making their way towards you. Peter’s expression was one of irritation and confusion as he took in the sight of the stranger, chained and stood outside his ship. “Who the hell is this?!” You opened your mouth to say something when Nebula chimed in.
“Put him back where you found him.” She eyed Loki, the God blinking at the way she spoke of him like some… stray dog.
“We told you to get the artefact, not pick up strays!” Rocket added, folding his arms over his chest. Loki blinked once again at the talking raccoon before noticing the rather muscular blue man, a… bug lady… and a… tree?
“Your team look…” Loki began lowly, an uncertain tone to his voice. “Reliable…” He said with a hint of sarcasm underlying his words.
“Thank you.” Drax nodded, accepting the praise.
“He was being sarcastic, you idiot.” Rocket informed him, shaking his furry head.
“We are the goddamn Guardians of the Galaxy-“ Peter stepped forwards, chest puffed out, hands on hips, his voice lower - heroic. You rolled your eyes, sighing quietly before pinching the bridge of your nose. “Have some respect.” The last words were spoken with a hint of plea, Loki raising his brows as he slowly turned his gaze to you.
“I don’t believe I’ve heard of you.” Loki said smoothly, shrugging, eyes flickering over you all.
“Seriously?!” Peter gawped, his hands falling from his hips in a defeated manner. “We’ve saved the Galaxy like… twice now, man!” Loki once again shrugged, the Captain letting out a frustrated huff as he made for the ship entrance.
“Thank you for your service?” Loki said in a questioning tone, brows furrowing as he watched the man walk up the ramp past him.
“You can’t keep him.” Rocket quipped, following after Peter, looking up between you and Loki. “Like Nebula said, put him back where you found him.”
“Excuse me, but I am not a stray dog that you can just-“ Loki began, huffing, but Rocket simply walked past him, making the God’s words die on his tongue. This group was… rude. Obnoxious. Ragtag. And they saved the galaxy? His eyes followed Drax, Mantis and Groot as they also boarded, Nebula following behind. The blue woman locked eyes with Loki, almost a flicker of recognition going through her for a moment. Loki’s brows twitched, lips pursing. Nebula glared before disappearing into the ship, leaving you and him alone.
“Well, it was a… pleasure.” You pushed off the side of the ship, smirking as you repeated his own words back to him - just as he had done to you. “But I have what I came for, so I’ll leave you to whatever it is you do.” You began to head towards the ramp, the God still chained. His lips parted in indignation, turning on his heel to look up at you.
“That’s it?!” He asked in disbelief. “You’re going to… fly away with your- quite frankly, odd little group and just… leave me here? Chained? Alone?” He raised a brow, your steps pausing, turning to look down at him with a feigned look of deep thought. After a moment of silence, you spoke again.
“Yup.” You nodded.
“That’s very rude.”
“Is it?”
“Yes.”
“According to who?”
“Most people.”
“Ah. Well, we’re not most people.”
“Neither am I.”
You both stared at each other for a second before you narrowed your eyes, moving your free hand to your hip.
“Forgive me, but you seem to be lacking… some magic amongst your ranks.” Loki continued, voice turning coaxing, persuasive, taking a small feet forwards, one boot on the ramp. “I can do far more than simple illusions.” To prove his point, a shimmer of green came from his hands behind his back, the chains around him falling to the ground.
“You could do that the whole time?” You asked, raising a brow.
“Of course.” Loki smirked, raising his chin.
“Then… why did you let me punch you and chain you up? And why remain in the chains?” You gave him a confused look. Loki thought for a moment, before daring to take another small step closer, both boots now on the ramp.
“I was curious to see where this whole… spectacle was going.” He shrugged, his own hands moving to his hips.
“Let’s go!” You heard Peter shout from inside, making you sigh.
“Wait- wait-“ Loki held up a hand to stop you from moving. “Look- I’ve found myself in… a bit of a… sabbatical, shall we say…” He began diplomatically. “And whilst I have enjoyed causing mischief throughout the galaxy, I find myself lacking a bit of… company.” He almost mumbled the last word, eyes dropping to his boots briefly, hiding the flicker of vulnerability. “It’s not every day I offer my… services.” He added, making this seem like he was doing them a favour.
