(sorry, this got way long, and maybe a little sappy, but i didn't want to spam with multiple asks)

so i just finished reading the most recent chapter of the cultist reincarnation au, and i love it so so much.

my personal fave part is bills little rivalry with the mini bill plush. bill waited for so long to see his husband again, and this little plush is getting all of the affection bill wants, i love it. i hope dipper keeps it around after getting all his memories back, because it is a wonderful way to tease bill. just 'fine, i'll just go hug and kiss my new, better husband!' said as dipper walks off with mini bill just to annoy bill.

after reading that chapter i started rereading the entire familiar au (or like 95% of everything that was written for it including snippits, pov changes, and multipart stories, thanks to weirdeggi's masterpost) and its so so fun and interesting seeing bill go from a demonic jackass who barely tolerates his human, to seeing him put so much time, care, and patience into making sure the cultist reincarnation of dipper feels comfortable and relaxed around him. while seeing dipper go from timid and ignorant in the beginning to confident and knowledgeable with the ability to handle all of bills tricks easily.

it's just all so good and you write the characters so so well, i love them so much. i love seeing how much they've grown and drove each other insane/sane. the world building is so well done, especially with how the magic works and affects things. i've read these stories so many times over the years and as they come out, and each new one is always a delight. no pressure on you to rush of course, please take your time, but know that any new fic or chapter you post has at least one person eager to read and enjoy it.

(the rest of this is just going to be fun questions that popped up while rereading, no pressure on answering them, i just thought of them while reading and thought they'd be fun to ask and share)

I am curious about how bill views or thinks about his 'sickness' after the events of confessing it, and if that's different from several reincarnations later. cause i know in the bill v bill fic the other bill still calls it a sickness, and while i know our bill is happy as hell, i do wonder if he still thinks its a sickness or a curse, even if its the best thing to ever happen to him.

i'd also be interested to know if dipper ever makes friends with any demons, cause like i know in confessing it he meets pyronica and she reminds him of mabel, and he kinda got along with the spider centaur demon, but it would be neat to know if he ever makes actual friends with any demons, and if those friendships 1) make bill jealous 2) last over several reincarnations

speaking of the reincarnation, i'm curious when in their relationship that those two put that plan into action. like if it was still early into their relationship or if it was as dipper got older and his days got more numbered. i know bill thinks of it kind of early on while they're together, but that doesn't mean it's put into action right away.

it would be neat to see how all bills henchmen eventually see the whole bond too. i know in confessing it they see bill acting all weird with dipper, and how much his human affects bills mood, so im sure they know its better to have him around even if for a little while. but its fun to think that later down the line when the reincarnations pop up its viewed more as 'vacation time' when the henchmen don't have to take over reality and can relax while bills off smooching his mortal.

Okay, onto the questions:

1: Bill likely still considers it a sort of sickness/curse, but like. Not a bad one, necessarily. While his relationship is way weird for a demon, that's actually great! He's the master of weirdness! If it weirds out other beings or confuses the hell out of them, that's proof that he's the best in the biz, baby. And he's very, very happy.

2: Dipper probably does make some demon friends/acquaintances. It's only natural after multiple lifetimes running in the same circles with eternal beings. Given a friendship in one lifetime, it's likely the demons' assumption that they'll just pick back up where they left off! Neat new body, how's it suiting you? (The familiarity weirds out Dipper incarnations until they get their memories back.)

I don't think Bill's jealous of them, though. Hanging out with buddies doesn't register as 'competition' for Dipper's affections, in the same way that Dipper's not jealous of the henchmaniacs.

3: I haven't decided exactly when they settle on the reincarnation thing, but likely it's after a near-death experience. Maybe even post-whump!

4: Speaking of those henchmen! They're eventually gonna get used to Bill being hitched. Not like they have a choice in the matter; Dipper's not going anywhere.

The new status quo is pretty weird, but they knew what they were getting into in regards to 'weird' - and frankly, Bill's in a vastly better mood whenever his husband's home. Something that puts the Boss in a cheerful Fun Times Interdimensional Crimes Party mood? When he gets pissy there's a human who deals with it, rather than Bill lashing out and picking on whoever's closest? Absolutely! They're all for it! Once those Big Upsides become apparent, they're gonna be pleased to see Dipper hanging around.

you and nagi have been together for a while. 

you must admit when you first started dating it did felt weird dating a lazy football player. 

just as you manage to got used to it in a few months, it got even weirder realizing that nagi seishiro, your beloved boyfriend was your brother’s best friend. 

it seems like reo himself didn’t know you were dating his best friend. it was clear to you that nagi had never told anyone of his relationship with you and that made you feel some sort of wave called relieve. so instead of telling reo, you decided to keep it hidden first. 

if you are wondering, no one in the school or anywhere infact knew about you and reo being step siblings because you didn’t really want the fame and your parents have always prioritize reo’s needs more than you, and with that you and reo agreed and manage to as well convince your parents to take in your biological mother’s surname instead. 

yes you have always questioned why the mikage family decided to adopt you, but that doesn’t mean you weren’t grateful about it at all. it felt like you were in a dream. even if your step parents didn’t give you much attention, you step brother did. he would always manage to convince his parents to spoil you. you have to admit, reo is probably the best brother you could ever have. 

he was always the person who cared, so its not really a surprise that reo would probably be the one who would stay longer then anyone when you are in your grave. and you would also do the same. 

now lets go back to our original subject....

