#rhaneyra and daemon

Note
Why do some people get mad / or call us crazy when we say that Daemon may not have slept with Nettles, (and maybe not even with Mysaria if we dig a little deeper) Or even that he may not have not be killed Laenor and Harwin? Claiming that we are trying to whitewash the character, when in fact they are real options? I don't understand. On the other hand, to say that Aegon and Aemond are rapists, obviously it's only rumors based on nothing...
A)
Sexism, misogyny, and envy for people of any gender. And if men--an inflated sense of their own masculinity.
They, like Ben Shapiro, cannot fathom how a man (of any age or time period) could ever sacrifice something they value for their female partner’s benefit or how a man can give up his political power for the woman.
They believe that Daemon is just using Rhaenyra for power, creating this 40-year plan where she sits patiently, forcing himself to have sex with her and father her kids only so that he can undermine her when she comes into rule. Rule behind her.
They imagine Daemon as capable of making grandiose, long term plans and having that sort of Machiavellian patience that we’d closer place on Tywin Lannister than him. If anything, Daemon is closer to Jaime Lannister. Clever and dismissive, but not prone to making “deep” plans and strategies. We see this in Daemon when he talks about sending letters to the various lords before using the dragons, which is a direct and total change the HotD writers chose for their false-adaptation.
B)
Then there are some who never read the book and watch the show and see this man who is depicted as being much worse than we can argue. Killing Laenor and Rhea Royce and Harwin, grooming Rhaenyra--all of things like this are things we can reasonably argue using the story’s and the historical/societal *context*.
Blood and Cheese is another matter. It was by Daemon;s doing and it was horribly, stomach-clenching. It was also a response to Aemond purposefully killing Lucerys in the book. Aemond did have to kill Lucerys above Storm’s End, but he did because he felt entitled to. We can’t erase this and say the greens were totally innocent players here.
TV watchers do not get to know that Alicent was 18--9 years older than Rhaneyra--when she married Viserys. that she was the one who protested against Rhaenyra staying as heir after her first son was born. After that, the book lets us know that Alicent forever after separated herself emotionally from Rhaenyra. And she definitely began to plot here.
Some don’t care to know and merely want to insert themselves into the Olivia Cooke’s character, feel undisturbed by their own real life victimhood and feel as if their suffering finally “makes sense” through the following of the same status quo which oppresses them.
And there are some who read the book, but don’t read it again and again or even bother to learn how to use *context* to inform their reading of the *text* and understand what the *subtexts* are. They forget that they are supposed to doubt Gyldayn and his sources and work to find specifically out what is true and what may be falsified or biased. They may not take into account how their own misogyny and need to conform colors how they read Gyldayn’s misogyny towards Rhaenyra, Nettles, Mysaria, etc., and thus favor the conformist Alicent and everything about her.

Little Girl || D. Targaryen x oc (Dear Motherhood Series)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GIF by me :) pls give cred if used DIVIDERS by @straywords
summary: in which Leyla and Daemon are invited to Rhaenyra’s celebration for her fourth year in marriage to Laenor, it gets heated quite quickly.
Dear Motherhood Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Are you sure you want to come? Leyla you could be in labour any minute now!” Daemon sternly says as he paces infront of her. The young Hightower rolls her eyes at her Husband. “I will be fine Daemon, stop worrying.” A dinner was going to be held in honour of Rhaenyra and Laenor’s fourth year in marriage.
Daemon had insisted that Leyla shouldn’t come because she was heavily pregnant with their fourth child Leyla watches as Daemon groans, running his hands down his face. It was as if he really did not want her to come to dinner with them.
She furrows her eyebrows, “Do you really not want me there?” Her voice quieted down as her gaze drops to her lap, her fingers instantly moving themselves and picking at her fingernails, an old habit picked up from Alicent. She was offended at how adamant Daemon was on his opinion that his Lady wife should not attend.
The Prince’s features immediately soften as he looks at his wife. “Of course I do, sweet girl” He kneels down infront of Leyla, “I just don’t want you to exhaust yourself too much” He kisses her hands. He knew of her bad habit, so he would delicately kiss her hands.