You pursed your lips, letting out a quiet breath through your nose, eyeing the God skeptically. You had to admit… Having someone who possessed a flair of magic and diplomacy… Could be useful on the team. But… It wasn’t your call to make. You let your hand fall from your hip as you reached into your holster, grabbing a small device as you threw it towards him. Loki caught it with ease, a furrow in his brow as he glanced down at the device in his hand.
“We’ll call you.”

Hear me out.
What if instead of pink toad being code word for unbridge it was pepto-bismal?
Scene set during the teachers lounge.
McGonagall: Filius i have been hearing the most odd expression lately.
Filius: oh? Which one? I have heard at least 5 new ones this week alone.
McGonagall: five?! My word, the new generation sure does revitalize the slang from my own days.
Y/N *walks in with severus behind her*: what slang Min?
Severus: yes, Minerva.... due enlighten us how the English language is being even more butchered.
McGonagall: peto-bisalert.
*Y/N spits out the coffee they just took a sip, laughing while Severus chokes on his*
Y/N *cackling*: it's pepto-bismal alert!!! HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! *they pat Severus on the back to help him cough up the drink he took*
Filius: what does that mean?! And why is it so funny?
Y/N: its a muggle over the counter remedy for digestive problems. It also happens to be a very specific shade of pink. You ok, Severus?
Severus *very raspy and hoarse*: Fine.
*y/n rummages through the bag they always carry just as Umridge passes through the lounge in a false pretense of forgetting somthing......yea right.*
Y/n *pulling out the bottle after 5 min Umbridge leaves*: this y'all is pepto dismal. A *VERY* specific shade of pink.
Minerva:..........
Filius............
Severus *starts humming the tune to it*
Y/n: if you've got nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, and diarrhea....
Y/N and Severus locking gazes and break into a laughing fit.
*the rest of term was spent with the professors adding pepto bismol to their repertoire. Filius even hummed the jingle. The students getting a rise out of it. But detentions dropped by half and Umbridge couldn't explain why*

Being Atsumu’s Pregnant Partner:
YN goes into Labor
Tumblr media
Atsumu Miya x Pregnant! GN reader
Warnings: swearing, pregnancy and a lot of stuff to do with pregnancy, mentions of throwing up and bodily fluids
***pregnancy is different for everyone and I’m basing this off my own personal experience
AN: *sigh* friends I’m having major baby fever and since I’m forever done diy-ing my own, I shall instead write about it 😌 maybe I should just get a kitten
Looking back now, it probably wasn’t the best idea to go to a professional, five set volleyball match at 39 weeks pregnant but here you were. You’d always been the devoted type, doing anything and everything you could to support your man no matter what.
Atsumu Miya wasn’t always the easiest partner to have but you loved the big dummy. He was extremely dedicated to his sport and team, which made dealing with him outside the court rather bothersome at times.
Nevertheless, you decided that you could stand just enough of him to spend your life by his side and raise a family. His brother, Osamu, asked you about a million times is you were for sure ready to raise a baby Miya. He knew exactly what it would be like because he was one.
At first you laughed it off, thinking that you had a few years of rest before the chaos would ensure but man, were you wrong. You’d become pregnant relatively quickly, making both you and Atsumu extremely excited.
However, your excitement soon dampened as you began spending most of your day hugging the porcelain thrown or downing antacids to help with the wicked indigestion that crept up your throat at every turn. Your breasts ached, your sleep suffered and the smell of nearly anything sent you running to the bathroom. Your skin broke out, hair began to shed, and most days, you felt like a Sméagol from lord of the rings, just trying to protect your unborn baby.
Atsumu had been as supportive as you imagined he’d be. This mostly meant calling Osamu to make you something to eat or google home remedies to help with your morning sickness. Osamu was also extremely excited for his little niece or nephew to make their appearance, doing whatever he could when Atsumu was gone to help you.