not only did reo did not know about your relationship with nagi, but nagi himself also did not know that you were the younger sibling of his friend, mikage reo. the decision seems foolish because honesty usually is the best policy and you agree it is. its just that you can’t seem to bring yourself to tell them about this. 

so keeping it a secret was suppose to bring you time so you can feel prepared on when to tell them. 

but to your luck, life wasn’t liking your decision so of course it had to ruin it in some way possible. when you were already ready to tell reo, that was when fate decided to struck.

so it was at school. you came up to reo all of a sudden to ask if he’d like to walk with you for a while. yes it did weirded out others in the school because they themselves knew that you were already dating someone. 

everyone knew you were dating someone including your brother, but they just didn’t know who. yes reo did know about you having a relationship, but he didn’t ask you because he didn’t want to sound like and overprotective brother to you and he obviously did not want to pry into your personal business. he chose to be patient and waited you to tell him about it. 

that shows he’s a caring brother figure doesn’t it. 

meanwhile with nagi, he saw you walking up to reo his closest friend. it did bother him but he didn’t want to show it. he also felt a weird feeling and he absolutely disliked the whole feeling. something in his head had told him to follow you guys so he did...

so when you and reo arrived to a less crowded space you were about to tell him but you were cut off by your snow white boyfriend. 

“so what did you want to talk about?” 

“well it’s about--” just as you were about to tell him, you felt your body being pulled by to hands and your back was faced with someones chest, that person proceeded to put his head on you shoulder and say something you wouldn’t expect. 

“I'm not that jealous type but what's mine is mine.”

your jaw dropped. you knew who it was. his words had struck you and you went speechless. your face was also burning up. those words was something so unexpected to hear from nagi. he sounded so jealous right now. 

meanwhile reo had witnessed the whole thing and was processing what he just saw. now i guess he finally realized who you were with. he did felt disappointed you didn’t tell him but he understands that you have a hard time telling people something so big to you. he just smirked at nagi. 

“so you are jealous huh nagi?” he chuckled and decided to teased nagi even more. “of course i am. you can have anyone else just not my dove...” reo looks at you and he couldn’t hold in his laughter since your face right now was priceless. 

you were so flustered. your face was fully flushed with the colors of red and pink. 

“hey chill, i wont steel them from you cause that would be just weird!” that made nagi confused. “nagi..they’re my step sibling, and i have to say i am disappointed they didn’t tell me about you two but i’m happy its you honestly,” 

nagi was confused but shock at this info. “dove why you didn’t tell me that you were siblings with reo,” he sounded so sad and he looked quite betrayed. “i couldn’t bring the courage to tell you..” 

“mm i guess that’s understandable..”

favorite series of all time: fullmetal alchemist

brotherhood, if we’re talking anime, but the manga is still the superior version no matter what. best art, best story, best characters, best fight scenes, best EVERYTHING: the pinnacle of what shonen should be. fma made me want to pursue visual storytelling and quite honestly changed the course of my life. could talk about it forever. cannot recommend it enough. riza hawkeye best character forever and ever.

second favorite series ever: ouran highschool host club

once again, the anime is decent but the manga is where it’s at. ohshc subverts classic shojo tropes while also playing into them and i love love love it for that. i recently reread it and was delighted to find that it still holds up for the most part. makes me scream with laughter and i cannot choose a favorite character (mouri best host tho). it was also just super ahead of its time. hilarious while also being heartfelt and genuine. greatest love confession scene in the history of the world.

maomao MAKES👏THIS👏SERIES, i love her SO MUCH. this series has taken over my life. i watched the anime over and over and when i got tired of that, i read the manga over and over, and when i ran out of that, i began READING THE LIGHT NOVELS which i NEVER DO. i read nearly all of the light novels over the course of a week while i was super sick and coughing my lungs inside out, but it was a good time. i still actively read the english translations of the light novel chapters they come out and it honestly makes me week every time. also gaoshun is my favorite character and i would marry him SO fast.

if i had to describe this series in one word, it would be nostalgia. that may be because it was the second series i ever read as a kid, but it also just FEELS like blurry summer days and childhood friends you’ve nearly forgotten about. also manga natsume is way more fine that anime natsume. i can’t believe they changed his hair color >:(

detective conan

…or “case closed” as they call it in the united states. i have a lot of contempt for series that drag on for forever in the sake of making money but lemme tell you, early conan was GOOD. it was gory and dark and sometimes kinda scary but it was also a little goofy and cheesy. throwback to the early volumes when conan rode a large dog to rescue a kidnapped girl and also held the hand of a dying woman covered in blood as he told her his true name. you don’t get stuff like that anymore because the show’s demographic is getting younger. but i miss the days when people were getting decapitated via roller coaster. i stick with it for sentimental reasons because i’ve watched/read it since i was a tween. i also own the first 80 volumes of the english manga and named my cat Osaka aftwd heiji hattori. also kaito kid sucks and i hate him.

Male reader that already had his surgery but some people were mean to him saying his still a female (how would Reyna react to them, comfort reader, etc) have a great day/night!

I am always open for asks like this because I know how much comfort they can give people as well as it just feels nice to have something like this sometimes. I hope you enjoy it and will be writing it as both top and bottom surgery (though the focus will be top surgery for obvious reasons). This is not proof read as im still a bit sick and finished a book recently so rereading anything makes my brain soup so i apologize for any mistakes.