“Then it’s settled, I’m attending” Leyla tightly smiles. She attempts to get up but struggles due to the size of her stomach. Daemon automatically offers her his arm to which she gratefully takes and gets up with his help.
“Gods I wish this child will come out soon, I don’t know how much longer I can take this,” She huffs, one hand on her back as she groans at her back pain. She was a petite girl after all. Her frame small, making her stomach seem in proportion.
“Let’s hope the little one decides to not come out tonight shall we?” Daemon chuckles, his arm still held by Leyla as the two walk out of her solar. “Wouldn’t that be a turn of events” A chuckle leaves her lips along with a small shake of her head.
~
“Prince Daemon Targaryn, and his Lady Wife, Lady Leyla” The couple walk in, Leyla’s hand on Daemon’s arm for support as they carefully walk down the stairs. “Uncle, Leyla!” Rhaenyra stands up from her seat with a smile as she walks over to the two and embracing Leyla in a hug, quite awkward seeing as her swollen belly was in the way.
At the table, her father and sister were present. Both of them giving a nod to the younger. “Leyla dear, come sit. I have a spot saved just for you,” Rhaenyra pulls her away from Daemon and links her arms with hers.
She looked back at Daemon who chuckles before turning back around to face the front. Rhaenyra had her sit at the head of the table, 2 free seats on her left. The Targaryen Princess pulled out the chair and Leyla sat down with an awkward smile, everyone else was still standing as they watched.
“Daemon-“ She was interrupted by Rhaenyra’s voice, “Kepus, this is your spot,” The Princess gestures to the seat beside her. Leyla’s jaw slackened. She only looked to Rhaenyra, then her Husband then back to her front. Daemon was seated in between Rhaenyra and Alicent.
How odd of the Princess to not seat her husband beside her at a celebration for their marriage. And how odd Leyla found that her Husband was not seated by her side. Pushing the odd feelings aside. She smiles at her father who was directly across from her, a smile that was given back from Otto.
“Oh how good this feels, It’s been some time since we’ve all dined together.” Rhaenyra smiles as the servants pour all their cups with wine, apart from Leyla’s as she covers the cup with her hand, water only, she told them. “And as much as we are celebrating my fourth year in marriage with my dear Laenor, we are also celebrating the child that my Daemon and his wife will soo welcome!” She raises her cup and everyone follows suit.
Leyla cringed. His wife. His wife has a name. The young Hightower makes eye contact with her sister whose eyes slightly widen at the Princess’s words. She looks to her left where Daemon sat, he hadn’t batted an eye to her ever since he was sat down beside Rhaenyra.
The dinner celebration dragged on. Not much was said between Daemon and Leyla because well, they were seated away from each other. So instead, she made conversation with Laenor who was to her right. “Leyla, how ever did you manage to become a mother to three, well soon to be four, children at your age!” Rhaenyra brings everyone’s attention to her, everyone’s little conversations coming to a halt.
Leyla slowly takes a sip of water before answering. “I am just a dutiful wife I guess,” She shrugs, wetting her lips and smiling. “Forgive me, my memory is terrible, how old are you?” She wears a grin on her face, almost as if mocking her. “ten-and-eight.” Leyla answers, this time, with blank expression. Daemon side eyes the two women to his left.
Rhaenyra’s eyes enlargen the tiniest bit, her lips still curved upward. “My, let the poor girl rest, uncle.” She laughs, nudging Daemon who only chuckles. “She’s a wonderful mother to our children. She’s a natural.” He replies, finally looking at Leyla for the first time that evening.
The young Hightower briefly smiles before facing her front again. “You must be aching everyday. Such a small and fragile body like yours must surely be exhausting carrying all those children,” She chuckles, before taking another sip of her wine. The princess was, without a doubt getting tipsy.
“I’m quite used to it, Princess” Leyla shakes her head with a small scoff. “When I saw you heavily pregnant, Gods you still looked like you were…” Don’t say it. Don’t say it. Leyla said over and over in her head as Rhaenyra paused, thinking really hard to find the words.