You’d managed to make it all the way to 39 weeks, and you were excited to finally be done. The doctor had scheduled an induction for the following week because of blood pressure issues. You weren’t exactly stoked about the idea of an induction but the fact that you’d be able to meet your baby soon was thrilling.
You waddled your way through the crowd, waving to people as you passed. Akaashi had stopped to talk with you as well as Asahi and Suga. It was nice to see everyone again even though you were exhausted.
“There they are!” Osamu yelled, waving you over to his Onigiri stand as you huffed and puffed, finally able to stop. The pressure from the baby was making it difficult to walk, your pelvis hurting as you leaned on the corner of his stand, his chuckle causing you to glare at him.
“You know you could have stayed him YN. Sumu pays for the expensive sports channels because he’s obsessed with watching replays of his games, I’m sure you’d see him on there,” Osamu joked as you motioned for a delicious looking Onigiri in the corner of the display case.
“This will probably be the last game Sumu plays in for a bit because of his paternity leave. I don’t want to miss it!”
Osamu chuckled, shaking his head as you made your way to the stairs of the bleachers. Your phone rang as you began to ascend, huffing and puffing as you walked up.
“Hello,” you answered as the noise of the locker room filled your ears.
“Hey baby! Did ya make it?” Atsumu shouted back as you finally found your spot and took a seat releasing a heavy sigh as you settled in.
“Not up as high as I normally go but my feet hurt too much to even care.”
Sumu laughed as you looked around to see the stands filled with people.
“Well just relax baby, this time next week will be in the hospital having our baby!”
You groaned just thinking about the idea of pushing out this child, knowing that the possibility of having a small baby was out of the picture.
“Yeah yeah, just make sure you win today, ok? I don’t want yo moping around the house for the next week!”
Atsumu laughed loudly as you smiled. He agreed and hung up the phone, knowing you’d be there to support him no matter what happened.
The teams took their places, and the match began without a hitch. You knew it’d be a long one by the sheer energy happening around you. Two sets had already taken place and the teams were tied. You watched as Sumu slammed a service ace right into the opposing team's court. Your man was on fire today, probably excited about everything happening around him.
The pressure of the baby on your bladder, pushed as you tried to adjust, not wanting to walk out right in the middle of Sumu’s serves. Of course, you knew his serves could go on for a while, so you finally caved, as you thought about the nearest bathroom.
Standing up, you felt a twinge hit. Your back began to radiate pain as it moved to the front of your belly. You gritted your teeth, gripping the side of the chair as you grabbed your stomach.
“Are you ok?” Someone asked as you turned to them confused and nodded. There was no way this was anything more than Braxton hick's contractions, right?
The pain subsided as you assured the person you were ok and made your way to the bathroom. In the bathroom, you noticed you had started losing the mucus plug your doctor had talked about. You knew this meant nothing and weren’t concerned as you continued to feel the baby kick in your stomach.
Washing your hands, you felt the pain against radiate from your back to your front. You had no idea how far apart these pains were as you quickly grabbed your phone and waited for the pain to subside.
Hitting the timer, you exited the bathroom and made your way back to your seat. You felt another pain hit as you quickly checked the timer.
7 minutes.
Standing on the side, you waited for the pain to pass again before ascending the stairs. At this point, you were clearly in denial that anything was happening. Surely these were only practice contractions. Your body had done them before but then again, they’d never felt quite like this.
You restarted the time as you finally sat down, trying to remain calm as you focused back on the game. A few minutes passed again before the pain started, only this time, you felt a pop, followed by a trickle of water fill your pants. You began to stand up as the pain emanated through your stomach.
“Hey Yn- YN HOLY CRAP!” You heard someone yell as Osamu came running over you to, abandoning the Onigiri in his hands to grab onto your arm and steady you.
“Samu the baby, I think the babies coming!” You whined as Osamu’s eyes widened at you, the crowd cheering as MSBY scored yet another point.