Reyna is no stranger to being different though she doesn't understand why it is such a big deal for some. As such she is as well read as she can be when it comes to queer issues, especially if they involve her partner or someone close to her. She may not be perfect but she is always willing to listen and understand. Since day one when you introduced yourself she had asked for your pronouns, a habit Gekko had gotten her into, and didn't ask any questions past that. At that point you had obvious defined hips, despite trying to hide them, and a notable bump in your chest as binders weren't perfect but she never questioned it. You called yourself a man so she did and when you came out to her you could tell the dots connecting in her brain as you spoke. If someone misgendered you she would just very bluntly correct them with a "he." then stare at them with those vibrant eyes until you folded. Reyna was like having a guard dog that, even if they disregarded your identity, made it hard for anyone to disrespect you to your face in her presence. As you two grew closer and became a pair she would get a little intrusive but well meaning. She would ask you about physical things ranging from affection to more intimate ones. How you wanted her to handle you or refer to you, if you were comfortable with her seeing you in certain clothing or ways etc. Reyna is a woman who likes to establish clear boundaries and does so with you so she can be the best girlfriend she can be while also making sure you are comfortable. If permitted she can be found at times stealing your clothes like most girlfriends would, favoring anything oversized or jackets. She never stops gushing about her partner and boyfriend, even talking about how her sister would adore you and probably see you as a brother. At the end of the day who you are at the surface doesnt matter to her as she cares more about whats under it all, appearances be damned.

Post surgery shes adorable and overbearing as you heal. She helps change bandages, drains, even helps you shower if needed. Her radiance lets her monitor your heart rate and body temp so at the first sign of any infection or inflammation shes right on top of it making you take medicine and rest. Once you're healed enough she is the first to nuzzle herself into your chest and sit in silence as she hears your heart beat, you breath, just you exist as a more full version of yourself thats hopefully happier being in your own skin. Given how supportive and loving she is she absolutely takes it HORRIBLY when people are still mean and cruel to you. She makes sure to over talk them with your pronouns and correct name, throwing compliments at you in there as well to make them feel absolutely smothered by her. Of course thats when you're there, when you arent shes snarling and threatening them in the way shes best at. Teeth bared shes asking them to repeat themselves, seeing how dedicated they are to their bigotry before tearing into them. If theres one things Reyna is good at its being scary and damn does she scare them into at least being politely silent. When it comes to comforting you shes your biggest fan already but shes admittedly a tad bad at it because she doesn't really get why they have to be like that. Before it made sense because maybe they slipped up or just weren't thinking but now that you've taken steps to masculinize yourself more she sees absolutely zero excuse. Reyna holds you against her and promises to make sure you don't have to hurt again, to weed out those that would treat you this way. She makes threats of ripping tongues out but calms herself to turn her attention to you. You're the one that was hurt by people to small minded to be accepting, being vengeful won't fix that right now. For as long as you need she is there, holding you and talking to you. She talks you into setting up a date where she introduces you to her family that accept you just as she had. She arranges shopping trips to get you more masculine clothes and even helps you donate your old binders to other trans youth. Reyna even pulls Gekko in to "help his big brother out" as theres just some things about being a man that she doesn't understand but knows having someone like him around would be helpful

A case of the flops

First fanfiction of this fandom, idk how to feel about this but here we go. 

So  I have recently learned that bunnies flop on their sides when they are utterly blissed out/ content.  And i wanted to base some fluff for legend off of this. Because it's not leaving my brain.  (rereading this , would it be considered angst or fluff or a mix of both idk)

Little side note: i found an article that said that legends world, specifically a link to the past, would smell like mushrooms. And it seems reasonable to me so im gonna roll with it  

Gn Neutral!reader 

The chain was setting up camp, the nearest inn being a couple days away unfortunately.  Its wild’s  hyrule, being near mount satori, smelled of mushrooms and apples , due to the number of them around. 

The smell brought some comfort to legend. 

The chain finished setting up camp, now currently waiting on wild to finish dinner. 

There were small and comfortable conversations all around the camp, bringing everyone to a sort of temporary peace. 

Legend eventually made his eyes over to reader, noticing how they were making small talk with wind and wild. He feels the need to go over to reader for some reason. 

Slowly he had made his way to their side, standing next to them.   Suddenly wind, noticing something cool that was in the tree next to his bed roll, runs off trying to see what it was, wild went back to making dinner, leaving reader and legend to themselves.  Reader looking up to legend motions him over to stand next to them.  legend , moving closer to them is now just at an arm's length away.  Suddenly , the conversations around the camp start to zone out of legends ears. Feeling safe and content with the person he's next to, the people around him. He just flops onto readers lap. Instantly falling asleep, scaring the chain. 

Time , being the first of the 9 to notice, comes over to reader and asks “What happened?” his arm moving to legends neck to check for fever, breath, and pulse. Seeing that legend still had all the above, starts to chill out but still is expressing concern.

The other 8 finally  notice. 

Reader is starting to freak out, they have an unconscious teenager on their lap, with no signs of sickness, why wouldn't they ?

slowly , twilight and sky , move to the sides of time who is standing in front of the panicking reader.

Next, and behind them, the rest if the chain huddles around. Saying a mix of “what happened?” “ why is he not waking up”?  That was mainly heard from wind  and just panicking words in general. 

Twilight, remembering that legend had used the dark crystal a little more than usual; puts together the pieces. Remembering that this is just normal bunny behavior, nudges sky over to chat a little behind the commotion. 

“He's fine,  remember he's been a rabbit for a little bit.. Longer than normal.”

“ oh.. Yea,” sky, not having  rabbits in his time, inquired, “is he really ok? Hes not waking up, not moving, responding to sound or touch? really ?” 

“ yes, unbelievable as it is, it's just a side effect , it's normal really. He might have a few behavior changes for sometime, but he will be fine.”