Everyone else in the room felt the uncomfortable atmosphere. “Darling, maybe you should stop with the wine-“ Laenor interfered but it was no use, Rhaenyra had said it. “Like a little child-“ “Okay!” Laenor butts in, awkwardly laughing as everyone sits quiet. Leyla seemed composed on the outside, calm and unaffected by Rhaenyra’s comment.
But inside, she was fuming. How dare she say that to the only person to be able to give heirs for the Targaryens. Daemon stared at Leyla the entire time. He knew that comment was affecting his Lady Wife. Alicent coughs, Otto gives a displeased look at Rhaenyra.
“I just don’t know how you do it Leyla, I just cannot imagine what you go through during your pregnancies and birth-“ “I think there’s better topics to talk about than my pregnancies, don’t you?” She interrupts her with a fake smile. “We could talk about your children or your pregnancies but there is none to talk about,” Leyla comments before taking a sip of water.
She could see Rhaenyra was visibly affected by what she said. Leyla could see both her sister and father trying not to laugh. She knew of the whispers around the realm, the castle. That Laenor found pleasure with the opposite sex. And of course, both have denied it and yet it seems to be confirmed because during the four years of marriage, Rhaenyra has yet to be with child, producing no heirs.
“I-I’m sorry? I was simply asking-“ Rhaenyra furrowed her eyebrows making Leyla subtly roll her eyes. “Nyra.” Daemon sternly spoke, glaring at her niece. Silence filled the room once again. Daemon was right. Leyla shouldn’t have come to the dinner.
“I think it’s best I go,” Leyla breaks the silence, attempting to stand up but was quickly helped by Daemon. Rhaenyra stays sitting, her gaze hard on the table infront of her. Leyla’s words running through her mind. Alicent walks over, kissing her younger sister’s cheek. “Are you okay?” She whispers, to which Leyla nods with a small smile. “I’m fine.”
She wasn’t. And Daemon knew that. The young girl would always rant to him about her insecurities. Insecurities that he himself find beautiful. He knew that Rhaenyra’s comments stung the young girl. “Leyla…” Daemon attempts to comfort his wife but was pushed away as she walks away from him as soon as they step into their bedchambers.
“She had no right to comment about my stature. And-and what she called me. A little girl Daemon!” She shouts as she turns back around to face him who stands there. “She’s just like them all,” She chuckles bitterly to herself as she struggles to undo the laces to her dress.
Daemon moves to her, unraveling the laces to her dress. “I mean, who does she think she is. She knows what she was doing,” Leyla huffs as she slips out of her dress and slips into her nightgown. “And why did she sit you beside her and not me? Your wife, for gods sake-“ “Stop worrying about it, my love” Daemon hushed her. Resting his head on her shoulder and peppering her bare shoulder with kisses.
“But I can’t,” She moans. Daemon carefully turns the girl to face him, “She doesn’t know what she is talking about. Rhaenyra has not had the experience of carrying a child. And you, are producing Targaryen heirs, not her.” He says calmly, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she looks up at him.
“Do you think I took it too far when I said-“ “No,” He chuckles. “You were only speaking the truth” Leyla grins as Daemon kisses her forehead. “Come, what a night it has been” He ushers her to their bed.

Seer reader: "Today is gonna be totally normal."
Approximately thirty seconds later—
Yandere Aegon: "Which one of us is more likely to marry you?" Deep breath "Is it me or Aemond? Is it me or Aemond?"
Yandere Rhaenyra: "It is good to have you here. You will surely aid us in the war."
Seer reader: "H-How did I get all the way back here?"
Yandere Daemon smugly standing in the corner after he kicked a child and stole you back from Team Green.
Yandere Criston Cole: "I will protect you with every bone in my body."
Seer reader: "You can't protect me from the horrors."
Yandere TB & TG: "We're the horrors."
Yandere Aemond: "Mine."