At this point, you had tears in your eyes, the pressure from the baby pushing more fluid from your body as the pain continued to radiate. You leaned hard on Samu, groaning as you tried to make it through the pain.
Osamu looked around for anyone he knew, anyone who could possibly help him get you downstairs and to the hospital. As if on cue, he looked down to see Sakusa’s eyes locked with his. He knew his best bet at this point was to try and signal to Sumu that you were in labor.
“YN’s in labor!” He mouthed as Sakusa’s eyes widened and he turned to Sumu who was in the back row. Sakusa wasn’t sure what to do as Sumu was preparing to serve yet again. He wasn’t a person to normally shout but then again, it wasn’t everyday his teammates partner was in active labor at a game.
He looked over to the coach who was now concerned about what was going on with him and why he continued to trail his eyes into the crowd. At this point, Hinata had begun to notice as well, his eyes following Sakusa’s as he saw you, bent over and holding your stomach as Osamu supported you.
“Holy crap YN’s in labor!” He shouted just as Sumu threw the ball up the serve. His eyes widened as his palm made contact with the ball.
“WHAT!?!” He bellowed, sending the ball slamming hard into the other side of the court as the whistle blew signaling the end of the set.
Atsumu quickly looked up to see Osamu helping you down the stairs as you breathed, your face contorted in pain.
“Shit Yn!” He shouted, quickly taking off into the crowd to get to you. He ran as fast as he could, dodging people left and right until he finally met you at the base of the stands.
“YN’s definitely in labor Sumu, their water broke and everything. Contractions are 7 minutes apart right now, but they are in a ton of pain,” Osamu recited as you moaned through another painful contraction, Atsumu grabbing onto your belly and helping lift it to relieve some pressure.
He hadn’t been super eager to take the birthing class suggested by your doctor, but he had to admit, the techniques were coming in handy.
“Sumu the game!” You whined as the contraction ended. Sumu shook his head vigorously before he was interrupted.
“Don’t worry about the game Yn, we will put in our sub and thanks to Sumu’s service ace, we are ahead a set,” Coach answered, coming up with Meian and Sakusa
“Just worry about having that baby Yn!” Meian chuckled as you smiled.
“Please take YN to the hospital now, do you know how unsanitary birthing a baby here would be?” Sakusa demanded as Atsumu blindly nodded and took control of you, Osamu running ahead to grab his car to help.
At the hospital, the doctor checked you before the anesthesiologist made their way to you, providing you with a moment to breathe. Osamu was waiting outside, not wanting to miss the birth of his brothers baby.
“Don’t you wanna watch the game Sumu?” You asked as your partner came beside you and grabbed your hand.
“Nah, Hinata texted me and told me we won. I’ll just watch it when we get home from the hospital. Plus, I want our baby to see how awesome I look on TV!”
You giggled, laying your head back as you rested your body. Atsumu right by your side as you entered this new stage of life together.

Natural Remedies for Common Ailments 🍃
*Natural remedies can be a great option for managing common ailments, but it's important to remember that they may not always be a substitute for professional medical advice and treatment. If you have a serious or persistent health issue, it's important to consult with a doctor. Also, remember that what works for one person may not work for another. The magick of teas
Disclaimer: I only slept about three hours when writing this so if you can make sense of my typos or random use of the wrong word, I appreciate it.
Every so often I see joke posts about making soup or tea as a magical potion but... that is a potion. Chicken Soup is one of the oldest, most culturally accepted, mild healing potions.
It's a rebellion against traditionally feminine roles that has lead to a decline in "Kitchen witchcraft" but soups and teas, in particular, have been potions for centuries. And a lot of it has been accepted as medicinal science. Herbal remedies are how we discovered aspirin from willow bark, for example.
So with some folk superstition / magick mingled with herbalism and actual medical knowledge I present to you a short list of teas and their magical purposes.
First a bit of folk magick for all teas. Stir clockwise AKA Sunwise (Deosil) to induce a spell and to infuse and intention into your tea. Stir counter-clockwise to end or undo something, such as a perceived hex. Put your intention or desire into the stirring.