Sky finally having some understanding of what's happening, slowly moves back to the small huddle of panicking heroes. Twilight not too far behind. 

Sky finally moving towards reader , their legs have been well past asleep at this point.   Gettings inside the little huddle was a challenge having to push his way through. Finally getting in the group he , announces  to the chain that was past the point of going borderline insane, “he is fine he's just needed a little extra rest for a couple days,  and a little more attention, we don't know yet.” he states while grabbing legends limp body out of readers lap (which turned out to be  less of a challenge than he thought it would be.) carrying legend to his bedroll, while the good majority of the chain following (the younger members) twilight who was just behind sky takes reader by their shoulders and lifts them up of the ground. Dinner was well forgotten by now. Starting to burn slowly. The well being of the unconscious member being more of  a priority now.

After legend was laid down in his bedroll, it was suggested by twilight that maybe reader move theirs closer to his. That way when he wakes up he won't think they disappeared.   Doing as suggested , to prevent any further problems, reader moves their bed roll next to his.

As the night goes on , dinner has been served, commotion has died down , everyone seems fine , taking shifts for the night, people sleep.  everythings fine, until the morning comes. When legend wakes up he feels something missing , more like someone ( *cough* marin * cough*)  looking over to his side he finds the person who survived his little miss-hap of flopping. Noticing that they are still asleep he slowly shifts himself, just a bit. Closer to their bedroll, and passes out once again 

The cycle starts again.

Omg day 27 already?! I can’t believe this fest is almost done :( today’s prompt for @hprecfest is fun but also challenging for those (like me) who read way more canon-based fic than AUs. But I do love a good challenge so I decided to go full non-magical AU instead of picking a “Draco in the Muggle World” AU. I couldn’t care less for hockey, and yet I’ve reread this classic more times than I care to admit. this is superb rivals with benefits to lovers (my fave!), super hot and hilariously chaotic as all Drarry things should be. PE nails both characters in a non-magical setting perfectly - their voices are a delight and the constant flirting bickering made me lol every 3 seconds. they are so deliciously crazy for each other I could stay in this verse forever just watching them pine, play & fuck throughout the season - make sure to go check the FlintWood piece here, it’s equally brilliant! def a classic sports AU to reread over and over.

Harry Potter, returning member of the Oxford University Boat Club, has two goals for the spring of 2005: beat Cambridge, and beat Draco Malfoy. Perhaps not in that order.

an instant 2023 fave, this is the rowing AU I did not know I needed but boy, am I happy it found me 🙏🏼 citrus got me shooketh from beginning to end, I am awed by the world building and the whole Oxford way of life especially the classism aspect and the training ethos. everything is so vivid and refreshing and unlike anything I’ve seen in the fandom so far. the fic incorporates many canon elements and balances dialogue, world building and character development flawlessly. being in Harry’s head is an emotional ride, he’s a wonderful and relatable character and I just wanted him to be happy so badly. Draco’s arc is equally moving (I was screaming at his reappearance) and this is peak rivals to lovers!!! I was very invested in the competition and the romance is so so lovely and real. I felt incredibly sad and lost when I finished this fic because I wanted to stay in this universe forever. fun, inventive, sophisticated and surprising in the best ways, go read it now

Lucien Lachance x Antoinetta Marie Headcanons: The Great Treachery of Cheydinhal

As I mentioned in my first headcanon post, I have a whole headcanon scenario for how I believe this pairing would be affected by the Dark Brotherhood questline. Far more angst and tragedy in this one so buckle up!

Antoinetta and Lucien's relationship grows strained as the Great Treachery of Cheydinhal rears its ugly head. It began as the rumblings of a potential traitor saw Lucien far busier than usual, their trysts growing even farther apart. Then it's deduced that it's the Cheydinhal Sanctuary that has bred the traitor.

Lucien is paranoid about what this means of he and Antoinetta. He attempts to calculate dates and times, any evidence that could support the idea SHE did not commit the treachery. Nothing is substantial.

The downward spiral begins. He is livid. Had he truly been sleeping with the enemy? In letting his guard down, letting her in, has he helped damn his Brotherhood? The mere idea feels like a betrayal, and though a part of him trusts her, knows her enough to understand her loyalty to the Brotherhood is sincere and unshakable, there is no option to act upon the instinct of the heart and rule her out.

The idea festers in him, and he grows taciturn and distant to Antoinetta. After all he cannot fully trust her now. More than that... if he separates himself enough, the sting of the wound that is bound to be inflicted may burn less.

Antoinetta, distraught by their sudden strain, seeks him out in private; little does she know this is the time Lucien's recieved the order for Purification. Try as she may to plead for an explanation he shuts her down, tells her they are finished. Knowing to flee from a fight she cannot win, Antoinetta retreats back to the Sanctuary more confused and upset than when she first sought him out. She just... doesn't understand what happened between them! And she's determined not to lose this - but it's obvious a face-to-face discussion didn't work, so she takes to brainstorming other gestures that may convince Lucien to reconsider...

(You can actually find this letter in the Cheydinhal Sanctuary. I headcanon this is an unsent letter Antoinetta wrote for Lucien because I enjoy pain.)

Antoinetta laments on when she should deliver this letter to Lucien. She decides to wait awhile; perhaps whatever is troubling him will settle down by then and he will be more agreeable. She looks over her work as she takes a bite of an apple on the table.

It's poisoned.

Antoinetta has a horrible epiphany as she is dying. Lucien ordered for her death. The man who had once given her a second chance at life has also just taken it away. What twisted irony. She might even chance one last chuckle at it, were she able to breath...