Seer reader: "I am a bastard, my prince."
Yandere Aemond: "That just means you will have to marry me and have my children to be considered legitimate."
Yandere TB & TG: "Whose side are you on?"
Seer reader: "The side of my freedom." Eyes the map and looks at Essos.
Yandere Helaena: "You're very pretty."
Seer reader: "Thank you."
Yandere Helaena: "Did you know the copulation process is exceptionally long among ladybugs? It can last more than two hours. Is that how your visions work? Are they induced by your hormones? If my husband were to couple with you, do you think you would end up getting a vision in the middle of it?"
Seer reader: "I—uh."
Yandere Helaena: "If we were to entwine limbs do you think our process would be close to that of a ladybug? We were both given divine gifts. It would make sense if it took that long for us."
Seer reader: whispering "Daemon, Rhaenyra, Jacaerys, save me."
Viserys: Gets down on one knee
Seer reader: "Oh my gods, it’s finally happening."
Viserys: Dies.
Seer reader: "The poison kicked in."
Yandere Daemon: "Three words. Say them and I'm yours."
Seer reader: "Three words."
Yandere Daemon: "A win is a win. A win is a win."
Seer reader: Running around the castle panicked, blind, and with a bloody nose.
Yandere Daemon: "What did you see, my dear?"
Seer reader: "Nobody died. I promise."
Yandere Rhaenyra's mother senses kicking in: "WHAT KIND OF ANSWER IS THAT?!"
Yandere Alicent & Yandere Ser Criston worrying over Seer reader and the fact Yandere TB will try to kidnap them again.
Seer reader: "Don’t worry, I have a few knives up my sleeve."
Yandere Alicent: "I think you mean cards."
Seer reader, pulling knives out of their sleeves: "No, I do not."
Both yanderes silently questioning how you got those knives.
Random noble: "Do you have a spouse?"
Seer reader: "Emotionally, or legally?"
Yandere Helaena: "Treat spiders the way you want to be treated."
Seer reader: "Killed without hesitation."
Yandere Helaena: "No!"
Seer reader: "What time is it?"
Yandere Aegon: "I don’t know. Scream and we’ll find out."
Seer reader: Screams.
Yandere Criston COLE: "WHO THE FUCK IS HURTING SEER READER AT TWO IN THE MORNING!?"
Yandere Aegon: "It’s 2 am."
Seer reader: Looks at draft. "That is way too long."
Author: "I'm making it longer."

You walked the halls of the Red Keep to see your brother, the King. He has weakened the past few years. He is seriously ill and you are very scared for him. You feel sorry for him, you really do.
You haven't heard much about Rhanyra and Daemon, your niece and older brother. You have tried to send several letters to them, but no replies.
You finally arrived at the doors of the king's bed chambers. The knights bowed on either side and opened the door. "Princess y/n Targaryen, your grace," one screamed. You entered the room. In front of the fireplace sat your sick older brother, the King, and beside him stood your sister-in-law, The Queen Alicent. She turned around and smiled happily. “Y/n” she said and hugged you.
You have very nice relationship and get along very well. You were grateful to her for taking care of Viserys. You ended the hug. "My queen" You whispered. You turned your glance to your brother, walked beside him and knelt next to him. "Brother, how are you?" You asked softly. You heard the door close and assumed that Alicent had left you alone. "Who is it?" he replied weakly. You felt tears in your throat but you held them back. "Viserys, it's me. Your sister, Y/n" "Aah Y/n. Of course. My dear sister. I feel like I'm gonna die any moment" he joked. Your eyes widened. "Don't say it like that, Viserys! What would Rhaenyra think? You are strong, brother. You are a Dragon, like Daemon, like me," You said softly sobbing now. Viserys placed his hand on top of yours which was on his planket. "The one who was promised. The long night… it's… the promised…" "Viserys? Viserys!" He turned to look at you, confused. "I think.. I need to rest a little," you nodded and stood up. "I'm gonna tell Alicent," and after saying that you left.