Adding honey to the tea helps with mild coughs and sore throats. And yes, you can add sugar and / or cream or milk to any tea. It won't compromise the magick. Raw honey is especially good in medicinal teas because raw honey is a natural, mild antibiotic.
All teas help with hydration so that won't be mentioned here in the list of medicinal and magical properties.
Disclaimer: This is NOT a substitution for medications. Always consult your own physician whenever possible for medical concerns.
Home remedy and magical uses for tea:
Hibiscus tea = Good for helping to regulate blood pressure.
_______________________
White tea - Relieves upper raspatory infections / head colds and may help to prevent colds. High in antioxidants.
_____________________________
Green tea - Also helps with head colds. Ginseng has many medicinal properties so yes, even Arizona's iced green tea with honey and ginseng is a remedy. I tend to crave it when I'm feeling under-the-weather. Green tea is high in antioxidants though white tea might have more antioxidants, which is why I listed that one first.
_______________________
Peppermint - Aids with indigestion or upset stomach. Also freshens breath. Can aid with heartburn. When mixed with sugar and light cream or half-and-half (half-cream / half-milk) or with just milk, it becomes a desert beverage that might help induce a seasonal Yule-like sensation. If treating a stomach ailment, it might be best to leave out any cream or milk. Sugar is perfectly fine and will not interfere with its medicinal properties.
__________________________
Spearmint - Calms some mild stomach ailments. Freshens breath.
_________________________
Catnip in tea - Relieves stomach pain in humans (Part of the mint family).
_________________________
Valarian root - Natural sedative. Valarian root will aid in sleep. (This works so long as you are not ADHD. Usually works for neurotypical people, sometimes works if you're not. You may want to test it on yourself first. Some neurodivergent people have had adverse reactions).
____________________________
Vervain AKA Verbena in tea or as its own tea - When consumed this tea induces a temporary protection against vampiric powers such as hypnosis. (No, this is not just in vampire diaries. I used to think it was just a vampire diaries thing too.)
_______________________
Hibiscus, rosehips, and cinnamon - Nostalgia tea. This tea can help calm you and invoke fond memories of the winter season, particularly of Yule / Christmas. It can induce a comforting, warm feeling.
________________________________
Herbal tea mixture: Chamomile, tilia flowers, valerian root. spearmint, lemongrass, and hawthorn. = Sleep aid tea. Relaxes and helps bring on sleep. (This works so long as you are not ADHD. Usually works for neurotypical people, sometimes works if you're not. You may want to test it for yourself first. Some neurodivergent people have had adverse reactions). A name brand version is, of course, Celestial Seasonings' Sleepy Time Tea and Sleepy Time Extra Tea. (stronger variation.)
________________________________
English breakfast tea, Irish Breakfast tea, and Scottish breakfast tea. = Stimulant. This will wake you up more quickly and more potently than ordinary black tea. They are listed here in order of weakest to strongest. Scottish breakfast tea, when brewed just right, is stronger than coffee.
______________________________
Lemon tea = Aids in sore throat and helps with singing / vocal range. Also usually contains vitamin C so it can help with sinus infections, upper raspatory infections / head colds and preventing them. This works best without cream or milk.
___________________________
Ginger tea = Helps with upset stomach. Similar to how ginger ale (with real ginger) helps. When sweetened this will usually taste like flat ginger ale. This works best without cream or milk. Honey or sugar are optional. With the right amount of sugar it will have a similar taste to flat ginger ale.
____________________________
Chamomile tea = This one will aid with mild fever, inflammation, and menstrual cramps. It also can help to relax and calm you.
_____________________________________
Rose tea (Particularly wild rose) = Will ward off demons and vampires.
_______________________
Herbal blend: Rose (Particularly wild rose), Hawthorne, and verbena (AKA Vervain) (garlic optional though I don't recommend it as it ruins the flavor) = vampire warding tea. Will also work on some demons.