After Lucien sees his newly appointed Silencer off on their way, he begins the messy work of cleaning up the Purified Sanctuary. When he gets to Antoinetta... he numbs himself to the sight. What sick luck it is for his new Silencer to utilize the poisoned apples he'd given them, only for Antoinetta to take one? He sees the letter left on the table near her body, and reads it. It is full of sentiments he dare not process right now. He pockets it.

The next few weeks are a lonesome existence for Lucien. He contemplates why his Silencer has recently gone inactive after Lucien's initial contracts, and struggles with plans to rebuild the Cheydinhal Sanctuary as he copes with his losses. That is to say he scarcely copes at all; I personally headcanon Lucien is... well... Emotionally Constipated for lack of a better term. He does not allow himself a good cry. His venting is channeled through bursts of rage. He's frustrated his composure is spiraling down in the sewers. This whole arc going on behind the scenes is him basically going

And Lucien realizes he can't really let go either, of Antoinetta in particular. He's sometimes compelled to reread her letter - the last words he'll ever have from her. He had cut off a portion of her shrouded armor's shawl before burying her and keeps it until her scent of cooking seasoning and dead things fade. Sithis, he even occasionally has dreams of their old trysts. Wait... he loved this woman and is dealing with... remorse? The audacity!

Then he discovers his Silencer has been severing the Black Hand; the Treachery didn't die with his Sanctuary. Lucien snaps. That crazed, livid Lucien we see during A Kiss Before Dying is the result of this revelation and all the accumulated anger and remorse he's bottled up over the Purification. And of course - we all know what happens afterwards...

Antoinetta and Lucien meet again in the Void. It's a bittersweet reunion. Antoinetta is hurt over his mistrust of her. Lucien apologizes - no pomp or excuses - and leaves it in her hands to decide whether or not she wants to forgive him for robbing her of a fuller life. They both mull over the circumstances of their deaths... what was and what could have been... but in the end they are bonded. Joined through the powers of the Void.

SPEAKING OF THAT. i’m looking forward to seeing the bad endings / alternate universes in it. like … if kirumi killed phys. or korekiyo succeeded in killing phys. or …if kokichi didn’t walk in when gonta attempted to kill phys . ohmygod. phys almost died a lot. i hope we get to see how everyone reacts. ur so kind this is like. one of the sweetest asks ive ever received i was pacing all day and im just answering now because i wanted to have the time to write out a thoughtful response because ohhghgh my god u made my absolute week with this thank you SO much my angel !!!!!

starting this story it was so important to me that like . phys has Other Friends. i think i mentioned this before but i think a big part of the story is that Ouma's mindset is wrong and unhealthy which is definitely starting to be examined this late in the story and like. the way he goes about doing stuff is definitely (mostly) well-intentioned but his mindset and philosophies are so Off and Wrong that i think ONLY having his mindset to influence Phys would a) ensure that phys only develops in a way that makes them more like him, which is NOT good because his mindset is wrong and unhealthy, and b) would make them extremely lonely when that isnt what i want the story to be about. if i COULD i would go back and give them some more interaction with momota because he's ouma's foil character, but i like him giving phys advice and phys taking on bits of his philosphy, too. they basically take an amalgamation of their friends' perspectives and learn to have a healthier outlook that way. so yeah . its super important for phys to have friends, especially optimistic ones like momota, kiibo and chabashira .

MY BODY LIES!!!! i haven't forgotten about this, just planning on properly starting it after i finish sleep awake's main story because between that , my p5 fic, and my jojo fic its kind of A Lot. but amami will DEFINITELY be a prominent character in it because i love his and phys's relationship so much. i tried to stretch it as much as possible in the original story before i knew i had to kill him off :(( and YEAH so i think a bad ending will be the first chapter which will probably be if shinguuji succeeded in his murder attempt , mostly focusing on the aftermath and the effect it has on the rest of the characters which . was pretty heavy for a first chapter so i may make it the second instead lmao.

I CANT SAY MUCH ABT FUTURE STUFF but i CAN say that some of ch5 and a fair amount of ch6 will be different and im super excited to show you what i have in store for it !!! the tone i'm going for is bittersweet so . hopefully that tides you over for a bit :3

the new trio... the phys apostles as i'm calling them. they're so silly to me. something about each of them knowing phys in very unique ways . kiibo seeing phys as soon as they woke up and always being the first to believe in them , chabashira seeing phys after they killed shinguuji and being the only person to see that side of them, and saihara being a sort of mirror to phys's grief in the early chapters after they both lost the most important person to them ( at that time ). i thought it made sense that they would all be a little more reluctant to believe that phys had been totally brainwashed because they all have a lot more respect for them than that , and also just . know them better as a person than the others , who are definitely still well-intentioned , just ignorant.

ouma... my little freakweirdo bf . characterising him is such a challenge but im so so happy you enjoy how i've done it !!!! physouma's dynamic is my favourite i've ever written in anything, i think . it's exactly like you said !!! they're constantly on this weird emotional journey where phys is attempting to get closer and ouma is attempting to distance himself but its not working because they both care about each other so much and like. yeah . they make me a bit insane too . writing phys slowly discovering their feelings has been super fun too . i usually dislike the oblivious love interest trope because more often than not it feels like it's played for miscommunication problems BUT i feel like with ouma it only makes sense because like . its impossible to know where you stand with ouma even if he straight-up says 'im in love with you' you'd just be like ?? yeah ok buddy sure. good one . you got me.

autistic phys is so real to me as i obviously also have autism and . i was projecting super hard when i created them teehee. THE PERSONA FIC !!!! i know its been a while since i updated but i AM working on the next chapter its definitely not abandoned :3

goddddd the way every conversation between undine and kokoro is the exact same “they have trauma and anxiety but they’re gonna get a good grade in therapy” routine. The therapy talk is just boring but also it just feels repetitive without really adding anything new to their characters or the plot

and because of this, the story just grinds to a halt whenever they start talking which is. not a good thing to say about the MAIN CHARACTERS

If your story is at its best when it’s not about the main characters, then you fucked up somewhere real bad.