⎯⎯⎯⎯
The garden had always been your favorite place. The smell, the colors, the picture was just breath taking. You walked around until you saw your niece, Helaena sitting alone on one of the seats there. You walked over to her, smiling sweetly. "Helaena, how are you?" She turned her attention from her hand, where a yellow butterfly rested, to you. Her face lit up when she saw you. "Aunt! Sit, sit!" and so you did, your red dress swaying with every movement. The butterfly flew away and she took your hands to hers. "I'm fine, aunt. Today is a beautiful day, isn't it? Did you come from seeing my father?" she asked hurriedly. "Today is a very beautiful day, my darling. Yes actually I did. Your mother told me you'd be here," her face fell. You frowned and put your hand on her shoulder. "Is something wrong, me dear? Are you spending much time here?... Alone?" she looked at the floor dreamily.
"I don't have anyone to talk to most of my time. Father is sick, mother is busy with Kingdom, Aegon… does his own things, Aemond also don't care. You're the only one I have, aunt." "Don't ever say such things again," you took her head and hugged her against your chest. She hooked her arms around your waist, strongly. "Never Helaena. Your parents and brothers love you, they really do. I love you. You don't have to feel alone, never." She took her head from your arms and looked you into the eyes dreamily. "I wish you were my mother, y/n." You looked at her sadly and hugged her again.
What you didn't hear were the words she spoke to herself. "The one who can't fly can't breathe fire."
⎯⎯⎯
After that you were to search your two nephews and talk with them about Helaene. Like you expected they were on the training ground. You watched from the balcony as Aemond's and Aegon's swords clashed. A few knights and lower lords around them. You knew how proud they were. They liked to show off, especially to you. You never knew why thought.
You made your way down the stairs. The knights and lords bowed when they saw you. "Make way to Princess y/n Targaryen," this took your nephews attention. Aegon smirked. "Came to see how I beat this brat's ass and cheer me up?" he asked arrogantly. "Not today, Aegon." Aemond looked at you with narrowed eyes. He never liked how his brother talked with you. "Actually, I would like to talk about Helaena with you," Aegon groaned and rolled his eyes for that. "My lovely aunt. Can we not talk about her again. I'm about to win this battle and I would like some cheering with your beautiful voice." Next thing you knew Aegon was bleeding from his right hand. The maesters ran to him and took him to his chambers, while Aegon cried and whined dramatically.
You looked at Aemond, shocked. He had thrown his bloodied sword to the ground. He looked unbothered. "He got too close to you." You had nothing to say. What was wrong with these boys? "Aemond… I have to talk with your mother about this. This is not…" "Don't worry, he has seen worse battles," he mocked his brother. You shaked your head, turned around to walk away and said, "I need a hot bath. Now." "I will see you at the dinner, Aunt," said Aemond, watching your beautiful figure walking away.

(You know, I actually didn’t think that this was a thing that allowed and common enough to even be noteworthy. WTF?)
Definition of “Avunculate Marriages”: Basically marrying your uncle/aunt, your niece/nephew.
Legal(ized) Avunculate Marriages
New York #1 (ironically, there’s a tale about nonwhite immigrants already having such a marriage and wanting to see it legalized and not a reason for deportation)
New York #2 (criminalizing such marriages?! contradiction or difficulty detecting such unions?)

Absolutely loved the contrast with Rhaenyra getting to make choices about her sexuality and get pleasure vs poor Alicent having to go lie under an old man and trying to zone out. So much focus on hands: Rhaenyra’s and Daemon’s hands on the wall, Alicent’s picked fingers on the covers, Rhaenyra’s hand grabbing the sheets as she rode Ser Criston.
Just a fabulously directed episode with a strong female POV.

The Dance was a war unlike any other fought in the long history of the Seven Kingdoms. Though armies marched and met in savage battle, much of the slaughter took place on water, and … especially … in the air, as dragon fought dragon with tooth and claw and flame. It was a war marked by stealth, murder, and betrayal as well, a war fought in shadows and stairwells, council chambers and castle yards, with knives and lies and poison.