___________________
Chai = Dispels negativity and can invoke luck with its cinnamon content.
_________________________
Black tea = Has mild medicinal properties. Many find it comforting and familiar. It can invoke a sensation of the autumn and when consumed near the end of summer it may help seem to speed along the arrival of autumn and cooler weather.
___________________________
Pumpkin spice tea - This is black tea mixed with the traditional "Pumpkin spice" spice mixture and usually also with dried pumpkin added. This tea works as a protection against evil, wandering ghosts, bad luck, demons, and some black magick.
The spices in the Pumpkin Spice mixture such s cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, etc are all spices used in protection and luck charms. Even the the dried pumpkin is a protection ward against evil since Irish immigrants to North America started using pumpkin in the carving of Jack-o-lantern protection wards (as opposed to the more traditional turnip Jack-o-lanterns used in Ireland). It was believed that the pumpkin versions worked just as well if not better than the traditional turnip versions.
Name brand variations of Pumpkin Spice tea include Celestial Seasonings' Sweet Harvest Pumpkin and Bigelow's Pumpkin Spice tea. (Personally I prefer the Bigelow version because the Celestial Seasonings version has Roasted Chicory and I'm not a fan of the taste of that. But the Bigelow version also contains licorice root, which is often considered a tea filler / sweetener, and I know some people don't like that one. So check the ingredients or mix and match to make your own.)
_______________________
Warm sweet apple cider (Cloudy apple juice, also available as Motts' "Natural" version of their apple juice. NOT hard cider. This is the alcohol-free kind) can help to invoke a sensation of the autumn and invoke autumn weather. And when mixed with a little cinnamon or cinnamon and nutmeg or pumpkin spice-like seasoning configurations, can ward against evil and bad luck. This can also be served chilled but warmed brings out the fragrance and helps with any attempt at autumn weather spells.
______________
Another natural sleep aid beverage is milk served slightly warm (Body temperature) or even at room temperature, mixed with a drop of vanilla extract (or to your liking), and raw honey. (If you don't have raw honey, regular is fine.) This sweet mixture will taste like melted vanilla ice cream when blended correctly and can aid against insomnia.
________________________________
A warning, J. K. Rowling discusses a wolfsbane tea in Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban. Do not attempt to make ANY tea containing wolfsbane, in case this wasn't common sense. Wolfsbane, AKA aconite, AKA Monkshood, is a highly deadly neurotoxin with no antidote. It will kill anything!

Capitol vs District Comparisons
(Writing ideas for myself to use in fics)
Under the knife
Capitol citizens have the privilege to experience going under the knife for cosmetic purposes, while those in the districts worry their tributes will have their throats slit by the similarly sharp tools meant to cut the skin.
Skinny and thin
While people in the Capitol are thin by way of medication, surgery, or even purging, district life means finding nutrients anywhere you get, and often times, they simply don't. They starve until the outlines of their ribs show under barely any skin, poking through as though it is mesh. There is no skininess by choice here in (insert District number), unless you are a mother skipping a meal for the sake of your child having something in their belly by the end of the day.
Television
Entertainment is found in abundance in the Capitol, plenty of videos, and reruns at the fingertips, where a show of blood brings about a cheer or melodrama gets a sponsor. In the districts, the television is for just two things: the Games and propaganda, and there is no entertainment in that. In watching televised and state sponsored executions.
A Capitolite can go to bed without the worry that they will be punished for missing a beat, but a district citizen will bite their nails off wondering if needing to relive themselves to the restroom during a big moment in the Games will result with a gun to their head or a rope to the throat.
Dinner and a show (Bread and Circuses)
In the Capitol, food is always served while a screen or projector is on and working. But in the districts, especially 12, you'd be hard pressed to find even a loaf of bread available at dinner time. And good luck keeping your appetite and the meager "meal" down while you watch yet another child be slaughtered for the third day in a row.