Even therapy talk can be tolerable when the characters are talking about it in relationship to the main plot or core themes. For example, the idol industry, capitalism, and child labor/soldiers: these can all be made more mundane, and can be interesting things to talk about! But their personal problems have no relation to the work’s core themes. Kokoro, babygirl, I could not give less of a shit about your dad.

I’m reminded of a book called doll bones, which I remembered loving for the creepy ghost story. I reread it recently, and was disappointed to realize major chunks of the novel were characters being afraid to grow up and arguing about it, when the creepy ghost story was truly the better story.

Mary’s comic is about healing, but there can be no true healing in a system that condones your death. Her characters will never heal from their anxiety, and neither will she, because it is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

I had no idea there were so many sleepless domain haters on tumblr. My comrades in arms, we should start a union. Or at least a new tumblr tag so we don’t clog up the notifs of people who actually enjoy sleepless. Any suggestions?

EDIT 2: another main theme in this comic is death and depression, and SD's adamant refusal to discuss the relationship both the mains have with death is the story's central weakness.

Hello Bloo!! I’m so sorry it took me this long to finally reply. Life is life, and now I’m here! But just know that I’ve been rereading this ask consistently because it makes me so happy that my work can…make people think THOUGHTS? In-depth thoughts that they want to share with me?? It still barely feels real to me that people are liking my silly self-indulgent fic where I make the business man suffer. So thank you! I’m so happy you’re enjoying it, and thank you again for that deliciously-crafted fan comic! :)

I'm sparing your poor souls from a Cherry ramble under the cut. But for those who wanna peek inside my silly head:

As for what you’re saying about the fic itself…yeah HAHA. You’ve got it down. As someone who’s completely desensitized to their own ideas and the execution of said ideas, I don’t know how obvious all my little underlying themes and ulterior plot lines have been, but your interpretation of it all is pretty spot on. I’m a sucker for forcing characters to face their own truth via IMPOSSIBLE circumstances and then dragging every other character into a whirlpool of chaos and conflict and confrontation in turn. It makes it all the more fun >:)

I’ve been trying to write the characters carefully so their dynamics blend or clash or do anything else that I please, and that means letting them roam free and interact with each other while keeping their special character quirks. I love writing Mob constantly on the verge of guilty instability, Seri having to step his ass up despite his confidence not yet being 100%, Shou and his mysterious ways that are SO worth exploring because he's such a complex character despite not appearing a lot in canon, Ritsu’s impulsive, fear-driven, 13-year-old antics (and that dreaded stop sign), and of course, Reigen and all his pathetic self-loathing. In fact, ALL of them have been incredibly fun to write because ONE has amazing, fleshed-out characters that interact so well together. BUT I’ve been surprised with how much I’ve loved writing Dimple and Teru especially. Dimple’s not hard to write at all for me, but his interactions with the other characters in writing are ADDICTING, and I didn't expect that. I will say this forever, but I want Dimple in more fics because of the POTENTIAL. LET THE FART CLOUD HAVE THE SPOTLIGHT!! As for Teru—you can ask anyone who was around for the first few draft chapters of AH—I was very hesitant to write him at all. I personally think his character is very hard to nail, and I’m honestly surprised at how much the audience has taken to his role and his little moments within the fic—that encouragement and influence definitely made him appear more than I originally anticipated :)

I could ramble for hours about every character and all their inner complexities that I'd love to explore in this work and others. But I will stop myself here hahaha.

fake dates and mooncakes by sher lee: fake dating (obv) premise between a cooking boy and a rich heir! book that made me realized im honestly just not that interested in ya romance anymore LMFAO. pretty sweet and a decent read, but landed more heavily on the expository end of uhh i guess diaspora fiction? than i really prefer. i think i picked this up bc the author got mega cancelled on tyk twitter lol??

bird by bird by anne lammott: book about how to write. i love to read about how people do stuff :3 some of the advice applies pretty universally to creative efforts i think.. made me want to write more too

john dies at the end by jason pargin: DNF. comic/horror about this loser guy who discovers stuff. sigh i tried so hard to like this book its supposed to be pretty 'mecore'...talked about this with alena a bunch but its like hm... i know the sort of casual offensiveness sort of goes in hand with being poor and white and in the midwest and i appreciate how its like that creates its own doomed narrative or whatever. but also i feel like the protagonist would call me slurs or something. also the lowgrade but pervasive orientalism is kinda offputting. probably fun for some other guy! i did enjoy the horror elements though

the goldfinch by donna tartt: literary coming of age about a boys relationship with a painting (the goldfinch). also he flops a lot and its sort of homoerotic i guess? a movie was made of it. so something to note is that ive had this book out on loan since literally december. neil kept on being like hey man just stop reading it LMFAO. thoughts cp'ed from discord:

the bodyguard by katherine center: romance novel about a woman bodyguard who lives for her job. fresh from a breakup, shes given a new undercover assignment with a handsome actor, recently withdrawn from society. will they be able to break each others' shells....? my mom recommended this to me LMFAO we kind of have different tastes in romance.. ive read a book by this author before i think her platonic scenes are very strong? i wish there had been a couple more of those. also i like how she always includes a life affirming section at the end about how important it is for us to open ourselves up to love etc etc cute but not especially memorable

kiss quotient by helen hoang: (reread) a shy, autistic econometrician decides that she needs to get better at sex, and so hires an escort. helen hoang is one of my faavorite romance authors i really enjoyed this reread although i kinda forgot that both leads say, think and do some pretty embarrassing things. but you know a little embarrassment is endearing and all that.. i still prefer her other book (the bride test) but this one is pretty good too. vivid characters 👍

sisters of dorley hall by alyson greaves: web fiction - a trans woman infiltrates a secret force-feminization program. ok im just cp'ing my thoughts from discord again but i enjoyed it a lot:

my thoughts are that the first like, third? is really really good. it like idk takes the very real trans fears of like discovery and passing and all that and fictionalizes them a bit. but like its still grounded and swag. sooo tense once The Reveal happens n things w steph are pretty normal it gets kinda meandering? which i dont really mind bc i love interpersonal drama even if i miss how tense and scary it was. but also theres only like two major plot threads going on rn and theyre both pretty slowburn. a timeskip would probably benefit tbh like the point rn is kinda like. the 7 year meteor? yeah sorry

like it used to be sort of psychological thriller? and now its sort of more character focus and also surprisingly fluffy.. im surprised that the author has said they have a complete outline bc it doesnt feel very focused atm? but also like i suppose things are snowballing a bit re: revealing the sisters to the outside world

an unauthorized fan treatise by lauren james: a fangirl trying to prove her rpf ship is real uncovers a greater conspiracy. to me if something is able to capture a specific age/vibe from the internet its automatically pretty good. however more and more people are learning how to do that so maybe i should change my standards... i was never involved in All That re: rpf or even fandoms of live action shows until kamen rider? but like i definitely knew people in hs that were sort of like this LMFAO so it felt very familiar. i appreciate the author trying to make that $$ but i dont know if it really needs an expansion/sequel.. the ending is better off with some ambiguity imo

xo kitty: kitty goes to a school to connect with her online boyfriend, but all is not well. yall this was not good. i guess my standards shouldnt have been that high but to all the boys ive loved before was so cute!! (havent watched/read the others). but like.. the writing was bad and the main actress just wasnt very sympathetic or charming? characters waste time saying "i can explain" until time runs out for them to actually explain, additional (and nonsensical) romance plots are added for no reason, and the male lead isnt even that hot. sorry. also kitty deciding to move to korea to connect with her mom but not bothering to learn a speck of korean and insisting that everyone else speak to her in english really sucks honestly. not even my mom liked it so thats how you know its bad 👎

shin kamen rider (hideaki anno): reboot of the first kamen rider by the guy who made evangelion. this guy kinda makes the same thing over and over but it looked sick as hell so i wasnt complaining. like stella obstinaterixatrix said, kinda more introspective or even insular to the point of kinda ignoring the usual kr theme of justice but it was still very fun :3 kinda want to watch the original now

kamen rider juuga vs kamen rider olteca: two-parter special for kr revice. i forgot what happened in this pretty much immediately after but karizaki was hot

roman holiday: a princess touring in rome escapes her duties for a day, and meets a dashing young reporter. classic romance!! i actually liked this so so much like it actually is very romantic and funny and like deserves the hype. didnt expect it to be in black and white even so audrey hepburn is really hot. (spoilers) more romances should have bittersweet endings though like it hit

kamen rider ryuki: a young man is inducted into a battle royale between those fighting for their deepest wishes, and decides to try and stop the rider battle once and for all. hey guys ryuki is so fucking good for those who have watched madoka magica a lot of it is very heavily based off of/inspired by ryuki! but ryuki does it better. pretty much The kamen rider has so much to say about justice and love and what it means to be a hero and sacrifice and *runs out of air and falls over* also it made me cry. if you ever try kamen rider try this one <3

EDIT OH i forgot about across the spiderverse 100/10 obviously groundbreaking in animation nice take on generational trauma and also like the nature of adaptation and being in a multimedia comics franchise and all that. really hope the sequel doesnt get crunched too bad. oh but copaganda not great 99/10

video games:

twisted wonderland: gacha game where random disney villains are bishie high schoolers instead. ill play chapter 3 sometime soon i swear. gameplay is terrible as with most gacha games but the characters are cute? i feel terrible guilt for being involved with a disney franchise. honestly pretty compelling character writing sometimes though sorry

apico: stardew-like about raising bees (in beta). sooooo cute and the devs obv care about bees a lot in real life. the gameplay loop + breeding systems are a little bit punishing right now though i really hope it gets adjusted. took over my life during finals (woops) and i got like half the bees and then burnt out. multiplayer is fun though!

legend of zelda tears of the kingdom: the next zelda game, now featuring building + vertical elements. yeah this took over my life for two months like it did for a bunch of other people i finished the main story a couple days ago! i might go back to do a couple more of the shrine puzzles, but other than that i think im done. LOVE the vertical elements and also all the little sidequests there are to do and how the world has changed since botw. dragons tears was really good and OMG PROVING GROUNDS. would be a 10/10 if zelda was the protag stop damseling her you guys cmon

paper mario origami king: newest paper mario game, which is a spinoff of the main series where theyre all paper (duh). im about halfway through this, i think? tried it out because of the dunkey video lol and also bc it was free at my library. very charming and inventive, has a really good soundtrack and really funny writing! i know the gameplay was controversial, but im enjoying it a lot (and theres a lot of room for error). might 100% it

it feels like this month i tried a lot of things that i didnt really like LMAO. also a lot of romance. im very happy about finally finishing the goldfinch! the only holdout on my libby is slaughterhouse 5 :P i did find some things that i really liked though! anyways this one feels a bit more scattered but if you got to the ending, congratulations! thanks for reading :3