Medicine
Medication isn't hard to require with just a simple doctors visit in the Capitol or even buying what is legal, such as diet pills. Yet, most in the districts rely on simple, natural remedies they can get their hands on; plants such as aloe vera for burns in accidents, potentilla that helps with insect bites, even lavender for irritated skin. If you're really lucky, you can find yarrow leaves to mash up for wounds, put them in tea for a headache, or harvest chamomile for tinctures that soothe sore throats and indigestion. Lab grown and the synthetic is not common in any district, not even 1, where luxury is manufactured.

A Detailed Look at Cinnamon: Types, Benefits, and Cultural Importance
When we think of cinnamon, what usually comes to mind is its warm, sweet aroma and its role in making food taste delicious. But did you know that there’s more than one type of cinnamon — and that each type offers its own health perks and culinary uses?
An emerging organic spice brand from Jaipur is on a mission to make traditional Indian spices more accessible and better understood, starting with this fragrant favorite. In this article, we’ll take you through the key types of cinnamon, their origins, taste profiles, uses, and how they contribute to overall wellness.
Understanding the Varieties of Cinnamon
There are four major types of cinnamon commonly used around the world. While they might appear similar at first glance, their differences lie in taste, strength, and nutritional value.
Ceylon Cinnamon – The Purest Form
Where It’s From: Grown mainly in Sri Lanka
Taste and Texture: Light, subtly sweet, and mild in comparison to other varieties
Key Benefits:
Contains high levels of antioxidants
Supports heart function
Helps maintain balanced blood sugar levels
Noteworthy Feature: Known as “true cinnamon,” Ceylon is valued for its lower levels of coumarin, making it a safer choice for frequent consumption.
Cassia Cinnamon – The Widely Used Alternative
Origin Countries: Predominantly cultivated in China and Indonesia
Flavor Notes: Robust, slightly bitter, and more intense
Important to Know:
High in coumarin, which should be consumed in moderation
Commonly found in supermarkets and used in everyday cooking and baking
Saigon Cinnamon – The Potent Spice
Native To: Vietnam
Taste: Extremely aromatic, spicy, and bold
Best For: Recipes that require an intense cinnamon presence — think cinnamon buns, apple pies, or spiced lattes.
Korintje Cinnamon – The Subtle Performer
Country of Origin: Indonesia
Flavor Profile: Smooth, slightly sweet, and not too overpowering
Ideal Uses: A go-to option for commercial bakers and commonly included in spice blends
Cinnamon Names Across Indian Languages
Cinnamon, though universal in its appeal, has different names based on the region and language:
In Hindi: दालचीनी पाउडर (Dalchini Powder)
In Tamil: பட்டை தூள் (Pattai Thool)
This localization not only highlights its cultural roots but also helps consumers recognize the spice in their own linguistic context.
For a broader view on cinnamon’s cultural and botanical heritage, check out our related article on cinnamon's origin and regional variations.
Health Advantages of Incorporating Cinnamon Into Your Diet
More than just a culinary delight, cinnamon offers a host of health benefits supported by both traditional wisdom and modern research:
Strengthens Immunity: Thanks to its antioxidant properties
Regulates Glucose Levels: Supports better sugar metabolism, especially beneficial for those with type 2 diabetes
Promotes Digestive Comfort: Long used in home remedies to treat indigestion and bloating
Improves Circulation: Has heart-friendly qualities that reduce bad cholesterol and support healthy blood flow
Has Antimicrobial Properties: Naturally combats bacteria and inflammation
Final Thoughts: Choosing the Right Cinnamon for Your Lifestyle
Whether you’re adding a sprinkle to your coffee, brewing a traditional spiced tea, or baking holiday treats, cinnamon offers something for everyone. Knowing the differences between varieties like Ceylon, Cassia, Saigon, and Korintje can help you select the right type for your health needs and flavor preferences.
If you’re looking to buy authentic cinnamon directly sourced from organic farms, consider connecting with a Jaipur-based spice brand committed to purity, sustainability, and rich Indian heritage. Choosing the right spice starts with knowing where it comes from — and how it can elevate your health and taste experience.