I always reread When the party is over like once a week, i just cant word it properly but theres just something special about wanda fics with a soft married life, with soft moments and dirty moments with each other, where theyre like laying down on the bed naked and kissing/hugging or even as mundane as grocery shopping, its sweet, but i cant find more fics like this so i just keep rereading it, any recommendatioms if possible?

I too like domestic Wanda fics but I feel like it's all I've been writing so people would be getting sick of it. Now though, now I know there's at least one person out there that likes them lol

I've been reading In losing grip on sinking ships by ginnsbaker! One second I'm resenting Wanda, the next I resent R. It has my emotions everywhere! I do like a good mixed emotion, happy ending kind of story

Seattle's Resident Shaman

I love this series. If you take nothing else from this post, take my absolute adoration for Joanne, Gary, Morrison, Billy, and the cast of these nine books. They are incredibly written and unique. This is the urban fantasy detective/cop series I now recommend to readers instead of the Dresden Files. Let's talk The Walker Papers.

Joanne Walker (nee Siobhan Grania MacNamarra Walkingstick) is a half Irish, half Cherokee mechanic in Seattle who gets run through and is given three days to learn to use her shamanic powers and save the world. In Joanne's corner are septugenarian, recent widower, and all around badass good guy Garrison Matthrew Muldoon, Detective Billy Holliday, and Captain Michael Morrison. In the oppostite corner are the Wild Hunt, Cernunnos, and Hearne. Joanne barely manages to pull off not letting the end of the world happen, but all of Urban Shaman is a wake-up call about needing actual training and knowledge and kicks off a journey to get it.

Thunderbird Falls is, if anything, a treatise on the dangers of choosing sources and teachers, but also the lessons that you learn (and the damage that you live with and carry) in choosing poorly. This is the least memorable book in the series for me; it's not bad by any means, but it is the one I reread the least.

Coyote Dreams is tied for my favorite entry in this book with Mountain Echoes. CE Murphy had said that the series was conceptualized as three trilogies representing Joanne's journey from apprentice to journeyman to full shaman, and this book really feels like a changing point for Joanne, both magically, personally, and interpersonally. It's also where we really start to get a shift with Morrison, and the slow burn enemies to lovers thing they will roll with for the next few books really kicks off. It's also the book where Morrison gets prompted to actually look at Joanne's past, and for the next like, FOUR books you're always just kind of background wondering how much he knows. Plus we have an accidental end-of-times sign that kicks off a sleeping sickness, and as far as epidemics go, this one is not too intense for the 2020s.

If I have to tell you that Walking Dead is the zombie book...welcome to the literary club, we have jackets and I'll see about getting you the "Books 101" handbook. This is also the Halloween book, and literally everything about it is absolutely delightful. This book is sheer fun from start to finish, while simultaneously really digging into some emotional backstory with Billy and some really incredible closure with his sister.

If Walking Dead is the Halloween book, then Demon Hunts is the Christmas book--but I mean that in the best way. I'm not usually a "Christmas Book" girl, and its not overwhelming in this book, it's more just...it's been a couple months since the events of the last book, so it's December, y'all. But what I love about this book is that it really sparks Joanne's internal journey with coming to terms with her personal and cultural pasts. We get to meet her best friend from high school, and she's a Federal Office now. It's amazing. Also, Gary has a tortise, and no, I will not explain further, but it is INCREDIBLE.

Spirit Dances continues Joanne's journey into her cultural pasts. There is shapeshifting. There is DEFINTELY a Joanne-Morrison date, that they frame as a mission. There might be werewolves. This is also the book where Joanne transitions into a full-blown shaman in her own right; it's functionally a graduation day.

Where Demon Hunts and Spirit Dances really explore the Cherokee half of Joanne's heritage, Raven Calls dives deeeeeeep into the Irish half. If you are planning to read "No Dominion," this is the book that novella slots neatly inside. I actually do recommend reading "No Dominion" with this book, because it adds so much. Also, we very much get Morrison--who could not drop everything and fly to Ireland on zero notice because honestly, that's just life sometimes--putting Gary on a plane to be Joanne's backup. Seriously, the amount of no-questions-asked backup Joanne has is incredible and I love it.

Mountain Echoes is tied with Coyote Dreams for my favorite book, and this one is the Joanne and Morrison show that we have been waiting for for FIVE BOOKS at this point. This book also has wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff, and brings Joanne's past crashing forward into a present she objectively did not expect to have, let alone have to deal with. We get to meet Aidan--and briefly Ayita--in this book, and it's incredible. And THEN. And THEN CE Murphy drops the biggest bombshell as the last line at the end of this book. If you're going to read "No Dominion," read it BEFORE the end of this book.

Final books can be tricky, and not all of them stick the landing. I thought that Shaman Rises stuck the landing. It tied up all the threads that had built over the last eight books, and i was intensely satisfied at the end of it. No spoilers though, because this book is fast-paced and absolutely WILD. It's 100% worth the ride and I wouldn't dream of ruining it for anoyone.
